You are tuning in to the Badand Bougie Mos podcast show. Hi,

(00:25):
guys, this is great with theBad and Boujie Mos podcast show. Today
is Fair now fu Today is Friday. Made the fifteen twenty twenty UM covid
era bas I call it. Idid the last time though I actually recorded
a podcast. Um. Georgia wasjust now kind of trying to reopen the

(00:49):
doors or whatever to the state. So that was like, you know,
the small not small things, butall the black people things. So hair
salons, nel salons, things likethat was opening. Um. Now the
state is pretty much wide open.Um. They they have opened up home
Goods and hobby Lobby, you knowthose my two stores. Excuse me.

(01:10):
So I haven't personally visited there yet, but today I just might because it's
to the point now it's like Ineed at least decorate something, put something
on the wall. I mean, somebody needs to change in my house something.
So Um. Luckily for the areathat I'm living in, people are
still being safe wearing their mask.I will say probably about eighty five percent

(01:34):
of the people around this area's waitingwearing their masks. However, only me
and my husband went out to Rosswell, Georgia or Mothers State. He ended
up buy me a state from LittleAlleys, which was actually really good.
Just let you guys know, thepeople down there in downtown Rosswell was having
like the best life, like theyhad no masks on. Um. They

(01:57):
you know, walking up and downthe street with your dreams, sitting you
know, on outside on the littlePorsche area whatever. You would think.
There was no type of COVID nineteenthat was around. So it's crazy how
you know, everything gets going onin the news. People are trying to
warn you like, hey, thisship might come back around again ten times

(02:20):
harder. But you got folks outhere like wilding like they legit are not
not taking this seriously. And ifyou watch the Breakfast Well, if you
listen to the Breakfast Club in morning, you know, Charlotte Mayne do this
whole thing talk about guess what raceit is? Yeah, I guess that's

(02:40):
all my sake. I know it'snot as any who. So on today's
episode, I'm just gonna go overa couple of things about, you know,
of course, how everything is goingfor my quarantine living and just kind
of want to share different type ofnews with you guys. All right,

(03:05):
So the first thing that I wantto talk about is um is actually is
that really why I want to talkabout? Yeah, I'm gonna talk about
this all right. So recently myhusband we had a little a little spat,
if we will say about what actuallywasn't a spat. Recently, my
husband made the comment that he's tiredof cooking breakfast. So of course,

(03:34):
as you guys know, me andhim both are working from home at this
point on with the kids going toschool at home, you know, things
like that. So in the morningtimes, he has normally been the one
who would cook me and him breakfast. Um, not the whole family.
Goods, the kids, they they'repretty much self sufficient when it comes to
breakfast. It was just you know, if I wanted some as a bacon,
or he wanted as a bacon,if he was up you know,

(03:55):
doing whatever, or if I wasworking with the kids or just playing,
I work it, he would goahead and cook it. So one day
he came back and was like beforehe sat down, he was like,
yo, like, this is mylast time cooking breakfast, Like I'm tired
of this what And I'm thinking inmy head like, you know, I'm
trying to be the better Brittany.I'm like, okay, Brittany, don't

(04:16):
just pop off. Sit sit init, you know, think about your
thoughts and think about what you wantto say. So after I sat there
for like two minutes, I waslike, hey, I really like the
way that came off. I'm like, as far as you don't want to
cook breakfast, this is definitely ateam effort. You know, we are

(04:36):
a partnership. So um, youknow, how how would you feel if
I was like, man, butthis shit, Like I don't want to
wash clothes anymore. It's still gottaget done, and I still gotta wash
them. Like it like the thingsthat moms do behind the scene never get
recognized. Like if I, legitjust stopped everything, this house would be

(04:58):
a mess. But the fact it'slike it's I feel like it's like magictives
on the fact they don't see itgoing on. They're like, oh,
well, we don't know who doit, but obviously someone do Yeah,
yeah it's me, I'm know onewho does it. So I just felt
kind of you know, uh,I'm gonna say upset about I felt very
disappointed and felt like, um like, like my worth what I do was

(05:18):
kind of like downgraded because it waslike, damn, I don't want to
cook no more like like, dude, you know what all I do for
you and this family, like comeon. So at the end he said
that he definitely didn't mean like thatlies and and that you know, eating
mean for you to come across thatway, that he understands about the partnership

(05:40):
and things like that. So um, so of course, you know,
some days I asked, you know, if he wants me to cook,
if somebody eat, you know,I cook majority of the time, or
we'll cut together. I will saythat, so I know I can understand
the frustration. I'm like, hey, you know, if you need for
me to cookie something, I cookiesomething like, just say that, but
don't be like, hey, Iain't doing this shit no more like that's

