Speaker 1 (00:30):
Happy week after Fourth of July. I know it's sad
to say that. That's why this podcast is titled Summertime
Madness and Summertime Sadness. That's why it's like that this
week because there's a lot of feelings, a lot of
emotions that are running through, running through the body with
(00:53):
summer I'll explain in the middle or in a little bit,
not the middle. I don't know. That was like a
false promiser. I don't know. I'm gonna got to the midid.
I don't know when this is going to fall. Maybe
a falls right in the middle. I don't know. Who knows.
All I can tell you it's episode two hundred and
ninety four. Oh man, are we all okay? Are we
(01:13):
all okay? Did everybody have a great Fourth of July?
Do you have all your fingers and all your feet,
all your toes, you have every part of your body
on you? You didn't blow off your wiener or something? Did
you know a good and if he did, If he
did blow off your Wienner, then I'm sorry, I really am. Yeah.
Happy fourth of July. It was a fun fourth of July.
One of the best Fourth of julyies we've had. In
(01:35):
a very very long time. And that's not saying that
like the past four or five Fourth of julyies we've had.
And I've tried to think back because out that I
say that, Cob, but as somebody's listening and go, well,
he was over worth the Fourth of July three years like,
oh he didn't like it. No, no, no, that's not
what I mean. What I mean is it was a
really really good time. On the fourth we went to
my mom and dad's, and I haven't been to the
(01:57):
fourth my mom and dad's in a long time. They
had a camp in Michigan and they would go, of
course to the camper during the Fourth of July. And
it was nice going to their house because I remember
as a kid my mom and dad would row are
really cool Fourth of July parties, really cool Fourth of
July parties, And it was really cool to just go
(02:17):
back and just sit and relax and talk to my mom,
talk to my dad, have a lot of great food,
had a lot of burgers. I know, usually the old
saying or the joke is, oh the hot dogs. No,
I was not pounding down seventy two hot dogs like
Joey jestnut on a Tuesday. It was for Friday at
that point. No, it was it was fun. It was
(02:40):
really good time headed blast and it was just it
was just good playing games, having some good food, drinking
my bud light. Next were Carb Free Bears. I know
they're not a sponsor, but butter Life. If you want
to be a sponsor, you could just call me up
or email me I'm available or DM me whatever you
want to do. So, yeah, it was it was. It
(03:01):
was a it was a blast, no pun. Intended for
the fireworks. And then I came home and the intention
was to go outside, sit on the deck, listen to
the fireworks. Our neighbors. Uh they are doing all the
fireworks for us, you know, which is great. Uh, they
do a great show every year. I don't even have
to go to a professional show. I feel like. And
they all walked away with all their fingers, their their toes,
(03:24):
their feet and their wieners. I didn't personally check any
of that, but I am no ambulances or anything. So
unless they're like, you know, maybe on a wanted list
or something and they had to do like a like
you know, under the counter, we'll call it like surgery.
I don't know that could be happy, but may'd be
really cool it like a action movie, like like a
Netflix movie. I just scrapped. Don't steal that deal on Netflix.
(03:46):
I might be wanting to use that later on in life.
Do you hear about the gall who blue off?
Speaker 2 (03:53):
His wiener had to get reattached, but it was under
the table because he's waded for trees and in England
he fakes an American accent. There you go, there's your pitch.
But no, so we decided to stay inside. We had
some snacks in and it was fun. We watched sand
Lot every fourth of July. My son, My son takes
(04:13):
a lot for him to get into a movie. He
is your typical boy, right. He bounces around, can't focus
on a lot of stuff. And I know I'm saying that,
and I could say that because I'm a man, so
I know his tendencies because they have the same tendencies
when I was a kid, a boy, when I was
a boy, those are the tendencies that I had when
(04:34):
I was the back of the day, when I was
a young boy, I had those same tendencies not listening
or not paying attention. So really, to get him into
a movie, it's difficult, because you know, he's ten thousand things,
but this is the only movie that really You turn
it on and he puts on his kindle or his iPad.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I don't know why I always call it a kindle.
Maybe the hopes of getting an Amazon sponsorship. One day.
