Flylight Podcast Network.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm j R.

Glint. Join is always by my wonderful co host, Thomas
Stevens Alvin Glint.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
What up, man, what's good? Glad to be back in
here cooking? What's good?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
No doubt man? Everything good? Man. We spend last week
trashing your bears. We'll talk about it again. Uh, Al,
what's good.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
I'm a good man. Good to see yuh uh you
better watch out for them bears.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Man.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Caleb looked good week, and we're gonna talk about be careful,
be careful, all right, all right, but don doing good.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Good to see y'all, yeah man, no doubt. Many the
first time, and I don't remember how long all three
of us are here, so, uh, welcome back as a collective.
It's good to see y'all.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Good to be back.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah man. Well, we're gonna jump right into this because
first off, we haven't had an Al's Baseball round up
in about it's been about four years.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
All right. Yeah, So with that.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I need to walk through what it's for some of
our listeners or no, I think we can skip that.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
We gets good, okay, Well, I just got one thing
to say. Say to the return of OL's Baseball Round Up.

(01:41):
Let's get it man, tell us about what's going on
in Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Just just for the record, every superhero needs some theme music.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Show.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Do appreciate the theme music. But man, it's good to
be here with the roundup man as we are in
the midst of like a really successful major league season.
So glad to be here, Glad to be sharing a
little bit of what's going on in baseball. That's what
alas Baseball Roundup is all about, just giving a little

(02:11):
bit from my perspective, what's going on in baseball. But
since we are doing the first one of the year,
I felt like we needed to go through a little
bit of what some of the new rules were, you
know what I mean, Like baseball is tweaking every year rules,
trying to make it more interesting, trying to reclaim some.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Of that market shit.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
So definitely, you know, shout out of a couple of
them that's been tweaked a little bit. So for those
who don't know, baseball has a pitch clock now, like
trying to get the game going fast, the pitcher has
to pitch the ball with runners on base. It's now

(02:51):
eighteen seconds, down from twenty seconds. And if you don't
pitch the ball as an automatic ball. So that's real,
real different. Trying to speed up the game. Man, appreciate it.
Little tweaked, make it. I mean, when they do have
a game that's more than three hours now, it's like
a rarity, like you don't even see that anymore. So

(03:12):
good to see that tweak. Another thing that they tweaked
because of trying to make it faster is now the
number of mound visits per team will reduced from They
want to reduce her from five to four. So you
just can't be walking up there old really leary just
because you want to say what's up, or you just
want to, you know, check in with the picture or

(03:33):
no no, no, no, no no, keeping all that down
to a minimum. Another tweak is when pictures warm up,
they gotta face about us. So any picture who sent
to the mound to warm up between innings, he gotta
face at least one batter. Things like that were happening
back in the past, where pitch would warm up and
then they see to who the hitter is and they
able to oh no, no, no, come on out, let's

(03:53):
get another picture in there. Way ain't doing that no more,
trying to keep it kind of keep it yet they're
trying to keep it quick, trying to progress. They I mean,
shout out to baseball for listening. So that's kind of cool.
And then the last one I think they tweaked don't
want to bring up is the playoff format change. So

(04:15):
now each league's six teams that are ranked by their
regular season finish were also the top divisional finish. They're
going to get bars directly into the what do you
call it, the league divisions and the lds, So trying
to make sure that top teams get a bar, which

(04:39):
is that's like some football stuff, right, you know the
past baseball starts everybody playing, So nice little tweet going
into the playoffs, and that kind of leads me into
where we are right now, because we are like near
the end of the regular season. It's about six weeks
left into where the postseason gets in. And for those

(05:00):
who ain't been following, there's like great stars everywhere, and
I think that's really what I appreciate about where baseball
is right now is the amount of young stars throughout
the league. And so probably in my next roundup, I'll
give y'all a sense of who those stars are, but
I really just want to focus on some of the

(05:22):
focus on some of the top teams really or that
when I'm looking at it, got a real real shot
of getting into the World Series. I think when you
look at the top two teams right now, I would
say you're looking at Philadelphia Phillies. I mean, they got

