had the pleasure to have on the show.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I believe it was early March.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Wonderful artists and of course people were so excited when
we announced them that we would have him today once again.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
And he's coming back with us.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
And this is Sam Welsh with this great new track
called the Addict and indeed you are going to be
quite addicted to this new song right now with the
film is Sam Welsh? Sam, how are you today?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
I'm fine, David, how are you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:55):
I'm doing wonderful. Thank you so much for being with
us today. I really really appreciate eight the time, so
thank you really. The first question I have for you
is can you remind us who are you? Where you're
from and how did you stop music?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
My name is Sam Welch and I'm from Boston, mass
I live currently live in central Mass in a rural
location in music all my whole life. Started playing the
piano at about the age of I would say eight
or nine, and then got into vocal vocal work in
high school and that continued along all the way to
the current day.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
And can you tell us about your music influences.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I mean, yeah, artists that I look to are are
similar artists to Robbie Robertson, who was the who wrote
for the band. I would say, you know, kind of
a mix of other influences including Elvis Costello, David Byrne,
Kat stevens uh So. I write about issues related to

(02:01):
spiritual transcendence along with emotional dysregulation and how the two
different things kind of collide. But I've been doing that
since about the year two thousand. I've got about one
hundred and seventy five songs, about fifteen albums now and
I'm glad to say they've all been distributed.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
And that is so beautiful to hear.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
And indeed, we want your music, We want your beautiful
talent to cross as many borders as possible because the
music is absolutely wonderful. We have the one and only
Sam Welsh with us today. Now fast forwarding to his
new track called The Addict. Tell us about this track,

(02:50):
what was the process, what's the story of it.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
The attic is a story continuing along with my exploration
of the idea of transcending. And basically it's by the
way it's attic at t I see like the top
part of a house. I don't want to confuse anybody
with the other like, it's not addict, it's just attic.
But it's basically just setting up a metaphor about the

(03:16):
world that we're going to be going to and looking
at it as kind of similar to the attic in
somebody's house. It's sort of the idea that heaven, you know,
it's it's questioning the idea that heaven is really its
own entity and saying more, maybe the next world is

(03:37):
some kind of a construction that humans have created, just
like the the attic in the house. It's not part
of the natural world. It's a human construct. So I'm
just exploring the idea of questioning, what, you know, what
kind of a world we're going to when we leave
this world, and thinking about heaven as something related to

(04:04):
one of the images in the song, which is a
Bible with a broken binding that's one of the images
I create, and it sort of conveys the idea of
spiritual fatigue and having a hard time maintaining one's faith.
And what I believe in in my music is expressing
the desire to maintain faith and to believe in to

(04:29):
believe in transcendence basically. So that's sort of it's sort
of what the Attic is about.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
And indeed it's a beautiful song, the Attic for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
The addice.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
So what is next for you before we start to
say goodbye.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
To each other?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Well, you know, I am finishing a full album as
of actually tomorrow, I'm dropping a full album of eight
songs for previously recorded songs along with four new songs.
I'm looking forward to getting those songs out there and
continuing to put out one song every month, along with

(05:12):
performing all my music live every week in venues around
where I live, which is in Central mass You can
find my videos my performance videos on my website and
it's just Sam Walsh, Boston. But I like being creative
and I like being productive, and the best thing for

(05:33):
my own mental health is being, you know, being the
prolific artist that I have been with a number of
songs that I've created over the past twenty five years.
Just the act of creating itself is the most rewarding
thing I could think of, And so hopefully now that
this album has been released as of tomorrow, I can

(05:55):
get back to working on more original content.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Be there definitely to promote and to talk about your
beautiful music, this new track which you're starting now to
hear the Attice, the Attice, beautiful song, beautiful song definitely
by the one and only mister Sam Welsh. Is there
a last word that you would like to share with

(06:23):
a wonderful audience?

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yeah, I mean the past year has been kind of
a rollercoaster for me emotionally. I've had some setbacks, but
I've also had some sort of progressive things happened to
me with regards to my life and how it's how
it's required faith to overcome the challenges that I've faced

(06:46):
in the past year. I had a I had an
injury in my studio. I had an animal that I
owned that was very sick, and those two experiences have
really really motivated me to communicate to other people the
importance of maintaining a positive attitude and to think thinking

(07:10):
positively about the future. It's the one message that I
can conveyed to other people with my music.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
I love this beautiful message. Thank you so much for
sharing your path. And you know, as we always say,
life sometimes takes you a lot, but it gives you
back and we have to search the light. And this
is exactly what you're doing with your beautiful music. The
one and only what a great artist, Sam Welsh. If

(07:41):
you have time to listen to a previous interview Sam Welsh,
w elch checkout his music and his new track called
The Addict, which is playing right now, stating with us,
it's

Speaker 2 (07:55):
