Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome to episode four seventy six of five and Dive.
It is Monday, July twenty First, I'm your host, Craig Goldston,
joined as usual by Patrick Dubuke and Jeffrey pattern Nostro. Gentlemen,
how was your weekend? Any banter?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
I had to go to Saturday. I had to go
to three stores, grocery stores, to find three different grocery
stores to find cupcakes for a five year old's birthday party.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I'm sorry. The first ones were just out of their attic.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Well, one of them didn't have any cupcakes. Okay, that's
one closest to my house. I feel like they usually
have cupcakes. They didn't have cup shop. They gluten free
cupcakes avail and I'm.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Not doing, you know, no offense to anyway.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
And I went to the second one. They only had chocolate,
and Jess said, Udia is not chocolate too. The kid
loves chocolate, but you can't just have chocolate cupcake. Probably kids,
I mean, yeah, So I went to the I went.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
To that involves a third store. On pushing back.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I went to the third store, so I know has cupcakes.
I got a mix of chocolate, vanilla and red velvet
cupcakes for the kids. Then was driving. We were having
the party at like this indoor playground place that's literally
less than a mile from our house. I'm pulling into
(01:30):
the parking spot looking for a spot close to the
door on a Sunday morning in the middle of a
nothing strip. Mall don't see the oncoming car from the
other direction, stop short to avoid hitting it. All the
cupcakes go on the thing, and you know how they
pack grocery store cupcakes. There's no like there. So then
I go back to the other grocery store and get
(01:51):
more cupcakes. They couldn't We couldn't salvage the cupcakes. So
that was my weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
We line up.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
We have a lot of leftover cupcakes.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Now you got to press them together.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
In Chartley County or Davis County, wants to come get
some cupcakes, condition be damned, they shall taste fine. The
I things just kind of smashed. Yeah, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Uh, Patrick, you had an exciting update muster Greg's dismay.
I I my my my parents hometown where I grew up.
The ever once a year they have a citywide flea
market mm hmm, and so I have been helping my
parents declutter, Uh, so that I don't have to deal
with it someday myself. And we know you're getting stuff
(02:39):
out in the street. And we did it. We got up,
We got up four o'clock in the morning, Uh you know,
got up and got down there, put up all the tables,
put at the canopy, sold stuff. Yeah, it went well,
like it was. It was lucrative enough to be worth
the day, even though it was exhaust afterwards. But I
want to do share one uh one incident with you
I thought was my favorite. The market was supposed to
(03:00):
start eight, and of course people started shopping at six.
But the first thing that the first thing we sold
was a can of pepsi that I don't know why
we had this, but it had been sitting in my
parents' basement for thirty five years. And I know this
because it was dated in eighteen ninety one, because it
was like it was the given away. As you're raising
(03:22):
your hand, Greg.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
I'm raising my hand. Yeah, is this an unopened can
of pepsi?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
It is an unopened again of nineteen ninety one pepsi.
It has it has like a special label because it
was given away at like some some event for Boeing for.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
The collectors love that shit.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Collectors apparently loved so we So we had two of
these cans, and I kept one because I've got a
friend who works at Bowing and doesn't listen to this podcast,
and I can say that, but we I'm like, in
the other one, I'm like, I just put a make
an offer sticker on there, because I'm like, you know whatever,
I'll be fun to listen to people make offers on
this can of pepsi all day. They did not, because
(04:01):
the very first person who picked it up said what
do you want for this? And I said, well, I
looked on I looked on eBay.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Okay, I was gonna say, you have to look this
up as somebody.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, I looked this up and there are no full
cans of pepsi from nineteen ninety one Boeing for sale,
but you can buy a couple of empty ones for
ten dollars.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
No one is buying them, which is why they've been
on sale at eBay forever. And I told him that,
like no one is bought when he says, so, you're
saying you want ten dollars for it, and I said, yes,
I am, And he said okay and aid me ten
dollars for a can of on open thirty five.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
I have no idea if that's a good deal or
now I don't either.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Hilarious, it was that was the first thing to get,
Like it feels like you're always nervous about You're always
nervous about the first thing you sell, being like, oh,
I'll clearly you enterprised this because it didn't even last
till nine. In this case, maybe maybe the thing is
that because of the second gift, the second can, I
was gonna give it as a gag gift to my
friend I am apparently just now giving it to him
(05:00):
is a real gift because it's.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Like that's over some secret Santa like shold yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Uh, I don't really have anything uh from this weekend.
I did just want to say, on the subject of
grocery stource not having stuff. I went to Whole Foods
uh yesterday to pick up some stuff didn't have shallots,
which I think, like, is bullshit. It's Whole Foods. So wait,
did they just like they can't be out of shallots.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
They're out of them?
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Okay, Well they didn't have they didn't have an empty
section for them. They just weren't available.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
They had we denied the existence of shallots.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Well, I asked the guy. I said shallots, and he said, no,
we don't have. I bought them there before. To be clear,
they just like this trip there was not But like,
I don't know how you can be whole foods without
It doesn't make any sense, not quite whole. I mean,
it's fine everyone. I just used some bread on them.
(06:09):
It's fine, But like I just thought that was weird. Yeah,
it's not a whole yeah, partial foods partial. All right,
On that note, let's let's get to the show. Our
first segment is Milwaukee's best. They are at the end.
That's a well done, Jeffrey. They are literally they're tied
for the best, but they're they're there. They have they
(06:33):
have a partial best record in baseball, right or best
naturally nationally.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
I think they're a half game the Tigers.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
The Tigers are at by a game. They're tied with
the Cubs at the top of the Central Division. Uh,
you know, ten game win streets the value in my
opinion at this point.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
They got three of them against the Dodgers because they
know they got.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Six of them against the Actually, jeff that's that. That's
not the issue. Uh, it's that Toronto did it, then
Boston did it, now Milwaukee's doing it. It's like enough,
you know. It's like when that's when they were like
three perfect games in a month, all right or not
perfect games? No hitters, man, I not do them well today.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
It's because you didn't have shallots in your.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, exactly. It's throwing the whole thing off. Yeah, they
just keep winning. They swept the Dodgers twice. They I
saw this on Blue Sky today. Sister's Family of Barbecue
noted they had twenty Jose Kintana went six innings against
the Dodgers in the most recent game. That is the
(07:40):
twenty ninth time that the Brewers have had a starter
go six innings. That's the third lowest in baseball. They
had five Dodgers five or six games against the Dodgers
their starter went six innings. So yeah, yeah, they've they've
(08:00):
been cleaning up against a bad team. I guess this
is what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Caleb has been read hot lately.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Durbin has been read hot. Joey or Teaz, who we
have long maligned. While running down how this is a
lineup of good to better than good, or like average
to better than average hitters. I think the last month
or so he's made a change at the Fleet, he's
been quite good. Uh. Is it frustrating to watch your
favorite team that's supposed to be good give up home
(08:29):
runs to Isaac Collins, Caleb Durbin and Joey or tease there.
I don't know which one is which, but they're fifth, sixth,
and seventh homers of the seasons, respectively. It is, folks,
it is. But are the Are the Brewers a frustrating
watch if you're a fan of the opposing team? The
answer is yes, because they're good in frustrating like they're
(08:54):
not going to just straight up out talent you for
the most part, like Ken Jackson Churio take over a game. Yes,
it hasn't.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
What is going to happen is joy ortis is gonna
dump one over the short stop chat with first and
third and two outs after falling behind? Oh two?
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Well, and it's also and look, I want to be clear,
like I say this out of out of respect, even
if it's frustrating when it's happening to you, like they
every single mistake your team makes, they are on it.
I imagine it's a lot like playing Oklahoma City in basketball,
(09:29):
where it's just it's it's suffocating, right if you throw
to the wrong base, if you lolligag for half a second,
if you're if whatever, they are taking an extra base.
