Speaker 1 (00:11):
The Chat Benson Show.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
It is Turkey time, baby, this is it. This is
our last show before next Tuesday, So we're taking off
the next couple days. But I wanted to make sure
that you guys are prepared for everything that includes the
holiday festivities. Like travel.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Airports are busy, but so far air travel is moving
mostly smoothly, travelers saying the airports seem calm right now.
It's the airlines expect millions of passengers to fly over
the Thanksgiving period. Right now, cancelations are relatively low, with
some weather in Dallas causing problems, mainly for Southwest and
American airlines.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Now, as we all know, it is a crazy time traveling.
That's why you shouldn't do it this time of the year.
But I beg you if you do understand that's sometimes
things happen. It's cold weather, Mother nature. As you know,
nature itself will mess you up. That includes throwing a
wrench into your plants. So it's gonna be chaos out there.

(01:13):
It's gonna be crazy out there, and yes, the weather
will play a part, and we're hearing there's going to
be a massive, huge cold front moving in early December.
Some of it's already arrived.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
No injuries reported, but severe weather causing hundreds of delays
and cancelations at airports in Houston and Dallas across the country.
The TSA expects the screen nearly eighteen million people in
the coming days. Tomorrow and Sunday could be the busiest
days for air travel.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yes, could be huge, and today is supposed to be
the biggest potentially until Sunday. Sunday is supposed to be massive. Now,
all that being said, I want to remind everybody do
not be effing gross.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Maybe dressing with some respect, you know, whether it's appeared,
means and a decent shirt. I would encourage people maybe
dress a little better, which encourage us, encourages us to
maybe behave all a little better.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
That right there is Sean Duffy of the Secretary of Transportation,
Sean Duffy, and he's absolutely right. I implore you to not
be gross. I implore you to not put your bare
feet up on the people in front of you, okay,

(02:31):
right their chair, to not cut your nails toes or
otherwise while you're on the airplane. I also implore you
not to bring disgusting food on the airplane that is
going to stank it up. Okay, please please, it's gross.

(02:54):
You don't need to do it. Nobody needs to know
what your aunt Helen made something special for you. That's
some sort of gooted cheese. It smells like gnarly feet
that we're going to be stuck in this two for
three and a half hours. And this is most important.
It's an airport. Just because you're traveling somewhere doesn't mean

(03:14):
at six point thirty in the morning that you need
to drink for four hours before you get on an airplane.
These are just little tips I'm giving you, guys to
make your travel better. Okay, look, I'm my plane was
delayed and it's an airport, so I'm day drinking. I
had a high ball. Just things I'm putting out to you, Okay, kids,

(03:36):
Little things we're doing to try to help you along
the way. We want you guys to be safe. We
want you guys to have smiles on your faces and
get where you're going safely, because it is important.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
It is.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
And luckily, whether you're traveling via the air or you know,
on the ground, things are flowing pretty good and prices
again also good on the grind out when it comes
to gas.

Speaker 7 (04:02):
We're seeing the stock market fluctuate. Job losses have amounted
this year to the most significant since twenty twenty two.

Speaker 8 (04:08):
But it's not all bad news.

Speaker 7 (04:09):
Gas praises relatively low for their part. Seventy four percent
of respondence to our service said gas praises are not
impacting their travel plans this year, but still there's a
lot of jitter within consumers.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Absolutely, but not jitter when it comes to gas. Gas
prices are down. It's weird the way that we look
at everything. But I'm just putting it out there. So
gas prices are down, opportunity for you to drive, and again,
no day drinking. And I don't care what you do
with your feet inside of the car, that's your own thing.
Just don't put it on your you know, the person

(04:42):
in front of you, just don't put it on their seat.
I've had that. I've had people put their feet on
my arm rest. It's disgusting. And of the other thing.
Unless you're in first class or business, you don't go back,
all right, you don't, you don't. And the reason we're
all snugged in there together, just don't do it. Just

(05:05):
be kind, be nice, smile. Everybody's going through the same
hell you are today, and it sucks. We all understand
that you're going somewhere. You're probably not thrilled. You're gonna
go see your family members. You're gonna go argue with them,
but you're going because you also want to see your
grandma and your aunt and your uncle, and you like them,
and they're okay, and they're good people. But your mom
and dad are fighting over something. Who knows what it is. Okay,

(05:25):
we all get it.

Speaker 8 (05:26):
But think of the food Thanksgiving.

Speaker 9 (05:28):
It's like we didn't even try to come up with
the tradition. The tradition is we overread.

Speaker 6 (05:34):
Hey, how about thanksgive? We just eat a lot.

Speaker 8 (05:38):
We do that every day.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
What if we eat a lot with people annoy the
hell out of us.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Oh he's the anti family. No, he's not anti family,
but he's right people that annoy us. That's why I
understand the stress. That's why I stay home. I understand
the stress. That's why I do nothing. We've got our
our day's planned. It's going to be so nice. But
I will say this, You're going to be meeting family

(06:06):
members and there is more and more nerves this year
than there has been for the for the last really
several years. Right, so Trump the first year Trump got
into office, Let's be real, remember, everybody's like, I'm never
gonna see my failue again, all the freaking out about
it because Trump, You've ever trap's evil, You're bad, I
hate you, Okay, okay, And then you know, it slowed

(06:28):
down a little bit. You had one year was okay,
and then COVID came and kind of jacked the pooch
for everything, and everybody just wanted to get together because
what was going on. And then Biden got in office
and everybody's like, oh, it's great, we can go see
this and whatever. Now Trump's back, and so expect there
to be situations again.

Speaker 10 (06:45):
Liberals seem to be ghosting conservative family members this holiday
season over their politics, and one man has had enough
of it.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Q Bill Maher a new.

Speaker 11 (06:55):
Rule happy Thanksgiving. I can't believe that even that now
is a political issue. It is a real shame. What's
happened to this holiday which used to be all about
the good f's food, friends, family, football, fun, and now.

Speaker 12 (07:13):
It's full.

Speaker 11 (07:16):
You're not even invited because you've voted for the wrong person.
I'm so tired of liberals ghosting half this country. Whoever's
doing it, it's got to stop.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
It, does it?

Speaker 13 (07:26):
Is?

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I have family members and friends who I love dearly,
and they are on the different political aisle what most
people are because I'm just me.

Speaker 14 (07:34):
But they are.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
All over the place politically, they're all over the place
in so many different things. But they're family, they're friends.
You remember the good times and hope there's more, and
realize that people vote. Don't make it personal. It's hard.
I get it because well, algorithms or whatever. Just to go,
you know what, I'm gonna go have fun. I've to

(08:00):
talk about politics. I'm not gonna talk about anything other
than the things that I want to talk about that
are fun. We've allowed politics to creep into our life
in such a way that we're choosing fans and family
members to get rid of. You know, it was Jimmy
Kimmel is you know Kimmel's wife doesn't like his maga

(08:20):
relative and they're freaking hey it, come on, for God's sakes. This,
by the way, I always say this, is that that
uncle or that family member that would have done anything
for you and has done anything for you, that's the
person that would run into the fire for you. That's
the person that would that had your mom and dad
look in the other way because you got away with
something and he didn't or she didn't want to get

(08:41):
you in trouble. That we allow this crap to become
too much crap. So all I'm saying this year is
just put it aside. Okay, we're just trying. We want
to eat turkey, want to get fluffy, want to enjoy ourselves,
and spend way too much money on craft that we
don't need.

Speaker 15 (08:58):
Okay, but they will come I mean it absolutely will
come up because this is where we are as a society.
I have people in my family who don't speak. I
think people across the country have extended family members that
they know that are not speaking. I even know a
woman whose daughter is pregnant, and she's like, I just
don't know that I'll ever meet the baby. Folks, politics

(09:18):
is not this valuable. You should definitely spend time with
your family and be like the Republicans, throw it all
to the side for the family fun and festivities and
have a happy Thanksgiving with your family.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Absolutely, again, we're doing everything we can to get you
through these next couple days. As the chaos is ensuing, Right,
You're going to go see that uncle. It's going to
show up like he's a bit racist or he doesn't
like women or whatever. And you know, you're going to
see your crazy ant that's super maga. And then you're

(09:52):
going to see your niece that has gone off the
college and she's come back and she's a theay them
now and she's got purple hair and all of this,
and she's she refused to eat meat. She's gonna tell
everybody how horrible you are because you guys are having
a turkey. Don't let it bother you. It's family. We
don't get to choose some kids. We don't do you
know what. We can love them because they put up

(10:13):
with our crap, and lord knows, there's a plenty of crap.
Three two, three, five, three eight, twenty four, twenty three

Speaker 1 (13:09):
You're listening to the Chad Bencon Show.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Sometimes as a gift that keeps given the whole year.
And first of all, the who will run for Senate
or won't run for Senate in Texas is always interesting,
right You got Jazzmine Crockett and she's thinking about it.

Speaker 16 (13:27):
I am still thinking about running. We did get our
pulling back, so we are moving on to the next
phase to determine whether or not this is what makes
sense in the moment, and if the infrastructure can be
built out in the way that I see it being
necessary to actually be able to win, as well as
we are continuing to look at the polling on the
other side. Listen, they are in a civil war right

(13:50):
now on the Republican side as it relates to who
will become their nominee. You know, John Cornyn has served
the state of Texas for decades at this point in
time in some capacity, and right now, you know, I
don't know if he's maga enough to make it through
his primary, but we are evaluating all things and seeing

(14:10):
what it would look like to put together a team,
and we will make a final decision by Thanksgiving on
whether or not we're gonna ultimately move forward.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
So you got old Jasmine Crockett there, the gift that
keeps on giving the whole year, all the time. Never
know what she's gonna say, right, Like she loves the
other day she ousted some Republican because Jeffrey Epstein gave
him money. And then you found out it's a guy
just named Jeffrey Epstein. And she's like, well, and what
do you think of that? I'm like, we don't because
that's just what But you know what, you have fun.

(14:40):
The Republicans are like, you know what? You think you
got somebody? How about this guy running in Texas as
well as a Republican? You might remember now you're thinking, Okay,
who's this political superstar?

Speaker 17 (14:51):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Boy, is he awesome?

Speaker 18 (14:53):
Hi?

Speaker 19 (14:53):
It's fence with sham wow.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Excuse me? What was that again?

Speaker 19 (14:56):
Hi, it's fence with sham wow.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Wait wait wait wit the sham wow guy?

Speaker 20 (14:59):
Hi, it's vinced with sham wow. You'll be saying wow
every time you use this towel. It's like a chammy
it's like a towel.

