Speaker 1 (00:02):
What's going on everybody, And welcome back to another episode
of the Challenge Fanatics podcast, where we are here to
break down everything Challenge related. My name is Josh Green.
You can find us on all social media platforms at
Challenge fan Pod and we're here for a little two
for the price of one. Today we saw the schedule
(00:22):
the next two weeks. There are no Challenge episodes as
it is Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, so the
show has taken a little bit of a hiatus. It
worked out perfect for us, so we will be recapping
episodes sixteen and seventeen to see the Final ten become
the final eight in a while. We're these some action
(00:46):
packed episodes, some big time eliminations, a lot to get into.
Something tells me this will not be a normal recap
and we'll just be bouncing around everywhere. But I'm looking
forward to it and to recap two episodes, I need
my co host, Austin Fiegelstad. Austin, how you doing.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I'm great. We're ready to rock a couple of pods. Yeah,
we're recap it up until the final which is in
two weeks. So we're excited for the for the little hiatus, here,
but we're also excited for the final that comes after
big time.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
You know, we're we're having fun. And I mean in
this this Must Win Era episode sixteen, the first Era,
we got something that we haven't seen on the Challenge
in a while, which was really exciting for me to see.
How about Burger King getting their sponsorship in here. I
(01:45):
know we've seen it maybe like once in these New
Era seasons, but I love when they bring Burger King
to the challenge, like.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, or any or any like little challenge you know,
with with a sponsor or a sponsor whatever. I think
it's like it's just it's just fun. And then and
then there's you know, there's actually something worth playing for
and stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, like way back in the day they did Oh
my god, what was it back when it was like
a huge deal. There was like radio Shack like away
in the early.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, yeah, radio shack with the phones.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Oh yeah, when the clues would come in on the phones. Yeah. Yeah,
So it was it was nice to see Burger King
because I was like, man, that's that's from years ago.
So you know they they end up having a fun party,
uh with Burger King. After this first Daily this one
(02:38):
has been in the trailer for a while here, how
about them hot wiring in this first daily, They're hot
wiring a car based off this pt, this puzzle, and
then once it gets solved, the car drives off a cliff.
This was this was pretty intense to then swim finishing
(03:04):
with the swim just a wild daily just casually driving
a car off a cliff.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Yeah, I don't know. I thought it was uh, I
thought it was like kind of dumb. The first part
the swim was hella tough, Like yeah, that that part
was crazy, but like the other things, you know, you
kind of just like, all right, why do we do it?
So yeah, the first part it's like interesting, but you know,
I mean again it did trip up you know, the
(03:34):
people that lost like it tripped them up and they
had issues with the puzzle parts.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
So yeah, so a few things with the swim, Like
we saw Jordan's weakness excuse me not Jordan's Kyland's weakness.
And he's struggling with the swimming. You know, granted it's
a long swim, but he is not out there doing well,
(04:03):
you know, very tough for him, and everyone's talking about
how like this guy does not have a weakness, and
then all of a sudden, the swim starts, and I
feel like we're getting a little bit of a foreshadowing
maybe for what potentially could be Kylon's Achilles heel, because
(04:25):
we see him keeping up with Jordan in the endurance part.
He's very good at puzzles. But we know that swimming
is in every final, some portion of it is a swim,
So I don't know if you saw it that way,
but I'm wondering if kylons, if this could be his
(04:48):
like achilles heel, or what holds him back in the final. Yeah,
I mean I think it'll be.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
I think it'll be a challenge for him. I don't
think I don't know if it's going to lose him
the final, but like, it'll be a challenge, you know.
I think if he has to swim, you know, he'll
have he'll have struggles with it. But I think again,
I think he makes it up in various parts throughout,
you know, throughout the final. So we'll have to see
(05:13):
how it works and well to see how much swimming
is in. I mean, there could be no swimming, so
I think that's another thing too.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
So the person we haven't mentioned yet I mean, we've
got Rachel and Jordan, you know, for the men and
women who are starting off really strong pretty much how
it's been all season, as well as Tory doing really
well this season in the individual challenges. But Corey is
really struggling here. And I feel like these last couple
(05:40):
episodes leading up to it, we've been getting Corey saying like,
I didn't come this far to get this far. I'm
here to you know, I've done everything in my challenge
career that I could aside from win, and you know,
I didn't think it was gonna happen this way the
(06:01):
way it does. Later on. I figured like maybe he
goes in against Jordan or against Bananas and loses. But
a very tough performance from Corey on the puzzle, because
this season he's been doing a lot better, but this
one tripped him up.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Yeah, and then you kind of at that point too,
you kind of start getting you kind of start getting
that feeling that you know this, this doesn't seem too
good for him.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
No, no, And on top of Burger King giving everybody
their their fun little feast, we have Burger King giving
the winners Tory and Jordan five grand each, which you know,
is not a ton of money for these people, especially
after taxes, but it's it's something, and I know you
(06:53):
and I have always said throughout these seasons that if
they consistently threw in random like daily rewards, that people
would be more motivated to win and have power. Yeah, definitely,
So I wish they were doing that or throwing in
like ten k or just I don't know, more rewards
(07:17):
so that people would be more willing to win dailies.
