Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon, Welcome on the Culture News.
My name is David Serebro and I have the pleasure
to have to the on iHeart with you on the
Culture News an artist name Jesse.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Let me spell it for you.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
J E.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Doubles and Capitol C.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
These wonderful artists have released two great songs which we're
going to play today. The first one is called six
Feet Deep. The second is called One Chance. We are
going to play them right at the end of this interview,
but right before that, we are so lucky to have
over the phone the artist Jase C.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Jesse, How are you today, Hi.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Derby, thanks for having me. I'm so, I'm fine.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Hi everybody, It's yes, wonderful. It's wonderful to have you.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Can you tell us where where you're from and where
are you calling us from?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Actually I'm based in Australia, but now because I did
my concept here in Malaysia just last month, so I
stay here for another month. So I'm going to be
back to Australia next week.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Right now, say hello to all the wonderful people over there.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
So my first question for you is that through this
album aimed at the international market. What message do you
most want to share with listeners around the world.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Oh yeah, because I actually I was born in Malaysia,
a multiculture country way music is in different languages, was
part of my daily life. So I really wanted to
let you know everybody knows that, you know, everyone is
very special and don't be defeated by you know a

(01:57):
lot of problems, but we have to solve problems in
our life. So my songs usually is the help the
uplif people. You know, it's out of the depression state,
because nowadays a lot of cyberbooty and you know, a
lot of depressions people around. So I'm actually also you know,

(02:21):
music therapists myself, so usually I write songs, you know,
to help others to come up to the darkness. So
this is what I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
And you're doing it really, really well.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
So on your latest single called six feet Deep, which
it's a song that carries emotional weight and healing elements,
can you let us know can you walk us through
the creative process of that song, I should say musically
and emotionally.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Oh yes. The idea for six feet Deep began with
my vision of creating an English help that brings healing
and hearp. The first theme that came to mind was
a broken relationship, because it's a wound so many people carry,
including myself. Actually, I opened up to my producer about

(03:17):
my own experience, and in doing so, it felt like
it was unearthing something that had been very deep inside
my heart for years. He later sent me the first
demo based on cook conversations, and from there we carefully
crafted the song together. We changed instrumentation, harmonies, and even

(03:42):
rearranged parts of the song to shift emotional arc in
away that reflected what I had lived through, every detailed matter,
not just to tell the story, but also to achieve
the best possible therapeutic effect. We actually we wanted the
music to truly it called the journey from pain to healing.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
And indeed, I like that.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
You said that every detail matters, so talking about that.
Beyond being a singer songwriter, you also started exploring music
as a form of emotional healing. How did you discover
this connection between music and emotional wellbeing?

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Oh? Yeah, it started quite naturally. During my early performances,
I noticed people getting deeply emotional, right, Some cried, Others
told me that they felt a lived off their hearts.
This is when I realized music wasn't just entertainment. Actually

(04:48):
it was reaching people's saves. Well many may not know
is that besides being an artist, I'm also a doctor
of medicine from Guangzhou with the pH in Health science
from the US and a US certified that you party doctor. Actually,
I've always believed in holistic healing modern body and spirit,

(05:11):
so as a doctor myself, I felt late to explore
this deeper. I studied therapeutic music from universities in Spain
and was amazed. But how strongly music connect emotional and
neurological health. So music therapy is a clinical use of

(05:31):
music to support healing, which is evident best. So this
is actually you know what I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
And indeed I can confirm you that music is healing
and music is helping.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
So talking about that, you are.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
A new song called the One Chance, which we mentioned
at the start of the interview, has a unique story
behind its creation.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Can you tell us more about it?

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Oh? Yes, of course. One Chance is probably one of
the most personal songs I've ever recorded. It was inspired
by the real life or dead moment from my past.
You know, back when I was standing in Toronto, Canada,
I hit the breaking point. Actually, I have been feeling lost,

(06:22):
empty and emotionally numb for a long long time. That night,
I wandered the streets endlessly, crying and overwhelmed. I ended
up by a highway, seriously thinking about ending it all.
I was so tired, tired of pretending, tired of feeling nothing.

