Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, everybody, Welcome to the Buckeye Weekly Podcast. I'm Tony
Gerdaman here as always with Tom or Tom. How's it going.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Well, Tony? A little later on today, you and I
are gonna get on an airplane and fly all the
way across these great United States of America back in
steerage class, which is great for folks who are tall
like we are. But Tony, the good news is that
will only be the second most unpleasant experience of today,
(00:33):
because Tony, guess what time it is. It's time for
the Bold Prediction Show.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Time for the Bold Prediction Show. I I'm just realizing,
now do we even know who won last week? Did we?
Did we decide? I won last week? I think? Is
how it happened.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I mean, I can I can get I have not
gone back and scored it.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
So long ago.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah that was it was two weeks ago. Well, I'll
tell you what. I'm gonna let you have this one,
because listen, I don't I don't. I can't guarantee you're
gonna get one later, So we'll let you have this one. Tony.
Congratulations on your big win.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I think that's two in a row, maybe three in
a row again.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Let's that's probably right now, possible.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Possibly four in a row. So tom me being the
winner of a four game winning streak, I'm gonna go
ahead and let you go first and see if maybe
you can get off the snide.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Mmm. I'm just glad you're not making me call you
the champ because you know, you know it's possible, possible
that that's uh all right. So so I'm gonna start
with a really fun fact that I saw a courtesy
of our buddy Marcus Hartman. Uh. He talked about the
fact that the lot Ohio state is eleven and one
(01:46):
in the first road starts for its quarterbacks since I
believe it goes back to two thousands. I believe it
was the stat. Okay, so that was that was already posted,
and I thought, Okay, well, I wonder who the one
loss is. You can obviously eliminate a bunch of guys
right off the top of the top of your head, Tony,
if I just made you guess, and don't think too hard,
(02:07):
I just want you to guess which quarterback since that
time lost his first career start road start.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Is this a true road game? Yes, since two thousand.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
I think it was thence two thousand. I'm going to
encourage you to not think too hard about this one.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Ild I just say, Steve Bella, sorry, no.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
No, we were looking for Joe Bowserman. I mean, really,
when I tell you don't think too hard, I'm willing you.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
But I thought that was a okay what road game
was at.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
That was at Miami in twenty eleven. So the third
game of the season, true road game at Miami. Tony
Joe Bouserman and Braxton Miller in that game, how many
passing yards do you think they combined for?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
It's about seventy four.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh, Tony, Tony, you sweet summer child, thirty five yards passing,
Tony thirty five yards passing. I believe it is. I
pulled up the I put it in our game thread
on the board. It is one of the most my
eyes that goggles do nothing passing lines of all time.
I believe I'm gonna have to do this off my
(03:12):
head because I will not expose myself to the direct
to the direct stats again, I believe Bowserman was two
of thirteen for about fourteen yards, and Braxton Miller was
something like two of four for twenty three yards and
had an interception in those four passes. So the total,
(03:33):
the important number, Tony, the total thirty five yards passing.
So that's why it is so surprising that Julian saying,
who you hear people comping to Joe Bowserman all the
time constantly is gonna have thirty six yards passing within
the Buckeyes first five snaps on offense. He will break
the Joe Bo Braxton Miller combined record of thirty five
(03:54):
yards passing in a first true road start within the
first five snaps of the game on offense. And if
you I would prefer we can also put a game
clock on this, if you'd rather do it with that
as opposed to a number of snaps.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
No, I like this, and this is a this is
a unique one. I don't know that we've had anything
like this before.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
So thirty six bring up Joe Bowserman as much as
we'd like to on this show. So when you when
you have the opportunity, you can't pass it up as.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Much as you'd like to. Maybe I like this one,
and I also think you've got a pretty good shot
here because they do want to open aggressively. It would
be nice if I could go back and look to
see how often has this happened. And I think I
fortunately for you, I have xed out of last week's
(04:42):
or last week the Ohio box score, because I do
wonder if that's a common thing. But again, this is
also Hey, this is a unique environment. This is no
guarantee that they will go three and out. So this
acquires some some actual doing stuff, which is bold enough
(05:05):
for you based on most of your bold predictions don't
require much of anything and other than you having the
ability to outlast me in terms of just sitting doing nothing.