At least the way it's set up this season, it's
like win or go in, so you know, people are
more willing to win. But it's definitely been a problem
on other seasons of the flag Ship, but on this
this elimination or excuse me, this daily, like you said,
(07:41):
I heard Corey's exit interview on some of the other
press and they were asking him since, like it started
this daily, it started in the you know, it was
really bright out and everything and it was like pitch black.
When they were done, he said that each person since
turn on this challenge took an hour and a half.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, that's crazy. Well, that swim had to be crazy.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Well, no, he wasn't saying like obviously the turns were
a fraction amount of that. It was like getting the
car out of the water.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
And oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I did think of that
when I saw that happen, I was like, how long
does it take.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Them to do this? Yeah, and I'm sure they obviously,
like did a ton of safety precaution and they had
to figure out how they were going to get the
car out of the water back up on ground and everything.
But yeah, he said, between everybody doing their turn and
then you know, securing the car, getting the car out
(08:41):
of the water, it was taking like an hour and
a half per turn. And that's just crazy to me
because that that is a disadvantage. Normally it's better. We
see it all the time on the challenge. If you
go earlier, it's a disadvantage. But to me, on this challenge,
it would be better to go earlier because could you
(09:03):
imagine waiting You're only going fourth or fifth, but you've
waited six hours to go. I would be going crazy
just waiting around for six hours. But so interesting challenge here.
Carl Maria gets last place for the girls, so she's
gonna get a penalty in this second episode that we
(09:26):
watched this past week, and Derek unfortunately ends up getting last.
Him and Corey. It seemed like they were really close
for the last place. He gets last, and there's no
need for a chamber this week because Derek got last
place and Jordan won the challenge. The targets were Jordan, Derek,
(09:52):
and Corey. Jordan won the challenge, Derek got last, so
Corey is automatically going in against Derek, and this is
where we really start to see how this becomes Derek's
episode here. I know people try not to read the
(10:13):
edit of you know, these reality shows, but I just
I know how they they do the typical like if
I win, I'm gonna do with the money blank. They
do that for every person who's going to go home.
They weren't doing that with Derek. Like they were talking
(10:34):
about his sister and how she unfortunately committed suicide the
week that he left to go to All Stars two.
It was her birthday the day of this elimination against Corey,
and he really just like even in the simple conversations
(10:54):
he was having in the working out he was doing,
he really locked in here. And I was I was surprised,
you know, because we've seen Corey like really locked in,
and I know he's been your winner pick all season.
(11:15):
But this was I mean, they both you know, treated
each other with respect, you know, leading up to the
elimination and after. But it was this was a good battle.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Yeah, it definitely was. It was better than I think
everybody thought.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
It was gonna be a really fun elimination too. Like
I was glad. I know, we saw the brick puzzle
with Bananas and Nanni, you know, losing in the Rider
dies elimination. Right before the final, we we get a
call from Cheyenne, which I always enjoy when Corey gets
(11:56):
to call his kid and Cheyenne and says, don't be
gone for a month and a half just to be
a loser. And it was right after that we then
get Derek saying, we get Jenny trying to like cash
(12:17):
in on this this deal that her and THEO made
to save Derek and Carra, which is so ridiculous because
THEO was gonna save Kara every time. They didn't have
to make a deal about it. But I don't know
about you, but I was just laughing so hard thinking
(12:39):
that Jenny was going to be able to be safe
when Derek could save Karl and Maria and Michelle like
he's going to save them every time.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Oh yeah, it was no question.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Yeah, not not a shadow of a doubt. I just
I was like, look, Derek probably isn't even thinking about
who he's gonna save because Corey's been on a tear
and has been taking out a lot of big threats
in this game in elimination, and over these last few years,
(13:16):
eliminations have really become his thing. So I doubt he's
even thinking about that. But if he is, like, he
knows he's saving Michelle, he knows he's saving Carl Maria.
