His name is Rory. Let me spell it for you.
It's our you, a r I. A wonderful artist who
has just his EPI chart in the top one hundred
on Apple Music. His new EPI is called Pretty Little Things,

(00:30):
and let me tell you it is a pretty little thing,
that is for sure. This is a wonderful artist. We're
so glad to have him.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Today on the show and welcome Rory. Rory, how are
you today?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
I'm doing well, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
And great? Thank you so much for being with us.
So can you please.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Tell us a little bit about yourself, like where you're
from and how did you start music?

Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, of course, I'm from a small town in Iowa,
and I grew up playing music my whole life. My
sister played a little bit older than me, played the saxophone,
and I was always around when she'd be practicing, and
so I would go into a room and try to
play her saxophone, and eventually I picked up lessons and

(01:18):
just took it further and further. And I was also
enrolled in choir through throughout middle school and high school
and took vocal lessons, and yeah, I began in in
bands in choir.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
And you did really well with yourself.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
So who are your music influences the artists who have
inspired you the most?

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Yeah, A lot of it comes from when when I
was picking up music again playing the saxophone, so a
lot of and I began playing jazz with a couple
of instructors, my my high school band teacher and then
a private instructor h and I took the jazz very far.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
So listening to jazz growing up is a huge influence.
But also.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
I was I listened to rock music with one of
my neighbors from when I was very young, listening to
Led Zeppelin CDs and rush.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Rock bands like that.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
And then finally I was always listening to country music myself,
so huge Luke Combs fan, you know, powerhouse vocals with
with Luke Combs and Chris Stapleton, and right now I'm
super into that alt country with Treaty Oak Revival obviously
and then O sixty you know, even pik Us and

(02:40):
the rooftops of bands like that.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Indeed, indeed you listening to the to the right guys.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
So now let's fast forward to your great new EP,
Pretty Inte the Things. Can you tell us what was
the process of making it? And also what are the
songs that we can hear on it?

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Yeah, I mean it all starts with sitting down and
writing writing songs. And I love writing with other people.
You know, I had band members here. I'm out of
Iowa still, so I wrote with some band members in
Iowa and then went down to Nashville for a while
and wrote down there, writing with you know, a buddy John.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Who was super great.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
We wrote pretty Little Thing together and I planned on
releasing it as a single until I had written Terrified
of Losing You, the second one on there. That one
I wrote with Carson and I had the lyrics and
brought it to practice the next day and I started
singing a melody and Carson put the chords underneath, and
we kind of polished it up from there.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
And yeah, some of these songs.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Feel like they're written in twenty five minutes, while the
others feel like they're written in a couple of days.
So just having the opportunity to write with great people
is gives you a good bass to get into into
recording studio with an awesome producer. I met up with
Logan Murphy very early on in Nashville and we kind

(04:10):
of hit it off right away and started recording and
you know, polishing up these songs too, and he helped
me find the best sound that I could find.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And indeed the songs are very, very beautiful. We're so
glad to have you today on the show. So before
we start to play your your beautiful music, can you
tell us about your upcoming projects?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
What is next for you right now?

Speaker 4 (04:38):
I'm just I'm looking to uh, you know, get into
some other some other recording the recording process, you know,
I'm writing a lot.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
That's kind of never anything.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
I love writing and getting with people to write, so
hopefully that'll be happening in the next month or so.
I'm just writing more and more, getting in with people
that are a lot smarter than I am, you know,
eventually getting into the studio. I've been talking with Logan,
so hopefully we're going to get get a few more
things recorded here in the future.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
And we will be there definitely to promote you and
to listen to your music and to definitely support you
because we love.

Speaker 2 (05:18):

of that beautiful artist's name?
