(00:00):
Dana Lashes of surd Truth podcast sponsoredby Keltech. It's his life mission to
make bad decisions. It's time forFlorida Man. This is an ethics story.
I mean, this is one Ithink in the recap of the Florida
(00:22):
Man stories for the year, thisdude probably should be top three. So
check this out during well, wewere away from the microphone for a couple
of days, so Lee County Sheriff'sOffice saying that they were I don't see,
I don't know if they've caught thisdude. I need to refresh this
to see the connor. But it'sa dude who went into a Bass Pro
shop. He is seen on videoinvestigating what they call a fishy situation.
(00:49):
So this guy was gone on cameraat the Pass Pro Shop and he grabbed
a large fishing net, large fishnet. Lee County Shriff's off saying that
looking for this guy grab that fishnet from the shelf at the Bass Pro
Shop and Fort Myers, Florida. And you know how if you haven't been
to the best pro shop, you'remissing out. It's quat the experience,
(01:10):
real pretty and you can walk offdinner and see some really nice things.
And they have many of these placesout like a big fish tank, huge
huge fish tanks I go into ona Korean but for free. Right.
So this guy takes that fish netoff the shelf at the bass pro shop,
goes to the big tank and windsup sealing a big fish dinner.
That's what I think fifty pound tarpinhe's seeing on video walking away. There's
(01:34):
pictures of him all over social media. Police shared the video, hoping that
the bubbles would help out in catchingthis guy. Now, my apologies to
the gang in Fort MYERSA if youcaught him already. I just I'm looking
at a Fox story from a coupleof days back. I think he's probably
in custody now. Folks at Galluprecently released the study looking at what women
(01:57):
and men really want when it comesto their jobs. So this study from
Gallup, so the results of twoonline polls. Now, it's a pretty
good sized pool eighteen thousand respondents eachover the age of eighteen who are working
part time full time in the country. Found that one third of women reported
being burned out in twenty twenty three. At least sixty nine percent almost seven
(02:23):
to ten women said work life balance, personal wellbeing was the top reason for
taking their new job. I guessthey wanted more flexibility and less work to
do. Fifty eight percent have beensaid the same thing. And there's other
statistics. Whybe we can share rightnow. Kathleen Caldwell, CEO from Caldwell
Consulting, my guests, let meask you about this term that's in business,
(02:44):
lazy girl jobs. What is that, Kathleen? Oh, yes,
Well, it's a TikTok phenomenon wherewomen are gathering together and saying, hey,
we're going to have creat jobs andlook for jobs and be employed in
jobs where we can do the minimumthat's required and draw a very very solid
(03:07):
line between work and home and havea work life balance that really doesn't cause
us to do any more work that'snecessary. And I think, really,
Sergio, this is just about womenwanting more freedom, more autonomy, more
power, and more choice in theircareers. And I mean the term is
(03:28):
it's an interesting conversation. The termis not so great because I don't think
anyone wants to be designated as alazy girl. I like the term more
freedom girl, you know, freedomand powered girl. All right, Well,
give me an example of some ofthese gigs then that you can do
the bare minimum and still get away. I'm thinking it's like service sector jobs
(03:49):
right absolutely absolutely, where you know, with the pandemic Sergio, we were
able to essentially work remotely and youknow, put that line between being in
the office and also being at homeworking at home, so there was a
greater demarcation. But with now returnto office that's happening, it's it's a
(04:11):
little harder to do that. Soservice oriented jobs, with the rise of
AI and with the right rise ofdigital jobs up customer service jobs. Things
where women can essentially be out ofthe office and maybe checked in with the
office in person, maybe once aweek or once every couple days, something
(04:31):
like that, and be less visibleand have more autonomy. Now I understand
everybody wants that, but look atthe same time, like speaking as a
manager, and I know that alot of managers are tuning into talk radio
right now or owners. That's notthe type of employee that I want and
I'm looking for. I want tofind someone with a strong work ethic,
(04:54):
someone who's going to be responsible, someone's are going to appreciate the fact that
they belong to a team that isgenerating revenue, generating them and everybody else
a paycheck and protect the product, whether it be service or something tangible.
That's what I want. I thinksomething needs to be baked into the selection
process, the interview process, tofind the right work ethic. I mean,
(05:15):
what would you be looking for.I don't think you'd want a lazy
girl or a lazy guy working foryou, right right, yeah, yeah,
And Sergio, I completely agree withyou, and I think that there's
a certain segment of the population.I mean, I appreciate this conversation.