It's been clear the whole season that he's been one
of the few people in Carl Maria's corner when all
(13:38):
the Laurel stuff was going down. He was one of
the first people there, and him and Michelle have built
a really strong relationship that we've seen multiple times as
paid dividends. So you know, Derek is a little nervous
if it's a physical elimination. You know, we everyone sees
(14:02):
Corey Wharton. He's a big guy, and he has done
quite well in these physical eliminations. I found this interesting
that people tried to say that this I guess in
a sense, this one was a puzzle, but this was
(14:24):
way more physical. So I give Derek even more credit
because this was a large majority more a physical elimination
than a puzzle. This closing time elimination. What did you
make of the elimination they get used to?
Speaker 2 (14:46):
It was last year. I have to remind me what
it was.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
It was the they the spin the wheel for the guillotine,
the rays, and then they would go through, get two
bricks at a time, bring him back around, and they were.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Oh, yeah, I thought that was good. I mean, I
I just thought you saw kind of Derek really coming
into his own I guess, and starting to show why
he deserves to be that I think. I think at
that point, you know, everybody was kind of like, oh, okay,
like Derek here, and I think, you know, he deserves
to be.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Right. And I think it was one of these things
where Derek, you know, it's tough, because he really has
played a great social game, like make the rules for
the season. Everyone knew when it got to individual the
(15:44):
most important thing in the game was to have closer
relationships with the gender or with the opposite sex. That
was the most important thing, and Derek's proved that he
only went into one elimination right at the end. He
was targeted, but his relationships have carried him through this season.
(16:06):
But I think it was important for him to show, like, hey,
just because I have these relationships, like I can compete too,
and he really did. So they they're turning these wheels
and they're able to grab the as many of these
blocks as they want, drop them off at the board
(16:28):
at their station, and you know, continue to move forward.
Derek was a lot more strategic with how he's putting
this puzzle. I guess, if you want to it is
a puzzle, but it was far more about the physicality
and bringing them back and forth. But I mean it
(16:52):
hasn't been to my surprise really that Corey messes this up.
But Derek is able to start. He recognizes what the
logo is and on a puzzle like this, that's the
biggest thing. So he's building the challenge forty from the
bottom down. He's starting with the zero, the four, and
(17:14):
then he starts spelling out the challenge and he crushes this.
I mean, Corey has done better on puzzles this season,
but I think he realized too late that he was
messed up here.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, yeah, that's unfortunate. I mean, but that's usually how
Corey's game goes, Like it's just you know, he he
has a good season and then he makes a silly
mistake near the end, and that's like usually his downfall.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
We've seen him make five finals and in the finals
it's usually something like this, where he's off to a
good start and then it's either a checkpoint or a
puzzle that you know, messes him up. Michelle has a
great quote here about Derek and says, you know, people
(18:10):
in this game probably thought that Derek's an underdog, but
really he's just a motherfucking dog and he really, uh,
people need to stop discounting him, like he took down Corey.
He's done really well in these challenges. I think he's
only gotten last like once maybe out of this group
(18:33):
of guys. So you know, he really has been proving
over and over this season. In a big win for
him this late in the game, this late, it's huge
to have that win and he is, uh, he's riding
(18:56):
a high. He gets to pick target. He just deciding,
you know, which girls are going to be in the
best spot car in what ends up being a gigantic
moment in this next episode, we get a flashback where
(19:19):
Carra says, just picked me as a target. Michelle's been
target more than any of the other girls. She's been
in multiple eliminations, just pick me, which to me, Cara
has had a really tough season two. You know, all
(19:39):
of the final five girls have really fought this season,
and I was very surprised to see Kara say this.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
I think that's been the theme for her this year,
and that's what I think Michelle and then have been
talking about. But she has a lot of like self doubt,
and I think that self doubt played in to that
decision to do that.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
If that makes sense, Oh, it absolutely does, because what
I that makes sense, And I'm sure Kara thought this through,
Like she hasn't always been the most strategic, but I
know Derek has a good strategic mind for the game.
We know Michelle knows how to play these games strategically.
(20:25):
And it's one of these things where I think we
knew what was gonna happen for the girls that weren't targeted.
As long as they don't get last place in this
next challenge, they're going to the final And for Kara,
nine times out of ten, she's not getting last place,
(20:48):
so and I it makes me wonder, whoops. It makes
me wonder if Derek isn't told that by Kara. I
gotta ask, and I want to talk it through. I
don't know what he does here. I don't know if
(21:12):
he makes Michelle the target. They built a really strong
friendship this season, but he's been he was on All
Stars with Carra. They've definitely known each other longer, so
I don't know. It makes me think maybe Michelle would
have been the target here. It's interesting.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Yeah, I don't know. I think they've built too much,
too much of a bond to put Michelle in.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
I think, yeah, yeah, it's that's why I was so
curious about it, because it really would have been close.
