But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. ( 2 Kings 5:20)
Today’s daily devotional takes us into the sobering account of Gehazi’s downfall, a servant of Elisha who witnessed the healing power of God firsthand.

After Naaman was miraculously cleansed of leprosy, Gehazi made a fateful decision—motivated by greed, he pursued Naaman and deceitfully acquired gifts that Elisha had deliberately turned down. Though Gehazi tried to hide his actions, God saw everything. This powerful moment reminds us of the danger of greed and the high cost of compromising our values. Have you ever felt the temptation to seize something that wasn’t truly yours?

What’s striking is the contrast between the two hearts: Naaman, once a pagan soldier, experienced a radical conversion and carried soil from Israel back to his homeland as a sign of his devotion to God. His life reflected genuine transformation and gratitude. Gehazi, on the other hand, had the privilege of seeing God's work up close, yet allowed selfish desires to cloud his judgment. In chasing after worldly gain, Gehazi abandoned spiritual integrity. He disregarded the principles modeled by Elisha and failed to trust God's provision.

When confronted, Elisha revealed that Gehazi’s sin had been exposed by God, resulting in a severe judgment: the leprosy that once afflicted Naaman would now cling to Gehazi and his descendants. ( 2 Kings 5:25-27)This stark outcome forces us to reflect: are there areas where we’re letting materialism or dishonesty creep into our lives? Are we choosing short-term benefit over long-term faithfulness?Let’s be inspired by Naaman’s transformation, and strive to cultivate a heart rooted in thankfulness and integrity. May our actions—especially when no one is watching—speak to the faith we profess.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Greetings, this is Caleb Santos, and I'm just so happy
to be with you in this wonderful Tuesday morning. Today
we're going to have a word and we're going to
be talking about our devotional entitled Choosing Integrity Overgreed. Choosing

(00:51):
Integrity Overgreed. Let's look at second Kings five twenty Second
Kings five twenty. But Gehazi, the servant of Elijah, the
man of God, said, behold, my Master has spared naming
the Syrian in not receiving at his hands that which

(01:11):
he brought. But as the Lord liveth, I will run
after him and take somewhat of him. Now, today's daily
devotional takes us into the sobering account of Gehaesi's downfall,
a servant of Elijah who witnessed the healing power of
God's firsthand after naming, was miraculously a cleanse of leprosy.

(01:36):
Gehazi made a faithful decision. Motivated by greed. He pursued
Naman and deceitfully acquired gifts that Elijah had deliberately turned down.
Though Gehaesi tried to hide his actions, God saw everything.
The Bible says, your sins will find you out. This

(01:57):
powerful moment reminds us of the day of greed and
the high court of compromising our values. Have you ever
felt the temptation to see something that wasn't truly yours?
What striking is the contrast between the two hearts. Naman,
once a pagan soldier, experienced a radical conversion and carry

(02:20):
soul from Israel back to his homeland as a sign
of his devotion to God. Now, a lot of people,
when they go to their place of origin, they like
to carry a little bit of soil to remind them
of their connection. Is like the famous singer Celia Cruz.

(02:44):
She's Cuban and she immigrated to the United States, and
when she visited Cuba, she brought some dirt with her
to remind her of her connection with Cuba and how
she had a fleet Cuba because of the tyranny of
Fidel for the l Castro. But this thing is taking
it to a deeper level, to a level of conversion

(03:08):
because name and when he carried the soil of Israel,
it was with the intention of serving God, of building
up a pay an altar, an altar before the Lord.
And you could look at the details of this and
Exodus chapter twenty verse twenty three to twenty.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Four, I believe, and we could try to go there.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
I'm going to see if I could go there on
my computer right now, and I want to really share
that with you because that was something that I when
I looked at the chapter chapter second King's chapter five,
I didn't notice that he carries some dirt with him

(03:51):
from Israel to his homeland, and I said, wow, that's something.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Why did he do that? And then the Holy Spirit
showed me why. Let's look at Exodus twenty verse twenty
three to twenty four. It says, you shall not make
with me gods of silver, neither shall you make unto
you gods of gold and alto of earth. Shalt thou
make unto me? And shall sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings

(04:19):
and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thy oxen, and
all places where I record my name, I will come
unto THEE, and I will bless THEE. Amen.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
So Gehazi got really, really converted to the things of God,
and he wanted to serve him. He wanted to serve him.
His life reflect the genuine transformation and gratitude. Gahzi, on
the other hand, had the privilege of seeing God's work
up front, yet allowed selfish desires to cloud his judgment

(04:52):
and chasing after worldly gain. Gehazi abandoned spiritual integrity. Let
me reapeat again and chasing after worldly gain. Gehazi abandoned
spiritual integrity. He disregarded the principles modeled by Elijah Elisha
and failed to Elisha so I say, and failed to

(05:15):
trust God's provision. When confronted, Elisha revealed that Gehazi's sin
had been exposed by God, resulting in a severe judgment.
The leprosy that once afflicted Naman will now cling to
Gehazi and his descendant descendants. Let me repeat that again,
the leprosy that once afflicted Naman would now cling to

(05:38):
Gehazi and his descendant descendants. Now it reminds me of
a testimony that I heard, If memory serves me, right
of William bra Brahm, one of the revivalists back in
the day, and he had a powerful, powerful meetings in
which the Holy coast was moving. He had signs and wonders,

(06:00):
and there were people from a particular denomination that wanted
to expose him, and they lied about their condition, and
William Brandam had a word of knowledge and called them
up front, and he said and even described the tablecloth
and the place where they were, and he says, you

(06:20):
said that you had all these diseases, guess what you
have them now, and that I'm telling you you don't
play with the things of God. Even in the well,
people may say, well that brother Caleb, master Caleb's that's
Old Testament. The New Testament were on the grace, grace, grace, grace. Well,

(06:40):
tell that to Anonyse and Sapphira and acts. When I
believe Peter called them out and called their sin to
the carpet. Let me tell you, whether it's the Old
Testament or the New Testament, you don't play with sin. Amen.
God is a good God. Yes, God is very merciful,
and it gives you time to repent. But there's a

(07:03):
time when he puts a line on the ground and
he says, don't cross this because there's consequences and we
need to. I think it's a healthy thing for the
church to have the fear of God. Let me tell you,
the fear of God is something that is very much needed.
And I'm talking to myself too. So praise the Lord.

(07:24):
And let's let's keep on notice here. And this happened
in Second Kings if you want to read it, Second
King's five twenty five twenty seven, when Nameim not Naym.
When gays I entered into the house after talking to
nayhim after deceiving him, Elisha confronted him. Basically, he confronted

(07:47):
him and he said that leprosy is upon you and
your descendants. Let me tell you it's a hard lesson
to learn because of greed. Amen. Now this dark outcomes
us to reflect. Are there areas where we're letting materialism
or dishonesty creep into our lives? Are we letting materialism

(08:10):
or dishonesty creep into our lives? Are we choosing short
term benefit over long term faithfulness? Let me reat that again.
Are we choosing short term benefit over long term faithfulness?
Let's be inspired by Namans transformation and strive to cultivate
our heart rooted and thankfulness and integrity may our actions,

(08:34):
especially when no one is watching, speak to the faith
we profess. Amen. And that's why we need to understand
the fact that we need to be very careful and
our walk to choose integrity over greed. Anybody could fall
to the sin of greed. Let me tell you, necessity

(08:54):
will even add to the sin of greed. So that's
why we need to guard our hearts. The Bible says
God will your hearts because of it, because the issues
of life come from it. Amen. So we need to
get to the place where we ask the Lord to
help us, to help us, and I will walk, to
help us to be strengthened, and I will walk and

(09:15):
to be able to be totally transformed in our experience
with the Lord. Amen. Praise God, not playing games. So
that's it for today, Amen, And I'm glad that I
had a chance to share with you in this early morning.
I'm praying that God will bless each one of you.
Let me pray for your Father in the name of Jesus.

(09:37):
I pray for this audience that's listening to this podcast.
I pray that you bless us all, Father, God, that
you bless everyone who's listening to the sound of my voice.
That you help us to choose integrity over greed. That
you help us to examine our hearts. That you help
us to go all the way just like Naman did

(10:00):
when he served you. So Father, in the name of Jesus,
thank you for speaking to us, help us to grab
a hold of your word for to day. In Jesus name,
we pray, Amen and Amen. God bless you. I love
you all and the Spirit of God. And remember you
have the mind of Christ. Be blessed by by.

Speaker 1 (10:25):

and biblical teaching has encouraged and refreshed you join us
