Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon, Welcome on the Colture News.
My name is David savi Ro and I have the
pleasure to have today on iHeartRadio wonderful artists from the UK.
We had the pleasure to have her a little whilele boy.
We were so happy to have her, and she's wonderful.
She has released a new Christmas song. This is the

(00:23):
right moment and the name of the song is called
be My Santa Clauds and we are so glad to
feature it exclusively today on.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
iHeart with you.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
You probably have recognized our wonderful artist of today. The
name of this audience is Bonie Jane. Bonie Jane, Bonnie.
How are you today?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
I'm fine, Thank you. Yes, I've been OUTI the weather's
been great in England for change. Yeah, it's very kind
of you to give me this opportunity to talk about
my song. And it's actually so many Christmas songs are
very bouncy, but you know, don't have a lot of meaning.

(01:06):
But this one was written actually with the real feeling
in it because I was on my own at the
time when I wrote this, and I was thinking of
this lovely guy who was unobtainable, and I was thinking,
wouldn't it be lovely if you just turned up? So
it was all about being on your own, and I

(01:27):
had some girlfriends coming over, so I was wearing my
sequin dress, but I was you know, a lot of
people find Christmas can be rather a lonely time, but
in a way, it is quite jolly at the end
because I you know, I think with a bit of imagination,
we can all imagine how wonderful Sontic coming and giving
us a kiss and presents and whatever, So you know,

(01:50):
it shouldn't be sad. Really, there's plenty of things we
can be grateful you usually, I mean there have been.
It's been a traumatic year for a lot of people,
but you know, and I got a good feeling about
the future. I think we're coming out of this gloomy
period and it's going to be full of light and happiness.
So we just have to hang on in there because
we just got the dark. We're coming out the end

(02:11):
of a dark tunnel. Anyway, So back to music.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
We love that.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I love with you that you answer all the questions
that I had for you into your introduction monologue.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I love that. So now let's talk a little bit
more about yourself, if you could introduce yourself and tell
us where you're from and how did you start music.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well, really, right from childhood, I've loved music and right
through school. I didn't learn the guitar until I left school,
but I was always in the choir and I was
in an a cappella group about twenty years now or
fifteen years ago, which we used to do corporate gig

(03:00):
and they were called the Treble Makers and we did
four part harmonies. But I suddenly my guitar became my
friend when my marriage collapsed. And you know, I'm sure
it's a common theme these days, you know, you even
your children they say, oh, well, we'll stay as long
as we're happy, and that's the way people, you know,

(03:23):
they used to marry and it was meant for life.
But so yeah, when it collapsed, I found my guitar
became a great comfort, and I would just roll out
tunes to cheer me up and or a lot of
them were about divorce and things like that. But I
went through this phase and then I suddenly became infatuated,

(03:45):
which I'd always been very disciplined and faithful, so this
was a very tumultuous time, and I wrote a whole
lot of songs. So I've written over a hundred songs,
but there were more recent ones. I'm trying to be
more cheerful again, and people seem to like the more
cheerful songs. But the Christmas one I'm hoping is a

(04:08):
little bit different from the usual. I had it sung
last year by a jazz singer, and I was really
surprised that it seemed to do well in America because
this American chap said, oh, send me your best song,
and I'll see were the people like it. And it
was November, so I thought I'd send him my Christmas song,

(04:31):
and before I knew it, it had gone up to number
five in one of the local, sort of less big charts,
and it stayed there at number one for I noticed
that the Christmas song didn't. Since then, I've had a
couple of good successes in America, but not in the
entire country. Obviously it's so huge, and obviously New York's

(04:55):
the best where it was where it's all happening. Well,
I think it's coming back to being like that anyway. Yeah,
So what was I saying? I love peaceful music, really
and I've always enjoyed I prefer in a hectic world,
I prefer music that creates a sense of peace. I
did enjoyed dance music. I've never been a fan of

(05:19):
drum and bass or heavy rock, but I have got
a few pop songs on my album called Crazy. Actually no,
the album is called Black Ferrari. Sorry. The song that
my favorite song on that album is called Crazy, and
it's a bit like Blondie type of style song if
anyone's old enough to remember Blondie. Yeah. So, anyway, so

