(00:02):
Welcome to the The Firelight Podcast.I'm j R. Glen, joined us
always by my wonderful co host AlvanGlint. Was good because yo, yo,
what's going on my man? Man, I'm good man. It's brought
to you. Was always about aThe Firelight Podcast Network. Uh, we
(00:23):
are rolling too deep again. Uh. Thomas Stevens is not with us,
not in not in that aspect. He's still with us, but he with
us. Uh, he's out doingstuff with his uh with his with his
family. So shut out Tim ashout out the pool. Being a good
dad, no doubt. Yeah man, but it was so when it's when
(00:47):
it's this kind of work, man, it's all glint everything. What you
do, no doubt. What's goodthough, man, not bad man.
Weather's good, wether's beautiful. Yeah. So you know, just spent some
time at the soccer field. Oneof my nephews had a soccer game,
so it was checking that out.Beautiful day. Actually actually did some yard
(01:11):
work, cut the grass, soeverything being everything good. Saturday, okay,
yeah, Sam got up early, watched my car. Well, I
bought my son a car and hyeah. Okay, so yesterday when he
got to school, you know whenI went to when I wanted to watch
(01:32):
my truck and took him with meand make sure that you knew what he
was doing. Uh huh So thenright, so then this morning that got
up early and watched the other car, so my wife's car and stuff.
So it was good. Man.They ain't done nothing more. The rest
of the day calls wore me out, but uh, I'm good. But
(01:56):
yeah, man, today we're gonnaget into a little bit of a draft
talk, as you usual, gottaresident Cowboys fan on. So we're gonna
get into some Cowboys draft needs andfished let's go, and uh we'll also
uh talk some cornerbacks, talk someguys you like, some guys you don't
(02:16):
like, your guys and you're notso guys. Then we'll talk a little
bit about Tom Brady's attempt to Iguess stay relevant, say be interested in
making a comeback. So yeah,so you jump right into it, man,
Cowboys in the draft things the firstround, Cowboys are picking twenty fourth.
(02:43):
Yeah, and of course you knowand couples a little light on draft
capital this year. Yeah, butwhat what what would you identify as the
Cowboys at this point? I mean, they didn't really do a whole lot
in free agency, so not muchhas changed. But what would you identify
as Cowboys and major needs in thedraft. Well, I think you touched
(03:07):
on one, which is I thinklinebacker, cornerback are things that you'll see
us pick up some talent in thedraft, but I wouldn't expect us to
go there early. I would expectus to go offensive line early, and
particularly if we can get a tackleor guard that's top two or three in
(03:35):
the draft, and you know whatI mean, like the number two or
three tackle, the number two orthree guard. You might see us snatch
one of them up at twenty four. If we don't get one of those,
I wouldn't be surprised if we tradedown and get a pick, because
to your point, we are lowon draft capital and I might see them
trade down to try to acquire anotherpick. Okay, how how far I
(04:01):
mean? I know this is aa deep tackle class and a deep center
class. How far would you belooking? Would you trade out of the
first round and still hope to pickup I think he takes a part right
right. I think I would tryto stay in the first round, but
(04:21):
I would also be looking too ifI'm gonna get a second or third round
pick, probably third more like thirdor fourth round pick. By trading down
and staying in the first then Imight be looking at trying to get the
best center, you know what Imean. Like, so that's what I
(04:43):
would look to do if if couse, we have to replace our center as
well. Yeah, Bettish he left, but we got some Yeah he went
to Washington. We have some youngoffensive lineman brock Hoffman, Tyler la Bass
who got some opportunity to play thispast season, and so I wouldn't be
(05:10):
surprised if they'd give if they beton at least one of them being a