They're very fast. I believe they have the most stolen
bases in either the National League Baseball. I thought I
saw that during this series. They they are heads up
(09:53):
all the time. We had an an absolutely phenomenal The
Phillies can't be normal and bless them for it. Situation
on the basis would never happen in Milwaukee. Like just
they are on top of everything. Uh, Caleb Durban leads
the league and hit by pitches like they just like
(10:15):
everything that's annoying.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
T J.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Friedel Gut hit like four times this weekend.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
That was ready. It's black ink on the on the
Baseball reference page. He is fourteen. Yeah, he he's again
like he's he's by our war. He's a two board
player already in seventy seven games with a one oh
waight ops like that's and.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
That's ironically the Yankees could really use him at third
base right now.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
They extend, they extend innings Yep. Their defense is smothering, right,
Like things you think are gonna be hits should be
hits aren't.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Outside of outside of like pretty Peerulta has been great obviously,
and yes, not that it's not that.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
He had a not great first few turns for them
and has been really good.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
But they're just gonna get like every single time, it's
going to be five and a third innings, two runs
from these guys and then they.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Turn over to their bullpen or zero runs and and
the bullpen is really really good. Trevor McGill is really good.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
He's frustrating that Isaac Collins is so good, but like,
but he is.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Yeah, like I saw him a fair bit in Heartred.
He was a Rockies.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
The Rockies just let him go. Yep.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Then't like internal over age outfielder if they didn't, Yeah,
well he was.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
I think I was listening to the broadcast and I
actually hadn't realized this. He was a third baseman that
has converted to outfield on the fly.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
And he'd play to a play her play field.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
For he played well, I'm looking at twenty twenty two
who played seventy eight games at second, but he played
some outfield. Yeah, but he's most yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
I mean but yeah, he's like every speedy and feel
like the Rockies always have these guys in Double A
that are like a couple of years too old but
like hit there a little bit and can ron and
yeah they let the wrong one go.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
I do like that. We're on two weeks of the
Andrew Vaughn experience.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Yeah, just absolutely kill he killed. He won I think
at least two games for them against the Dodgers, and
it's like Andrew Vaughn.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yeah, he's reached base. He's played eight games, one has
been hit or seven as a starter, he's reached safely
in all eight games.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Yep. Uh, yeah, he has a they're down reee Hoskins
and like, no they're not, Yeah no, because Andrew is
just doing some ree Hoskins ship. Yeah, it's it's there again.
It's it's one of the it's a it's a frustrating experience.
(13:06):
Like overall, Andrew waugh in his eight games is hitting
three ninety one, five hundred and seven thirty nine.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yeah that's good, like it.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
I don't know that this is this is both the
legitimately good team. So so you have in our doc here.
Can they keep this up? I despite all the things
I've said in a frustration, I feel like I've been
saying complimentary things in a frustrated voice. I think this
is both the legitimately good team. I do not think
(13:41):
in broad strokes they're they're as good as the Cubs.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Right, this might just be their best Dodgers despite the season, right, Sorry,
I talked to us, maybe just be their best run
of the season, right, which is good. I mean, they
get you to twenty over You're like, yeah, well, and.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
They're already good. Right, yeah, it's it's it is a
good run. And again, they're not beating bad teams now
the Dodgers. It's always hard to kind of disentangle, right, Like,
the Dodgers offense has been in the tank for a
while now. Some of that is facing good pitching. Milwaukee
has good pitching. It is not Milwaukee that is. Like
(14:22):
Mookie Betts has been a problem, right, they bet that
he had a night off, they moved him to the leadoff.
He's just out here saying I'm not good enough right now?
You know, so that's not But and this is one
of the things I don't like about these like you
you catch a team twice and you know, two weeks
(14:44):
or whatever. Right, it's very weird. We've talked about that before.
But I think I don't think there as good as
the Cubs. I don't think they're as good as I
don't know. I don't think they're as good as probably
the Mets Phillies are Dodgers. I think they might.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
They may find out and we may find out the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Yeah, but that doesn't not be in as doesn't mean
they can't win the I mean they very convincingly smashed
the Dodgers here, Like that's not even a question.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Sorry, that's fine. I think the Joe rities has been
better since June. First, he's basically been league average since
since June. They don't have another shortstop. Jake Bauers is
their utility guy. He can't he can't play short They
probably should get somebody else just in case you get
the old Joey RTIs. But like, this team doesn't have
(15:40):
room for Logan Henderson, and I don't think he will.
I don't think that there. I don't think Logan Henderson
sees a major league roster the rest of the year
because there's like twelve guys in front of him, you know,
the Brewers of the Team of Destiny this year when
Aaron Ashby is like good and healthy, healthy, and d
M Hall is here and good. Yeah, like every it's
all coming up at the same time. Yeah, I think
(16:06):
this team, like I'm pretty comfortable with the team being
a post you know, like this team is capable of postseason.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
I think at this point we also say that every year.
And I feel like you can also just see them
getting shut down like good pitching in the playoffs. Sure,
the other probably the problem here.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Everybody can look like a guardian's team.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Because this is kind of what happened, kind of happened
with them against the Mets last year too. They didn't
actually score a lot of runs in that series and
they got shut down by like Cantana man Aya and
you know, I know where I started the other game, probably.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
And eventually you're going to give up some home runs. Yeah,
Like that's what happened in the Met's like you know,
and and those can be big blo.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
You know, if Devin Williams hang us splitter, maybe they
win that series anyway, because like all.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Together, they're very annoying team to face because they put
together these it's harder.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
It's just harder to get three singles in the playoffs,
even if you steal bases a little bit.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
And yeah, well and again you're also going to get
teams optimizing. I mean, look like this this I have
a running joke about it going back to like I
think it was a met You might know it was
a Padres game, but the you know, Dave Roberts doesn't
care about how a game feels or like what what's
happening at that point in the season. He doesn't care
about the narratives. He doesn't care about this stuff. You know,
(17:23):
He's like, yeah, here's uh, it wasn't you know, Here's
Heath Hembury. Was the joke at the time, like this
feels like the playoffs against the Padres and whatever, here's
Heath Hembury in a crucial situation. They they brought in
lu Trevino as a fireman in a crucial situation up one,
and then he gave up the Milwaukee tied it, and
(17:45):
then he brought in to bail out. The fireman will climb.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
You know.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Look, in a lot of ways, Lucerevino has been better
than the Dodgers should have expected, and like has a
bigger place due to injuries in their bullpen then, and
he should otherwise.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Also, did see a story that the Dodgers are going
to be heavy in the reliever market.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Yeah, but I'm just saying, like, this isn't them sending
their best, right, it is will climb in the big moments.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Right, and the Dodgers are like, the Dodgers are going
to also probably get healthy by October. Right, Glass now
is already back.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
And Snell is is. They said one rehab start away.
I'm not this entire season has felt like a Blake
Snell start. I'm gonna like it's both good but also
miserable and whatever. Anyway, my point on the I'm not
I'm sorry for talking about the Dodgers so much because
this is about Milwaukee. But my point is, you're not
gonna get those guys right, right, come come playoff time.
(18:43):
In the leverage spots, they're gonna push whoever their best
guy is. Maybe you'll get him on a third day,
and that's the same, but they're gonna push someone you know,
with better, with better, commander better.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
I guess the counterpoint is, now you're also seeing, you know,
Freddy Parolta and Jacob Misrowski two out of three games,
five games in a short series now, which.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
I mean they haven't had were also twice out of
six scams already.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
But like last year was a lot of like Tobias
Myers and like who was Poovich? Well, but like yeah, but.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
The gap between twenty twenty four Tobias Myers in twenty
twenty five Logan Henderson might be the other you know,
like whatever, I My My point here is, uh, they're
also going to like, you know, the Dodgers. The Brewers
got runs because the Dodgers played es Diary Ruiz and
(19:33):
been good. No he has not is not. No, he
hit a home run yesterday, but he has been frocious defensively,
which is how they got some runs. Ah he he
yeah he has he has nothing good but uh he's
(19:54):
he has no arm. I mean they scored multiple runs
off his arm and left he missed played a ball
with his glove, not just his arm, like there were
and again, Milwaukee's really good at this to be clear,
like other teams might not capitalize where Milwaukee did, so
that is to their credit. But you're not going to
get est Uri Ruiz and left in a in a
(20:16):
playoff situation, right, the Dodgers are for reasons that I
can't really understand when they have both Miguel Rojas and
Tommy Edmund on the field playing Tommy Edmund at third
base in his like eighth career game there and Miguel
Rojas at second. But like you're they scored a run
on on Tommy Edmund throwing, I mean a run came
around eventually after Tommy Edmund made a throwing error from third,
(20:39):
Like you're probably getting team's best defenders at given spots
and stuff like that. And so it's to your point,
it's not that they can't win. They absolutely can, but
you're not going to get the runs are going to
be harder to come by in some of these things.