And it's like, well, I'm I'm holding fast, and then
I'm like, fine, let's just we'll accept your bold prediction.
So thirty six yards passing within the first five snaps
(05:26):
of the.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Game within Ohio states, first five snaps on Ohio states
first five, Yes, yes, I mean I don't feel particular
likely he's going to do it while Washington has the ball.
But listen, hey, I'm just right.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
I'm just looking for clarification. We'll go ahead and accept
it just because it is unique. I don't know if
it's I don't know, I don't know how bold it is.
We'll accept one point in bold, and then from now on,
we'll start to put up the we'll start to study
whether this is actually bold or not. So good luck,
good job getting one in a sneaking it in there
(06:00):
before we actually know if it's really anything. Tom, I've
got Here's I've got one here. It's not been done
since the Utah Rose Bowl game, if you can believe that,
that's a long time ago. And what that is is
(06:20):
three consecutive three hundred yard passing games by an Ohio
State quarterback. So if I predict Julian Saying to throw
for three hundred yards in this game, this would be
a three game stretch, which would be the first time
since CJ. Stroud did it in twenty twenty one. He
did not do it. In twenty twenty two. Kyle mccorr
did not do it. Will Howard did not do it.
(06:41):
Three game stretch, three hundred yards passing in every game. Tom,
what say you?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I say, had you predicted this two games ago, I
would have said, you know what, absolutely, that's a great one.
I will give you credit for this one. Once he
has two, then you're just predicting him to do it once,
which he now done two games in a row. So
I feel like the answer to this question is sort
of contained within the setup to this question. Don't you
(07:08):
don't you think so, Tony.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Well, then let me change the setup. No, I was thinking.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Well, I could go a rabbi and a carpenter walk
into a bar.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
I was thinking I could go to like three hundred
and thirty four yards. But I just I want to
get away from the yards because it is what it is.
He's staring for some good numbers right now. Instead, what
I'll say is something that he has not done this year,
Julian saying, has not done this year seventy five percent completions,
four touchdowns, zero interceptions.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah that see, that's a good one. Yes, he hasn't
done it yet this year, and that is a good one.
Yes I will I will say yes to that one,
easily easy. Yes, no concerns, no worries, one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
All right.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
So now, Tony carnal Tate not once in his career
has had more than two yards receiving in a game.
He had one hundred and two against Nebraska last year.
He had one hundred and one against Ohio this year.
So I was going my what I was initially going
to do was say Carneal Tate and Jeremiah Smith are
(08:14):
both over one hundred yards receiving in this game. However,
what I'm going to say instead is Carneal Tate and
Jeremiah Smith are both over one hundred and three yards
receiving in this game, because I can guarantee you that
it has never happened before in the history of college football.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Well, they're both over one hundred and one last week
or against it's against Ohio, and yes, this is a
different opponent. This is going to happen. We saw Washington
State throw the ball quite a bit very well against Washington.
So I'm not going to allow one oh three. I
can go to one seventeen if you want to do that,
(08:50):
and I.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Real great you It's never once in the history of
college football happened that Colorin Nel Tate has caught one
hundred and three yards of passing in one game. And
I will remind you also, So we're going all the
way back to eighteen sixty nine, Tony. It was four
years after the Civil War.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Yes, okay, how about this, When you think.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Rutgers was good at football back then, I mean it
has been a minute, that is how long it's.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Been How about this one, Tom, and this may them
back to bite me because this has also never happened.
Carnel Tate at least one hundred and three yards receiving,
Jeremiah Smith under one hundred and three yards receiving.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Here's what I would perform. Either they're both over one
oh three and one of them is over one thirty four,
or both of them are over one seventeen. How about that?