He puts on his iPad and his phone or whatever.
Focus is on the movie, and that's sand Lot and
he loves that. And his favorite scene is one of
my favorite saints. Of course, it's that Squints kissing Wendy Peppercorn,
who I always thought was Peppercorn, but no, it's Peppercorn.
(05:12):
Love my fucking mind away yesterday watching the movie, watching
the movie one hundred times picked up on that. No.
So it was great and we have some snacks. We
watched it, and our neighbors shot off their fireworks and
it was great. And it's actually the best night of
the year. And I'm not even joking when I say
this that I sleep because the fireworks are going off.
I hear him in the background, and I just I
(05:33):
feel I don't know what it is. I feel warm.
I was gonna say safe, because that's not really true,
because what if one of those bottle rocket shot in
my bedroom and blew off my wiener really, you know,
but I'm not wanted for anything. I would just go
to the hospital and get that attached. I think. I
don't know, there's a lot of wienergy attachments today, Matthew
(05:53):
James the podcast title for all I know, I don't know.
Maybe we'll see. Yeah. So no, it was a great
fourth of July, and that, like I said before in
this podcast, that was a little down, a little down
on the dumps. I always get a little down around
this time for the Fourth of July because then to me,
it almost signals that summer is halfway over, right, And
then I started thinking to myself, did I do anything
in the summer with the kids, or do we do
(06:15):
anything or am I just like I get all worried.
And it's true. We've done a lot this summer with
the kids. We've done a lot in the spring. We've
done a lot in the winter. We've done a lot
in you know, the falls. We've done a lot. So
it's time though, I always say to put the summer
in overdrive. So we're planning some things like a zoo
trip Santa's Village with my mom and dad and their
(06:37):
cousins and everything. So we are beginning to plan some
of that. But it's like the summer is now an overdrive,
you know, with a couple of months left, actually a
month left before the kids have to go back to
school and get into that whole thing of scheduling and
all that. It's a way for us to you know,
have some final fun moments this year. But it has
been a great week. It really has been a great week.
(07:00):
I had a great fourth of July. I had a
great birthday. It was on my birthday with my wife's birthday.
She had a great birthday. We saw the movie Megan
two point zero. My wife loved the movie. I thought
it was okay, a little sci fi e but I
understood it. But I still recommend to go see it.
It was fun. If you saw the first one, you'll
like the second one. Even my wife said that the
(07:22):
second one was better than the first one. And usually
sequels or not, but it was great. It was a
great time. Had some popcorn, had a little bit of candy.
But thank god, since I've been doing a great job
on insulin and my sugars and all that kind of stuff,
it didn't shoot up too high like I'm not going
to go back into the hospital and you'll have another
episode where I cry about I almost dying. Like that's
(07:42):
not going to come anytime soon, hopefully. Yeah, so it
was a great time. I'm a little slacking on movies.
Kind of gave me a reminder that there are some
movies that had been in the theaters and I just
for whatever reason, haven't had the opportunity to go. So
I know, I in my head, I have to make
a list and get going back to the theaters because
I know I'm I'm slacking on that portion. But you know,
(08:05):
he's gotta make a mental note because one day I
decided to like write down all the movies that I
was missing, and it got so overwhelming. I was like, ah, fuck,
it's gonna take me five fucking days to do this.
So I just gotta do, you know, a little better,
a little bit better when I see a movie and
I want to go see it, either write it down
or definitely go see it. So yeah, I gotta do
(08:26):
a little bit of a better job. But I will,
I will, I will get there. I'll get there earlier,
actually not earlier. After the movie, we sat and watched
a Netflix special together the whole family, and that's something
that we usually don't do. It was a comedian and
magician Justin Willman on his Netflix special that he has
(08:48):
and I will tell you something, it's gonna blow your
fucking mind away. There were some tricks on this special,
actually every trick on this special. I'm not gonna give
it away. I recommend going to watch it. I tell
you right now. I do not even know how half
this shit happened. I really don't. It was so amazing.
(09:11):
Justin is very funny, he's very engaging, really good with
the audience, and it was it's a family show too.