And when where you can press your advantage in those
(21:00):
little like mental mistakes or uh, you know, defensive miscues,
they they can obviously in the World Series, the kind
of defensive miscues didn't evaporate, like right, some teams have that,
but they can evaporate and and make it a lot
harder to come by those big runs, which is why
(21:21):
you know why team's like a guy who can go
get get a home run by himself and not need
three singles or you know, a single stolen base and
a single stuff like that. I think they're like the
fifth ish best team in the National League. I'd put
them are you know what's that?
Speaker 2 (21:45):
That's usually where they are every year without fail, the
best team in the National League.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah, I mean, I think, and I do think to
your point, like MISARASKI gives them a lot more upside,
yeah than they normally have in the rotation things like that.
Are we good on Milwaukee? Sure? All right, let's go
to our second segment. We're gonna buy and sell some teams. No,
we are not real real now we're doing.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Sorry, I should have probably clarified this is should these
teams be buying or selling?
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
We're buying or selling on these teams to make the playoffs?
All right, let's start. These teams are gonna be buying
or selling. We're gonna make some recommendations. Then we'll start
with Arizona, who just came off a successful series against
the Cardinals. They've now won four in a row. They've
gotten back to five hundred. They are literally fifty and fifty.
(22:40):
Should they be buying or selling?
Speaker 2 (22:44):
It's like they have of the outside of the Twins,
who we'll get to, I think they have the most
interesting group of players. They could trade, right, They have
a Anyway Suarez, they have Josh Naylor, they have Zach
Out so if you want to. But they're also like,
(23:05):
I don't know, are they They're probably not close enough
to a playoff spot right.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Like you'd have to they're four and a half hour
right now.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yeah, you'd have to bet on them being better than
both of the teams in their division that are ahead
of them, and the Giants are fading a little bit.
I think the Giants might be ending up at five hundred,
as we've been saying, it's like May at this point,
and they're heading in that. You know, the Padres are
likely to probably hard buy, even if they're not particularly good,
to sort of hold on to that playoff spot in
(23:34):
the Reds or whatever. So this might just be like
a reload year for them. I think they should sell
given the relative situations.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
The National League. It's sorting itself out, you know, and
not quickly enough. But it's starting to happen, right saying
the wass in Cincinnati, Like, yeah, I don't really buy either,
of them, Atlanta's not making a charge and suddenly, now
you know, if the Giants start to fade, you're now
like Arizona's four and a half back, but they're not
four and a half back with that many teams right now, right,
(24:09):
And it is the Padres who are starting Randy Dans kids.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Yeah, and they are going to play the Padres and
Giants a fair bit down the stretch.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Right.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
The schedule is I think you're right in that. I
think it's gonna be too lucrative to sell, right.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
I think that I think in like a year, like so,
there's a lot of teams that need a third basement,
and they have the best third basement. Yeah, there's a
lot of teams that need that want to starter. And
I know Gallon hasn't been great, but he might end
up being the best starting patcher available. You got him
versus Mitch Keller at this point.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
I said this a lot on. I said this on
I was on Vince Gennaro's Radis show over the weekend.
But like, I think Arizona has the chance, to your point,
to own this deadline.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Yeah, and then like Naylor, like every team's gonna want
nailor somewhere right if they don't need a first basement
out now yeah bad?
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
The you know, ironically, if they wanted to buy the
Jordan Lawler they clearly don't need right.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Well, no, but that's that's also the Also if you
want to do again, no one, no one's really going
to be Detroit where they sell him and take it like,
could you trade a you Henning as far as and
just actually give Jordan Lawler a chance? Yes? And that
might work out? Okay, I wouldn't be optimistic, but but
it might.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
If you had asked me if I thought bringing back
Parker Meadows was going to work out for Detroit last summer,
I would have told you I don't think it's gonna
work out, but it might. I actually might not not
have even said but it might, you know. So I
was wrong on that. So yeah, I think they absolutely
should be selling at this point. I I understand their
(25:49):
fifty and fifty. I understand we're saying like the teams
in front of them are flawed, and they are flawed,
but like they like that.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
The problem is like I just don't rotate, I don't
buy has been.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Such a bad shape, and of course the only everyone's
talking about selling Gallon, but Gallen is the reason they're selling.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Right, yes, And and also they can they can trade
Shelby Miller for something, right, they can get something for
not a ton of their relievers or anything, but like
you can get something for him, and and you're gonna
either have to reacquire him, right. I think he's on
a one year deal, so I don't know. I I
(26:27):
think it's uh.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah, I mean yeah, Justin Martinez is hurt. J A. J.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Puck's hurt.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Like this, you could justify just reloading, but like that rotation,
I think they need to trade Gallon just so that
they can force themselves to find a replacement for Gallon,
so they can actually look at this rotation over again, because.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
I mean, losing Corbyn burns hurt them, yeah so much.
And you know, I know they've gotten mostly healthy elsewhere.
You know, Corbyn, Carroll's back and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
But it's wild to think that only seven pitchers have
started a game for this team. Ryan Nelson has been
great and Rod Rodriguez is not, but he just keeps pitching.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Yeah, you're throwing him.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Brandon Fought's been out there every single day. Every single turn.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
The seventh starter is so funny.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Yeah, it's very funny. Anthony did not know he was
on this team. Yep, Anthony did not know he was
back in baseball?
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Did you? Speaking of which, did you know Aramis Aramis
Garcia excuse me had played for this team? Utter news
to me.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Thirty two year old catchers are all the rage these days.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
I feel like, yeah, I I don't know. I just
they can you know, they can probably move Randall Gridhack
for you know, to a team looking for a lefty
masher strengthening their bench or or platoon situation. I think
(28:07):
they Yeah, I think they have the opportunity to do it,
and they can come back next year. It's not gonna
be these are all these are mostly like one year guys, right,
So I don't know. That's uh, that's where I go. Yeah,
let's move on, let's art. Let's move on to the Twins.
They are five back in the AL. They're they're behind
(28:31):
the Guardians, their third and they're third in their own division.
There are three games under five hundred. Should they be
buying or we're selling?
Speaker 2 (28:41):
So they even more than the Diamondbacks might be able
to really make Hey, here if they decided to trade
Joe Ryan mm hmm. I mean, obviously, you know Duran jack.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
That can change.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
They have the best starter potentially in the market, and
they have best reliever.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
A lot of teams have potentially the best starter on
the market, but none of them are actually on the market.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
So if they chose to make theirs on the market
as opposed to everyone else, well, no.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
I understand that, but I'm just saying that. Well, but
if multiple teams decide, then maybe they're not. They don't
have the best starter on the market, right, is my point.
I just I don't know. Yes, they could, they could put.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
They definitely have the best reliever in the market because
they have the best reliever, Jackon by d A. Griffin.
Jackson is just basically the best reliever in baseball right now.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Sure, and they have a number of relievers so it
wouldn't necessarily be the end of the world if they
if they dealt off one of them. I mean, Louis
Varland has a.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Year. Ah. I don't know. Like the problem with the
Twins is, I just look at the way this team
is built. I just don't see how it can work well.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
And we know Byron Buxton is not trade laws and
he said, I'm I'm a Minnesota twin for life.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
So I mean the way it works is you get
like Byron Buxton, and you know Byron Buckson layed one
hundred fifty games, which he's not going to this year,
but eighty. Yeah, it's only sixty left, Craig, I know
(30:30):
he's not, but for him, it's a very good at
the very great great Like they can just never keep
their guys healthy, right, that's.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Well and also before the season started, where like Willie
Castro can't play all eight positions and essentially he is
the only bench player that is not a disaster on
this team.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Right, and they probably should trade him because he's a
strict rental and he's another guy that like teams are
actually gonna, you know, playoff finners will actually give you
a nice prospect for because of his you know, not
like a top one on one guy. Rayce Luis is
an injured and bad which is the first time that's happened.
I mean, she's been hurt and then bad when he's played.
