But right now we are so lucky to have over
the phone the one and only s J all the
way from the UK is Jay. How are you today?
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I'm good?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
How are you? I'm doing amazing. Thank you so much
for being with us. So can you please tell us
who are you and how did you start music?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Yeah, so I'm asked Jay. Hell I may sing a
songwriter from Wales in the UK. I started singing well
from a really young age. Actually grow up on old
genres of music from my mum and dad. My dad
was in a lot of bands growing up and yeah,
I just I didn't really have a lot of confidence
(01:08):
growing up, and I think when I got about to
nineteen twenty I started Yeah, it just gain my confidence.
I started posting songs online and started having a good
reaction and it kind of kicked on from there.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Really, and indeed, you had a wonderful, wonderful start in
a beautiful path since. So now we are fast forwarding
to the beautiful song tonight. Can you tell us a
little bit more of that song? Can you tell us
what was the process of making it then? Also what
is the story behind it?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, so I've been I've been working on this project
now for the last two years. You know. Predominantly, I've
done a lot of R and B pop music with
of a variety of different producers, and I hooked it
with a producer called Daniel Edwards and Tommy John, who
(02:08):
is an incredible songwriter. He had a lot of a
lot of songs that he was looking for a vocalist
to sing. And when Tommy sent me this track, I
fell in love with this straight away. You know. We
we kind of talked about what the song was about,
and yeah, I kind of related to the songs straight away,
(02:30):
and I wanted to put my my spin on it,
and we we had a chat about maybe changing a
few of the lyrics around, and yeah, I just really
connected with the song straight away, and yeah, we we
kind of just really wanted to make sure that this
this this track was going to be a big track
really that could relate to a lot of people emotionally,
(02:54):
and and you know, I think what we wanted to
get across was the audience really connected with it and
relating to it, which I believe we've done, you know,
with we we thought really hard about the about the
track and about how we wanted it to come across.
And yeah, we knew, we knew pretty much from the
(03:16):
first take that this had a lot of potential and
it went on from there really and then I think
we sent it to a couple of people early doors
and they were really excited about it. So we kind
of knew we had a you know, quite a big
song on our hands.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
And beautiful indeed, the what a beautiful track tonight. Who
are your music influences? The artists who have inspired you
the most?
Speaker 2 (03:44):
So I grew up on a lot of Stevie Wonder,
a lot of a lot of soul R and B. Yeah,
just a real standout artist really growing up. I actually
seen him in the UK a few weeks ago and
it was like a dream come trus It was such
a spiritual experience. It was He's insane even now, you know,
(04:07):
But yeah, he was a massive, massive inspiration growing up.
And John Mayer as well, and you know, later on
in life I discovered John Mayer and Chris Stapleton and
even now you know Morgan Woland as well as is
a big influence BB King as well growing up. So
there was a lot of country blues influences growing up
(04:28):
with with a lot of R and B and soul
as well, and I think with this particular track you
can really feel those kind of influences in the song.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
And indeed, you know you cannot go wrong when you
say that you love STV wonder you know it's it's
always the best, the best music around and we feel
of course in your beautiful in new track Tonight by
