Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon, Welcome on the Culture News.
My name is David sere Rose and I have the
pleasure to have today on I Heart Radio the Culture News,
a wonderful, wonderful music band. The name of the band
is called the Something Club. We love that There's Something
Club and it is composed by Haley and Shane. We're
(00:22):
so happy to have them today on the show. They
have released a new single which we're going to play
exclusively on I Heart Radio. The name of that single
is called You're Weird and believe me, nothing is weird.
With their beautiful music and the beautiful spirit the Haiti
and Shane from the Something Club, they are together with
(00:43):
us today. We're so glad. How are you.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Guys, great, We're doing great.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
How are you wonderful? So happy to have you today.
Thank you so much for being with us, so two
of you together.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Were so happy to have the two of you, so
can you please tell us us to do debate about
each other. Like Haiti, you can start and tell us
where are you from and how did you start music?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
And the same for you Shane.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
I'm from the Peterborough area in Ontario, Canada. I've been
kind of doing music my whole life, but it took
me a little while to get to this point. Shane
and I met at Harris Institute at school for audio production.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
Yeah, and for me, I'm from Hamilton, Ontario, and yeah,
I've always been kind of like a hobbyist around music.
And then I got my first dog with me on
my laptop and started taking seriously making instrumentals and stuff,
and like of cose here.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
We kind of hit things off in a songwriting class
by accident, we got paired up. We weren't expecting to
have any chemistry at all. I wasn't really writing a
lot of music.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
And neither was Shane that way. So it was an unexpected.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Pairing and we love that. And this is destiny, I
guess for both of you.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
So where the name the Something club is coming from?
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Please, Well, I think we like the ambiguity of it.
We wanted to feel like something that everyone can be
a part of, but we don't want to put.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
You in a box either. It's a you know if
that makes sense?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yeah, no, no, absolutely, it's a well, it's definitely I
want to be part of that club. You know.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
You're in.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
So it's really a beautiful music that you guys are doing.
So who are your music influences like the autists who
have inspired you the most?
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Well for me based on production, definitely Farah Williams, k
Trinata and then yeah, a little bit of James Brown
from the back in the day, Skid Wonder.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Amy Winehouse, a Lady Gaga, you could throw her in there.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
You guys are definitely listening only to the best, so
we can go wrong with that.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
You can go wrong. So now let's talk fast forward
to your new track called You Weird.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
So tell us why the choice of that title and
also what's the song about.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Well, it actually came from I was just messing around
making beats and I was actually watching James Brown concerts before.
So I just wanted to make something that really harness,
that weird, super energetic weirdness, really And.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
When I heard it for the first time, I honestly
laughed out loud. I thought there was the silliest eight
bar loop I had ever heard. And I was like,
can we use this? And he was like, are you sure?
And I was more about writing writing What made the
song feel authentic?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
I guess, and it.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Is the authentic and it is a beautiful, beautiful track
that you guys have put together. So what is your
working process, like how you guys working usually together and
is it easier or.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Better to work as a duo for music?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Shane is constantly making soundtracks, he's making beats, he's making
music constantly, and he's always showing me what he has
and if something's inspiring or I hear it and I'm like, wow,
that really does something for me.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
I then write lyrics to his soundtrack, so it kind
of starts with the music instead of the idea.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
If that makes sense.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
Yeah, I kind of like a hypolice, like a dialog
of beats that I can really take time on my
own to make to really crap them. So it kind
of takes like the stress off and we're sitting together.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
And I'm glad you guys also motivate each other to
go to a higher level.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
And this is what is happening.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
That new song of yours you Weird from the Something Club.
There's Something Club and it is composed by Hayley and Shane.
So before we start to play your new track, what
is next for both of you? What are your next projects.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
We are putting out another single in January called Celestially.
We'll be following that up with three more singles and
then a full length album by the end of the year.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Next year, we'll be there definitely to applaud you and
to support you. So before we start to play your
great music, please tell us something we don't know about you, guys,
and do you have a message for our audience both
of you.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
I think this song is a good foundation for who
we are.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
You're weird really explains us. I think that everybody's a
little weird and it's meant to be for everyone. I
think we all know, we all have those perfect people
in our lives that we really know. While our sisters,
our moms are you know, they're all a little weird,
and I think this song really tells that story.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
What about you, Shane, I grew up with almost like
a normal family, but they're still weird on the inside.
And I think it really shows that even if you're
working in your office job, no matter who you are,
essentially there is that porky side to everybody. And I
should definitely be celebrated.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Exactly, And I always feel we are always the weird
of someone right exactly. It's like we're always the ugly
and the beautiful of someone, so then you just you
know what I mean. So this is really beautiful. I'm
so glad to have you guys. By the way, you
guys have the best pr guy in the world. You know,
(06:30):
I just want This guy is a force of nature.
I tell you that, really really love him to him
of course. So and gentlemen, my name is David so
we Row. I had the pleasure to have to tell
on my Heart Radio live from Art Basil in Miami,
to have over the phone the lovely Highly and Shane.
(06:54):

Something Club, and they're releasing this great new track called
You Weird and You're gonna love it. And this is
a beautiful song, beautiful song to start the weak, beautiful
