we get into today's podcast, we're going to bring victory
and how's your weekend?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Brother? Good mate, good mate? We are we made finals
thanks to the enorymous around amounts of rain we had
on the weekend. Nice final with fault Oh seriously so
good so Biden Ridges Sunday Yeah turned thirty should be fun.
I saw you went to Mimi's yesterday. Mis mimis Yes,
I was in Eastern suburbs now, yeah, could you?
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah? It was beautiful actually, food was great. A lot
to celebrate as well. Ow just turned thirty last week
and obviously it made my big announcement last week as well.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Very happy that it's all out there now, to be honest,
How do you feel it feels great to be honest?
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I'm very very happy obviously something that I've thought about
for a long time. But now that I've got it
all out there and it's official, I'm just so happy.
I feel like there's a big weight off my shoulders.
And if you haven't yet, make sure you go and
check out last week's podcast. It's a bit different. It's
basically me talking about myself, made my decision in my
(01:48):
career and everything, which is a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
But yeah, I feel great.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I feel like I feel like I've been a lot
happier to be honest around just in general life in general.
That yeah, I'm finishing up and you know, I can
move on to the next phase of my life.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
The Tiktoks blew up.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
The Tiktoks did blow up, especially the one with the kids.
It absolutely blew up two point seven million views on
TikTok at the moment, which is that you're counting. Yeah,
I mean I've checked it every couple of days and
I'm like, wow, the people must have loved it, which
was an awesome, awesome moment for us to have on
camera as a family. Yeah, just my kids have no
idea about football, and that's why I wanted to get
(02:30):
their reaction, which is something that will stick with me
forever because obviously football has been a big part of
my life and my existence. So yeah, it was cool. Anyway,
let's move on to today's show. Now, we're going to
talk about what's trending right now, and there's a lot
to talk about.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Obviously the Panthers trainer, what's doing there.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
We'll get into straight into that in a second. Reacting
to all the games the results from this past weekend.
We've got our top five again and this time I
am doing my top five suburban grounds in Sydney, so
keep an eye out for that. We've got our big
Footy Guy of the week, we've got our fan questions
and we're gonna have a bit of fun doing it.
(03:13):
So let's get into what's trending straight away, Victor, what's
actually trending.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
But what's actually doing? What is Adam doing? What is
actually doing?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
The Penith Panthers trainer yellow shirt trainer Jaden Campbell is
kicking a goal from the sideline and the Panthers are
behind the train line. Jaden's on the left sideline. The
Panthers are huddled next to the post. The trainer, instead
of running right behind Jaden Campbell, runs directly in front
of him, and you can see in the still frame
(03:45):
the whole Titans bench. They're putting their hands up, they're
speaking to the ref. Jaden Campbell's completely been put off,
had to go up and take his mark again. I
ain't never seen anything like it in my time in
rugby league. Nothing like that, like a junior level like
I've just never seen.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
It is standard prosigereed just to stay there and wait
for Jaden to kick and then then you run off right, Yeah,
for sure.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
But from sorry Ivan clear his press conference, he was
saying that he wanted to get the trainer, wanted to
get a message back to the bench. But it's it's
I mean, it just goes without saying you all the
time you run behind the kicker like all the time,
Like I've never seen anyone slightly go in front of
him or you know, be in that position. So look,
(04:34):
I watching like seeing it all unfold, And obviously Vossi
on Fox League was quoted saying, that's disgraceful, you know
what I mean? Like that is a pretty big comment
and a pretty forthright comment to say that. But then
it got me thinking about, like what's what should the
penalty be? Now as we're recording this, nothing's official that's
(04:55):
come out. I still think that something will come out
like official, but look, I would have been if and
I'd love for you guys to let us know in
the comments, what do you guys think should have happened
to the trainer or to the panthers, Like some people
are saying the panthers should have been deducted points, which no,
that's dick, that's that's not it, Like that's but if
(05:15):
they had have said, Jaden Campbell, now you can have
a kick in front of the post, like I would
have been completely sweet with that.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I think everyone would have been happy about that.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yeah, Like there's no way I feel like you should
be able to do that. So I feel a kick
in front of the post would have been you know,
sufficient enough penalty. But I mean, we're probably going to
see a fine and maybe even a suspension come out.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
As they should. And I think, like what you said,
there should have been something that happened in game because
it did, in the end change the game. Yeah, affect
the game.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Yeah, I mean it did, like you know, and it's
easy to say, like I mean, Jade, like it's a
tough kick and we don't know if the trainer didn't
do that and if Jadan Campbell would have got it,
But the fact of the matter is like he got
put off for a kick that he was like focusing
on doing, and his mindset having that kick after that's
happened is like different, I know of been in that position,
(06:10):
like he would have been feeling and thinking differently. And
Jayden Kemmel had a ripper of a game as well,
which we're gonna we'll talk about a little bit later on.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
But I'm interested to see how the NFL reacts to this.
Do you think he did it on purpose? Was that
some dark arts rugby league? Yeah? Do I think he
did it on purpose? Wow, that's a that's a pretty
big statement.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Umm.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Did he know what it was doing. Yeah, I think
he did. I think he did.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
I think he did it on purpose, because only purely
from the fact that I mean, you could see he.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Was like sorry, he put his arm up and everything.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
But I don't know, like only from the fact that,
like I've never seen that before, Like I don't know.
It's it's pretty hard to make a mistake where you're
running in front of a kicker too.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
As a trainer, and you've been in this position so
many times as well.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
It's like, yeah, but it's because we've never seen it before, really,
you know what I mean. I think there's since then
that point on the weekend a couple of I think
there was an instance in a Paramatta Penis game a
couple of years ago where a Penrith trainer, sorry a
Paramatta trainer did something to put off one of the
Panthers players.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
And I'm not sure how that sort of finished up.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
But obviously, as the internet does, they do their digging
and whatnot, you know, after certain incidents.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
So what are the what are the wildest things You've
seen from a trainer?
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Wildest things I've seen from a trainer. I've seen trainers
like mouthing off at the opposition, like swearing and like
calling them names and stuff to the opposition, like getting
into them, and then the player is like getting back
into the trainer. Obviously we've seen recently like the water
on the balls from the trainer. Yeah, what else have
I seen from trainer? I mean I've seen trainers like
(07:57):
absolutely getting into like a match officials, referees and touch judges. Yep, trainers.
I've seen trainers be because of that, be banned from
the sideline, be banned from being involved in the game
on the sideline. What else have I seen trainers? Yeah,
(08:18):
I kind of guess that's kind of it, to be honest,
Like nothing too crazy. I mean, trainers, a lot of
trainers are past players, you know what I mean, So
a lot of them are very you know, onto what
they've what it's like to be a player. But obviously,
you know, we've got medical staff as well. Who a
lot of those guys aren't pass players medical staff, you know.
