Yes, this is one of these great coaching moments where
working from your mistakes is great. Learning from someone else's
mistake and not having to make that mistake in the
first place, well that's even better. So we will see
what Ohio State is able to do tonight against Minnesota,
because this is a Minnesota team that comes in with
a nice record, but without a ton of talent and

with some you know, with some places where we watch
them this week and like, oh yeah, they have some
talent here. But to me, I think the biggest factor
in this game he is the questionable status. Darius Taylor
is the running back from Minnesota. He can't go. That
really changes what this team is to me.

When we saw them without Darius Taylor, there's virtually no
threat to the running They were not able to move
the ball at all that way against Rutgers. So if
they don't have Taylor, that's obviously bad news. If they
do have Taylor, that helps. He's not really ever been
super productive against very good defenses, so that is an issue.

That's a separate issue.

But if they don't have him, they were past ivy
last week, like forty with eighteen past the rush, and
if you do that this week, it's not gonna lead
to kind of yards you would hope, you know, at
least if if the game is out of hand, it's
eventually gonna that way. If they start out throwing it
two to one because they can't run it at all

or they're not trying, I don't think it's gonna.

the Ohio State Available overe report because we don't have

the state at Bilbow's report. Rice and Rogers wide receiver
listed as questionable. Only really notable name outlist that we
were not expecting. With Jason Moore, who was out for

He actually played, but then he is once again out.
That's not something that's going to make assid difference in
this game. But it's also that's not what you want
to see.

This is not a game where you know, this is
not grambling where you're expecting those guys to all way
thirty snaps or something like that. But it's you know
that certainly a loss of depth in that place where
Ohio State came into the year with a real lack
of depth. But it feels like the defensive line, especially

with someone like Taiwan Malone being kind of stepping up,
it feels like they're maybe sort of finding some answers.

making his plays. What about the guy behind Kate Curry

little different for tonight's game.

this Ohio State defensive line looks like and the pass
rush looks like when they're not facing a mobile quarterback.
Because you go through week by week and they at
at least a reasonably multile quarterback degrees of mobile quarterback
from week to weep. This is the first week where
Drake Lindsay we both came away very impressed with his

arm and his accuracy at was you know, that was
that was a little bit of a wow for me
in terms of a Richard freshman who was the fifty
sixth ranked quarterback in the class. However, he is not
a mobile guy at all. He has his career rushing
total is negative twelve yards or something like that, So
he's not someone who's going to threaten that way, which means, okay,

now you don't need to spy. Now you don't need
to have rvel Reese sort of dropping back or for
sunny styles or whoever it is and kind of keeping
an eye on things. So what does Matt Patricia do.
He's look pretty good with, you know, kind of having
one guy sort of having to stay off to the
side and he's being held in reserve. Now that he
doesn't need to do that, how does he take advantage
of that?

Well, now, it'll be interesting to see if that pastor
of stays as disciplined as it has been, because as
you're talking, I'm just thinking John the bar jo keep
pipe DAWs.

There'll be an opportunity maybe because they get out of
their legs or they.

One on one happy and lose a little bit of
a discipline and there is room for a big sixty

of foot to pick up sixteen yards because there's just
nobody else rit because everybody's man's got, everybody's bad and
there is an opportunity. So there is that will they
stay as disciplined and effective when.

So that's that's kind of one of the things to
watch on the defensive side of the ball. On the
offensive side of the ball. You asked Ryan Day this
week about, you know, maybe stretching the field a little more,

opportunity for them to do that, you would think, because
this is not a Minnesota team, I'm expecting to put
up a lot of points, so may have a little

bit warning way in terms of taking some shots. And
if you counted over, you turn it over. What did
Ryan Day have to say them out? You know, the
aggressiveness in the downfield passing attack.

Yeah, they definitely want to do that. That is part
of the offense. But also you have to take what
offense gives you. So they've got two deep safeties waiting
for that deep ball. You're not gonna throw the double coverage.
You got to pick your shots, they called. So they
worked there, Jilliants.

They did give a good job at check it down,
keeping them on schedule.

At They just said, if you can't go deep, stay efficient,
and that's what they did.

we saw a lot more Bo Jackson than C. J.
Donaldson War James People's last week at at Washington, and

maybe game plan where there was kind of run heavy.
I think we went seventeen nineteen carriers, thirteen seventeen carriers
for Bro Jackson. That's more than I would certainly expect
that was as many as any Hindington running back had
last year. I think that was quin John Judkins had
seventeen in one game. I'm certainly not expecting that tonight.
But what's what's the game plan in terms of in
terms of the running backs in the Buckeyes, I just

go into every.