There is you know, adults who are obviously participating in
the comedy act. I won't give too much away, but
there's a comedy thing that he has kids in there,
and it's just amazing how it's done, how it's well
put together. The zip code thing, like I said, not
(09:33):
given too many things away, was awesome but really really funny,
and I really don't know how the fucking did anything.
There was moments in that episode I'm sorry the special
that I would stop and say what the fuck, like,
how do you do that? How do you do that?
And I can't figure it out to save my life
because it was just so well done and well put together,
And yeah, I definitely encourage you can go see it,
(09:57):
and I also encourage on Justin's website he is selling
a magic hit at thirty nine dollars and it helps
Alzheimer's research. So it was just a good time. It
really was. You could tell he's a very nice person,
you could tell that he's a great human and bring
in the joy of laugh and some magic is something
(10:20):
that we need in this world. There's something that we
really need in this world a little bit. That's a
really cool thing. So if you have a couple of
kiddos that are bouncing around and you want to sit
him down and get him really engaged into a program,
definitely watch Sandlot or do this one. The special by
Justin Willman on Netflix. Speaking of specials and comedy specials,
(10:40):
the special for O mod Own is now going to
be pushed back to August sixteenth. Let me tell you
what happened. It's called life. Yes, it's called life. Things
picked up a little bit, you know, some personal stuff,
some work stuff. All things pick up. So when things
pick up, some thing's got to take the chopping block,
so to speak, wasn't never. I'm not going to cancel
(11:01):
this comedy special. And I said this before. I was
thinking about this comedy special before I was in the hospital,
and I was even more motivated to do it when
I got out of the hospital. We're just pushing it
back to August sixteenth, just a month away, and I'm
hoping it's even better now. I'm really hoping it's even better.
So I do apologize now. If Netflix was sponsoring this
and they were paying for it, fuck, I would do
it by July sixth. July, yeah, July sixteenth. I would
(11:23):
have done it by July sixteenth or July ninth or whatever.
This all I said. What did I say? I remember
now see the old dates out of my head. July twelfth.
I would have done it by then. I would have
fucking did it. I would have did it, all right.
Thether pay me a million dollars to the special. Fuck it,
let's go tape it. But no, it's not. It's a
Frank Frank special sponsored by Frank out of Frank's money.
(11:45):
So if Frank's gonna do whatever he wants, I don't
know why I'm talking to third person who knows, but
the long story short of all that long winded answer
wasn't needed. It'll be moved to August sixteenth. So August sixteenth,
eight pm, The Old My Own Comedy Special. Hopefully you
will have the reactions of maybe your mouth you gotta
pick it up off the floor, and also in the
same result, you're laughing very hard. Everything's a joke. Let's
(12:08):
have some good times, all right, folks, Let's have some
good times eight pm, August sixteenth, and that it's going
to take place on Netflix, just kidding, not Netflix, It'll
be on YouTube and TikTok and I'll be uploading it
and editing too. Yep, one man show. I'm you know
what I might fucking give myself credits, might do with
the Frank Frank Frank. Now I'm looking forward to it.
(12:30):
It's something I've always want to do. And yeah, I'm excited.
I'm very excited for it. I'll tell you what I
wasn't excited for. I saw the p Diddy verdict. P
Diddy verdict not guilty on a lot of charges, but
also guilty on a lesser charge. So yeah, P Diddy
was not guilty, and you know, yeah, but yeah, it
(12:55):
is is it right? Is it wrong? I don't know
where you on the flip of the coin our justice system.
I was part of it one time. I know. I
say it like that. People were like, WHOA, you were
a judge. No, I was a juror on a trial.
It was I think a two week trial in total.
It was this guy who had a work fan and
(13:17):
hit a guy he was walking and the question was
whether or not who had the right of way or something.
I don't know what it was. I can't remember exactly,
like fifteen years ago. I'm fucking lucky if I remember
what I did ten minutes ago. And I don't. And yeah,
I remember being a juror. I remember at that time
I was working at a bank and I was into
(13:38):
I was I was into the bank stuff. No, I
was in I was in documentation and I was in documentation.
