Speaker 1 (00:29):
Welcome to episode four eighty eight of five and five.
It is Wednesday, September three. I am your host, Great Coldson,
joined as usual by Patrick Dubuk and Jeffrey pattern Nostro.
Thank you again to Andy Matthews for the intro song.
If you like it, you can follow him at Andy
Matthews music dot Besky dot social. It's banter time. We

(00:51):
have a at a couple extra days because of the
long weekend, and I think we're just gonna do the
one this week. I don't, I don't know, you know,
we're resetting the rotation. I suppose there's a there's a
Monday off day. We're using it to reseting you one
one pod this week. We'll be back with two on
a normal, non shortened week. So what's the banter situation? Guys?

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Well, my children are both in school right now, so
we've succeeded. We've made it. Congratulations, mission accomplished.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
And they're never going to come back, which is very
What's that they come back every day you have to
go pick them up even worse? Ye, did you see
the story? I didn't. I'm gonna butcher this because I
glanced at it. But there's like a place in I
want to say Tennessee that has like people just getting

(01:41):
in the line at noon and they order they order
food and and like I know we've already done pick up,
but like that was that was another level for me.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
I just like, I know, look, I know your life
revolves around your kids basically.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yet also walk home. Figure it out.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I had to walk home, not from elementary school like
I ride my bike every morning.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Elementary school.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah, we weren't close up elementary school.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I had to take the bus. And I live so
far away from my school that I had to take
the bus.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
And then I got a bus. Yeah yeah, I was
like the third the last drop off in elementary school too,
so I was getting home it like three forty five.
My parents were living a lot of that's.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
That's when my son's elementary school ends.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Now we got out of it like a little before three.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
They do, they do a two tier system for the bus,
so like some school start thirty minutes earlier or something.
I don't know exactly. My other my other bit of banter,
unless you guys have something you want to talk about,
was I'm just gonna steal. I don't know if you
saw Alex Kirshner. Yeah, yeah, yeah, his post today. So

(02:51):
I'll just say it so I know you've seen it,
but I'll just say for the listeners in case they hadn't,
he said, here's the pro sports what if that not?
Enough people are contemplating? Could you you and your three
best homies get an average major league based runner out
in the rundown? I think my mates and I could
tag out Randall Greichuk seven times out of ten. I'm
curious what I mean. I think, where are the cross

(03:14):
in this situation?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I think you're both underestimating how fast the average major
league based runner is.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I think is a great name to pull for this
because he is both old and athletics.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
He's also like, like, these are all like large humans.
You have to create throwing lines is the other part.
I guess that there are questions like how is the
base like trying harder than he normally would during a rundown?
And how much practice time do you get?

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah, I think questions.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
I think your baseball player would look at you and go, yeah,
I think I've got a shot here and give it
a little more effort than me.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
I think you have to make it some sort of
game show. Right, you get there's like a ten thousand
dollars prize pool, and every time you get him out,
it was out of ten, right, you get one thousand.
Every kind the player makes it, he gets one thousand,
like a charity of his choice.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Right, Yeah, I mean I said, I think what we
need is is pros versus Jo's yeah, come back and
answer these questions. But my thing here, and he said
it was a fair point, was I think if we're
talking four people, you're matsing att of two or three
times because they're going to get in the middle and
you're not going to get to your spot to keep

(04:25):
one of the big things, like, yeah, it's it's gonna
require athleticism if there's only four of you, and to
know where you need to be, because.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
That's I think where the practice comes in, right, like.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, the first five.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, but even even with some practice, man, like I
there are reads in this situation. Sometimes you throw it
in back up, Sometimes you throw it and you're you're
now on the other end. And with four people it's
too much switching. I think they're going to beat you
consistently on this. I think if you're getting like six
people seven something like that, like potentially everyone but the

(04:57):
pitcher and catcher in the rundown or something like that.
Maybe you have a better chance. I don't know, don't
Did you see Sam? Sam Miller chimed in on this.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
I did not see Sam.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
He said, I don't know about my friends, but if
it's four of me, I'm dagging them out ninety two
times out of one hundred. Incredible incredible confidence from Sam. Yeah,
I did not have that.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I think I could get up to five or six
if I were equipped with some bolas, you know, the
russ if I were allowed to literally just.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Wrap off their legs.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yes, okay, I would miss, you know, probably for the
first five times, and then maybe I would get better
at amy. But I think if I got those, I've
got a shot.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Okay, So Jeff, You're where did you land on this?
I'm just curious. Again.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
I think they quite think but I think you just.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Got to throw out a number forty seven guys.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
I think I think one to two times, like the
player is going to not turn fast enough, or underestimate
the speed of one of your runners, or just get
caught out, or like try to dodge a tag and
go to the baseline or something, and yeah, yeah, I think.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I think.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
I think like five to six times out of the
ten you are going to plant a baseball directly in
his back trying to throw it to someone.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Yeah, I think that. I absolutely think the lanes are
a big part of.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
It, catching it like while catching it while moving right.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah, people are not as coordinated as they like to think.
The other the reason I wanted to bring this up
was because I've seen so the vast majority of the
reactions I saw were like, you don't understand the athleticism
of professionals, And I think that's fair.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I don't think that.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Also, then you have then you have Sam being like
ninety two out of one hundred times four of them.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I guess I think maybe you don't understand how unathletic
you are a thirty five year old baseball Twitter person.
You know, it's probably part of it.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Well, sure, right, it's both of those things. But I
guess I'm just saying, like, it's it was interesting seeing
them mix of taps, right, and yeah, I don't know.
All right, let's get it.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I think we practice, you could probably get it up
to about fifty to fifty.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Okay, Yeah, I think that's right. Well, and I also
think you need six people.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
I'm sure. I mean, I don't think run downs last
as long as you think they do, but yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
They well they don't. But I think I think a
professional athlete can make it last in this situation. I
also said this, I think we need like some sort
of I said, pros versus Joe's. But like the should
isn't this what TikTok is for. Shouldn't someone some sort
of weird sports influencer?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
This is more interesting than the celebrity softball game. You
need a celebrity rundown.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, well, but I'm just saying, shouldn't like some guy
I have never heard of that has forty five million
followers be.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Out probably in the celebrity softball game already?

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Who's this? That's right, who's in the celebrity softball game?
Be out there doing like we're answering this question today.
We're doing dumb sports science here. It is. There's no
actual science.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Is why we need to bring back Midbusters?

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Right right?

Speaker 2 (08:00):
It might already be back.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
I don't know, Yeah, it might be on like a
third iteration, who knows. Let's go to our first topic,
Ranger danger the Rangers are putting other teams in danger?

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Are they? I saw this in the dock this morning
because Patrick did the agenda, and I was just like,
are we like really doing a Ranger segment?

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Well, look, we've done.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Like five of these in the last three months when
they've gotten to this level.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Look, man, I don't know if you know, but the
playoffs have been like mostly settled.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
So like we've got the Mariners or the Mariners are
now down to seven over like this.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Game? Is that what I saw?

Speaker 2 (08:35):
If they're a game and a half three and only
because it up like the Mariners, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
They did cough it up now christ Matt Pitch well though, yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
We'll get to that.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, we can talk about it. Like, yes, this is
maybe the least inspiring UH roster, like the active roster
of the Rangers right now. UH is certainly a group
of players.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
I mean, it's mostly the same guys that won the World.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Series, well except the six that are injured. Well yeah,
and that's the thing is that like half the roster
is out and and now all of a sudden, yeah,
without semiing, without secret with a Evan Carter, without Anthony
Ivaldi and Molly is still out. I think he's close
to coming back, but he.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Gave up five runs in an inning in his start yesterday.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
So close ish to coming back?

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yeah? So well yeah, I mean some of the names
are in the dock, I think so so yeah they are.
I was going to to say, like for Jeff being,
like these are guys that won the World Series? Like
can you name some of these guys?

Speaker 2 (09:42):
I don't even think if you were told me to
close the doc, I would not be able to name
some of these players that I wrote down in this dock.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Do you do you remember who their first basement is?
He's been there for Oh it's too.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Funny for me not to I still Berger? Is he hurt?

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Jacks Berger? Is he has put first? He's the short
side of the plat is the short side.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Of the platoon with with rowdy Tallans. I mean they've
got rowdy Tallen's. They got Dylan Moore.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Now like I did say that they picked up Dylan Moore.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yeah, yeah, it's uh it is. But Michael Hillman, I
who is Michael Hellman?

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Bring out the house, bring out the best scouting report.
Maybe shouldn't they be Michael best Foods? Because he's west
of the Mississippi River.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yes, he should. Actually that's a great point. No, I
mean this is interesting, Like, how are they getting it
done at this point?

Speaker 3 (10:35):
I mean they're they're barely over.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
That that is getting it done.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
They can pitch a little bit, obviously they yeah, a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
You know why whyatt Langford is up to a one
twenty five ops plus. Yeah, that's that's a ten to
eleven point improvement over last year. Obviously the season is
not over, but like this is a very successful second season,
and I don't think anyone cares.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Yeah, yeah, like it's an it's a yeah, it's like
the most anonymous seven ninety oh ps season. He's possible.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
How much our war do you think he has?