When first time that's happened. Yeah, I just it's a
(31:10):
good system. They don't have a ton of like Zebbie Matthews,
who is ninety eight now and is worst then he
was throwing ninety one. Somehow they can't keep pop Has
on the Like the idea is you get thirty starts
from Pablo Up has one hundred and fifty games from
Byron Bucks in release so this next year. But that's
just not going to happen.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
So yep, they have the big step back.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
They have the ownership stuff, they have the TV stuff.
To their best hitter this year outside of Bucks and
has been Cody Clemens.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
That's yeah. I mean they're getting an eight sixty ops
from Cody Clemens in one hundred and seventy played appearances.
It is kind of wild. They can trade Harrison Bader.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Yeah, Harrison Batter's been very good. They're probably trade him.
He's on a one year deal and teams can always
use a fourth outfielder. They can hit lefts good defender too.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
They should be getting Luke Keishall back at.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Some point at some point. Yeah, And that was kind
of like one of.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Their many injury prone players. He just broke his arm.
Yeah he wasn't. Maybe he will be, but he wasn't.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
Yeah, I mean I think this is a this is
a cell. But I don't know. I don't know that
I would trade Joe Ryan right. I just like I
don't know that you're gonna get the Godfather deal for Joe. Yeah,
he might not ultimately if you don't. I'm not saying
he's not worth it. It's the thing is he I
think he might be.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
But but I don't think you're gonna run back this
back next year with like it's gonna have the same problem.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Is going to be a year old.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
That's just that's the option they have.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
And you can't. Right with Ryan, you can always just
hold him and he's not. Yeah, I mean that's fine.
They I do not think they should feel like they
have to trade Joe Ryan right.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
He's not a You're just saying he would be by
far are the best pitcher available, and he still has
some team control left. It's two plus, so.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Yes, it's he's a free agent.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
I think entering like you could, I feel like you
could get like the Jose Kintana return for him here
right where you get like significant prospects at the top
of it.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
That there are a number there are number of teams
that need a front line. You know again, Boston needs
a frontline start.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
He will he will start probably like game two of
your playoff series, right, like like the Phillies.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Who are you getting from Boston? Or who Toronto needs one?
They don't really have.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Toronto has the prospects now.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Kind But you're saying that the Kantana return was z
and oh it was a lawyer and.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
And who I should remember this shouldn't the thing I
should remember.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
It was mostly two players, right too, yeah, big, it.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Was two big players. I just remember. The second big
player was well, I'm also not.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Great not great for me either, Oh, Dylan sees right, nobody.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah, yeah, So we're talking about like a top five prospect,
top ten prospect in baseball, a top fifty pitching prospect,
basically how you want.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
So, yeah, I mean for Toronto that's that's like Nima.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
In the Savage, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
And your Savage, right.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
For Boston that's I.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Don't know, that's like one of the Big three and
Peyton Totley, right or maybe they like Connie early More.
I don't know, like they can do it. But yeah,
it's like when you start actually.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Hubs Cubs don't Speaking of the Cubs.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Clubs, don't have the pieces.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
I don't have that.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, the Mets could do it for like Jet Williams
and Nolan McClain maybe.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
I mean, Joe Ryan's been really good this year.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
I think I'm not saying he's not worth it. I'm
not sure if other teams are gonna view him in
that way. He's been good.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
He hasn't been this good before. But he's got a
pretty high floor too on the back of it.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
But I'm not I wouldn't fault the Twins for demanding
that again, especially given the market. I think they should
demand that. I also don't know.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
I mean he's like quietly having like the Brett Saberhagen season,
Like he's not walking anybody, he's striking out over a
batteran inning he gives up home runs sound again, because
you know he's pretty fast own the Twins.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
If the Twins trade Joe Ryan for Marcelo Meyer and
Peyton Totley, yeah, r I p the mass Pike nickname
by the way, Like do you feel good about that
as a Twins fan? No?
Speaker 2 (36:06):
But also like they're not going to extend him. Yeah,
he's already twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
I wouldn't feel very good.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Meaningfully if he does. If he does a when is
this year? Do you think it's a meaningfully different return
for one plus next year? I think so, Okay, I do.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
They'll still get a good return for him.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
But like they're not now, I might the next Nima.
I might feel good about Nimola and the Savage.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Sure they don't order track. I mean, I guess they
don't actually have a shorter track record than Peyton totally.
But yeah, I don't like, when's the next Good Twins
team happening?
Speaker 1 (36:47):
There's a lot of like, given health, it could be
again something a lot of this year is has desiccated.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Out, like Jose Miranda and nod Wad Whulian do not
look like major leaguers right now. No, I agree, like
Willi Castro has been one of the as you said,
in the better round players to the free agent like,
they're not going to be aggressive on the free agent
market or in by trades. I don't think they have
a pretty good system. They could be, but they historically
really haven't with this, Like I.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Mean, but again, Luke Kishaw, look legit, I'm not I'm
not saying his major league sample, which is.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Small, I think he's a good but again, like they've
gotten they're gonna get one hundred and thirty hundred and
forty games out of Byron Buckston, right, Like, is that
really repeatd.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
They're gonna get it getting a one thirty ops plus
out of Cody Clements.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Right, they're under five hundred and they're like shedding three
wins from Willie Castro and hate Harrison Bader at the
end of the season.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Yeah, I think if you're if you want to sketch
out a better a better season for the Twins, you
would say you can. Absolutely you should be able to
improve first base on the relative cheap. You shouldn't necess
really have to to. Uh you know that's been ty
France and it's been bad, which obviously they should have
(38:06):
been able to do that this year and they didn't.
But you should be able to do that. Right. You
get Luke Kishaw for a season I think I think
is a good player. Yeah, you get a better season
from Matt Walner. This is absolutely what he's done now
is absolutely in the mix.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
But yeah, I think just what Matt Warner is, I think.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
You can say higher than league average, Yeah you can.
I'm not saying it will be, but I think you
can say that. I think you can. You can get
better offense from brooks Lee. I think you can get
better off I'm just saying there are the problem is
cost them nothing, right.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
They're also a way behind the Tigers at this point,
like not even the same with the stuff they've done.
I'm the same strategy. Sure, so how hard do you
want to push for a wild card spond? Right?
Speaker 1 (38:59):
But that's their but like that's literally their option.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Their owner is trying to sell the team like I.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Don't know, Okay, I don't know. I guess we don't
have anything more in the time.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
I think a lot of them, okay, and what time we.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Gonna let's go to the Twins of the National League.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
Yes, they're like they ended up not sweeping the Mets,
but they could have been more than like two games
of the Mets by the yep end of that series.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
It's been on a nice run yep, and they have
like you look at.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
The scene, all of a sudden the front of that run.
Obviously Hunter Green isn't there, but yet Andrew Abbott, you've got,
uh Nicolodola has been healthy.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
The top line stuff is what I had.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
The one bad start against.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
The strikeouts in sixteen and there's front of the rotation potential. Yep. Yeah,
lineup is just like the lineup is killing them.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
They've gone from having too many position players and not
having nearly enough position players that it happened in.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
Scene as they did that two years ago, and they've
just been stuck in neutral on the lineup. Austin Hayes
phenomenal pickup. This lineup is Elie de Lacruz and Austin
his and noelvi Marte. Noelvie Marte has had a nice
comeback season. Everyone else is is and and look they
(40:38):
are trying. Matt Trew Blode wrote a game, one of
his game day pieces very good on yesterday's game, the
game they lost to the Mets. They are trying. Terry
Francona is trying with this lineup. He put Noelvie Marte
in a corner outfield spot so so he could play
Santiago Espinal against the lefty. He's been like league averagesh
(41:03):
against against against lefties. He's been atrocious. First rietis But
my point is Francona is trying like he's you know,
I don't know, Yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
Think Spencer Steer. Spencer Steer has been hitting better. Uh,
Matt MacLean has been hitting better, like Noelvie Marte has
been fine since June. Like you could see, like there
are outs here, there are ways for you to see
this lineup like looking common. It's weird that Spencer Steer
(41:38):
was this bad for this long, right, like you it's
it's weird to think anything effective, ye right, yeah, but
it you know, I don't know. I don't think it's
I I feel more optimistic about this team than some
of the others because at least, you know, you have
Leada La Cruz who has been also on fire lately.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
You know, Here's here's my argument. I think they should
buy if that's where you're going. Yeah, Patrick, I think
they should buy because I mean, this is what they've
been building towards for years and not getting, Like you
might have.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
This sixth playoff spot.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Yes, well, but my point is the playoffs they need
to do something with. They all the guys are here. Now,
they're not all good, but they're all here. My problem is,
what the hell are you trading to get what you
might need? What are you going to trade to buy?