(06:46):
Let us stood there. I actually saw a truck approaching
in the distance. I took a step forward, fully prepared
to let it hit me, believing it would be quick
and finally everything would just stop. But just as I
was about to take that step, I heard a still

(07:09):
small voice, some call it God or an angel, whisper,
you know, just give me one chance and I will
show you the meaning of life. And the voice told
me so, So those words stop me. Two weeks later,
a stranger handed me a flyer that say do you

(07:31):
want to know the meaning of life? That moment spark
a journey to transform everything. I found healing, peace and purpose,
and I'm still here today because of that one chance.
So one chance is my way of telling that story

(07:52):
for anyone who's ever felt hopless. Sometimes even at rock bottom,
the steal a voice calling us back to life, and
all it texts is one chance, So everyone deserves a chance.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Right. That is very touching of the things you have said,
and by all means you know, we need you around,
you know, we need you to continue to do what
you do. And of course everybody deserves a chance, and
you definitely deserve it.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
So what's that particular.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Moment during the recording of your creative process that deeply
moved you.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
That you will not forget.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Oh yeah, that very moment which I'll never forget. Is
you know, when I just received the whole fresh songs
before recording, I really buzz into tears ago because it
is my own story and I was so thrilled and
so excited, you know, to record the songs and I

(09:02):
can't wait to sing on stage in a concept which
could touch many many hearts. And I was so happy
that I actually did a concept just a month ago
and it went so well and many were touched and
moved through tears with this song. So it's so unforgettable
because you know, during the recording process and actually wepped

(09:27):
a few sections, which I can't help it because it
was so touching.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
And did it was very touching for all of us.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
So before we start to say goodbye to each other,
let me ask you this. So, looking ahead, do you
have plans to expand your beautiful artistic journey into other
creative films such as theater, film, or crunch or collaborations.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Oh yes, before I started, I really wanted to that.
I'm so happy, you know. I've actually just received good news.
I'm nominated, nominated as a finalist for the Intercontinental Music
Awards twenty twenty five in America. It is such an honor.
It reminds me once again why I do and what

(10:19):
I do. So yes, actually, I'm so grateful, and my
creative journey has already expanded beyond just singing. Over the years,
I'd acted in three feature films and seven stage plays,
including two traditional Chinese costume dramas, Dream, The Red Mansion,

(10:39):
and more recently The Butterfly Lovers, which I'll be continuing
to tour globally across multiple countries. I've also a writer
with published medical works such as You Know the Arapetic Music,
Long Covid Naturopathic Approach, Journey to Music Therapy, and my

(11:02):
personal diary collection, Jesse's Diary, now in its eighth volume,
so actually recently I kicked off my concert tour and
just completed the first show at Gamding Highlands in Malaysia.
It was such a meaningful start and I'll be continuing
this tour across different parts of the world in the
coming years. Of course, my next station is Australia out

(11:26):
toward the whole of Australia for next six months, and
then Europe, US, Indonesia's in a poor Taiwan and meanmoir.
So I've also produced four albums of therapeutic instrumental music
and plan to keep developing that area. It's another way

(11:47):
for me to express healing to sound. The production team
has also approached me to explore a drama series, so
which is something I've never done before, but I'm truly
curious about looking ahead, and I'm also planning to launch
a podcast to share my research and insights on natural medicine,

(12:08):
nutrition and music therapy. So at heart of it all,
I believe every form of art is a vessel for
healing and connection, so with it through music, words of silence,
I want to keep using creativity to break to speak life.
So thanks for having meet David.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
M Well, thank you to you.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
I want to say, really, you're very brave, courageous artists
and very very creative, and we truly respect that and
we truly admire I should say, you're your determination and
encourage of being who you are. So it's it's you

(12:53):
are giving me a favor actually, so so I want
to say you to you wonderful artists that you are,