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I think both over one seventeen.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Does that sound I don't care for it. I feel
it's a little disrespectful. But in the interest of the
fact that we have a flight that we need to
get on, I'm going to we're going to move on
with this, and I'm going to accept it, and we're
going to move on, all right while we're two hundred
and seventeen plus yards, So one hundred and seventeen.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Would yes, Okay, okay, okay. Let's let's stick with the
wide receivers here while we're talking about them. Jeremiah Smith
has three hundred and fifteen yards receiving this season. Three
fifteen a very important state route in Columbus. In honor
(10:28):
of the roads and byways and highways of Columbus, that
go through Columbus. Some combination of Jeremiah Smith catches on
Saturday will total seventy one yards exactly.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Some combination of Jeremiah Smith catches will total seventy one
yards exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Well, and that could be north or south.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Now if it if they're also in the in the
spirit of making things a little bit difficult, I'm going
to allow this. However, because of the construction right now
at the seventy seventy one interchange, if there is also
a combination of his catches that adds up to exactly
seventy yards, it does not count.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Oh no, no, we can't do that, because that's a
very possible thing. What I will say instead is you
can remove You can remove a seventeen yard catch m
or even a thirty four.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yards that seems like it's sufficiently complicated that you're going
to have to do a bunch of math. And you know,
whether you get the pointer or you're gonna be annoyed
enough at having to do this much math. And then
also we're setting ourselves up for the possibility that you
think you've hit this and you've added something up incorrectly,
and then I get to tell you no, in fact,
you have not. And listen, if I get put that
(11:49):
on the table for this weekend, perfect one hundred percent.
All right, So we've established that the wide receivers are
going to do basically all of the work this weekend. Yes,
that's Tony White. Is so bold for me to predict
someone other than a wide receiver, namely Ohio State ton
end Max Clayer to catch a touchdown pass this weekend?
Tony only happened five times in the history of college football.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Well, here's the thing, and he caught a touchdown pass
against Ohio that was the first of the year. I
think we are still okay with saying a particular tight
end catching a touchdown is at least worth one. Others
it might be worth more than one, Max Claire, because
(12:33):
is Carneal Take catching a touchdown? Still I don't think
that's worth I mean, he's doing it every week right now,
so it can't necessarily be worth one because he's done
it in every single game so and last year, pretty
early on it no longer became a point for Jeremiah Smith.
But that is not where we are with Max Claire.
So again, you're you're right on the line of not bold.
(12:55):
At all and almost bold and but this is this
is the one that we all hate when it's like, well,
it's only happened once this season. It's it's not a
regular thing yet, and frankly, it wasn't necessarily a regular
thing at Purdue either.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
So no, no, he only caught He only caught four
touchdowns last year, which you know, you think about the number.
We talk all the time about the number of catches
he had, the number of yards he had, and like
these eye popping numbers, and then he had four touchdowns
last year. So yeah, it feels like that's an important
part of this conversation as well.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Here's what I don't like, and it never works for me,
and I shouldn't even I should just do something.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Else you had me at. It never works for.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Washington has given up six sacks this year. It's three,
three against Colorado State, three against Washington State. Ohio State
season high in sacks is four. I may have come
against Grambling State. I'm gonna say the buck guys get
five sacks in this game. Demand Williams, as we know,
the most difficult player in a nation to sack, even
(13:59):
though sometimes he gets sacked. Tom frankly I wanted to
go with four, but they've already done four. But as
you're showing me, just because they've done something, something has
been done once this season, it can still be bold
if they do it again. So now that I've talked,
now ignore the part where I said five sacks.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
See I see that I'm gonna before you get there,
let me just say, in the spirit of conciliation and
the fact that we're probably gonna have to share an
arm rest at some point later today, I'm gonna say, yes, Tony,
I will allow you to take this for five sacks
for Ohio State. So there you go. Don't say I've
ever been difficult on this show, because obviously that's not true.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
How about four and a half doesn't work that way?