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Right, he's I think he's considered a very good defender
in a corner. So it'd be like four wins or
something four.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Point eight right now. Yeah, like this is.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
This is a fast in the corner.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Yeah, we consider have you heard a word?

Speaker 3 (11:32):
No? If the Rangers are have been around to five
hundred for the last two months, I'm just sure they
play in the place where Patrick is going to send
his father's lawnmower to get recycled, Like nobody pays attention
to this.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Dam Yeah, I had no idea that Patrick Cortman threw
eight shutout ningx against the Angels last week.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
He's the half of the good well, the Angels too.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
It is the Angels too.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
But you know, Merril Kelly has been good since he's
been exactly basically exactly as good as he was before.
Fewer strikeouts, but but generally, you know, the results based us,
he's been just about as good. Yeah. I don't know
what to do with this team. I mean, l he's
done right, like it's he's not coming back.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
He's coming back this year.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yeah, And the truth is that like literally everyone is
hitting right now. If you go over the last like
week and a half during this run, like basically seven
is that all it takes that said, it matter, everyone hits,
It's fine. Yeah, as long as as long as Cody Freeman.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
I didn't even know they were making Freeman's in Cody,
as long as Cody Freeman's hitting, like he's got one
sixty w orc plus like everyone just hit on the
same week, and it's funny.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
It won't keep up.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
But then the thing about this is that neither no
one just shouldn't this shouldn't be a playoff spot. Yes,
I mean that's the problem.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I'm glad the National League has decided to just nope
out on having a playoff run this year, but at
least basically, you either have a situation like the National
League where there is no interest whatsoever because the exact
correct number of playoff teams exist and they are all
just going to play and get in the playoffs, or
you have this where you have drama because no one

(13:26):
deserves to be in the playoffs. I mean, guess if
there were five spots, you'd have the Podras and that's
kind of battling it out for that last spot. And
that would be kind of interesting, right in the sense
that the Pods are like two and a half up now.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
They're only one?

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Was it one? Now?

Speaker 1 (13:40):
That would be extremely interesting. Those are two actually good
teams playoff spot.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah, they're about as close as the Mariners and the
Rangers are, right.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yeah, except that the Mariners and Rangers instead of so yeah, obviously,
this it's just every playoff race is a reminder of
what the better playoff race should be than this one, right,
And that's where we stand at this point. Uh, And
it's what will stand forever because we're never going back.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
I mean, look, if they had one more spot, then
the races would be very interesting right now because you
have like a four way tie and the and L
and you'd have the Rangers and Royals. Well you'll have
that looking it out. Yeah probably, So.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah, that means no, the Rangers, like we have we
have to talk about the Rangers because.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
They have won nine eleven. But this is this is
not a team. None of these teams feel like they.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
They're going to be remembered by November fourth, right, like
three rounds of the playoffs, you will have forgotten that
the Rangers made it. If they make it, sure they'll
get bounced in two games. In the West.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
It's like forgetting that the Marlins made it right twenty
one or whatever.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Well, they were almost so bad it almost like.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
I remember what year it was at this point. It
was twenty twenty two, it's twenty No, well they made
it twenty yeah, then they made it again.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
See I didn't forget that one.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Yeah yeah, yeah, But we're just also we're just gonna
have to like this is.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
We have a month of shows and there's no playoff races.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
So yeah, yeah, well, and I just like this is
this is such an old man's take, but like the
watering down of the playoffs that we're that we're talking
about here, Like every one of these teams is gonna
be like has made the playoffs every you know, however often,
and everyone's gonna be like did they why? Like what happened?
It's just I don't know, it's just it's all bullshit.

(15:33):
It tries. Meanwhile, I want to we mentioned the Mariners
are losing games. They're five of their last six losses
are by one run. Some of the this isn't all
just like the bullpen blowing out, Like they scored a
run late. They were in the ninth yesterday to lose
by one, they were losing by two. There was a

(15:54):
blowout game against the Race. I gotta say though, like
if the Rangers obviously don't deserve to be in the playoffs,
but the Mariner is getting like blown out while facing
Shane Boss in the minor league park and swearing two runs.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
I don't know, there's a reason that we put the
aos on front watch Craig.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah, well yeah, I just it's uh, I don't know's
also not I don't know.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Houston's also Ye's got some problems.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Problems, all right? Is that do we want any more
un Rangers?

Speaker 3 (16:34):
And what else is there to say?

Speaker 1 (16:35):
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
I don't want to be like, I know we had
a listener like reach out at the beginning of the
season and be like, you're not talking about the Rangers enough.
I think we've rectified that.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I think that if if Seeger and Semeon and Carter
and Yovaldi were still here, this would lead legitimately an
interesting late season run by a team that's basically been
underperforming its peripherals all year. Right, they they have the
far superior run differential. They're they're the more talented team
if everybody's playing right, but they're.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Never I mean, you can't even like they're never helped.
Corey Seeker is not going to be healthy and like,
all right, but no that Marcus Semen is going to
be playing right.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Right, But it's the sort of team where on September,
on September fifteenth, and you're like, oh, they happen to
be all healthy and they can make a six week
this team is not going to be able to make
that six week run. They're dead and they're just still walking.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Yeah, all right, let's go to our second segment, East
Coast bias. We're talking about the Al East at least
to start. It is more interesting. The Blue Jays, Red Sox,
and Yankees are all grouped together less than three games.
Blue Jay's still holding on to first place, Red Sox

(17:50):
and Yankees two and a half back. Red Sox seven
and three in their last ten, Yankees eight and two.
I don't know, how how do you guys feel the
yankees bullpen as Jeff has I think we got like
three messages over the last five days, just like Jay's
pen is bad again.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Yeah, well, the Yankees are eight and one in their
last nine, and only one of those games that they
won by fewer than four runs.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
They've also like the Gnats and the White.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Sure, sure, but they're like they're playing the Whites and
Nests Sox. They're just crushing everyone. Like they were playing
well enough to have been being good teams too. Like
Ben Rice is back to being good. It's nice that
we we can be back to where things make sense.
Trent Grisham's just not like Trent Grisham, guys, it's too late.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
He did well, He did, but he did fade, and
then now he's putting it back.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
He's like another But at this point, even if he
does fade, it's gonna be too late. This is no.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Yeah, it's a phenomenal year. Absolutely, I'm not. I wasn't
trying to discount that. I was just saying there was
like a dip, but then he's come back and yeah,
it's a good year. I don't know, I don't know.
Do you do? You like? Buy it?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
And then some team is probably going to in the
center field market and quality of center fielders across baseball probably.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
What we probably should have done this. We probably should
have had a segment on the guys. It's going to
be hilarious to watch it for your ancient contracts.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Oh, I mean we have time for that.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Well, I mean I've written them well down.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
But I was not yesterday today, but in the course
that we don't have races to talk about, so it's true.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
I was just like, as I was doing research for
the Trevor Rodgers piece, and Trevor Rodgers will not be
involved because he is under contract for one more year
with Gromorials. But but looking through that, and I was like,
who are the other guys like this, you know, you're
Shaun Newcombs and h Brad Keller is going to get
a hilarious contract this offseason.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
I mean, Boba Schett is like having the Bobaschet season now.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
But that's that's not funny.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
That's just yeah, it's just kind of it's not funny
per se. But it's also you don't realize how young
he is. And like if you look at his track
record outside of his injury plague, like something's gonna have
him and you're going to be like, Boba Schett really yeah,
you mean.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Like that's a good question. And do you think he's
gonna get two hundred million dollars?

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Like I don't know if he's going to. But the
free agent position player mark.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Is only I remember remind you how much did Willie
Donalds k?

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Yeah, it's close, Isa, somebody gonna sign. Like I made this,
I made this joke on Blue Sky, but like this
feels low key like the Rockies just like really overpaid,
but for some reason, like nobody knows.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Exactly, because they have Ezekiel Tovar.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
On a long second or first base.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Let's go yeap.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Yeah yeah, But Brad Keller is gonna get like thirty
million bucks.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
He is not.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
He's not.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
And he's been like one of the best relievers in
baseball this year and like he was free.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Yeah, just it's hilarious. He gave him a somebody will
always play?

