Our videos will pop up on your feet, pop up

got greedy tonight. I got greedy tonight. I got a
one A, another one A one B, and I got

(00:51):
an honorable mention?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
All right, that's greedy, ain't it? Oh well whatever? So
actually I'm still.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Torn, So I'm a click first. Which one is gonna
be my one A?

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Whatever?

Speaker 2 (01:05):
All right, I'll go with one A. Anthony Gonzales days
eleven days until kickoff versus the wrong Horns in the
shoe Horns down, Baby, Anthony Gonzales. You see that the
Michigan Killer, you know, iconic catch on the road at
the Big Blouse against the team up north from Troy Smith.

(01:28):
He was a really really good receiver alongside Ted gin
in that two thousand and four, two thousand, two thousand
and six, you know, team great player. My one b
one of the best corners in Ohio state football history.
Not that big of a guy, but he packed the punch.

(01:48):
He'll hit you, and he was a great cover guy.
Antoine Winfield. In hindsight, if hindsight was twenty twenty, we
would have snatched his son up. But listen, you're living,
you learn. Great player, Antoine Winfield, great pro and college player.
And then my greedy honorable mention National champion von Bell.

(02:11):
We plucked him from Georgia down south, really really good
player here, and you know I had to give him
a shout out, honorable mention.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Just wanted to mention, Yvonne. I haven't heard your name
in a minute, so I wanted to show you some love.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
So yeah, all right, remember, super chaps, go to our
pay it forward, our military, our first responders. We're going
to take care of them because they take care of us,
you know, the drill Nevada. How you feel about my
greediness for eleven days left to the game.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Well, those are three great players, those three great players.
You know, you know, it's funny how each one of
them you have like an individual memory of I mean, Vaughn,
I remember, I believe, and again not my memories could
be faulted. And I'm pretty sure Vaughn was the guy
that intercepted it on the famous one where Lane Kiffin
was putting his hands up signifying touchdown because they thought

(03:06):
they had it and uh and Von Bell picked it
off and and turned it in that Alabama game, and
I thought that was a that was a great uh.
That was a great moment for the Buck guys. And
you know, you know, that was a recruiting battle that
came down to the last minute and got him, and
I think it was it was one of those good
news types of recruiting things and those late ones that

(03:27):
we didn't typically win. But yeah, Antoine Winfield, you know,
might be pound for pound, the hardest hitting guy that
we've ever had at Ohio State. And and he and
his son, that was wow, that was a miss, because
you know, it's one thing to say a miss when
some guy comes out of nowhere in the Middlewest, but
like we were calling for him to be offered, and

(03:47):
I just didn't understand why they didn't didn't take a
chance on him, and he took some other kids. When
when when Twine was such a great player, and then
Anthony Gonzales the congressman, Uh uh, I mean wow, yeah,
who would have said when he came to Ohio State.
I think he came as a defensive back, ended up
as a as a wide receiver. First round pick, first

(04:10):
round pick of the draft. And I remember when he
declared for the draft, some people were asking that. They
were acting like it was like it was a mistake,
you know, like, oh, what's he doing? You know, he's
just a possession guy.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
What it was.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And then he went in the first round, right, So yeah,
I mean, just uh, great player. But yeah, you get
the single digits. Man, it's gonna be really really tough
to kind of get these things picked out because we
got so many, so many great players to choose from them.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
We got some heat tomorrow, we got some heat. So
I'm really gonna get greet. I'm gonna have like five
or six, five or six cats up.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Here, Like I don't mention it.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
I don't know mention one seed one d But but nah, man.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
That's that's uh yeah, we're getting there.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
We are getting there, we're gonna blink and it's gonna
be Game week, and so, I mean, I'm excited. But
speaking of game week, we're going to get in to
the topic of the show, five reasons why Hoilo State
defeats Texas, And you know, I think we got some
pretty good reasons here. And before we get into it,

(05:16):
let me ask you Nevada and actually the Chat, let
me ask the Chat as well. I want your thoughts
on this before we get into this. If you've been
watching the national media and like the breakdowns and the
previews and all the other stuff, what is your read
on this game. Do you feel like it's slanted towards
Texas coming in here with big bad art to knock

(05:37):
out the revamped they lost too many guys buck Eyes,
or do you feel like it's, hey, how Stint's gonna
win this game.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Because they're at home or whatever.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
What's the narrative that's prevailed to you and your opinion
based off what you've heard Nevada and Chat.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Well, I mean, I mean, I'm honestly, I'm yet to
see a single person pick Ohio State to win the game,
despite Ohio State being favored in the games. I get
the who's picking on State to win the games the
guys in in Nevada, But I haven't. I don't think
I've seen a single analysis or single any person, you know,
calling for the buck guys to win. And it's it's

(06:16):
kind of interesting, you know, I I I think the
the thing with the quarterbacks is interesting because you know,
arch Manning obviously is getting a lot of run over
a couple of games he played last year against Louisiana
Monroe and and Mississippi State. Julian sayin's being discounted, and
I'll throw a third one in there. Just we had

(06:37):
some stuff on the message board today where people are
talking about how Michigan has solved their problem quarterback because
they've got Bryce Underwood, And I'm like, how do you
know he's the answer? You know what I'm saying, Like like,
you know, it's just kind of funny how people kind
of invent these narratives and it's like, oh, Bryce Edward's
gonna be great, Julian, you know, Julian saying is a
question mark and arch Manning's the savior. Well, we'll see,

(06:58):
I mean, you know, he might be. You know, you
and I are going to be there being I may
turn to you into the game and go, you know what,
that guy's the truth man, that guy's where But I mean,
don't I mean, I can't remember a game like this
being so big, where there were so many question marks
on both sides. I just don't have any idea what

(07:20):
we're going to see from Texas. I know what we're
going to see from Ohio State, and it's a super
talented team, but just green, you know, inexperienced, inexperienced coordinators.
Sometimes that can be good, sometimes that can break your benefit,
you know. But I don't know. But you asked to
directly answer your question. I have not seen a single person.
And maybe you can correct me if I'm wrong, if

(07:43):
there's somebody out there, but I haven't seen a single
person pick Ohio State in this game. And it seems
like the very chalky thing to say is Texas is
going to come to the arch man to take care
of business and Ohio State's really overvalued this year. That
seems to be the consensus.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
So, I mean, honestly, the only one of her Pickle
House State is Heather Dinach from ESPN, and I suspect,
you know, because they like you know how ESPN does,
and these shows they pit two analysts against each other
to debate and disagree, and her and Paul fine Bomb,
they're they're two that they love, you know, almost like uh,

(08:19):
Todd to Tod Todd and and your boyd the NFL guy.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Why do I forget his name?

Speaker 1 (08:24):
You know?

Speaker 2 (08:25):
The NFL draft analysts? I don't know Piper male Kiper
and Todd.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Do you know mel kiper eats a pumpkin pie every day?

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Are you serious?

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (08:37):
He looks like he eats a pumpkin pie every day,
every single I did not know that, but yeah, he
looks like this show like, think about all the knowledge
that you've gained from this show.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
You're like, you're gonna go to the Life to night.
You're gonna be like, do you know mel Kiper EA's
a pumpkin pie every single thing? She's like, I did,
I had no idea, And you're like, yeah, I'm dropping
some olige on you right now.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
I can just see her just putting the cover over
her face and turning the opposite way, like go to bed,
all right, whatever, back to scrolling.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
But that's hilarious. But yes, they're gonna pick you know,
the top Mickshay's and the Male Kuipers and the Heather
Dniches and the Paul Fine Bombs. So obviously Paul Fine
Bomb hates Ohio State this year. You know, we're overrated.
We don't belong that high. We lost too much, you know.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
So Heather's the only one I've heard from like a
big network say that. But yes, it's been mostly Texas,
Arch Manning. You know, who's gonna.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Start for a hoile State. We know that now, but
that's kind of been the narrative. And we've lost so much.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
And so again, both teams have lost a lot. And
Arch is not returning after playing a whole season, you know,
in tough games. So he had this is new for him.
He's a great player. I think he's a really great player.
And and I'm not saying he can come in here
and do well. I'm just saying we haven't seen it.

(10:04):
So yes, saying is a new starter, we need to
see him. But Arch has not seen anything like this. Okay,
We've got to keep.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
That in mind.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
They also lost some guys and then also looking at
the Buckeye school Board, funky updated is it looks like
they're dinged up again.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
On the old line.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
They've got like a few injuries on the O line,
and so you know, and I mean again not rooting
for injuries, but is that.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Going to be an issue?

Speaker 2 (10:30):
I don't know about I say, you got off mute.
Did you want to say something about that? Because to me,
that's another question mark.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Well now I think you know, I think for for Texas,
you know, it's it's they're getting a lot of hype.
They're getting a lot of love for being number one.
But I think it really has to do with the
fact that there this isn't a super team this year.
So I think they're you know, I'm not saying the
tallest midget in the land, but you know, there's just
not an experienced team with experienced quarterback you know, uther

(11:00):
not defense or you know, explosive players on offense. You know,
up and down, every team's got question marks. And I
guess people just determined that Texas has got fewer texts,
you know, question marks at Ohio State does. But I mean,
this was the Texas team that we beat in the
College Football Playoff last year. Obviously, you know, good game
came down to the end, made made some plays and

(11:21):
and this, but you know. I also I feel like
that was a game that that could have gotten away
from Texas earlier. We could have, you know, had you know,
Trey Henderson not inexplicably done something that was very unentrede like.
So yeah, I love the fact that there's so many questions,
and I love kind of the intrigue of the game

(11:42):
because you know, last year, we knew pretty much what
we're going to get to the buck eys. You know,
everybody was pretty much established on both sides of the ball.
This year, man, there's so much upside. So we're going
to see so much greatness and we're going to see
so much inexperience at the same time. So I I
can't wait for them put the ball ty and kick

(12:02):
it and get it gone because we'll know a lot
more about three thirty in the afternoon. I'm the thirtieth
for sure.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
And the more I hear the coaches talk about Julian Saying,
especially the defensive coaches, just as a side note before
we get into the list, it gets me more excited Nevada.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Just you know, it's like you know, how you know something,
It's like, you know, Julian Saying is good, he has
the pedigree. Everything leading up to this point.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Is like, yeah, he's good, and the coaches like him
on offense, but I'm hearing more and more from the
defensive coaches. I was listening to O G wat Og
Triple O G Walk in the Press of Today, and
he was just talking about how, hey, he makes all
the throws, he gives us all the looks, and so
it's like nobody on the coaching staff is like they