(05:43):
at Bryce Harper, they got Trey Turner, and so they
leading away with the Phillies. They actually got the best
record in baseball, so they've been kind of up and
down recently, but I still think they got pretally the
best shot to really make it. In the American League.
I would say the top team at least over the
course of the year has been to Baltimore Orioles. They've

(06:05):
had some injuries recently, but their their young talent is
pretty impressive, and so they've been a little sub five
hundred over the last month or so and allowed the
Yankees to kind of get back in there. The Yankees
were hot at the very beginning, but when you look
at the course of the season, I think the Olds

(06:26):
have been the really regular team that's been the team
that's been playing pretty steady but.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
How was the young dude that traded to the Yankees.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Man, that's what I'm about to get into. Bro Jazz Chislm,
Jazz Chishlm, and so you know, for all those who
don't know, Yankees and Dodgers, those are my teams. So
I'm glad to really talk about these last two. But
let's start with the Yankees. So one, to your point,
jash Chishlm was a trade deadline pickup. Has instantly brought

(06:58):
energy and let and he can play multiple positions, so
he can hit, he can steal bases, can play anywhere
in the fields that they've put him so far, so
he's been exciting. And although initially there's been some concerns
about how is he going to fit in with the

(07:18):
Yankees colts. Yeah, the Yankees players, and he's finning magnificently
and so he's actually giving them a boost. They were
kind of floundering when he came into their their locker room,
and since then, the Yankees have been on the uptick.
And when you look at their lineup, to put him

(07:38):
in there with a Wan Soto and Aaron Judge, who
are got to be two of the best hitters in
the League. But to have Jazz Chisholm now in that
lineup when they're right, they're going to be one of
the best lineups in the league. Pitching is coming around.
Garrett Cole is that ace. He just came back off
the disabled list the last couple of starts. He's been
pitching pretty steady. So watch y'all for them Yankees.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Then you.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Rounded up with the Dodgers, the seven hundred million dollar
Tani Dodgers. That that team. I mean, honestly, though, Sho
Hay has been leading away with the Dodgers. I mean,
he's just doing this thing as advertarised, leading the National
League and home runs. So he's definitely come to the

(08:25):
Dodgers and been legit. Mookie Betts has been out for
a little while, but he's back. First game back, he
hit a two run homer. So they get in a
lot of health back. So they'll get some pitching back
with Walker Buehler. They'll get some of their hitting back
with Max Muncie. So look at the Dodgers. By the
time they get to the playoffs, hopefully they be kind

(08:45):
of leveling up and be ready to really make a
claim to who's the best team And Allen. Hopefully the
World Series, Clayton Kersher will be back. I mean he's
back now, but I think back to form by the
time we get around there, and they'll have some some
more pictures who will return back by then. So all
in all, I'm hopeful for Dodgers Yankees World Series. Okay,

(09:08):
that would be you know, that would be my dream.
But honestly, though, the Dodgers have been kind of struggling,
so watch out for San Diego to sneak in there
and steal in the l West because they've been playing
really hot the last two games. So you know, all
in all, we got about forty games left in the season.
So when I come back and all of this might
be different because there's plenty of times for teams who
are sitting outside the playoff picture to kind of make

(09:30):
a run for it as we get into September.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Baseball.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Oh that's all I got, brother.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Good stuff, man, it's good to catch up. That's my
whole baseball season in a rap for me, because I
started following the playoffs come and especially after Ronald Cohman
got hurt, I was, I was, what didn't you get her?
Who got?