(06:01):
not cool. And then this umskis and I has something in myself.
And then the second thing I wantedto talk about as sports. With motherhood
and relationships, it's about chores. So my question is what age should kids
start having chores? So um,as everyone knows my oldest kid, that's

(06:24):
extra at the house. Of coursewe have bonus kids that's outside the house,
but we're talking about the kids that'sinside the house. So my daughter,
she's twelve, and um I havefor her chores. She has to
watch what she has to clean thekitchen every night. She has to of
course clean her room and also shehas to clean the jacket jail bathroom that
her her brother shared wants a week. My son, the nine year old,

(06:47):
Uh, you know, boys arekind of different, so I try
to just do a one and donethings. So all he has to do
is take care of the trash soum, you know, daily if the
trash need to be empty, hetake it outside and on when stays only
because if if I had to givethat boy some chores throughout the week,
it probably wouldn't get done or itwould get done halfway. It's either or

(07:10):
it's a boy. Um. SoWednesdays he has to pull the trash cans
down to the street or to theend of the street or end of the
driveway, pull them down, Anthonyout all the trash cans in the house
and vacuum upstairs. That's it.He don't even have to vacuum downstairs because
we have our robot that vacuums beforrestdownstairs. Excuse me since since there would,

(07:33):
so he only has to vacuum upstairs. And then, of course the
two year old, his little choryis to help me put the clean clothes
in the dryer so they can dry. And also he picks up after himself
at night before it's time to bed, to go to bed. So the
reason why I asked this question isbecause, and I don't know if you

(07:54):
guys can agree. I remember growingup in the nineties where I was pretty
much I think honestly, was cleaningthe whole entire house, Like I was
washing clothes, doing dishes, vacuumin, cleaning the bathrooms all on a
Saturday morning before I went outside atthe tender age of eleven. So it's
like, is it that we arestarting to be softer on our kids or

(08:18):
is it that we're just super traumatizedfrom that back in the day. We're
like, yo, We're never goingto do this to our kids, Like
yeah, I'm worrying capable of helpingout with some chores or whatever, because
my one problem that I'll running intoeven though I signed chores to the kids,
or you know, if people tryto help the fact that they do

(08:39):
it halfway or it's not done rightat all, I end up redoing it,
and that pisces me off more becauseI'm like, yo, I could
have just I could have just savedmy breath and just did this myself and
got it done like five minutes faster. Especially the kitchen, for example,
it literally takes my daughter to puta matter of fact, now, even

(09:00):
the hand washed dishes, I shouldjust put the dishes in the dishwasher like
she is so sport. It literallytasted like almost forty five minutes to put
the dishes in a dishwasher. Maybewipe down the counter. Sometimes you do,
sometimes you don't. I don't know. And also, sweet forty five
minutes I can get in there, and I can't get all that stuff done

(09:20):
probably in ten minutes flat. Sothat that's my concerned. So I try
my best to kind of just youknow, don't think about it. It's
just like, okay, it getsdone once a week. Just do oh
big old clean sweet you know, behind them, just to make sure that
everything that everything is actually clean. So that that's my take on it.

(09:41):
Hold on, I have to setmy la take hope please, that's good,
Lord, that's good all right. So the nets sub ject that I
want to get to it's of courseabout business. So I know a lot
of us are either still working fromhome or it's to the point where you're

(10:05):
starting to go back into like amodified schedule where you're pretty much hybrid.
You're working in the office sometimes andthen you know you're work at home on
the other days. So I wantedto drop a couple of gems about about
how to keep your work space productiveand also to make sure you know that
you're comfortable in any type of workspaceyou're working in. You know, a

(10:28):
lot of people don't have the luxuryof Ashley having a in home office,
so your office could either be yourbed or you know, a little corner
in the wall somewhere with a chairor the dining room table. So I
figured I just drop a couple ofgems that I thought about that probably would
help you make sure your space isamazing, all right. So the first

(10:50):
thing is to make sure that yourworks area is awesome. It's personalize it
to to your liking. So thatcan be either you know, getting your
favorite throat pellow to put behind yourbat to make sure you have bad support,
or you know, getting your favoritecandle to light while you work,

(11:11):
just anything that brings you joy.You know, of course, with anything,
once you start to personalize the area, it feels like you and you
won't feel you know, you won'tfeel bad like oh my god, I
gotta get up out of bed inmy pajamas and go through this computer and
do this work if you make itenjoyable, unless you be like, oh
my god, I gotta get outmy bed in my pajamas and go and

(11:37):
light these candles and do this work. So the first point is make sure
you make your area enjoyable. Secondpoint to make sure that you stay super
productive and that you like the workarea that you're in is um and it's
more so about the productivity and notnot you know, actually decorating part.