I think I don't know if it would have been
definitely Cara or definitely Michelle. But Kara car said, as
you know what, just picked me. And you know TJ's
(22:04):
been he's been teasing the final these last couple episodes,
and he says, you know, we're we're getting closer to
my final, but you know, I feel like we need
to go somewhere new. So it's a location change, and
this is another throwback we've seen location changes in this uh,
(22:29):
in this game throughout the years, and what a time
we are going to the Philippines. I don't know if
they've ever been to the Philippines, but this was this
was fun, A little little cheers to the dinner and
(22:50):
getting all excited to be in the Final nine. Just
the location change going on.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
Yeah, I mean I like the Vietnam the Philippines, Like,
I just like what they're doing. I love when they
location change. I don't think they've done it in a while,
like that big of a location change, right, So I
really like.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
What they did there. Yeah. I think it's fun to,
you know, switch up the environment and it gets people
in that mindset of like, hey, we're we're all really
really close to that final yep, you know. It's it's
(23:33):
this wild experience. Because Vietnam's already so cool. They fly
to the Philippines. It is hot, it is dry, it
is humid, but everybody is pumped up. They're getting sick
of each other, as Jordan says, I mean they're with
(23:54):
each other twenty four hours a day.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Yeah, I can't imagine.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
It's probably close to yeah, not probably, they're getting close
to two months on location together. So even their allies
are probably starting to piss them off. I mean, you
spend so much time with someone, even the little things
they do start to annoy you. Yeah, and we are
(24:21):
out on location for what ends up being a controversial
daily and I'll explain why as we get through this.
So we have, like I said, they fly to the Philippines,
they're reflecting on their best moments in the game, their
(24:45):
most fun times out there, and they're really enjoying, you know,
reflecting on this monumental season and it's been something that
they that everybody's really proud of themselves for. You know,
(25:05):
Jenny has made it really far for you know, she
it's been years since she's been back on the show.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Is this her first final?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Uh yeah, yeah, Yeah, we're so focused.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Everybody's so focused on Michelle, like that's a big deal.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
It is a big deal. And you know, Michelle has
been one of the main characters of the season without
a doubt. Yeah, it's it's really been you know, Jenny's
been you know the you know, it's been Rachel, Jenny
Avive as Banana's Angels and well Jenny.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, Jenny and Rachel. I mean, Rachel's had odds stacked
against her. Jenny has had her entire team against her
the entire time they were in Era. So yeah, it's
pretty impressive.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Yeah yeah, And it really is this crazy, you know
journey for Jenny because in this team portion of the game,
she was way she was targeted constantly. Now, I again,
like we don't need to rehash it, but I think
(26:28):
if Jenny does come back in the future, it's something
that she needs to work on because the girls on
Era four were all aligned in some form or fashion,
so they were never going to turn on someone that
they're friends with for somebody that they just met in Vietnam.
(26:49):
But of course, I mean Jenny, her physical game speaks
for itself. I think, no doubt she's the Her and
Rachel are the strong girls on this season physically, and
I think it's just her endurance that could keep her
back in a final. For Jenny West, I agree, it's
(27:12):
that asthma issue.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
I mean, we'll talk about the daily you know on
this laugh that latest episode, but like man, she booked it,
but she exerted like all of her energy and obviously
asthma played a huge role, and you know kind of
how she was struggling.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Yeah, it happens several times, but she, like you said,
she is really booking it. And uh, I just it
makes me wonder because these finals, you know, they they
do have a bit of difference. But we have seen that,
(27:52):
you know, we're gonna no matter what, even if it's
only a couple of miles, like you're gonna get a
couple miles of running in a row. Some finals have
had way more than a couple of miles in a row.
So it makes me wonder how Jenny can do in
(28:14):
a final like we see Rachel, how she's so well
rounded with everything. She's great with endurance, she's great with puzzles,
she's phenomenal with the with math, with strength based challenges.
So it does have me curious what is going to
(28:38):
happen when we get to a when we do get
to the final in the new year. With Jenny and
with Rachel, it's been years since she's been on the show,
and she she comes up here and does all right.