But obviously you've been around football for a long time.
(08:39):
If you're a trainer at NRROL level, you understand what
you can and cannot do.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
So maybe just as passionate about getting the win oh,
one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Those football staff, trainers, whatever it may be, they ride
the wave just as much as players do.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
They want to win just as much as players do.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Their home life or life away from ball is just
as influenced on the wins and losses as the players,
to be fair.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yeah, anyway, we'll we'll move on.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
But obviously, yeah, let us know what you guys think,
because it's obviously it's going to be the talk of
you know, the probably the whole Rugby League week until
we hear something from the n L about what's going
to actually happen to the Panthers trainer.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Yeah, let's move on video for you to watch. We
can't here we go.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Yeah, I'm sick of the drop there dude, man Bro
weekend week outs and didn't bring that guy to fullback.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
So honestly, coaches, he's gonna be the reason why we
get kicked out of the top four. Bro. Bro, I'm
so sorry. G. I think I missed the d but
you didn't miss it. Me and you were at the
same steak as game fluff. G. I'm so sorry I
missed you didn't miss what your debut?
Speaker 2 (09:58):
So what what Warrior by you?
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Because Bro, I'm thinking about it now, and I was like, Holy,
if my cousin's giving advice to an NRL team, the
same one that could have made a school team.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
He must have debuted sometime. I'm just trying to uncle,
like the.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Hotel, you know, when you make your debut the NRL
fly your family. How was the hotel so that I
always knew you had potential. So when I saw him
putting up those marquis, I was like, Nah, not this guy.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
He should be in the NRL. Better Yet, I think
he needs to be a sports analyst.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Never made a single REP team in his life, but
I think just he needed to go straight to the
top straight.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
That is all time. Johnny two of as Johnny two,
that is all time.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
He does some cool stuff and us of his stuff.
That is hilarious. Having a proper girl at the OU.
The couch coaches out there, there's plenty of them.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
What's your opinion on couch coaches? Oh?
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Man? Look, the best thing about the game is like everyone,
it allows everyone to have an opinion on it. But obviously,
like some are more educated than others on the game,
you know what I mean. So I guess that's what
I'll say, uh, you know, but that video. That video
is cracking me because yeah, I mean obviously, you know,
(11:28):
some people have qualified, qualified opinion and know.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
What they're talking about. Some don't.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
But like I said, you know, regardless if you do
or you don't, I feel like everyone's allowed to have
an opinion on the game. And that's one of the
best things about footy and rugby league. And you know,
you can debate with your mate about which players good
and which is not good, and you know, your teams
and whatnot in the banter and the love. But you know,
as long as I'm or like, I love it, as
long as it doesn't get like you know, it goes
(11:55):
too far. Yeah, you know, especially when like there's abuse
and threats and stuff happened on social media, which it
just came out last week. I'm pretty sure it was
James Siller, the guy who sent him a death threat
online got charged in court. Charged, he got charged in court. Good,
you know, so good, so good on. I guess the law,
(12:16):
the law enforcement for making that guy accountable. So you
can't just send people death threats over a game of footy.
But yeah, going back to what a that's a good clip,
good stuff from you.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
This sweek's games. Let's go moving to this week's games.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
This started off Thursday night, Storm sixteen eels ten Now
eels I thought were up for this game. Obviously, Papa
Has in return for the Storm left his goal kicking
boots at home. It seemed like Puppy the one we
hit the two oprights right next to the post, he
would have liked this time back again. Obviously, the Storm
without Jerome Hughes, you know, Jerome Hughes is obviously a
(12:53):
big loss for them, but they seem to cover, you know,
guys so well.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
The Storm.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Obviously, you know, wish Art comes into the seven Jersey
had Jonah Peazant on the bench. So I think it's
going to be interesting to see where Jonah Peazitt ends
up now that Hughes has made his decision to extend.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
His deal with the Storm.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Obviously, it was sort of publicized that Jonah Pezzitt had
some contract clauses in his deal with regards to being
able to test the market if Jerome Hughes resigned, and
that's obviously happened, it will be interesting to see if
he stays next year or he goes the year after. Obviously,
most teams kind of have their starting halfbacks sorted for
(13:32):
next season, so it may be for the year after.
But I feel like pezit's Pezit's done his time. You know,
he's had some injuries over the past twelve months, but
I feel like he's done his time in regards to
he's ready to kind of take that step to try
and be the starting half back of a team. And
obviously that's not going to happen at the Storm while
(13:53):
Jerome Hughes is there, so that will be interesting. Some
of the stats to come out of this game. Will
Storm controlled fifty four percent of the ball, Eels had
forty missed tackles, and the Eels only had sixty eight
percent completion done quite well considering obviously that numbers are
very very low, you know, and seeing the press conference
after the game, you know, Mitch Moses was he was
(14:18):
you could tell he was visibly upset because he thought
they should have won the game.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Like that.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
You mentioned that they were in a development phase, which
they definitely are there obviously in a rebuild with a
new coach, you know, blooding some young players and giving
them some time. Obviously made a pretty ruthless decision around
Dylan Brown, and you know their situation with the Hars,
with Joe Ash and Dean Hawkins, and and yeah, they're
definitely in a rebuild, but I think they've shown signs
(14:42):
and in games where like, you know, obviously competing with
the Storm, who were sitting second at the moment, the
Eels are sixteenth, I'm pretty sure that they're competing with
the top team. So obviously they'll take a lot out
of that. Obviously, you know that they took an l
but in the in the court over the course of
the game, I mean, I thought they were reasonably so
I thought Fox had a good game. You know, obviously
(15:03):
they're a different team with with Mitch Moses, you know
what I mean, when he plays and when he when.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
He doesn't, it's like.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Fullback and so yeah, yeah, and obviously, yeah, missing him
was it wasn't great for them.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
But with a healthy Mitch Moses next season, do you
think Para can make the eight? I think they can. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
I mean that they need to. They need to improve
again next year. And they're players that have been given opportunity,
Like Joe Ash. It looks like, you know, he might
be he might get a chance in the halves or
whoever it is, whoever partners Mitch Moses in the harves
like needs to play that support him like supporting role,
(15:47):
but play well, you know, I mean, it can't all
just be about Mitch Moses, because then when teams come
up against Paramatta, they'll do all their preview on Mitch
Moses and stopping mich Moses. And then when you kind
of do all that, then someone else needs to kind
of bump up and sort of put their hand up
and sort of take a bit of that load off
Mitch Moses.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
But yeah, look, I think they can make the eight
next season. Yeah you got Jack de Bellan, Yeah, joining
next season.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Jack de Bellin comes in as a bit of veteran experience.