(11:58):
But make sure you label all yourship. I have found that my husband,
he's actually working downstairs in the diningroom, has papers everywhere from his
work stuff to you know how stufflike maybe he has to review or go
over and it's like, how howdo you know where? Like how do
you know where things are at whenyou have a meeting? He was like,

(12:20):
yo, I just look for it, like put them on mute and
I just look for it. WhileI'm like, nah, you don't gotta
do that. So in order tosolve that problem by a couple of cheap
labels with some Manila folders. Damn, I sound old because I don't think
they call them Anila folders anymore. But you know the little the little paper
folders. I guess it's Manila folkwhatever. So get you some Manilla folders.

(12:41):
Put the papers in there, labelthem so you at least you know.
It could be a simple label likeworkshit how shit, And just make
sure you put them in there, and then you know, at night when
you're cleaning up your area, becauseI hope that you are, you can
place your stuff back in there. It looks neat, you're able to find
your things at the drop of adime and you won't be scrambling. So

(13:03):
number two, it's definitely labeled things. Number three is um it's storage.
So of course, if you don'thave a true office, most likely you
know, you don't have like afiling system or anything like that to you
know, to store your items. So um. So one way you can
get around this is, of course, if you're working at a table somewhere,

(13:24):
um, you know, you canbuy one of the little um again,
a little filing system, you know, the little paper holders where you
can hold your Manila photos that youlabel, you know, the workshit on
the in the area that you're in. So you can get this from Staples
Target. But it's pretty much likeeither a matter of fact, you can
actually get a we call it aletter box where it's just like a square

(13:50):
rectangle or a rectangle box where youjust put letters in back in the day.
So you can even get one ofthose just for you to be able
to house your items somewhere. Anotheranother way you can have storage is actually
by adding wall storage. So ifyou do have a you know, a
little dedicated space, don't necessarily haveto be an office, but just a

(14:11):
space where you actually go work atand it has a blank wall, definitely
use that wall tom put it uplike um, like you could do a
wall system. You could do apeg board where it has different folance systems,
or you know, things you canhang on there, just just everyday
stuff that you know you use forwork. So um so, definitely having

(14:33):
some type of storage, either onthe table or on the wall in the
area you are working in wild definitelyhelp you stay more productive. And lastly,
oh shit, no, lastly,it's made sure you set your schedule.
And what I mean about that isthat for people who are overachievers like
me, working at home get superblurred when you kind of could take a

(14:58):
break whenever. So in order tonot be burnt out, because if you
you know, if you don't reallyhave a stop set stop time, you
will end up becoming burnt out becauseyou'll be working like whenever. You know,
make sure you set a schedule upthat you work nine to five,
ten to six, whatever your scheduleis, and you actually stop at that

(15:22):
point. The reason behind that,it's of course number one, Like I
already mentioned, you don't want tohave a case of burnout. Even though
you do have the autonomy to beable to kind of come and go as
you please, since you're working fromhome, you're still using mind power.
That's why if you follow me onInstagram, I had posted probably a couple
of weeks ago, like, damn, I need a vacation from from working

(15:43):
from home. And you know alot of people agree with me, like,
yeah, you you legit still working, so why not, Like you're
still using your your brain power andit still tires you out. So just
because you work from home doesn't necessarilymean that it's easier, doesn't mean that
you can't have burnout, doesn't meanthat you just setting up chilling watch the

(16:03):
TV, you know, eating snapsall day, because honestly, my TV
don't even be on, Like Ican't concentrate with my TV on, and
if I do have it on,probam not being as productive as I should
be. So um, definitely makesure that you said us a legit start
and stop time. And the lastbonus jump that I'm going to give is

(16:26):
that if you have a laptop,if well, first of all, if
you're looking for a work area inyour home and you know, don't really
know where to go. M Amazonhas this really cute computer. Well it's
not computer set up, but it'sactually for a projector but it doves as
a laptop um um stand or whatever. So I forgot what it's called.

