Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, I'm Dodie and I'm Allison, and you're listening to
the bloom Salute?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Did you have any Blue Book Club?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Where do we even start? It's been a whole year,
since whole year recorded.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
It just took a little break. As you do. I mean,
Judy does.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
It too, we can do it. Yeah, if Judy does it,
we can do it. Bloomheads, We're so sorry. We things
just happened. And I'm a huge avoid, like anxious avoid,
and so the longer we didn't record an episode, the

(00:58):
more anxiety I had about addressing the fact that we
hadn't recorded an episode. And I, like y'all, I would
think about the pod every day, literally, but I just
couldn't face the music. And even talking to you about like, Okay,
what's our plan moving forward was very scary for me.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
It's true. I would keep doing like schedules and schedules
and I could tell it was just like no, but
actually it doesn't work. And it was just very like
I think, and I think we actually have what kind
of different styles where I'm like overplanning and then I
think my overplanning was like stressful for your avoiding, and

(01:41):
it just was like not it was just not meshing.
It was very like days turned into months, months to years,
like you know, the time just kept going. And you know,
as we've mentioned on some of our different forums, like
our life's been a little crazy in the last year. Yeah,

(02:02):
let's talk about what you've been up to. I've been productive.
I had a baby.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
You produced a baby.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I produced a baby, a little Evy. I like calling
her a little Evie because it reminds me of great
gardens because it's not Edie, but it's I just like
saying she's a little Evie that reminds me of it.
And she's so cool and so wild and so squawky
and just a lot in a good way. And I

(02:38):
got married too. And this pod has really been my
big life moments pod. You know, we started it when
I was pregnant with Poe, so it saw the birth
of Poe. It's all my divorce, it saw my you know,
finding love again five a babe. Like, there's so many

(03:01):
big moments, and so it feels so special to be
able to share these things with you. But also life
is hard, and so it became hard to juggle all
of it. Yeah, but joyous things. And I can't wait
to share so much Judy with this child because Poe's

(03:25):
a super fan.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Now I can tell Evie's going to be your real Sheila.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Oh, Evie's such a Shila. She's going to be a
lot in the best way.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
I also think it's just so amazing al You've been
through almost every life stage one could ever imagine, and
it's just so cool to know that if you're a
person who's just kind of like in a rud or
feeling like things aren't right, your life can be completely
different four years down the road.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
It's true, your life can change changed.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
So I mean, I know it didn't feel quick while
you were going through it, but like looking back, like whoa, no,
I love what's happened.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
We were reflecting on that last night because it's been about,
you know a little over three years that my ex
and I separated and then I moved out of the house,
and like everything really changed. And there was a moment
I think probably this time three years ago, where I

(04:32):
was just so sad about how everything had kind of
gone yeah, And and what I did was I wrote
that down that I am very sad, and I kept
looking at it, you know, as time went by and
Eventually I looked at it and went, I don't think
that's true anymore. Like things have changed enough, and I'm not,

(04:56):
you know, profoundly sad anymore. I am I'm changing, and
I think it's true, like so much of my life
has changed so dramatically in the last eight years, and
at different points and at different times, and not always
for the better, But there has been a lot of

(05:17):
positive in it all. And I do think you just
you can't. You can't think it's all going to be
the same forever, right.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
I think you and Judy have so much in common too.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
It's true she was divorced.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Their children, y'all could have a lot to talk about, Yeah, which,
you know, that'd be something we're still thinking. Maybe a
Key West trip one of these days.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
One of these days, it's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yeah, I can't say that I have had any big
life changes. I'm kind of the opposite of you. Nothing
really changes in my life. I haven't VISI line now.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
That's yeah, not all the changes have to be big.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Uh huh. My only excuse for pod avoidance was just work.
I don't know. This year I really had to start
making more money.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Part Yeah, you're self employed, you're an entrepreneur. You know
that you have and you do have creatures in a
family to take care of, and so sometimes you have
to put that first. That's true, and so it is
good to take a break from something you've been doing
for seven years and.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Regroup and restructure. And I guess, speaking of restructuring, do
we want to talk about twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Twenty twenty five is going to look different. I'm taking
a step away from the pod. I love you all,
I love the pod. It means so much to me.
But in you know, the name of putting some things first,
I do have these two small children that I have