Speaker 19 (15:06):
It's like a funge. A regular towel doesn't work wet.
This works wet or dry.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
This is for the house, the car, the boat.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
The RV.

Speaker 20 (15:12):
Sham Wow holds twenty times. It's wait and liquid. Look
at this, It just does the work. Why do you
want to work twice as hard? Doesn't trip, doesn't make
a mess, ring it out, you wash it in the
washing machine.

Speaker 19 (15:22):
Maybe Germany? You know the Germans always make good stuff.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Oh, yeah, they do. By the way, you want to
hear one of his opening videos of why he's running
in Texas in a congressional district where he believes he
thinks he can win. He's probably not gonna win over
a guy who's eighty what four three two, three, five
three eight twenty four twenty three at Chad Benson Show
is your ex You're insta YouTube, Facebook and morph Missy show.

(15:46):
Get the podcast Rader of the Chad Benson Show. That's right, Chad,
eighty four year old John Carter. Not like the movie.
John's been there since eighteen forty three. So Vince from
shamw Wow. What's gonna be your platform? The Wolf churches
are after our kids.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Nuts.

Speaker 6 (16:04):
Not no more.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
We're not chopping nuts.

Speaker 13 (16:06):
You're gonna love your nuts with a ShamWow guy.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
You gotta love your nuts with the ShamWow guy. All
joking aside, and it's hard not to joke. Okay, how
did we get here? I mean, he can't just be
all Donald Trump. I mean it feels like it is.
But the media has played a role. We played a
role that we're in this position where sham wow guy

(16:33):
who's gonna hey, you gonna love your nuts is running
for Congress against a guy who's eighty four and decided
I'm gonna run again. I represent the Neanders. I mean,
this guy is eighty four. I'm just I don't know.

(16:53):
I don't know. Why isn't he retiring because boomers aren't
retiring story I SS all the other day and they
have a chance to get to it yesterday. Boomers are
not retiring factory to stay on longer and longer because
they're living longer and they don't have enough money. Not
a shocker. I just it is bizarre, right that we're
in this position where the shamwaw guy, doctor oz herschel
Walker just, I you know, I don't even know at

(17:17):
this point in time where we are Sometimes I'm thinking
maybe we just need a hole full. Is there a
reset button like they have underneath the sink or the
garbage disposal? Coming up my clions military analysts, We're going
to talk about all things military. What does he think
of the twenty eight point plan put forth by the
White House in the Russia Ukraine war, among other things

(17:38):
that straight ahead Chad Benson.

Speaker 8 (17:39):
Show, Son Chad Benson Show, The Chad.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Benson Show that time of the week.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
We talked to man that we're very thankful for tired
major the Army and the best damn military analyst period.
Case closed. Mike Lines joined the program, and man, there
is a lot to talk about. First, let's talk about Ukraine.
The twenty eight point plan deal that seemed to be
put together without Ukraine. What's your take on this one.

Speaker 21 (18:24):
Hetchi, I great to be with you.

Speaker 22 (18:26):
You know, a twenty eight point anything would never work,
especially when it comes to negotiating a peace agreement between
two countries that are warring. So from initially when I
first heard of it, I said, something is way off
with this, and you dig into it and there's just
so many things in this that are just not in

(18:46):
Ukraine's favor on any level that they won't agree to.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Now.

Speaker 22 (18:50):
I get the negotiation, I get all that, but really
nothing's changed in the last months since we've been talking
about the situation on the ground. No Tomahawks have showed up,
No treat missiles, no NATO, no fly zones, no other
security guarantees for Ukraine have showed up. So this to me,
unfortunately looks like a deal that the administration is trying

(19:11):
to do to get another.

Speaker 21 (19:12):
Deal in its cap.

Speaker 22 (19:14):
But overall, top to bottom, it's just not something that
Ukraine we can't accept on any level, and also given
the current situation on the ground, they're keeping Russia from
breaking through. We talk more about the drone situation that
the drones are at a new level with regard to
how they're being operated.

Speaker 21 (19:34):
On both sides.

Speaker 22 (19:35):
Russia's actually had some real advances on their drone warfare
side as well.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
The drone side of it, because let's be real, Ukraine
got really innovative early into this where they were just
buying stuff off essentially Amazon, creating their own little bombs
and drones that weren't very high tech, but at a
time when guerrilla warfare seems to be the thing that
was really the most important part of.

Speaker 22 (19:57):
That, that's right, And they used a lot of this
technology that the Russians now have come back with electronic
warfare capability in order to knock a lot of them
out of the sky. They were using the principle of
wars just mass throwing a lot of drones at the Russians.

Speaker 21 (20:13):
But the Russians have evolved. They have this whole unit.

Speaker 22 (20:16):
Now it's called Rubicon, that they have incredibly accurate drones.
They have them tethered with fiber optics. If there are
places now in Ukraine, then there's so many fiber optic
strands out there that it looks like the whole field
is covered with plastic.

Speaker 21 (20:35):
So tethered drone is something unusual, but it doesn't.

Speaker 22 (20:40):
It gives highly accurate signals back to its operator as
well as making it impervious to any kind of electronic
warfare a tacta going against it. So the Russians have
flipped that equation on its head a little bit, and
then they've become just as good at the drone game
as Ukraine is. And so far this is the entire
battlefield is just saturated with this technology Talking.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
To Mikelines, military expert, we talk about what's going on
in right now the eastern part of Europe with the
battle chill between Ukraine and Russia. I saw several people
yesterday talk about this, this thing that they're trying to
put together. This it seemed like, you know, somebody said,
it feels like it's a Christmas wishless for Putin that
isn't going to happen. But what's the real like if

(21:25):
you and I have been talking about this since the
you know, before they invaded, and you've always said this
will be land for peace, right and how much land
is the question? But right now I still don't feel
like Putin has any reason to stop doing what he's doing.

Speaker 21 (21:39):
He doesn't.

Speaker 22 (21:40):
And part of this agreement would mean that Russia would
gain land that they technically haven't conquered yet.

Speaker 21 (21:48):
And that's what the concern would be here.

Speaker 22 (21:50):
From Ukraine's perspective, they have to be concerned about the
next attack that was going to happen. Russia has what's
called interior lines and a lot of this area in
Haunts and the Dunask region, and they can easily reinforce
and for it creates a situation on Ukraine. If they're
going to defend, their having much more challenges, and if

(22:13):
they give some of this land back that that that
Russia wants in this deal, it'll make it even worse.

Speaker 21 (22:20):
And so it's one thing to freeze this in place.

Speaker 22 (22:23):
But right now Russia continues to try to move forward,
continues to try to, you know, create the situation, making
it better for themselves. If you look on a map,
it's kind of this very jagged border that would exist
right now. Russia wants to round that whole thing off,
which would make it much more difficult for Ukraine to defend.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Okay, so let's just say, for the sake of argument,
we say we're done. You didn't sign anything. We threw
something out there, even though it may be bad. What
is the what is their options is? You know, the
Europeans are still very nervous about what's going on in Russia.
What is their options if we step away from this.

Speaker 22 (23:00):
Well, you know, Ukraine thinks it can still grind this
thing out, and it probably can for a few more years,
and it would it would you know, this could eventually
go on for many many years. Russia can't break through,
They can't mass they can't bring other principles of war
to this battle, but they can continue to try to
bleed out Ukraine in this manner. The rest of Europe

(23:25):
is still unwilling to provide the level of technology as
well as you know, kinetic support right now that in
order for them to go on the offensive in order
to really strike back at Russia.

Speaker 21 (23:38):
So I don't know.

Speaker 22 (23:39):
I don't think the US will abandoned Ukraine. I think
that would be politically unviable right now, given how long
this has gone on. And but Trump is, as we've
talked about, did not think that the Tomahawks would provide
this leverage, and I don't think he thinks any military
solution provides any more leverage, which is why he's demanding
a deal to get done.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Talking to my client's military analysts, we have him on
the show every Tuesday, talk about all things military. Venezuela. Obviously,
you know you've said, look, the army's not there yet,
which is good, but there still feels like something is
getting ready to go down.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
Now.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
We're telling planes don't even not only don't even fly
over Venezuela airspace, be careful around Colombia, Gayana and all
these other places. It feels like something's coming. It's not if,
but when and what does it look like.

Speaker 22 (24:25):
I had a good conversation with i'll just say very
high retired classmate of mine who ran a very large operation.
His concern was, and I agree with this, that you know,
they've got professionals down there in the military that know
exactly what they're doing, and they're maneuvering large ships and
there's all kinds of moving parts going to this. Well,

(24:46):
it could still go sidewise pretty quickly on a couple
of different levels. You know, obviously the performative projecting of
power down there, I think a lot of it. Also
is sending messages to China and Russia as well. If
about encroaching in this hemisphere, we know the Chinese are
trying to you know, leak their way into into South America.
But this could still go sideways if something goes wrong.

(25:08):
Given the amount of military operations and things that we
have there, Now, what does a ground war look like there?
Again unfathomable at any level. The Army's not there. The
marines that we have there would not be enough in
order to ensure victory without any kind of large scale
casualties that that could possibly happen, But right now it
looks like pressure on Maduro to leave. I don't know

(25:31):
what that means either, because just you know, in one leaves,
we don't know what's going to follow him right now,
but this is maybe the beginning of their conversation about
putting the drug traffic down, but we have to remain
remains to be seen whether that's been impacted at all.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
And the whole Maduro thing, I mean, he's getting it
from Colombia and several others because their fear, right like
everybody's fear, is because I've seen several simulations they've run.
They've all said the same thing. It becomes chaos there
and it becomes a civil war, and then there's several
different little civil wars, and then it spill spills over
into two Colombia and several other places. I mean that
is you know, that's why everybody seems to be kind

(26:07):
of going, hey, Maduro, take all the gold, take all
the money you have, and just get the hell out
of dodge.

Speaker 21 (26:14):
Well.

Speaker 22 (26:14):
And you know that that means a reset for that country.
And you know Venezuela is, you know, sits on a
tremendous amount of rare earth minerals. I think that could
be the other strategic plot here. This this administration does
look over the horizon, recognizes that the sooner we don't
have any dependencies on China for earth minerals and in

(26:35):
other countries for any kind of energy. It's just going
to be you know, the best in our in our
in our interests, so that that could possibly be what's
happening here. But again, you know, invading a sovereign nation
like this, so I don't think that's that's going to
go over very well with h with our allies and
with with other of those countries in the in the
in South America.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Talking to my clients military analysts, as we talk about
all things military, I think you would be us not
to talk about the fact that would you make of
the likes of Mark Kelly and several others saying you
guys don't have to obey illegal orders, you know, and
then you hear you've got these people saying it's treason
or this, that and the other. You have other people
saying we swear an oath to the Constitution, not to

(27:16):
the president. I mean, this is becoming a political battle
that's happening. And it's an interesting thing because most people
don't want us to do anything into Venezuela. I don't
know if I'd have handled it the way that they're handling.