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Two doesn't sadly does not work that way. So this
is one that I looked up. And this is sort
of in the same range or the same space as
what you were just talking about. And I meant to
look this up when I got home, and Tony, did
I forget? I sure? Yes, what I had was OHI
defensive tackles combined for three impact plays. So I think
(15:07):
that that's you know, when you and and we're not
going to include Cayden Curry in the rushman package if
he lines it. So we're we're gonna we're gonna define
this as the guys listed as defensive tackles. I don't
have State's rosters. So Kaiden McDonald and Edward Houston and
Taiwan Malone and Will Smith, you know, those the guys
who are commonly understood to be defensive tackles combined for
(15:28):
three impact plays on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
I like that. And of course let's always clarify the
impact plays. We're talking tackles for lost sacks, force, fumble, fumble, recovery, interception.
Of course, I think that's about it. So yes, I
like that one. That's good. Why would you Why would
you think this could happen? Oh because he's five the
five to ten quarterback. Maybe I don't know why he's
(15:51):
not a.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Five to ten quarterback. But the Washington is also starting
a seventeen year old true freshman at left guard, so
that feels like that might be a you know, you
know how BYU has those like twenty six year old
guys who've come back from their mission and they're married
with three kids, and they're just you know, they have
the dad strength already on the offensive line. This is
(16:13):
the opposite of that. This is uh, this is someone
who got his driver's license literally last year probably, so uh,
you know, I I think I think that that probably
factors into this a certain amount. And you know, we've
we've I think I think that that was sort of
the genesis of this, and you know, we'll see Joana
Coleman is a very tough guy to tackle for a loss.
(16:34):
He tends to fall forward, So I think that goes
against me a little bit. But you know, if if
it's gonna happen, I think that's going to be a
key piece of this.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
No, No, I like that one. I'm staying in that
that TfL vain. How about this from Tom So Harvel
Reese and Sunny Styles have two and a half tackles
for loss on the season. Doesn't sound like a lot,
does it. I'm gonna say they combined for two and
a half in this game, which would be there matching
(17:02):
their season total. And that's that's a three game season total.
So two and a half tackles for loss in this
game for our Vel Reese and Sunny Styles matching their
season total through three games. That is bold.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
That is bold. I am concerned right now about the
potential for you to have a couple related ones hit.
You know, if Ohio State gets five sacks, what are
the odds that Arvel Reese and Sunny Styles have maybe
a couple of those? So that gets you you'd potentially
hit two of them. So they're a little bit related.
(17:36):
But I don't feel like they're related enough that I
can say no, this is too similar to something else
you had earlier, So I'm gonna have to come up
with another excuse. So give me a moment to.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Think, sure, sure, sure, I'll put some music over this.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Nice elevator music. Yeah, no, no, I'm not coming up
with anything, so I will have to allow this. This
is this is one where I have kind of the
same reaction you had to the you know, some of
the one of mine earlier, where it's like, yeah, this
is probably gonna happen, But also I don't really have
grounds to say no. The thing working in my favor,
(18:13):
as I cited with my last one, is that Jonah Coleman,
the running back, is very difficult to bring down, and
you did not get tackled for loss. Very often. He
falls forward quite a bit, and so that'll probably help
him on Williams, you know, might might be able to
get out of the pocket enough to you know, turn it.
We saw this one a week or two ago where
I think our vo had what looked like a sack
(18:35):
and it was like, nope, actually it was no game.
And so you might get one of those. And again,
if you miss this by half and you have one
of those, it would be extremely funny to me. So
all right, we will say yes. We will say yes
to that and move on. All right, Tony, h do
you know how many rushes of twenty yards Ohio State
has allowed this year? According to our friends at cfbstats
(18:57):
dot com.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Well, no, that they have not really played any good
running teams. I could look this up and tell you
and then surprise America and be like, oh wow, he
paid he knows all of these things. Instead, what I
will do is, since I went and clicked the wrong thing,
I'll just say I don't know, Tom.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Tell me, Tony the number zero according to the data
that I pulled up. We'll sit to get a nice
rink on my phone early this morning. So the cheap
answer here is Ohio State gives up a twenty yard
run first time all season. Boy, Tony, that's bold, Tony.
That's why I'm going to say, not just that, I'm
(19:37):
going to say Demand Williams has a twenty yard run
for Washington. So it's not even the running back who's
going to get twenty three carries. It's the quarterback who's
going to have seven or eight and one of them
is going to go for twenty yards for the first
time against Ohio State all season long.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Do you know who leads the big ten and twenty
yard rushes this year?