(07:09):
to somehow find time to also.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Work with and take care of.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
And so I'm going to take a step back from
the pod. I'm not leaving completely. I'm still going to
be around for some special reports, some guest moments. I
will be chiming in. Believe me, you'll see me on
the Facebook Free and Private group at times. Y'all aren't

(07:37):
rid of her, you aren't rid of me. But the
day to day podcast life, I'm taking a step away
from Jody's stan I'm here, I'm here, ayayay, and our
greatest guests of all time. Molly Sanchez will become a

(07:58):
more permanent fixture on the pod.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
She'll be your new partner. We are so excited for Mollie.
We love her so much. She's the perfect not replacement,
she's the perfect supplement for you because if y'all don't
know her, ugh, I can't wait for you to get
to know her. She is a gem. She is a
huge bloomhead. She is a fan of the podcast. But

(08:23):
also she's like the funniest person.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
She's so funny. I met Mollie in a sketch writing class.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Like almost two longs ago.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
So long ago, and she would have us all rolling
on the floor. And then has since gone on to
become a prolific sketch writer and comedian. And she does
stand up and spends a lot of time in la
She's had multiple podcasts herself. She's just such, as Jody said,
such a treasure. We're so lucky to have this funny lady.

(09:00):
You be a part of the cocoon. Almost feel like
we're not worthy, but you know, but somehow we've been
boozled her into it.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Another changes that we're going to switch from weekly to
every other week. This might allow us to bring you
a little bit longer episodes, a little more coverage. Rather
than doing just like one chapter a week, we might
do a couple chapter as wow.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Be able to move through the books a little quicker.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
So yeah, this, all these changes are what's going to
allow us to keep going in twenty twenty five and beyond.
And I can't wait to call out six. So Al
has to come in and for me. So, like I said,
she ain't going nowhere. What else? Oh, should we announce

(10:05):
the next book?

Speaker 2 (10:06):
I think we should definitely announce the next book.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Okay, so we decided obviously we need to get back
to our roots. We need to get back to the dudes.
I think, uh, I think some of our bloom heads
hit the nail on the head when they asked if
Harriet the Spy broke the pot.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Broke our brains and our spirits a little.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
So yeah, the next book we're going to do is
a classic fudge Mania fudge of media. We're getting back
to fudge. We've done tales of fourth grade, nothing superfudge
we did, Sheila, Now it's time for pudge. Al, are
you still going to voice fudge? I know we've talked

(10:47):
about that. We'll see I'll do some pop in voices, okay,
thank you. And also this is one of Molly's favorite
books of all time, so it's just perfect. So since
it's been three hundred and sixty five days since we've talked,

(11:08):
let's do a year in review of Judy News. How
does that sound perfect? We've compiled a little timeline of
Judy in twenty twenty four and there are two main
themes here. There is the Forever Netflix series news that's
been coming out in dribbles. So we've compiled big news,

(11:32):
big news. But I feel like it's been such a
tease because they've been talking about this for about four
years and we're finally starting to get information, real facts,
real stars, real locations. So we're gonna talk. There are some.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Interesting though I've noticed. Maybe maybe I'm just confused, but
I like I've seen some conflicting information that be trying
to throw us off a little bit interesting.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Okay, we'll get there. And then the other news is
so fucked up. This is the Utah book bands that
took place around August. But let's start with the fun stuff.
Shall we just do it? So in March we had
some news come out that Karen Pittman she's uh nya

(12:26):
on Sex and the City and just like that, and
the big alert was that she will not be returning
for the show's third season because of other commitments with
two series, one of which will be Netflix's Forever. So
that was solid. And then in April we started getting
more scoops on production and I'll chime in with your

(12:48):
conflicts here because that's very interesting. Filming started in early
April twenty twenty four ran through the summer. We know
that it was supposed to start in twenty twenty three,
but it was held up with all the strikes, so
a little bit behind schedule. We got some firm facts
about the stars. Well, first we know that Mara Brokakiel,

(13:12):
who famously made Girlfriends and a ton of other stuff.
She's perfect. She's the showrunner, executive producer. Judy will also
executive produce, along with many others.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Amazing.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
The episodes are going to be about sixty minutes long.
I wasn't quite clear on how many episodes there will be.
It looks like eight to.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Ten, yeah, I think between eight and ten.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
We do know that it's set in La so that's the.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Thing that I'm confused about. It's set in LA filming
and Martha's V.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Right, I wonder if they go on vacation to Martha's V.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
That's what I was wondering too. And then I was
also like, wait, are there going to be like allusions
to other Judy things with Martha's V? Like is this
a like teaser that they're gonna do summer Sisters? Wouldn't
that be crystals?