So we'll see here. It's interesting. We will we will
(29:04):
find out.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Yeah, it'll be a fun.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
It'll be fun to see what happens. Yeah, So we
we are in the daily and this this does go
down to the wire, and it's it's a grueling challenge
to have right before the final I know, sometimes they've
(29:31):
done you know, we're gonna do uh, you know, a
little bit easier of challenges, right, But then there's been
times where where the challenges are a little bit harder
and this one, boy, was this tough. They are running
(29:56):
through and grabbing uh, two bricks at a time. They
can only what was this daily called They always name
him weird things. I know, I wrote it down here
fortress bricks. There were forty bricks and there are they're
(30:22):
only allowed to carry two at a time. Once they
get four bricks, they're allowed to carry one plank. And
clearly the plank was like an easier thing to carry.
It's lighter, it's less cumbersome, and you could tell immediately
(30:43):
that this was going to be a grind. The puzzle
was not easy. Car has got a three minute time
penalty after all of this is done, So it really
seems like we are gonna we're gonna be getting some
(31:05):
combination of Kara, Tory and Michelle. You know, before this
challenge starts, it would be pretty surprising, like Jenny would
have to really yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Well, I'm pretty shocked that. I mean, we'll get I'm
pretty shocked that Tory did what she did and just kind.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Of took it easy. Yeah. Yeah. We hear Tori and
confessional during the challenge. She uh, she says, you know,
Jenny and Rachel are really you know, they're crushing this challenge.
You know, we need to you know, can serve our energy,
(31:53):
which is really surprising, you know. And then what does
she she said, is at the end of the Daily
Challenge something I don't know, but it really was like
I'm I'm not enjoying like having to be I don't know.
(32:17):
It just seemed like she was not giving it her all.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah, and he says that the elimination when we get there,
like she says that, you know, she didn't have her
fire during the challenge, but she has it back.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Yeah, which I don't know. I don't know. I mean
with the competition on this season, I feel like you
definitely have the the you know, all of the the
umph and I think she really would want to, you know,
(32:52):
compete and show like, hey, this is it's not a fluke,
like I'm one of the best to do it. So
on the on this Daily it's it's pretty evident from
the jump right, we only have four guys left. UH,
(33:13):
Derek and Bananas are fighting for last place here. Jordan
and Kyland are way ahead of both of them on
this particular challenge. I don't think it's going to be
that way in the final with all the different things
they throw in there. But with this particular skill set,
(33:36):
this was an easy challenge for UH, Jordan and Kyland
to do well in and they both I mean, there's
really not much intrigue. The only intrigue I have. And
I guess it's been an ongoing conversation, how the hell
does Jordan carry two bricks with only three fingers on
(34:01):
one hand? But we have said that about all these
eliminations in dailies. It's just something I want to remind everyone.
Like he's a beast. He does it every like. I
think the biggest conversation piece about this came up when
he beat Josh in that tug of war on War
of the World's Two. But it literally every time there
(34:26):
is something like extremely physical or that would that you
wouldn't even think about doing with like one and a
half hands, Jordan just does with ease. Yep. The only
thing he will not be able to do with ease
as a pol wrestle, and it's just incredible. He is
(34:52):
obviously on the Mount rushmore of you know, they've talked
about it multiple times in confessional this season, and he's
one of the best this season. Regardless of how it
ends up.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
He's one of he could be the favorite in the final.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Yeah, I mean they talk about it all the time,
but Jordan does triathlons for fun. He wakes up and
just does it for fun. Who else does that? You know? Yeah,
there's not many people that do one triathlon, let alone multiple.
So he wins, he is not getting it doesn't seem
(35:36):
like and I know the Challenge will once in a
while like throw in something where like, hey, you won
the dailies, so you're gonna get an advantage in the final,
But they don't do that here. It's it's interesting. So
(35:56):
Jordan wins, we then get Jenny West's winning. However, the
reason that I was saying it's controversial. If you've seen
on Twitter, a lot of people have pointed out that
Jenny's puzzle was not actually complete. On the planks. She
(36:16):
calls check and they say that she's done but Jenny's
it is not right. Like you can clearly see that
the lines on the puzzle are off.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Granted if the other right pieces on, but like they
just didn't fall correctly or something.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
Weren't the right they weren't in the right order. I will, wow,
I'll send you it, and I want to see your
your live reaction to this, because it's it's not like
it's this like really hard thing you have to look
for like in some of these other challenges where people
are like, hey, they didn't and shit and they like
(37:01):
zoom in incredibly close. Yeah, here it is, Okay, let me,
I'm gonna send it to you now. The funny thing
is is like most of it is flush and looks
like a puzzle, but you can clearly see on the top.
Here we go, I just sent it to you. Yeah.
(37:22):
So Jordan was the one who sent this out on
Instagram right after the Daily Challenge. If you look at
the top left of her puzzle, it's not even close
to an x, like the bottom plank and the top
plank should have been reversed. Oh wow, yeah you see that.