(05:43):
I went through this intense time and started dating someone
half my age, which obviously is not very appropriate. But anyway,
so I got a guy to do this Gary Newman
synth on my song Crazy, and I think it's one
of my best songs. I might release that next if
anyone likes them. So yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
So now, now let's talk about your message that you're
giving into this great song of yours, this new song
of yours that you have released called be My Santa Claus,
What is the message you want to give?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Well, even if you're alone, I think you can with
a cheerful spirit and a bit of imagination, you can
feel happy. And I tend to look back and enjoy
happy times when I've had them. But I don't know, really.
I think the message I could give is it's never
too late, because you know, i'd sort of I haven't

(06:45):
put my music away. I've always been singing at folk
clubs and things. But to suddenly have it resurrected when
it did so well last Holidays, you'd call it, I
call it Christmas, and I as it did so well,
I thought my friend said, oh, we want to hear
you singing it, and I thought, well, the jazz singer

(07:07):
did it so well. I don't suppose it will be light,
but already I'm getting some good comments about it, and
it's going up in one of the smaller charts, so
I'm getting more confident about it. And maybe it isn't
too late to do anything you want, really, because you know,
age is just a number, and you know, I'm still

(07:29):
writing songs. I've been through a couple of songwriting retreats
last summer. I had a lovely retreat in the mountains,
and it's a great thing for any age. You know,
it's therapeutic writing songs. You know, there's so many things
you can write about.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
You're writing about a lot of beautiful things, and you're
sharing your beautiful music. We're so glad to have you
today be my Santa Claus. So before we start to
say goodbye to each other, what are your next projects?

Speaker 2 (08:01):
What is next for you?

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Well, I'm really hoping my musical goes somewhere because I've
got a couple of jetters interested, and I've also got
a musical theater group done in the South Coast, where
I'm living most of the time. I'm in London occasionally,
and this theater group likes it and we're I've adapted

(08:26):
it to take in more people because it was a
small play of rom com and now it's turned into
a four musical with fifteen of my tracks and it's
quite jolly and actually it's upbeat, and it's called Waikiki Dreams,
so you never know, maybe somebody wants to take it up.

(08:46):
It's got all the songs on it are really good.
I have to say I'm not I'm musically quite modest,
but I think they're all very good songs. When I
go to other musicals, you hear one or two good songs,
but I think they're all good. So yeah, So that's
why Kiki dreams and I went to the Edinburgh Festival
at the end of the part month of August, just

(09:07):
when it was closing, but there was still a lot
going on and I was given a stage for the
day and it was really cool. That went well. Yeah,
so it's been an exciting year actually. And my other
thing is I've got an album of songs for comfort
for those who've lost loved ones, and that album is

(09:30):
called Dancing with Angels. And I actually wrote that song
Dancing with Angels for a friend who's a partner died
and they were dancing partners for thirty or more than
thirty years, and she had a dream of them dancing
surrounded by angels. And I've got quite a strong belief

(09:52):
in angels. My mother used to say quite often it
sets in the Bible, angels in campus around those who believe,
and I always feel like I've got an angel helping
me and that can be very comforting at Christmas as well,
and it's very magical time of the year. So yeah,
that's all. You know. That album I recommend for people

(10:14):
who who like soft music with a message, and Dancing
with Angels is lovely actually, and it did very well.
That was the other song. It was actually at number
one in a couple of the charts. I believe one
of them was the Independent chart and the other one
was an AC chart and it stayed number one for

(10:34):
three weeks. So it's a great song dancing with angels,
and the album has one about a robin that keeps
visiting her son's grave and she would hold, you know,
on her came flue to her hand, and you know,
it's quite moving, and then there's some spirit in the breeze.
You know, there's some nice songs there, so I recommend that.

(10:57):
But I do hope people a lovely Christmas, and there's
always something you can enjoy, whether it's watching other people
having fun, or watching people opening presence, or just listening
to a choir singing beautifully. And we have to be
very careful what we watch because something's breaking.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Down exactly exactly. And we are so glad to have
you again today. This is the wonderful, wonderful artist Bonie Jane,
Bonnie Jane b or n I Jane j.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
A n E.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
She has released a new great track called be My
Santa Claus, and this is a beautiful song. We're so
glad to play it today, right now. More music is
following up