Speaker 3 (14:11):
So that's that's the piece where I'm like, hmmmmm, what's
this meme? Hmmm, I'm thinking that, Yeah, it's set in LA.
But then the Martha's V situation is kind of like
the analog tube when they go skiing in the book.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Oh, Like, oh, that's interesting because Martha's V is preppy
and skiing is preppy, and like maybe there's this like
preppy moment.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Love this preppy moment. So we have our main gal
our Catherine two point oh isn't called Catherine, she's Keisha
Clark and she's played by Lovey Simone, and we have
her described as young, confident, smart, and a fiery track
start with clear dreams for life after high school. So

(14:59):
similar to Katherine, Catherine was more of a modern dancer,
not a track star. But I see a lot of parallels.
Lovey has been in a bunch of stuff, including a
lead in Green Leaf. She is twenty six. I was
wondering if this show would be like real teens, but

(15:19):
I guess with all the sex stuff that might not
be allowed, I don't. It's hard to do. Yeah, we
have Justin Edwards. He is our new Michael, and he
is played by Michael Cooper Junior. Justin is a nerd
at heart disguised in an athlete's body. He dreams of

(15:41):
playing D one basketball and achieving more than his successful parents.
Love will lead him to who he truly is. So
yes basketball instead of ski Instructor's pin.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Dawn is Justin's mother. She is Karen Pittman, the aforementioned
and she is smart. She's a finance exec and she's
elegant and strict. Ooh, I think the parents are gonna
be much more involved in this series than in the book.
We've got Eric, that's Justin's father. He's in the restaurant biz.

(16:15):
He's a little more chill than mom, a little more relatable.
We have a little annoying brother Jaden. And then as
far as Keisha's family go, we have Shelley and she
is no stranger to hard work and hard knocks, but
has always taken care of her family. And then George
is Keisha's grandfather and he's he sounds like a good egg.

(16:38):
He is kind of her surrogate father, an advice giver.
And then we have some friends. We've got Chloe, a rich,
popular girl. Keisha's best friend, Darius. He's athletic, charming, girl crazy.
He's Justin's bestie.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Is that the Artie? Who's Artie?

Speaker 3 (16:56):
I don't know if we have an Artie or an Erica.
It is very different.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
They've reimagined the story.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, we have a Heather or a Brittany. I got
two different names from different sources. So here's another mystery
to solve. Heather slash Brittany is apparently beautiful and stylish,
one of Keisha's older cousins. She's also a new mom
but loves a girl's night out. Me too. And then

(17:34):
we have Tammy and she is Keisha's rival on the
track team and sounds like she's she's something. She's willing
to do whatever it takes to regain the number one
spot that Keisha stole from her. And yes, the Martha's
V drums? Do you want to talk about that? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (17:51):
I don't know much except that I know they're filming
in Martha's V and so the LA to Martha's V
like couldn't be farther right, But mar this V is
so classic Judy, So I'm just curious about how this
all kind of shakes out in the storytelling.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
There was some drama with production. Did you read about
the Netflix being barred from filming.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
No?

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Yeah, they wanted to film in a bunch of prominent
locations in chill Mark, but I guess the local board
struck them down due to concerns over traffic. They said,
we already have enough traffic. We already have enough stuff
on our plate. In my opinion, the town of chill
Mark doesn't need any more publicity. Wow, so real nimbies.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Doesn't surprise me.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
But you'd think they'd open their doors to judes hometown
hero well.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Especially now that Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are like
prolific Netflix users and they love Martha's Vineyard, you'd think
that there'd be some kind of handshaken working things out
but maybe that's part of like I already have you

(19:14):
know next president.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Here, right, they did allow them to film on private property,
private properties.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
So okay, but like not the carousel. There will be
a short.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Scene at town hall, so that's exciting. I'm like, what
are they doing in town hall? Are they getting married?

