Speaker 1 (00:02):
Good morning from what is known as and what is
probably deservedly known as the greatest setting in college football,
Husky Stadium in Washington, Washington, to be specific, Public Washington
hoskis sight of today's matchup between the number one Ohio
State Buckeyes, number unranked Washington Huskies. Super professional, really played
that off smoothly. Was great. Which number game time, number unranked. Uh,

(00:26):
the Huskies coming in for you know, coming in with
some very shining staffs, but not having really been tested yet.
They will be tested today by the Ohio State Buckeyes.
We normally do this and oh, this fields behind us,
it's the most exciting thing. No, no, this is the
field's great. The stadium is very impressive. It's over there.
We may show it to you a little later on,
but like Washington behind us, it is an incredible setting.

(00:50):
I feel like it really Yeah, we should just stand
off to the side. Yeah. Yeah, it's very pretty. It's
bugged up to the expectations. And I've opened it for sure,
and I have a behind the scenes video shot walking
around the stadium earlier and giving you a look at
sun rise over the lake which was incredible this morning.

(01:11):
We'll get that posted to the YouTube channel a little
later on today. So there you go. Reason number one two.
Make sure you're subscribe to our YouTube channel, YouTube dot
com slash buck I have, all right, So there you go.
Scenery talk done for at least a moment. We may
come back to it later, but talk a little bit
about the game. This is it. This is the first
road game for Ohio State. This is certainly going to
be This is not like ease into it like they

(01:32):
have at some points in the past where they've opened
the season at Indiana pre s Kurt Signetti Indiana a
couple times. So it's like, Okay, the stadium is gonna
be half Ohio State fans and probably not entirely full,
and the team's not gonna be very good. This is
going to be a pretty good test for Ohio State
in terms of travel distance, volume of stadium, and you

(01:53):
know some of the skill talents on Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, this will be the biggest road opener since twenty
sixteen when he went to Oklahoma the TCU game, because
that was a little higher state fans can get tickets.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
This is going to be an.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Interesting one to see how many higher state fans have
made it there. Are you know there there are plenty
in the area. But it's also one that the Husky
fans don't want you to give up. So I'm very
excited to see this. And yeah, you've got to be
ready to go. But they were ready to go in
the season opener against Texas.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
You assume they'll be ready to.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Go against the Huskies because they've prepared well the first time.
You expect them to play prepare well for the second time. However,
I think this is a more difficult offense to prepare
for a better offense than what they saw against Texas.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Oh for sure, Yeah, this is Texas. Week one just
looked really a little out of sorts, and the talent
for Texas is probably better. This is going to be
this arch Manning just didn't look like you were sort
of expecting arch Banding to look. Let's see what DeMont
Williams looks like. Is this will be definitely be the
best defense in the Mond Millions to face this year.
You played against Oregon last year. That was a game

(02:56):
that we watched, you know, lead up to the Rose Bowl,
and you saw but he was a true freshman. So
now second year, okay, you've got you've got a second
year quarterback for both of these teams that's going to
be facing one of their bigger, bigger tests of the
season in terms of the crowd noise. How does that
impact Ohio State today?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, well they're gonna be They've been practicing with noise
all week long, two weeks long now since the Ohio game.
So they've been working on the silent counts, silent cadence
and not involving noise basically, and so so much noise
that you've just learned to ignore it and learn to
operate without it. And so that's the expectation is that's
what they'll start out doing, because I don't expect.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Them to think, let's first drive, let's just see if
we can hear now.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
They're gonna plan on not being able to hear, and
then if things go well, they'll be able to hear
later on. So that's gonna be the that'll be the target.
But the initial mission is operate silently.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
And when we talk about silent count the way that
changes things for the offense is the offensive lineman no
longer have the advantage of knowing the snap count when
the dep doesn't, because the offensive line is Basically they're
looking for when is the ball snap, So they're going
to see the ball snap at the same time the
defense sees fall snap, as opposed to being able to
have that just split second of I know that we're

(04:13):
going on too, but you don't know that we're going
on to so I can go right on too, and
you've got to go to ope they're moving, then you go.
It's just a little bit of a difference, but pass
rush wise, that can make a difference. We have seen
false starts as an issue. You know, you go to
the Ohio Stadium, they give the crowd a buckeye leaf
on the scoreboard every time the opponent has a false start,
because that's one of the things that a allowed crowd