(42:35):
It's a good question. You know, you know what's that.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
That's a good question.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
Yeah, you know this system better than I do. But
it's there's I don't know that there's much.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
Yeah, like Louder being hurt obviously is an issue here,
but like if he wasn't hurt, you probably wouldn't be
trading out Louder. He'd probably be in your starting rotation.
You know, you have guys that have seen some major
league time, like Reese Hines and things like that, but.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
Like some maybe some signs.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
I mean, like look, it's it's afraid of to know,
it's South Stewart, it's Camp Callier, maybe somebody. I mean,
Tyson Lewis is their best prospect at the moment. He's
also in the Arizona Complex League.
Speaker 3 (43:17):
I mean, what the Reds like this? The Reds will
never do this, but what they probably should do is
just use money. Right, they have the twenty fourth rank payroll. Yeah,
if you if you decide to make that twenty three
eighteenth for one year.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
But they're the Twins, right, Like, I like, we can't
even like they're not they're not, but the Twins, even
the Twins, Like if they were the Twins, that would
give them twenty million to work, you know.
Speaker 3 (43:40):
Like they have like they twins.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
They probably can put a deal together for audiosus be
very funny to bring him back. But they can put
a deal together for like for a rental but third basement,
which they badly.
Speaker 3 (43:53):
Need, they badly could use.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
You can probably trade you know, Chase Petty or hectorrectly mar.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
Like yeah, he's not but he's not. I mean's he
is the third base if.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
You want to get an outfielder instead, like they could
use Harrison Bader, right, It's not gonna cost him that much.
Their pens doesn't. Yeah, like there's not there, he's problems
like a not let The problem the Reds have is
like they actually need like a significant upgrade here, and
they don't like the market may just not bear that, right,
Like they could use Hayeseus Sanchez, but like is he
(44:28):
really a huge upgrade for them?
Speaker 1 (44:29):
Right? I mean what, Yeah, I don't. If you put
Noelvie Marte at third instead of Espanol and like their their.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
B ref, then you have like you know, like Jake Failey,
a spot is Matt McLean right, and like they're gonna
keep playing McLain. They're just gonna.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
Yeah, they and they have to McLean. So McLean, says
June uh two sixty three forty one, four eleven.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
Which is probably about what I would have expected for
a McLane when he's not running a four to ten
bab up or whatever he did his rookieyear.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
Yeah, three fourteen, And.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
Like again it's like Lux hasn't been awful. No, he's
a very bad defender throw, but like he's like they
have a bunch of they don't really have that zero
outside of Espinal in their lineup, and you can cover
that with Martine now, but they really they're not a
team that can survive with like a bunch of one
(45:28):
hundred opius plus guys because they have holes in their rotation.
You know, Nick Martinez and Brady's singer have not been good.
Their pen is fine, but it's not.
Speaker 3 (45:36):
Like their pen is fine in a way that could
not be fine.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
In a week, right, Yes, Like Tony Santalon looks good
against the Mets, like thrown, but he's all and he's
been good, but he also he can be a little
home run prone and you know, like there's no like
shut like Emilio pagan as their closest to it shut
down reliever here yet and because he gives up one
point five home runs for.
Speaker 3 (45:59):
Not right, he's shut down except for the days when
he isn't. Yeah, I'm curious. I'm want to look up
what Cincinnati's bullpen dary is because I'm sure it's not good.
Let's see Split's viroll. Cincinnati's bullpen is twenty sixth ranked
by Deer. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
Yeah, I mean guys who like figure it out right,
like they're not No. One. You don't have them enter
the game and feel like this is shut down in
the city or whatever. You know what I mean. It's
not Eric Ganya game over it is. It's Brent Suitor
and Taylor Rogers and Emilia.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
Pagan, Scott Barlow. It's like like they're all guys like
you like, weirdly, it's a lot of guys you've heard of, yeah,
but who haven't been bad. But like it's also like, do.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
You mean Graham Ashcraft came through their system, He's fine.
I don't know. It would be very funny, I would.
I would love to see like if they did like
a challenge Trader with one of their starters with theon
for like Jared Duran mhm, that would be very funny
to me, Nick Ladolo, for for Jared Durant, I don't
(47:09):
think they can train. They probably can't, but they also
need Yeah you know what I mean, Like, I don't know,
it's off the top of my head.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
I think I think the Red should just go for it,
that they should should.
Speaker 1 (47:21):
But again like yeah, you're right, but just Collier, Yes,
but like to whom for what?
Speaker 3 (47:28):
Yeah? Now, I just think you want Chake Failey as
your fourth outfielder, which he really should have.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
It's probably you probably shouldn't do this because it's just
a rental. But like to your point about about the line,
like if you can get Josh Naylor, yeah, like that's
a that's a big help. Mmmuh. You know Austin Hayes
is their d H. Maybe that's the reason he's remained
somewhat upright, But you can try him in left field.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
You can move Stare around too, like.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Doesn't need to first Yeah, absolutely right, Yeah, yeah, so
I don't know. All right, one more team.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
It is not the Angels plan.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
The plane you know the Angels are gonna buy so.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
The plane yogurt. The San Francisco Giants, what are our thoughts.
Speaker 2 (48:21):
I mean they can't really, They've already bought, right, They've
already bought.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
They've already are going to buy. Sure, yeah are they
what are they going to buy more of now?
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Pitching? Probably well the Yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
I mean Genny just wrote about this. We did a
deadline dreaming on the on the Giants.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
Yeah, I mean yeah, they're such a frustrating team. I
mean they need to replace for Lander. They're not going
to replace for a Lander. He's got to get his
first win of the season at some point.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
Uh, First and second base are pretty big dead spots.
Our projections have them twenty projective for twenty six out
of thirty at first and twenty eighth at second.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
Yeah. Yeah, Don Smith is not the answer. I mean
he's been fine as it turns out. Yeah, weird. Yeah,
I and I don't know. They're they're farm very well.
It doesn't feel like they have a ton of pieces
for this stuff either. Wilmer Flores is back to below
the league average.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
On They're not gonna trade Eldridge, right, they could use Eldridge. Yeah,
the Giants, I mean, what.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
What do they have to I mean they had like
the Lolo minors guys Johnny Level and house War Gonzales.
They're not gonna well, I don't think they're gonna trade
Level or I mean they might. I don't know what
Buster Posey's gonna do. Yeah, fair enough, might I mean
Buster Posey might see a guy in the DSL and
be like I didn't sign this dude at all. Whatever
(49:56):
somebody wants.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
I guess they have some some arms other teams.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
Might.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
I mean like yeah, Wisn't Hunt and yeah, like those
kind of guys.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
Littis Bell Diez hits the ball very hard. He does
low minder. That's all he does. It's not not in
the air and it strikes out.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
You know, maybe you get a team to bite on
Da Coda Jordan. But Bo Davidson's having like he's twenty three,
but he's having a big He's like got a top
up season yep.
Speaker 1 (50:33):
And yeah, like there's big trade. They probably kind of
need him, but you could trade bird Song.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
I just don't. I think they'll be aggressive, but I
also don't think it'll be a particular they're gonna buy,
Like we're supplementing a playoff roster and they're not a
playoff roster. Yet I feel like, I mean they're in
the playoffs at the moment.
Speaker 1 (50:57):
Yes, at the moment if the sea and ended today, yes,
I mean their entire William Thomas has been what are they?
I'm sorry, they've lost five in a row. They got
swept this this weekend. I missed that, but they were
(51:21):
They're close.
Speaker 2 (51:22):
They're close, They're close enough to consider buying.
Speaker 1 (51:24):
Yes, this whole infield has been well for a second
and and the other things. I don't know that they're
going to move on from Patrick Daily, but they maybe should.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
Yeah, I mean, like where you find another catcher right now?
Though that's like he's such a good defender that you
just run him out there for the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
Like if Minnesota sells, you can probably get Ryan Jeffers.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
Yeah, teams don't like to unless it's like an elite. Yeah,
but you can deem you don't like to trade their
catchers and.