I think Jack de Bellan is a good signing for
him for Para, obviously getting towards the back end of
his career and you know, probably not taking up a
heap of salary cap next season, but offering a great
sort of veteran presence. You know, you watch Jack de
bell And play defensively, outstanding, great ball playing, and I
think he's going to really add to that Eels team
(16:35):
next season. But you know, the storm they didn't play great.
You can see Bellamy's storming out of the box. It
seems to happen every single week. Every week He's just
up and out of the box. But yeah, that's a
that's a Craig Bellamy team. I'd love to be actually
inside some of the meetings with Craig Bellamy. Oh series
(16:57):
just talking back to me, sorry, yeah, just to see
how he operates, you know, how he goes about his business,
how he communicates the players. Yeah, what depth does he
go in conversation? And that's been a near really interesting
thing for me this season with regards to being privy
to some OFE. Trent Robinson's conversations, you know what I mean,
how he speaks to players, which has been really interesting
(17:20):
for me to be involved in. Anyway, let's move on.
Next game of the round. Broncos sixty Rabbit Os fourteen.
The poor Rabbits, stuck at the bottom of the ladder,
had a horror injury toll or season half their salary
cap unavailable and ruled out for the rest of the season.
(17:41):
I mean, the end of the season can't come quick
enough for South Sydney. Wayne Bennett has this. Wayne Bennett
has never had the wooden spoons in his coaching career,
which and he's been coaching for like thirty years.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
You've got to feel bad if you get to this
season though, because it's like it's injuries. It's not like he's.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Yeah, but I mean there's a lot of teams that
have won the Wooden Spoon because of injuries.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Yeah, you know, true, it is.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
It's just unfortunately, it's like in ten years time if
they say, way, if they end up getting the Wooden
Spoon this year and ten years time, they're not going
to go, oh, they actually had a bad injuries that year,
they would just be.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Like, they got the Wooden Spoon. It doesn't actually matter.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
They don't care if you won the Wooden if you've
got injuries, if you don't, if you you know, if
you've got the one got the Wooden Spoon by one
point or no points or on four and against it
whatever it is. Yeah, this game was hard to watch.
This game was hard to watch it the end because
it was just like the the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Got the ball, they just scored, they lost Mambos Allis
and like yeah before the.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Game, no who eeenth me, no eighteenth man for sous,
which is just crazy. And obviously just speaks about there's
play their players and their availability.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Obviously lost Humphreyes as well.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Before the game, I thought the Broncos were you know
that they were deliberate. They did what they needed to do.
Tony Staggs I thought was on fire. He had probably
one of his best games this season. Adam Reynolds highlight
for the game when ten from ten with the Boode
reached two thousand, five hundred points for his career. Now
he sits second all time, only behind Cameron Smith, who
(19:15):
ended up playing over four hundred NRL games. So a
magnificent achievement from Adam Reynolds. But yeah, Broncos did what
they needed to do. Their building at the moment, I
think they're sitting six six at the moment. I'm not
sure what their draw looks like as they head into
the run home, but this team on their day are
electric fire.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
What do you think these guys stuck up as Premiership contenders?
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Yeah, look, I still think they're a little bit off,
if I'm honest. I think they've been inconsistent when they've
needed when they've had opportunities to show consistency. They've earlier
in the season, they kind of got blown off the
park by the Dogs.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
I think it was.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Maybe it was another team. I'm sorry, my memories just
jogged me. But yeah, I just think I think they
could improvement in them.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
You know, I don't.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
I don't see Grand Finals this year. But they're kind
of in a window at the moment with a lot
of their older players like Ben Hunt and Adam Reynolds,
like off contract next season and you're probably likely to
move on after that. So it's kind of like they're
in like a win now position where it's like they
need to win this year or next year and then
the change of roster is going to happen, the roll over,
(20:33):
you know. So, but are they talented enough to win
the I mean, look at their roster, they're one of
the most talented teams in the competition.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
So, yeah, they just lost to Xavier Williston for six
to eight weeks. That hurts. He's been he's been great.
I really like Xavier Wilson.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I think he's been dynamic in the middle and especially
when he's fielding on the edge as well.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
I think he's been being great.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
But yeah, you know, when we move on, Broncos do
what they needed to do the next game. This is
probably the most entertaining game of the whole weekend. Dolphins
twenty Warriors eighteen. Herbie farm Worth. The biggest takeaway from
this game Herbie farm Worth does a hamstring after making
his fourth line break of the game. Herbie was absolutely
on fire and is going to be a huge loss
for the Dolphins moving forward. When I was watching this game,
(21:19):
he made the line break and obviously I'm like, he's
about to set up hammer for a try and then
gets the hamstring and I'm like, I was saying passes past,
I was using pain. He's got like going down fall
to the ground. I'm like, yeah, fair enough. He probably
like just ripped your hamstring off the bone. And yeah,
that was obviously really unfortunate for the Dolphins, and we
(21:39):
don't want to see, you know, some of the game's
best players go down with injury like that.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
I'm not sure what.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
The do you have an update on her not yet,
could miss early four to six weeks, four to six.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
I mean it looked which, it looked six weeks. Yeah,
it looked bad.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
It looked very six weeks, six weeks, very six weeks. Yeah,
But anyway, this game, it was a tight game this one,
like it was a good game. Like obviously the conditions
were quite tough. That's what happens at Mount Smart Stadium
when it's like Dewey. The Warriors looked a little bit off,
(22:15):
I thought, with their attack, and the Dolphins were a
little bit as well.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Every time, Like to me, the.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Dolphins, I mean, the Warrior's right edge has probably let
them down a little bit this season. Their defense hasn't
been as good on that edge. And every time the
Dolphins were shifting to their left, so the.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Warrior is right.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
They looked like they were going to score every time,
but like they just couldn't execute now a little bit clunky,
They had balls on the deck, their passing, the execution
wasn't where it needed to be. And then as the
game went along went along obviously the conditions that definitely
played a part with regards to you know, the tries
being scored. You know Hammer, I thought Hammer needed to
(22:54):
get into the game more Hammers, like so you know,
when the game, you know, he wasn't getting as many
touches or you know, as many opportunities. I thought he
needed to sort of get himself involved in a bit
more in the game just because he's so so dangerous.
