(00:21):
get some green ay everyready will be looking comedy podcasts.
I'm sure that you thought that I forgot to upload
a podcast episode this week, but I didn't. I wanted
to do on Joy fourth. Why and July fourth because really,
it's my favorite holiday. Why is it my favorite holiday?
Probably because it is the holiday that is for the
greatest country on the planet and allows me to travel
(00:42):
the country being a comedian and make people laugh so
and get to share this stuff with you guys. So
that's really what it is. I want to do something
different and simple. A lot of people, I'm sure on Tuesday,
were like, there's no episode. I tricked you. I wanted
to do that on purpose. There will be more episodes coming.
I have some stubb with Seth. I will be going
to Grand Cayman, but I will have episodes prepping ready
to go, so don't worry, you're not going to miss
(01:02):
anything there. But I wanted to just kind of drop
something on you today and I want you to think
about it. This is more of a thought process than
a real episode. I didn't really want to, you know,
get too deep, and I didn't want to go into
a lot of stuff. But what I want is I
kind of want you to think about why you want
to be a comedian. Somebody asked me that the other day,
(01:23):
so he said, you know, why, why do you want
to be a comedian? What does that makes you do it?
And I didn't have a good answer, and to be honestly,
I still don't have a good answer. I don't know
what it is something inside me makes you want to
do comedy. Is it hard? Yeah, it's one of the
hardest jobs I've ever had. And I've been in the military,
I've ran companies, I've done all kinds of stuff, and
(01:45):
this is by far the hardest job. I know. You're thinking,
like you tell jokes, how hard can I be? It's
a lot harder than most people think. And if you've
ever done it. You know it's not an easy, easy thing.
So I want you to really sit down and think
about it, and I'm gonna try to think about it.
I'm gonna try to come up with a reason. And
I'm also gonna try to talk to Seth and on
our next episode, we'll talk about why why we are comedians,
(02:07):
why we want to be comedians, why we have to
be comedians. I think if you come at it from
that perspective of why do you have to do this?
Why is comedy so important to you? I have so
many things that I have passion for, I have loved for,
have just an amazing acumen for that. Comedy has always
(02:27):
been part of that. I've always been funny, I've always
had humor. I've always used humor in my life, and
so I think this is one of those things where
it's part of who I am. You know, I don't
know if this is the reason, what's part of who
I am? It's part of what makes me and drives me.
(02:48):
I have a lot of passions history, the environment, animals,
my family, electric vehicles, like I like a lot of stuff.
I'm into a three D printing, video games, comic books, pickleball,
Like I have a lot of things that I love.
Brazilian jiu jitsu I could probably go through. I'd probably
(03:11):
be here all day doing uh wrestling. There's a lot
of stuff that I'm really passionate about that I really
love that. If you looked in my room, if you
looked at my stuff, you would see, oh, this guy
likes this, and he likes that, and it likes these things.
And I really do have it. But it all roots
back to comedy. Comedy, Like, if I was gonna be
a wrestler, i'd be there. I would be a more
(03:33):
comedic wrestler, you know, in my style. You know, if
I was if I did Emma and Brazilian jiu jitsu professionally,
same thing. You know. It's one of those things where
I absolutely love it. And so I think there's a
lot there to unpack. And I just wonder if we
(03:56):
all think about why we do this, why are we
comedy and so what is it about it that will
help us figure out our path moving forward? Because I'm
working on it. I'm still working on my path moving forward.
Here's the craziest part there are comedy is very an
American thing, and it does it is in England and
(04:18):
Europe and whatever and stuff like that. But the style
of comedy stand up is such a strong thing in America.
Our comedians sell out across the world. We are the
voice of a lot of different kinds of people and
groups of people, and every comedian brings something new to
the table. So what are you bringing and how are
(04:42):
you adding value to comedy? Because I think comedy gets
put down sometimes or is seen sometimes as a low
form of entertainment. But honestly, if you look around the
world right now, comedy is like the thing that is
moving the world forward. It's amazing. So I want you
to think about it. Take this, take this Ford the jow.
I have fun, obviously, but then think about why do
(05:02):
you do comedy? What is it that motivates you? What
is you driving. I'm gonna try to come up with
a mission statement. I think of who I am, what
is my business? What I do? I have a couple
of things cooking, I really do. I'm trying. I know,
I've been so busy on the road. I am coming
up with that book for you guys about how to
produce comedy shows at different venues and stuff, how to
make money doing your own shows. There is another book
(05:25):
if you want to read it, that's already out if
you have a bought it. I have an old book.
It's not old. I have a book that's a little
bit older. Let's call it how to Produce Comedy Shows
for Fun and Profit. I think it's like five bucks
on Amazon. I recommend getting it. This other book that
I'm gonna do is probably going to be somewhere in
the because I'm gonna put a lot of stuff in there,
probably gonna be something in the twenty dollars range, somewhere
(05:45):
around there, nineteen seventeen, something like that. It'll max twenty bucks.
I'm not going to go any higher than that. But
it's going to be a lot of information, a lot
of stuff, a lot of guidance, a lot of like
step by step walking you through it. I've been working
on it and so it's very important to me to
to get it done. So I'm hoping that'll help you, guys,
hope that you have a wonderful Fourth of July. Thanks
for bearing with me. I know it was silly for
(06:07):
me to do this on the fourth of July, but
I want to make something cool for you. But I
will be back on Tuesday, so have a good one
and we'll talk to you soon. I