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Is that happened pretty much? I don't know. He's not
getting the Robert like he's not getting Robbers Robertevens. I don't.
I don't think so. I think teams have wised up
unless he signs with the Angels.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Maybe if he signs, it's true an exposure.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
So so how do you see this shaking out? We've
I mean just two and a half games.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
They've seen, They've like, man, I know it's because they're
playing the Reds right now, so I have to pay
a greater level of attention to it, I suppose.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
But this team, wait, do you why have I the
Reds and some of the.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Best Because that's like the closest to the wild card.
I have to at least like keep one eye on it.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
That's that obligation.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
It's fade out. But they're just maddening to maddening to.
I know the five runs was were unearned because uh
Isaiah kind of flea who they picked up made it, uh.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Error, endeared himself.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Yeah, but they just can't like hold a lot.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Why No, why did they get I don't know why
did they add Isaiah kinder filefa. Was it like they
needed to give Miles Straw an infield friend, like what, well,
they didn't.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Give her any clement a day off every once in
a while.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
No, they don't. That's it results in five run innings. Yea,
they absolutely should not. Also, by the way, I believe
maybe he was just shifted really far. But I believe
the Pirates played Jared Triolo at shortstop.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Did they?

Speaker 3 (22:30):
I thought you were going to stay first base, which
he also.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Maybe I'm wrong, Yeah, Candavania at third, Triolo at shortstop.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Yeah, I guess them up as the outfielder, I don't remember.
He's just played everywhere now, so yeah, well it's got
to get that utility gold Glove again this year. You
gotta get him.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Was it utility or did he get third base?

Speaker 3 (22:53):
I don't even remember.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Yeah, I don't remember either. Uh, pretty hard lately.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Yeah, but you're not playing him for as bad who's
been slumping, So I guess you're not playing a.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Yeah, right, yeah, I don't know, but even a slumping
Ernie Clement is like a regulars as a as a
a kinder left.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Yeah, no, it's true.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
George Springer got very good, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Very good. Like oh ps, he has just not stopped.
That's absolutely nuts to have that kind of comeback season
at what is he thirty six something like that, thirty
five thirty six? I mean this, this is yeah, Varshow
continues to slug the hell out of the ball. I
don't know, but there's obviously something I feel like most

(23:43):
people aren't quite buying. No, there are no good teams
in the AL, which is part of it. But do
you do you buy Toronto more than the Yankees or
Red Sox. I mean, we're not talking about the Red
Sox a ton. They called up Peyton.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Totley, they did. He looked very good.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
He looked very good. They're moving on from Walker Bueller.
I mean sometimes just getting these guys getting not zeros
or you know, is such a big deal. Obviously, we
talked about that deadline. The Red Sox are doing it internally.
They have moved Dustin made of the bullpen. I continue
not to understand that trade. Yeah, yeah, I mean I

(24:22):
feel like we're not landing. We're landing on here are
the problems with these teams, but someone's got to win well.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
I think that what Toronto's. One of Toronto's biggest strengths
is their rotation depth, and that's not going to be
as useful in the postseason. Right it's you know, having six.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Do you think they can get there? I mean, do
you think their first place when they get there?

Speaker 3 (24:41):
You know, the Barrios and Bassett haven't been great recently.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yeah, do they probably get their ant hound? I mean
two and a half games.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
With a lot of games it is. I think that
they made them sure they still play each other. I
guess they's only twenty games last night, they don't.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
But yeah, oh guarantee. Yeah. But like I mean the Yankees,
that rotation, I think I have much more faith in that.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
Verch I guess, but I think they're also.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
Yeah, like on relatively bad stretches of late Like I.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Think I put you know, I put Boston third. I
think I believe in Toronto's, Like, Toronto's got this weird offense,
but they it's the quantity works there because it feels
like somebody's going to be hitting in any given week, right,
you might get the Dolphin Varshows six. It's you might
get David Schneider.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Like, whether you buy it or not, it is it
again with Springer and Bashett, and they've gotten a great
season from lad coming off the contract Davis Schneider.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Yeah, Patrick, David Schneider's like, he's only good if he
only gets two undred plate appearances this season. If you
give me more than that, not even Plato matters. Just
whether he's heard or that. Barger's down to more of
a league average. Ops, he's been in a in a slump,
but like he can go off, right, I mean that's
kind of your point, right, is that like on any week,
like you could get.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Somebody's best week kind of Yeah. With the Yankees, it's
just it's tough. Jazz is having a tremendous season, and
I don't feel like that's getting any attention. Cody Bellinger.
They got Cody Bellinger for free and they paid his contract.
But this is a four win season by reference. War Ah,

(26:42):
this is just such a weird. There are just so
many more zeros in this lineup to your point, Patrick,
But like it has to be obviously Judge or Rice
or Grisham or Chisholm. And that's not like you're you're
four or five deep, but the other.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Yeah, there's at this point you're right, Domingas is not.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
I mean the average bat with a bad glove right way.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Ryan McMahon became d J. L. Mayhew's so fast, faster
than I expected.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
They do.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
All three teams play each other one more time each series.
As far as the strength of schedule goes, we always
love to run down the remaining strikes. Yes, the Yankees
have a much easier schedule remaining than either Boston Toronto
than who are about the same. Toronto plays all above
five hundred teams except three games that against the Orioles,

(27:38):
who are playing like a five hundred team, so pretty
rough schedule for them.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
They're doing humans work against the Padres from the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Meanwhile, the Red Sox gets six against the A's who
are also playing better of late, so that's their weak team.
But as far as the other continuencies of American League,
Seattle has the easiest schedule by far, much more, much
easier than Houston, which has a pretty average schedule.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
It's nothing to be doing. She had all the ton
of good right.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Now, Houston and Texas have six against each other, and
Houston has three against the Marriage.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
That's that's a big advantage for Seattle.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Meanwhile, the Reds still have one of the hardest schedules
left in the Mets though, like six hardest, so that
that kind of neutralizes itself. San Diego and La have
the easiest ones because they get to play the Rockies.
The Pandre still have seven games against the Rockies in
their last twenty three games.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
One other note on Boston is that Roman Anthony seems
very likely to go on the IL.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
With an open I did not see that.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Yeah, he's got an oblique strain, and I think they're
trying to avoid it, but it seems like it's it's
going to be bad. I mean, every time someone tries
to go through that and they just heard it more.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Yeah, it is where you're coming back soon or is
he still out?

Speaker 2 (28:48):
I think they were hoping he would stay and tell
William came back. I think's not quite ready.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Yeah, he's got a strained calf going back to August seventeenth,
so probably ye, but not quite yet. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
all right, yeah, I think I don't know the schedule
thing is. I was all prepared to say I was,
I was leaning Toronto, but having the harder schedule, I

(29:14):
don't know. I think i'd stay in Toronto. I really
don't know what the other two. It's a cop out
to say it's a toss up given their tide, but
it's just hard for me to have any confidence in
the Yankees. But they've got a better schedule set up,
and I don't know.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
I think my favorite quirk in the schedule is that
the Giants, with twenty three games left, only play four
more teams. And it doesn't matter, but they played the
Dodgers seven times, the Cardinals six times, the Diamondbacks six times,
in the Rockies four times. That's it. Who scheduled weird?

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Yeah, again, they need to go back to the two
people doing. It's just how it needs to be. Our
note here says we no longer need to have n
all segments the rest of the month. We've touched on
the Reds already. They're five back. I mean, yeah, the
Giants are also five back. To just put it in perspective.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
The Giants have not moved up. It is that the
Reds have fallen apart well, the Giants, I didn't know that.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
But well, they are very far under five hundred, so
they have to start tilting back towards five hundred.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
They are one game over and uh, five games out.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Yeah, I mean, I guess your only other consideration here
is the buye right.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Right, it's jockeying for position. In the American League.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
The Tigers are half a game basically, Blue Jayson and
the Tigers are the two, and the Yankees are two
back of the Tigers for the third best record or
for the second mass record, which wouldn't matter. They have
to catch up to Toronto. So really, the American League
doesn't you know, it doesn't really matter. It's going to
be an ALIAS team.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
In Detroit, right And in the National League it's it's
Milwaukee and is going to have one, and then it's
the Phillies are two games up on the day.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
It's the Phillies are the Dodgers, right, well.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah, Phillies and the Dodgers, or I suppose if the
Padres get hot. I mean, there are only.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Two a lot even the games like they play seven
against the Rockies and three against the White Sox. The Padres. Yeah, yeah,
there you go. It's real. It's all downhill.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, the Cubs are five back, which
again not techniquely of the Brewers, which is again technically
not you know, out of it or anything like that.
But there's not much time, all right, Why don't we
go to our third segment? My boy, we don't see
each other much. This is where this isn't our guys segment.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
There's been a fair mid of news on our guys
this week.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
So yeah, you want me to still you know.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
How they're your guys, you know, you know.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Uh nebil Chrismott. Yes, I do need to note this
that that on one day on a site, uh Tuesday yesterday,
we had I don't know five Dodgers' names in the
ten pack and then also in the box score banner
Connor uh previewed in the bill Chrisma versus tbdu. I

(32:14):
did not ask for any of that. I suppose it's
just a perk of being in charge. But uh yeah,
and the bill delivered, honestly, did I didn't see did
they let him go out for the seventh?