But yeah, obviously the back end of the game, the
Dolphins knocked back a chance to take the two and
then they throw it around at the death and basically
(23:17):
just win the game on the buzzer. I mean absolutely
why heartbroken to all the Warriors fans out there. The
Dolphins just scrape away, which is a huge, gritty win
for them. And with regards to their season and where
they sit at the moment, you're obviously battling out for
kind of that second half of the eight position, obviously
(23:38):
losing Herbie Farmworth, like we said, and the Warriors, well,
they've probably been on a little bit of a slide,
you know, in the last month. Their form hasn't has
dipped a little bit, obviously losing you know, the Luke
Metcalfe and obviously they won that really tight one against
the Knights a couple of weeks ago without playing great.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
They didn't know execute opportunities on the weekend. You know.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Some of the saying that the Warriors may slide out
of the top four, maybe maybe, I mean I still
think they finished in the top four.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
I mean, I think they've.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Got a too good a squad and rost with regards
to and what they've done this season, and they're set
up and obviously as well. I mean that Chanelle Harris
Devita was out on the weekend with his calf injury.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Wade Egan was out, Wade Egan was out, Barnet's out.
I unfortunately think they slip out. You reckon the outside
the wall. There's only one point behind them. And worries
the verse in the Dogs this week and with the person.
But yeah, it's tough. They've they've had injuries.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yeah either have The injuries have definitely hit them.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Yeah, but well we'll see. How good is New Zealand
commentary though.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
I used to live in New Zealand and used to
watch the games and stuff like that, like the commentary
commentators and like with the Kiwi accents so good. I
can't remember some of their names, but like, man they
are all time. Yeah, love it, love it all right,
let's move on. Next game. Probably the biggest upset of
the weekend Dragons eighteen Raiders twelve. Dragon's upset win in
(25:11):
wet and windy conditions in Woollongong. It was so windy
they had to hold the ball to kick the goal.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
On the tee.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
I haven't seen that for years, So Winny that someone's
you know, we just got the finger on it and
they're just holding the ball.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
The heel was empty at Woollongong. Yeah, no one was. Yeah,
it would have been so damn slippery. Yeah. I think
they closed it for safety. Yeah, probably a fair core
because everyone would have been like stacking it down the hill.
It looked weird though. It looked like COVID times when there.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Dragons scored first or female or for great pass from
king Tonia. Look the dragons like looked up for this game.
I speaking of the vowel after the game, he reckons
he called the upset before the game.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
I don't believe him. But and there was something like.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
The short kicking game to me, obviously was wet all
weekend pretty much, but the short kicking game was so
important over the course of the game and the wet conditions,
And I thought the teams that kind of executed their
short kicking game kind of won. And a lot of
the teams that kicked early, they you know, they tend
to one that win the game and put the pressure
(26:18):
on your position as well. You know, Tomoko got another
one back from camp for Canbra Dragon's kind of had
all the ball and possession in the first half running
with the wind uh and then Joe Tarpani gives a
penalty away for a late pressure on kicker, which I
was okay with. You know, I just feel like you
can't do that anymore, you know, when kickers are defenseless.
(26:40):
You know, I'm okay with the penalty there. I know,
being a kicker, like before they change the rules with
Tarik Siems absolutely creased my shoulder a couple of years ago,
popped out my ac from getting a hit in the
air and getting folded on the deck. And obviously now
it's like I'm in a defenseless position when I'm when
I'm trying to kick the ball, you know, I mean,
and obviously it's hard, and so I'm okay with that
(27:02):
penalty to Marcare he kind of had a bit of
a mixed bag in this game. I thought defensively he
was not probably where he needed to be, but he
did score a couple of tries.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
He scored an one before halftime.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Raiders were sticking to this play, which is one of
my favorite players, attacking the try line, and they went
into the break at ten.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
All. The second half I thought was a.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Little bit scrappy and it took fifteen minutes for the
Dragons to score through a nice pass from Luch.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
And the Dragons love this play.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
They run it a lot where instead of their center,
you know, running a hard line inside his opposite center,
he kind of drifts out on his outside shoulder and
when the winger is kind of up defensively, it puts
pressure on their line. And Luke does it so well
when he gets the ball in his hands. But I
know Vow loves that play and the Dragons they do
that play really well.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Senate.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
It's kind of like a center drift play where like
the Senate just changed his line from inside shoulder to
soft line on the outside on shoulder, and they would
you could tell there was a plan around Xavier Savage.
I thought, I think Xavier Savage is such a diner
and dyna white in attack. I don't think defensively he's
kind of where he needs to be with regards to
some of his reads. I still think he's got improvement
(28:15):
in that part of his game and consistency. But this
game ended up with two tries each. But obviously, like
we said, the Dragons. Their penalty goals obviously made the
difference for the Raiders. They made fourteen errors in this game,
which is very high for them. Obviously having a look
at some of the stats over the course of the
season the Raiders, that's fourteens very hot. Usually they're in
(28:36):
single digits. Fourteen is very high for them and probably
a wake up call for them. I mean, they're still
first place at the moment. They's going to buy in hand.
But a grinding win for the Dragons, So I don't
think many thought had that in them.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
I think this was the surprise of the round. But
I also think for Raiders, like it's one of those
losses that they need going into the tawel end of
the season and going into finals. It's like a bit
of a wake up call. Yeah. Yeah, I think they'll
bounce back from that for sure. Yeah. I mean, who
the Raiders play next week, let me know.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Rely, mainly it's a big game for mainly jeez, they're
tenth mainly yeah, but Raiders.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Yeah, I mean, it's there's still five games ago. It's crazy.
I was telling you before this, like I was sitting
at the pub yesterday watching the Sharks game, I was like,
even though we're winning, I don't really feel like I
feel like the end of the season should be here.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Yeah, there's still five games ago, there's still five weeks
of games.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Still a month and a half of footy left. Wold, Yeah, world, world, Wild.
Let's move on the next game.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Roosters twenty mainly four played this game at Brookvoale level.
Played in terrible conditions, but what a win by the boys.
This was awesome, great win. Defensively, unbelievable goal line defense,
scrambling defense, try savers to Desco was outstanding, some of
his defensive plays. I thought it Edges were great defensively,
(30:04):
our middles, I thought the Lion Speed, Radley, Spencer, Lindsey Collins,
I thought defensively they were all outstanding. We had a
great week last week and we spent them a couple
of days in camp on the Central Coast and really
just enjoy getting around each other, spend some time together,
but also just go over some areas of the game
where we feel like, you know, we can improve on. Obviously,
(30:24):
defense is a big one you talk about, you know, defense,
and the top teams at the end of the season
are the best defensive teams, So you know, you kind
of want to put all your eggs into your defense
because you know, you know, with you know, teams can
attack with regards to their expression of how they play their.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
Qualities with the ball.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
But defensively, you know, I thought was one's the game
in this game, you know that wind played a part
as well. Obviously, the wind, rain, the conditions, you know,
mainly had it in the first half. They scored early,
they had all the possession early on, but the Boys
just hung tough. They kept kicking the ball back, they
kept completing and they weathered the storm. And then the
(31:04):
second half they had the wind, they controlled the ball,
they controlled the tempo of the game, and ultimately, you know,
when they got the chances, they executed and made plays.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
And I felt like.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
It's a tough thing to do at Brookvale. I mean,
you know, the crowd was pretty silent. You know, usually
when mainly a winning and the crowds into it, it's
a tough place to play. So the Boys did a
great job at managing that, but also the conditions. They
played the conditions way better than the than the Seagles did.