Speaker 22 (27:27):
It, right I you know this, Yeah, both sides are
all talking past each other with this. I do think
that was ill advised and a story has not gotten
away from last week. And now you saw Secretary Hecseeth
deciding he wants to investigate Mark Kelly and all the
different comparatives to this being a CIA op and the like.

(27:48):
You know, it is some akin to somebody saying, you know,
please stop beating your wife. If you're beating your wife,
I didn't think it was necessary. But but you know,
the thing about illegal orders and legal orders, everybody knows
what they are, especially in the military, and no one's
going you know, the last time this probably happened was
a boot rob in that prison situation that that where

(28:12):
the Iraqi prisoners were tortured. That's that's likely when the
last time when I'm not sure if that was the
orders being followed or that was just misguided officers and
n c O s you know, doing doing the wrong
thing there. But in terms of you know, they use
this key term about don't give up the ship. That's
it's an interesting phrase because as a soldier, you're required

(28:33):
to obey a legal order, and a legal order might
be sometimes you got to take that hill, and you
might not want to take that hill, but that's a
legal order. Don't give up the ship was on their motto,
and that that came from a legal order that was
given by a Navy captain back in the you know,
seventeen hundreds from the United States, and it was about
don't giving up the ship even though they were going
to get run over. So I think that's the message

(28:56):
that people heard, and that's what the Navy heard, they heard,
you know, when that was put out there. So but overall,
I don't think this is going away anytime soon. Now again,
I have no problem. I'm assuming we're not attacking these
drug boats in the Caribbean as well as the Pacific
without jag and legal review.

Speaker 21 (29:15):
That's just part of everything that the military does these days,
I hope.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
So, I mean, I think that's a big worry that
a lot of these people were not quite sure exactly
what's on there, and they don't feel like there's some
due process, which is you look understandable because you know,
it's one of those things I heard of several other
you know, people have served for years say the same thing.
It's it's never the people that order it that end
up getting in trouble.

Speaker 22 (29:36):
Legal orders, and you know, soldiers know what they are
and who can give them and how they operate, and
it's officers and toos.

Speaker 21 (29:44):
I think in some ways this has been a good discussion.

Speaker 22 (29:46):
People recognize that, you know, this is a time for
civilians to talk about UCMJ and how that works, how
the constitution works, how the loyalty goes. It's always been
that way, the loyalties to the constitution.

Speaker 21 (29:57):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 22 (29:58):
One thing that you think about it, you know, take
a loyalty to the constitution. But you know you've got
political parties that want to change the constitution pretty radically.
I think, you know, that's another discussion that you know,
military people are going to eventually have to come to
grips with them.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Talking to my client's military analysts, the guy is the
best day military analyst in the business. Any big plans
for the Thanksgiving week, no chat.

Speaker 22 (30:18):
I have my alternate job of doing some NHL hockey
games and seeing my brother, my sister's coming in, so
the four of us, the sibs and the sibs all
get together watch some football and then, you know, be
grateful for this amazing country that we have, as we say,
coming on two hundred and fifty years and just just
very grateful for all I get to do and get
to talk to you and and and talk about the

(30:41):
military and about how our great country is.

Speaker 21 (30:43):
And I really appreciate you give me the opportunity.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Well, we are thankful for you. Brother. You have yourself
a safe well, a safe Thanksgiving and have fun at
the hockey games.

Speaker 21 (30:50):
Yeah, chat you tune now, we'll talk soon.

Speaker 18 (32:18):
If you liked talk radio like Chad Benson likes his meals,
you've come to the perfect place for takeout Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Indeed, if you had apparently somebody who liked to collect
comic books and kept them in the addict.

Speaker 6 (32:34):
Hick, how about this?

Speaker 17 (32:35):
A vintage, high grade copy of a forgotten Superman comic
book set a record at an auction back on Thursday
of last week. Superman number one, that's it there from
nineteen thirty nine sold for a little over nine million dollars.
It was at Heritage Auctions. The auction house says the
comic book was found last year by three brothers who

(32:57):
were cleaning out the attic of their late mother's California homes.
You had it up there all this time. It was
only protected by a stack of old newspapers. It was
in a cardboard box, infect but the condition was still good.
Drew a nine on a ten point grating scale for
comic books. The comics closing price makes it the most
expensive comic book ever sold at auction.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
Nerds spend that much money on comic books. Think about that,
My goodness, me and I.

Speaker 23 (33:25):
Think what actually really added to the story was how
it was found. That this was, you know, a new
find that no one had ever seen before.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
It looked like it was in great shape. Think about
all the stuff right that could have gone wrong in
that scenario. So Mom's got that up there, You're going
through it. You're looking and you find it and he's like,
oh my god, look what we have here. Right, Like,
I don't know what they're I don't know if they knew,

(33:57):
you know, because again I have no idea. They may
have been just like me. I mean, I would have
recognized so got that Superman nineteen thirty nine that I
would have called my uncle a meeting and go, hey, nerd,
I found this, and he'd be like, don't touch it.
I'll be there. I'm getting on a plane now. So
I don't know if they were nerds enough to understand
what they had found. But think about all of the
stuff that could have gone wrong rain right, it's California house.

(34:23):
Probably old could have leaked got in there, messed the
whole damn thing up. Oh yeah, right, just stuff on
top of it, rats, mice gnawing at stuff, all the
stuff that could have gone wrong. But it didn't.

Speaker 23 (34:39):
They found it in the attic in San Francisco area
while they were cleaning out her mother's house, and it
ended up being an unbelievable condition.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
That's I mean, that's fine of a lifetime right there.
And it's San Francisco too, So the dampness. It's cooler up.
I mean again, think about the stuff. But now they
get to split three million each. I guess a little
over that three where they get nine and a half million.
So yeah, I don't know what the cut is from
Southern Beach, but there they're doing all right. I mean

(35:14):
it's a Thanksgiving. They got enough money to buy a
studio apartment in Oakland. So there's that three two, three, five,
three eight, twenty four, twenty three at Chad Benson Show
is your Acts, your Insta, your YouTube, your Facebook, and

(35:35):
all the other great things that we have available on
the old social media. If you miss any of the show,
make sure you grabbed the podcast. Helps us out right
here on the Chad Benson Show. Coming up, our number
two of the program, more on the economy, Thanksgiving travel, travel,
It is crazy out there. Also speaking of the travel yesterday,

(35:58):
Sean Duffy, that's our transportation secretary. He spoke and he
gave some tips out. We're also going to echo some
of those tips and tricks that you should be making
sure you use during this travel season to not be
an a hole. Talk a bit about that. More on
the epic fail. I guess it I think it's safe
to say it's an epic fail. Little Komi James thing

(36:21):
that pretty much kind of was and got your urban work,
among other things, our number two straight ahead Chad Benson Shop.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
This is the Chad Benson Show, the Chad Benson Show.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
So we got black Friday and Cyber Monday. What will
we spend? How much will we spend? Will spending be
a part of our holiday season? Of course it is,
but let's be real. People are uneasy about the economy.
I don't care what Trump says. I don't care what
Bessen says or Howard Lutnick or any of these. I

(37:21):
talk to people every day. I was out somewhere yesterday
at a so I did my my show in the morning,
as I do, and then I went and I did
an event raising Bunny for the Nashville Rescue Mission. It's
a good place to talk to people about, you know,

(37:41):
how much donations are getting, how much donations they need,
Is it up? Is it down? It's up. People are struggling.
That's not some myth. It's not pretend. It is reality. Okay,
And I'm not sitting here trying to go Oh, by
the way, Trump's the worst or whatever. I mean, you
make up your mind how you feel about things. It's

(38:02):
the gas lighting and the reality is things are more
expensive people feel. It doesn't mean we're not going to spend,
because we are, because that's what we do. It's kind
of our jam.

Speaker 24 (38:12):
How do Americans feel about inflation, how it's impacting their lives.

Speaker 25 (38:16):
They think prices are rising, rising, rising, and it's across
different Look at this, I mean, just your curse are
up versus a year ago. Grocery is eighty five percent,
utilities seventy eight percent, healthcare sixty seven percent, housing sixty
six percent, gasoline fifty four percent. The bottom line is this,
Americans feel like prices are rising in each and every

(38:38):
single part of their lives, rising ever climber, and they
just don't feel, like Kate Baldwin that they can catch
a break.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
And that's the big thing. Can you catch a break?
Can you catch a break? They're looking around and they're
trying to figure out where is the break, When is
it happening. It's the old adage we've talked to and
we did this all the time with Biden. You're eight
minutes from the surface, You've got five minutes of air
you're trying to figure out how you can serve that

(39:09):
air to get to the surface. That's what you're trying
to do.

Speaker 24 (39:12):
The Treasury Secretary of New comments kind of dismiss the
impact tariffs is having on inflation, also saying the prices
are going to be coming down in weeks. Some of
the prices are going to be coming down in months.
What do Americans think about them?

Speaker 25 (39:22):
Yeah, they think he's full of it.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
That's exactly what they think.

Speaker 25 (39:24):
I mean, just take a look here, tri raising prices,
are raising prices right now, cover kate side of the screen.
Seventy one percent.

Speaker 8 (39:32):
How dare I do that?

Speaker 25 (39:33):
Eighty four percent of Democrats, seventy four percent of Independence
and even a majority of Republicans. When you can get
a majority of Republicans who agree with majority of Democrats,
you know that the pain is being felt by the
American public right now. The Treasury Secretary can try and
tell the people something, but they can feel in their pocketbooks.
They simply put, don't buy what he and this administration

(39:56):
is selling.

Speaker 26 (39:56):
And when it comes to.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
Tarras and that right there is so important because it
is the thing that we have talked about, which is
you can tell me this and how I should feel.
I can then turn and look into my bank account
and say what you're saying doesn't give to what I'm seeing,

(40:22):
what I'm feeling. You're saying I shouldn't feel what I'm seeing, though,
says I should feel that way. Oh yeah, we just
want honesty, you know.

Speaker 24 (40:32):
And Harry, one thing we've heard over and over again
is the President and many of those around him blaming
the Biden administration for where inflation is right now, do
people agree with that?