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Yeah, yeah, yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:58):
The young.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Uh this is yeah, got heard for the Braves. You know,
he's pretty, he's just fun to watch. He's fun to watch,
he's excited.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah, and he's the type of young talent that I'm
talking about right, like throughout the league, even in the
teams that are struggling, this young talent like a Cooner,
that are just making baseball fun to watch. Yeah, some
of us fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Well, uh, we'll catch back up with you once the
season starts to wind down and get some Pennant races going.
We'll check back in with that. But uh, yeah, as always,
man appreciate it. Yeah, So that's it. That's that's Alams

(10:49):
Baseball round Up. He'll be checking in again. So, but
you mentioned young stars and new rules. What do you'll
think about the new kickoff in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
We're gool It's it's different, you know, and and different
isn't always good, but it's not always bad either, you know.
I think it's a new I think it's a new
twist to the to the to the kickoff and to
football because I'm looking at injuries, so they're not letting

(11:24):
the guys run fifty yards full head of steam, just
plumbing into people guys hurting necks and backs and feets
and you know, all that good stuff. So so I mean,
I'm cool with it. I like it.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
I like it cool held you think.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Yeah, I'm kind of saying pool right now.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I'm kind of cool with it.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
We'll see once the regular season starts, and I'm expecting,
you know, listening to some of these coaches, they got
some trick plays in the bag where they might be
running some reverses and read options and all types of stuff, right,
so we'll see what that looks like. But with Pooh,
I think that comment about injuries, it's really something to

(12:08):
keep at the front of our minds. It's like, we're
still able to see some kickoffs minus the injury, so
I think that's a win.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yeah, I agree. I think we wanted to new so
it's gonna take everybody time to adjust. And again, it's preseason,
so we don't really know what they got up this leaves.
It isn't Madden, and they got you know, trick plays
and Madden with the kickoff rules from watching Lincoln play.
So uh, it's pretty cool. And you know, I think
I'll be really excited once we get to see somebody

(12:37):
break a couple, right, and we get to see that
it's worth it. But yeah, you know it's worth it
just for a point of no injuries, like you said, so.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, good point.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah. Any And I'm surprising you all with this one,
but overall, give me one player outside of a first
round pick who is well, one player who surprised you,
and one player overall who's disappointed so far.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Outside of a first round pick.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Rookies, Yeah, yeah, rookie, it could be anybody.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Get no.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
I think a linebacker out of the Cowboys. I can't
think of his name right now, but it's a lot,
but I think he was. He came out of Noted Dame.
If I remember correctly, he's like a third round pick.
Dude is really solid. Okay, he's a lot bigger than
I expected. He's all around the ball and I would

(13:44):
give him and let's just say this time next year,
if he stays healthy, he's gonna be one of the
best linebackers. And I think, and not on our team,
not in baseball, not in football.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
The best team.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
But I think when you when you mix him in
with the Damon Clark, we got Kendrick's playing this year
we'll see if he's here next year. But those two
and then the Marian overshown, like, I just think we
got the making of a really solid, solid linebacker corps
that hopefully can stop to run and do something in
the past as well.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Well, I have to I know you're saying no first
round draft picks Drake, I mean j But Daniel Jones, man,
is he Is he that rusty or I mean, he
never really lit it up, but he looks like I
don't know what he looks like.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
It looks like that.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
I mean, yo, and they did nothing like backups like
Josh Dosmon, I mean anyone you know me for crying
out loud, you know, But but he looks he looks
he looks horrible. Man. But I do want to say
for us, Austin Booker, he's he's been better than advertised

(15:04):
and he's definitely gonna get a lot of playing time
this year bar injury.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Okay, anybody disappointing.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Well other than Daniels.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
One more, yeah, one more.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Dude that I just like to shout out is Braylen
Allen running back for the Jets is definitely as physical
as advertised. And I think when you're looking at him
and Brice Hall in that running back room. If if
I'm the Jets, even with Aaron Rodgers as a quarter back,

(15:40):
I would definitely have a very balanced approach to this
year and feeding Brice and Braylen Allen because I really
like when I see so.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Far in Brilyant. Yeah, I haven't I haven't really seen
a lot of guys that that can be I guess disappointing,
so to steep other than you know, and maybe I
just because a lot of guys been sitting, you know,
but Daniel Jones just stood out. I mean, do you

(16:12):
can you recall saying what about the a lineman from
you guys? Can you guys get a line in the
first round?