And at the same time, whatthis whole lazy girl phenomenon is really focused
(05:36):
on is me, myself and Ias opposed to just what you're saying is
work companies, organizations. We haveto put the customer at the center of
what we're doing and our teams. And I think that the lazy girl phenomenon,
you know, it's raising issues. It's going to be filtering out very
(05:57):
very soon. I'm very sure, because the focus on the triple win,
I win, you win, theteam, warrant wins, and also most
importantly, the customer, the client. Who are we doing all this for?
What's the value proposition here? Andso that's the missing link here with
this lazy girl conversation is there's reallynothing in there about Hey, what about
(06:19):
coworkers, what about colleagues? Whatabout we're growing together, we're doing work
that matters, and what are ourwork conditions of satisfaction? Surgio? What
are we doing as a team tomake the world a better place? Because
business does that. Yeah, forsure, you said, yank you friends,
(06:40):
I'm with you. Work that matters. I think all work matters if
you if you take that attitude, because in the end, again I go
back to the fact that all ofour pages, whether it's a burger joint,
or it's a salon, or it'sa small manufacturer with producing lugnuts or
whatever do dads or you know, some type of a poer business, whatever
(07:00):
it is, we're all part ofa team that is trying to push forward
and protect the product and protect therevenue for everybody who has a family and
insurance to pay for and the billsto pay. That's the attitude, this
mentality that I see online, which, by the way, as an employer,
as a manager, that's the firstthing I'd be checking is their online
footprint, their online the social accountsto see what attitude, because sometimes these
(07:26):
idiots, you know, that's whatthey are. They at work, they
will take video of them goofing aroundor insulting or diminishing the quality of the
service, the product. This attitudethat well, that's not my job.
You can find them usually if theygo fish around in their social sites,
and I would imagine that would helpyou in your hiring process. Look at
their social sites absolutely, and duringthe interview process, is how aligned is
(07:50):
this employee, this potential employee,How are aligned are they with the mission
and the vision and the values ofthe company. If their sole purpose is
to be able to check in andcheck out and ask about what are the
benefits, what are the perks, what are the things I'm getting, I
would say that's the end of theinterview, right. So many great people
are looking for great companies and greatcauses, and let's put our focus on
(08:13):
those people, Sergio, I thinkas opposed to the folks that are trying
to create the me centered focus. And we know that that will not go
well for anyone. So we're focusingin on we We're focusing on us,
and we all can win here. That's what I like to focus. Well,
thankfully, most of these individuals thatare just thinking a paycheck and just
(08:35):
clock in clock they're not very sophisticatedto begin with, or they're not very
clever when it comes to Heiden.Very good their intentions. Well, it's
a pleasure speaking with you, Kathleen. What if folks find you online?
Oh, Sergia, thank you.I am all over LinkedIn, I'm all
over social. I'm not a tiTikTok. It's okay. They're Communist Party
owned anyway, Kathleen, I don'thave a TikTok either, Communist Party on
(08:58):
TikTok? No, No, How'mI going there? So what other catheen?
Just look for Kathleen called well andthey'll find you online right called Well
Consulting Group. Yes, thank youvery much. Thank you, Kathleen,
love time the time with you.Have a great holiday. Friend. Good
to talk to you. And nowall of the news you would probably miss.
(09:18):
It's time for Dana's Quick five stickaround for a conversation on how to
hire smarter managers for business owners kindof twenty twenty four. Wish for you
hiring smarter in twenty twenty four.I'm Sergio Sanchez. This is the Dana
Show from South Texas. Let's seesome of the other headlines of the morning,
setting out congrats to friends just nextdoor over at SpaceX SpaceX and brasel
(09:45):
Texas to the Texas So they madethe news end of an era for one
of SpaceX rocket boosters. The companysaid that it's Falcon nine booster made its
final flights on the Florida coast.Send another batch of start Link Starlink Internet
satellites to low Earth orbit high seats. Forced the equipment to fall over on
its side during transport back to CapeCanaver. So it's the end of an
(10:07):
area. And that's and dozens anddozens of flight for that Booster rocket.
That's how Elon Musk does it.You can save a lot of money,
millions of dollars night using the boosterrockets over and over again. And see
what else is here? Man,You can bet on anything. I don't
know. I guess you call itBookie in Vegas or something like this.
In New Jersey, some guy wonfive hundred thousand dollars for simply predicting the
(10:31):
individuals that would score all the touchdownsand the Week sixteen of the NFL.