Speaker 25 (40:46):
No, no, no, no, you know what, I want to
quote Judge Judy, but I'm not going to.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
I'm merely going to.

Speaker 25 (40:54):
Try and say, it's like they're trying to sell ice
up at the North Paul. When it comes to this
more responsible for the current economy, sixty two percent of
Americans say it's Donald Trump.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
Just thirty two percent say it's Joe Biden.

Speaker 25 (41:04):
Look, Donald Trump did, in fact inherit an economy from
Joe Biden. But now we are nearly a year into
the Donald Trump administration. If the Trump administration is trying
to push push the buck over there, that simply put,
the American folks aren't buying it.

Speaker 12 (41:18):
They say at this point. It is Donald Trump's.

Speaker 25 (41:20):
Economy and what is happening in terms of inflation is
his responsibility.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
And that's what you have to go with. At some
point in time, you wanted to be the man. You're
now the man. All right, there is crossover. I'm not
saying's supposed to be perfect, but one of the other
things is right. When we talked about Ukraine a lot
of other stuff, Trump made massive promises I'll fix the
economy day one. I never really bought that, but now

(41:47):
we're heading into ten months and people are looking at him.
I'm going to stop the war in Ukraine day one.
It'll be done before maybe I even get in to
the position of president. These are things that he is
done and the promises they've made, and people are frustrated.
Remember there's a loyal base of MAGA. They're not going anywhere,

(42:12):
but the Republicans Independents, those are the ones you look at,
you know, the ones they would call Rhino, you know,
in name only, which is not true because they're not conservative.
Maga's not conservative. Maga is just MAGA. But look at
the Independence for the most part, that's where the people are.
And with all this going on, you have the ACA.

(42:32):
A lot of people thought he was going to roll
something out yesterday. Why because the Republicans are worried they're
going to get boat raced. I'm hearing from several people
that I know, some of which are congress people, who
said there's more retirements coming and they may come fast.

(42:52):
People are frustrated. People think that they're going to get
boat raced next year. They feel like they've put and
it been put in an untenable position in some ways,
that's on them, and that they don't want to be
a party to this anymore. And you've got the ACA,

(43:13):
which is going to be a real big battle.

Speaker 27 (43:16):
Multiple reports say the White House is preparing a plan
that would extend Obamacare subsidies for another two years.

Speaker 25 (43:23):
Now.

Speaker 27 (43:23):
You'll recall those subsidies were the main factor behind the
recent government shut down. They expire at the very end
of this year. But Trump's plan would reportedly impose new
restrictions on who's eligible for those subsidies. The restrictions would
include income caps. Enrollees would also be required to make
a minimum payment.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
So this is going to be interesting because people are
worried about cost and the Republicans have said for years
we have a fix. They've never had a fix. We've
talked about it before. They're good at foreign policy, they're
good at cutting your taxes im gration, they're bad at healthcare.

(44:03):
They've never been good at healthcare. And you've got some
that want this thing to die. Let it die, Let
it die. We're going to show everybody how bad Obamacare is.
But if you're running for reelection and this is going
to land on your head, that's the last thing you want.

Speaker 27 (44:20):
Many Republicans on Capitol Hill are voicing outrage at the
idea of extending the subsidies. They want to scrap Obamacare altogether,
saying it's too expensive and inefficient. But of course the
clock is ticket with those subsidies expiring in just over
a month.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
All of these things brings you to the point where
you think, okay, so what are they going to do
with this? Right, You've got the economy. People are frustrated.
Now there's a chance that here in six weeks they're
going to see their premium spike tremendously. You're going to
have unrast people of pissed. I mean, you see where
we're going with this. This is this is a serious

(44:57):
issue for the Republicans, and they better figure out how
to pivot. They better figure out what to do. You
better deliver a plan that doesn't see you know, eleven
million Americans loser health care, the other ones get frustrated,
prices go through the roof, and you're standing there. You
didn't break it, and I've said that from the beginning,

(45:18):
and the Democrats are like, they own it out, No,
you own it, but you need to get with them
to fix it because now they own a piece of it.
But you guys are the ones we hired, So get
your ass in there and do your job.

Speaker 19 (45:34):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
Do your job, your job. Nobody wants to hear about excuses.
They want to hear about solutions. Nobody wants to hear
about well, you know, we had to do it for
this reason, or we had to know. People want to
know we came in there, we put our heads together.
We didn't care about the credit. We cared about getting
things done for the American people. That was going to

(45:56):
be the best solution that we could come up with,
that wasn't going to saddle the American people in a
way that made it untenable, unaffordable for them to get healthcare.
That they were going to roll the dice. I mean,

(46:17):
I'm waiting for somebody, and I'm surprised there's not somebody
coming out going Well, if I were you, guys, I
think the best way to save money on healthcares don't
get sick. Just don't get sick. You're welcome, good night.
Well that's not very nice. Meanwhile, swinging amiss.

Speaker 3 (46:41):
Federal Judge Cameron Curry based her rulings on the law,
which is that when a top federal prosecutor's role in
the judicial district is left vacant for more than one
hundred and twenty days, only the district court can fill it.
As a result, Curry has dismissed the indictments Lindsay Halligan
brought against Letitia James and James call me the former
FBI director fund It online.

Speaker 14 (47:00):
I'm grateful that the court ended the case against me,
which was a prosecution based on malevolence and incompetence.

Speaker 3 (47:07):
A White House spokeswoman says the dismissals will not be
the final word.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
I don't know about Letitia James. I think they're going
to try something in with Kmy. The issue with komy
as statute of limitations, but Pondy and them have put
this lady in a situation she should never have been in.
She was ill prepared and ill equipped to take this on.

(47:35):
She was in over her head. This isn't her gig,
this isn't her jam. And what it shows is your
wont to get at somebody and your vengeance to do so.
You're willing to try anything, and instead of measuring twice
and cutting once, you decided just to guess. And this

(47:58):
is what happens. Let me know to thank three two three,
twenty four, twenty three at Chad Benson shows your acts,

Speaker 1 (49:42):
Chad Benson Joe, you're listening to the Chad Benson Show.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
Remember as you get ready to travel, today gonna be busy.

Speaker 8 (49:59):
Tomorrow be the busiest day.

Speaker 5 (50:01):
There'll be fifty two thousand flights tomorrow as Americans board
aircraft fly across the country. Maybe they even go to
sporting events, they're going on vacation, or hopefully they're going
to spend time with their families.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
They're right there, Sean Duffy yesterday. But he wants to
remind everybody dress for success, maybe dressing.

Speaker 5 (50:23):
With some respect, you know, whether it's a pair of
jeans and in a decent shirt. I would encourage people
to maybe dress a little better, which encourage us, encourages
us to maybe behave all a little better.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Don't be gross, don't be gross. And you know what
he's right about this. Nobody wants to see your feet.
Nobody wants your feet on their chair. Okay, nobody wants
any of that, So don't be gross. That's what he's asking.
Shouldn't be this hard. I don't want to see your belly.

(51:00):
I don't want to see your fake boobs. I mean, look,
I'm a dude. But it's a plane. Okay, so let's
just all I I don't want to smell your crappy
food that you packed. Okay, we're all stuck in this
damn tube. It's already stressful enough. I got in a flight, god,

(51:21):
it had to be about eight ten years ago something
like that. Flew from lax to uh to Missouri Springfield,
and the person in front of us had the worst
food I had ever smelled in my life. It was
to the point where, you know, like when somebody goes

(51:42):
and decides that they're going to cook fish at work
in the microwave. It was that for like three and
a half hours. But it wasn't fish. It was some
bizarre cheese.

Speaker 4 (51:55):
It was.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
You're on a tube, be respectful. Shouldn't be that damn hard.
It's all we're saying. Okay, we're just give you a
little tips here.

Speaker 26 (52:05):
We're past the laps. Controllers are back at work. They're
excited to be back on the job. They're excited to
be compensated to be back on the job. So we're
all thrilled that. We're happy to tell you we've got
a great plan.

Speaker 2 (52:17):
Plans in place. Is their super Bowl, So I'd like
to say three two, three, five, three eight twenty four,
twenty three at Chat Benson Show. Is your ex, your Insta,
your YouTube and more? If you're missing the show, grab
the podcast helps us out right here on the Chad
Benson Show. But I'm giving you some tips. Nobody wants
to see your damn feet. Nobody wants to smell you.

(52:40):
Nobody wants your feet on their chair. Don't lean back.
It was fine twenty five years ago when there was
some space. It's not anymore. And for the love for
all that is holy, nobody wants to smell your crappy
ass food. Can't believe you what that mean? Just being honest,

(53:05):
Just being honest, because then you're gona end up on
the internet. There's gonna be a fight. We're gonna go
ah my goodness, it's crazy. Oh one more thing. We
get that there's weather to lace. We get that you
showed up and your flight was supposed to take off
at eight and it's now one thirty. You do not
have to drink from eight o'clock. It's the only place

(53:26):
we go in the world. It's like eight o'clock seems
good for a highball? What day drinking? We don't want
your drunk ass on an airplane. Okay, we don't. You
don't need to drink from the time you get in
the airport to the time you get on the airplane
where you're absolutely hammered. Oh maybe he's right about that.

(53:50):
It is weird though, Right, we'll go to the airport.
It's the only place of the world where we going like,
you know what, seven thirty, I got a flight at nine,
I let's probably have a screw driver or four. Not me,
but others three two, three, five, three, eight, twenty four,
twenty three at Chad Benson Show. Is your ex, your Insta,
your YouTube, your Facebook and Mork you're miss any of

(54:13):
the show, you know, we say, shame on, You've got
the podcast. We'll be live tonight on the old YouTube
as well. And remember we're off until next Tuesday. It
is the Chad Benson.

Speaker 28 (54:23):
Shown, Chad Benson Show, The Chad Benson Show.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
Why can't kids read? That is a fair question. And
years ago they decided not to be hooked on phonics
anymore and they decided to do something different where they're like,
you know what, we were teaching these kids to read.
The best thing that we can do is to stop that.
And we'll just We'll let them make up their own words.

Speaker 29 (55:02):
Did you guys know that Jen Alpha can't read.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
My child is in the second grade and can't read.

Speaker 2 (55:07):
I think he's seventh grade. They are still performed on
the fourth grade level.

Speaker 12 (55:10):
Over the past thirty years, many American children stopped learning
to read.

Speaker 11 (55:15):
Around forty percent of our fourth graders can't read at
a basic level.

Speaker 18 (55:21):
I can't do it.

Speaker 1 (55:22):
No, why I can't do it?

Speaker 12 (55:23):
Why can't they do it? Because of how they're being taught.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
The power that we are going to learn today, it's
called picture power.