Speaker 3 (32:26):
They he didn't finish it though, so he didn't get
the win. They ended up going ahead in the seventh.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
But okay, all right, he you know, he was through
six innings on what's seventy ish.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
Pitches like he doesn't. He hadn't give him like seven
hits in a walk, so they're not he.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
Went he went under five innings his first start. Well,
I'm sure built out. He wasn't built up. And now
he's just thrown six plus every time. I think he
went five plus in his second start and six six
or more and in the last Tuesday sub to e R.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Yeah, I think it's over. I think it ticked back
over to.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Just over to okay, but you know right around there,
this is tremendous. He someone should sign him. Yeah, is
the perfect You can get an inning and out of him, Yep,
you can get six or right exactly, he's a perfect
thirteenth guy. I'm sorry, So all good news on the
nebil Chrisma front. Patrick, do you time to prepare for

(33:21):
your guys.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Here, I've done it. I've already done it. Thank you.
Martine Maldona re signed with the Padres. I think that
the all right. First of all, he when they released
him after they traded for Freddy for me, and now
they're just basically holding on to him in case there's
an injury because they cannot, like Luis Campasano is like

(33:47):
he may actually have also had a stroke and no
one's seen him in five days, Like we've reached that point.
What I love about the Maldona signing is that they
have not decided whether they're going to They're gonna They're
going to send him to the complex, despite the fact
that their Triple A team, you know, El Paso is
still playing, and they may not actually just send him

(34:07):
to Triple A. They may just leave him in the
compound just in case, because why would he need to
warm up?

Speaker 1 (34:13):
I mean what is right?

Speaker 2 (34:14):
And the funny thing is that Maldonado has not played
in Triple A since twenty twelve, not even not like
a rehab. It's been thirteen years since he has seen
a bus.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
So speaking of speaking of you know, not nobody's seen
Louis Campusana. Do you know what his line is in
Triple A this year? Uh?

Speaker 2 (34:32):
No, No, I don't.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Three point thirty four thirty seven, six oh nine. It
is it is it isla. But still yeah, yeah, that
is like average, right, I'm not saying it wasn't It
wasn't bad.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
It's not bad.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Yeah, he might need a change of scenery. I think
I am not trying to suggest Louis Campusano is good
in the year twenty twenty five. I am merely saying
like I absolutely went to his page thinking, oh he's
he's got an eight hundred ops and El Paso and
it's that's bad news.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Well, you know, speaking of guys like this, you know,
I couldn't help. But notice that our old friend, Nobody's
friend or Hail Farro is still getting it's still getting released.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
He's with the Nationals. He started today and got a double.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
I'm in the in the Major Major. Oh hello, they don't.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Have the catchers off your Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Yeah, yeah. So, like you know, if he can stick
around a least comes to the compass on looking at
one more job, one more, one more stint.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
He hit that dole today harder than Bred and I
hit a ball on his entire career.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Yeah, someone can fix them.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
No, no, but you know, the Nationals can't fix anyone
else either, so they may as well have them run.
Uh also also finding work, Jose Reina is looking for
his fifteen Uh so it was it was just the
record's five teams in the season.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
It's a matter of if he's I thought he got
signed already.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
He's been signed. He's with the Angels.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
Yeah, good chance.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Now there was a question he might actually get a start.
But like the Angel's rotation is in a weird place
after being incredibly.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
Well and has heard Righty Anderson's out for the year.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
He's noble. They have Victor Maderos was started Williams he
has shoulder inflammation. He's out. So right now they've got
four guys and one of them is Mitch Ferris uh
not spelled as if he's.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Made of iron.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
But like Riina might get a start, he might just
get another start. And if that's the case. He did
not start for the Dodgers, sadly, he did not start
for the Mets. They pitched for both of them. He
didn't start for He started for the Blue Jays and Twins.
I want to know who is the who's the player
that started games for the most teams because we you know,
we obviously have Oliver Drake for most teams. But like

(36:59):
if he had gotten the start, he goes how many
teams was Oliver Dracon? He was on five teams, five teams,
so uraneus post he's bounded.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Tie, right, has Garrett Hampson tied it this year.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
I feel like Tommy Malone could easily be the guy
for most most he sticks around, starts for it.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Yeah, he's happy. Thomas Malone has always been happy to
pitch a triple. I yeah, he's not the kind of
guy who that's too. It's rude to refuse an assignment.
You should.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
But he gets traded, so I like he he gets
like dfa'd and picked up. I don't know, you're right,
he's he's topped out of two teams in the season.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah, he just it's because he'll just he'll hang around.
He knows he'll be back. He's confident in himself that way.
Hampson's played for four teams this year.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Okay, so.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
Yeah, uh so those are my guys. Theore R Jeffrey,
You've you've got more of a positive I do.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
We've got some. We've got some dingers. Dinger Miles Soon
were talked about Adella's thirtieth but he has thirty second
last night and it went four hundred and fifty feet.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
Is that good?

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Yeah? Just an absolute nuke. We love to see it.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
And Alex call hit one four fifty two in court.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
Sure, well, of course, Yeah, Junior camen Aro got his.
He's now a forty one hundred season. I don't think
it's I think it's on base percentage's still under three hundred.
So you're getting like the full Junior Caminaro experience.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
This here.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
I know it's a minor league park, but it's not playing.
It's hit or friendly, but it's not playing like insanely.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
So I saw Mike Petriello. I believe note that his
defense has gotten significantly better over there.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
Yeah, like I think as well. I figured he'd settle
into third base that at some.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
Point I would like to know what the highest win
like war season is for a three hundred or lower OBP.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Interesting because I well, I know there's I was.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Is at three oh four, yeah, and is approaching in
the four win season.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Like one of those Rugio door seasons has to.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
Yeah, well I was gonna so you. Also, I think
you probably have to exclude catchers, right.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Because like if like Patrick Bailey or something, right.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
The framing, Yeah, the framing stuff probably blows it out,
but like.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
A catcher, Yeah, I can tell you that in nineteen
seventy two because I was looking at us up for
some other reason. Burn Camp in eiras six time All Star.
One of the years in which he did make the
All Star team. Uh, he led the league and played appearances.
He led the league in stolen bases, He led the
league in sacrifices. He also slashed two forty two seventy
eight three or wait, hold on second, Yeah, two forty

(39:32):
two seventy eight three twenty five, two seventy eight opp.
Five point four war.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Yeah, okay, well yeah, yeah, that's uh, that's good. That's
pretty good.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Yeah, yep, finished sixteenth in the MVP race with a
two seventy eight opp. So you can do it.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Oh no, yeah, I wasn't saying it can't be done.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
But smmons maybe in there too.

Speaker 1 (39:53):
Hoops.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Yeah, I think he was over. He usually hit for
a high enough average. I think he might have omber
three hundred most those years.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
But yes, he did, he did.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
He did finish five point eight win season at two
ninety six in his second season.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Second season, fourteenth in the MVP voting Gold Glove.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Yeah, so maybe not that not that special, but it's
I still feel like relatively notable also, especially because well
he's gotten a lot better.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
Not an elite glove at third base.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Right, I would say that Simmons had forty walks that season,
and probably more than forty highlight reels.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
Right, yeah, right, uh okay, So that's it. That's our guys. Guys,
we're gonna take a.

Speaker 5 (40:36):
Break and we'll be back with the rest of the show.

(40:59):
Welcome back to episode four eighty eight.

Speaker 1 (41:01):
Five dives. We're going around the horn. In segment four,
we're gonna start with anger issues. Do you want to
start in in Houston or in course?

Speaker 3 (41:12):
I think there's more like the course one is just
kind of let's get let's get rid of that first.
Like Raphael Devers pimped a home run a little bit
or watched the home run, I wouldn't even say he
pimped it.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
Yeah, no, yeah, yeah, I think he started pimping it
after he was told not to pimp it.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
Yeah, fair enough. Yeah, and then there was a little
bit of a kerfluffle. He like never Actually, the interesting
thing I guess to me is he never actually rounded
the bases, yes, and that was allowed to continue rounding
the bases. I don't know what the rule is on that.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
You can go out of the base path as long
as no one's trying to tag you. So theoretically a
home run, you know, a home run trot can go anywhere.
It could be family circus dash line.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Well they've they you can no longer circle the bases backwards, right,
but they did it once in the sixties and then
banned afterwards.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
Like, yeah, I could run, You could run to third base,
but as long as you don't actually touch the third
base and then run straight across the island. Yeah, don't
get killed by everybody in the way. Yeah, that's technically.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
I guess you can't get any help. And no one
helped him around the bases.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
So I I also I watched I watched the what
kicked this off? And so as you say, like he
admires it, he admires everything that's not that's not really different.
Maybe maybe there was a little extra mustybe like.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
I get, like, you know, the Rocky has got blown
out on Monday.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
Its just I guess Kyle Freeland said something. Sure, right,
I don't know what he said, but it it pissed
Raphael Devers off and he starts yelling back, and that's
what happened. But I don't know.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
I like that he didn't gets didn't get ejected, but
like for their giants.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
Did not a job, but he did get he did too.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
I think just the first inning we should also, right.