(04:35):
can potentially potentially cause. This will be a good test,
I think for Austin Seerveld and Philip Daniels at the
tackle spots for live stage for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
And there's a reason why Ryan Day before the Texas
game say hey, we want the crowd to create a
silent account. We we don't want Texas to be able
to hear because it is a disadvantage. And so there
Ryan Day is like, we can't make this. We've got
to take advantage of this disadvantage. Basically, Yeah, but when
you hear these tackles, you're out far, you're looking inside.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Let's see.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
When things going, you're immediately at a disadvantage, and so
you've got to recover and then operate. So it's it's
a difficult task for any of the offensive tackles. So
I'm I keep saying, I'm fascinated to find out about this,
and this is yeah, but this is a good one
as well, I think. Fortunately for Ohio State, the past

(05:24):
rush with Washington, at least outside has not been great.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Dead. Yeah, the Washington defense has been okay but not incredible.
But the Washington offense twenty one straight non kneel down possessions,
they have four points and out of the twenty one,
nineteen were touchdown. So that's about as good as you
can do it. The defense has been okay, but the
defense has some questions. The defensive line has been fine,

(05:50):
not remarkable, but fine. Linebacker Buddha Aluta, he's out for
an extended period of time. According to jet Fish, it was,
you know, the press conference on Monday, it basically was
is not playing this week and it may be a
while so you get the sense that's probably maybe months,
not weeks, not days certainly. So that's one question, how
are they going to replace him? The other question is
corner to Carrio Davis, because Ehesians Pritoc on one side,

(06:13):
six foot four, six foot four, visions price SoC I
just got to give him his in the svalutation at
the beginning, like mister, what you know you can do?
Mister or missus ms or six foot four and he
is six foot four Ephesians pritoc on one side, so
you know you feel reasonable about him six ft fo,
six foot four. To Carrio Davis on the other side,
it sounds like, according to Pete Fammel, he is doubtful

(06:36):
to play today and that that might be a real
game changer for Washington. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
I think it is because him not being out there
last week against Washington State was a clear issue because
you know, they moved Nickel back, Lee Wory Bryant and outside.
The other guys outside, including a true freshman, was out
there six two sixty three true freshmen.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
So they love their tall corners.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
It just moves everybody up a spot, and they don't
necessarily have that death right now to move everybody up
because the other the third guy involved in replacing Kakario Davis.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
So you recher freshman in the safety's last corner. So none
of this is ideal.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
And Ryan Walter's defensive coordinators said earlier in the week,
if Cargo can't go, there's things they can't do that
they would like to do. So all this is not
good news, right.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah, if Jakaria Davis can't go, that puts number one
young guys, number two guys who are either unproven or
you know, lee Roy Bryant did not have a good
game last week against Washington State, to the point that
Jed Fish got asked about him at Monday's press conference
and the question was essentially like, so what do you
say to a guy who had a game like that?
And it was you know, I mean, if you're getting
asked about in that kind of context, if the reporter

(07:40):
starts the question with the like how does he do it? Like? That?
Is that is not a good indication. And the skill
level of the outside talent for Ohio State, I don't
you know, no disrespect to the wonderful coopars of Washington State.
I'm guessing the Ohio State wide receivers are going to
be considered better than Washington State's and you know, no,
no shade on Zebby what's his name from Watkins State,

(08:03):
But I would think, you know, I think truly insane
is at least as good as safe to say. So
this is gonna be a challenge. He was impressive enough. Yeah, well,
we'll see how things go. And Julian saying handling all
of this will get to we'll talk about that a
little bit. But yeah, and we have some questions about injuries.
We'll get to that in a minute. At first, we're
going to hit the super chat from Mike Freno. How's
it going, guys, You agree that a road environment like

(08:24):
today will more affect the offensive line than you beat.
We're very experienced offensive lines and no reason to worry.
They're perfect segue into the old QB situation as well.
I do think this in facts, the offensive line more
than the quarterback. Quarterback is just operating with his eyes
as much as anything else, but he can be obviously
impacted by the offensive line not doing well in creating

(08:46):
species and then also putting them behind schedule with the
fall stars. Now now it's second and fifteen or.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Second and twelve, do I need to be more aggressive
and picking up eight or nine yards where if that
wouldn't have happened.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I could have just dumped it off my career or four.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
So the quarterback in that way where it's like, now
I've got to make up in those five yards if
the offensive lines is coffee. But in terms of like
him being rattled or anything, he wasn't against textas he looked.
He was the calumn quarterback in that game, had to
him an arge. I don't expect him on Williams to
be rattled in this one. I don't think that's gonna

(09:19):
be like once again Julian's saying is the calm and quarterback,
but we haven't seen anything yet from him that makes
me think he's going just gonna be too much more.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
No, he I mean, your your first career start is
a national TV in against the then number one team
in the country. That's about as biggest age as you
can have a first starter on outside of like a
Cardial Jones type start first start. So and that one
went pretty well as well. So he's I think they
are at the point now where they were very clearly