Speaker 19 (55:31):
Can we say picture power?

Speaker 12 (55:34):
She's teaching reading using balanced literacy, a technique pushed by
teachers colleges that's supposed to make reading more fun.

Speaker 27 (55:42):
The learning goal would be that the children were able
to use a picture to figure out an unknown word.

Speaker 19 (55:48):
They're training the kids to be bad readers.

Speaker 12 (55:50):
Neil's Hooven, who designed an app the teachers kids to read, says.

Speaker 19 (55:54):
If you ask any parent who's teaching their kid to read,
it seems fairly obvious. You teach them the letter sounds,
and you them to blend those sounds together, and then
your kids start reading.

Speaker 12 (56:03):
That's called phonics.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
Yeah, and we got hooked on it for a long time.
Remember that, and then we're like, he can't be hooked
on phonic anymore because we've got a new thing here.
It's it's basically memorization. Here's a picture of a seal.
That is the word seal, so memorize that word.

Speaker 14 (56:21):
Now.

Speaker 2 (56:21):
As a kid growing up, I had dyslexia ADHD. They
didn't find that out until I was way older. I mean,
they knew I was a hot mess. But still they're like,
he tests off the charts, but he's you know, he
can't sit still. I mean, we do that with kids nowadays.
But I learned to memorize words. So I memorized them
without even the pictures because I was like, ooh, I
could do it. But I understood phonics and why it

(56:43):
was good. Right, we all did, and I don't know
what the hell happened. Somewhere along the road, we're like, well,
this is working, but we should stop it. So we'll
just give him pictures with words they can memorize. The
issue is when you see a new word.

Speaker 11 (56:58):
Oh.

Speaker 12 (57:00):
Institutes of Health says systematic phonics instruction produces significant benefits.

Speaker 19 (57:06):
For some reason. For the past several decades, in our school,
and this is not the way that they teach reading.

Speaker 12 (57:10):
One reason is that liberal activists said phonics drills take
the joy out of reading.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
They're so boring.

Speaker 21 (57:18):
I swear they do a better job than nambutol at
tasidone and putting children to sleep.

Speaker 12 (57:23):
This balance literacy teacher actually discourages her student from sounding
words out.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
Stop doing that, so you can't sound out though I
don't know.

Speaker 19 (57:33):
Why you started doing that.

Speaker 12 (57:34):
Instead, the child should look at the picture and try
to guess the word. Balance literacy was widely accepted until
two years ago when podcaster Emily Hanford released a series
called sold a Story. Parents told her it.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
Didn't seem like they were really teaching them to read.

Speaker 19 (57:51):
It seemed like they were teaching them to sound like
they can read.

Speaker 2 (57:56):
Yeah, you're fooling it. You're fooling everybody. You know how
to read? How many times do we story once or
twice a year? Where kids are in college and they're
at good colleges and now they're suing their old school
districts because they got straight a's val Victorian and they
don't know how to read or they don't know how
to do math. In fact, the other day in San Diego.

(58:16):
You see San Diego, basically half the kids can't do
middle school math. There's a lot of kids and young adults,
and I'm talking high school kids and young adults in
college who can't even read at a at a normal level.
The hell is going on.

Speaker 12 (58:34):
States quickly started passing new science of reading laws that
put more emphasis on phonics. That upsets education professors like
Andrew Johnson.

Speaker 13 (58:44):
I'm a bald head at Liberal, but I've been teaching
students how to teach phonics for the last twenty nine years.

Speaker 12 (58:50):
Johnson says the balance between phonics drills and real books
should be up to teachers.

Speaker 13 (58:56):
A teacher's job is to help children fall in love
with books based on the need of the kid. You
design instruction.

Speaker 12 (59:03):
What they've been teaching, he says, was just fine.

Speaker 13 (59:06):
You don't want the government involved in stuff, right, No,
why are they getting involved in reading instruction?

Speaker 12 (59:12):
Because you people screwed it up so badly?

Speaker 19 (59:15):
Oh me, education, how did we screw it up?

Speaker 13 (59:19):
I hope they look back and call this the Hanford
era and ten years when they see this house of
cards come tumbling down, when they see they've wasted billions
of dollars on this boondoggle.

Speaker 2 (59:35):
And it's a boondoggle because remember, on top of everything else,
it's always about getting you know, for some people, it's
about getting your paper published if you're a person who
is in the world of academia. For a lot of
other people, it's about getting your stuff into schools to
teach us the new way, which is what kids fail.

(01:00:03):
You think this is the right way, Well, it's worked
this way. Yes, if you can improve on it, that's great,
But it worked for so long, and yes it could
be improved on, but you didn't even try to improve
on it. You're just like, naw, let's just show them pictures.
That's a dog. What if you showed him a cat,

(01:00:24):
and they're like, the whole time they grew up, I
thought that was a dog. So what the picture said?

Speaker 12 (01:00:28):
Some teachers' unions join him at opposing the new laws.

Speaker 13 (01:00:31):
I'm impassionate about this because it's a social justice issue.

Speaker 12 (01:00:35):
Johnson helped create this journal that publishes articles that say
how literacy is taught has everything to do with race,
class an identity.

Speaker 13 (01:00:44):
They jingle the keys and say, ah, look it over here,
it must be those bad teachers. While ignoring the social
things like poverty.

Speaker 12 (01:00:53):
Some teachers opposed phonics because George W.

Speaker 21 (01:00:56):
Bush pushed it can a child read a great lad?

Speaker 19 (01:01:00):
If George Bush is telling us what to do, we
aren't going to do it.

Speaker 12 (01:01:03):
Time magazine quoted teachers who called phonics dehumanizing, colonizing the man.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Telling us what to do, and it became this holy war.

Speaker 19 (01:01:13):
We have all these scientists, all these researchers who are
not political, and they've been in the labs. They've been
looking at brain scans, they've been looking at rigorous studies,
and we know that phonics is the way that kids
learned to read.

Speaker 12 (01:01:24):
A change in Mississippi provided more evidence.

Speaker 19 (01:01:27):
Students here ranked last in reading.

Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
I'm going to tell you this. Mississippi said, we're done
with this. We suck. We're awful at this. And we're
not just awful, we're I mean, it is to the
point where everybody here is going to become a literate
if we don't figure this out. So we're pivoting and
going back to the way that we used to do
things when kids could read.

Speaker 12 (01:01:50):
But then Mississippi added more phonics helped kids early and
held back those who couldn't read. Scores shut up faster
than in any other state. People call it the Mississippi miracle.
Mississippi went off And where's your state down here? Fifth
from the bottom. Then it is sort of dropped because
of your bad teacher.

Speaker 6 (01:02:14):
Bad.

Speaker 13 (01:02:15):
I wish the world were as black and white as that.
I wish there were an algorithm.

Speaker 19 (01:02:22):
There is an algorithm to teach reading.

Speaker 12 (01:02:23):
Hooven uses it in his app.

Speaker 19 (01:02:25):
The first step is memorize all of the sounds the
letters make, and the second step has learned to blendo
sounds together. That's the entire reading algorithm. It's not rocket science.
We have two year olds now reading simple reading books,

(01:02:45):
and I think we've really undersold what kids are, what
kids are capable of.

Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
They have they've absolutely undersold. Now I'll tell you this.
My daughter's seven, and so my kids out here are homeschooled,
and they do their school sometimes in a day, sometimes
during the night. There's days where they'll work for eight
or ten hours, and like Charlie really gets into it,
and there's days where she just plays all day. And
I'm okay with that because at seven, she reads really

(01:03:12):
damn good. Her math skills are extremely good, and she's
curious about all kinds of things. Now that's not for everybody.
I get that, and we're blessed that my wife can
stay home and do those things. But the way that
I've seen my little brothers and sisters go through comparatively
to when we went through, it is a marked difference.

(01:03:34):
And the fact that yes, even the students that were
I was the worst among them, and I could read
now the best among them struggles and that's an issue.
And things changed because of money and politics, because politics
now will get us to pivot in ways that is

(01:03:54):
detrimental to us because I don't like that person. And
you know what, that's dumb assery. I don't you know
if that's the word. Well it is now bork capital

Chad Benson.

Speaker 18 (01:05:14):
Joe serving up talk radio medium, rare and dripping with irony.

Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
It's Chad Benson Thanksgiving.

Speaker 9 (01:05:32):
It's like we didn't even try to come up with
the tradition. The tradition is we overeat Hey, how about
thanks kive?

Speaker 6 (01:05:39):
We just eat a lot.

Speaker 8 (01:05:41):
We do that every day.

Speaker 6 (01:05:44):
Oh what if we eat a lot with people annoy
the hell out of us.

Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Oh, he's the anti family, little Jim Gaffigan there. Ghosting.
I think you would call that if you ghost your
family and ghost your boyfriend, your girl. And that's a
little bit of urban word. They's a throwback one we've
done before. But I thought i'd throw that out there.
And I bring that up because it is that time
of the year. So remember the first year that Trump

(01:06:09):
was elected president, right, go back in the day woo
and everybody's like, I'm not coming for Thanksgiving. Well, now
we're back in that situation where people aren't going to
be coming for Thanksgiving because well, yeah, that's what you do,
because that's what adults do.

Speaker 10 (01:06:28):
Liberals seem to be ghosting conservative family members this holiday
season over their politics, and one man has had enough
of it.

Speaker 11 (01:06:35):
Q Bill Maher a new rule, Happy Thanksgiving. I can't
believe that even that now is a political issue.

Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
It is a real shame.

Speaker 11 (01:06:45):
What's happened to this holiday, which used to be all
about the good f's food, friends, family, football, fun, and
now it's you. You're not even invited because you've voted
for the wrong person. I'm so tired of liberals ghosting
half this country. Whoever's doing it, It's got to stop.

Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
Absolutely. You know I'm a different cat. You guys recognize that.
Like I'm America first, Americans first. I care about us
as a species. And some of my best friends, one
of me best friends, I'm talking about absolute best human

(01:07:26):
beings and friends I know are uber progressive, and some
of my best friends are uber conservative. And you know
what's funny, all of us are friends and politics has
nothing to do with it. And they detest Trump or
they love Trump, And for some people, I think the
loving Trump is they love the fact that Trump pisses

(01:07:49):
people off more than they actually like a lot of
what Trump does. But still they love what it does
to other people. But it has never been how I
associate with family members or friends. I could never do that.
And I will say the left side of the aisle

(01:08:09):
when it comes to stuff like this, especially the young.