Speaker 1 (42:59):
I mean, Freeland must have said something, right, so like,
I guess it's also possible he said something both red
assy but also anondyne and Devers flipped up out like that.
That is absolutely on the table.

Speaker 3 (43:16):
But it would think it really seems like it would
be happy that there was a communication going on between
like open lines of communication on on baseball matters, right, yeah,
I get it.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
Just it seems like it seems to me that that
Okham's razor here is Freeland was was sour, yeah, and
mouthed off and that kicked things off, right, like I don't.

Speaker 3 (43:42):
Run, dude, or something like that, right.

Speaker 6 (43:44):
Yeah, yeah, And like it seems very feasible to me
that Devers also overreacted, but that like the initial overreaction
here is on Freeland, because like, who gives a shit
if Rafael Devers ad Myers' home run, right, like that
really shouldn't.

Speaker 2 (44:01):
The ball So the ball landed about ten rows back
in right field, It wasn't. It was a nice home run,
but it wasn't like it was.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
Yeah, I don't like. I think it was washing it
like to see fair like I don't know, Yeah, the.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
Other one just likes to look the other funny. By product,
because Matt Chapman was ejected, he did have a playing third,
which is great.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
I made to play, right, I think there was a
play he looked.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
Yeah. What I'm wondering is like, this isn't factoring into
the calculation for one percentage, But if you factor in
the loss of w p A based on uh the ejections,
is this the first home run that reduced a team's
chance to win a game?

Speaker 3 (44:42):
I guess the problem is still against the Rockies, right.

Speaker 7 (44:45):
Yeah, it's like, yeah, reduced relative to prior It wasn't
two run home runs, so the a fair amount, especially
for a first inning.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
But but yeah, like it's kind of curious.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
I think I did research a long, long, long time
ago and discovered that most ejections have very impact on
the game because most of them take place in the
middle of the game and you only have two plate
appearances left. Your hit or you know, is replaced by
a guy who's probably in you know, it's a bless
slightly below average player. It really doesn't impact things as
much as you think they're going to when in the
time first inning though, losing to losing the left half

(45:24):
of your infield. Yes, yeh with with a three man bench, right,
so well it's September, so they got four man bench. Yeah,
good timing.

Speaker 7 (45:34):
The good good timing on them elsewhere.

Speaker 1 (45:37):
The more I guess serious, I don't know, I not
laugh about this. Yeah, from ber Valdez through Uh, well,
he and his catcher I'm blaking on a Salasar Sar
Salas are right, got crossed. Well, one of them got somebody.

Speaker 3 (45:59):
There was a cross up.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
There was a cross up. How do I uh this headline?

Speaker 3 (46:03):
Cross up happened?

Speaker 1 (46:06):
These two were involved in a cross up.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
The picture and cross up.

Speaker 1 (46:10):
Yeah, catcher cross from gave out two home.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
Runs Gibb a Grand Slam one thing also a home.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
Run within three It's like two homers within three batters,
one of which was a Grand Slam and also involved
Salos are like making a pushback.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
Like I think it's like step off off mid mid motion.
It's too late, pale.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
And and that resulted in that pitch that he was
doing that resulted in the Grand Slam. The next pitch,
uh from ber.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
With the pitch after. I think they had like.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
The worked account in his favorite Oh.

Speaker 3 (46:57):
Right, I saw you note that fat Yeah, maybe he
called her a fall the first one, so you couldn't
cross him up, right, Yeah, hypothetically.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
The uh right, So two pitches later, I apologize on
one occount he called for a breaking ball very clearly
the way he didn't receive this ball and got a sinker.
There was some movement on that thing right into I
guess the ribs. Obviously he's wearing some patting, but it

(47:26):
it hurts. He moves his glove from the normal kind
of catcher pose to to you clearly think he's getting
a slider right, like the way it's dropping down, like
he's going to receive it in the dirt. He absolutely doesn't.
He received it in the chest or the ribs. And
then Robert immediately just turns around, turns around, and well,

(47:48):
my mind.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
Has changed the memory of this watching after watching the
Highlight last night, because now when I think of it,
I just imagine looking at the camera directly like John Krasinski.

Speaker 1 (47:58):
Well, there's kind of a thing where like Alazar kind
of looks the way that the cameras he he like
the ball bounces away or whatever. He ends up throwing
the ball back and then he takes off his helmet
and it's kind of like.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
You're gonna like acknowledge me at all, and Robert exactly, no,
I will not.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
And then you can see he's just kind of like
all right, like that's fucked. Essentially, he didn't say that,
but that's like he's on it.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (48:27):
Also, he can't leave, he's got to He's just got
to keep catching, and they were both pulled into Joe
Spata's office after the game. Bromber apologized, but also maintained
it was just a cross ups up. You can't deny that.

Speaker 3 (48:48):
I want to get. I want to I'll get the
exact the quote here. It was not intentional. It's from
the athletic. It was not intentional. Valdez said, I called
for a shinker and that's the pitch I wanted. There
was a lot of noise and I thought that's what
he wanted me to throw. But no, it was not intentional.
Bell does does not wear a PitchCom device on his
glove to call his own games. Ask how he could
call anything given that circumstance, Valdez replied it wasn't necessarily

(49:11):
that I called for it. That was just the pitch
I had in mind. He called, he called for the
curve ball, and I didn't hear it because of the noise.
When I realized that he didn't want that, it was
too late and I was already in my throwing motion.
It was totally my fault in that case. Bal Bell
has appeared to show no remorse or concern for Salasar's
well being after throwing the pitch. Valdes said he apologized

(49:32):
to his catcher both in the dugout and in the
clubhouse after the game.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
Yeah, him, give him a card. Just if this feels
like one of those apologies where you just leave a
note and just don't don't be there when he opens it.

Speaker 3 (49:45):
If you if you realize three yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:48):
Ninety three miles per hour. I do think Patrick, we
need to address I assume you're saying it as a joke,
but like, how did the Anthony Volte not swing out? No?
It is.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Almost almost Maybe maybe he was maybe he was expecting
a curve ball too.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Maybe maybe because he couldn't hear it.

Speaker 1 (50:07):
But put the watching this turns around and the camera
like Salasar just it is almost like the like you're
saying Valdez like the christiansky thing. But Salazar just looks
out at him like.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
Well because if if you realize it's a cross up
like in your bush or whatever that he said, and
you the response is like like this happens.

Speaker 1 (50:35):
Like it's like, oh, you know, you know, I've seen
the response I've seen like he wins.

Speaker 3 (50:41):
You come out, like come out and have a conver
like you wave him out if you figure out what happened.

Speaker 1 (50:45):
No, No, it was just like look I have received before. Okay,
that is the kind of look he got. That's like you.

Speaker 3 (50:56):
It's like it's like the GOOFY mean, like I'll do
it again. Like it's.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
Face is absolutely I mean like do you what do you?
You just hope they bury it, like I don't know.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
Also from the Athletic Tuesday offered another test of Valdez's emotions,
something the Astros have worked tirelessly to help them keep
more control of. Much of the credit goes to doctor
Andy nunie Is, one of the team sports psychologists based
in the Dominican Republic. Nunya Is ironically started one of
his yearly visits to the major league team before Tuesday's
game gonna need more than a fifty minute session there.
I think you might want to stick around, make it

(51:34):
a double man.

Speaker 1 (51:35):
Yeah, that'll be an interesting like do you I was thinking,
do you do you think this could impact something like this?
And I don't mean this incident, but clearly like there,
they've worked tirelessly to manage Yes, do you think that
impacts his free agency?

Speaker 2 (51:55):
Maybe maybe with a couple of teams.

Speaker 3 (51:57):
Yeah, I mean pictures, pictures are weird, like he like
he's lefty. I do think it's notable he didn't do
this with Diaz behind the plate because I feel like
Diaz would have just gone out there and bought him.

Speaker 1 (52:15):
Salazar needs to get into the Tommy Fams fight school
or something like.

Speaker 2 (52:21):
Yeah, he needs he needs to coach, just for just
to stand up for himself, you know, like all right.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
All right, we're good with these Oh I just want
to I just want to add one thing on the
anger issues. It was surprising restraint from Don Kelly, and
I apologize. I'm going to bring up a Dodgers thing
the guy who gets mad at me about this, but uh,
will will Smith bowl the ball off into Henry Davis's

(52:49):
glove yesterday. The umpire just called it a ball.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
It wasn't.