(37:46):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yeah. I was like, oh, maybe they just drew him wrong,
but no, like the bottom plank and the top plank
are wrong.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
And that's the thing. Jordan has been very vocal about
the show, like getting things wrong in the daily and
I think people know that they do get things wrong,
like they're human beings. But this is the challenge right
before the final and this is so obviously wrong like this,
I didn't even need to see this, and I could
(38:14):
have told you if I was the one. You know
how they call check and then there's people watching from
production who then tell TJ like they're correct. This is
so obviously not well.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
I think the thing that throws it off looking at
this picture is like you see the middle part and
like she has it where it's like, you know, they
don't perfectly align. So I think when production saw the
top one that I go, it doesn't perfectly align. It's
because it's not you know, perfectly pushed in, I guess,
and they gave her the win. That's how I can
see them messing up because of that.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Right, So I get that part, and I don't think
that's what he's arguing there, because he is wrong. It
is wrong. It is wrong. Yeah, Yeah, the top plank
and the bottom are just wrong. And the reason why
I mean, it's very clear why Jordan's upset about this,
and we'll get to that in a little bit. But Jordan,
Jordan wins the daily for the guys, so he is
(39:11):
ultimately going to be a tasked with making the decision
of who's going into elimination. Island is right behind Jordan
because he gets all his planks to the fortress first,
and Jordan finishes the puzzle. Like we said, Jenny wins
(39:36):
a and Carr gets second, Rachel gets third, and for
the guys, Bananas gets the puzzle done right before Derek.
So Derek's going to have a penalty in the final,
but I'm not sure how big of a penalty it is.
(39:58):
And I also think Derek is going to be doing
very well based on these karma points. I have a
feeling they got to play into the finals somehow if
they keep bringing them up in random episodes. But that's
just me. Maybe I'm wrong. But the most entertaining part
(40:19):
of this daily comes down to the dog fight in
the puzzle between Tory and Michelle. Tory is taking it
very easy, and ultimately Michelle gets the puzzle done by
seconds saves herself from going into the arena. And Michelle Fitzgerald,
(40:44):
a woman who a lot of people wrote off this season,
someone who people thought, you know, an early boot on
a season full of really strong women, Michelle has knocked
multiple of them out and secured her spot in the final.
Your thoughts on the end of this challenge and Michelle
(41:06):
making the final, Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
I thought it was super close, but also like I
think Michelle earned it, like she has been working pretty
hard for and he know, as a matter of time,
it really.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Just came down to.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
Look, she has a good social game that would have
got her through most of the game, but then she
had to perform at the end, and she was able
to kind.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Of squeak by.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
It's not like she won anything or you know, had
some big win, but she was able to do just
enough to get by and get into her first final.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
She's had the big wins in the arena, very similar
to Corey. You know, neither of them won daily challenges
this season, but it's they both did enough to skip by,
and then you know, Michelle does get it done and listen,
a big win against Toy there right at the end.
(41:52):
I mean, this is not just like a puzzle, like
a jigsaw puzzle or anything. This was a physic physical puzzle.
So now Jordan, you know, Tori gets last, Sir Jordan
can't save her. Uh. In the chamber, TJ first time
(42:13):
in the chamber this season. Jordan is being told he
has to make his decision that night. He made a
handstake deal with Rachel, but him and Kara have been
getting there. They've been getting closer throughout the season. We've
(42:37):
seen Jordan and Rachel talking a lot this season and
obviously pays off here. Jordan sends Kara in and Uh.
TJ tells everybody arrive at the elimination tomorrow in their
Challenge uniforms and not to be late. So this is
(43:07):
just crazy because it looks like we're going to be
starting the final right after this elimination. So for whoever
wins this elimination, it's a tough spot, you know, real
tough spot to compete an elimination.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Well, and something that that is that long too, it's insane.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
Yeah, So the cast pulls up on a motor boat
to this crusty pirate ship in the middle of the
ocean called Sinister and TJ tells them that this will
be their home for their duration of their final, but
(43:53):
also they need to find out the last person and
to join them in the final, and Carra and Torri
will compete in the final elimination of the season in
an elimination called the Final Elimination. So creative, MTV, I
(44:19):
beg of you between the episode titles in the elimination
names and the daily names. You gotta work harder on
these names. The episode for episode seventeen was the Location
Change Era. Are you kidding me? You had so much
(44:40):
at your pecking call to name this episode? The location
change Era is so fucking boring. It's terrible. So what
do they have to do in the final elimination? Car
and Tory have to tread water for as long as
(45:01):
they can before they either give up or go under.