Speaker 19 (01:08:12):
It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
It is again, it's your family, That's what it is.
Your family. Your family's crazy. Why can't you be normal?
I get mad because you didn't get something you wanted
your aunt's will and your brother did, and get pissed
them for that reason. At least you go, okay, this
is just stupid.

Speaker 30 (01:08:31):
A new Fox News Paul asks are you open to
spending the holidays with those you disagree with politically? Eighty
six percent of Republicans say yes, while only sixty eight
percent of Democrats say they would.

Speaker 10 (01:08:42):
Republicans have the more open mind. I just want you
to note that I got to tell you I'm a
little anxious about the holiday. I know I'm going to
get to that table and political topics might come up,
and I'm in the distinct minority as a conservative.

Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Steed, Just eat, just eat, just teet. That's it, just tea.
You go there, You see your family right that you
haven't seen you just what the hell again? Fight for
the right reasons because you pissed mama for something that
you said that you thought was funny and it wasn't.

(01:09:19):
You know. Charlie is my seven year old, and her
and I have had this conversation about, you know, because
she knows what I do and my wife will asks
me some stuff and then you know, her older sister Lily,
she calls her DEDI she is. She'll asked me a
lot of questions about she's gonna be fifteen in a

(01:09:40):
couple of weeks, about a constitution in politics, She's very
tuned in, especially for and it's something that I because
I keep all this stuff away from them. And then
Charlie asked me the other day about you know why
people hate Trump or why people love Trump? And I say,
you know what, Charlie, don't do any of those things
for either politician, any politician at all. And she says why,

(01:10:02):
I said, because that's love and and really the hate,
and you know, those are things that know, we don't
give that power to a politician. So they're just a
human being and they make decisions and sometimes they're good
and sometimes they're bad. But all that matters is we
love each other. The people that are closest to you,

(01:10:23):
your family and your close friends, that you love them
for them. Politics is, you know, try to explain to
a seven year old it doesn't mean anything in the
overall scheme of things. And for everybody out there, it's like, well,
it's the most important. No, it's not the most important thing.
Your family's the most important, Your friends are the most important,
your kids, your husband, your wife, most important, what happens

(01:10:47):
locally extremely important. All of this other stuff is kabuki theater.
And did you shut up and eat turkey? So true,
sit down, relax, eat turkey, And for the love of God,
don't whose family members over stuff that plays a very
small role outside of the algorithms and chaos on TikTok.

Speaker 15 (01:11:09):
But they will come up. I mean it absolutely will
come up, because this is where we are as a society.
I have people in my family who don't speak. I
think people across the country have extended family members that
they know that are not speaking. I even know a
woman whose daughter is pregnant, and she's like, I just
don't know that I'll ever meet the baby.

Speaker 19 (01:11:26):
Folks, politics is not this valuable.

Speaker 15 (01:11:29):
You should definitely spend time with your family and be
like the Republicans, throw it all to the side for
the family fun and festivities and have a happy Thanksgiving
with your family.

Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
Amen. And I always tell everybody this, that crazy uncle
that he's like, oh, he really loves Trump and he's
these horrible and right system blah blah blah. Many of
those people, especially young women, who think that your uncle
who came and picked you up at school right when
you got in trouble and helped you out. As your
uncle that made sure that you were taking care of him. Mom,
dad didn't get after you. You forget those things because

(01:12:03):
you've allowed politics to creep way too much into a
part of life that shouldn't be three two, three, five, three, eight,
twenty four to twenty three at Chad Benson Show, is
your ex, your Insta, your YouTube, Facebook and more? If
you miss any show, gud the podcast. We'd love hearing
from every single on you right here on the Chad
Benson Shryl. Coming up our number three of the program,

(01:12:27):
the last hour of the week. We'll be back next Tuesday.
We're taking some time off, much needed time. By the way,
are you traveling? No, because yuck, But a lot of
stuff still to get to. Next to our Budy, my clients,
the guy we're really thankful for, our military analyst. He's
going to join the program. We're going to talk about
all things going on out there, including what's happening not
just in Venezuela, but with Mark Kelly and several others

(01:12:51):
about the things that they said about don't listen to
illegal orders, and what Trump has said as well. We're
going to discuss that a bunch of all the good
stuff like what's trending and yes, WKRP turkey drop. Now
we end the show every Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
God, that's job. This is the Chad Benson Show, The

(01:13:35):
Chad Benson Show.

Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
It's the holidays season, do Do do? And people are
going to the airport to fight and yeah that people
who don't want to ruin your day. That was my
horrible song I sang for you. I just want you
guys to understand that you do. Realize that when you
get mad today, I want you to take a deep breath.

(01:13:58):
When you get angry at the person who is trying
to check you in, when you get angry at the
person next to you in the car, I want you
to take a deep breath and realize they too, don't
want this to go crappy. They didn't wake up and
go you know what, I really like to do ruin
people's day. That's not on their agenda.

Speaker 4 (01:14:22):
The FAA says that today is the busiest day, with
fifty two thousand flights expected. Now we're told there is
solid staffing at towers and control centers nationwide.

Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
The FAA is calling this week.

Speaker 4 (01:14:33):
They're Super Bowl and it's really no surprise. Why because
the TSA thinks it's going to screen nearly eighteen million
people for the holiday.

Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
That is a lot of people. So today super busy,
Tomorrow busy, Thursday, eh, Friday, Saturday, Sunday super busy. Okay,
now let's just say for the sake of argument, you're
not flying anywhere, God bless you for that, but you
may be in the vehicle.

Speaker 4 (01:14:55):
Ninety percent of people will be driving. That's seventy three
million of you. THEES day is today, tomorrow and Sunday.
The worst time to hit the road today is between
noon and nine pm Tomorrow. You're gonna want to get
going before eleven am.

Speaker 2 (01:15:09):
And here's another big number for you.

Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
One point two million people will be taking a train
a train?

Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
What yeah, no, no, No, that's a hard no. That's
a hard no. Also a hard no is the is
a bus anywhere too? That's a that's a hard no.
Bus or a train. We're gonna go with the solid new.

Speaker 31 (01:15:33):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
But as you guys know, we talk about all time.
Phil Is he gets a little weird with trains, likes trains.
He gets all excited about him, takes whenever he has
a chance, and he's like, because I think that in March,
him and his him and his wife Dana, she's awesome.
They're going to I don't know. They always end up
going somewhere February March and they'll train down to like
they're going to Florida, they're going to a cruise. They'll
train down there. So he loves a train. Okay, he

(01:15:58):
love himself. A train a little different overnight, I don't know,
never been my thing. Lived in Europe. Train was a
little different back then. But no people in the car,
people taking airplanes. Just take a deep breath, everybody. The
best thing you could do is just stay home. That's
the best thing. I'm giving you advice to do nothing.

(01:16:20):
You're welcome, You're welcome, but you know, just be careful
out there. And remember, and I'm all joking, aside the
person that you are yelling at as you try to
get you know, on the airplane or when your plane
is delayed, be nice to that person. Be overly nice

(01:16:44):
to that person. Stick up for that person, and watch
what happens when they go, oh, well, yeah, this plane
over here is full. But you know, what we found
two business or first class. Why is that? Because just
treat them nice. That's all they're asking for. Speaking of
treating nice, we know she's out. I don't think it's

(01:17:05):
a win for Trump. I have to be honest with you.
I don't think it's a win for the Republican Party.
I think it's a lot of fracture. I saw yesterday
that Ran Paul's talking about there's a huge fracture in
the Republican Party right now. But MTG is out and
will there be more and we're going to talk about that.

Speaker 32 (01:17:21):
I think I'll come at this from even the GOP side,
which is I think he's losing some of the GOP,
which I think is the biggest political story over the
last ten days. Look, he's obsessed with going after his
political enemies, but what he should be focusing on right
now is the average American citizen, and that's the economy.
Polls came out today that we're devastating. Sixty two percent

(01:17:42):
of Americans say it's Trump's responsibility for the economy, not
Joe Biden. Seventy one percent believe tariffs have made their
life worse as a result of things being more expensive
I'm talking about groceries, utilities, healthcare, housing. And then you
have Marjorie Taylor resigning Friday night.

Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
That is not that that is not a.

Speaker 31 (01:18:04):
Victory for Trump.

Speaker 32 (01:18:06):
That is a victory for Marjorie Taylor Green. Stay tuned
to what she's going to be up to, and there
may be more following her footsteps, Okay, which brings me
back to how important this is for the cracking potentially
of the GOP.

Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
And by more following the footsteps, I don't think people realize.
I've talked to several congress people, people that work inside
the congressional world, who have said that there are several
that are ready to step away potentially. Don Bacon actually
the other day almost stepped away without seeing out his term.

(01:18:44):
He was so frustrated and angry. And there is a
new and I think this is very taling his new
article in Axios about is it even worth it anymore?
Because of all of the chaos, the craziness, the worst
good paying job around, and that many people in the

(01:19:05):
House in particular are over. They're over the death threats,
They're over the the NonStop fighting, They're over the fear
of Trump coming down on them, and the loyalty test.
They're over the the censures and all of this stuff.
Tim Burchett, right said, look, it takes a toll on people.

(01:19:27):
Jared Golden, who is retiring right, you know, said look,
one of the reasons they're retiring, they're just done with
the potential for political violence. And Don Bacon, like I said,
Republican who's retiring in twenty twenty seven, he said he
was so angry at Trump's administration. Is proposed twenty eight
point Russia Ukraine peace plan. He thought about bouncing early.

(01:19:48):
And there are several others that think about leaving. And
why is that important? Because if if you leave, remember
Mike Johnson's lead in the House isn't very much. If
if you leave, he could end up no longer being
Speaker of the House. The Democrats could take over because
they'll have more seats filled. It is not a good
place to be right now. The rhetoric, the violence, the

(01:20:11):
thought of violence, the talk of it, all of these
things is not doing our country any good. It isn't.
And yeah, Trump has an issue, and the loyalty test
is a serious thing. It's an absolute serious thing. And
there are a lot of Republicans like I said, after
she did what she did in holding the line and

(01:20:33):
fighting with Trump for the Epstein files, there is no
doubt that some other people found their cajones and they're
looking around and thinking, Okay, well, you know what, we
got to figure something out here. All right, this is
not what we're hoping for. We need something else because
part of that is the fact that Trump is going
to be gone. So they're all trying to find theirs space.

Speaker 19 (01:20:56):
In this world.

Speaker 2 (01:20:57):
If it's going to be maga, if it's going to
be mega hybrid. But at the same time, just in
case stuff doesn't work out the way they like, just
in case next year they get boat race. And I
will tell you there, don't be surprised that there's gonna
be several more retirements coming soon because they're worried about
getting their asses handed to him next year. Why is
that rising cost of everything? Now? Thing's going up?