Game expecting twelve ten a day.

What is the order of that depends on the game
if it's if it's not close, then maybe James Peoples
gets a few more carries in the fourth quarter of
the way things are going right now, or if it
is close, maybe it's fifteen to eight five.

They ride one guy who has who is showing the
ability to make plays, stay on the schedule, stay ahead
of schedule, and if that's whoever that is, they're going
to ride that guy into the fourth quarter.

You have to expect Bo Jackson to round twelve to
fifteen as silly in the game is close, and then CJ.

Just kind of depends on the game. Then I talked
to ross Fold about this week on one of ross
fold analysis shows was highest states use of the tight end.
We have kind of this running joke about the Year
of the tight end. It's finally it is. I have
an unquestionab by the Year of the tight end is
your single has to use more tight ends almost any

time in the past. They were in fourteen personnel three
snaps last week. It's all that's something in the goal line,
So yeah, I get it. But they were also in
thirteen personnel late nine staffs, so that when you only
had six bribes last week, that's a decent Chalpier snaps
to have three tight ends in the field. And if
you've got three tight ends in the field, either Gerremi

is for the Carnel Tate has coming field. I'm interested
to see that mix of personnel changes this week because
they haven't been incredibly effective in that those three and
four tight end looks, especially in short yardage. I wonder
if maybe you see that dialed back a little bit
more and you go to the Jeremiah Smith and Carnel

Tate outside and if you want a single cover them,
go ahead and throw the ball, and if we want
to double cover them, well that gives you a number
vantage inside.

You think they're gonna have to be able to run
the ball at some point at eleventh personnel. So considering

think in college football. So okay, let's say Minnesota keeps

this close into the fourth border. Minnesota makes this, say, Minnesota,
make you know that actually pulls out of Wi. What
is what does that look like for Minnesota. Let's start
on offense, because I feel like on defense the answers, well,
you got to get a bunch of turarovers, which yeah, okay,
that's always the answer. On offense to me, I think
that kind of runs through Jaylen Smith, the wide receiver

retiro freshman wide receiver.

Does you know hits a big Yeah, you can have
some big plays. Gotta give Drake Lindsay time and certainly
benefit of luck would be good. Steal a possession with Washington,
keep it three possessions in the first half of oistay
to be able to treat for Minnesota, So are they
splowing things down that way?

The players that are available also make for player two

on deck has Nebraska and Iowa and so these are
all kind of winnable games for them looking forward, and

couple of those, and you're a pretty good shape in
terms of a bowl, you know, making a bowl. To me,
this is where if you can get up on Minnesota

early Minnesota, he's not going to reach deep in their
bang of bricks.

You get up three scores in the first half. If
they can, that's the easier said than done. If he
can get up Buly, this is not one where I

Yes, he plays defense. Yes he's kind of the back
end of the like kind of a Jordan Fuller type
on the back end of the defense. But he kind
of does a little bit of everything for them. You
see him on special teams, to see him on offense.
Number three, he feels like someone that if Pilot State
fans don't know the name now, they almost undoubtedly know
it by halftime of this game.

Yeah, his name's gonna be batching a lot on the
broadcast of the PA. He'll be the one of the
best spotlight guys want to watch. He's one of the
best players in the country. Active defector, play Baker and
one guy that you you would prefer if your eyes
eight for a very very quiet.

Well, if it depends I because it depends a little
bit on liking quite a special team and like quite
on offense. If he's making a bunch of tackles on defense,
a bunch of those might be fifteen yards on the
field and you'd probably take that. A couple of quick
things I did want to mentioned before wrap up with
some core predictions. Minnesota had a couple of low steps
on you know, from the center last week. That's something

you just kind of keep an eye on because you
throw the time off on some of these plays and
gets it trying to get outburn just not have him
sit down by the pocket. You're trying to get the
ball out quick down. A lot of that is time
and stuff acting for off time, because that's just something
to kind of keep an eye on. The Other thing
is special teams. Minnesota wanked the field goal last week,
Minnesota nearly walked a puff last week. Minnesota nearly got

a punt walk last week. Minnesota missed the field goal
last week. Minnesota had Kim won kickoff return in Minnesota
had a terrible kickoff or it's just it is just
whatever it is, it's gonna be eventful when Minnesota's on
spipe stats.