(16:49):
I drop it down in the notesonce once I edit all this, but
I'm super cute. It has enoughroom for your mouth and also like a
because I think my lad top it'sprobably like fifteen inches maybe my windows,
so um, you're able to justput it up easily, sit right in
front of you if you're you know, at a death or whatever, or
even if you want to sit outsidefor a little bit. I definitely love

(17:11):
working outside. That's my thing. If ain't nobody's out there or them,
Um, what's some new things? Some murder hornets? Well I have it.
I swear we on jamuns, y'all. I swear, I swear.
That's just don't make no sense. But yes, if you like to change
up your area often or you justneed somewhere to be able to put your
stuff, definitely check it out.Like I say, it's a projector a

(17:36):
projector why keep on wanting to sayhandle a projector a projector stand. It's
white and it dubs asks a laptopstands, super cute, supermobile. I
loved it. It's super sleek. You guys know, I'm all about minimalistic
lifestyle, so it definitely works out. All right, moving on to the

(17:57):
nets topic. All right, sowe're gonna play a quick game call it
love it or kick it. Ilove it or kick it. It's just
I'm gonna go over the items thatI bought during cure. I said Cure

(18:18):
Teine that I bought door quarantine.Um, since I can't do any type
of target shopping and and I wantto go ahead and put this out here.
I'm not a shopoholic. Don't don'tget it twisted. I just enjoy
shopping at target. So for aninstance, if it's like, you know,
shopping for lotion and soap, Ienjoy doing that like I enjoy just

(18:41):
buying like stuff for the house. So it's not no. You know how
some people just go out and justyou know, just get shit, don't
even need it, and then theyjust have it sit in and they could
be like, girl, why yougot that tea cup? And you don't
even drink tea, You're like whyyou got that? So yeah, I
don't do that type of shopping.I only do shopping that I know the
stuff I need. So yes,if I knew I need some some lotion,

(19:03):
I would definitely try other types oflotions and research them because that's what
makes me happy. Anyhood, Sothis list is about the items, these
random ass items I end up buyingthat ended up buying a couple of weeks
ago, of course, at thebeginning of the whole quarantine on Staying Place
era. So we're gonna play alittle game you love it a list it,

(19:26):
not love it a list it.That's ah TTV. Love it or
kick it. So the first outof my ball, and I think I
mentioned this on my Instagram page too, is the egg pod, right,
So I'm not sure if you guysare familiar with it. The egg pod
is pretty much it's this giant egg. It's not giant egg. It's small,
but it's an egg. It's it'sbigger than a normal egg where you

(19:47):
are able to bowl as inside themicrowave. So what you do. You
pour a little water on the bottombase of this big ass egg. You
put four eggs in there, andyou put the top back on. Pop
it in the microwave for about nineminutes. Once it's done, you take
it out. You shake it vigorouslyfor four four up and down four times.

(20:10):
If you shake it more than fourtimes, you're gonna fuck the shit
up. It's gonna be a messin the pot. I did it so
trust me on this. So youshake it up four times and then once
you pop it open, the edsare already peeled. So yes, sounds
super cool. I thought it wascool at two o'clock in the morning when
I seen it come across the NN, so I ordered it. To be

(20:33):
honest, the cleanup is a messbecause there's eggshells all inside the thing,
and it's not friendly to clean up. So I'm definitely gonna kick it.
I have not used it again sincethat time. It's so much easier just
to actually put some eggs on thestove and just boil them. So I
mean it was a cute concept whatever, but definitely kicking it all right.

(20:56):
Second item that I bought was wasmy phone case from burg Up b U
r g A. So luckily myphone case finally came in after two months.
So go ahead, I'm gonna goahead and tell this long story short.
So I was on Instagram two o'clockin the morning like I normally am,

(21:18):
and I was scrolling through and youknow how they have these of course
the advertising sponsored posts about you know, about looking whoever paid for it whatever,
So I've seen this phone case.It was super cute, super sleep
it's tan with black polka dots orwhatever. Really cute. You know,
they put a filter on the pictureso it looks super cute. So I'm
like, all right, cool,I'm just gonna clitch shot now and see

(21:41):
how much it call. So thephone case, I want to say,
it was like twenty five dollars whatever, but it indicated that it shipped from
the US. Put my information inNESTI no, this shit tom about its
coming from Luscabia or whatever, andI'm like, fuck, like I hate
when people do that, Like,yo, if you're shipping from the Middle

(22:06):
East somewhere, just say that, like I don't mind waiting if it's worth
waiting, but don't trick. Youdon't do the ok dog and be like,
yo, we should we have usyou know us shipment and you got
don't so nexting, No, it'sall about it's gonna be here of course
between two and thirty or four daysor whatever. So after the whole one

(22:26):
month pass, I was like,Okay, I'm gonna reach out to these
people to see what's going on.So I hit them up. So of
course I looked on the Instagram page. A lot of people were we're complaining
about the same thing, like, hey, I'll ordered these phone cases.
No one is answering on customer service, no one's picking up you know what's
going on. I will give themkudos. So they were answering people in