Speaker 2 (19:31):
How? What is going on? I wonder like how far
they take it? Like yeah, how much? Like obviously the
characters are deviating from the original story and the time,
you know, it's it's modern. But what what else?

Speaker 3 (19:47):
It's been a little quiet since they stopped filming, So
we'll keep y'all posted if anything else comes out.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Must be getting close.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
And then in July, do you want to talk about
the book that came out? Oh?

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Sure, in July there was a book that came out
all about Judy's kind of path to writing her books
there the way they've affected people. I read that it's
not very much like it's not a true biography, like
there were no you know, interviews with Judy. However, it's

(20:21):
very much about kind of Judy's legacy in writing, which
is really exciting. It is called Sorry, the Genius of
Judy How Judy bloom rewrote Childhood for All of Us
by Rachel Berg Scene and I'm so excited to get
my hands on this book. It's gorgeous, perfect And maybe

(20:43):
you guys could reach out to Rachel and see if
she wants to chat.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
I think so definitely. I mean, this shows how how
much of a hiatus we took over the past year,
because like, we didn't know about this book.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
It literally was published in July when I had a baby,
So I feel like an excuse, you have an excuse.
I mean I had in visi line, so I was
exactly busy too, just snatching my teeth exactly.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
But yeah, bloomheads, let us know if you've read it
and what you think. In August, y'all things got bad
this year, thirteen books, including Judy Bloom, Margaret Atwood, and
Sarah J. Moss have been officially made illegal in Utah
public schools. And so this is beyond what we've seen
even in the heyday of you know, eighties book banning.

(21:33):
Though many states have passed loss to facilitate book bans,
Utah is the first to outlaw a list of books.
So of course the Judy book was forever. I'm so
glad for the Netflix show because Fuck you Utah. Six
of those books were from Mosses, A Court of Thorns
and Roses and Throne of Glass series. I am not

(21:56):
very familiar with those posts.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
It's like sexy fairies and stuff.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, I know they're really popular on TikTok book TikTok
book talk. Yeah. I don't know about the sexy fairies.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
I don't either, but I know people like them.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Mm hmmm. So there was a state bill passed earlier
in the year for the evaluation of instructional material to
identify and remove pornographic or indecent material. What this means
is every school district has to report to the Utah
State Board of Education when it removes the title with

(22:36):
in quotes objective sensitive material from their libraries, and then
if the same book is removed in three school districts,
then it just gets automatically banned statewide. Like what this
state wide band can be overturned if three or more
Board of Education leaders put a book on a board

(22:59):
meeting a for the members to vote, But if it
doesn't vote to overturn the band within thirty days, it
becomes permanent, like irrevocable. And this is ongoing. So these
thirteen books were the first official books to be banned,
and we can only expect more and more and more.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
It's bonkers. I mean, just the priorities and the values
that in the way that they vary so wildly between
different states in this country, between different factions. It's just
it's a really wild time.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Of course, we're wondering what happens to these band books.
They must be legally disposed of and may not be
sold or distributed, so it burned? Yeah, like or this
could be kind of fun. Is it just like dumpsters
full of free books?

Speaker 2 (23:57):
That sounds really good?

Speaker 3 (23:59):
We could turn this into something cool, like a literary
dumpster dive party.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Oooh like where yeah, like we rescue band book.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yeah, we distribute to those in need. I like it
is this what we're doing now?

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Yeah? I think this is This is a really good initiative.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
So bloomheads, if you live in Utah, tell us what
you think. Tell us if you've noticed the impact, tell
us if you've noticed hundreds of copies of Forever in
your local dumpster. Can't wait to hear about it. At
least three other states, Tennessee, Idaho, and South Carolina are
moving towards putting the state government into the book banning business.