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Yeah, he got hurt in the first preseason game. It's
kind of up and down though, but I mean he
will he be back about to start the season, but
spraying the m c L or whatever. But Troy fill Tan,
you know, he's kind of up and down. But he
looked you know, he looked good overall. But he's switching
from left tick of the right tackle. So it's a process.

(16:40):
But speaking of which, I guess the most disappointing player
to me has been Progerick Jones.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
I was just about yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
I mean, he is dealing with the injury. He's playing
with a big brace on his right elbow, so he
can't really get his punch. But his he was already
raw to begin with, so his punch wasn't like, you know,
his punch was one of the main things I needed,
you need to work on. So that's kind of hindered him.
But the primary thing that's been hindering is his progression
is they can't decide where they want to play it.

(17:12):
For some reason, they got this allegiance to Dan Jones,
Dave Jones, Dan Dan Moore. IM sorry, Dan Moore, who's
playing left tackle was the worst tackle in the league
last year. But they will not switch Progerick to the
left side full time. And for a guy who only
played fifteen college games, you keep flip flopping him back

(17:34):
and forth and not settling on a position. You're just
hindering his growth, right right, So but yeah, he looks
horrible the first game and even worse than the second.
So yeah, it ain't looking good and it was so
bad that couldn't really tell how good Russ or Justin
looked that quarterback because they didn't have time to throw,

(17:57):
so I guess it's the major disappointment. But yeah, I'm
surprises Peyton Wilson. You know, I was the biggest pet
Peyton Wilson hated going into the draft, and I'm glad
I was wrong because the man was all over the field.
He did get a concussion in the second game, in
the second preseason game, so hopefully it'll be back something.

(18:19):
But uh, that was good. But yeah, but I'm overall
throughout the league, I'm pleasantly surprised with all the other
rookie quarterbacks. Both Nicks looks good. Yeah, yeah, Daniels looks good,
Jaye and Daniels looks amazing. And speaking of which, I

(18:40):
have the Bears finally found a legit? Will y'all have
in the next decade? Will the Bears finally have a
four thousand yard passer? I think they're the only team
in the league who doesn't have a four thousand yard passer.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
In the we are the only team that is crazy.
And you couldn't tell me that Jay Cutler didn't do it,
but you know, McMahon, they really wasn't passers. Kramer was.
You know, he lit it up for a few but
that was only three you know, three little over three thousand,
thirty five hundred. But go ahead, man, Caleb ca Loob's like, god, man, Caleb,

(19:18):
I'm a static. Yeah, I'm a stag. I just want
to be around seeing man, I'm a static.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Yeah. He looked like a real deal man.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
So no, no second thoughts at all about moving Justin
where he was in his progression to Caleb.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
No, I was, I was. I was totally one hundred
percent on Caleb. Not that not that I disliked Justin,
but you know, we we we scarred him and we
didn't give him the tools that he needed. However, I
like Caleb more because because they were saying, if Justin

(19:59):
would have came out in this drift, it'd have been
a second quarterback taking you know that. That's what That's
what those guys were saying. Yeah, so you know, the
so called expert. So, I mean, he's he's an exceptional talent.
You saw him rolling out to his left drop a
complete dime on the sideline. That was beautiful. Yeah, that

(20:20):
was beautiful. But I just think I just think Caleb
just has a little bit more, you know, arm wise.
But I'm a stand.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Yeah, you know, and like you said, I think it
was just you just passed the point of no return
with Justin Fields in Chicago. You got three years to
get him the weapons you needed. You didn't do it.
And you know a lot of people might say, you
know now that they bring in Caleb, now you bring

(20:56):
in the weapons. But you are where you are. You
gotta yeah, you don't. Hopefully you learn from that lesson.
You don't roll out d J. Moore and a bunch
of plumbers, you know, so you know you uh, you
bring in Keenan Allen bringing and uh yeah it's Devontae Swift.