And Sammi Walker, I feel like had one of his
best games, you know, he felt I felt like he
(31:38):
was in absolutely everything. Obviously his short kicking game, his
vision is just you know, one of his key assets
of his game. He's passing and kicking is on point,
and I thought he was outstanding as well. So a
great win for us and for the boys, and that
kind of sets us up for you know, big back
(31:58):
end of the year obviously, you know, like said five
weeks ago, still building and improving, but yeah, looking to
get into that eight.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
The boys are so.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
A great job by them, all right, let's move on
to the next game. Sunday Panthers thirty Titans twenty six.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Another game of the round, well another game of the round.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Was this was just a tale of two halves. The
cliche there it is. Panthers all first half, Titans all
second half. Panthers scored early through Jenkins, who's had a
phenomenal season this year. Thomas Jenkins, the milky bar kid.
I'm pretty sure they call him Panthers at the first
half of Doom led twenty four kneel into the break.
(32:39):
Then it all changed. I wont to what Daisy said
at halftime, he's our boys, just get out there, have
a go. He said, have a go, let's reset, have
a go. Just throw the footy around. Jayden Campbell was
just like took that personal and just said I'm him
in the second half.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Does he stay at the Titans Jayden Campbell? You know,
like when they're all fit and healthy.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Kinney Brimson, Campbell, they're all full backs obviously foreign retiring
at the end of the season, potentially for Feeda leaving it.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
But Tino's out.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
Yeah, Like, I mean, I don't know where Jayden Campbell,
if he lee, I'd like to see him stay at
the Titans. I like Jayden Campbell. I think he's he's
a gun. He's a gun, and they need to get
him as much ball as possible because he was all chriestrated,
his fingerprints all over that that performance for the Titans
in the second half. But the big, the big turning
point in this game was the Isaac Tago sinbin, which
(33:36):
helped the Titans. They scored three tries while he was
in the bin, and it just goes to show like
the discipline you need to have, like if you have
someone in the bin, like you guarantee to concede at
least one try, Like it is hard you know what
I mean.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
That's why. I mean, I think it was.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
I don't know when it was when they were just
sin bitting everyone and like it was just ruining the game.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
Yeah, I mean it was this year. Was this year
that was just sinbinning everyone?
Speaker 1 (34:02):
It was like I remember because it was like sin
binning sin bins are ruining the game. We all still
remember that title for the podcast.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Anyway, three tries scored while Tea was in the bin.
The Titans were just rolling on fire. And then that
obviously the trainer incident, which was spoken about at the
top of the show was.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
It was a controversial one. Whatever. What I want to
ask you is that high tackle on Sami. Yeah, that
was called not a penalty try, but just a penalty.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
What's your Yeah, I mean if you collect someone high
in the act of scoring, I feel like it's penalty try.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Yeah, you know what I meant. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
So, so I don't know if they got that one right.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Yeah, I don't think they did.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
But yeah, because there was one I remember drinking a
couple of weeks ago. I think it was kick Out
that colocked him high drink he was going to score.
Kick Out hit him. I thought it was high and
I was like, oh, a penalty try, but they let it.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
They let it go. Yeah, I think that won't changed
the game as well. Yeah, fuck Titans. Yeah, they were
unfortunate not to win this game.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
They were And the Cleary field goal that was absolutely clutch,
and the Cans Kenny Mitch Kenny pass was clutch as well.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
I mean, let's give Mitch Kenny some flowers.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Year that twenty meter freaking dummy half pass out the
back to Cleary who's sitting forty one meters out.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
I think it was passing left to right, left.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
To right too, which is obviously not potentially not his
preferred side, still gets the pass, and obviously, like the
Titans are like on their ten meter line, so they've
got to run thirty meters to try and put that
pressure on. I just thought it was like a really,
really freaking well executed player. Obviously we know how clutch
Nathan Cleary is, but to go for the two there,
I think it was like a minute it might have
been a minute thirty left, you know, in the game,
(35:52):
and if he misses that, it's almost like game it's
almost like game over. Like if they've to not go
for the try and to go for the two point
field goal, Like it's a big call. Most guys are
going for the trying that situation, I feel, but for
clear to just be like, just give me the ball.
I'm going back to the forty. I'm going to hit
the two pointer. Tired this tired, this damn thing.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Up and commentators Bossy was going off. Boss.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
He was like, Boss, he takes something before this game
because he was he was just on one this whole game.
Did he honestly did.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
He take that before the game? He could have? I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
It sounded like Boss he was just on two times
speed and just like just crazy, like.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
I love listening to that game. Yeah he's no, he's
doing a good job, Boss. But yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Anyway, they get to Golden Point and then the Panthers,
well they win it in Golden Point and they go
towards the young back rower who's defending in the centers
and they put a lead on his inside shoulder and
he has to check the lead and go and the
case McLain gets his speed gets on the outside.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
This is well executed.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
This play instead of just running the normal play where
the back roller leads and the fullbacks are out of
the back. They get an extra pass on it and
they put the lead runner one hole wider, and then
the young fella.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
His names jogged me at the moment. I think Alick Yankee. Yeah,
the number eleven, number eleven, that's it, that's him. Jacob
alec Yankee, Jacob all.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Right, he Jacob, he yeah, he checked the lead, he
did the right thing. But then McClain just got on
the outside and just scooted on his outside too quick. Obviously,
the group held out on his man and then passed
back to t Luney to Lungey scores the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
I think it's eight in a row. The Panthers on
fire and they're cracking the four. They're getting close. What
are they on now and what's the fourth place on?
Warriors are on thirty, Panthers on twenty nine with the
same amount of games they played their buyers. Pennyth have Knights,
(37:57):
Warriors have Bulldogs man. So we could be sitting here
next week with Penruth in top four with the season
they've had. War is the one. Yeah, Panters are one
point out of the four. Yo. They dragged forth Sport.
It's crazy. Go down to camera week one which I
can see them winning. Gosh, don't god, God shit, man,
(38:21):
that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Bro, that's crazy, bro crazy. All right, let's move on.
Next game. Tigers twenty eight, Bulldogs fourteen. I mean, another upset,
another upset round this weekend.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Tiger's in a little bit of strip today in the news. Actually,
I don't know. I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Yeah, I'm not sure this. I don't want to do
the simple, but I don't want to do it on camera.