starter this year. Okay, sowhat do you suggest they do with with
with Tyler Smith? And you thinkthey leave him at left guard, move
him out to the left tackle.I know he stated that he's come more
comfortable at guard, but he's willingto do whatever the team asks, and
(05:31):
he's been really good at whatever theteam asked, and so I appreciate his
willingness to be flexible because he hasshown that he's a really good tackle as
well. So I would, honestlyif I think the Cowboys are playing it
smart by waiting to see what theycan get in this draft. And so
(05:54):
I know you're like the guy outof the tackle out of Georgia. Yeah,
a Maurice Men. Right, Soif one of those tackles, there's
about two or three of that quality, really really good tackle. If one
of those three guys fell to twentyfour, I would draft him and then
say, Tyler Smith, stay there, guard, we got our tackles and
(06:16):
keep it moving, okay. Yeah, And at this point, if a
guy like Graham Barton from Duke,if he falls, you know, with
his versatility, you know, youcan see if he sticks as a tackle
or a guard or a guard. If the centers don't work out, he
can play center two. So Ireally like him, particularly because Zach Martin
(06:42):
is, you know, maybe twothree years away from Max, Right,
Max, this is all he's gonnabe on our team. I wouldn't be
shocked if they had an opportunity topick a flexible guard like I mean,
guy like Barton for the for thefuture, right Yeah, yeah, I
got even play off five positions. The more you can do it only helps
(07:09):
only And so I would expect inthe first I mean, if I was
betting, I would say in thefirst two picks one of those drafts,
first or second round, we're gonnapick offensive a linment. Okay, so
you mentioned cornerback because a lot ofthat might it might be a head scratcher
to a lot of people who arenot you know, don't pay a lot
(07:33):
of attention to the Cowboys because youknow, you figure you've already got Trebon
Diggs boys coming back from injury, and you got dron Blad, right,
just had like eight hundred pick sixesthis year, right, and I see
it a lot, you know,as cornerback as being the need. So
(07:54):
why is cornerback in need for that? Because you can't have too many really
good corners as you see with Diggs, any of them can get hurt.
And now you're sure, right,But that being said, unless it was
a top of the game cornerback whoslipped to us, I would be shocked
(08:18):
that they picked one in the firsttwo rounds, right, because we have
Digs, we have Bland, wehave the veteran out of Michigan. I'm
blocking on his name right now.Oh yeah, shoot, I'm blocking on
his name, right, Jordan JordanLewis. Yeah, right, we have
(08:39):
so you got three really good cornerbackswho if healthy a rookie is knock gonna
get a lot of burns. Iwouldn't I wouldn't spend high draft capital this
season on a cornerback. I'd beshocked if they did that, unless it
was a really really good guy likekool aid or tearing on, you know,
like that ain't gonna happen. Butit's like CD Lamb, right,
(09:01):
you know, Cede Lamb slip tous, Oh you got to take a
wide receiver. Because that wide receiveris available to us, that cornerback is
available, you draft them otherwise, don't do that. Okay, Yeah,
we'll get back to the cornerbacks ina little bit of the guys you like
and vice versa. So, speakingof CD Lamb, mm hm, would
(09:24):
a high pick at wide receiver shockyou at all? Again, if the
wide receiver class this year is highquality, particularly up high m if one
of them slips, I wouldn't mind. Like when I say one of them,
I'm talking Romeo the A Douzier,I'm talking a neighbor, the guy
(09:50):
to L s U. You know, if they're not falling in right.
Oh yeah, So would you beopposed to the other L s U Like
Brian Thomas Junior or Mitchell or anybodylike that. I would maybe trade back
(10:11):
for one of them. I mean, I wouldn't be I wouldn't be mad
if they end up on the Cowboyroster because I think they're high quality.