Speaker 2 (19:58):
I'm going to guess it's Washington.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
It is Demand Williams. He has six and three games.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Wow. So remember when you were talking about how Ohio
State hadn't played anyone, Wait till you see who Washington has.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Played, Demand Williams. Now, the thing is like, none of
them have gone to thirty yards. So I feel like
a rush of at least twenty yards, But I need
to be able to eliminate a couple of numbers in there.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
How about this a rush of between seventeen and thirty four,
because then you eliminate anything longer than that. He breaks,
He breaks a long one, and you know I'm doing
the yes, Yes, yes, yes, yes, no, you know, go down,
take it, take a knee. But he has the Again,
you have to think about the opportunity for spite here.
(20:48):
That's I think a very important part of this conversation
in this competition.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
Every week, I promise you you do not have to
remind me to think about spiite. Okay, you never have
to remind me to think about spite. However, he does
not have a carry that has gone into the thirty
four yard range or even the thirty one yard range,
So you extending that thirty does nothing for me. And
in fact you're just like, also give me seventeen, eighteen
and nineteen. I appreciate what you're saying. Ohio State has
(21:17):
not allowed this to happen. Yet, here's the thing. It
has to be a designed run and it can't be
a scramble. And we know the difference when we.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
No no, because frankly, I think it's more likely that
it happens on a scramble where you've got guys maybe
turning their backs.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
So you want to say it has to be a scramble.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Yes, I will say it has to be a scramble.
That's fine, we will allow.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
That, Okay, maybe has to scramble, has to scramble for
at least twenty yards. Okay, okay, all right, good, good, good,
my last one pointer. So Ohio State has allowed sixteen
points all year long, that's all they've allowed in this game, tom.
(22:10):
They will allow at least seventeen points in a two
quarter stretch, in a two quarter.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Stretch, in a two quarter stretch, ok consecutive quarters.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Do I need more music?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I think we need to limit this in some way. Okay,
I think we need to take out I'm going to
take out a stretch between you know what. I'm going
to take out the first five minutes of the game.
(22:52):
So you can have you can have the entire second quarter,
the entire third quarter, of the entire third quarter, of
the entire fourth quarter. You can have ten minutes off
the first quarter till halftime. But you cannot have anything.
You can't count anything in the first five minutes of
the game.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Okay, Ohio State will allow seventeen points of a two
quarter stretch minus the first five minutes of the game.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
But that does not mean you get the first five
minutes of the third quarter. It just means you get
twenty five minutes in the first half.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Right, well, you're only taking away the first five minutes
of the first.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Round, right, Yes, yes, don't care for the bet, but
I understand why you would want something in there, and
I don't know why I have to give you something
in there, but it just, you know.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
What, for the same reason I had to have it
be a scramble on the last one, just because just
because you remember our old friend's fite. At some point,
someone needs to put together a super cut of the
what I mean, I don't know how many years we've
been doing this, but all the times that one of
us says, I don't care for that, and just I
mean put together like it's going to be seventeen minutes
(23:58):
and thirty four seconds of just that frame, over and
over and over again, with us just wearing different shirts
and different hats and stuff. It is I think the
untitled you know, the unspoken subtitle of this show.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
I don't care for one predictions.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
I don't care for that.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
I your first two pointers.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Here's one you're going to care for. Tony Ohio State
all season long has one play passing play of fifty
plus yards. So it was the Jeremiah Smith eighty seven
yard or against against gram one play fifty passing play
of fifty plus yards all season long, Washington, Tony, would
you like to guess how many they've allowed of fifty
plus yards all season long.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
I'm going to say zero.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
You are going to be correct, because it turns out
it's very hard to do that. So that's why it
is going to be so shocking chalking to the degree
of two points, Tony that Ohio State is going to
have two plays through the air of fifty plus yards
on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
I also we need to like put together a database
of all of the bold predictions and has this always
been a two pointer at one point? Was this a
one pointer? This is but again it's also relative to
the season and the quarterbacks and the receivers and who
you're facing. So I do not like this. I don't
(25:16):
care for this one. Add to the real I don't
I don't care at all for this one. It is
difficult to do. We know there are some secondary concerns
that are actually primary for Washington for the people, and
I should say not not to people, because nobody's riading
(25:36):
for you, Tom, maybe one person for the person. I
will go ahead and allow this a pair of fifty
yard receptions, pair of receptions plus. Okay, I got to
take somebody away, and don't worry, I'm going to take
away two players, will Chasm Merik and Myrlon Graham.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Listen, you try a hard bargain. Can I tell you
how angry I'm going to be if Mile and Graham
has a fifty yard reception on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
That's why you have to allow.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
I get it. I understand your commitment to the bit Tony.