(22:47):
the comments, so that's cool.Of course, the main answer was my
god, I do the COVID nineteen. We apologize for the shipping delay.
You should be able to have youritems within two or three months. However,
if you check your track on yourpackage, it's probably gonna say that
it's still here in Luscabia, soyou're not able to update. Sorry,

(23:07):
and that's it, and that's it. So at this point I felt like
it was a lost cause, like, yo, if I get this ship,
I get this ship. If not, I won't, all right,
guys. So finally, yesterday thephone the phone case came in. These
dudes had the nerves to have mesign actually it had they had it,

(23:30):
so I need to sign off onit. But my little male person she's
like, girl, you know,it's COVID nineteen. So I'm gonna just
put this in the mail box andjust say that I've seen you and I
signed it. You know, Ijust saved COVID nineteen on the senator bag.
You get all right, cool?So I opened it up. Our
first thing on the online that itcomes in this little velvety type case.

(23:51):
Oh my god, I gotta becauseit's pissed me of because I don't like
cheap ship. The ship's cheap, but i'ma go ahead and get into details
about it. So it's supposed tocome to this really cute bell the case
with their little label on it,no label Polyessa maybe Polyessa, I don't
know, but no label. SoI take it out and yo, this
case it's legit not it may beworth ten dollars, like it's definitely like

(24:14):
they're hitting people over the head, and I hate that because I'm not that
type of person, Like, ifI put out any type of product or
service, I'm gonna make sure youget your money's where. You might even
get more your money's worth. Tobe honest, I might. I might
actually underpay myself because I'm like,yo, I don't want you to go
way disappointed about your purchase, Likethat's just me. So when shit like

(24:37):
that happens to me or I seepeople doing that, it really hurts my
nerves because I'm like, how canyou be that mean, like, how
can you knowingly be deceitful about yourstuff? Like, yo, that's that's
just like cool. So yes, back to the case. So the case
is cute for what it is.I'm just gonna switch it up because I
got a better case from Amazon.Of course that costs me ten dollars.

(25:00):
But I mean, it's cute forwhat it is. But I'm definitely gonna
kick it first because it took solong. I don't care about COVID nineteen
too too long to come. Secondly, the shit sheep whatever, all right,
So nets and last item that Ibought over COVID nineteen, and I
actually bought this for the Hubby Slashfamily. It's the Ninja Foodie. Lord

(25:26):
Jesus, when I said, thisis probably like one of the best purchases
ever, like that ass. Soif you don't know about the Ninja Foody,
then Ninja Foodie is a dehydrator,an air frier, a pressure cooker,
slow cooker, and an air crisper. I want to say, air
crisper and air frier. It's thesame thing. It just might be just

(25:47):
what they say, but it's allthis in one. So when I say
this ship and it's super easy cleanup. But when I say it's the
thing, it's the bomb. Sowe have cooked shrump, chicken, steate,
real fries, potatoes, eggs becauseI ain't feel like it's in the
egg pod what has to be cookingthere or salmon. We put a lot

(26:10):
of stuff in there and everything tastesgreat. So if you are in them,
you know, if you're in theshopping I wants not shopping area,
but if you're in the lookout fora air fire and you want something that's
a little bit more fancy, definitelylook at the Ninja Foodie. It's super
cute, but I mean it's i'mgonna say it is heavy and it's booky,

(26:30):
so you will need to find aspace of course on your counter for
it. But it's definitely worth themoney. So I want to say that
I paid. I think I gotit own self, like one fifty.
But for you to have all thatstuff in one like yo, like,
it's it's super cool. It comeswith a recipe book, so excuse me,
so you're able to, you know, try out their recipes. If

(26:52):
you don't want to try out theirrecipes, you know, you could definitely
just kind of modify what they havejust to your liking. So definitely check
out the Ninja Foodie. All right, all right, all right guys,
So that is it for me.Thank you so much for m for listening

(27:18):
to my little you know upgras andrants. Hopefully you enjoyed my perspective on
the things that are going on.Definitely hit me up about this short thing
online because I want to know onwhat you guys think, what's going on
in your households, to see ifI can, you know, take some
generals and I'll make Also, justwant to go ahead let you guys know

(27:41):
that I have been working on somethingamazing during this pour team time. So
I'm definitely excited Tom to drop thatsuper soon. It's coming along very well.
I want to say what it is, but because I honestly in real
life, I can't hold order. But I'm definitely gonna hold this one.
Also, if you have not checkedout my well site on Touching Minimalism dot

(28:03):
design, make sure you do.I know a couple of other episodes I
mentioned that you know what my dayjob is is a professional organizer, so
UM I head up. I assistbusiness owners UM pretty much organize their business