(21:25):
So you know, hopefully they gives the continue to build
around Caleb because he looks like he is the real deal.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Uh to predicting playoffs playoffs this year for the Bears,
what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
Yeah, what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, what I'm saying. I'm saying, Yeah,
you know, we split with the big dogs last year.
I think Green Bay swepts, but everyone else were split
with So Okay, I'm static, man, I just think we.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Could we can. I think we the score. I think
our d there's leaps and bounds even better than what
they were last year. So yeah, I think we're gonna
be extremely vulnerable this year.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
All right, what what y'all looking like? Who's over there?

Speaker 2 (22:16):
We we brought in with the kid named Bayer Kevin Bid.
We brought him in because we let we let Jacks go.
You know, he just the production went meeting and meeting
up with that contract. You know, he was step their injuries.
What now? So we brought we bought by and of

(22:36):
course Brister you know year year like him. I like
and and Gordon. If we can keep Gordon healthy, he's
playing lights out, you know on the preseason. He's all
over the place. We brought a few energetic guys in
as well, linebacking cords and tact We're hoping Booker can
can come lead something to the past rush and uh

(22:59):
that ster he looks great, you know. So we're I mean,
we're pretty much bringing the guys the same guys back
there and last year extremely well. They're just bigger, stronger
and faster than they were last year.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
How is the young linebacker looking from the rookie from
last year? What was his name?

Speaker 2 (23:22):
The kid from Sambourne come.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Up, Jack Samborne?

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Yeah, oh Jack Jackson. Look good. He's still starting. He
started on the outside. But you know he doesn't play
much because we played you know that Nicholas pretty much.
Ye so, but but he looks good in the four
to three. He's in there and if something goes, goes
a ride with with he's the one of the guys.
He's in there. But you know the tackle machine too. Yeah,

(23:50):
he's a tackling machine too, is you know Sambourne. But
we and then we're excited with the speed and Stevenson.
We look for him to potentially make a Pro Bowl
this year because he had just as many interceptions as
as Johnson. Board so yeah, yeah kid for Miami. Man,
he's bigger, stronger, and faster than than than Johnson. So man,

(24:14):
we're excited. Man, let's play ball, man, tick off. You
can't wait, Man, I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Yeah, Man, so hopefully, Man. I always say like every
and I know you all got to ring in eighty five.
You was a kid always yeah, but I always say
like every fan deserves to see that their team winning ring.
So in contention, man, because I'm really I'm tired for you.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Man.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
I appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Man.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
You could cheat like to get two teams and then
you know, just and since you know the Jets saying
it's like, hey, I got I.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Mean, you can't. You can't claim I've got two teams
because the Jets have been successful in my lifetime. That
ain't it. Some loyalty loyalty to the Jets, but they
have ascended to get some talent. So it's like, yeah,
I have hung on long enough to wear the Jets

(25:24):
are really talented team.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Yeah they are, they are they are, so it really
are real.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Yeah. So we spoke about the Cowboys, call it a
cursor quarterback or whatever, but is their pincher for not
getting that guy ever?

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Right?

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Cowboys? First, which position would you say on the Cowboys
is quote unquote quote unquote cursed.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Mhm mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
I would say it has to be. It has to
be quarterbacks mm hmm. I mean, we've had some of
the best wide receivers come through, even I mean running backs,

(26:19):
it's been you know, yeah, even if Zeke at least
I had I can count Zeke he was he had
a stretch where he was one of the best in
the league. And while again the I say the quarter
back just because it's so much pressure, so much expectations
on the quarterback. And while we've had Romo play, he's

(26:43):
had some really good years. Dak has had some really
really good years. They've seen both of them have not
played their best in the playoffs. And that's I think
that's part of the curse. They have not played their best.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
In the playoffs, the big game, Jacks, the big games?
How about the Jets.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
It's it's not just a quarterback though, it's like everything.
It's really it's just the Jets curses. Whoever you think
is important to that particular year, guess what something's gonna