Speaker 33 (01:21:20):
New CBS News polling finds americans feelings about the economy
and inflation don't match the messaging being.

Speaker 1 (01:21:26):
Put out by the Trump administration.

Speaker 33 (01:21:29):
CBS News Executive Director of Elections and Surveys, Anthony Salvonto,
joins us Now with more So Anthony as we enter
the holiday season. Walk us through how people are feeling
about the economy and inflation and how it differs from
what we're hearing from the White House.

Speaker 34 (01:21:42):
Right, it's a time of year people spend even more money. Right,
This is the ratings of the economy. And you can
see it's dropped now. It's at thirty two percent. Good.
It has been low all year, as you can see.
But that little bit of an added decline, if you will,
is really because you've got a lot of people who
say that prices are still going up certainly not coming down.

Speaker 19 (01:22:05):
So that's one part of it.

Speaker 34 (01:22:06):
Prices have always been driving views of the economy for
recent years, right.

Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
Absolutely, so one of the reasons we no longer have Biden,
among other things. But the prices in the transitory. Remember
everything here was transitory when it came to the economy's inflation.
It's all it's going to be here for a little
while and then gone. You guys just don't understand. Trump's
pitching the same thing. Best is pitching the same thing.
Howard Loving's pitching the same thing. People aren't buying it.

(01:22:32):
My eyes tell me that my bank account is less.
Your words are telling me that this is great, But
then I go back to my eyes and my eyes say, nah,
it's not that now.

Speaker 19 (01:22:47):
What you mentioned there at the top.

Speaker 34 (01:22:49):
This is the six and ten who say that they
think the administration is making things sound better than they
really are.

Speaker 19 (01:22:56):
So a bit of a disconnect book.

Speaker 34 (01:22:58):
Any president is gonna sometimes try to be upbeat, right,
be optimistic, especially about economic things. But at the same time,
this is a disconnect that people are seeing and what
they're hearing out of the White House, And a big
part of that is they're saying not enough attention to.

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
The economy, and that is the number one driving force
when it comes to voting. We can pretend about all
the other things unless there's a war that we're literally
in the midst of. It's the economy, stupid, and the
economy will always be number two at worse. They have

(01:23:37):
to figure out how they can turn this around. But
what you can't do is gaslight people. What you can't
do is tell everybody everything's great and it's never been greater,
and it's the best ever. And if you don't believe
as well, you're just a fool. You can't just give
a portion of a story and hope everybody ignores the
other part of the story, because that other part juxtaposes

(01:23:57):
your side of the story and tells a completely different story.
It's about empathizing and understanding, but it's also about those
two things we've talked about, affordability and urgency. Absolutely have
to find out a way to start figuring out how
you can get to the affordability side. And it isn't

(01:24:18):
going to be perfect, but you can't gaslight people. And
you have to have urgency because, as we have talked
about over and over again, when it comes to everything
we can think of in the world of politics and sports,
winning cures all ills. So no matter how about a
locker room may be, no matter how fractured it is,

(01:24:38):
if you're winning, everything stays in the locker room. If
you start to lose and there's cracks. Watch what Happens

You're listening to the Chad Benson Show.

Speaker 2 (01:26:35):
Now it's time to find out what's trending.

Speaker 8 (01:26:38):
What's trending?

Speaker 29 (01:26:40):
Signed James Dean, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Serene.

Speaker 8 (01:26:57):
Ju Lot Try.

Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
Let's find out what's trending on the old interwebs on
this Tuesday. It's my Friday. It's co that's kind of
cool for me. It sucks for you guys if you're working,
but it's pretty good for me, although a lot of
people are off because you know, Thanksgiving and all trending
right now. Afton Baine often of course, is running in
the Tennessee seventh, but she's kind of got notoriety everywhere.

(01:27:26):
Talk about that in a little bit. We've talked about
it throughout the show. Just to let you guys know
Afton's going to be on my local show on Tuesday.
Her and I are, we've kind of become friends. And
as far as just the politics aside, because I don't
agree with ninety percent of what her politics is. But

(01:27:48):
she's genuine and nice and that's what makes it tough
when I fight with her for her politics. But she
can be on my show on Tuesday. Lord Trump. Trump
holds eighty seven percent approval among Republicans. Good for him, Afghanistan, Kiev, Pakistan,
Pam BONDI, she's doing well. I don't think that was

(01:28:11):
very honest. Chet forty nine ers Thanksgiving over to Yahoo
Rush Ukraine War, Donald Trump, Steph Curry, Anna Kepner. That
whole thing on that cruise ship is just so bizarre.
If you haven't followed it, it is just bizarre. Travis Turner,

(01:28:33):
he is the missing football coach that I said yesterday.
They're like they're looking for him, and I said, I
feel like he did something wrong, and he disappeared, and
sure enough he has been put on leave. So that's
kind of an interesting twist. Forty nine ers over on
Google number twenty thing, Mark Kelly winter storm warning, Tara
Reid's taken out of a Chicago hotel on a stretcher

See the way I did that. They're thankful, thankful Jed Yes,
speaking of thankful James comy, Ladies and gentlemen, Leticia James,
what happened?

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
Federal Judge Cameron Curry based her rulings on the law
which says that when a top federal prosecutor's role in
a judicial district is left a vacant for more than
one hundred twenty days, only the district court can fill it.
As a result, Curry has dismissed the indictments Lindsay Halligan
brought against Letitia James and James Camy. The former FBI
director responded online.

Speaker 14 (01:29:56):
I'm grateful that the court ended the case against me,
which was a press acution based on malevolence and incompetence.

Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
A White House spokeswoman says, the dismissals will not be
the final word.

Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
Well, the final word was they dismissed it, but without prejudice,
meaning they can go back and refile. The reality is
simply she's in over her head Halligan and it was
unfair to put her in that position because she should
never been there. Right, you can't hire people based on
hotness unless it's some sort of modeling thing. I don't
think that's nice. It's honest, but not nice. And Komy's

(01:30:28):
probably going to be statute to liptation. So there's a
good chance nothing comes out of Komy. Letitia James, We'll see,
we shall see three, two, three, five, eight, twenty four
to twenty three. At Chad Benson Show, is Your Act
your Insta. We've got our WKRP Turkey drop to wrap
up the show as we do every Thanksgiving, our last
show before Thanksgiving. Our buddy Mike Lions military analyst joints

(01:30:50):
the program strayed to at Chat Benson Show, The Chad
Benson Show, The Chad Benson Show. That time of the week,

(01:31:27):
we talked to man that we're very thankful for tired
major the Army and the best damn military analyst period
case closed. Mike Lines joining the program, and man, there
is a lot to talk about. First, let's talk about Ukraine.
The twenty eight point plan deal that seemed to be
put together without Ukraine. What's your take on this one.

Speaker 21 (01:31:47):
MITCHI I great to be with you.

Speaker 22 (01:31:49):
You know, a twenty eight point anything would never work,
especially when it comes to negotiating a peace agreement between
two countries that are warring. So from an initially when
I first heard of it, I said, something is way
off with this. Then you dig into it and there's
just so many things in this that are just not

(01:32:09):
in Ukraine's favor on any level that they won't agree to.

Speaker 21 (01:32:13):
Now.

Speaker 22 (01:32:14):
I get the negotiation, I get all that, but really
nothing's changed in the last months since we've been talking
about the situation on the ground. No Tomahawks have showed up,
no Patriot missiles, no NATO, no fly zones, no other
security guarantees for Ukraine have showed up. So this to me, unfortunately,
looks like a deal that the administration is trying to

(01:32:35):
do to get another deal in its cap. But overall,
top to bottom. It's just not something that Ukraine can't
accept on any level. And also given the current situation
on the ground, they're keeping Russia from breaking through. We
talk more about the drone situation that the drones are
at a new level with regard to how they're being

(01:32:57):
operated on both sides. Russia's actually had some real advances
on their drone warfare side as well.

Speaker 2 (01:33:02):
The drone side of it, because let's be real, Ukraine
got really innovative early into this where they were just
buying stuff off essentially Amazon, creating their own little bombs
and drones that weren't very high tech, but at a
time when his guerrilla warfare seems to be the thing
that was really the most important part.

Speaker 22 (01:33:20):
Of that, that's right, and they used a lot of
this technology that the Russians now have come back with
electronic warfare capability in order to knock a lot of
them out of the sky. They were using the principle
of war just mass throwing a lot of drones at
the Russians. But the Russians have evolved to have this
whole unit now it's called Rubicon, that they have incredibly

(01:33:45):
accurate drones.

Speaker 21 (01:33:47):
They have them tethered with fiber optics.

Speaker 22 (01:33:49):
If there are places now in Ukraine, then there's so
many fiber optic strands out there that looks like the
whole field is covered with plastic. Son is something unusual,
but it doesn't. It gives highly accurate signals back to
its operator as well as making it impervious to any

(01:34:12):
kind of electronic warfare a taxa going against. So the
Russians have flipped that equation on its head a little bit,
and then they've become just as good at the drone
game as Ukraine is. And so far this the entire
battlefield is just saturated with this technology.

Speaker 2 (01:34:25):
Talking to Mike Clines, military expert, we talk about what's
going on in right now the eastern part of Europe
with the battle chill between Ukraine and Russia. I saw
several people yesterday talk about this, this thing that they're
trying to put together. This it seemed like, you know,
somebody said, it feels like it's a Christmas wishless for
Putin that isn't going to happen. But what's the real

(01:34:48):
Like if you and I have been talking about this
since the you know, before they invaded, and you've always
said this will be land for peace, right and how
much land is the question. But right now I still
don't feel like Putin has any reason to stop doing
what he's doing.

Speaker 21 (01:35:03):
He doesn't.

Speaker 22 (01:35:04):
And part of this agreement would mean that Russia would
gain land that they technically haven't conquered yet, and that's
what the concern would be here. From Ukraine's perspective, they
have to be concerned about the next attack that's going
to happen. Russia has what's called interior lines in a
lot of this area in Hantsk, in the Dunask region,

(01:35:28):
and they can easily reinforce and for it creates a
situation on Ukraine if they're going to defend their having
much more challenges, and if they give some of this
land back that that Russia wants in this deal, it'll
make it even worse.

Speaker 21 (01:35:43):
And so it's one thing to freeze this in place.

Speaker 22 (01:35:46):
But right now, Russia continues to try to move forward,
continues to try to, you know, create the situation, making
it better for themselves. If you look on a map,
it's kind of this very jagged border that would exist
right now. Russia wants to round that whole thing off,
which would make it much more difficult for Ukraine to defend.

Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Okay, so let's just say, for the sake of argument,
we say we're done. You didn't sign anything. We threw
something out there, even though it may be bad. What
is the what is their options is? You know, the
Europeans are still very nervous about what's going on in Russia.
What is their options if we step away from.

Speaker 22 (01:36:22):
This, Well, you know, Ukraine thinks it can still grind
this thing out, and it probably can for a few
more years, and it would it would you know, this
could eventually go on for many many years. Russia can't
break through, they can't mass, they can't bring other principles
of war to this battle, but they can continue to
try to bleed out Ukraine in this manner. The rest

(01:36:46):
of Europe is still unwilling to provide the level of
technology as well as you know, kinetic support right now
that in order for them to go on the offensive
in order to really strike back at Russia.

Speaker 21 (01:37:00):
So I don't know.

Speaker 22 (01:37:01):
I don't think the US will abandoned Ukraine. I think
that would be politically unviable right now, given how long
this has gone on. But Trump is, as we've talked,
about did not think that the Tomahawks would provide this leverage,
and I don't think he thinks any military solution provides
any more leverage, which is why he's demanding a deal
to get done.

Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
Talking to my client's military analysts, we have him on
the show every Tuesday, talk about all things military Venezuela. Obviously,
you know you've said, look that the army's not there yet,
which is good, but there still feels like something is
getting ready to go down. Now we're telling planes don't
even not only don't even fly over Venezuela airspace, be
careful around Colombia, Gayana and all these other places. It

(01:37:42):
feels like something's coming. It's not if, but when and
what does it look like.

Speaker 22 (01:37:46):
You had a good conversation with i'll just say very
high retired classmate of mine who ran a very large operation.
His concern was, and I agree with this, that you know,
they've got professionals down there in the military that know
exactly what they're doing, and they're maneuvering large ships and
there's all kinds of moving parts going to this. Well,

(01:38:07):
it could still go sideways pretty quickly on a couple
different levels. You know, obviously the performative projecting a power
down there. I think a lot of it also is
sending messages to China and Russia as well. If about
encroaching in this hemisphere. We know the Chinese are trying
to you know, leak their way into into South America.
But this could still go sideways if something goes wrong.

(01:38:29):
Given the amount of military operations and things that we
have there, now, what does a ground war look like there?
Again unfathomable at any level. The Army's not there. The
Marines that we have there would not be enough in
order to ensure victory without any kind of large scale
casualties that could possibly happen. But right now it looks

(01:38:50):
like pressure on Maduro to leave. I don't know what
that means either, because just you know, when one leaves,
we don't know what's going to follow him. Right now,
but this is maybe the beginning of their conversation about
putting the drug traffic down, but we have to remain
remains to be seen whether that's been impacted at all.

Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
And the whole Maduro thing, I mean, he's getting it
from Colombia and several others because their fear, right like
everybody's fear is because we've I've seen several simulations they've run.
They've all said the same thing. It becomes chaos there
and becomes a civil war, and then there's several different
little civil wars, and then it spill spills over into
two Colombia and several other places. I mean that is,
you know, that's why everybody seems to be kind of going, hey, Madua,

(01:39:30):
take all the gold, take all the money you have,
and just get the hell out of dodge.

Speaker 28 (01:39:35):
Well.

Speaker 22 (01:39:36):
And you know that that means a reset for that country.
And you know Venezuela is you know, sits on a
tremendous amount of rare earth minerals. I think that could
be the other strategic plot here. This this administration does
look over the horizon, recognizes that the sooner we don't
have any dependencies on China for earth minerals and in

(01:39:57):
other countries for any kind of energy, it's just going
to be you know, the best in our in our
in our interests. So that that could possibly be what's
happening here. But again, you know, invading a sovereign nation
like this, so I don't think that's that's going to
go over very well with with our allies and with
with other of those countries in the in South America's.

Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
Talking to my client's military analysts. The guy is the
best dam military analyst in the business. Any big plans
for the Thanksgiving week, no chat.

Speaker 22 (01:40:23):

grateful for this amazing country that we have, as we say,
coming on two hundred and fifty years and and just
just very grateful for all I get to do, get
to talk to you and and and talk about the

(01:40:45):
military and about how our great country is.

Speaker 21 (01:40:47):
And I really appreciate you give me the opportunity.

Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
Well, we are thankful for you.

Speaker 19 (01:40:51):

Speaker 2 (01:40:51):

was co written by story editor Bill Dile and series
creator Hugh Wilson, and it is their Turkey's Away episode,
which TV Guide calls one of the greatest episodes of
sitcom in history. And it is amazing, and it's actually
based on some true stories that Hugh Wilson, the creator

(01:43:34):
of w Carapy, adapted from several different stories he had
heard or people he knew that told him stories about
a turkey giveaway, including Jeremy Blum, who's a general manager
of a station in Atlanta called w q XI. He
was there from nineteen sixteen to eighty nine, and he

(01:43:55):
was part of the stories that inspired the live Turkey giveaway.
Blums that he tossed turkeys out of a pickup truck
in a Dallas shopping center back in the day. He
said it was a disastrous promotion. I didn't know turkeys
couldn't fly, was actually what he said. It is truly

(01:44:15):
one of our favorite things to do, and I think
you guys will enjoy it. So without further ado, here
is Turkey's Away and the great ending of one of
the great television shows of all time, one of the
great episodes of all time, from our friends at WKRP.

(01:44:36):
All right, fellow babies, and now it's time to go
to our live remote man on the scene at the
Pinedale Shopping Mall for.

Speaker 25 (01:44:41):
The big WKRP Turkey Giveaway.

Speaker 19 (01:44:44):
So take it away, less ness man.

Speaker 35 (01:44:47):
This is less ness when you're man on the scene
here at the Pinedale Shopping Center where the excitement is mounting.
We're here to witness the big wkrle or Urkie Thanksgiving giveaway.

Speaker 31 (01:44:55):
You got permission to be out here? What you're blocking
my store here? Don't you know who I am?

Speaker 2 (01:45:02):
Huh?

Speaker 31 (01:45:03):
I'm less Ness Fan. I won the Buckeye News Huck
Award last year. Good for you, buck Eye, and now

Speaker 2 (01:45:10):

Speaker 35 (01:45:16):
I hear hundreds of people who if.

Speaker 31 (01:45:18):
You haben to witness what has been described as perhaps
the greatest Turkey event in Thanksgiving date.

Speaker 35 (01:45:22):
Is all we know for sure is that in a
very few moments they're going to be a lot of
happy people out here.

Speaker 8 (01:45:28):
And now the crowd is.

Speaker 35 (01:45:30):
The crowd is uh, curious, but well behaved. And I
think I hear something. Now the crowd is moving out
into the parking area and oh yes, I can see
it now. It's a it's a hell look copter and
it's coming this way. It's flying something behind it. I

(01:45:52):
can't quite make it out. It's a large banner and
it says happy thing.

Speaker 34 (01:46:02):
Killy from wy.

Speaker 2 (01:46:11):
Hey. What a site.

Speaker 35 (01:46:13):
Thing is, gentlemen, wa a sight. The culter seems to
be circling the parking area. Now, I guess it's looking
for a place to land. No, something just came out
of the back of the helicopter. It's a dark object
or he's a skydiver. Lumm me to to the earth
from only two thousand feet in the air.

Speaker 31 (01:46:30):
To the third.

Speaker 35 (01:46:32):
There's no parachutes yet. You can't be skydivers.

Speaker 25 (01:46:38):
I can't not just yet.

Speaker 6 (01:46:39):
What they Oh my god, they're trucking.

Speaker 28 (01:46:44):

Speaker 19 (01:46:45):
They're cunching to the right.

Speaker 4 (01:46:49):

Speaker 13 (01:46:49):
Your's running around pushing each other.

Speaker 19 (01:46:54):
Oh my jess, Oh, but.

Speaker 34 (01:46:58):
Let me go bobs on.

Speaker 35 (01:47:00):
These are hitting the ground like sets of whatson Is.

Speaker 19 (01:47:03):
It's like, I don't know how much logan. The crowd
is running for their lives.

Speaker 2 (01:47:08):
I think they're going to step inside.

Speaker 19 (01:47:09):
I can't stay out here and watch.

Speaker 31 (01:47:10):
This with you all you.

Speaker 2 (01:47:11):
No, I can't go in there. And he hasn't been
anything like it.

Speaker 35 (01:47:20):
I don't know how much I can hold my position here.

Speaker 21 (01:47:22):
Johnny Last Last, are you there? Lass isn't there?

Speaker 2 (01:47:33):
Thanks for that on the spot report.

Speaker 35 (01:47:35):
Last just tuned in the Pinedale Shopping mall has just
been bombed with not turkey.

Speaker 23 (01:47:45):
Less?

Speaker 2 (01:47:45):
Are you okay?

Speaker 23 (01:47:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 19 (01:47:48):
A man in his two children tried to kill me.

Speaker 25 (01:47:53):
Not can.

Speaker 35 (01:47:53):
The turkeys hit the pavement. The crowd kind of scattered,
but some of them tried to attack me. I want
to jam myself into a phone booth. Then mister Carlson
had the helicopter land in the middle of the parking lot.
I guess he thought he could save the day by
turning the rest of the turkeys loose.

Speaker 19 (01:48:12):
It's pretty strange.

Speaker 21 (01:48:13):
After that, Let's come on now, tell us the rest.

Speaker 35 (01:48:20):
I really don't know how to describe it. It was
like the turkeys mounted to counter attack. It was almost
as if they were organized.

Speaker 12 (01:48:37):
As God.

Speaker 23 (01:48:37):
As my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
I still love that. It is amazing, delivered in such
a way, so incredible, one of the great episodes of
all time in television history, and yes, delivered directly to
you on a platter if you will, right here from
the Chad Benson Show. And I just want to say
thank you guys for spending time with us throughout the year.

(01:49:08):
You guys take your time to listen to us, to comment,
to argue, at times to compliment, and I just thank
you so much because without you, you know, without Phil
and all the people that work around this show, I
wouldn't have the opportunity to do what I do. But really,
without you, guys, it wouldn't be anything. And I am

(01:49:29):
so blessed and happy that I'm able to do this
each and every single day. Go love your family, eat
a lot, and when I say eat a lot, eat
a whole bunch. But on stretch you pants. You guys
have a blessed and amazing and safe Thanksgiving and holiday weekend.
And we'll do it again next Tuesday. As always, Night
Night Chat.