Speaker 1 (52:56):
It wasn't a full swing. It was like it was
it was inside and he moved his hands in a
little bit. It caught the bat like he didn't. It
was by no, it was nowhere close to a full swing,
but it absolutely hit the bat. And then Davis caught it.
The umpire doesn't budge. Davis is like pointing it touched

(53:20):
the bat. I have it, and no, sorry, Kelly comes out.
He's pissed. Right, this would end the inning. The Pirates
had a two run lean at this point. Smith singles
in a run the next pitch from second base, and
I thought, for my life, like this is it. He didn't,

(53:42):
and I thought, okay, like it's like I don't know
the fifth or sixth, and I thought, he's getting run
from this game. Later like he's telling this guy after
their mother whatever, I'm saving it, but I'm going to
get it in. Never gets ran. I was stunned. I thought, yeah,
I'm sorry, it's the Pirates.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
But yeah, like one of the more reason I guess
on some level right to not get run, yeah, to
get run, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (54:07):
It's right. Yeah, I mean like it's just like, what
do you It doesn't really.

Speaker 3 (54:10):
Matter they end up winning that game, right.

Speaker 1 (54:12):
Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, yeah, but surprising.

Speaker 3 (54:17):
It is very confident, like we'll get them boys. Yeah,
I think we'll get them.

Speaker 1 (54:22):
Kelly absolutely. Uh. Shall we move on to last second shopping.
We've got some recently cut individuals latching on with other
teams or placed on waivers who are latching on with
other teams. We can start with Carlos Santana to the Cubs.
If you aren't getting what you need out of one

(54:43):
forty year olds, you just go to another.

Speaker 2 (54:45):
I guess he's thirty nine.

Speaker 5 (54:47):
Craig.

Speaker 1 (54:48):
Look, I am also thirty nine, and I've just been
telling people I'm forty for the last couple of years,
and I'm gonna keep saying I'm forty until i'm forty two.

Speaker 3 (54:56):
Feel forty you feel forty?

Speaker 1 (54:58):
Yeah, thank you. I think I'm warning and I'm forty
two or forty three, and then I'm gonna be forty five.
I think we just going round roundish numbers at this point. So, yeah,
he's forty. Whether he's forty or not, he's forty. Honestly,
if you asked me the guess his age I might
have said, like forty two, I don't. It feels like

(55:21):
I don't particularly see this going well. But at least
he can play a little more defense if they need
to take Michael Bush out for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (55:31):
Yeah, I mean, it can't go much worse than Justin Turner.

Speaker 1 (55:35):
No, right, and this is they have not ye know,
they have not made.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
The corresponding move yet, but this is ostensibly what it's for, right,
I just would have to imagine Justin Turner is betting
two fifteen, two eighty four, three fifteen, and also he
is only batting.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
So Santana can at least play first base, if you right,
it's I don't see that being a significant difference maker.
I mean, Santana also bad enough to get cut, so
you consider that hat song Kim.

Speaker 2 (56:06):
Yeah, this is probably the most is absolutely really sure
Why I didn't put this one first?

Speaker 1 (56:11):
Yeah, I should have probably should have started the absolutely
more interesting the rays cut him or place.

Speaker 3 (56:18):
Him on waivers, place him on the like, not provoke whatever, liked.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
Not the irrevocable waivers whatever. Essentially, if you.

Speaker 3 (56:26):
Claim take back, yeah, right, but you paid the money.

Speaker 1 (56:30):
Up, right, you picked the money up and the money
is significant this year so much as next year, where
he has a sixteen million dollars player option that he's
almost certainly going to be picking up. Yeah, Atlanta hasn't
had a shortstop for I mean, yeah, they had the
one good Orlando Arcia season, which had a short stop

(56:50):
completely flucid. Well you want to stand for Nick Allen, No,
you have to, you have to play one, right. Sure,
For a few years they have not really had any
production from the short stop position out going back to
Orlando's Arcia's flopish season. You know, I don't know what
Hawsung Kim offers at this point, but it seems like

(57:11):
he's going to be their short stop heading into twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 2 (57:15):
I mean, if he is, if he is what he
was before twenty twenty five, he's the A league average
bet who can play good defense, and that is better
than a bad bet who.

Speaker 1 (57:25):
Can play good defense, which is what they have.

Speaker 2 (57:28):
It Also like, because of the Aussi Albi situation, they
basically had both middle infield you know, positions and complete
disarray right now. At least they only have to fix
one of them if they want to, if they feel
like moving on, I gotta feel like if they're willing
to pay haws On Kim sixteen million dollars.

Speaker 1 (57:45):
Oh, they're not moving on from but it is just
two big question marks at this point. Haws On Kim
this year two fourteen, two ninety three, twenty one with
the Rays, Yeah, that is significantly below average. He's coming
off the shoulder injury. He also landed on the eel
for other reasons. So it's it's been a very interrupted year,

(58:06):
only twenty four games. I'm not trying to say this
is the new normal, but for a guy who basically
reached league average or not based on his ability to
slug close to four hundred, right, it's a little concerning
coming off the shoulder surgery.

Speaker 2 (58:27):
He doesn't feel like a career two forty hitter, that's
for sure, right, But he is, Yeah, and so he
does need to slug. He does need He don't need
to slug a lot, but enough to get it to
opposed to one, Yeah, exactly, which is this year? I
think I think this is a reasonable gamble to take
for a single year.

Speaker 1 (58:48):
Sure, I think you also look at the shortstop market
and if you know you're not going to be in
on Boba Schett like we're talking about like maybe.

Speaker 3 (58:55):
This is even a shortstop still. I mean I guess
he is technically, but.

Speaker 1 (58:59):
Yeah, but you know this might be Again, we saw
what Willia Domas went for. We can guess what Bobachett
is going to go for. This is a short term
commitment at at worst.

Speaker 3 (59:13):
Sure, and from the race point of view, they cleared
sixteen million in falery can just play Carson Williams every day.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
Correct, And he last I looked, which was a few
days ago, was doing pretty well.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
He's down one four hundred, which is like not awful,
but also no, it's but right right, you struck out
twelve times and thirty two plate appearances. He has an
extra base hit. See he's Carson Williams.

Speaker 1 (59:36):
Yeah, but yeah for the race again, clearing that.

Speaker 3 (59:41):
Money is yeah, yeah, yeah, even if you picked up
they were.

Speaker 1 (59:45):
Gonna have to trade him. The question was, you know
how much they might have to kick in to do so,
because no one was going to do it for free
because they knew the race had to do it right,
Like they just get out from under that immediately.

Speaker 3 (59:57):
Right, you know, it's like it's a calculator risk because
he has a really good season. Then you can either
I guess keep him, but probably not keep him, but
then you can flip him like in more of like
the Tyler glassnow kind of way.

Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Absolutely, Walker Buehler released from the Red Sox to make
room for Peyton Toley, right, and.

Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
I think originally to make room for to keep dust
In May, who they then moved to.

Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
The Okay, fair enough, Uh he latches on in Philadelphia.
The Phillies are going to a six man rotation for
the remainder of the season, the balance of the season.
I didn't see he didn't start for them.

Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Yet, did he.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
I don't believe so, No, no, he is not.

Speaker 1 (01:00:42):
Yeah, you know, it's an interesting decision to go six
man rotation involving Walker Buehler because they're already pitching Taiwan Walker,
who I know has been good. He got lit up alone.

Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
I mean they can I guess they're still like kind
of fighting for the bye, but they can just do
things for the last right.

Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
Yeah, that's true, that's true. They have This is more.

Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
This is more about the other five men in the.

Speaker 3 (01:01:06):
Keep innings maintenance for Suarez and for Sanchez and whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
Right, you want to provide some pillow room, you have
some some wavel room in the standing ins. Obviously, the
Wheeler situation means you were down a picture in that regard.
I know you've kind of spoken to this already, Jeff,
but like, does it say anything that they're doing this
instead of just throwing Andrew Painter out there?

Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
Does I know, maybe maybe you should have just kept
Nobul Chris Matt you can put him in that instead
of whatever twenty twenty five Walker Bueller.

Speaker 1 (01:01:38):
Is Yeah, yeah, well no, but but obviously we can
see that Andrew Painter isn't like necessarily ready for prime time.
He's not pushing right, yes, but look like at the
same time, yeah, you can the Viueler's not pushing anything either.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
Yeah, he's pushing four and a half pronoun And I.

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
Guess you don't want to bring Painter up struggle. You're
okay of Walker regular struggles for a starter too, and
you can just like move him to the pen or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
Right you have the You can go to Painter later,
I guess if you need to. But I kind of
wonder it's not the same thing obviously, But like Bubba
Chandler stagnated a little bit at Triple A. I think
he had pirates players texting him, I'm sorry, uh, Painter

(01:02:26):
obviously in a different situation, getting major league rehab and
all that kind of stuff. But do you wonder if
if it's at all just like I'm I'm, I'm like,
I should be in the comers, and I'm he's.

Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
I mean, he's pretty far off the surgery now, right,
So they're right, and not that everything he looked fine
in fall ball last year too, like metrically like his
stuff has just backed up this year. And sometimes that happens, right.

Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
And sometimes it happens for a season we saw with
Hurston Waldrop recently, right like, and then it's you get
a couple of ticks back and you're in a better situation.
Andrew Heaney signs with the Dodgers. Yeah, I don't know
what this is. Four It's fine, who cares. That's fine.