(27:26):
happen to that person. And it could be a draft pick,
it could be a free agent, it could be a
Pro Bowl quarterback who's about to go to the Hall
of Fame.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
And Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
And for plays and he tears's achilles. I mean, it's
just it's it's hard being it could be a coach.
It's rough with the Jets. It's really rough, big one.
Mm hmmm, hm hmm.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Well still, as I say, it's got to be inside
linea mm hmm. About from Ryan Chaseer, the Devin Bush
the last year col Hok and like anybody who's and
I'm sure I'm leaving out a couple, but it seems
like this, anybody who's promising that steps into that position,

(28:15):
it's gonna suffer a crazy injury that derails their career.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Something's going to happen.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Right, So I'm I'm kind of afraid for Patrick Quinn
at this point. I hope not. I hope he breaks
the curse. But anybody that's there that steps into that slot,
it ain't don't look good. But yeah, man, well we'll

(28:43):
check back in next week. Got one more week of preseason.
Next week will probably be a lot of guys fighting
for roster spots, and you know, a lot of cuts
that might end up on surprise cuts that might end
up on different teams. So we'll keeping eye on that.
But yeah, we got one more week and then a
by weekend we get ready to rumble. So yeah, but that.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
He said one second, So I read I read the
little article today and it just threw me off. I guess, uh,
it's saying the gay You know. They brought June into
the office and they were like, hey, the Bears offered
us a third round pick. Atlanta offered us a third
bound round pick. Where do you want to go? And

(29:28):
he was like, send me to Atlanta, And then I
looked I thought about it, and I was like, man,
is Atlanta you know more for all long enough? Because
he said Atlanta had a better roster. But I guess
maybe Kirk Cousins, I don't know, but I think I
would have went to Chicago. But am I because of
my homer? Or would I just look at the division?

(29:48):
Because that division is shoddy? So now I said, Okay,
the division is pretty bad, Let's go to Atlanta. So
if I if I look at look at it through
those lenses, I guess I'll get it. What's your guys
take on?

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yeah, you have magic city in Chicago.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Right, That's why I said it's the city probably. I mean,
Chicago was a great city. But you know, Matt Judon
is a thirty year old black dude. I'm sure Atlanta
he probably has an infinity for Atlanta and weather play big.
And I thought about that, and then also, you know

(30:26):
the quarterback, Yeah, you know, Kirk Cousins is a proven commodity.
At least at least you know you're gonna go ten
to seven and make it to the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
You know at least that with Kirk. You know, and
then you know you're jumping in with a rookie. You
never know, No, you're talking.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
Yeah, I like that division. Yeah comment. Also, I mean
it is night and day compared to how competitive is.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
I agree to the south right.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Yeah, could be head coach. You never know, a lot
of guys like you know, Raye, That's true, So you
never know. And then you know, with all things being even,
both off in the third round pick. Kudos to the
to the Patriots for giving them a choice, right, and

(31:21):
you know, you never know. You never know what he's
got going on with his family or contract, details of
what Atlanta might have been offering as far as an extension, so.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
They said no extension. He said he don't want an extension.
You want to you want to earn it. And he
also stated that he thinks that Atlanta is closer to
pretendent for Super Bowl this year than the Bears. That's
why he chose.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Yeah magic, Yeah, chicken wing. So yeah, yeah, man, y'all
you're ready for some tribute.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Yeah, man, we banned the man might went to bed man.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Hey ain't no, yeah, we ain't making no promises here.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Excuses all right, look at you? Yeah, I think you
think you know you got the got it, got it
in for him at.

Speaker 2 (32:19):

Speaker 1 (32:19):

First category is name to a journey, So I'm gonna
give you every team an athlete that's played for for
NFL quarterbacks, so that's from college to pros and you
name who I'm talking about, So it'll be one through

(32:40):
five in that category. Second category is Dallas Bears, Chicago
Cowboys whatever us guys who have played for both the
Bears and the Cowboys in their careers. Mm hmm right,
that's right up, y'all, alley. And last category is NBA

Speaker 3 (40:10):
We're going I'll do facially challenge for two.