(09:49):
trying not to ask too much of Julian saying in
that in that first game against Texas, he gets the
sense they're probably feeling a little bit better about him,
and you're probably gonna be a little more comfortable putting
things on him, you know, to try and trying to
do a little bit more Well, you know, I'm fascinated
to see if the person early interception then yeah, but no,
because that's entirely possible. And then does that completely change

(10:10):
the approach or is it just well, all right, don't
do that again. Yeah, I think he's bounced back from
his interceptions.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Then you didn't throw one against Texas, so it's hard
to judge, Like, yes, I can bounce back against Grambley
State as well. Yeah, but on the road, I wonder
because we saw it last year.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
At Penn State.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Will Howard, it's fine, you know, ten nothing, throw an interception,
pick sticks or whatever.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Can Julian say and do that same thing?

Speaker 2 (10:36):
If there's the pick sticks out here and it's ten
nothing in the first quarter, how this place is going
to be going crazy. But so is that, you know,
so as Beaver Stadium. But Will Howard, does your senior
leader all of that kept everybody, everybody calm Julians saying,
keep people called or does it do other people have
to do it?

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Well? I mean he he sure lips come. What was
the what was the tweak? Did they put them in
scool wards? Something that's like you looks like he's listening
to Maroon five through his headphones or something during the game.
I mean he he just did. He gives off the
vibe of you know, sometimes it's the intense quarterback. He
gives off the alm in control, in command, no worries,

(11:16):
All good, we've been here before kind of vibe. Yeah,
this is going to be a challenge. It's not that
they have the basic challenge, but this is going to
be a different type of challenge. I think one of
the questions and we'll get to up. We've got a
super chat here. We've got to get to from Mike Farino.
Demon Williams might get a little bit rattled after being
a hit hit a few times by ar Val Reese.
What's interesting is we've seen Demon Williams. We've talked about

(11:38):
this a bunch. He did. He's not someone who slides.
He runs a lot. He is not someone who slides.
He he you know, he's not a run out of
bounds quarterback. That's great, Like, that's tremendous courage. It's also
not something that I think you can do all season long.
That feels like something that's going to catch up to
you at some point. And we have seen r vel
Ree loosen a few people's fillings this season with the

(12:01):
with the pitson space.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
And I think you mentioned maybe last week while we
were watching Washington games, you dropped to Corby Jones. Oh yeah,
reference that certainly all ages would remember, but even I
can't remember. As Jet Fish or the offensive coordinator this
week was asked about this very thing, like.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Don't you want demand to slide more?

Speaker 2 (12:22):
And then they're like, well, we don't want to change
his game, but it'll be nice if he didn't get
hit as much. If you know, whether you go out
of bounce, you give yourself up early. That's not really
his style. But you have to assume they are preaching
that a little bit in this one, not because of
whire State's so big and scary, but we need you
to stay in this game the entire time. You would

(12:43):
preach the same thing if they're playing Oregon State Washington State. Hey,
you don't need to take on a linebacker. You can
just go ahead and get your seven yards. We'll fight
the next down and you don't.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
He's he is a battler and he thinks he he
thinks he you know, he felt like Jonah Coleman like
I cannot be hurt. It's like, well about five five
eleven one nineties what he's listed at. Yeah, you are
not unbreakable. Yeah, Jonah Coleman is about five eight and
I think two twenty or so, so he is built
like a break brick. You nut what I said. He's

(13:17):
a one by one leg of him. Yeah, yeah, that's
about That's about right. Yeah, he's he is a he
is a solidly built up he's he's someone you want
to run him between the tackle twenty times. I think
he'd be fine. You take forty pounds off that frame
and maybe add an inch or two to the height,
and then that kind of changes, that kind of changes
the physics of the situation. So yeah, I think Washington

(13:38):
would be much better off with de Mon Williams running
for four yards and sliding rather than seven yards and
taking a big hit. Staying on schedule is important, But
also I don't I don't think they want to explore
the quarterback depth in this game.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Yeah, even if you don't get knocked out of the game,
the hitch will will add up. You know, sore shoulder.
How does that wi your accuracy? Yeah, it's just fast
to stay as clean as possible.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
As for Washington. Uh, say good morning to our friends, Sue.
It is good to have you from Northwest Ohio. Lovely
northwest Ohio. Uh, it does not look like this. I'm
from northwest Ohio. I'm trying to figure out what part
of Northwest it's like Lake Erie right, No, No, I
mean big, not so much. The mountains in the background.