(24:41):
So hold on to your hats, folks. Judy hasn't really
been tweeting in a while. I don't know, she's a
she's on X these days.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Maybe she's anti Twitter.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
I think so. I mean, remember when she lived to tweet,
is what she said. But now she's been silent. No,
she's not actually silent, but I feel like.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
He's executive producing TV shows and running her bookstore.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Thank you. Simon and Schuster had a wild one hundredth
anniversary bash, and one of the highlights was Judy in attendance,
hob nobbing with like Charlottmagne, the God and other famouses
she saw. She said, the best thing is meeting all
these writers whose books I sell in my bookstore.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
What else do we have anything else?

Speaker 4 (25:31):
El?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
No, you know, I think it's it's nice to be
back in the fold. And I think there is about
to be another judaisance where people will to be talking
about her all the time again because of Forever, and
she'll be she'll be hitting the press tour, which is exciting.
We like when Judy is around. Yeah, and last year

(25:57):
was so exciting with the Margaret of it.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
I still think about her finger in my mouth all
the time, so lucky still haven't brushed my teeth.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Even within visil line. Yeah yeah, Oh, I'm disgusting just
like Brown.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
We've got a few letters. The mailbox has been open
and continues to be open, and you can send us
a note anytime at bloom Saloon at gmail dot com,
or go to our website or find us on one
of the socials. But there were a few that I
wanted to highlight that we got in the last year,
and so I'm gonna do that now. Each year we've

(26:53):
had our listener, Danny Danielle give us her top ten
of the year, and she wrote us a great top
ten in January of last year, and I thought it
only fair to highlight them so that we can go
back and reflect. Number ten. I don't have context for it,
but I love is that being okay is okay, and

(27:17):
that's real, that's true. Number nine Jody said, it's about
the journey, not the destination. I learned that. I'm pinterest.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
That one really got me.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Number eight we talked about pigeons, scientists and little jackets.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Okay, so what do you question.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
I know right. I love the idea of like having
to go back and find these Number seven that are
you there? God? Movie of course perfect no notes. Number
six Jody was writing in her diary and she said,
I hate Kate Bush.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
She sounds like a sheep. I remember that.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
And number five I also love this, Jody. I just
want to be therapy without knowing you. I think about
this all the time, like I want the benefits of
therapy without having to do therapy. Number four this was
from a different year, but Danny wanted to highlight it again.
It still makes her feel seen and it was me

(28:17):
angry swinging. Number three I said I loved Shakespeare and
all that bullshit, which true I do. Number two Jody's
early reaction to reading Harriet was I really like these
shitty little kids. And number one, speaking of the finger,

(28:38):
was that Jody met took me. We love Danny's list.
Thank you, Danny. Perfect. All right, We've got a letter
from Kirsten, a new listener, the subject line sweet Pickles. Hi, ladies,
I recently found your podcast and am binging out of order.

(29:00):
You mentioned sweet pickles. I didn't have the flash cards,
but there were books. There were animals that had all
different behaviors and personalities that started with the first letter
of their name, for example, accusing alligator, bashful bear, questioning quail,
and my personal favorite, worried Walrus. I had all the books,
I think, or most of them. My dad had voices

(29:23):
for most of the characters, gosh, all of them. They
went through my brothers, who are eleven and thirteen years
younger than I am, and then my son and I
passed them along to my niece and nephews. Anyhow, I'm
glad I found this podcast, and I hope you come
back soon with new episodes. We are we and hope
maybe you'll do this, do some Sweet Valley hot book,

(29:44):
maybe just some of this special edition one, since there's
so many yours un truly Kirsten.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Oh, Kirsten, welcome and thank you.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
I'm sure we've talked about it at different points, but
when we practiced for this pod eight years ag go,
we tried out some Sweet Valley.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
I was just gonna say that maybe in between now
and when Molly gets onboarded in January, we.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Could release a couple of those Oh my god, I
can't even imagine.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
I know we've teased it for so long. You guys
are so bad. They're bad. We didn't know how to
even talk into a mic, but it could be entertaining.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, that's fun.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
That's a like.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
I feel like it needs a like. Oooh yeah, yees
from the past kind of time warp situation.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
All right.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
My last letter is from Lauren. This is a new
listener from Canada. She says, hello, ladies. Growing up, I
was not a reader at all, being more into film
and television. I missed the whole Judy Bloom phase of
my life. My older sister, however, was an avid reader,
and when I was fifteen, in an effort to get
me reading, recommended I read Summer Sisters. I read it,