And I remember saying, as they were going around asking
you questions to see who they were going to select
for this trial, the guy said, hey, what do you
do for a living, And I said, I work at
a bank. I'm in a documentation And he's like, what
does that entail? And I said, I have to review
(14:00):
documents for you know, legal reasons. I have to review
him to make sure that everything is in order. And
as soon as I said that, he perked up. He
was smiling because he knew I'm gonna put this fucker
on this jury. He did, he did, and it was just,
I don't I find it fun. I found it fascinating.
It's not something I could do like all the time,
(14:21):
and I probably couldn't do something, you know, seventeen or
eighteen weeks, you know, in a row or out of
the year or whatever, but it was it was really
interesting and to have a voice and have a decision
of what you felt. And it's it's crazy to think that.
I know some of these jurors were on the pddty
trial were having trouble with this one jur and everything,
and you experienced that in the room. It was something
(14:42):
I never experienced before. You go ahead and sit there
and you have to make that choice of whether this
person is guilty or not. And if it's multiple charges
like the case I was on, you gotta either agree
or not agree. There was eight charges. You got to
hope the guy that everybody's agreeing or everybody's not agreeing
(15:04):
or whatever. And I think we had a point where
we went back and forth on one charge, and it
was just back and forth and back and forth. We
cover like, you know, medical bills he had to cover,
like all those kind of things. But it was something
in one of these charges, and I can't remember what
it was. I can't put my thought process into it.
Like I said, I don't know what happened ten minutes ago.
But when we were, you know, going back and forth,
(15:26):
you get to a point where either you're going to
agree or you're not going to agree. And at that
point you almost got either like who's the who's the
most stubborn in the room, I guess, or that's going
to go to you know, that charge is not going
to count or whatever. I don't know the legal kality
so of that behind that, I know I'm saying that.
And I was on a jury for god six, I
do remember the guy that was in the process of
(15:47):
suing and all that wasn't even in the courtroom that day.
He got up and laughed. I don't know what that
was about. Maybe had an emergency, Maybe he ate something
he shouldn't have ate the night before. I don't know.
That didn't sit with me, right, you know, big trial
and you're gonna walk out. It wasn't a big trial.
I might have been in claims court for all I
fucking know. But yeah, I remember being late one time
and worrying. My dad was so awesome he drove me
(16:09):
down every day downtown to go there. Uh yeah, I
was downtown where the case was at. But I remember
being late one day. I'm like, fuck, they're gonna put
me in contact, but have to sleep in a jail
cell tonight. Fucking traffic. Traffic was bad fifteen years ago.
It still is. But know and I'll remember too, is
the judge was very nice at the end. He thanked
us for our service. He shook everybody's hand. You get
(16:31):
a little certificate and that's it. And but having that
that uh, you know that thing where you're the person
and you're with a group of people, you know, working
together to discover and to find out whether you know,
someone is guilty as something, whether somebody is not guilty
(16:51):
of something, whether somebody is this or something that. Like,
it's a lot of progress and a lot of work.
You get evidence that you have to reread. There are
video like it's a big thing. It's a big thing.
So it's a big you know, big big commitment, big
time commitment, big everything. But I'm not like, hopefully I'm
not doing the one thing when you have your phone
(17:13):
and you're like and you're not even noticing, but you're
like talking to your like I'm talking about what I
wish we had oranges in And then all of a sudden,
like five minutes later on my algorithm, my my on
Instagram's like, do you want oranges? And You're like, what,
Hopefully I didn't say that, And I was like, Oh,
this guy likes fucking Jerry Dude, let's get him on
the jury. Like, hopefully I hadn't do that shit. God,
hopefully I hadn't do that shit. I don't know, hopefully
(17:35):
I did it. Anyway, thank you for tuning in, thank
you for hearing me rant and rave and have some
good times with you. I really appreciate everyone that listens
to this podcast. And like I said, the goal always
is is it relatable? Hopefully are you walking away saying
you have a better life than me? I hopefully you
say that too, like my life's not that fucked up.
(17:56):
I hopefully you're saying that. I'll see you guys next week.