Speaker 1 (40:14):
Fasically challenge for two a point guard out of Florida State.
I'm sure he looked a lot better with his three

Speaker 1 (41:48):
You got to You got the two? That was samself,
the west leftl and that one one, three and four
and the five and bears. Let me do three.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
I'll do that three.

Speaker 1 (42:02):
The Chief a stone face center, was an integral piece
with the nineteen eighties Boston Celtics championships.

Speaker 3 (42:11):
Hated this guy, Robert Parrish.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
Robert Parish is correct?

Speaker 2 (42:16):
And what's what's that on the face?

Speaker 1 (42:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (42:20):
What was this? The chief greased the chief?

Speaker 1 (42:25):
Hey? Chief one good looking man. I saw him on
Take You greased the Chief? Hey, I saw him on
take that the other day. He's married and smiling. That
that first time I ever seen him smile.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
Yeah, he always had to grill.

Speaker 1 (42:40):
Look on right exactly. It looks good.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
All right, pool, You then give me whatever for the
fire man.

Speaker 1 (42:51):

Speaker 2 (43:18):

Speaker 1 (43:25):
Robas, That is Incorrectaters Jason Peters, Peters, you say repeated, Oh.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
Pete, Pete Peters. That definitely a memory, Peter.

Speaker 1 (43:39):
That big dude is a tight end.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
That's great.

Speaker 1 (43:45):
At this point of Alice for ships and giggles pretty much.
But you want the NBA facially challenged. You want the
four out of the four four.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
All right?

Speaker 1 (43:59):
Given a cartoon nickname, he played in the NBA from
ninety three to four and is now an assistant coach
for the Denver Nuggs.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
M hm, repeat it, yeah one more time.

Speaker 1 (44:16):
Given a cartoonish nickname. He played in the NBA from
ninety three to two thousand and four and is now
an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets ten nine, eight, seven,
six five four Snoopy Jackson? Is it correct? I don't

(44:39):
know that, but.

Speaker 5 (44:41):
Papeye Jones, damn man, damn with his all right.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Uh pool, we got the one and facially challenged, and
I think that.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
Might that's it.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
I don't want to give me that one.

Speaker 1 (45:04):
For the spaces man, also known as the Hick from
French Lick. He might not have been a looker, but
he sure was a score. Larry Bird, Larry Bird, what
is that good?

Speaker 3 (45:17):
The heck on French Lick from.

Speaker 1 (45:19):
French lickt we welcome back to trivia, Al you are
the winner the score of thirteen to four, thirteen to five.
Sorry shot your own point. Thirteen to five is the
correct score. But uh yeah, well take your bows, here
your flowers and uh yeah, welcome back to trivia.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
That was fun.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
Welcome back to Tia.

Speaker 1 (45:42):
Absolutely, but yeah, we'll bring back trivia again next week,
one of youall hosts and I'll be a contestant. But yeah,
that's all I got. Man, Any parting shots before.

Speaker 2 (45:56):
We leave, mans, men or women, just I guess, just
be aware of who you're dating. Man, Notice the signs.
I just came upon three or four news articles. One
guy shot the girl mom girlfriend mom and the girl

(46:18):
right outside the courtroom like they was in the courtroom,
saw the judge, he got out, shot killed them both.
Another guy shot his girlfriend and stuff a ball down throat,
you know, choked to death and wanted to make it
seem like she suffocated off the ball in the throat
like cat's just wild. But just just like I said,

(46:42):
could go both ways. Definitely try to pay attention to
the signs and know who you're dating.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
Yeah, absolutely, first time about as we need to talk
after this, but yeah, okay, yeah, but definitely well.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
No, man, nothing serious. Just definitely echoing who's warning because
that's some serious stuff.

Speaker 2 (47:09):
Kind of blew me away on that one, right.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
Yeah, be careful out in them streets. Take care of yourself.

Speaker 2 (47:18):
My mind.

Speaker 3 (47:20):
You can't take nobody else if you're not taking care
of yourself. So the self care is huge. And also,
you know, just be checking out on folks for on
the mental health tip, you know, reach out for folk,
make sure they're doing good. Other than that man, that's
all I got no doubt.