(31:00):
didn't leave much of an impression on me, didn't love it,
didn't hate it. I just didn't get it and welcome
back to that. Recently, I watched the film adaptation over
You There got it to Me Margaret, and found it
so wonderfully charming that I instantly fell down a Judy
Bluem rabbit hole. I decided to reread Summer Sisters, and
reading it as a thirty nine year old woman was

(31:21):
a whole different experience really affected me. After finishing the book,
I instantly went on the hunt for a podcast that
offered insightful discussions about it, and that's when I found you, gals.
I loved your coverage of it so much and would
like to offer my own opinion of the ending. I
believe Kaitlyn killed herself. Remember the suicide pack she tried
to make with vis Your mid twenties is the age

(31:44):
when you step outside of yourself, assess where you are,
where you want to be, and in many ways shed
your childish, childish skin. It's a real tipping point into
true adulthood. Caitlyn reached a point where the free spirited
drifter act wasn't cute anymore. Person who spoke more about
being a friend than actually being like one. So there's

(32:04):
no doubt in my mind that she committed suicide. She
only liked the idea of like reality. Failing to meet
your expectations left he grappling with profound despair. I have
so many more thoughts about this, but I will stop rambling.
Just wanted to let you ladies know that I enjoyed
your podcast so much that I started reading her other
books just so I can hear your thoughts on them.

(32:25):
So I guess I'm having my duty bloom face in
my late thirties and early forties that are late than never.
Your new Canadian fan, Lauren.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Pet I love this, Lauren, thank you so much. I
kind of want to go back and read Summer Sisters.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I do too, I think I think I have. I
do think it's like a every five years kind of book,
like you need some fresh perspective for it.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Yeah, I know bluemhad Becky famously reads it every year,
and I think it would be fun to reopen that
discussion in our private and free Facebook group and shout
out to all the bloomheads in our private and free
Facebook group who made us feel so happy and welcomed

(33:09):
us back and weren't mad at us. And thank you
listeners for writing letters. It's always so good to hear
from you, bloom Saloon at gmail dot com.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
I don't know that we have that much else to say,
but maybe a quick culture catchup anything you're you're loving
watching listening.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Yes, I did tell you this, but I'll tell the Bloomheads.
I'm watching Unreal, which came out like ten years ago,
but it's so good. Al And I know you told
me about it like way back when, and I just
never got around to watching it. But I'm I'm I'm
totally in it now if you don't know, unreal. It's
kind of a spoof drama comedy about the producers on

(33:54):
like a like a Bachelor type of show, and it's
called Everlasting. So good and just how like manipulative and
sadistic and flawed and wild they all are. I just
love what's your name? Cheery Applebee?

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Cheerie Applebee. Roswell, never forget I never.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Watched Roswell, but now I kind of want to watch
because I can't get enough of which. I think she's great,
She's captivating. Yes, agree, that's what I've been watching. Oh
and I just started this new show called Doghouse. I think.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Oh, I don't know that.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Shout out cat aptly named friend cat who told me
about dog House. It's a British show that follows dogs
that need to be adopted and the rescue organizations that
pair them with like the perfect new family. Oh Like,
it has a very calm, sweet British bakeoff vibe, Like

(34:52):
even the music and the production is very British bakeoff.
So I don't know, it's sweet and charming and highly recommended.
What about you, al, What do you watch when you're
feeding Ev?

Speaker 2 (35:08):
When I'm feeding EV, I usually just watch my phone.
But because I have been home the last six months,
we've watched a lot of TV. And we have watched
the now the first three seasons of Fargo Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
which we've been loving. I love it. I can't get enough.

(35:29):
And The Penguin, which both these things like gritty, dark television,
not my typical, but I have been loving it. I
loved The Penguin. I thought it was so fun, so good.
I can't recommend enough, such great acting, Colin Farrell, Christin
Melotte so good.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Do does one need to like know the lore?