(14:26):
Can they match the high level bridge from Tweedn't know
they cannot. We've been on a lot of bridges here.
I haven't seen one yet matches the majesty of the
high level bridge. This is also a little bit bluer
than the Mammie River. No offense slightly. Uh So we've
got uh, you know, Chadwick. We I think we punched
it separalage and actually read it good morning. Gent's not
surprised by the amount of Buckeye fans in Seattle, but

(14:47):
still blows away, blows me away how well we travel.
I mean there were a lot. There were a lot
of high stay fans, and you know, it's Friday, and
we were kind of in foresty areas, so you figure
the Washington fans have probably already been to the Pipe
Place market and you know, seeing the seeing the original
Starbucks and all all that fun stuff. But yeah, there's
always a lot of Ohiota fans and and Ohio State

(15:08):
fans travel very well. I'm seventy thousand seats here, I
would expect and thousand, fifteen thousand Ohio State fans. That's
that's kind of like par for the course for an
Ohio State road game.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
One thing they're going to try to get Ohio going
around the stadium.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Yeah, because of the lack of certain places, it's laid
out a little like Ohio Stadium where it's a foreshoe
with like a South Fands kind of thing down there.
And I will at some point in a little bit,
we'll we'll maybe let you look out the window and
kind of walk you around a little bit. You mine
meet the Ohio State fans.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
We were at a lunch spot yesterday and I ran
every you know, thirty minutes or so, somebody would yell out, oh,
here a bunch of iOS. It's like, I'm sure people
flying here have did the same thing on the planes.
But yeah, all of the touristy lunch spot, some dinner spots,
I'm sure last night, the drinking spots.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
A lot of Wire State fans for sure, fans and
drinking spots. To say that would be.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
A first, So you can't be yo be necessarily on
the plane question. How are you guys enjoying the trip
so far?

Speaker 1 (16:15):
We did a lot of stuff yesterday. Yeah, it was
very cool.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
I've just been looking forward to this particular day. But
let's just check it off the bucket list. I've not
been out here before, and uh, I didn't realize it
was so hilly.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, yeah, you think Seattle is like, i mean, you
know their mountains around, familiar with Mount Rainier, but you
don't think, you know, Seattle hilly like San Francisco. But
it's kind of or you know, it's it's uh, we'll
put it in midwestern URMs. We like it's perfect, it's
it's kind of it's like that. So yeah, it's but
but yeah, very very nice headed, had a nice time

(16:51):
just kind of wandering around a little bit and then
stayed out and I guess we can. We're not doing
the team now stayed out in Bellevue Chance. That's a
very nice area. Counts just on the other side of
the lake, very very nice area. And you had had
a good time and Ampus very nice. The setting here
is just incredible. The Lake Stadium, it's the whole thing.

(17:12):
Lives up to the building for sure. So very excited
to see the uh you know, see see the stadium
full it is there. They're doing a you know, and
I don't know if it's purple out, but it's they
puld everyone to tell you hold everyone to wear purple.
I don't know if they're what they're calling it, but
they told everyone to wear purple, so to be it
could be quite a scene here. And it's a twelve
thirty kickoff and they you have been repeatedly telling people

(17:34):
get here early, drive early, be loud. So I am
expecting people to do both of those things. Uh, he
just says one gents, and Bill says, think about how
ohighest they can lose? Turnovers and special teams come to mind.
How are the Huskies and special teams? Brady Gross is
their kicker. He's been their kicker for three or four

(17:55):
years now. Two years ago he was incredible. Last year
he was kind of shaky. We saw a couple of times.
Think he might have missed the field goal or two
against Michigan last year, I remember, right, but he missed
some cakes last year. This year has been very good again,
big tor. Yeah. He hit a fifty one yarder against
was it Colorado State? I think it was either Colorado
State or Washington State one of the ones we watched,

(18:18):
and it was, you know, good from fifty one, and
it would have been good from fifty five fifty like
anything hit the net behind. So I mean, he's he's
got a big leg. He's been good so far this year.
They they did, they give up a long They gave
up a long return last week against Washington State. Was
it a hunter and takeoff? But not remembering? Yeah, I
can't remember either. Well I wouldn't have been a part returned. Oh,

(18:38):
yes that's true, Yes, yes, that's right.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
They said the punt reel is very short, just two
months not I could not tell you how what to
expect from the punter in this game. But OHI State
needs to bring their special game special teams not let
just don't.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Be don't be negative. Yeah, and then that's a positive, Yeah, exactly.
So yeah, other than that, I mean, yeah, turnovers. Turnovers
are kind of one of the you know, that's sort
of the evergreen don't don't be minus two minus three
and turnovers and that you know that narrows the path
to victory for Washington substantially sprinted all over a couple