But when I'm looking at our offensiveline, I guess to me, it's
gonna be best player available. Whenyou look at certain positions, offensive line
is high priority. Linebackers high priority, wide receiver priority but not high priority,
(10:37):
and so is cornerback. Right. So, but I got to get
me at least one really good offensivelineman out of this draft, at least
one, and that's what be somethingI focused on. Yeah, and this
is a good draft to need cornersoffensive lineman and yep we got that,
(11:00):
not that need to need linebackers. So especially you know you're right with the
Leaden Vanderesh retirement, and uh sothere is a need there. So what
are your two questions? One,there's a lot of well, I said
a lot of talk, but I'veheard the idea of switching Michael Parsons back
(11:24):
to off off ball linebacker, especiallyas he started, you know, in
the last few seasons he started towear down late in seasons as a pass
rushing So what are your thoughts onthat? And then who would you if
you leave him at edge? Russier? Who? Who? Who are some
(11:45):
guys who fit with Dallas doars comingout this year? For me, I
like the idea of being very flexiblewith Michael Parsons and using him on the
line when I thinking it's a passand I'm using him strictly as a pass
rusher on other plays, I thinkI would move him off ball to reduce
(12:11):
some of the wear and tear offof him, as well as keep it
kind of mysterious in terms of kindof fine wall though, find Michael when
you don't know where Mic is liningup every play. And so that's why
that's how I would approach it ifI was in that defense, because he's
(12:31):
pretty good at wherever you put him. He can even you know, handle
going out for a pass as alinebacker. So I've seen him do that
really well. Okay, Yeah, one of the more versatile guys in the
league. And I think you knowthat gives you an opportunity to that,
Like you said, just kind ofwhatever you get in the draft, just
kind of play off of that.Mm hmmm. And there's some good linebackers.
(12:54):
Drin Cooper is one that I like, and Cedric is one that I
like. And I'm blocking on abrother's name, but he plays in Michigan.
Yes him, Junior Corn. Yeah, he's I would like one of
(13:16):
them to be added to my rosterthis year, right. Yeah, those
are all good names. It's nota top heavy linebackers. Some guys that
are very intriguing, and so oneof them drafts that. To your point,
it's going to take a couple ofyears for us really to see what
(13:37):
three or four linebackers in this draft, because I think there are gonna be
three or four linebackers in this draftthat people will remember as Okay, they're
good rotational players in our league rightnow. I know Dallas could use that
player. We got Kendricks that camein as a veteran. I'm happy about
that. Demond Clark I think isdeveloping. I like that. Uh hum,
(14:05):
brother got hurt. I think hislast name is over Shawn, the
Marvin Overshawn was making plays in thepreseason, just got hurt. So hopefully
he comes back healthy. And ifthat happened, that's three really good line
packers. As we'll see and youngand young andckck right. But he was
(14:33):
He's still making plays in the league, and so I would if those three
players were to stay healthy all season, I think that would cover us.
Oh you know, that's what couldhave been with Leyton. He was he
(14:54):
was a heck of a player, the heck of prospect coming out. But
uh, good thing family, he'sgot to play this long with make injuries.
Yeah. Yeah, definitely one ofthem players who gave it is all,
who played the game the right wayand was a much better athlete than
people. You know when you lookat him, but he was like above
(15:15):
above average athlete. M So talkingabout cornerback, So, who give me
some guys who are you know, whether they're first rounders or late brown picks,
who who as some guys that youconsider your guys, some guys you
like in this draft? Corner Imean, the linebackers coming out of Alabama
(15:41):
particularly have caught my interest. Andmaybe it's because you know, you always
fantasize about these pair cornerback duos thatcan really lock down on offense and coming
out of the SEC. You know, they played some really really good competition
and so just the way they've playedoff each other definitely have become two of
(16:06):
my favorite prospects. Just getting enoughopportunity to see them play in their career.
Yeah, sound like carry on andkool Aid a lot, you know,
I guess with It's always the concernwith with Alabama corners is have they
maxed out? Because they're cooked sowell right right at Alabama with Nick Saban
(16:30):
when he's there. But you know, Ken and I had the results,
so now not at all, becausewhat you know is that they're getting good
reps in practice and get goodle repsalmost games, and so if they do
well in those situations, you know, that says a lot at least in
(16:52):
terms of some of the preparation theyreceived. Any any others that you,
uh, that that you've got adraft crush on? You know he Max
Melton's Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Max Mountain is
uh it's a fiightsy dude, LikeI think that's what it is. It's
(17:15):
his spirit that I like about howhe plays the game. Absolutely, any
uh, Any any guys that youjust like, now that's not my guy?