(12:52):
gush about his arm talent. And so in another really
quick side note in my chat one of my group chats,
somebody sent.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
A old tape of his high school.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
High school tape where the announcers were calling him the
number two or number one dual threat QB in the country,
and they showed his highlights and like I said, I've
been telling y'all, he's not slow. He's not a statue. Okay,
he can move. I was at the practice pocket broke.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Down, he took off, picked up a first down with
those legs, and he looked spry.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Okay, he's not a statue, y'all. But going back to
high school, I mean this kid was, I mean he
was slashing and cutting and breaking tackles. And carrying piles.
I'll kid you not like he was looking like an
athlete out there. Again, I'm not saying he's Braxton Miller.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
I'm not saying he's JT.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Barrett.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Those kids are incredible rushers. I'm just saying Julian's saying
is not a statue. So I'm excited about saying I
just wanted to say that. But we can go ahead
and get into the list. You want to react to
that before we hop in.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Well, I mean, I've seen Juliane play a ton of
times in high school and I seen him rush multiple
times for one hundred yards in games. So like this
is this is a guy who can absolutely run. Whether
they're going to be choosing to feature, you know, that
aspect of his game, but yeah, he's the furthest thing
away from being in mobile and you know, I'm not
sure he's arch manning with his legs, but he's an

(14:18):
opportunistic runner and they present that to him, he'll take
advantage of it, for sure.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
And just to kind of paint the picture a little
clearer for y'all, and then we'll move on. Is that
we're not saying there's gonna be a bunch of Q
powers and Q draws and stuff like that. It's more
of a pocket breaks down. He can leak out and
pick up some yards and stay ahead of schedule. If
if we roll him out, okay, with an option to

(14:44):
look downfield, but there's nothing there, he can pick up
a few yards or or like burn a defense if
their backs are turning man defense.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
He's dangerous.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
And from that standpoint, if he has the athleticism to
to hurt you in a way that you're expecting because
you don't look at him as a running quarterback, he's
plenty athletic to do that. So I just wanted to
because I think there's there's some misconceptions about him out there,
and obviously Lincoln is the better athlete. He's a freak.
He's bigger, stronger, faster, but saying is not a bum

(15:16):
with those legs, that's the point. So I wanted to
hit that, really hit that home Nevada.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yeah. No, I've said many times that he reminds me
of a young Aaron Rodgers in terms of the way
that he runs and the way that Rogers used to run.
And if you remember Rogers in college at cal he
used to killd teams on the ground and and did
it in the NFL first ten years. You know, he
would get that move around in the pocket, pocket, break
down and take off and burn burn things.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
You know.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
I think Julian runs the same way, plays the approaches
the game in the same manner, and I think we'll
get the same things out of them here at Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
You know what, you know what I miss about Rogers?
You know what commercial I miss Nevada.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
The just got double Chuck Roger.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Yes, Jack, Yes, I used to like those commercials.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Those were those were those were classics. Man, those were great. Yeah,
I'm not sure if I think those those commercials are
still good, but they're not quite as for me. Just
but I'm a Rogers Stan. I've always been a Rogers Stan.
I always thought here's gonna have a Packers Fans live
in a super Bowl of the Packers and think he's
the best pure thrower of the game, you know, baby's

(16:25):
ever seen. But but I but I digress. I'm excited
about you Onlian saying I can't believe we got him
at Ohio State. I mean to have seen him from
high school and when he committed to Alabama. You know,
I saw him at the on Liege eleven at Mirier
Coast High School, and then see him at commit to
Alabama and You're like, oh man, and then all of
a sudden he transfers to Ohio State and I'm like, wow,
this is like Christmas Day for me, so very very

(16:47):
excited to see him. Ply.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yeah, and we've got a pretty good track record with
the lead eleven quarterbacks here at Ohio State, so no doubt.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Yeah. Yeah, I'm excited to see to see Julian play.
So let's get into it.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Let's get into it in Nevada, Buck, You, sir, are
going to kick it off with I guess, I guess
do you want to go backwards?

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Five to one?

Speaker 1 (17:09):
I think five to one? Yeah, five to one's like
the number one reason. This is the number one the
number five reason that I think Ohio State beats Texas.
I'm going to go with the much maligned offensive line
for Ohio State. I think the offensive line for Ohio
State last year in the in the National Championship run
were just instrumental. I mean, they kept Will Howard clean.

(17:32):
They were able to create holes for Trivion and for
quinnch On to run. Really think about those games. You know,
we I mean offensively, we pretty much did what we
wanted to do. We certainly did that against Oregon, put
on a clinic against Tennessee, were never stopped and Texas
probably did the best job of anybody stopping us. In
the Notre Dame, we ran it up and down the

(17:54):
field and those guys, you know, short of an untimely
a mecha fumble, that game probably ends twenty one point
spread or twenty eight point spread. But we certainly didn't
lack for points in the National Championship game. And I
think a lot of that came right right up front
for the offensive line. And you know, you were turning
four starters off that offensive line that lined up against

(18:14):
Notre Dame for the National Championship or you three and
a half or whatever you want to call it. But
for your four guys that played a lot in that game,
and I just I think that they're going to do
work against Texas. They're you know, they're a year older,
they're bigger, stronger, and they're certainly experienced their their game experience,
their seasoned, and I think they're being undervalue. I think

(18:36):
they're being overlooked by a lot of people. I think
they're taking it personally. I think when you talk to
those guys, this game is a statement game for them.
We talked about the Texas guys kind of putting a
target on on Julian saying and kind of, you know,
calling them out subtly in terms of that. But I
think just the national disrespect that the offensive line has gotten.
It has been noted, It's been noted by by Tddler Bowen,

(18:58):
It's been noted by the other line coaches, and I
think the guys are going to try to go out
and make a statement on August thirtieth the Texas and
the rest of the college football world that will such
offensive line is here to play. So I'm gonna say
that's the number five reason why the Buckeyes win is
the is an an experience and it's surprisingly experienced or
issue offensive line.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
And I think and what we're going to see and
be revealed as a continuation a nasty, mauling offensive line.
I'm excited about this offensive line. I'm not going to
go on my usual rant about it. Y'all know I
love the potential of this offensive line. But real quick,
your boy Montgomery, I'm sorry McDonald Kate McDonald in an interview.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
He's a great.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Interview by the way. I don't know if you ever
heard him be interviewed. I love him as an interview. Also,
Philip Daniels is a great interview as well.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
You talk about confident and just like just give you
that look, like, man, what you mean, I'm a dog
like that type of look. But with McDonald, he was
asked in.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
The presser, look Montgomery Montgomery.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Uh no, Philip Daniels said.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
McDonald said, yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yeah, I messed up. I mean, I'm Caden McDonald, the
defensive tackle.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
K Okay, okay, Caden McDonald, Okay, yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
McDonald, Yeah, my bad, My bad. So he was asking
his his one on one presser the other day. He said, so,
who stands out of the offensive line? He was like,
he cut them off, like all of them, he said,
all of them. It is the best gold line in
the country. You know, he's a big boy from Georgia.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
And that cracked me up when he said that, because
he was not playing, and he didn't even give him
a chance really almost to finish his question. And so,
and of course you know, teammates took him big each
other up and all that but I really believed what
like when he said that, like, I believe him.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
I just wanted us to put that out there.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
From a defensive tackle that goes up against him every day,
his excitement for how good those boys in the old
line are Nevada.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
I mean players know who the players are. And yeah,
coming from the big dog Cayden, that's definitely uh, that's
definitely high praise. And but I mean just I mean,
you just took common sense.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Man.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
You had four guys that played a ton for the
national champion last year. How is that offensive line not
gonna be good this year? I mean, riddle me that.
I don't understand that. They don't understand it. The staff
is understand but they're playing it up big time with them.
They're playing the disrespecting big time with them. So we'll
see if they can go and get it done.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
And there's the big fellow right there looking nasty and hungry,
so you go eat Coombridge.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
That's what I'm talking about. So yeah, that was dope.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
So I'll go with number four and my number four
reason is too many weapons from Ohio State led by
Jeremiah Smith. Two many weapons for this Texas defense again, y'all,
I know the highlight of Simmons. Simmons is back.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
He's an All American, All World first round pick defensive end. Okay,
he's awesome.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Their linebacker. I think his last name is Hill, right, Nevada.
He's really really good. But they replaced some guys on
defense as well, just like we replaced guys. So in
the shoe, Julian's saying, who processes quickly, who's very accurate,
has a great quick release, and you.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Got just imagine, let's just let's just picture. Let's just
paint the picture here.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Okay, you got peoples in the backfield, you got Jeremiah
Smith out there, Brandon Innis in the slot.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Let's say Max Claire, I.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Don't know, pick a set, whatever, it doesn't matter in
Carnell Tate or you know whatever, just who you can
try to key in on JJ Smith. Fine, but if
you got Claire down the scene mash up against a linebacker,
you got Tate mashed up against maybe their second or
third best corner, you know, and in the slot against

(22:54):
one of their weaker guys. To me, yes, they play
his own defense, but that's a lot to handle. And
so just from a weapon standpoint, I think it's going
to be too much at home in the shoe to
overcome for Texas.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
So that is my number four for wild House State
wins this game.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
What you've gotten about it, well, I think it's a
great it's a great point. And I you know, I
think having a tight end like Max Claire, I mean,
I just think that that's such a delta because when
you look at like, well, what's the difference between this,
ohiose that offense and years gone by and we can
talk about Julien Saint's arm talent or the experience of

(23:35):
the O line or you know, the deepest wide receiver
room that we've ever had J J. Smith, a generational,
you know, once in a lifetime type of talent. But
having a tight end like Max Player, man, that's something
that I don't know if we've ever had something like that.
And I think that changes everything. And I completely agree
with you. I think it changes the calculus for other

(23:56):
teams about how they have to defend us, you know,
because you know, you talk talked about teams that have
the great tight ends like Georgia or you know whatever,
the rock Bowder Michigan and they had love one, but
they didn't have wide receivers, you know what I'm saying,
Like they didn't have the other guys that go over
with the mean We've got the full compliment of guys,
and it's crazy. So to have a an additional weapon

(24:19):
like that on top of those other abundance of weapons. Man,
I'm I'm I can't wait to see it. I cannot
wait to see it. And uh and Max and Julian
have got that kind of connection there, So I think
those guys they just they just know where they're going
to be and and then Julian knows how to deliver
the ball the tight end down that seam. And and

(24:40):
that's I didn't ask me problematic for Texas all night long.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
Yes, and real quick, I'm going to add this on
before we go to another three Nevada because we're talking
about weapons and I want to give the tight end
room some love because again, y'all, Max Claar, he's the
he's the guy. Now real quick, Ryan Day in his interview,
I'm gonna ask you a quick question before I go
on and to my spiel. Can you remember anytime that

(25:05):
any of our coaches referred to their tight end as
explosive no matter, no, no, yeah, I agree. That's what
Ryan they said about Max Clair the presser. He said
he's explosive with the ball in his hands like that.
To me when he said that, I'm just like, did

(25:25):
y'all hear that?