The symbol what's doing there? I mean, I didn't even
know that was a thing they.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Get blue up on TikTok. This the guy that sledges
the dragons all the time. Oh yeah, yeah, I don't know, yeah, yeah, yeah,
but he started the trend, I think, does it right? Yeah?
What language did in? I don't want to I don't
want to say and I want to say Arab, but
I'm not one hundred percent. Let me do my research. Yeah,
(39:08):
but yes, that's that's that's good from you. Yep. Be
respectful and get.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
Our facts right before we sort of put it out
there and talk about it anyway. Obviously, this game was
built up as like Lachlan Galvin versus the Tigers, obviously
playing for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Now a huge result for the Tigers.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
And obviously, excuse me, terrible conditions as we spoke about
before the rain that was.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
That pored over Sydney on the weekend.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Obviously I did mention the early kicking game, early kicks
in this game, and the kicking game which was self
is so effective in the wet you know, I was
executed to perfection, I thought in this game by the
Tiger is a huge result for them. Some desperate defense
early for the Tigers. And Adam Dewey, I mean, have
(39:52):
a day. Adam Dewey, What a what a game, what
a season he's having off contract, you know, apparently has
attracted two year offer from the Dragons. At the moment,
I'd be I think he'd be a great addition to
the Dragons. I think so too, Debellon leaving, like almost
you'd give him thirteen at.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
The Dragons the Rivers he was going to play lock there, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Like bring him the thing without him do he is,
like he is good at multiple positions, so he's a
starter at center in the halves, you know at thirteen,
you know, obviously played in the halves on the weekend.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Fainu push back to the bench.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
But yeah, obviously set up one with a pickup, ran
the length another. I mean I didn't know that. I
didn't know the bro had that much speed. Yeah, he's quick.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
He's quick. He's quick for a big men. He quite
big actually, esecially after all the injuries has had. Yeah, good,
good to see.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
It's good to see him free playing football with confidence,
running fast, putting games together.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
It is great to see.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
Well.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Skelton got his second off a nice kick by chorus Ow.
The early kick on the deck was effective. Or we
can like I just said, dogs scored just before halftime,
and the Tigers went into halftime with twenty to four
score line. Alex say Fath, he was pretty fired up
in this game, actually, and he spent ten minutes in
(41:16):
the sin bin, you know for that high shot and
obviously you know the high shot by Critter.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
What's doing there? Why isn't he go on that? Confused
the shoot out of me?
Speaker 1 (41:30):
So, I mean sorry confused the Yeah, I was like,
that's what we want as fans and players, and it's
stakeholders in the game.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
We want consistency, give us consistency.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
We don't want different rules for different players and different players, and.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
I don't think anyone would have been mad if got
sent up and no one would have questioned different.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
I wonder if he's been charged to that. He probably's
probably has been charged to that many. Interesting, I mean,
that's yeah, that's crazy. Anyway, Yeah, I probably thought if
he should have been if Save Farth went to the bin,
should have went to them in.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
Uh charges have been dropped, chargesper trouble, a charge from
the Match review committee. Yeah right, yeah. Anyway, Tigers end
(42:23):
up winning against Galvin.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
Obviously we saw the pictures of Jerome Law and Galvin
chatting post game, which you love to see.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Obviously, you know, you.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Put it all out there on the field, and sometimes
you have to remember that this is a game and
it's all good at the end of the day. So
good onto those two guys are having a chat and
whatever they were talking about. Sorry, Save Farth is going
to copy three match band which will put the end
of season. I think save half three game suspension at
the moment, Wow, if he accepts geez and crit nothing
(42:56):
nothings doing what it's absolutely doing there jeez, but yeah,
the dogs are they sliding at the moment?
Speaker 2 (43:07):
You tell her, what are you thinking, I don't know,
they can see twenty eight points.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
I mean remember earlier in the year defensively, they were
just on fire. They had like a couple of back to.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
Back clean sheets. Yeah, you know, it's a big loss
for them.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
And like, I know, one thing I picked up in
this game, and obviously there was a couple of balls
on the deck, was I feel like some of the
Lachland Galvin's passing out the back, like he he gets
the ball and he like he cocks it up. He
loads it so much like he almost like cocks it
(43:40):
up and just like it doesn't look very like suddenly
Like I think he needs to use like his risks.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
More and just be a tad more.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
Like if you go to the line like you can
you can pass to someone in that position like holding
the ball there and then like use your wrists to
like pass. Like if you see some of the best
Paul ball players, they flick their wrists instead of like
their whole body, just one thing of the thing.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
One of the things I noticed with Locky Galvin is
like he goes and he just seems to cock the
pass up really high and like seems to just pass
it like that.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Where he doesn't have much risk. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I mean he might he must think nothing of it.
I don't know, just like me, if you've seen it,
if you guys have seen it, like I'd love to,
you know what I mean, Like, I'm much more more risks.
I feel like if you can go to the line
and then just play like more yeah, more.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Like just a little disguised.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
Yeah, just you disguise it, you know, I mean of
cocking it all back and then passing it like that.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
I was just one thing I saw. I think he
can improve on that for sure. Definitely. Yeah, good being
for the Tigers.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
Obviously they were getting into the crowd as well, and
like we said, they're in a bit of trouble.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
But I don't Thinkvin's the reason they lost the game. No, No,
definitely not. Definitely, Tigers would have been up for this
game no matter what. Yeah, like and it was a
wet with a game, anything can happen. But yeah, dogs,
Dogs have some some soul searching. These last Dogs have
some improvement in them.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
Yeah, they need to improve because their second half of
the year hasn't been no near what it was like
for their first Good anyway, last game with the round
Sharks thirty two, Cowboys twelve. Well, Sharks just have the
wood over the Cowboys. Their record against the Cows is
incredible the last couple of years. I mean, I think
the only time the Cows had beating them was when
we beat them in the twenty twenty two finals when
(45:24):
our kicked that field goal, which was I mean, I
would rather win that game and lose every other game
I've played against the Sharks over the three Yes, I
played for him.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
You know that game was absolutely that was incredible.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
It was Sharks had the win in the first half
and they were all over them. The Sharks were powerful.
They were playing through the middle of the Cowboys. They
obviously they drop all their back rolls to come back
under against the rock a lot the Sharks do every time.
Yeah you go, t Wilton just comes back under. T
Wilton come back under. Same thing with Britain a corps
(45:59):
when he is on the other edge. And they play
a lot of short passes to like them forwards front
rollers where they'll play short almost like in this field
position here, and then they'll read keep going the short side.
They play a lot of like it's called like short short.