I don't like it, but I understand and I respect it.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
All right, Well, do you respect it? Well?
Speaker 2 (26:23):
My two for a certain definition of the word respect.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Yes, yes, my two pointer. In a similar genre, there
there will be touchdowns for Jeremiah and j for Jeremiah
Smith and Carnel Tate, we'll combine for touchdowns of at
least seventeen thirty four fifty one yards. I think this
(26:49):
is a three pointer, but I went two pointers because
I already had my three pointer filled in?
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Define this for me. Are we we're saying that they
are going to combine for touchdowns of when you say
combined for touchdowns, they're gonna.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Have three touchdowns, one each of Okay, got it?
Speaker 2 (27:06):
So? Okay? Now, Okay, I was thinking, you meant if
you added their touchdown, Like, okay, so between the two
of them, one of seventeen, one of thirty four, and one.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Of fifty one, and they have not done that yet
this year.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Yeah, I think this is a good one because it's
certainly possible to see this happening. But it's also you know,
they could if those two guys combined for three touchdowns,
it'd be like, Wow, they had a good game, and
the odds that you have, you know, could they absolutely.
I mean, I think we've just established that I'm expecting
(27:45):
some long passes in this game, and I think those
guys are probably going to be the recipients of some
of those long passes. I think I'm going to allow
this one for two points. Yeah, because it all points.
I probably would have put some kind of a restriction
that has to be between seventeen and thirty four and
between thirty four and fifty one. But for two points,
I think, you know, if they both have a fifty
(28:06):
yarder and then they also have a twenty yarder or something,
then that would still count for you. Here.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
It also almost eliminates the red zone entirely outside of
the seventeen yard where they're not going to you're not
looking for a ten yarder or something like that, which
they that's almost to say there will be no scores
within seventeen yards for Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate. That's
a one pointer.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Maybe I mean save it for next week. You've already
you've already saved it for next week. All right. So
now we're to the three pointer and this one, Tony
I was really trying to come up with something very
specific and landed on this. Ohio State on its third
(28:56):
possession of the game, we'll have a touchdown pass of
exactly seventeen or thirty four yards.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
This is amazing, Tom.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
I'm gonna you know what, and I'm going to add
fifty one in.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
There just because hmm, okay.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Just because. Then then we're both then we're both rooting
for the same thing, and there's the possibility that one
of us gets it and the other one doesn't.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
So so the third possession of the game, Ohio State
will score on a touchdown pass of seventeen or thirty
four or fifty one yards. Yes, I can't session I
can't say no to that one. Now, what if the
third possession is an interception return for Ohio State.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Well, I phrase that doesn't actually count. On Ohio State's
third possession of the game, they will throw a touchdown pass.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Okay, I like that one. We will accept that one.
And now Tom, you are all done. I have my
three pointer yet to go. And here's where I am.
Here's my three point time. I like it. We'll see
how you feel about it. This season, Washington has allowed
(30:08):
eighty five yards rushing in a game, seventy six yards
rushing in a game, twenty five yards rushing in a game.
For my three pointer, Ohio State will have.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Had those three numbers up and come up with one
hundred and eighty something.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Ohio State will have a running back that rushes for
at least twenty five yards, a running back the rush
is for at least seventy six yards, and a running
back that rushes for at least eighty five yards, matching
each of the full game totals that Washington has allowed
this season. That's impressive.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
This feels much more like a one and a half pointer.