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Now? We know he's really good, but you don't. We
don't say that. We did.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
We love the farm boy, Kate Stover, that's my dude,
loved Kate Stover. But you never heard Ryan Day said
Kate Stover is explosive with the ball in his hands.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
He's never said that.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
So I'm just trying to paint the picture of the
weapon that Max Claire is. But going back to the
tight endroom because to me, a weapon, yes, you think
about explosiveness, you know, game breakers weapons, but to me,
a weapon can also be a guy when we go
twelve personnel that you can get in there and really
open up the holes in the run, but also be

(26:07):
versatile enough to keep the defense guessing on if you're
going to leak out or not, and be a receiver.
And you know, listen, your boy Jenlani Thurman has come on.
He's had a good camp and he's always been good
catching the ball in general.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
As his career.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
I'm saying here he has some issues. He was for
whatever reason, he had the yips, and remember the one
play against Pence, they took him five times to catch
the ball. But he started to clean that up. But
his blocking was the issue when he came in here.
But towards the end of the season he was really
really good in heavy sets out there blocking. He's a
big guy, he's a leader, he can catch the ball.

(26:45):
He's a matchup problem as well. And then, of course
I told you on my write up a few weeks
ago the guy who popped out to me and I
always reverse his name. Remember Anderson Russell the Safety of People,
and Terrell Price used to call him Russell Andrewson. Bennett
Christian has one of those names. Christian Bennett Bennett Christian.
He has one of those names. But now it's funny

(27:07):
to real prior and the interviews like Russell Anderson, you
do know how to real priory talk. But anyway, but
Bennett Christian is a monster out there. I mean, he
looks the part. He makes you feel him as a blocker, he.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Had you saw him catch a nice touchdown pass from
saying last year it was garbage time. But it was
still a big guy, feathery soft hands. He scored, and
then I'm not even mentioning kas Merik, who's a very
good bruising blocker.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
So I wanted to take some time to give some
love to our tight end room once again, because to me,
those are all weapons, because in twelve personnel or even
just heavy looks, I'm excited to see those guys aid
the run game to open up holes and and to
be able to punch it in the red zone and
just pick up and just basically make the defense wonder

(27:58):
and match up with that twelve personnel. But then we
have the weapons on the outside and at the tight
end position to still make you paying those heavy looks.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
About him, Well, yeah, I mean it it used to
be when we went to the multiple tight end look,
it was we were really hindering our offense in my opinion,
you know what I'm saying, because we're putting guys out
there that you know, weren't weren't explosive, or weren't you know,
you know, they didn't have those premium skills. But every
one of the guys you talked about has a premium
skill set. And you know, I mean Kasmeric may be

(28:27):
one of the keys to our running game. I mean,
he's that good and that impactful. And talk about a
guy that flew under the radar and did things, you know,
you know, without fanfare. And we talked about you know,
those players that were on the field a lot more
than you remembered, like Caden McDonald or Lorenzo Styles Junior.
So well, kas Merrick was a guy that didn't get

(28:49):
much attention, but man, he threw some huge blocks for us.
So when you're going twelve personnel and you're going Casmerican
Claire or Kasmerican Thurman or whatever it is, that's that's
gonna be an interesting, you know challenge for the defense
to try and you know, line that stuff up and
do that because I really like our tight end run

(29:09):
and that that is absolutely a one eighty degree turn
for me from years gone by, because I felt it
was probably the weakest room on the team by far,
and now it's a team strength and that's uh, you know,
that's really attribute to the staff and you know, they
they've really beeted that up and done a nice job
with that.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Yeah, and I know others have tried to pooh pooh kasmeric.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
You know, but he's a great player. He is a
great player.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
The staff missed Kasmeric.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Ryan Day even talked about it when he was injured
for a few games last year.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
He was missed. And so you go watch film.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
I think people because he wasn't catching a bunch of balls,
they really weren't watching. Go back and watch when he
was playing. Now he at first, he wasn't as active
at first. He started coming on through the season. You
could see him.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
He was very good.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
So this tight end room, those are weapons to me
as well as as far as in the run game
and being able to be effective in the past game
and have explosiveness.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
But Nevada what you got for number three?

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Brothers, I'm gonna go number three. I'm gonna go. Ryan
Day greater than Steve Sharkuzian. You've got a head coaching
advantage where you've got a coach coming off a national championship,
slaid a lot of dragons, silenced a lot of doubt,
probably silenced a lot of voices in his own head
about how he needs to go out there and approach

(30:34):
the game. And you know, did it the toughest way
possible for four games, the toughest stretch that any team's
ever played in the history of college football. Won them all,
Handling won them all by double digits, and look Sarkisian's
a terrific offense of mine in a terfect challenge. But
I just think Day's next level, especially the new and

(30:56):
improved Ryan Day. Ryan's different. You can tell him in
the press conference. He carries himself differently. There used to
be a little antsyiness about him, a little nervous tick
that you'd kind of get from him, and I'm not
getting that anymore. I'm getting this is a guy who
is taking a ten thousand pound grill off his back,
and I think we're gonna be really gonna be the

(31:18):
benefactors that all season long, but certainly in the big games,
certainly in a game like this where it's a one
versus two or one versus three, or whatever you want
to call it. But I think the head coaching advantage
Ryan Dale over Trakesian is going to be a reason
number three why the Buckeyes defeat Texas.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Yeah, that's a good one. That's a really really good one, man,
And it's not even shade to sark I think he
starts a really good coach. But let me ask a question,
just just to be real, y'all, what's the last big
game that Sark has won.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
I'm talking about big game, you know, like I don't know.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
I mean, I guess you could say Arizona State in
the playoffs because it's a playoff game, but I'm talking
about and they barely they barely won that. Yeah, right,
I thought it was over, Like, I mean, that was
crazy and so and and again no disrespect, but rewatching
that Texas game like I had. You're absolutely correct that

(32:16):
the the Trey Henderson played where he just I mean,
obviously we're not banging on trade. He made up for it,
but it was a very out of character Trey Henderson
moved and to me, you go back and watch that game.
Literally everything started to slide from that point to where
Texas got momentum and we were we were driving and
we were moving the ball pretty easily up.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Until that point.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
But anyway, the point is what big game has sarked
one recently?

Speaker 3 (32:41):
He has to come into the shoe.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
And yes, I've been saying for months that Ryan Day
has that Bruce Leroy glow. Now after getting that monkey
off his back, you could tell the way he's he's
got he's got more you know, glide in his slide.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
He's got more, you know, more juice. You can see
it and fill it. And so I agree.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
I think that's a great, great call out with Ryan Day,
and I think he's motivated to win this game and
really really discontinue to prove that, you know, that season
was not a fluke, not that he thinks is a fluke,
but you know, just to continue and say, listen, we're
still here basically.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
So that's great, man, that's a great pick. You got
anything on that before.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
We move on? Well, No, I just I just think
that I don't think people can really appreciate what a
pressure cooker. I mean, I think people know it intuitively
that it's a pressure cooker, but man, the weight of
expectations at Ohio State just weighs these coaches down. Man,
I'm telling you, it steals their soul. And you know,
I know that our fan base has high expectations and

(33:44):
that's great, but it's hard of the coaches. It's hard
on their families, it's hard on everybody around them. And
you know, for Ryan to have won a national championship,
I just think it allows him to be himself, and
I think we're going to get to see the best
of Ryan Day now going forward, because he's you know,
he's he's slayed the dragon of the best coach to

(34:07):
never win a national championship, you know, and now it's
just about his legacy. How many is he gonna win?
But he won one, so he's forever on that pantheon
of great So I'm happy for him, but I'm really
happy for us as as fanswers. We're gonna get a
treat to be able to see a more relaxed Ryan
Day coaching of these big games.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
And one last thing before we move on to number
two is that, yeah, man, I can't say it enough
about Ryan Day and his characters and those who are
around him, from coaches, players, they love this man.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
You know.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Listen, Urban was respected and he's a great coach, and
I listen, I'm forever going to rock with Urban Meyer.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
But he was a little prickly. He was a little
you know.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
And I'm not saying you have to always like your coach,
but to be able to win a national championship and
command respect but also have the love that Ryan Day
has from his coaching staff, and from his players, and
especially after the storm of all storms for a coach
that he had to navigate through with all this mess

(35:15):
he's endured, you know, with the Michigan scandal, who was
absolutely found guilty of cheating, regardless of the lack of
competency from the COI.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
But that's another part.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Everything he went through, bounce back from got off the mat,
everything he preaches and preached he did. And so my
respect for him is just at such a high level
and I'm grateful as a Buckeye fan that we have him.
And I'll tell you what these other coaches, I mean,
I'm sorry these other fan bases.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
You hear them talk.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
They wish they had a coach like Ryan Day. They
wish they did. So we're very very fortunate. I just
wanted to say that before we move on to about him.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Yeah, I mean, they don't understand. You ask other fan bases,
they absolutely do not understand and why people have been
so down on him. But you know, and now I
hope that everybody's on on the train, and I hope
that that can equate yourself to people kind of give
the staff a little bit of grace and have a

(36:15):
little bit of confidence when we lose on a recruit
or whatever, that the sky is not fallowing. The Randy's
got this well in hand. I hope he's earned that.
I hope people can sit back and relax and enjoy
the fact that we're the defending national champions as well.
So all hail Ryan Day as as far as I'm concerned.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Yeah, and real quick, another quick thing before we go
to number two Nevada. I don't know if the chat
is asking when is the last time we've lost a
home opener?