They play like a lot of short shot footy. They
love short sides. And the Cows in the second half,
(46:20):
I mean, the Cows had to go on the second
half obviously, Griffin nine got that tryal off the Reese
Robs and Grubber just before I think it was just
after halftime, was it, Yeah, I think it was. Yeah, sorry, yeah,
just after halftime, yes, sorry, but yeah, the Cows like
their second half was much better than their first half.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
But obviously, yeah, just you know, nowhere near probably where
it just tough conditions out there was tough conditions, you know,
I mean, but both teams are playing in it.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
Both teams get forty minutes running the same way with
the wind once again.
Speaker 2 (46:54):
Blake Brayley like his short kicking game on the line
was Yeah, it's definitely something he's done more. Yeah, second
half of this year. He's a great kicker.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
He doesn't kick nowhere near enough as he should, I feel, Yeah,
he started doing that a bit more. Yeah, I mean,
disappointing result for the Cowboys. It's looking likely that they'll
miss the eight.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
Now. I think they're on nineteen points and eleventh or
twelfth position. Yeah, they're in thirteenth with nineteen.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
Thirteenth position and nineteen points. So yeah, obviously they're they're
facing a couple of setbacks to injury with their middle
forwards not being available, you know, McLean McIntyre, Tamalalo. Their
bench on the weekend was very young, very very young.
I had a debutante, Imali Bitogan from Tanzania, Africa, so
(47:44):
congratulations to him. Mali spent some time with him. Obviously
Caden Lars is only a youngster.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Ah. So yeah, they're you know, what do you what
do you think for them next season? They've got to improve.
Speaker 1 (47:55):
On defense, on defense, and I'm not sure what defense.
I'm not sure it's their system or something needs to
change for them defensively, because it's just it hasn't worked
for them this season. Like we know, they can attack,
They're brilliant with the ball when they're on their day.
You know, you look at their team Tommy and drink
(48:16):
water drinking when they combine, you know, they're so so dangerous. Obviously,
adding Reid Marni next year as well, you know, who's
going to be a huge asset to them, I feel.
But I think their biggest improvements are defense, you know,
and that's that's like I said before, the top teams
are the best defensive teams, and they're they're not a
top defensive team at the moment, so that's that's the
improvement that they have in them.
Speaker 4 (48:38):
All right.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
Let's move on to the top five.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
Now, the top five this week is the top five, sorry,
my top five favorite suburban grounds in Sydney. Now this
is my opinion, so I don't care what you think,
all right, So if you're going to drop a comment
and talk to you about my opinion on my favorites,
then go go for it. Number five Henson Park Top
(49:06):
five suburban grounds because of the beer footy and food festival.
Have you seen some of the pictures coming out of
Henson Park with the beer footing and food wrestling? It
is insane, Like well done? Whoever made this come up
with this idea like this is absolutely incredible. Obviously Henson
Park was massive back in the day and they hold
a lot of news to US Cup games and the
crowd is just yeah when they get a good crowd there. Obviously,
(49:29):
the beer footy food festival makes it insane, So well
done to Newtown and whoever came up with that or
because phenomenal, I'd love to go next year.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
I'd love to go. Number four, I've got Bellmore Oval.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
I haven't played an NFL game at Belmore Oval, but
when they do, obviously they get like one or two
there a year.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
It looks absolutely incredible. The scenes are phenomenal. The dogs
always love playing there.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
I remember Josh Reynolds had an awesome game there a
couple of years ago. I think you know Hodgkinson and
that when they used to play together, which is really cool.
Number three I've got Brooks Oval. An extremely tough place
to play, but yeah, suburban has a nice suburban feel.
Obviously he's got the hill as well, you know, very
very you know, small ground, old school ground, but obviously
(50:14):
has a new grand scene there as well, which is
which is nice.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
Number two I've got like Art Oval. I played a.
Speaker 1 (50:21):
Finals game, sorry, last round of the season when I
got into the finals in twenty ninety against the Tigers,
Lochard Oval was packed the hill playing there like it
is such a fortress. It's like you at the crowds
just getting into you at Lochard Oval. So uh that
was Yeah. I like Ightard Oval a great great suburban ground.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
Excuse me.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
And Number one I mean, it's probably pretty easy to guess.
My favorite suburban ground is Shark Park. It's five minutes
from my house. I grew up supporting the Sharks. I
grew up watching the games on the family hill. It
is a suburban ground. It is small, it is humble, facilities,
year old. But we love it, you know, I mean,
(51:02):
and opposition teams they don't like going there. So it's
a tough place to play. It's a tough place to
win as an opposition team. And yeah, that was my
favorite top five suburban grounds. Let's go, what have we
got next to? Victor all Right?
Speaker 2 (51:18):
Bigfooty Guy of the Week. It's that time.
Speaker 1 (51:20):
Our three nominations for big Footy Guy of the Week,
and they were starting off. Reese Walsh was dynamic on
the weekend one try, three try assists, one line break,
one line break assists and three tackle breaks. He was
dominant in that sixty point drubbing against Our Sydney on
the weekend. Our next nomination with Jaden Campbell a one
intercept try, eleven tackle breaks, two hundred and forty meters
(51:42):
run with the ball, one interfered goalkick attempt by a
trainer as well on the stat sheet well under Jadan Kemble,
he's been absolutely killing it for the Titans.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
At the moment.
Speaker 1 (51:54):
And our last nomination who we gave him some flowers
before Adam Dewey one try one, try a see one
line break, five tackle breaks in one hundred and sixty
seven meters. He's been great for the Tigers, just playing
in multiple positions and doing it really really well. So
well done to him. And let's be one of the questions, Victor,
let's go hit.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
Me first up, who would be the scariest player to
run out? Run it straight up? Geez?
Speaker 1 (52:20):
Honestly, any middle forward in the any starting middle forward
in the NRL. I mean, you look at some of
our forwards, like, can you imagine running it Farho White,
Spencer Lanu, and Lindsey Collins measure on three of them.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
Even Angus Crichton. I think I've seen a video of
Angus Crichton hitting one of the Inspired on employee boies.
Oh yeah it was Dyler that did it. Y Yeah, yeah,
he folded.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
Honestly, any starting middle forward, they're all freaking scary.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
Next up, favorite game to watch this week? Was your
favorite game this week? My favorite game to watch this week?
Speaker 1 (52:53):
Was the I think it has to be the Dolphins
Warriors game. I mean, I mean that was that went
down to the wire. I was a quality game and
the Dolphins came back and wanted on the bars and
I'm sitting there going wha, no, whoa, whoa, because it
ain't over till it's over, boys and girls, and Dolphins
did business, did the thing.
Speaker 2 (53:15):
Yeah. Thanks. What did you think if Mahali's daboot?
Speaker 1 (53:20):
Yeah, Marley and Mali's he's a bit older, like he's
still early twenties, but yeah, I thought he was pretty solid.