(19:14):
of times. You have seen that spiral for Ohio State
on the road nut for quite a while, but you know,
against against Iowa for example of twenty seventeen, you know,
how do you give up fifty five points to a
Brian Farren's offense, give him a bunch of short fields
and give him a give him a pick six or two,
and that can spiral pretty quickly.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
But that was the same kind of start as Pence
State last year, right, right, but two different, completely different responses.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yeah, and that was a very veteran team last year.
This is a team that's younger but also someone I
mean a lot of people they're a little there. Yeah,
they saw what it took to get to the playoffs
last year, and they are more battle tests than you
would think just looking at the leaders of experience on
the roster sixteen new starters, but not necessarily be the player,
right right, Billy Karen is I'm sorry, Billy Karen. I've

(20:01):
got to found out that that user name Michigan Michigan
off this week, So nowhere for Blue to go this week. Yes,
Sue says, that looks like the beautiful mall met Yeah,
I mean I think I see Hollywood Casino down there somewhere. Yes,
it is. It is quite a quite a setting here.
So the questions Chadwick wanted to know about bo Jackson

(20:24):
and Anti asked any injuries in general. The availability report
does not come out until one thirty Eastern time ten
thirty Pacific time. I could do, I can do time zones.
Probably speaking, I don't think I certainly haven't heard anything
about any injuries of real consequence. I have not heard
anything about bo Jackson won't be able to go today.

(20:47):
You know, the availability to report again will come out later,
and if there's something consequential on there, we'll update you
guys right now. I don't think there's any reason to
think that bo Jackson will not be able to go today.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
You know, we have no play at st update. Yeah,
I expect everybody to be healthy. They bringing everybody, you know,
well not everybody, right.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Yeah, the travel roster is seventy three, I think, so
you're gonna you know, there will be guys who are
not here, but that's not necessarily because of the injury.
That's because the NCAA limits the number of players you
can take on the run. Was old he was going
to think about it.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Expect about twelve freshmen to travel, which is a pretty
good number, uh or running backs or so and your
three quarterbacks and maybe two freshman maybe three freshman wide receivers.
But yeah, no, no reason for concern right now. I
know that there was a concern early in the week
when bo Jacks had a rap on his knee. Right,

(21:41):
everything seems fine there now, right.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
And and you know, I don't know what order to
expect the running backs and and what kind of mix
of carries to expect, because you know, if he's not
one hundred percent, that probably changes things a little. But
they got to other guys that fel good about c J. Donaldson, James.
People's this is not oh boy, if you lose the
first guy, you're really in trouble. They've they've seen some

(22:08):
very positive things from both of those guys, and they
all bring some different stuff. I'm guessing if you're gonna
see some blitzing, you're gonna want someone who can really
pick up those blitzes like CJ. Donaldson can. You may
see more of him just because a pass pro today. Yeah. CJ.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Donaldson and James people picked up blitzeres on touchdown passes
against Ohio, so obviously they're more experience doing that than
Abou Jackson.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Maybe when you're down, like something up, you've got one
of the two bed friends in there. Yeah, and you
also you can't just have those guys are only in
when because obviously that tips it off that she has
like picture tipping pitches like well, if I see you,
if I see your holder glove this way, I know
it's a curveball. If I see you, know CJ. Donalds
in there, I know there's a decent chance you're going deep.
So they will have to kind of mix things up.

(22:52):
But I think you're gonna see all three guys. I
think you'll do. You know, all three guys get at
least five carries, you know, between five and twelve something
like that.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Would be my guest and as well, Yeah, get wote
depending on how bigures are going down a stretch.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Yep, Buck Mulligan says. Love the video showing Yesterdas in
the stadium area. Cool to see the setting. Yeah, that was.
You can find that one on our YouTube channel. I
shot one this morning early, but you know, right at
sunrise walking around the stadium, kind of started down on
the field, walked up into the stands kind of behind us,
so you could sort of see the sunrise over Lake Washington.
Then came up. This is the first time I've ever

(23:28):
gotten loft in the middle of one of these. I
started walking up the ramp and I'm like, well, I'm
sure this goes somewhere, and so it's a little you know,
it's all a little raw and unedited, but yeah, and
then we'll end up in the upper deck and you
get a really cool view of Lake Washington in the
field and all that kind of stuff. So that will
go up in probably you know, twenty minutes thirty minutes