Speaker 3 (36:44):
And I'm racking my brain over that, like, can you recall?

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Oh, man, I'm trying to think, I mean home opener
a loss. So I guess maybe somebody asks AI asked
Rock or something like that. I guess Rock to be
able to tell us pretty quickly. But I can't recall
when we've lost a home opener. But typically that's because
those home openers have been Akron and Toledo and Toledo
and yeah, whatever it was, I mean, you know, yeah, but.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
We did have Notre Dame coming here a few years
ago in a big game, a big one, and then
there was another one. I'm trying to think who it was.
But yeah, typically it's not a home opener, it's like
week two or three or whatever. So good questions still nonetheless,
but but yeah, I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Man. I think our boys are going to be ready
despite what the media is saying. So it's all good.
But let's go ahead and slide into number two. So
my number two old on.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
The answer was the answer was nineteen seventy eight when
we lost to Penn State.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Are you serious? Seventy eight when.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Arch Schleister started. That's when arch Schleister started that first game,
and it.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Was a wow.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Yeah, it was antime nineteen to zero. That was a sleister,
didn't didn't those freshman quarterbacks? Man sometimes the far time
I ran right off the bat right there. Yeah, but yeah,
nineteen seventy eight, that was the last time.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
So I was not born.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
Wow, I know Moses. The world was world was was
a sadder place without be Moses, and it man.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
I was floating on the clouds looking down waiting ride.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Dude. I was sixteen years old and to listen to
the game because the game wasn't This wasn't like the
good old days where every game is on television and
stuff like that. I lived out in California, and I
found the game on some like obscure radio station and
I listened to the game in my car, in my ship,
my Chevy Momza. I listened to the game on an

(38:50):
AM radio station from like Debute or something like that,
and it was just horrible, you know, like nineteen nothing.
And they're like, oh, man, this is gonna be a
long year.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
You know what I just pictured, man, like an old
school you know, back to the future where Biff and
his grandpa sitting in the car and he's trying to
tell him about the almanac.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
This is what this is, what this is.

Speaker 1 (39:10):
This is gonna have the great sports Almanac. Man, That's
where I needed it then, like.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Your butt head just listened.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
But anyway, all right, so number two, I've got Caleb
Downs and this defense number two, I'm saying I'm leading
with Caleb Downs because he's going to be an integral point.
He is going to be the cog how we line
him up in that nickel slot spot position as sort

(39:41):
of again we refer back to the Tennessee game last
year where he was sort of a hybrid mic linebacker slash.
I mean, he was able to kind of play center
field come up on the run and be able to
drop back and defend the past.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
I mean, he was all over the place.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
We're going to see a version of that from Patricia
with Caleb Downs being able to keep arch Manning in
check and also to keep the the RPOs and quick
passing game and check, you know, with throws over the middle,
you know, the tight ends and running backs out of
the backfield, and so our defense first of all Caleb. Secondly,

(40:21):
the guys we have that are just athletic freaks, the reeses,
the sunny styles.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
CJ.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Hicks, who has been the multiple old linemen have called
him out and fall camp about how he's a tough cover,
a tough block. Okay, he's stronger than you think. He's
obviously fast, and so we got some guys who will
be able to run sideline the sideline, but also be
able to track Manning down because one thing I did

(40:49):
see about Manning Nevada when I was rewatching him is yes,
he's athletic, but he's not a very He's not a
great east to west at fleet, meaning he's not going
to he'll have to find a crease like he's better
if he can cut and find a crease, and he
has a really good speed to hit that crease and

(41:11):
he'll kill you that way. But when he's up against
another athlete and they're in they're mirroring each other. He's
going down the east and west line. He's not as quick,
he's not as shifty from what I saw, and so
our fast athletes will be able to track him down
side on the sideline and get after him. But then

(41:31):
also what we've been saying about matted Patricia I'm excited
about is Sark doesn't know exactly what Patricia's gonna pull out.
He knows the sort of the principles we have schematically
from a defensive standpoint. He knows that we're not going
to completely abandon that. But there'll be so much eye candy,
There'll be so much you know, where are they coming from?

(41:54):
Where are they lining up? You know, we talked about
the wide nines and different things within the Prince of
our scheme that it's going to be hard to really
determine what are they doing, where are they coming from,
because there's no film on it. And so I think
that's an advantage and I think Patricia is going to
be in his bag with our athletes, and so my

(42:15):
number two Caleb Downs, a Caleb Downs led defense with
a Patricia scheme to me, is the number two reason.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
Why we beat the wrong Horns.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
I like it. I mean I like it. I like
I love the team's speed, you know, for the team
in general, but for the defense in particular. I think
our defensive secondary is you know, it's i mean just
you know, super super aggressive, supports the run well, but

(42:48):
can cover the path. I think Davison's done a better
job and fall at least as not being so handsy.
So I don't think he's going to be as quite
as an automatic pass interference it was last year. Now,
you know, say it doesn't get an another fifteen penalties
or whatever it is, But no, I agree with you.

(43:08):
I think I think Matt Patricia is really gonna come
out swing. And I think, you know, if you say which,
which one of the coordinators is going to come out
and be able to you know, elevate and do a
better job right off the bat. For me, it's gonna
be Patricia. You're talking about a guy who's been an
NFL head coach, NFL defensive coording in the NFL off
the cornder, the only guy in the history of the

(43:29):
world to ever do all three of those jobs. And
I really think he's going to have some stuff for
arch Manning. And he's got a lot of weapons to
play with him. He's got a super talented, super fast
Ohio State defense, and I think they're going to really
feature their speed. You know, this is a This isn't
a bulk defense. This is a speedy defense. And so

(43:50):
when you're trying to spy a running quarterback or you know,
a quarterback that like to use his legs, yeah, you
want to have fast linebackers, fast aggressive defensive back, and
a active defensive front. And that's exactly what we've got.
So I think we've got the weapons to confound arch
Manning in Texas, and I think we've got the coordinators,
got the experience field to do it as well. So

(44:11):
I think that's a great call, Thank.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
You, sir.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
And yeah, and just real quick about Patricia, because I
know we got two new coordinators, like holl Stakes breaking
in two new coordinators. But to me to your point, Nevada,
I don't think that's accurate to say two new coordinators
in the sense that Brian Hartline this is this will
be his first time calling a play in a game.
Matt Patricia has done this like I could see if
it was going from college to NFL, where it's like, okay,

(44:36):
this is another level. He's been in the NFL calling
plays for super Bowl teams and he's going down to
college football. So me personally, even though there's a newness
to it, a new environment so to speak, I don't
I'm not concerned with him. For those who are concerned,
like how you know, Like, to me, it's like, okay,

(44:56):
it's it's he's done this in the NFL, like he
he knows this, He's a veteran. I'm not concerned about,
you know, the day being too big for Matt Patricia
to call plays and adjust and scheme and all the
other stuff.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
What you got on that. No, I think it's a
great point, you know. I think that his newness is
only that it's a new defensive system, and it's a
defensive system that is going to look very different. We've
talked about sports going to look very different than what
Jen Oles was doing. So you know, from that standpoint there,
you always have the little bit of trepidation, you know,
when you're breaking in something new like that, but from

(45:32):
an experience standpoint, you're talking about a multiple Super Bowl winner,
a guy that sat in that chair, made the calls,
you know, match switch with the best offensive minds in
the world at the NFL levels. So yeah, the moment
certainly won't be too big with him, and he's not
going to see anything that he hasn't seen before, and
he'll have around sure.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
Exactly exactly, that's a great summary. The moment would not
be too big. Trust me, nothing is bigger than the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
And so just saying we.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
Love our buck Eyes and high state football is king,
but we're talking about super Bowls, all right.

Speaker 3 (46:09):
So anyway, all right, let's get to the number one Nevada.
What is the number one on the list?

Speaker 1 (46:14):
What you got? Number one? Reason is home game? Ohigh
State crowd. I don't think people realized last year, you know,
last year's game against Texas, you know, you know, portrayed
as a neutral site game down and Jerry World, definitely
not a neutral site game. That was essentially a home
game for Texas, and you know, the crowd was eighty

(46:34):
five Texas fans. Huge edge for them, huge crowd edge,
huge emotional edge. And we still went on to win
by by two touchdowns. The this game will have I
just feel like it's got extra juice. You know, not
that you need any extra juice for a home opener

(46:55):
after national championship, but the eyes of the college football
world to gave me on it. It's a number, You're
playing the number one team in the country. I mean,
it's just it's got all the elements. And I think
for Ohio State, you know, I've seen crowds at Ohio
State take games over before, you know, and and just
kind of will the team to victory and make it

(47:16):
exceedingly difficult for the the opposition to operate. And you know,
I think what, you know, what can hold that back
is you know, if it's you know, I hate it
even saying stuff like this, but this is real. You know.
Is it too hot, is it too cold? Is it
too windy? You know, are we overlooking the opponent? You know,

(47:37):
whatever it is, none of those elements are going to
be there. Man, It's gonna be pretty weather, It's going
to be a perfect day. And I just think that
Ohios the fans are going to bring it. I think
Ohios the fans are going to bring the house. I
think they're They're ready to let up some of that
anxiety that they've been feeling during the off season about
other you know, other noise out there. They're ready to

(47:59):
take it out on a team in the opposing jersey
and really make it difficult for Texas to call plays.
And uh, you know, really, I mean, you can make
a difference, man, you can make a difference for the guys.
The guys always talked about feeding off the energy of
the crowd and doing that, and I think the Ohio
State home crowd in that situation, I think it affects everything.

(48:20):
I think it affects the officials. I think it affects
you know, the you know, the the play calling on
the opposing sideline. I think you can rattle the other team.
And I don't think Texas has ever played quite an
environment like this one before. An arch Maning certainly hads
And so I'm gonna say Ohio State crowd home field
advantage number one reason why I have to say it

(48:41):
wins that game.