We have heard plenty of times about Kara's unfortunate woes
in the water. We've seen it in other challenges in
other finals. She's not great, very awkward elimination.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
I loved it personally. I thought it was like a
great show of stamina and strength. I will say, you know, well,
there's a couple of things. First, how about the fish
that were nipping at them and the snake that was
running around them.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Oh my lord, hell no, and we we get you know,
they're I think everybody knows right these two. First of all,
the history here, these two hated each other back in
the day on War of the World's two in each other.
We've seen their friendship build up a little bit. But
(46:05):
the girls are the other girls in the game have
got to be thrilled. These are two of the strongest girls,
and I think we've talked about it on this podcast.
This season, you could see either of these two winning
the final. Oh yeah, if you're another girl in the game,
the fact that one of them is guaranteed to go home,
it's great news for you. They are treading water for
(46:30):
what they say is two hours. I don't know if
it's humanly possible to tread water for two hours. I
have a hard time believing that.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
Uh No, I think it's doable, especially if you're able
to flood on your back like it's definitely you could
definitely do it, so I believe it. I wish that
they didn't do the elbows up, the hands up thing,
and I wish they let them go the entire night.
Speaker 1 (46:59):
Yeah, I'm sorry, buddy, I cut you off. Where were
you gonna say, oh.
Speaker 2 (47:02):
You're good, that's all. It's just like a show of
strength and will basically to be there. I think that
would have been awesome, but I guess they had to
cut it off so everybody got.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
Sleep or whatever. Yeah, so this is gonna be a
deep throwback to another show. But it was making me
think of, on similar lines of view, the final immunity
challenge on Survivor Palau way back in the day. It's
the longest immunity challenge in the history of the show.
They were going for like twelve hours, and they did
(47:33):
similar things like you have to raise one hand or
you know, be on one foot. And I do think
between them starting the final on this boat and then
also they need some amount of light to be able
to capture it for the camera crew and the videographers
and all that. But I agree with you, I wish
(47:54):
they'd just let him battle it out. And they were like, hey,
it's the final elimination, last person and uh, to tread water,
you're you're going to the final. And I think they
would have given them like a couple hours of sleep
either way, regardless of how long this goes. But it was, Uh,
(48:21):
it was wild because Bananas is coaching Kara to stay
focused on herself and not look at Tori. But Carra says,
you know what, he's not cheering for me. He's cheering
against Tori. But he should have been rooting or he
should have excuse me, Carras should have listened to Johnny
(48:43):
because that is a good strategy.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
Yeah, and I think it's funny how carl was like,
Johnny just wants to out. Don't don't think he's a
good guy.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Sure, no one thinks he is. But like that's the thing,
you know, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
In Cara's enemy in this moment is Tori. You know.
So twenty more minutes and TJ tells them they got
(49:16):
to put their elbows out of the water. Kara gives
out and car is happy. Right, She's got friends now.
She she had a much better time and was really
enjoying this, you know, just having a good time on
(49:42):
the show. And I think this was a great season for.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
Cara, especially after you know, missing a couple of seasons.
Is great to see her back like this.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
Yeah, we saw her back on All Stars four. She
comes back here on the flagship for forty We have
said that there was no way you could do a
monumental season like this and not have carl Maria as
one of the the women for Era too. Yeah, so
I'm glad they put her here. She ends up giving
her karma points to Rachel, which was interesting. You know,
(50:17):
she's been friends with Michelle, she's been friends with.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
I think she respects the strong, like badass, you know woman.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
And then Rachel's been just insane all season. Absolutely yeah,
and they've had a like you said, they've been very
respectful to each other, and I, you know, I can
appreciate that for sure. Yep. A great episode and now
we're down to eight. We got got it.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
We gotta enjoy it because this is like, this is
an awesome season. This is probably the best women.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
Cast you've ever had. And then no offense. But like
we go to the.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Next All Stars and it's like a very not great cast.
So enjoy that and how we can and then we'll yeah,
get there.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
Like Austin said, All Stars, five casts dropped, And look,
I do I agree with most of what you said. Yes,
And let me let me just say it is not
I think some of the pairs are really fun. But
then a few of them are like what in the
(51:24):
world are they rivals?