(23:48):
after this one ends, and then we'll try and get
over to the sail gating area and do something over there.
We will see just right over there and see some
of the boats on the lake behind us. But yeah,
it very very cool area and definitely worth This is
I would add this to the list of like Nebraska
and you know, the Rose Bowl for the Rose Bowl game,

(24:10):
and you know other what other place Oregon for sure
last year. This is this is kind of on that
tier of Yeah, you should go check this out. You
should go see a game there in person at some point,
because it is this is not just sort of like
generic football stadium, right, And it's also easier to get
a place lights yeah, lights and uh and hotels and everything. Yeah,

(24:33):
it was this week. We changed our hotel this week
because it was like, well, we're going to want to
be more in this section of town than that section
of town, and it was just you know, I mean
it was heat. But it's like you could get a
perfectly fine hotel room for two hundred dollars in town
the week of the game. So that's one of the
nice advantages of being in a major city is they're
not overwhelmed. This is not You're not going to West

(24:53):
Lafayette where it's like we have three hotel rooms and
two of them are being booked for a different I'm
gonna lay the kid, Ben, So yeah, definitely this is
definitely worth a trip at some point. The uh all right,
so let's talk a little bit about the Ohio State defense.
We've talked a bunch about the Washington offense. You'll have

(25:14):
to stay defense. I talked to Ross Foulton this week
and he talked about the fact that he's expecting more
kind of penny front from them. So you get, you know,
get get five guys on that line of scrimmage, and
you know it's not five defensive lineman. Arvel Reese is
probably one of those guys. But you're gonna see probably
if this feels like a stop the run first contained

(25:35):
demand Williams, don't let him get loose, Don't let Dona
Coleman get loose on the ground, don't let demand Williams
break the pocket, don't let demand Williams get loose, and
you know, pick up some yards on the ground. That
feels like job one for the Ohios Date defense today.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Yeah, and then when you have that you brought with
the one linebacker, you also have Caleb Downs lurking around
as also a clean up linebacker, if if you will,
we know our Carvel Reese has also spied from the
edge spot as well.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
I believe so he can do that. He can.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
There's gonna be some contained but there are also many
times are reabue to c RL Reese back up and
near demand Williams as a spy. I wonder how much
Sunny will do it. I don't know, but yeah, the
key is you're you're clogging up that entire defend that
offensive line with those five guys, but if somebody scorts through,
you've got to have you know, somebody's got to pick

(26:25):
the right gap, or you've got to have failed downs
there to clean it up as well.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Or you know, Jaylen McLane is also on the team, right,
And I would I would sort of prepare yourself mentally
for they're probably gonna give up some twenty yard plays today.
They have not. They've given up uh one twenty yard
run or the longest yard thing of nineteen against Gramblings.
They haven't given up a twenty yard play on the ground,
and I don't think they've given up one through the

(26:49):
air or something like that. I mean, they really have
not given up a lot this season, well the long
the long one against Ohio, but they've been they've been
pretty good in terms of not giving up the big plays.
This feels like a game where you're going to have
a play where things kind of break down and we
get the little backyards football lee. And this is a

(27:09):
Washington team that has players We've talked about mon Williams,
we talked about Joona Coleman, which you talk a little
bit about Bendel Boston their wide receiver. Those are kind
of the big three to know on offense for Washington.
All three of those guys are people who are talented
enough that, Yeah, the Ohiset defense has been very good
this year, very very talented defense, very very well geamed
up by Matt mkrisha. This is also a team that's

(27:30):
talented enough that they're going to make some plays like
prepare yourself for the fact that the halftime score could
be seventeen fourteen or seventeen ten or something like that.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Yeah, it could be the most potential higher State has
given up the season in one half.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
And the other thing to remember.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Is all of these players are used to playing with
Jamond Williams, even so they know what happens at first
may not be what happens when things break down, So
they're used to playing with them when things break down.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
So gramble drill is nothing new for them.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Joan Coleman had one hundred yards receiving Washington State as
an outlet guy, and like ninety five of those were
after the catch, and so you know, just because he
dump it off.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
Doesn't mean it's not going to pick up big yards
because getting.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Him out of space, not that they're trying to, but
sometimes he's just no outlet or a screen guy.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
He's very dangerous.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
But yeah, Denzel Boston's another six or four guy who
can go up and get it one hand, two hands, strong, physical.
That's gonna be a very physical matchup when it's the heat.
And David niggudoson.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
Getting getting together.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
I wonder if there might be some offsetting pis and
things like that going on there and then whoever that's whoever,
whoever has the other receivers.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
You feel like obactually has an advantage there as well. Yeah,
you know all kinda State's corners with Jermaine Matthews, Davis State,
Medosa in the outside, Lorenzo Styles, who is expected to
be back. You know that he was practicing all week,
so there should be no concerns with an issue there
with him with him at the nickel and even Devin
Sanchez at the dime, and then you've got the safeties
we may and earlier tailed down thereel mclaim. The depth

(29:02):
there from Ohio State, I think is better than the
depth in terms of Washington's wide receiver rotation Washington. I
don't think we've talked about Washington's tight ends all week
because they really haven't done much this day building. There's
been like one catch twelve yards kind of things, which
is fine, and maybe move the chains at some point,
but that's not that's not still anything that your Ohio
State is. You know, Matt Macturci's like burning the midnight.