Speaker 1 (51:57):
With the offensive trade off and he can dage sure
right like they're there, dh is Wilmer Flories right now and.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
To pass this point like he's come back to Yeah,
I think they're just going to finish with like eighty
two winds no matter what they do.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
So yeah, it is the Giants.
Speaker 2 (52:16):
It is the Giants.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
Yeah. On that note, we can take a break and
we'll be back with the rest of worship. Welcome back
(52:43):
to episode four hundred and seventy six of five and five.
We're going around the horn in section three. Patrick, congratulations.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
Well, you know, it's like a sliver in your hand
having this thing go on. You just you can live
with it, but it's annoying.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
David Robertson has signed for six million dollars, so what
is it? Pro rated?
Speaker 3 (53:06):
It pro rated it basically, it was just it was
the fifteen million he wanted all along. It was okay,
pro rated down to whatever's left. And yeah, so the
Phillies get the most important third of David Robinson season.
David Robertson gets to not work for two thirds of
his season. I guess.
Speaker 1 (53:24):
It looked good in a in a bullpen session, but
he's got to ramp up. Uh. He is immediately injected
into maybe the closers situation. It's like, but is he
any better? I mean, he's probably better than Jordan Romano,
but like, I don't is it different than a Ryan
Kirkery or whatever. But to Patrick's point is like then
(53:44):
whoever is whoever it is, whether whoever gets the closer job,
whether it's Straw or Kirkeraan or Robertson, someone else gets
to throw the eighth in in which is equally as
important for Philly. Right now, it's just money, Like it's
just money.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
It's great best with the tradeadline.
Speaker 1 (54:01):
Yeah, I again my favorite, So I would I would
not mind seeing David Robertson if David Robertson was worth
this now then, and I think he was then.
Speaker 3 (54:14):
I think he was worth seven million three weeks ago.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
Yeah, he's also like supposed to be throwing eighty nine
to ninety one, and I know he just what he does,
but like he's cutter, was like ninety three last year,
like he just and maybe there's more in there. He's
also in his forties now there might.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
Just not maybe a great brewers starter.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
It's fine. They had to do this, right, they didn't
have to do this, but Dave dun Browsey was going
to do something like that and this only costs money.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
This is one of those things also where like you're right,
he's thirty nine and he like the like this is
one of those things where it could just and he's
a reliever, so like bad Adams could make this bad.
Speaker 3 (54:55):
David Robertson has had that third of pens.
Speaker 1 (54:58):
Yes, yeah, was it the Mark Did the Marlins buy him?
Speaker 3 (55:02):
Where did they the Marlins? The Marlins got Yeah, the
Marlins had the disaster the year from he when he
went to the Phillies, he just like blew out his arm.
He got like six innings from him and he yep, yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
But good for sure it's worth it's worth it.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
Yeah, they got it. They again, they don't have to,
but they're going to.
Speaker 1 (55:25):
Elsewhere in the East. The Mets have recalled Francisco Alvarez.
They fixed him.
Speaker 2 (55:31):
Well, we'll see.
Speaker 3 (55:33):
He slug seven fifty seven and Syracuse.
Speaker 2 (55:37):
Yeah, he's also running a forty percent chase rate and
like forty five percent with against second.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
Swinging everything until I got the number of home runs
I needed.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
To probably got as well.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
Yeah, but there's been enough of Lae Torrens started.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
Oh yeah, another base runner yesterday did.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
Yeah, he got his His contact was like fifty something
down there for a while. It ended up at seventy five,
so I don't know what. Yeah, he is pulling the
ball in the air more we'll see, we'll see, we'll
see what happens. But he has like one one conversation
with Eric Chavez and the dugout after he pulls off
a slider and see how it goes from there.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
But yeah, the Guardians are apparently listening. Although unlikely, still
unlikely to move Emmanuel Class and Cad Smith.
Speaker 2 (56:25):
Sure have you even put together a deal for Kate Smith?
Speaker 3 (56:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (56:29):
He's got like some of the Mason milk, Like he's older,
not that old, but he's like older. He hasn't hit
r yet. It's a ton of control. But he's also
a reliever. But he's not like a fireball or fireballer
right like.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
He's he just strikes out thirteen and a half.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
Pay Yeah, I don't know how you put together a
deal for this, I mean I do. It's probably just
like a lot better prospects than you think it would.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
Be, right, Cleveland makes a lot of sense.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
But sure, yeah, Cleveland has a just just playoff chance, Yeah,
from our projections right now? Which for Cleveland? I mean,
I think Cleveland would be willing to sell at something
sixty percent playoff chance. Yeah. I was gonna ask between
(57:14):
these two which would you rather have it's Smith, right,
I mean, like.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
Yeah, I'm especially given that well, I don't.
Speaker 1 (57:20):
Know contract aside just performance, like it's.
Speaker 3 (57:23):
Yeah, I don't even know which one's cheaper honestly at
this point, like it's for in terms of prospect hall right, like.
Speaker 1 (57:28):
I think close, I would think there's I know he
is a cheap deal, but there's there's money.
Speaker 2 (57:35):
He's been a little more up and down the last
couple of seasons, right, he is a guy that sort
of burned hot and fast.
Speaker 3 (57:43):
I will also sorry, go ahead, I think you're gonna
say what I was about to say.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
Oh, I was, well No. On ESPN, they put out
their their top fifty I think I said before Stephen
Kwan was number two on that list. They only give
him a twenty percent chance of being dealt, which is
reasonable because he's really good. I don't know that Cleveland
should be dealing him. But again, if they if Cleveland
wants to similar to Arizona, if they want to own
(58:08):
this deadline, they can, ah, they they could make a
pretty penny.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
On Yeah, two and a half years of control left
on Kwan.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
But you know he's gonna get expensive for them, right,
So if they want to an absolute prospect Hall, I've
already had a Dodger's friend telling me go get Quan
and Classe. And would that answer a lot of questions
for the Dodgers. Almost certainly.
Speaker 3 (58:39):
They wouldn't answer the question of why Michael Conforto.
Speaker 1 (58:42):
But you know, but it makes you stop asking even
if it's even if it doesn't answer it, you no
longer have to ask it, which I mentioned, so I
will say it's and it's not completely out of over.
There wasn't ESPN Los Angeles like radio guys talking about this.
I don't believe that they have real sources, but that's fine. Jeff.
(59:05):
Would you like to know the package that they said
for Kwan? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (59:11):
Kuan and Okay, yeah, sure, lay it on me.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
It's very interesting that they started with the guys that
they start with. But I'll go in the order that
they Okay, justin Roblaski, Okay, it's very funny, very Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
Yeahs not the first piece I would have thought of,
but yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
Ben Casparius, Sure, Josie Depaula, Sure, and another prospect.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
Okay, and another prospect covers a lot.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
Is right, Yeah, covers a lot of it. Leaves a
lot of a lot of things. Answer. Again, I don't
think these guys, I want to be very clear. I
don't think there's like real sourcing here. I also think
like that's potentially light for both of them.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
I think that the other prospect might have to be
like Emil Morales or Jackson Farris or like another game.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Sure who's who who has had a bad season but
has put it together as last few starts.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
And it's also very guardians.
Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
Yeah for sure, right, yeah, absolutely, I mean, look, Caspirius
and Roblesque are both very guardians, but like they are
also Joe's waite to Paula is.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
That they need they need an outfielder, especially they're trading Kwan,
so he's are ways away. So but they don't care
about that part.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Yeah right, that's that's great for that they do. I mean, look,
there are other I was surprised not to kind of
see more arms in. I would expect more arms in
a mix like that, even if it's just for a reliever, right,
like just but the point is that, I guess my
point is whether it's the Dodgers or not, I think
(01:00:46):
a lot of other teams would be.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
Teams are going to be calling right, like, especially in me,
how bad the outfield market is A yeah, we're talking
about like Harrison Bader and Louise Roberts.
Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
And also I don't I don't want to, but like
if you're going to the playoffs, like Stephen Kwant again,
you're you're talking about elite defense, great base runner and
just one of the most annoying at bats you can
right everything in the.
Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
Zone south yield where you put him either lead off
for Lindor and Soto or in between Lindor and Soto
instead of like Mark Biento sitting.