Speaker 2 (48:42):
Yep, great call, great, great call. We've been pounding this
drum for the past few weeks about the crowd again.
I'm an advocate for the crowd, you know, and listen
just to remind you, because I know for the crowd
for the Ohio State noon game, crowd bashers.

Speaker 3 (48:56):
And again, listen, I know some of our new games
are this is not Tulsa.

Speaker 2 (49:02):
Okay, this is not you know, Central Michigan at noon
on Big ten Network. Okay, this is Texas. And so
again there's been what three or four players from schools
that have shouted out the Shoe, not Penn State, not Wisconsin,
but the Shoe as the loudest, most intimidating environment. You

(49:22):
got your boy Dylan Royola, you got the lineman from Indiana.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
And who is the other kid? I can't remember. Was
it Produe, I forget where you think it was a
kid from Purdue? I don't know. But this is in
the off season where they were asked about.

Speaker 2 (49:37):
The loudest stadiums. The Shoe can and will get loud, y'all.
I think a lot of it has to do with
the opponent. Now listen, no excuse we should be loud
every game, but we're human. You know, Tulsa is just
not gonna be the same juice. This crowd will be
ready for Texas and arch Manning coming in there. And
I keep looking at my phone Nevada to see if

(50:00):
the you know, there's usually like a ten day out
and we're not quite in that window for the weather.
You know, I'm just just curious to see what it's
looking like with the weather. But it's not quite there,
you know, nothing accurate. But either way, like, man, yes
it's gonna be hot, but come on, man, like we'll
be fine. The players ain't thinking about that. They'll be

(50:21):
hydrated and all that other stuff. Get after it and
be crazy. I want the TV screen. I wanted to
just be shaken, like, I just wanted to be like, man,
we sound nasty and ferocious out there now going back
to what we said and about them. When you remember
you asked me the other day would you rather defer
or take the ball? So just imagine, okay, because to me,

(50:44):
working in concert with the team and the crowd, this
to me is the perfect scenario. We win the toss,
we defer, and we get a free and out okay,
and it results in a sack, you know, like a
third and seventeen sack, and then of course they don't

(51:05):
pick up the fourth down they got a punt. Crowd
is crazy, like a like all over it. And then
our boy, Julia saying, trots out there with the offense.
We drive downfield and you know, Jeremiah Smith scores on
a fade route and.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
It's just bananas. Were up seven to zero, and that's
the start of the game. To me, that is the
perfect scenario to start this game and get rolling what
you got, Well, I.

Speaker 1 (51:32):
Was gonna throw on there that that archman and gets
a concussion, nothing serious, but concussion that results in him
not being able to play, and that Sarksian runs off
the field like Joe Paturna did the one time when
he had the diarrhea and then leave the field and
can't return to the game. In terms of coaching, but
I'm greedy. I'm a greedy guy. I want it all.

Speaker 2 (51:50):
But you know, I'll never forget that Joe pie Trout
off the field. I'll never forget that.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
I was there, and I say him doing it, I'm like,
what in the world is this guy doing? What's he doing?
Head different pants, different man, say, oh, Joepa, Okay, we
know what you did.

Speaker 2 (52:10):
But yeah, I mean, so we'll see we need to
hit arch he needs to get hit hard. And so
I'm hoping they run option. I'm hoping they run zone
reads sometimes and we're disciplined and we tag him at
every chance that we get, and you know, and just
get after it. And again, you know, with their old
line being daned up, are they going to be able

(52:32):
to handle the pressure to ken Yalla Jackson's of the
world and coming off the edge of the Hickses and
the Reeses, coming on blitzes, and how they're.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
Gonna be able to handle that, We're gonna see. So
I don't know about it, but we got a couple
of super chats we could slide into unless you got
something on that.

Speaker 1 (52:47):
No, I no, I agree. I think it's I think
hitting Arch is definitely one of the keys the game.
It's we've talked about it before. It's him being hit
and being concussed is the reason he wasn't on their
goal line. That's why they didn't run their goal line
package when we played him in the Cotton Bowl. That,
you know, no small part of one of the reasons
why we won that game on the on the strip
and soiler.

Speaker 2 (53:09):
Yep, yes, sir, all right, So we got five reasons
thanks for Kylin fourteen all day for the one ninety
nine five reasons why all Caps downs what you got
on at Nevada.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
Yeah, well, I mean just I just you know, he's
another guy that you know, when we got him from Alabama,
it's just like wow, what a what a joy to
see him play. Just an absolutely complete player, almost the
perfect defensive player, a guy that's gonna you know, from
a safety, which isn't exactly a high value position in
the in the NFL draft, but you know, I mean,

(53:44):
I think it's very reasonable he's the top five draft
pick next year. I mean, he's that good, he's that impactful,
can help you on special teams as well. Yeah, I always,
like I always say, in the big games, the best
players win the big games. It's not player number twenty
two or twenty three. It's not or your one and
two is better than their ones and twos. And Caleb's
better than anybody they have on the field. And yeah,

(54:06):
definitely definitely definitely a big fan and definitely glad that
he's a Bucker.

Speaker 3 (54:10):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2 (54:10):
Man's it's just it's still one of those things where like, man,
we got Caleb Downs another year, I mean, after coming
off of Natty, it's just it's amazing, it's amazing. And again,
I know he's played well ever since he was a
freshman and he's been out there. But I think Nevada
sometimes because of that, people forget that he's still learning

(54:33):
and growing and he can get even better. So I
still think there's even a higher ceiling for Caleb Downs
as he continues to learn the game.

Speaker 3 (54:43):
He's still a young guy, and so, you know, and
then you got a Matt Patricia out there who has
a wealth of knowledge.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
And you know, it's just I'm just I'm excited man
to see to see how he's deployed in this game
and how he really makes an impact and so and
just look, just full disclosure, not just because we're at home, y'all.
Like the reason why I feel like we can win
this game and we should win his game, it's having
guys like Caleb Downs and Sunny Styles and and our
other guys out there who've been there, done that, who

(55:13):
are just really good mature kids going up against an
attack like this.

Speaker 3 (55:17):
It just gives me confidence.

Speaker 2 (55:18):
So there you go, all right, Kevin Nubie, thanks for
the one nine nine thoughts on wits in future with
os u Oh Nevada.

Speaker 1 (55:29):
I own I like how you put the you know
that was good. Yeah, what you got on that well,
I mean he had his black stripe removed. You know,
he's a guy that's you know, he's he's a prospect.
He's one of those intriguing prospects. You know. Sometimes you
gotta you you're cutting some trees down, another one times
you're planting, and he's he's one that we're playing on

(55:50):
because he's he's a freaky athlete. I mean, you know,
even for Ohio State, where you've got freaky athletes, he's
a freaky athlete. But he's still kind of raw. And
so I'm super optimistic about his future Ohio State, but
he's gonna have to be some of the fans just
have patience with because he's not game ready right now.
But he's a guy that down the road, you know,

(56:10):
he could be a problem because he's a matchup issue
all over the field. And I'm a big fan of
Wittess for sure.

Speaker 3 (56:17):
Yep, I was gonna say he lost his black strike.

Speaker 2 (56:19):
I mean he's six three, about two fifteen now maybe, Yeah,
he's he came in as a tight end, you know,
and so that's perfectly stated.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
One of those kids whereas like.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Look out where he emerged, like where did he come from? Like, yeah,
we knew about him, but in a room full of
dogs like that. Just let him cook, let him cook.

Speaker 3 (56:38):
And he just might be one of those guys.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
It's like a Red Zone nightmare type guy that kind
of comes out of nowhere that's not on the casual
fans radar. So very excited about Witting and so yeah,
excited about this game. I'm gonna keep saying that we're
getting closer. Tomorrow is ten more days and I'm gonna
have two twenty three different number tens to click on

(57:02):
and show you the picture. I'm going to get stupid
greedy tomorrow Nevada probably, but but yeah, I'm excited, brother excited.

Speaker 4 (57:12):

then we're going to get into it and dive into it.

(01:06:37):

Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
Thank you very much for that. So listen. I had
to do a one, A one B with this one.
All right. I love both these players.

Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
We got twelve one A Cardile Jones, twelve gauge whatever
you want to call him, Tyvis Pal's son, whatever you
want to call him. Days until we played Texas in
the Shoe and yeah, cardeal man, he speaks for himself.

Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
Great great kid.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
He can we can do like he can do, like
a documentary on his life, just on his life in general.
From Cleveland, Glenville and then coming to Ohio State. You know,
the notorious wing come here to play school. And then
you know Urban Meyer's perspective of Cardell and just how
he emerged and how he was such a hero for

(01:07:35):
Buckeye Nation when the great J. T.

Speaker 3 (01:07:37):
Beart j T. Barrett went down.

Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
So Cardell and now he's doing great things in the media.
I'm very, very happy and proud of this kid man, great,
great guy. I haven't had the chance to meet him
in person.

Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
I will, though, but great guy. But also the one B.

Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
Twelve Michael Jenkins days, Holy buck Eye days. Until we
played Texas, I had to put Michael in here. I
don't think he gets enough love, and I wanted to
make sure we touched on that because he was a
really really really good receiver, really really good receiver in
an offense that didn't throw the ball as much.

Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
And so but when we did, guess who was catching it.
This young man right here.

Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
He was clutch, he was reliable, dependable, and this right here,
this right here is one of the greatest players in
Ohio state history. And it was at the receiving end
of Michael Jenkins. So if you're out there, Michael, God.

Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
Bless you, bro. Bucky Nation appreciate you. And so there's that,
all right.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
So remember, super chaps, go to our pay forward military
first responders. We're gonna take care of them because they
take care of us. All right, So let's go ahead
and dive into it. Nevada, What is up, my friend?

Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
When you think about my one A one bs, those
are pretty good. I mean Cardell obviously, Buck Eye legend,
and Michael Jenksons, you know, probably one of the most
underrated wide receivers. And you know owose that history, you know,
as big as that holy Buck Eye catch was his
catch on I want to say it was like fourth
and fourteen in the National Championship game against Miami to

(01:09:19):
keep the drive going. You know what I'm saying. I
mean in a game when we could not throw the ball.
We could not We could not throw the ball that game,
I think I think crenzles like four for fourteen for
eighty five yards in regulation or something like that, and
seven for twenty one on the whole game. So we
could not throw the ball. And you have a fourth
and fourteen against that defense, and Jenkins just threw the

(01:09:39):
guy off him, took that out route, caught the ball
and and the rest is history. So yeah, big time player,
We're getting out at twelve. Now we're getting down to
the low digits, which means, well, how's that football is
just front of the corner. So I'm I'm super excited
right now. I'm counting down the days for sure, and

(01:10:00):
you know, just like six more wake ups and then
we're in the game week and I'm ready. I'm ready
to go.

Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
Uh, speaking of super, you mentioned super Julian super, saying
is your QB one.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
Let's pretend we're shocked, Nevada. We're shocked.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
If you can see my face right now, I'm pretending
to be shocked. So yeah, we're not shocked at all.
I thought this edit was pretty cool. My guy Jason
Bear who follows my Facebook page, Bucky I supposed to
talk with be Moses, he sent this.

Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
I thought it was dope.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
But yeah, we're not surprised that Julian is starting, of course,
But Nevada, what's your initial thoughts now that everything is public,
everything is out there and ready to go?

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
How are you feeling? Man?

Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
Well, I think it's it was the right time. I
think if you asked us, you know, I always say
your timing these things is dicey. But how how early
would you like to name your starting quarterback. You know,
two weeks is about right. You know, you'd want to
have given the fall camp a good chance to have run.
You know, you obviously have other things to consider in

(01:11:06):
this because you've got a backup quarterback and Lincoln that
you don't want to leave or feel betrayed or whatever
it was. So you wanted to give him a fair
shot during the spring camp to a couple of scrimmages,
and but you have to at some point name the starter.
Julian was clearly the guy, but Lincoln's gonna play. And

(01:11:27):
I think that's an important thing for people to understand,
is they're putting in packages and they're not just I
know that the popular thing is, you know, your short yardage,
goal line type of stuff, but that's not just it.
You know, I'm not sure what numbers are going to
call up for him, but they've got a variety of
different situations around the field that they like to do
with with with Lincoln, and he brings kind of a

(01:11:49):
different element than that Julian does. I mean, Julian is,
you know, I say, less athletic, but Lincoln's a freaky athlete.
I mean, Lincoln is a freaky truly freaky apple Fleet,
whereas Julian's just you know, I've heard I saw something
today with this. You know, somebody said it's like the
best thrower ever might might be. I mean it might

(01:12:09):
be the best peer thrower. I mean, he's got that
kind of arm talent, he's that kind of peer quarterback.
But Lincoln's gonna play. So it's but you got to
you need you know, the old Sandings, if you have
two quarterbacks and you don't have one, you know, you
need to have one guy that's the alpha dog. Lincoln's
gonna be the relief pitcher, kind of come in in
case somebody gets hurt and situationally, but he'll see the

(01:12:32):
field this year in a sixteen seventy eight schedule. Both
those guys are gonna play. But Julian's the man. If
you've been following this podcast and following you know, the website,
you know that's something we've been you know, saying for
quite some time. But you know, it's not like he
came out of nowhere. He's a five star, number one
quarterback in the country coming out of high school, winner

(01:12:53):
of the Elite eleven, so super highly regarded, but has
lived up to every bit of the hype since with
in Ohio State, and I know the coaching staff loves him,
I know the receiver's level, I know the offense truly
believes in him, and I think he's going to be
a great leader for Ohio State and I think he's
going to do great things.

Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Yeah, here's the here's the quote. It was Bo Bishop
who said this.

Speaker 4 (01:13:16):
I am not surprised that Julian is starting quarterback at
Ohio State. He's the most natural thrower of the football
that I've seen that has played here. Tim May echoed
this as much when we talked to him at camp.
It just comes off of his hands so naturally it
just flicks. Now, will he become what Dwayne Haskins became
or what CJ. Stroud became, Who knows, But what he

(01:13:36):
is right now is the most gifted and I think
you're gonna really like watching him play, all right.

Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
So yeah, that's you know, definitely how I praise when
you think of all the great quarterbacks we've had, especially recently,
you know CJ. Stroud and Haskins, and I mean those
guys you talking about natural flick and the ball coming
off their hands.

Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
Nothing prettier than C. J. Stroud or even Haskins. So
you know that was definitely high praise. A couple things
I want to touch on Novida about saying, so number one,
the QB battle, I want I just kind of want
to repeat this, and I've said this before because you
still see kind of comments about how Ryan Day handles
the quarterback position. And yes, like Julian saying was the guy,

(01:14:19):
but that doesn't mean it wasn't real what he was
going through. Ryan Day, as a QB guy, even if
he feels you're the guy, he wants you to walk
it out. He wants you to go and snatch it
and take it and prove it and lead your teammates
and win the locker room. I'm telling you, Ryan Day

(01:14:39):
is not just being a phony.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
Oh I'm just going to put on a ruse.

Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
No, He's a quarterback and he understands what it takes
to lead a team. So he's saying, Okay, yeah, I
think Julian is the guy. I'm pretty sure he is,
but he needs to go and prove it to his teammates,
to us all of that, and so I think there
is a small window crack for that other guy. In

(01:15:04):
these situations to take it. I think I do think
Devin Brown there was a crack, but mccour was the starter.
But if you slip up, watch your back type thing.
So I don't think I'm saying this because Nevada people
get frustrated and think this is just a fake you know,
But he does this all the time, even though we

(01:15:25):
knew Julian Sam was the starter.

Speaker 3 (01:15:27):
It doesn't mean that Ryan Day was just faking it.
He wants his guys to step in and take it. Nevada.
What you got to say about that before I move.

Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
On, Well, no, I think it's a great point, and
I think, you know, I think things can things can
go the way that you expect him to go and
the way that you thought they were going to go
without it being fake. You know. I think Ryan likes
to stress the quarterbacks, you know, he likes to challenge
them on the field, off the field, yeah, you know,
to be that guy. And I think to him just

(01:15:59):
anointing some but it's definitely not you know, it's not
the way he does things, not the way that you know,
most of the good coaches wouldn't do it. And I
think for Ryan, he did want to see one of
the guys kind of separate themselves, and I think it's
became pretty clear to the team that Julian had separated himself.
Like you know, you can debate whether it could have
been done a week earlier or whatever it was, but
I think Julian had created that kind of separation. But

(01:16:22):
it was real, you know, I mean, it was it
was palpable. It was obvious that people watching in terms
of what's going on. But you know, I mean Ryan
as a quarterback whisper evaluator of talent, guy that can
get a quarterback ready. I'm not saying he's the best
in college football, but I don't know who's better. I mean,

(01:16:43):
you know, we're basically in a situation where he's got
few peers in terms of doing that, and his track
record in terms of doing that is pretty long and distinguished.
So I trust him implicitly when it comes to valuating quarterbacks,
when it comes to getting those guys ready for the games.
And he feels, like Julian saying, is the guy. He
feels like, you know, now's the time. So he's got
my total support. But I agree with you that I

(01:17:04):
don't think this was this wasn't Kabookie theater where they
were just going out there and going through the motions
and the he was gonna do it. Like Julian's been
really good. And you know, I think Lincoln, Lincoln's a
very capable quarterback in his own way, but Julian's just
different and he's just he's just a pure thrower. With

(01:17:25):
when you have a team like Ohio State's got, and
you've got so much receiving talent and you have a
guy like Julian that can kind of get the ball
out there quickly, on time, you know, put it in
good spots, keep it out of harm's way, it just
it just it was a very it was a very
daunting task for Lincoln to beat him out. And you know,
I think you know, Lincoln, uh, you know, acquitted himself

(01:17:46):
quite nicely and it has earned himself playing time situationally,
but Julian's just that number one guy. But he definitely
earned it on the field and it certainly wasn't handed
to him.

Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
Yep. And that's it.

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
And that's the point is it's not it's not a
fake thing to hey, go out and take it thing,
even though you're the leader in the clubhouse, Go and
prove me, prove me right real quick Day said about Julian,
He's smart, poised, has good composure, can see it. He
has good timing, has really built command and confidence as
time has gone on. Then he said, you see the traits.

(01:18:18):
You see the accuracy. You see the ball getting out
of his hand quickly. We've heard about that quick release
for months now. But the ability to run the offense,
get us into right the right play, make good decisions,
throw it away one need when needed to, and ultimately
take care of the football is obviously huge. But he
said he can fit the ball to tight spaces too.

(01:18:39):
He has a good feel for the pocket and so
all those things and areas that we recognize, he's taking
steps forward here during the preseason. So yeah, those are
all things you want to see from your quarterback. We
saw a little bit of a flash in the spring game.
I know it's a spring game, but you can still
see the flash of the accuracy, the zip, the command,
being able to lead his team downfield, make right the
good decisions. So he has to go out there in

(01:19:01):
the field versus Texas and do that, of course, but
I'm gonna shift gears into the other part about Sanna
say Nevada is that I was talking to some to
somebuddies earlier about saying size, and you know, there's still
I guess some some concern compared to what we've had
like Cardil Jones, C J. Stroud, justin Field. I mean

(01:19:23):
we've had a lot of six four, six'. FIVE i
mean EVEN. J. T barrett wasn't six foot or six.
One he's about sixty, two and so he's probably the
smallest guy we've had in a minute to, START i
Mean martel didn't, Start so you, know MY i guess
AS i was going back and forth about it's, like,
yeah we want a bigger. Guy But Nick saban had

(01:19:44):
no problem with his. Height neither Did, sarkisian who recruited
him heavily At, texas AND i mean obviously the whole
country won at. Him and So Ryan day didn't have
an issue with his height. Either so what say, YOU i,
mean he's he's listed at six,' One drew brees is
listed at. SIX foot i think they're probably you know
how you kind of fluctuate with the heights and what

(01:20:07):
are they really with cleats one, type thing what's your
concern level with his height and being able to throw
over the line and balls being batted down and stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:20:15):
Like, THAT well, i think, you know it's always. A
concern but you know when you see Guys Like bryce
young and, you know who can't be more than five
to eleven or whatever, it is and you know, he's,
short yeah, he's short, you know being able to make.

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
It work.