Speaker 2 (51:28):
Or like why are they on All Stars? Like now
the people you're like, these people are not All Stars,
so you kind of it should be more of like
instead of like All Stars, this should be like maybe
I don't.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
Know, they want to make another if they want to
make another version of The Challenge, where like they can
have the Ogs going against some of the newer folks
with it not being as long as the flagship, go
for it, and I think that would be fun. What
I do know, and what you know, is that the
(51:59):
fans have been clamoring for rivals for so long and
to do a rival season, and you have good rival
pairs like John Ay and Beth where Beth accuses John
Ay of having an affair on the show. That's a
great rival pair. You then have Frank and Sam and like,
(52:19):
if you're a Challenge fan, you remember Frank literally like
dragging her ass across the finish line when they win
that season. That's a solid rival pair. But then you've
got Anissa and Ashley. How the hell are they rivals?
(52:40):
And then like Melissa and Nicole, they're they hooked up
once on Vendetta's they are not rivals. Yeah, so, and
I know a lot of people like Davon and Shane.
They had that rivalry on Final Reckoning, so that'll be fun,
but overall not the best. I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
But it's like, are these people all Stars? Like it's
since season one or two, you just get farther and
farther away from All Stars.
Speaker 1 (53:10):
So sure, see what I think they definitely there have
been so many people as soon as All Stars one started,
people wanted Frank to come back. I've wanted to see
him come back. You know, the guy's a beast, so
I would. I'm excited to see that. Shane Devon, I'm
excited for them. I always like seeing John A on
(53:32):
a season. But I Justvesian Amber that is a rivalry.
But again they of course they're All Star caliber. But yes,
the term all Star is for like the Ogs.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
So yeah, it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
But we'll see what happens. Yeah, we'll see how it goes.
We'll cover it, you know, but we'll have a bit
of a break because, uh, the Challenge doesn't give long
long breaks. Uh, but it is what it is. We
we won't be back for a couple of weeks. As
I said at the top of the show. We got
Christmas Day on Wednesday, so no challenge episode. We got
(54:16):
New Year's Day the week after, so no episodes the
next two weeks h and we got the final starting
on January eighth. It would be a good one. I'm
looking forward to it, I guess. Yeah, let's do some predictions.
(54:36):
One guy, one girl. We got Michelle, Tory, Rachel, and Jenny.
Your pick of the girls.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
I'm gonna do who I think and who I want.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
I think it's gonna be. I think it's gonna be Toy.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
I want it to be Rachel. I think for the guys,
I think it's going to be Jordan, and I think
it's pretty clearly going to be Jordan, and I would
like it to be Bananas. But I think Banana's team
is starting to run out.
Speaker 1 (55:14):
I uh, I just want to quickly respond to what
especially with Tori. Look, if it is Tori, I I
can't be upset. She's won like six individual challenges. She's
done really well this season.
Speaker 2 (55:33):
Yeahs, I'm not craying these people don't deserve it.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
I'm just saying sure, I'm not. I'm not saying that, like, oh,
I'm rooting for her. Anything like that. But I'm just saying, like,
you know, a big job while done if she gets
it done. I I want Rachel to win this, and
I think she's going to win this. We have seen
(55:56):
her dominate this game politically. She's been making the right moves,
you know, making good deals with the guys and just
being able to come out on top. We haven't seen
a weak point in her game when it comes to
all the challenges. I would love to see Michelle win.
(56:17):
I just don't think it's gonna happen. But Michelle, regardless
of how this goes, she's got to hold her head
up high because what a season for her to get
this far with this girl, you know, all the girls
that were cast on this season to be the final
four the guys. I want Derek to win, I really
(56:39):
do do. I think it's gonna happen. Probably not, but
I'd love to see it happen. Who I think will win?
I think it's Jordan. I you know they did the
location change of the Philippines. We've been seeing a lot
of stuff in the water. Jordan can swim very well,
(57:02):
and we already know he can do everything else well.
I do think it would be like a nice swan
song for Bananas to win forty and then finally retire.
But I don't think he's retiring now.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
They would have made the season all about him.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
Yeah, exactly so, and especially if he won, Like I
think they could have been like, all right, we're you know,
Johnny could have been like, all right, I'm gonna retire,
but I I don't know. Maybe he wins and just
isn't done yet, but we'll see. I know, we're excited.
It'll be nice to have a couple of weeks off
(57:40):
for the holiday season. We hope all of you out there,
whatever it is you celebrate, enjoy the holidays however you
celebrate him. Should be. Should be a good holiday season
end of twenty twenty four, and we will be back
ringing in twenty twenty five with the final Battle of
the Eras and all starts five Austin. Anything else, any
(58:07):
final thoughts.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
Yeah, happy holidays, Happy New Year, and we get to
ring in twenty twenty five with a Challenge finale. So
we're looking forward to it.
Speaker 1 (58:14):