Yeah, that's one where if your io was day, just
be quiet, just like, be very vanilla, don't be part
of a drum, don't be the big character of the
big game.

But what's what's the game plan in terms of in
terms of the running backs in the Buckeyes, I just

What is the order of that depends on the game
if it's if it's not close, then maybe James Peoples
gets a few more carries in the fourth quarter of

They ride one guy who has who is showing the
ability to make plays, stay on the schedule, stay ahead

You have to expect Bo Jackson to round twelve to
fifteen as silly in the game is close, and then CJ.

Just kind of depends on the game. Then I talked
to ross Fold about this week on one of ross
fold analysis shows was highest states use of the tight end.
We have kind of this running joke about the Year
of the tight end. It's finally it is. I have
an unquestionab by the Year of the tight end is
your single has to use more tight ends almost any

time in the past. They were in fourteen personnel three
snaps last week. It's all that's something in the goal line,
So yeah, I get it. But they were also in
thirteen personnel late nine staffs, so that when you only
had six bribes last week, that's a decent Chalpier snaps
to have three tight ends in the field. And if
you've got three tight ends in the field, either Gerremi

is for the Carnel Tate has coming field. I'm interested
to see that mix of personnel changes this week because
they haven't been incredibly effective in that those three and
four tight end looks, especially in short yardage. I wonder
if maybe you see that dialed back a little bit
more and you go to the Jeremiah Smith and Carnel

Tate outside and if you want a single cover them,
go ahead and throw the ball, and if we want
to double cover them, well that gives you a number
vantage inside.

You think they're gonna have to be able to run

terms of a bowl, you know, making a bowl. To me,
this is where if you can get up on Minnesota

early Minnesota, he's not going to reach deep in their
bang of bricks.

You get up three scores in the first half. If
they can, that's the easier said than done. If he
can get up Buly, this is not one where I

end of the like kind of a Jordan Fuller type
on the back end of the defense. But he kind
of does a little bit of everything for them. You
see him on special teams, to see him on offense.
Number three, he feels like someone that if Pilot State
fans don't know the name now, they almost undoubtedly know
it by halftime of this game.

Yeah, his name's gonna be batching a lot on the
broadcast of the PA. He'll be the one of the
best spotlight guys want to watch. He's one of the
best players in the country. Active defector, play Baker and
one guy that you you would prefer if your eyes
eight for a very very quiet.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Well, if it depends I because it depends a little
bit on liking quite a special team and like quite
on offense. If he's making a bunch of tackles on defense,
a bunch of those might be fifteen yards on the
field and you'd probably take that. A couple of quick
things I did want to mentioned before wrap up with
some core predictions. Minnesota had a couple of low steps
on you know, from the center last week. That's something

you just kind of keep an eye on because you
throw the time off on some of these plays and
gets it trying to get outburn just not have him
sit down by the pocket. You're trying to get the
ball out quick down. A lot of that is time
and stuff acting for off time, because that's just something
to kind of keep an eye on. The Other thing
is special teams. Minnesota wanked the field goal last week,
Minnesota nearly walked a puff last week. Minnesota nearly got

a punt walk last week. Minnesota missed the field goal
last week. Minnesota had Kim won kickoff return in Minnesota
had a terrible kickoff or it's just it is just
whatever it is, it's gonna be eventful when Minnesota's on
spipe stats.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Yeah, that's one where if your io was day, just
be quiet, just like, be very vanilla, don't be part
of a drum, don't be the big character of the
big game.
Speaker 2 (16:03):

It kind of feels with Lady might get a little
bit of that. Uh So sport prediction time, we both
had Ohio's date winning comfortably in Minnesota not.

Yeah, I believe I went thirty eight three, keep it going,
keep Minnesota out of the end zone thanks to Ohio
State's stellar red.

Zone defense, and I went thirty one to three. What's
the same except just sort of looking at Yeah, I
think it's probably given me about forty one three or
forty sick or something and then dialing back this score
a little bit because you see so few possessions. Was
this this maybe the game where highest he gets possessions
and then it ends up high forty was worth mindic

can really take the air ond of the ball that
Washington did last week. Maybe it's in the twenties and
it's twenty four ten. I mean that feels like give
Minnesota and it just went air out of the ball,
But that feels like that with us, he's win this