(29:24):
OI will figure out, how do you contain Washington's tight ends? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (29:27):
No, when we do these rewatches upcoming the big opponents,
the guys will pop up and they're like, you know,
we gotta watch it for Gunner. Hell yeah, right, Like
the tight ends will show up and they just didn't
happen when we watched these two Washington games. Let me
ask you, Tom, because I believe Juck said this. Bryan

(29:47):
Day is preparing this game as if it's a.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Magic is it? You don't think so? Because I think
you you know, a matchup game is really two very
talent equated teams. I haven't gone and looked at the
you know, the two four seven talent index or whatever
it is. Ohio. You know, Washington and Ohio State are
not typically recruiting at the same level of the sport.
Washington often had a coaching change a couple of years ago,

(30:11):
so you lost some talent with the transition from Kalin
to board. He brought it in. Jed Fish brought in
a lot of the guys. Yeah. Yeah, the two guys
with the two outside corns that we talked about. McAllister,
the safety. He came in from McLoughlin. Sorry, yeah, Kenner.
McAllister is a different, different player. Uh. J Williams was
pudmitted to Arizona, Yeah and played there. Yeah. And and

(30:35):
uh yeah, McLoughlin he was a Northern Arizona player who
Fish they sort of recruited and offered as a walk
on at Arizona. He had going to Northern Arizona. He's
someone who he wears number twelve. He's someone who you're
gonna want to keep an eye on because he's sort
of just always around the ball. He had a couple
of interceptions last week. He's not someone who is going
to be a first round pick by any means, but

(30:56):
he's just kind of always around the ball. He's the
kind of guy that I'm sure opposing fan base is
find very annoying.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Well, and if he struggles in this one, then the
home fan base made annoying. But he's got a lot
on his plate as sometimes that keep safety in any single,
very high defense that.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
They will Ryan Walters at play of times.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
But when when you're like that, you've got to make
so many players and I.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Get calling it that the Dylanman role up for you,
because that's what it was.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Dylan Thenaman had two outstanding seasons at Purdue. I don't
think that Alex McLoughlin is not Dylanman.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
But he's been okay so far this year.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
This is obviously the biggest test to see how much
ground he can cover because even on one of those
deep catches that lee Roy Bryant gave up, I think
it was Ryan Walter said well he needed safety help
and the safety help wasn't there. So was that was
that a McLoughlin thing? Was that somebody else? It doesn't
necessarily really matter because there now that there there's injuries there.

(31:56):
It's not an ideal situation for the Washington secondary. A
healthy healthy I don't think.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
There's an ideal of situation. Who watch secondary? Yeah, that
that isn't a winning matchup for Washington even if everyone's healthy.
It's a deeply concerning matchup if they're not. And it
sounds like they are probably not. Terry says tumbling on
the field and period through to deport and the crowd
noise compared to Oregon. Yeah, I'm very interested in that.
And we're gonna we're gonna wrap up in a few minutes.
We'll give kind of our score predictions and then we'll

(32:23):
wrapping up. I want to kind of let you look
out the windows at the stadium in the general and
the roof of the roof is angled down towards the field.
And that's kind of interesting because it means if it
rains and the water presumably dumps right on the fan
underneath there, which doesn't seem great. But what that does
do is it angles all the noise back down into
the stadium direction, all right towards the field. It is

(32:45):
the same general principle as Oregon. This is a metal roof,
it is I mean, we were outside. Earlier the band
was just the percussioning folks were playing and it was
incredibly loud because the noise is hitting the roof and
bounce it right back down at us. So yeah, it
is it is willing to be loud loud in here,
and it's.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Up to Ohio State. How long it says that way. Yeah, Well,
they're like in the middle of the field. It feels
like they're right below us. Yeah, that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Yeah, so let's give some thoughts on the game. I
think this is one where Washington's talented enough to hang around.
This could very well be a game at halftime. But
when you get you know, especially with injury to Carrio Davis,
which again Pete, the more reporting is kind of doubtful.
With that injury, I think you're gonna see Washington's gonna