I I you know, if we're gonna if believe me,
if if you'd like to trade three pointers right now,
I could not trade three pointers fast enough with you?
Speaker 1 (30:59):
No, I like mine?
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Yeah, I bet you do, because it's probably ten times
more likely to happen than mine.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
So yes, whose fault is that?
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Well depends are we trying to be bold? Well, then
it's yours. Okay, great, so we've established that. Now I
I'm trying to think about how to modify this to
make it at least fit the loosest definitions of bold
because Ohio State is going to play three running backs
and to have the third guy get twenty five yards
(31:32):
feels like almost a given if they're gonna have eight
carries apiece, So then it's really just a question of
do two of the guys break off a thirty yard
run or a twenty five yard run or something like that,
which then gets you most of the way where then
you can have average four yards of carry or so
and hit those numbers with relative ease. So I think
(31:59):
one of them has to rush for the long run
of the day, has to be at least thirty four yards.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Oh, I would be so angry if if I actually
hit this and don't get the thirty four yarder.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Cabo Jackson ran for almost double a thirty four yarder
last game. So but he right, I don't think that
this makes this suddenly far more difficult. And frankly, even
with that addition, I would still gleefully trade three pointers
with you, as I'm sure you would as well. Well.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Yours is a chance thing. Mine is something that has
not happened this year? Would would you be swayed if
I went eighty five seventy six thirty four.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
I'm going to look up CJ. Donaldson's game log and
we're just gonna see six forty five actually happened already
this season for Ohio State. It is not.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Well, let's me be rush.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
CJ. Donaldson has rushed for at least twenty five yards
in all three games.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
It happened against Grambling State.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
So this is so you'd like three points for something
that happened literally two games ago. I state, this is
a fun this is a fun one pointer, and I
might be okay with it, maybe even for two points.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Okay, here we go. Run A run of thirty four
yards has to happen.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Say that again.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
I run if thirty four yards has to happen, just
like you said this?
Speaker 2 (33:46):
What was your two pointer? Again? Because I feel like
I might want to trade back to uh even with
the thirty.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Go ahead touchdowns of seventeen thirty four fifty one for
the two receivers, do you want to switch those.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
We've been with the addition of the thirty four yards,
I'm going to make this your two pointer and let
you make that one your three pointer. That is how
unhold I feel this.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
It is.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
If we add in something additional, it almost rises at
the level of a two pointer, which really tony. For
you to try to be passing that off as a
three pointer without that qualifier, is I mean, honestly insulting.
I'm offended on behalf of the audience as.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Long as you're a friend. Done, My job here is done.
So okay, we will switch the twos in the threes,
and we're almost done. And now I need to Tom,
you need to come up with a bonus for me
that is not offensive and or you know evil.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Well, I had one all set to go, and then
I checked the weather forecast, because what I was going
to say was we will get rained on at some
point during our time in Seattle. However, the forecast now
looking very very good for the weekend, and so we
might not get rained on in Seattle. So I'm going
to have to change that to at least one Ohio
(35:05):
State running back rushes for at least seven yards during
the game. Total yardage for the game, not on one
run of seven yards. Total yardage for the game. At
least one Ohio State running back.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Okay, but it cannot be on a seven yard carry.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Mine, you drive a hard bargain.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Yes, Steam a mean ham. My bonus for you is
if we do go somewhere and get Seattle dogs, at
least one of us, me being me, is going to
be like, do I have to have the cream cheese
on the hot dog? But if we want to stick
to football, then I will say Julian saying will complete
(35:51):
at least two passes in a row at some point
in the game.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
All right, I will accept that one. Yes, but it
does have to be Julian insane.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
I already took a finger off the checker, so sure. Now, boy,
I don't think we ever been burned by our own bonuses.
But I don't know. It's not gonna happen now. It's
impossible anyway, So there we go. We are complete, We
are done with the bold predictions. Or maybe we're just
(36:26):
getting started because I don't care for much of this
and neither should Tom, but hopefully you guys do it.
If you do, go ahead and hit the thumbs up.
There's no thumb thumbs down option.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Ha ha ha.