Speaker 1 (01:20:27):
You know the Thing with julian is he's he's an
over the. Top thrower, you know he doesn't deliver from three.
Quarter arm he doesn't go sidearm at, the ball so
he's coming over, the top which gets, the ball, you
know out of. Harm's way it's never really been. AN
issue i mean in high school he didn't have a
lot of passes, batted down. You know franklin, o'hi said
he has that a lot, of passes, you know. Batted down,

(01:20:49):
you know he's got a great feel in. The pocket
he's got kind of the anti, McCord feel, you Know
where I'm, a cord but just kind of had that
magnetic thing where he'll be drawn to the trouble in
the in. The pocket, you know billians able to kind
of feel and move around and find the. Soft SPOT
so i, you, know look it's, a concern but a mild,
you know a two on a scale, of ten, you

(01:21:12):
know just because the way he delivers the ball like
that he throws it over, the top which the same
way You Know drew brees did and unable to to,
you know excel AT the. Nfl Level but ullians that
that kind of passer. As WELL so i don't think
it's going to be much of. An issue it'd be
more concerned just about in his build because the sixteen
seventy games is a, long season and especially, you know,

(01:21:35):
you know was as the quarterback position has become more of,
a runner, you know at, every level the, high school
college and NOW. The nfl so, you, know again slight
Concern ABOUT do i? LIKE that i like Having A,
will howard a big tank of a guy out there.
A QUARTERBACK yeah. I did that's a guilty pleasure of
MINE that i like to have a big quarterback who

(01:21:56):
can carry on fourth and one and get the yards
and take the hits and and and keep. On trucking but,
You know julian's a different kind. Of quarterback, and uh
if they can, if yeah if they can, protect him
given he's gonna he'll do. Good things he'll deal good
things with his legs. AS well i, don't think, you
know he won't be run in the tanky Way like,

(01:22:17):
will was but he'll be opportunistic and and move and
he's and he's quick, AND uh i think he can
pick up. First downs, but yeah well the hype not
that Concerned ABOUT and i think they've done a good
job on strength and condition. On him so he's a
he's a, little bigger little storty.

Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
Here, now, YEAH yeah I think i think the durability
of the season is more of a concern than him being,
too SHORT so i would agree.

Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
With, THAT so i mean.

Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
He can and the other Thing Is ryan day likes
to remind people that, he's, not uh he's not. A
STATUE and i saw it first hand, at practice but.
HE scrambled i mean he took off and. Looked quick
he's not a slow statue, back there and that, you
know that doesn't mean he's got To be BRAXTON. Or
jt but, you know when he's escaping, THE pocket i

(01:23:05):
think he can move the chains in, a pinch so, you,
KNOW yeah i hope he just the line, protects HIM
which i believe they will and he makes good decisions
to keep himself out of harm's way as far as
taking all, that contact because he's still, you know he's picked,
up weight he's bigger than he was, last year but
he's still not like a, big physical, YOU know afc nor.

Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
Type guy so that's that's gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
BE interesting i think that's a good segue to our our,
Backup Quarterback Lincoln keinhos and so, you know we've been
saying for a while now that we felt that he.
Would play now EARLY on i, said PACKAGES and i still,
think that, you know even if it's not just, go
line it's. Still packages AND so i think we're going
To see. Lincoln play, HOW much i, don't know but

(01:23:55):
you got to get him, out there, his athleticism his
ability to throw the, ball WELL because, I mean i
DO think i Do Believe ryan day when, he said
like earlier today IN about i don't know if you
saw the, the presser but he straight up said he
gave an example Like when fields. Was here he didn't say,

(01:24:16):
chugging off but, he said like we didn't have a
real like we didn't have real depth, behind it like Behind.
Justin fields he straight up said that now, he, said hey.
No offense i'm glad the kid was here and, all
that but it's just the truth he. Said here this
is a true, one too like a true.

Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
Two GUYS and i do. BELIEVE that, I Mean lincoln
keynos is clearly better than.

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Chugging Off so i'm saying that to say Is that
lincoln being brought in is not just some oh well
he has legs and it's it's going to be. Very
predictable lincoln can throw. The ball he's just not as
precise As the elite Eleven winner julian's, saying is but
he can throw the ball and he can. Be accurate
he can. Make throws so the fact that he'll come

(01:24:57):
in won't just be a one trick pony where you
know he going, to RUN and i think they'll be
able to show that you have to respect.

Speaker 3 (01:25:03):
His arm so with, THAT.

Speaker 2 (01:25:05):
Said I think lincoln is going to be needed. This
YEAR and i do think even though it's not limited
to go line in, SHORT yardage i do think he
would be a weapon in that, because again if we
got defenses thinking he's just being brought in to pick up,
the run then we Can Hit brandon ennis on a

(01:25:25):
on a quick little out route or a quick little
stick route or you know whatever to move the chains
because the defense is all bunched up on the line
trying to stop THE the. Q RUN so i really
think there's a lot of potential of what we can
Do with lincoln and also to keep him engaged because
we are going to need both. Of them i'm not
calling for Injuries like. God forbid but it's a, long,

(01:25:49):
season man and So. Get nevada what you what's your
thoughts ON what i?

Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
Just, SAID well i.

Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
Totally agree i'll add one one other element and just
in terms of pure, Armed strength lincoln may have a
stronger Arm. Than julian so watch out for the deep
Shot with. Lincoln too so it wouldn't just be, you know,
you know the little pass or the little thing like,
you know they could bring him in and then, you

(01:26:15):
know run the straight nine down the field and take,
a shot you Know what, i'm Saying because lincoln's got
that kind of armability. As WELL so I, think lincoln,
you know presents a number of. Different challenges it'll be
interesting to see how they kind of get him. IN
there i think In this, TEXAS game i think the
planners that they're. GONNA there i have a sneaking suspicion
there's gonna it's gonna be like the third series or the.

(01:26:37):
Four series it's gonna Be link lincoln's gonna come and.
DO it i think THERE'S gonna i think they they
want to get him engaged to. That degree they really
want him to feel vested in the, game plan vested in,
this team know that it's it's not. Just talk they're
gonna give him a real opportunity to make a real
difference with. Real players it's not just gonna be garbage

(01:26:58):
time or other things. Like THAT so i think they're
gonna try to get him in there sooner, than later,
and uh, you know get his get his feet wet
and see what he, could do so that that's that'll
be something to look for.

Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
As, well YEAH and i do want To see, LINCOLN
run i mean like, really run, you know and and
see what his. LEGS do i know he's a, great
ATHLETE but i want to, see it you Know what.
I'm saying and so, because honestly with The Whole devin, brown,
thing uh, you know his athleticism was a. LITTLE overhyped
i was a little DISAPPOINTED when i saw him. Out

(01:27:29):
there and So, with lincoln, YOU know i want to
see him like. ROLL out i want TO see i
want to see the coaches give him a run pass
option like in the sense that roll, him out give
him the ability to throw or take off something that's
simple to get, him going to put the defense, in

(01:27:52):
conflict and also to use his athleticism and. His arm because, You're,
RIGHT nevada, i mean. He's accurate he's not exactly, is
saying but, he's accurate and he's especially accurate enough and
has a strong enough arm to get it Downfield To,
jeremiah smith who's going to win a one versus, one
battle a fifty to fifty, ball anyway get It To
milon graham Or jj smith down the field when the

(01:28:14):
defense is bunched up at the line expecting a short.
Yardage run so, YOU'RE right, I mean i, Listen again
just like the whole offensive line situation we talked, about
yesterday Just because ethan may not be the starter doesn't
mean that it's a bad thing for, The room like
the depth, is there and so Just because lincoln didn't

(01:28:35):
win the quarterback the starting quarterback position Doesn't mean lincoln is. Chugging,
OFF lincoln i believe truly is right there like he's,
he's nipping like. He's there he brings things to the
table that saying doesn't even though saying, does things. Something's
better And so i'm excited to see both of. Them
PLAY and I really i'm really hoping they do get
him in there and in a timely fashion that makes

(01:28:58):
sense within the flow of. The game, BUT yeah i
want To see lincoln man because he was thrown To
the Wolves against mazoo and that's the last time he really,
you know saw, him play And so i'm excited.

Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
About, that.

Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
Well, you know it's it's you got to understand the
psychology of these players right, now too because even If
if lincoln's been, expecting this been, knowing this or whatever,
it is this is a huge ego bash for him
today where he's got to sit there And See ryan
day go up there and. Dab up, You know julian's saying.
All that you Know what. I'm saying julian's, the starter,

(01:29:36):
he's smart he delivers the. Ball well but you Know what,
I'M saying, I mean i don't care what it Is
like he's, a COMPETITOR and i, think that, you KNOW
the osu offensive staff is really, YOU know, i mean
the one way to kind of rehabilitate somebody like that
and kind of get him mentally right, is to, you
know to dedicate yourself to playing that even if, it's

(01:29:57):
difficult even if it's a. Difficult spot if you say
it's a third series or the, four series that you're
going to stick to it and you're gonna, play him
and you know you're going to get him prepared to.
Get him that's the way that he's gonna, you know
be ready, to go because if you don't, do that
you risk. Losing Him and i'm not talking about losing
like he's gonna leave, right now but, just guys. Check
out and that happens all, the time you Know what. I'm,

(01:30:17):
saying like if you feel like somehow that you've been,
passed over whether you feel it was rightfully passed over
or wrongfully passed over or just, you know unfortunately passed
over or whatever, it is it's hard to stay, engaged because,
you know getting ready for these games is, you know
it's it takes a, full commitment a full commitment on,
the field off the field in the film room and

(01:30:38):
study and testing getting yourself ready. To play and if
you're not, right mentally, you know. It's hard it's it's
hard to, you know if you're not really there to
make that. Full COMMITMENT so i think, with them they've
they've really got to do a job of rehabilitating, him
mentally because no MATTER what, i guarantee today hurt, for him,
you know because these are, human beings, you know this isn't.