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
There and like a million percent and it's it's it's
just one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
And so back to back is just absolutely gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
It's a hell just because you're not Yeah, I mean
and again like there there there are a number of
teams that would just I think froth at the mouth
for for a guy like that, especially going into just
he's gonna I don't even know his playoff line or whatever,
but the the way the shape of his profile is
(01:01:50):
so nice to have in the lineup in that kind
of situation. Uh, let's take a step back on on
kind of level of as we're talking about here. Texas
has traded Dane Dunning to Atlanta because.
Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
Sure Atlanta needs another starter to sign on.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
Is he a starter?
Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
Is?
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
Yeah, You've done this with Grant Holmes and Raynaldo Lopez.
Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
Usually those guys are just like good relievers who turned
into starters and not just failed starters who turned into starters.
But that's where we are with the Atlanta Braids.
Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
I know Grant Holmes was kind of just a failed start.
I know they had them in relief in the miners
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
But like I mean, most relievers are failed starters to
begin with.
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
Sure, but not like quite so recently, not right start something.
Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
Speaking of a guy who tried to I believe tried
to come back as a starter with Atlanta once upon
a time, Trevor Cahill was he did he end up
in Atlanta at some point? I feel like he did.
Probably we have a slew of retirements, Yes, twenty he
was in Atlanta. By the way, we have a slow
of retirements. Trevor k. Hill, Daniel Bard, and Kyle Gibson.
(01:03:04):
Patrick's just not Patrick.
Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
It's really it's really like it's news, but not like
news to think about just this is this is like,
you know, like it's like barn is an interesting picture.
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
Bart.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
You know, Daniel Bard's had a great career. It's been
a fun career. Not always great like results wise, but
always fascinating. The other two pictures may be the least
fascinating pictures of the of the era.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Man, I thought Trevor Kale was going to be so good,
did you? Yeah, I don't believe.
Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
As a prospect. Absolutely, I cannot imagine having that feeling
about Trevor Cale. I can't remember like like looking at
a piece of toast and oh man, this toast is
gonna taste so great, Like, oh.
Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
Again, this reflects poorly on me. But I absolutely thought,
I mean, like he he was. You go back to
two thousand and eight in the Cow League, he had
one hundred and three strikeouts in eighty seven and the
third innings he'll have fifty two hits, and it's like
he generated a massive number of grounders, And I thought,
(01:04:14):
that's it. That's all you. That's all you gotta do, strikeouts.
His walks weren't out of control grounders back at the time. Right,
I thought he was gonna be great.
Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
You know, Like I think it is funny that of
the three if I'm checking to make sure only Daniel
Barr did not make the All Star team. Gibson and
k Hill both made one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:38):
That's pretty I mean he was kl his second year
was on the Cy Young that he is night and
cy Young voting.
Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Well, the Gibson's the only one without without a cy
Young ballot. Yeah, Cy Young down down ballot. But with
that checks Bar did get one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
All right, that's it for Around the Horn. We're bringing
back everyone's favorite segment. What's the Watch?
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
There's sort of getting there.
Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
We've gone, We've gone decently long, but there's not that
like we're still just coming out of the All Star break.
There's just not that much happening just yet. So we're
going what to watch? Who wants to start off? That
can't be. It can't be start.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
I'm sorry, Okay, I will start because I have the best,
like pay for matchup. It's the Jay's against the Yankees.
You know, it's Getty is only sixty games, sixtyish games
left in the season. Toronto's got a not insignificant lead,
but the Yankees can pair it down a little bit
with this series games. It's three games, it's three games.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
They can get there, and the Blue.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Jays have played pretty well since they're run like well
enough to keep this lead over the rest of the division,
so scoring some runs they have.
Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Did you see also, did you see this is this
is just esoterica. But did you see there was a
report that Addison Barger put up a one to fifteen
exit velo as a righty in batting practice. No, I didn't.
That's that's pretty fun if true, that's fun.
Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Yeah, Like this is a this is like like neither
these teams feel great, but it's a good and important matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
I guess.
Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
Yeah, the dream they you get.
Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
Pitching matchups aren't great because neither of these, like vot
these teams need a starter.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
Gosman rodn sure sure, like I'm sure, Well, you're not
going to get a great Toronto Like that's just not happening.
If you want, if you want old versus New, you
get a Cam Schlitzer versus Max Sureser and of who.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
I've been dealing with little arm issues recently, so.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
Sure, And then you get Max Freed and Chris Bass. Yeah,
you just you're not gonna get the great counterweight to
Max Freed or whatever from from Toronto. They don't have it,
they can go get Joe Ryan, right, I mean like
that would be better. All right, Patrick, you.
Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
Are all right, thank you. Uh So, my goal for
this was to look for all these teams that we
were talking about buying and selling, because this is the
ten days where somebody's going to separate themselves. Unfortunately, none
of them play each other, and because most of them
played each other last weekend. So I picked the Reds
and Nationals. The Nationals do not matter. Do not think
about them. This is the Reds playing. Basically, this is
(01:07:20):
this is see if the Reds have it, and the
national should provide a nice little punching bag if they're
If the Reds are capable of punching, don't watch the
first game. But then you won't have to because this
podcast won't come out by the time this game is over.
That's Brady Singer versus Jake Irvan. Do not think about that.
But then you've got you get a chance to watch
Chase Burns against Brad Lord who again, Yeah, no has
(01:07:47):
been pitching. He's been released.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Yeah started.
Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
I thought start whatever the Nationals.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Every National starter is a relief, do not he had.
Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
Started six games? Yeah he has sixty five. So he's
done a number.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Of Yeah, he's actually done one of their best pictures.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
He's probably pitched against the match.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
Whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
I don't it's Brad Lord, You're not.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
Going to remember Brad Laurd clearly I did. Also, I
feel bad because I'm talking ship on Toronto starts. If
it's what's what the real shame of it all is?
You're missing Eric Lower.
Speaker 3 (01:08:23):
That's there is right now?
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Yeah, go ahead anyway?
Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
Day three Nico Nico like, yes, he gets hurt. He's
just good like.
Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
He's also feel like he's hitting batters like a lot
about it.
Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
He's gonna hit in Nashville. Who cares against Michael Soroka
again a believer pretending to be a starter. Uh, this this,
this series may not mean anything. If the Reds really
should sweep like, that's kind of like the meaning sweep,
right like, and.
Speaker 1 (01:08:51):
It's it's gonna mean something in the sensy if they don't, right,
it means this is also one of those like Boston's
recent ten game, they finally played. They played the Cubs,
they suffered a loss, right like that snapped their win streak,
but they beat up on the Nationals and Rockies. As
a significant part of that win streak. Like you gotta
(01:09:13):
beat up on the teams, yes, that you're supposed to,
So like that is that is what's at stake for
Cincinnati here.
Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
And finally, if Cincinnati doesn't tweet the series, you can
close the book on them this year and never think
nothing again. So this is this is your last chance,
last chance to see on the Reds.
Speaker 1 (01:09:28):
Honestly, Chee Burns versus Nationals line up should be.
Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
Pretty Yeah, that should be fun.
Speaker 1 (01:09:33):
Yeah, I went with Boston and Philadelphia just two. Fan
base is always in a state of aggravation. I feel
like Boston did win their most recent one against the
Cubs eight and two. Still in their last ten they
are two back of New York, so they I mean,
(01:09:55):
this is a big series for them in that whoever
wins in Toronto versus New York. If Boston can win,
it's a big game.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
They didn't come out from the break either against the Corsage.
Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
Win against the Cubs in the Sunday's game, but two
losses there, and you know, Phi Philadelphia is half game
up on the Mets right now. It's a big series.
Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Lost three to the Angels, right Yeah, so there.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
There's much at stake for both of these teams. Again,
they're always kind of in a state of agitation, both
of these these fan bases. I think it should. I
think there's a fair amount given where they are and
not that not so neither of these teams is necessarily
gonna lose everything with these losses. But there's a lot
to be gained from their wins. But Boston's only a
(01:10:45):
game and a half ahead of Tampa right now, and
again given the other series, that's that's a big one
for them. I did I had the matchups set up.
You get get let's see, it was not as exciting
Buehler and Wheeler, So the Phillies probably come out. I'm
(01:11:07):
just who knows, but probably I believe you get Richard
Fitz and Christopher Sanchez in game two, and then you
get maybe the best just overall matchup, but Lucas Giolito
and jesus Lozardo for the last one. Luzardo, by the way,
we've not really talked about just mid four z r
(01:11:29):
A Again. Yeah, I know we have the blow ups,
but just somehow on all right, that takes us to Sikos.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
So we'll give you, We'll give you some options because boy,
this Wednesday getaway day schedule or something. Uh, Giants and Braves,
you get Justin Verlander against Spencer Strider, Detroit and Pittsburgh.