I mean it was always going to be tough, you know,
coming up against a good quality, quality team against Cronulla,
and obviously you know when you're playing and playing on
the back foot a little bit. But I thought his
carriages were strong. He's a strong kid to Marley, you
(53:41):
know what I mean. He knows what he's doing. He's
been ready, loves the game, very very smart away from
the field as well. So yeah, I was very happy
for him and I thought he had a solid game.
Speaker 2 (53:52):
Do you think Coronela can make the top four with
a relatively easy run home and a pretty healthy team?
Very healthy at the moment, I think, yeah, I mean
I do.
Speaker 1 (54:04):
I have a feeling that if the Warriors slip like
that fourth spot, it could be I kind of feel
it potentially might be the Panthers could be the ones.
Obviously the Sharks are only two points kind of outside
that fourth position.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
Like to me, the top three are locked.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
But I feel like the Warriors, you know, are the
ones that have the potential to drop out, and then
it's either it's probably probably Panthers that go in. Maybe
not Sharks. I feel like if someone goes in, it's
probably the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Yeah, I think. So. What happens after full time at
an away game?
Speaker 1 (54:41):
After full time out and away, I mean, usually you
shake hands with your position and then usually obviously media
interviews on the field, and then if you've got any
friends or family at the game, usually you kind of
find out where those seats are where they're sitting, and
you try to head up to them and say hello
and whatever. And then after that, usually there's like a
(55:04):
supporter's bay, you know, for your team and like at
the away stadium, so usually you go over there and
say thanks for coming, and get some photos and sign
some autographs with the fans who have traveled to the
away game and then literally going to the sheds and
sing the song.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
And you know what I mean, that's about it.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
And it depends if you were like if you're a
flying away team, you know what I mean. We always
used to say, like when I was at the Cows,
we beat mainly in mainly for example, one night and
we went over to sort of our supporters, shook their
hands and said thank you and gave him a clap
and said thanks for coming. Went back to the hotel
and then we had some dinner. Then then we went
(55:44):
out in their town and drank their beers. But we
took their two points. That's all we used to say. Yeah,
we're out, We're out in their town, we're drinking their beers.
We took their two points, you know. I mean, it's
a cool feeling win in a way.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
Yep, yep. How can one improve their speed? Geez?
Speaker 1 (56:05):
Improve speed by lifting weights dynamically practice your speed obviously
like a technique. I think it's like definitely like leg
weights as well. I mean, I'm not going to sit
here and tell you the whole program of leg weights
that you need to lift weights to be dynamic and
fast and obviously. I feel like, you know, there's a
(56:28):
lot of coaches out there that teach speed as well.
Obviously in the football system you do get taught speed,
but obviously not to the detail as you would if
you went sort of coach. But I mean I'm someone
who'd never really had speed, So.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
Yeah, do you ever have a speed coach?
Speaker 1 (56:46):
Not a specific speed coach, like we have a you know,
you know, strength and conditioning coaches and we do speed work,
you know, but not an actual coach where he's role
he's like a speed coach.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
What's the best heckle you've heard while goal kicking?
Speaker 1 (57:05):
I mean there's always the old school ones, like the shoelacers.
You always used to hear shoelacers untired. There was a
Lollileague's one that I think the Tigers guys used to say,
Uh yeah, some people like yelling out to like stuff
about the vlog. To me, yeah that's about it, to
(57:28):
be honest, I aw big goal kicking guy or whatever
that that comes out.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
Yeah, Scott blocked the noise. Yeah, like it's it's like anything,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
I love you, love the noise, love the opportunity, Like
if you want to say it and I kick it
like get that up. Yeah, uh next up, Lockie Galvin.
Do you think he has been a good addition to
the side so far.
Speaker 2 (57:51):
Yeah, Like I.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
Think I think that what they've invested into him with
the future, you know what I mean. So I think
he's the future of the team. But I don't think
he's had the impact or the consistency this year as
probably as he.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
Would have liked.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
Like I still he's played some good games for the Dogs,
but it's just like the Dog's form has probably gone
downhill the back end of the season. But look, I
like this kid. I think he's got a really big
future in front of him, but obviously still probably trying
to learn, you know, everything about Canterbury and you know,
the DNA of the team and the club and everything
like that. So you know, we've got to give him
(58:25):
the benefit of the doubt and give him some time there.
Speaker 2 (58:28):
What's your usual go to feed before match the night before.
Speaker 1 (58:33):
I don't usually have like a set meal usually like anything.
Usually like to have a lot of carbs just for energy.
But I'm not like I have to have spag ball.
I'll literally just eat you know, I eat quite healthy
obviously fuel. Make sure I've had enough carbs for energy
and obviously the day of the game. Always liked to
eat three hours before a game. Usually it's leftovers before
(58:55):
from the night before. But yeah, as long as it's
healthy and it's very you know it's fueling, then I'm
good with it.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
So is it three hours before a game? That's my
last meal before a game.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
Always make sure I have something three hours before kickoff,
just enough to digest and you get a lot of
energy out.
Speaker 2 (59:11):
Of what's your favorite attack to throw when attacking inside
the ten I've got a whole ten minute video on this.
Whoever's asked me this video?
Speaker 1 (59:20):
This nicergeant yep go and search attacking the try line
on YouTube. There's a whole i think it's ten or
fifteen minute video on my favorite player attacking the trial
and you'll absolutely enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
What happens behind the scenes when you get sent to
the bin.
Speaker 1 (59:37):
When you get sent to the bin, you go into
the sheds and usually that one of the boys or
the eighteenth or nineteenth man comes in and just sits
with you. The team manager comes in and sort of
checks in on you, and you kind of just sit
there and you just literally watch the TV and you
watch the game. Literally that's it for ten minutes, you
(59:57):
know what I mean. It's like you have a chat
to the other boys who playing, who may have come
in and say hello, and then you kind of try
Like I remember when I was at ten, I was
kind of like, obviously there's cameras in the sheds. I
just try and go into a room where there's no
camera and like there's a TV so the camera can't.
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Actually see me.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
But yeah, most guys just sitting there and talk to
the other boys who are not playing and have a chat,
and then the gramm as he comes out gets you
and then you you usually get booed when you go
back on.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
Just so someone comes out and tells you you've got
you can come out now. Yeah, yeah, you knows where
you like kind of doze up and forget that you're nah,
I haven't been that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
I haven't been in the sybby that many times, but nah,
it's yeah, you're almost like itching it a bit, and
like you're right in the way of the game too.
It's like it's so close and like if your team
says a try or scores a trait, like yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
You're like a proper fan, you know what I mean.
Love it? Yeah, that's it sweet all right, Thanks Victor.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