Speaker 2 (35:55):
You just need to watch the most recent Batman movie
with Robert Pattinson, which is also very good. Turns out
I hadn't watched it, so I watched it right before
and I really enjoyed that.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Last night I did watch One Crazy Summer, not to
be confused with the the readA Williams Garcia and all
that great book about Delphine, Vonetta and Fern.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Yeah, so this is John Cusack and Demi Moore.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Yeah, and it's really bad, but it does take place
in Martha's v Oh, that's fun interesting. I was on
a like a John Hughes trying to watch all the
John Hughes films I hadn't seen, and for some reason
I thought One Crazy Summer was one of them. But
it is not.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
It's it's just John Cusack.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Yeah, but you know it's good that I did watch
for the first time, and I was surprised that it's good.
Is not another teen movie.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Oh, it's a great movie.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
I thought that was so funny.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
It's so good and has a great soundtrack because it's
all the pop punk bands singing the eighties songs and
Chris Evan's so cute. Yes, it's tanked top. I think
that's all we've got. But we'd love to hear from
you all. What do you watch it? What are you doing?

Speaker 3 (37:16):
We're not We're not done here.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
We've got a quiz.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
That's right, We've got a quiz because we wanted to
find out what our New Year's resolutions are. BuzzFeed style,
I can't wait to find out my resolution. Choose one
word to describe your twenty twenty four ooh okay, boring,
life changing, successful, challenging, chaotic, long, exciting or different.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
I'm going to pick life changing.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Yeah, I think that's right for you. Mine's pretty boring.
I know that's rude, but you know, speaking my truth?
Number two, Which of these things are you guilty of
doing the most? Being late in our walking, slowly, talking
during a movie, cracking knuckles, not replacing an empty toilet
paper role, littering oh no, or using the wrong for

(38:11):
your yo you.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Are I talk during my ese.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
I probably walking slowly.

Speaker 2 (38:26):

Speaker 3 (38:28):
I feel like I'm always just a step or two behind. Okay.
What percent of New Year's resolutions have you actually completed
in the past?

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Probably about ten percent.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
I would say twenty five for me. Which of these
areas do you want to work on the most in
twenty twenty five? Career or school finances, physical health, traveling,
family life, romance, friendships, or mental health.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
I'm trying to get my fiance is in the order.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
Ooh, same, same. Pick a vacation destination, beach, snowy mountain.
I know what you're gonna say, European sightseeing, cruise, treehouse city, nightlife,
road trip or spa.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
You think you know, but I think I'm gonna pick
treehouse because I've always want to say.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Okay, I'm gonna pick spox. Which anagram description fits you
the most? Do you know you're a n neogram?

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Yeah, I'm like a one and three.

Speaker 3 (39:36):
You're a loyalist, aren't you?

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (39:38):
I think so.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
In an achiever, I think I'm a chiever and enthusiast,
but a nogram expert friend of the Pod, Liz is
convinced I'm not an achiever. She thinks I'm the enthusiast,
so I trust her because she knows her shit.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
Okay, I'm gonna go on loyalist.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Okay, I'm doing enthusiast. What area of your house do
you spend the most amount of time in? I think
my living room or bedroom? I mean yeah, I mean
technically technically, I'm going to say bedroom. I'm going with
the technical here. Okay. Choose your least favorite school subject

(40:17):
English or reading, math, science, history, foreign language, computers? Is
that a class still? Uh? Or are yeah? This is
your least favorite? Mine's math, for sure.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
I think mine's Jim.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
Okay, take a superpower that you would want to use
right this second. Invisibility, flight, shape shifting, teleportation, super strength,
super speed. Why is that so big? In the in
the box reading minds or what water manipulation?

Speaker 4 (40:53):
What is.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
This is horror? I think teleportation just because of holiday travel,
I think reading minds. I think that's scary.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Though it is scary, but I want it.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
I admire that. Okay, last one, what category of items
fills up the majority of your holiday wish list? Clothes, technology, entertainment, home, shoes,
an accessories, food and beverage, travel or sentimental.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
I guess she's an accessories because I get a lot.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
I like jewelry this year, I would say home. Okay,
oh oh wait, oh this is such a litdown. Okay,
what's your what's your New Year's resolution?

Speaker 4 (41:53):