(33:29):
have to decide, Okay, you don't have the guys to
play the man coverage you want to, so now you
get to play more zone. They probably don't have a
real deep zone package because that's not what Brian Lee
Walters really wants to do, so then you're you're sort
of running out of good options at that point, and
you can drop more guys you can. You can play
three dye, but then you're probably gonna get run on.
I don't know that there's a I don't know that

(33:49):
there is a situation where I think Washington holds Ohio
States twenty one points and wins this game twenty four
to twenty one. I just don't I don't see the defense,
especially with the injuries to Buddha as a linebacker and
Ucario Davis the corner. I am struggling to see a
way that they hold the Ohio State into the low twenties,
which is probably where they need to be to win
this game. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
I think turnovers, special teams, steal in possession somewhere there
is what it will take. If I do expect Ohio
State to score, You're gonna need the crowd to cause
some of those issues, which is certainly possible. But I
think Washington needs a little bit of luck. And do
they create that luck? Does it just happen? Is the
drop path here there or whatever?

Speaker 1 (34:28):
They're gonna need Ohio States help with this one. Yeah,
I believe. Yeah. Terry says with Washington having two overhanging
roofs in theory to be twice as loud as giving
the build the at most surround sound effect. I'm do
what was the was it Panasonic? The old magazine ed
where the guys sitting in his chair and the noise
is like blowing him backwards. I feel like that might be.
If Washington can get off to a fast start, you

(34:49):
might have that kind of situation on the sidelines today. Yeah,
and Penn State Sports Talk says they have to be louder,
saying we'll be able to operate with just a good yeah,
you've got it, they've got it something to get Ohio
State out of rhythm on offense Ohio. If you see
ohios Ate running the ball, this it could get late
early for pen for Washington. If Ohio State's able to

(35:09):
run the ball, you know, see if they're averaging five
and a half that you already carry that that's almost
probably say good night racing tide at that. This is the.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Fris Hire State is help Argent. I just don't necessarily
lyst see that half.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Yeah. I don't know that we've seen that from the
Washington devents, but that they can do that, so uh.
For pictions, I went with thirty eight seventeen Ohio State,
and I do think it's probably close for the first half.
You know, as I said, seventeen twenty one and fourteen
and a half time wouldn't surprise me at all. But

(35:44):
then eventually the talent of windowt for high. Yeah, I
went thirty four to twenty four.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
I expect it to be, you know, seventeen points throughout,
not throughout, but like I watched.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Maybe had to win late to make get closer.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
But I feel like I station be comfortable even though
this might be one where it's like it's only seven
points but feels like more.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yeah, throughout the first half something like that. Yeah, all right,
so we're gonna give you a look for around stadium
right now. As we yeah, sorry, it's talk about the audio.
The door keeps opening next to us and then there
then as we said, it gets flowed real quickly. So
all right, so let's we're gonna give you a look
around right now before we wrap things up. So here

(36:28):
is the lookout the window at Lake Washington that they
can see the boats out there already there is some
sale gat and going on state flag boats. So right
there that that's the and then the foreground there is
the Washington Football practice facilities and the Washington golf ball Stadium.

(36:48):
We'll kind of slide down here and uh yeah, this
is what I'm kind of comparing to South stands. This
is actually East stands here in Washington, uh by kind
of the you know, the separate thing from what is
otherwise kind of broadly a horseshoe shaped uh the stadium,
the east end down there, and then over here. See

(37:10):
the Washington Band down on the field. And I mean
that's a long way down there. And as we said,
it is still loud up here. You can you get
a lot of noise up here. Walk down the press
box here to let you get a look down in
the front row before we wrap things up. If you
can sort of see the I'll tell you what. Let's
go on the on the other side long in audible,

(37:33):
You'll let you see the outside the outside the stadium here,
very very pretty area. You can see just Mount Rainier
over there. You can see it. Let's wind up. It's
hard to see because it's uh it's in the in
the clouds over there. But yeah, right, Mount Rainier right
there on the other side of the highway and the

(37:54):
other side of the lake Washington. Get the boats rowing there.
The Washington Growing team there, So we'll go over here.
Let you wrap up. Let you wrap up here with
a look out the front of the press box. Takes

(38:15):
to get down here, so look out the window at
the field. So there you go, Washington Huskie Stadium here
in Seattle, Washington. Quite a setting for football, Quite a
setting for what should be quite a game today. So
we will be back after the game with our usual
postgame coverage at buck a Huddle at YouTube dot com

(38:36):
flash buck a Huddle. Thank you guys all for joining us.