Speaker 1 (47:38):
Yeah, especially your strong friend. Everybody nobody chased on the
strong friend. So absolutely.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
Well.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
I almost feel bad because mine is nowhere near as
serious as topics. But poor I got a bone to
pick with you.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (47:56):
Devin Hester is a Hall of Famer and Hinds Water
is not.

Speaker 2 (48:00):
Explain that to me, sir, I just don't recall seeing
I was awarded any record.

Speaker 1 (48:08):
Books, the special teams record books.

Speaker 3 (48:15):
It's a rocket book, a record times.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
Though I like, I like Devin. We shouldn't be in
all of fame. Yeah, you're the all time leader period
record books, but so was Gary Anderson. You don't know
who that is, dude, exactly? You know Gary Anderson is

(48:41):
he's an all time leader.

Speaker 2 (48:43):
He was.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
And who's the kicker that's broke his record? Don't Minarry.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
Right?

Speaker 1 (48:53):
Special teams man. I love Devin Hester for what he.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
I mean, Dinetaria be in there.

Speaker 1 (49:03):
Mm hmm, though.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
What not? I mean that that's the athlete that's pressure
kicks score after score after score. What is the league
all time league score or something like that.

Speaker 1 (49:15):
So it's Cordell Patterson the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (49:18):
What does he do?

Speaker 1 (49:21):
He's done just as much as Devon and he played
and he contributed more on offense.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Maybe he did, you know, but I don't recall him
carrying a team to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
They haven't carried anybody to the Super.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
Bowl then carried us? Was it was the only offense.

Speaker 1 (49:40):
I mean in the actual Super Bowl. We didn't carry
you to the super like.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
Devon was our only offense period in the run game.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
He was on offense or specially like in the return game.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
Yeah, in the return game, he carried us right.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
Often they didn't carry you. He carry you, all right,
if we're gonna walk in reality here right right? I
get it. I respect Devin what he's done. But my
my beef was, it's too many especially at his position,
receiver right on the corner whatever, because if real they

(50:21):
have a position for it's too many receivers not in
the Hall of Fame, and not just heins one s,
but there's too many receivers not in the Hall of
Fame for us returner to leap frog them all. Like
it took Drew Pearson thirty years to get into the

(50:42):
Hall of Fame. The man cried every single year, I
mean literally cried, why ye won't be right? I got
I don't know, man, And I'm just feeling like you
open up a Pandora's box, because then you have to
consider that I was like Cordell Patterson, Adam Vanity, Mike

(51:04):
vander Jet like I don't think it's the hull of
great at something because you weren't good enough to be
something else. You get what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (51:20):
I get it, but I mean, he's the NFL time.
I ain't got no knocking getting in m and he
hit bookoo pressure kicks. Then you go the first the
first couple of Super Bowls.

Speaker 1 (51:37):
He carried him, right, But then you gotta keep Willie
McGinnis out just off that team, right, So you gotta
keep Willie McGinnis out, you gotta keep Vince will Falk
out m M and then so that's tough for me, man,
But yeah, I just had to pick I had a

(51:57):
chance to talk to you about it since then got
inducted with that. I called it a sham Hall of Fame, man.
But but they put ju get an asterisk right and
put the people's out of uh. But but yeah, I'm

(52:18):
just letting you know, out of bone people with you.
I know you ain't trying to make me because he
and now ain't nothing I can do about it.

Speaker 2 (52:23):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (52:24):
But yeah, but I probably mentioned on every third show
and two Hines walking, so we'll no need, no need
to let it go, right, So hole brother oh man?
But yeah, man, that's all I got, Man, good man,
It's good to have y'all back. Man. No, but uh,

(52:45):
jump back in next week talk about this last week. Man,
it seemed like these last couple of weeks are just
getting like dragged by because I'm so ready for the
regular season. But we're gonna make it. We get back
and talk about it again next week. Until then, and
the fire Life.

Speaker 2 (53:04):
My life by life see mm hmm

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