You get TBD against Bailey Falter and Mets and Angels.
(01:12:04):
You get TBD against Sean Manyah, so a lot of
options there.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
I'm just obviously Patrick spoke on Erlander earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
Yeah, yep, oh and.
Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
That's wild. Jeff, how much are you gonna I'm I'm
a little bit shocked you didn't go with the Angels
Mets series. Just you're gonna watching so much Angels baseball
I'm getting We are getting on the group chat updates
like it's just constant. You are on top of Adele. Yeah,
(01:12:40):
I'm so happy for you. Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
They should probably still trade jo Adell to a real team,
but they're definitely not gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
You know what, give the Reds a bone, put Joe
Adele in that park. My god. All right, that takes
us tour game.
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
Okay, a real quick one today. We're we're just gonna
do true or false. I'm gonna call it some statements
and you guys both decide whether they are true or false,
and I will let you know. We'll just do it
at the same time. Just you know, I don't think
you need information. Uh so there are eleven of them.
So number one, Sammy Sosa has no middle name.
Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
False.
Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
Yeah, false, You're both correct. It is Paralta. The worst
player in baseball by warp this year is not a
Colorado Rocky. I'm not gonna tell you whether it's hit
or a picture.
Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
M hm. I wanted to say yes for a minute,
because like there are there are some some bad ones.
But boy, like Antonio, the Senzetela is just flashing in
my head.
Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
I feel like it's like it doesn't dra a like
hate Sean.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
Berke, I'm gonna go with false. It is a Rocky.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
I'm gonna go with true. It is not a Rocky.
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
Jeff takes the lead. It is Randy Basquez.
Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Sure, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
What's his d r A right now? Is this Saunder four?
Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
Yeah? Yeah, that's like.
Speaker 3 (01:14:12):
Three seven five. The cheapest beer you can buy into
baseball stadium is an Angel Stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
I'm gonna say true. I feel like they keep the
prices pretty cheap on that.
Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
Yeah, it is false. You can get three dollars rooftop
course lights in course before the game starts. Uh, all Angels,
All five Angel starters are in the top ten when
it comes to issuing intentional walks.
Speaker 2 (01:14:41):
I don't know why you would make this up so true.
Speaker 1 (01:14:43):
I don't know what what?
Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
What?
Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
Who are? Who are the five Angels starters?
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
Jose say you say KAKUI Tyler Anderson?
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
Are you counting Jack Connowitz?
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
I mean he started like twelve games, so probably.
Speaker 1 (01:14:59):
Well, I just don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Yeah, Hendricks.
Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
By the way, Ron Washington feels like he's up that.
Speaker 3 (01:15:08):
Era starters have started all but one game this year.
Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
Oh okay, the other one chased Silfa.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
No, the other one is uh right, not even.
Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
Yeah, So this is very Ron Washington. But I'm gonna try,
and I'm gonna try and catch up. I will, I
will say it's false, Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
Jeffy said, true, Okay, it is false. Jose Soriano hasn't
all four of the other ones. Soriano has not issued
an intentional walk, So it's two to two.
Speaker 1 (01:15:40):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
The career active leader in triples is Mike Trout.
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
I think it's starring Marte, so I'm gonna say false.
Speaker 1 (01:15:53):
Mm hmm. Marte is good. What's is like I'm like
thinking the parks and like Angel's Park is not a
bad one. Obviously, the Giants seems like the best one.
They don't have someone like who would necessarily be there,
my Trout mm hmm yeah, fuck it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
True, it is true Greg with the point. Uh Marte
is well a second, where is Starling Marte? Oh is
he not on the active roster on this flag? Because
Trout has fifty five? Let's see what Starling Marte has. Alright, Sorry,
(01:16:31):
we're gonna take a moment.
Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
Darling Marte has fifty five. Had a point a hell
of a pull, honestly, Like you could have just false
or true. But the fact that you pull the guy
with the exact note, Jeff should get a bonus half point.
Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
No, Yogi Berra never had any black ink in his
entire career.
Speaker 1 (01:16:57):
Oh that.
Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
Okay, I'm gonna extra clarification here, Okay, because I know
but like the m v P one is in black.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
No, No, that's not like you have to lead a category.
Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
It's saying it's in black. An com by far Off,
you know Catchers.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
I mean he played a lot, but like, yeah he
won three apps.
Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Actually he did play, but I'm just saying like catchers can,
and it's harder for them to lead in.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
It's kind of lead in some like dumb category like
hit by pitches or something. I'm gonna say false.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
Okay, Greig, Yeah, I'm gonna say false. It's true.
Speaker 3 (01:17:34):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
I don't think Patrick's brain too much and it's not working.
Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
He led some fielding stuff, but we're we're not not
not hitting next one, Ty France is younger than Buyron Buckston.
Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
Well, that's that feels true. That definitely feels true.
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Yeah, I think France is not even thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:17:57):
Yeah, true both the point France is thirty, Buckston thirty one.
Chris Coglin of the Marlins once had to go on
the I l from shaving, from what shaving?
Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
I think this is true. I vaguely remember this.
Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
I mean sure, how can I like, I know he
had a really annoying.
Speaker 2 (01:18:21):
Different dumb I Elston.
Speaker 3 (01:18:23):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:18:24):
This is the The thing is that it's so specific,
right that like I remember, he would be the answer,
because anything other than this.
Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
To say truck, yes, all right, it's false. Uh. He
once he tore him inniscus in his knee trying to
slam a shaving free pie into another player after a
walk off. No one is ever, no one in baseball
history has ever gone on the I l from a
shaving injury. Next one, Dean Kremer has a positive win
(01:18:59):
percentage for the season.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
Speaker 3 (01:19:05):
Yeah, barely higher than the story. But point one six.
All right, so you're still tired. It's five to five,
two left. The only catcher to throw off throw out
half of the base runner based Steelers against him in
twenty twenty five is salvad Or Pais.
Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
I assume there's a threshold.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
Nope, no, thir thresholds. I'm sorry, So can you say
that the only catcher who was thrown out half of
attempted based Steelers in twenty twenty five? But that implies
so over half count he had thrown half, he is
at least half, at least half.
Speaker 1 (01:19:45):
Okay, that's what I'm asking. Yeah, uh, I'm gonna say falls.
Speaker 2 (01:19:54):
I think it's I feel like Torrens is over fifty,
but he's also playing more.
Speaker 1 (01:19:58):
Also, the way he does the stupid things, sal Press
might not even be at fifty. Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
That's see what you did?
Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
Do you both say?
Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
False?
Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
Yeah, alright, it's true, he is nine for eighteen. I'm
throwing out stolen bases. I'm throwing out runners. Looking at Torrens.
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
Torrens this year has caught fourteen of thirty three, which
is very good.
Speaker 2 (01:20:25):
Yeah, very good.
Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
That's all right.
Speaker 3 (01:20:28):
Last one, this is to.
Speaker 1 (01:20:29):
Break the tie.
Speaker 3 (01:20:29):
The league leader in quality starts in Major League Baseball
this year is Mitch Keller with fourteen.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
I gotta say, true, you can play the tie. We're
both keller Fellers. I'm not gonna take that away from you.
Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
Well, that's I didn't want to. Yeah, I Well, then
we're just gonna end in a tie.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
Well, then betray your keller Feller.
Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
No, I can't. It's true.
Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
It's false. Say congratulations both of you.
Speaker 1 (01:21:04):
Yet I think Jeff wins on the strength of Starling Marte.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
What you got the same correct answer?
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
No, no, but the way that.
Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
But I also said false, which is technically it is
true that he leads the league in trouble leads because
of these active players and tule. I know, I know
why you gave me the point, and that's fair. I
just don't think I should get an extra No, I
don't think I didn't actually get the question.
Speaker 1 (01:21:27):
I think I think, and it deserves some bonus, but
that's fine. Thank you Patrick for that game. Thank you
to our listeners for tuning in to another.
Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
By the way, I should get six points for fooling you,
six out of eleven. Fine, so I think I won.
Speaker 1 (01:21:42):