(01:30:59):
Just mad where you put, the one, you know the
starter in and the second guy just goes off to
the virtual cloud somewhere, and sit you call his number and,
that like this is a, real person and and and
he reads the papers or, you know listens to the
news or. Does stuff and Here's everybody, julians say sees
the cool Things that julians say with the, crazy hair and,
you know And then, lincoln's, LIKE well I guess i'm

(01:31:22):
just the guy that just got passed Over for julian and.
That HURTS so i always have a soft spot for,
the underdogs for the guys that are kind of buried
on the, depth chart because life's not always easy for.
Those guys, AND uh i really respect the heck of
all those guys that keep. Digging that That's Why. Devin
brown no matter what Happens To, DEVIN brown i saw that,

(01:31:42):
you went, you know obviously transferred to cal, went THERE
and i think he's got beaten out for the starting
job At, cal by, you know by. A freshman i
feel bad. FOR him I mean i feel bad for
him because, You know devin didn't do anything Here In
ohio state but try. To help he tried. To help
he stuck. It out he didn't, you know he stayed
Through the national. Championship game he gave it. As all

(01:32:05):
he just wasn't. Good enough he just wasn't good. Enough
beer but you know that doesn't make a. Bad purpose
that just means he wasn't as Good As. Will howard
he wasn't as Good as kinle McCord was when he.
Was HERE but i really respect the guys that try
and stick, it OUT and i really hope that they're
able to make a real Role, for lincoln not a,
forced one but a real role for him where he

(01:32:26):
can be a. Meaningful, CONTRIBUTOR.

Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
Yeah, i mean it definitely Sucks for DEVIN because i
do tip my cap to him for staying last year
and really, you know just being there as a leader
in his Role With will howard being, the STARTER and
i mean he got him a ring and. All, That
MAN so I think devin is a good character kid
and a stand up young man and. All that but so,

(01:32:52):
you know, IT'S definitely, i mean he's gonna have to
keep fighting because it's. A freshman they're gonna, make mistakes,
you know Things have he's gonna have to be ready
and be engaged because you just never know with these.
Long seasons so, you know best of luck to him.
With THAT but i wanted to flip over to the.
Old Line So ryan day was mentioning. Left tackle the

(01:33:15):
only thing he would reveal as he chuckled and the
presser Is That austin saravell will be the, left, tackle okay.
You know and then he mentioned rotation with the, old line,
you know Namely the there may be some rotation, at
guard but, EXCUSE me i think mainly the. Right Tackle
the Ethan And philip daniels battle. Is interesting, BUT again

(01:33:39):
i know.

Speaker 3 (01:33:39):
Some PEOPLE will.

Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
I don't look at as a negative Thing because i've
seen as in spots rotate some linemen and it's. WORKED
out i think it's, worked OUT and i think especially
it's worth pushing now with the length of, the season
and especially if both kids are really. Really, good so,
to me the theme of the of, the battles you
got the, safety battle you got the old line battle or.

(01:34:03):
Right tackle patricia mentioned that the safeties will, be rotating as.
WE knew, i mean that's something. We've known but you
got two rotation battles against a very very good Team
in texas coming to, the shoot so that should be.
Very interesting but, the, safeties though rather they play both
of them and then when They have caleb down in that,

(01:34:25):
nickel spot or, you know when we're in a different
set and they just have just one of those guys,
out there whatever, the look it's really really good to
know that these battles are leaning Towards, a hey these
guys are, both mid so let's just put them out
there and see. Who emerges it's Coming, off, Nevada, Like

(01:34:46):
Hey phillip Daniels and ethan are both really Good and
HARTFORD and i Always Say Jermaine matthews jalen McClain are
both very.

Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
Very good let's play.

Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
Them both and so, to me that's, a really really
good sign and those kids are just going to have
to when they get, into game they're going to have
to step up and make Plays because texas and arch
is going to, attack them, you know go Ahead.

Speaker 1 (01:35:12):
And, nevada, WELL yeah i think What Look ohio state
last year When When ohio state said they were going
to rotate offensive linemen Through The, national championship, you know
when they were, you know, You Know luke montgomery And
and tigrell were going to move around. AND stuff, I
mean i thought that was kind, of crazy to be
honest with you Know what. I'm saying and they really.

(01:35:34):
Liked it they really liked what. It brought they thought
it kept, guys fresher, kept them, you know, kept guys,
you know for for especially some of the big guys
that may have some conditioning issues or some others like that.
Concentration issues they really liked what they got out. Of
IT and i think that they're going to go to
it this year for exactly the reason. You said they've
got a lot of dudes on the, offensive line a lot,

(01:35:54):
of dudes and, you know they're they're talking about a
six or seven. Person rotation they could probably, go, nine
ten eleven deep and play guys that could. Actually play and,
you Know, for ethan what they're Finding is ethan maybe
a better right tackle than he was a. Left tackle
and those are, different positions and, you know you know
a lot of times you'll see that guys you play

(01:36:14):
left tackle IN the u in college and then they
go TO the nfl and their. Right Tackles for ethan
maybe one of those guys that he may be a
more natural. Right tackle and, You, know austin luckily Is
that swiss army knife that could play anywhere on, the
line and he's gonna lock down that. Left SIDE but
i think they're gonna be playing a lot. Of guys
they're gonna be moving around because they do have options

(01:36:38):
because they did like what it gave them last year
In The national. Championship RUN and I think i like
everything about having that when you've got people that can.
Do it and and like, you said it's not because
the guys aren't up, to stuff it's because you have
so many guys that. Can PLAY and i really like
that on the, offensive line so on the defensive side

(01:36:59):
and in the, SAFETY battle i think you have just
two really. GREAT players, i mean you're potentially GREAT play,
i Mean but Clean and hartford are both, freaking dudes
you Know what. I'M saying, i mean those guys are.
Just good and it's hard to send one of those
guys to the bench, or, say oh you're not, the
starter because they're both really, super talented and, you know

(01:37:19):
you want to keep both those. Guys around both those
guys engage mentally as part of. The process but, you
know there's very little separation between the two and, you
know they're both gonna play, a LOT and i guess
we'll see who plays better when the light shine and
brightest and there's one hundred thousand people in. The building, but,
they're uh, you know they're super talented and, they like
they like what both those guys bring to. The table,

(01:37:40):
and remember, next year you've got another safety spot Opening
with caleb, you know, you know going, you know in
the top five IN the. Nfl draft so you're gonna
want to have both those guys around for next year.
As well so lots to consider on the, offensive line
lots to consider the, safety spot but just an abundance.
Of talent this is a, super talented super, deep team

(01:38:02):
lots of guys that can bring lots of Things and
when you, have that then you in ineffably you have
position battles like we do with safety and. Offensive, line, yep.

Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
Yep this this, old line and about this, Old, LINE
stilly i saw. YOUR comment i think It.

Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
Was stilly i'm not sure who, it Was but i'm
going to touch on it a little bit in.

Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
Conjunction with my comment about the old line and my
little nuggets RIGHT up i DID when i went to
practice on ONE thing i said about the Line is
hensman really jumped out Of. Me nevada, you, KNOW remember
i mean his comeback story or his his re emerging
story when given, the opportunity is a. Great one but
he WAS thrown i don't want to say to, the

(01:38:41):
wolves but kind of as a. Young man he, you
know he was thrown in there early and he really wasn't,
ready physically but he stepped up and did well in.
A pinch and FROM what i Saw, in nevada, he's
stronger he's. More confident like looking at the old line going,
Through drills hensman really popped.

Speaker 3 (01:39:01):
TO me, i mean his punch was.

Speaker 2 (01:39:04):
On point he just, looked strong like an ox out
there and. A leader he looks like the Next what
remington is the center, of Trophy.

Speaker 3 (01:39:11):
Right. Remington correct he looks like, a polished you Know
like remington type. Of kid he looks like. It man
AND so i was very Impressed with hensman out there
and just.

Speaker 2 (01:39:21):
His leadership AND so i say that, to say these
guys got to Play this texas d line.

Speaker 3 (01:39:27):
Last YEAR so i mean.

Speaker 2 (01:39:29):
They did they're coming Off and natty in that run
that they had think about this old line room because
as much as these kids act like they don't hear,
the noise they hear. The, noise okay They. Got twitter
they hear from. Their Friends justin fry was getting pumbled.
And killed the line was getting pumbled and killed before
before the. Title run and for them to emerge like

(01:39:51):
that and go on the run that they did with
the mass unit, like that. The confidence can you imagine
the confidence they have going into the season as, returning
starters and especially against a team you've already played and
beat by.

Speaker 3 (01:40:05):
Two touchdowns and so.

Speaker 2 (01:40:07):
There's that But Also, COLIN simmons i forget who it
was in. The chat he did post a.

Speaker 1 (01:40:14):
A on his.

Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
Ig story he posted the Picture of, julian, saying like,
you know being, the, starter right he didn't, say anything
there was no there was no no text, or caption
but he posted it and clearly we Know What colin
simmons for those who, don't know He's The all american
defensive End.

Speaker 3 (01:40:31):
At texas HE was i think he was a true freshman.
Last year he's. A dog he's really.

Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
Really good so He posted, julian saying So if, I'm
bowen i'm posting that picture in the meeting room with
the old line, and say are you gonna let this
kid come after and get?

Speaker 3 (01:40:49):
Your Quarterback so i'm kind Of glad simmons.

Speaker 2 (01:40:52):
Did that not that they, need motivation but for some
hungry slobs who are ready to get out there and
protect THEIR, new qb that's a shot in the arm
of even.

Speaker 3 (01:41:01):
More motivation would you agree?

Speaker 1 (01:41:02):
About, it, WELL yeah i mean that's the KIND of, i,
MEAN look i love bulletin, board material and, YOU know
i agree you should, need motivation but, you Know urban
meyer was the master of, doing that and, you know getting,
guys ready and that's why he was so darn good
in all those rivalry games and those big games And those.
BOWL games i mean he almost never lost. That situation,

(01:41:26):
but yeah it's it's a it's a. Big challenge but,
YOU know, i mean like, you said we've got four
guys back that played substantial minutes In THE national Championi.
RUN mushart, i mean it's like, big minute not not,
backup minutes not, garbage time like like virtually four starters
back and then You're, atting ethan You're Atting, philip daniels

(01:41:47):
you're any other guys in. The MIX so, i mean we'll.
Have experience they know what they. Can do they've Played against.
TEXAS before I thought texas did a really. Good job
it's probably certainly the best of any of the teams
in the playoff run in terms of hampering. Our defense,
you know we we, scored points but, you know seventy