(01:03:13):
But also I don't think I'm gonna find four ticks
on the fastball here. No, I wouldn't expect. I just
don't know what it's for. Obviously it's after September. They
can't take him to the playoffs anyway. I guess it's
just like if they did, they get him in time.

Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
I got him in time.

Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
Oh did they?

Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Oh no, I mean it was I.

Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
Also think they have lefties on lefties at this point
in the bullpen. I can't imagine he cracked the starting rotation.
Their starting rotation is actually full right now.

Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
Let's see you.

Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
No, no, it's not on it's not on b refs transactionalists.
So I have to look, all right, well you're doing that. Patrick.
We mentioned Isaiah Kinder for LEFA to Toronto and I'm
just gonna play. Yeah, we're gonna give Ernie Flement a break.

Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Yeah sure, Now he signed on the second, so yeah,
he's not postseason eligible. This is this is just theoretical,
you know this This is say you're adding us, you're
putting your rotation, or you're both end on a six mune.

Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Yeah, I know. I was gonna say, like maybe it's
it's uh if you get a big enough lead and
you just want to have someone else take a start.
But like presumably they have guys they can do that with.
I do also want to upt Well, I'll update an injurance.
Let's go to September. Call ups, Jeffrey, you have a

(01:04:41):
forthcoming article.

Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
Yeah, there's nothing super and I mean the Red's finally
called up sou Stewart, who I think we talked about
one of the shows last week too, essentially replaced Donigo.
It's been all probably should have done that before you
went one in five the week before. But he's up
with the timeber calls. He got a hit in the
first game. I don't know what he did yesterday. Orf

(01:05:04):
even played. But outside of that, like you know, we've
we've mentioned some of the major ones. Henry Ford, Henry
Harry Ford.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Called up maybe you're too late.

Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
Very funny to call. It's a good bit to call
up another catcher. I know Rally does d H a lot,
but it's still a good bit too. I'm carry Ford
can play other.

Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Positions and Mitch Garver can not play.

Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
Mitch Carver could theoretically not play. That's probably not what
is going to happen, but probably not. I do what
I know, Like I don't know, Yes, George Valeria, I
guess that could have gone into my guy section. He
didn't really get a call up. I don't remember why
I didn't write him per se. But like Dylan Beaver's

(01:05:48):
is having a nice little yes jaunt for the like
he's not. He might like the one on one if
he keeps doing this in the majors. Like I've always
kind of liked him, but he's he's a tough he's
like a hit tool first lefty, like left fielder, I
should say, he's also a lefty, but like it's it's

(01:06:08):
a little bit of a weird profile. It's like it's
like not no power, it's an odd it's an odd swing.
He's already twenty four. But you know, he's the guy
that I think will play a fair bit for the
Orioles going forward.

Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
I will say, Uh, Scott Kingry called up.

Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Yes, Christian Morris sent back down for yes reasons, I guess.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
But my favorite, my favorite move was the my dark
horse rookie year pick for the National League, Craig Yoho
I got called up. Uh. He of the one point
zero four e ra interp A forty three. He was
really terrible in the first two weeks of the season, Okay,
and then it hasn't been seen now I will.

Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
Which is amazing because they're both as many pictures as
we've been talking about the Milwaukee Has like they're running
through them right now. Christian Moore, I mean, you say
for reasons, the reasons.

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Being I know he hasn't been good, but like it
doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
It doesn't matter, right, I grant you. I grant you that.
Uh yeah, No, Dylan Babs has been yep, very good,
and I obviously came he came up before. But Pasios
looked pretty good in I don't know his slash line.
I'm gonna be honest with you, but like I have toot. Okay, sure,

(01:07:29):
he looks to me like he's taking competent.

Speaker 3 (01:07:32):
It does not look as good as Jeremiah Jackson, who
is hitting three thirty three.

Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
He's still absolutely nuts. Yeah, I mean this is the look.
Joe adell is having a good year. Why can't Jeremiah Jackson? Okay,
I don't know who else from those lists can we?

Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
I was both that Victor Mason Jr. Has already actually
been up once because I was excited for him to
make his debut. But no, he played for four days
in the May.

Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
Okay, go to injuries. I wanted to update.

Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
We did.

Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
We got an update on Roman Anthony. He will miss
four to six weeks. I'm gonna pass this along. The
quote I saw was of Alex Cora. He said it
sounds harsh, but we need to move on.

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
We're just.

Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
It's it's I don't know, it's an oblique strain of
a guy who could be backed by the playoffs. And
I guess he's saying for the remainder of the season.
Sure would probably be the context there, but just Alex
Cora out of nowhere, being like, just leave it. If
he dies, he dies, Like it's like, it's just an
oblique strain, Alex. It's okay, Like you know, you.

Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
Don't have to like, what's that movie or that's it's
I think they made it into movies a Stephen King Shorts,
Toy of the Water.

Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
It's coming out, It's coming out.

Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
Okay, Yeah, they making I think they made a movie
on it before too makes a move on it. Maybe
it's a keep, but yeah, just like, yeah, Roman Anthony
just got a fall away. He's like he can't play anymore,
all right, Well they just yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
I just it sounds harsh, but we have to move
on from Roman Anthony, who's gonna be back in maybe
a month. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
Alex Corra is the road, yeah, uh.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
So scurry in my head, I went through I went
through the wrong guryl. I just paused that that was
just my brain freezing completely. Lordis thank you. Patrick Guryel
Torre's a c L Yeah. Uh, I mean obviously just
a disaster season for Arizona anyway, Yeah, and for him,

(01:09:37):
but not ideals, but enough time to be back, you know,
back in shape for next year. I had not seen this.
Jason Adam ruptured his squad.

Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
Yeah, it's like it's a It's just a bad sprain, right,
I know what pitching just like pushing out. I guess
I didn't actually see it, but it sounded like it
just like happened in the course of normal.

Speaker 1 (01:10:02):
I guess it's a good and uh, you know, Robert
Suarez and Jeremiah Strata and.

Speaker 2 (01:10:10):
I feel like I feel like, you know, we don't
use rupture enough.

Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
Yeah, you're just moving up the leg a little bit,
I guess a little.

Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
I feel like all needs should rupture.

Speaker 5 (01:10:24):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
That seems like the most rupturable part of the body. Hey,
you were your need it's ruptured.

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Yeah, not ruptured. Edward Cabrera's sprained elbow, well.

Speaker 3 (01:10:35):
I mean a sprain sprain is a tear, and a
rupture is a tear.

Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
So but I don't know if a sprain is I
don't know if does a transitive property neither. Uh, he
has sprained his elbow. Not only a tremendous season obviously
not not what you want. But I guess Miami, Yeah,
I mean successful season. I guess.

Speaker 3 (01:10:57):
Oh, come on, I mean yeah, I mean I did.
I did on the previous show. I thought they might
be the worst team in baseball and I.

Speaker 2 (01:11:04):
Was with you, and they have not yea, and they're
and like they have not in a way that will
probably make them a few games.

Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
And look, I know it's a season for Atlanta, but
they are ahead of Atlanta. Yeah by three games they are.
You know it is a minus eighty but whatever. But yeah, no,
I mean generally a successful season. I think you know,
Sandy al Contra has looked better.

Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
Yes, I just like wonder for the team, Like it's
like Kyle Stower is going to do this next year,
that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Like it, But they didn't have anybody like Kyle star
Wars like.

Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
They had Kyle Stowers for someone last year.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Well, but you didn't think of it.

Speaker 1 (01:11:43):
He wasn't like this.

Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
Yeah, I mean, how's how's jj baede doing this year?
I don't know?

Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
How is not good? Not good. Yeah, okay, so let's
play again.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
I just say before we go into the game, I
do want to. We don't do what to watch anymore.
I do want to and you're not going to hear
the probably before the game happened, but since I have,
you should have watched what you should have watched for
sickos uh Angels Royals tonight Caden Dana against Ryan Berger.
Wow yeah, wow, yeah the game. I looked at the

(01:12:16):
standings like probably pretty well.

Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
I looked at the standings fifteen times during this podcast.
I don't know where are the Royals games over?

Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
They're a half game behind the Rangers.

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
Okay, so they're they're still in the picture.

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
Yes, they're absolutely they're in the they're in the hunt
on the graphic.

Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
Okay, all right, all right, that takes us to the game.
I do uh, okay, that's fine, good please all right.
So this is Homer at the bat. This is uh,
this is a simple one.

Speaker 5 (01:12:43):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
I for seven National League teams. I have the top
three home run hitters for each team and interns. You're
going to go in the studio and what's going to
happen is this season, this season, you get three guesses.
You get five points for guessing the guys.

Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
Yeah, this is like where I've the Actually these actually
ten different teams than last week.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
These are we did the americanly last time, and so
I did make sure we got one more run out
of this game. All right, So Craig, you're gonna go first. God,
all right, So tell me you have three guesses? Who
has the most home runs on the Miami Marlins?

Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
Well, Kyle Stowers, Oh, I have three guys. Okay, Okay, okay, boy,
they really don't. I mean, like what kills me is
I I like, I know Jacob Marcy has a great
that's not a guess, Like he's come up and been
really good for them, Like when Jeff is like they

(01:13:43):
don't have anybody like he's been very good. I don't
believe in it, but like he hasn't played enough. So okay,
I'm gonna go with. Can I name someone? It's like
Homer's as a Marlin. Yeah, it's Homers as a Marlin. Okay,
jesus uh Oh, I'm gonna say Augustin Ramirez Okay, and

(01:14:05):
what I'm like tempted to say Hayesus Sanchez because I
just don't know who else who else on this team
would have. I'm gonna say Hazus Sanchez. That's probably wrong.
He's not even that big a power hitter.

Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
But next the Milwaukee Burs, oh god.

Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
They just have everyone with like the same damn amount.
That's that's uh like Churio has been hurt. Okay, oh
uh hmm. Yeah, it's tough too because Hoskins and then
he got hurt, and then Vaughan hasn't played enough. Damn. Okay,

(01:14:46):
I'm just gonna say William Contreras. Okay, this is ridiculous,
but I think I have to Bryce terraing As like
fifteen or sixty eight. I'm gonna I'm gonna say Bryce
terrang Kap. I feel now, I feel bad about that,
and I guess I'm gonna say Christian Yelich.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
Okay. H Third, we have the Chicago Cubs.

Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
Okay, all right, let me see. I'm gonna say Saya Suzuki.
I'm gonna say Michael Bush third on the Cubs. That's interesting.
Crow Armstrong fell off and it's like PCA or it's

(01:15:34):
gonna be like fucking Carson Kelly or some bullshit. But
he doesn't.

Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
He sits a lot. Yeah, I'm gonna say Crow Armstrong, mkay.
Fourth category Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
Oh no, fuck can I no?

Speaker 5 (01:15:54):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
I want to say Kyle Talker. I want to say,
Kyle Tucker.

Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Who are you taking that? H Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Jesus, that was embarrassing everyone. I apologize Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Okay, boy, what a weird team, especially for Homer's. I
guess I'll say Ellie. I'm gonna assume he's up there.
I actually don't know exactly how many Homers he has.
I'm gonna say, Noelvi Marte, he's the only guys slugging.

(01:16:28):
I don't know their catcher positions on anything. Their first
base has been a mess, claim's been awful. Lux is
not adding for power. Boy, this is I don't know,
like the their best power hitter on the Reds is

(01:16:55):
I don't know. It can't be he doesn't have power.
But like the only name I can think of as
t J. Freudell, don't. I don't know who who am
I missing? I don't think i'm missing anything.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Maybe I would've been missing anything.

Speaker 8 (01:17:10):
Yeah, I'm gonna go San Diego, Padres, San Diego, Padres,
you gotta go Manny Machado gotta go Tatis.

Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Uh it's if Gavin Sheets is up there, I'm gonna
be furious, but it might be Meryl's been hurt, Bogart's
been hot the second half, but I don't think it's
real power. Uh yeah, let's fucking go with Gavin Sheets, Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
San Francisco Giants.

Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
God, that's that's bleak Patrick. I honestly, who's hitting for?
I guess is Chapman. I know he missed some time.
I'm gonna say Chapman. I'm gonna say Helio Ramos has

(01:18:03):
been fine. I'm gonna know with Hello Ramos. And then
it's like Lee or a Damas probably, but I don't know.
Because Flores fell off, they've been playing like Don Smith.
I'm gonna go chunking League Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
And lastly the Rockies. Mmmm, you knew they were coming.
M you know what I should have but I shouldn't.
And it's it's the taste. The initial taste is uh,
Yike's Hunter Goodman. End of story. Uh uh boy, They've

(01:18:47):
cycled through.

Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
So many but I guess I'm gonna say Ezekiel Tovar.
I don't know how much time he's missed, but I'm
gonna go with him. And God, is it like Jordan Beck?
Has he played enough? I had another name popping in
my head and I lost it. Oh you know what,
I honestly, this is completely out of the blue. I

(01:19:08):
don't know. I don't think it's Doyle. I don't. I don't.
I don't think it's Oil, Mickey Moniac. Let's just go
with Mickey Moniac for comedy.

Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
All right, that's the end, Jeff, go ahead, welcome back, Jeff.
All right, you're gonna go ahead and get started.

Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
With the Miami Marlins, Kyle Stowers, Augustin Ramirez. Oh, yep,
I feel like it's like a sneaky.

Speaker 1 (01:19:43):
May.

Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
They traded Hazus Sanchez, but it might be Hazys Sanchez.
I'm with Hazu Sanchez, Okay, exactly what I did. Yeah,
I thought Otto Lopez was like a sneaky one there
because they keep I keep seeing him hit home runs.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
But score is eight to eight. The Milwaukee Brewers.

Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
It's hard because they all have the same number.

Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
Yeah, and a lot of them have like missed time too.

Speaker 1 (01:20:06):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
Cheerio can frist terrang One hasn't been there long enough.
Maybe Contraresras.

Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
All right, current scores thirteen to thirteen. Wait, how but
we didn't name the same people. No, you didn't say
who did you name?

Speaker 1 (01:20:32):
Craig? I did not say Cheerio. I said Yelich.

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Oh you said Yelis. Okay, so sorry, you're right Craig.
You're up fifteen to thirteen because it is Yellis first.
Cheerio was second.

Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Oh, and I didn't name it. I didn't name Cheerio,
so I thought he missed too much time.

Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
Chicago comes.

Speaker 3 (01:20:57):
I have four Tucker, PCA Bush.

Speaker 1 (01:21:04):
All right, score is now nineteen to nineteen. It's PCA first,
Suzuki second. Oh my god, I off.

Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
You took him off. That's perfect.

Speaker 1 (01:21:16):
It's okay, I did, I said, I said the top three,
and then I begged Patrick to let me replace with Tucker. No,
you shouldn't stop me. That's my fault.

Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
Category four we're all side up. Cincinnati reds.

Speaker 3 (01:21:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:21:37):
This this fell to me like billyon on the street
saying name a woman like I got a couple, and
it was like, neame a red, neame of red. I
can't I can't do it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:46):
Ellie yep mmmmm. Mark hasn't been there that long. It's
been good. Mat McLean has been bad. But I feel

(01:22:06):
like he's played all season hit for some power like
TJ for Dell or something, and I'm gonna be really annoyed.
Tyler Stevenson got hurt. It's not I'm just it's not
Gavin Locks. Who the hell is playing first base for them?

Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
Now?

Speaker 3 (01:22:25):
I should also know that, in the interest in moving
this along, I will say Matt McClain and yeah, fuck it,
TJ Fordell.

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
All right, you're ahead by one. It's currently twenty five
to twenty four because first place is De la Cruz,
second place is Spencer Steer and McLean.

Speaker 1 (01:22:53):
It's Matt McLain. Really at home run not a lot,
but a lot of home runs that is not a.

Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
Lot of Also, yes, nobody, nobody on the Reds six
round next to San Diego padres.

Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
H Barrel's missed a lot of time. Machado cheers, Machado, tatis,
I'll go with the Crown Zone.

Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
I guess okay, Craig takes a two point lead. It
is thirty five to thirty three.

Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
As Gavin Sheets.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
You forgot about Gavin Sheets.

Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
I mean I did.

Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
But also Coachado's.

Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
First of sheets and tattoos are signed. Time for second.

Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
All right, you got a chance to catch up the
San Francisco Giants.

Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
Do I though, Matt Chapman, I feel like Flores had
that's like all he's done, because he was like leading
an RB eyes for a while.

Speaker 1 (01:24:01):
But it was very early.

Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
It was very early. Yeah, Devers, I don't think it's
had a ton. It's like it's not a very high slug.
And we know he had he added one to this,
he added one yesterday. Yeah, this is like Junghule, but
he differently hit for power. I will go with Chapman, Devers, Flores,

(01:24:31):
why not? Okay, g Stremski or something.

Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
Craig's lead expands to three. It is U thirty nine
to thirty six. His favor a Damas A Damas has
twenty six home runs.

Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
Oh yeah, Willie Adoms, Yeah yeah I didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
I didn't name him, did he didn't name him? Had
that many?

Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
Chapman second with eighteen and Helia Ramos is third. Yeah.
I felt okay about ms I just didn't think that
Donnas had them.

Speaker 2 (01:24:55):
Yeah, it's bad, So it's gonna be tough for you.
Jeff but last last one is the Rockies.

Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
Hunter Goodman, dam.

Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
Yep, I believe I said Hunter Goodman. End of story.

Speaker 3 (01:25:13):
Doyle's Doyle's been hurt, Tovar has been hurt. I'm gonna
go with totally uh he had some early. I'm going
to go with Mickey Moniac and Jordan Beck Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
So close it didn't matter actually kissing it down by three.
But mcgodman is first, Moniac is second, Ryan McMahon Oh
I departed. Ryan McMahon's third. Craig wins forty seven to
forty four. Gratulations, Greg amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
I feel right well and also my own undermining myself.

Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
I made it closer than I had to be.