Travis Duffner from New Jersey correctly pickedfourteen players who would all score a touchdown
during Week sixteen. You want toknow what the odds of this? He
put five dollars on the table andwalked away with five hundred thousand bucks on
(10:54):
this. That's crazy and up inDetroit. Good thing. The Lions are
having a good season. Man,talk about firing no cylinders. The Pistons
have said an NBA single season recordtwenty seven straight game the games that they
lose. I'm Sergio Sanchez reporting toyou from South Texas. This is the
Danish show Love. And what aboutwhen adults employee misgenders you intentionally? Well,
(11:22):
she's talked like he's talking, you'retalking. You just misgendered me again,
okay, multiple times? Gotcha, both of you have. It wasn't
intentional, But if you want totake it personal, that's awesome. She
did do it intentionally twice. You'retalking too, he said she, And
then he said he, you're beingcondescending. And if you want to continue,
I have full already escort you outthe building. Bo. If you
(11:45):
want to play, this is couldn'tget real? Really, would you like
to continue? Three days before Christmas? I really don't mind I'm good.
I'll just put this on. Ohmy goodness. If you haven't seen it,
you need to go look for thisbecause that airline employee, I think
just set the standard, rung thebell for twenty twenty four. That is
(12:05):
how you handle a How do Irefer to these these folks cultural right,
cultural bullies, because it's cultural war, cultural bully. Welcome to the Danish
show. I'm Sergio Sanchez from herSouthern Command in South Texas at the studis
of k u r V. Hopeyou had a good Christmas. We'll talk
(12:26):
about that in just a little bit. Yeah, that was And I'm not
going to say this radical's name, the LGBTQ plus activist. Dude's a bully.
He's just an attention seeker. It'sa power trip for these folks and
demand that you bend a knee infront of them. You go down and
kiss their boot, kiss their shoesor they're they're pumps that they're they're wearing
(12:50):
these days. You got it,You get it. Pronounce her gender correctly.
It's a Delta Airlines employee. It'sthe probably the side, probably at
the gate, and I'm thinking itdoesn't look like it's a ticket counter.
But this guy stand he stood upand said, look, because he's he
stayed at the facts. I mean, it's your choice. Like I tell
(13:13):
my my sons, it's your choiceto be offended. It's your choice to
be angry. It's your choice toreact after you know in a certain way,
lash out, be violent, bea jerk. That's your choice.
I know somebody else may have beena jerk, but in the end,
(13:35):
it is your choice. So thisairline employee built the airlines, and I
would hope that, first of all, I hope that he still has a
job by the end of the day, because the way things go these these
days, this guy had a spineto him and he wasn't going to take
any look from this lgbt Q transactivist. I don't I don't care where you
(13:58):
stand on pronouns. Look, itwas not intentional. You get all up
and you get in my face andget all offended. Well that's your choice,
and it's your choice to be alloffended. But you know you want
to make an issue this. He'sgot TSA, the transportation security people in
security right behind him, ready togive him back. I wish we had
(14:22):
the same confidence in corporate America becauzan, no TSA backing them up. This
guy showed a spine. I don'tknow if Delta Airlines is going to show
a spine. Remains to be seen. So stay tuned to see what happens
to this Delta Airlines employee going viralon social media standing up against his transactives.
Got all offended because it was misgendered. Enough of that, I think
(14:46):
the overwhelming majority of Americans, we'rejust so sick and tired of all this
mental illness, all this stupidity, all the normalization of these radicals. I
hope and pray that in twenty twentyfour, I hope and pray that corporate
America grows a spine and some ofthem go back and take a look at
(15:07):
their all the red, all thehemorrhaging and their books, whether it's bud
Light and tarj a target which wedidn't sound like for months and months and
months, all these companies that advocatedfor all this, this this cultural upheaval,
(15:28):
this cultural revolution didn't stand up whenthe transactivists came knocking at the door
demanding that they sell this, thatand the other, or that they promote,
you know, to against what theirbase stands for. I hope they
take a look at all the moneythat they hemorrhage back in twenty three.
I hope that they take a lookat this young man a Delta Airlines at
that gate counter, take account ofwherever he was, and they learned how
(15:52):
to grow a spine. No morepower trip, no more saying yes,
accepting power trips, capricious powers. No more bending the need to all these
narcissists, because that's all they are. And it's his phone, right,
it's his phone recording all this sohe can upload to social media and you
(16:14):
know, make himself out to bethe victim, get all these hits and
probably monetize before the thousands of hitsthat he gets. Probably monetizers might make
a buck, quick buck. It'sno more bending a need to these narcissists.
No more power trips, no morecowardice in the face of these cultural
bullies. In twenty twenty four, demand respect, demand civility, and in
(16:38):
corporate America, just demand that thatthese individuals will come calling you and making
all sorts of threats at you.Just demand that they be civil, that
they show respect as well, andthey show tolerance, which is the last
thing that they want to show isany tolerance who for individuals who don't believe
(16:59):
what they do. Thanks for tuningin to today's edition of Dana Lash's Absurd