Any of those I can't say Igot any of those that I feel
like an overrated or leaves on centerto me, not can't say I got
any cornerback like that. Okay,Yeah, Max Mountain is definitely one of
(17:38):
my guys. Mike Samon Steel fromUH from Michigan, It's like, yeah,
Mike him cam Hart from Notre Dame, it is one of my guys.
Man, I like all the onthe first round. I'm not as
high on Nick Wiggins is a lotof people are. He's out Clemson Clemson.
(18:06):
Yeah, I don't dislike him.Thomas loves him. Oh yeah,
of course if he played Hopscotchy,but I I don't. I like my
corners to be more than one hundredand seventy five pounds. It's tough.
Aside makes a different. Yeah,and he's he's I mean, he's an
(18:26):
amazing athlete, but to be thatlight and have shorter arms as a corner
is not. So I won't sayit's anybody absolutely I don't like. But
yeah, of the top corners,he's probably the one I believed high on.
He might go first round. Ohyeah, absolutely he could. Yeah,
(18:49):
so let's see. And I mean, if if it falls out the
right way or that way, hecould go first round. The Pittsburgh.
So then I have to deal withit. Yeah, I can use a
corner but I like that. Ilike the one y'all drafted recently, Joey.
(19:11):
Oh yeah, well yeah, Imean I love Joey, But you
know, we it kind of alleviatedthe need a little bit trading for the
Dante Jackson Carolina. At least wegot like a baseline started. So but
I don't know the crazy things happenedin the draft, man, Yeah,
(19:33):
I mean, and when it comesto the Cowboys again, we got some
players already ahead. So I can'tsay I've been spending a lot of time
really looking at cowboy I mean lookingat cornerback because I don't really expect us
to draft one until much much laterin the draft, if unless there's a
(19:55):
stud. Yeah right, So whatdo you want to that I gotta get
me a running back to like that'ssomething that let's say, just say third
round, fourth round is where Iwould expect you, did you to see
the Cowboys draft of running back becausewe like right now and like late second,
(20:19):
early third, I expect that tobe a run running back. What's
your favorite? Oh? What's that? Ric o'doddle game? H ric O'donald
Duce Vaughan and then mm hmmm, brother, I think Florida Malik Davis.
(20:45):
Okay, that's about it. Soyeah, need running back. We need
running back, especially if we canget me like get me like in the
second or third round. A reallygood one running back Jonathan Brooks. I
like his game, I really do. And so you know, I want
(21:07):
I want a dude. I'm reallyyou know, he ain't got the like
I look at the Jets, youknow I'm jumping into and I've been so
excited to see how Bryce Hall hasdeveloped as a running back. I didn't
know he was that guy, butI'm like, oh wow, the truth.
He's the truth. That's what Iwant to share one Cowboys. I
(21:32):
need that guy. Tony Polat wasyou know, he was okay, and
but I was a big ziek dude. I like having a running back and
we need to doubt. Mm hmmm. Last question on cornerbacks. What do
you think do you think Cooper Degeneis a corner or safety? You know,
(21:53):
I say, I think ultimately he'sgoing to go safety, okay,
right, but I say he alsohas the ability to be one of them
safety that can also cover in theslot. Yeah, And so you know,
(22:18):
I think those types of players arevery valuable in the league if they're
in the hands of a really creativedefensive coordinator. And when you have those
types of players, it makes itreally hard to defend a good defense when
you have to find a player thatyou're trying to strategize against every play,
(22:42):
right, and so if you don'tknow where that player is going to be,
it's kind of hard to strategize againsthim because it's like, where's menca
this play? He's over there now, Damn. I thought he's gonna be
over there, And so yeah,I would keep him as a chess piece
type player. Yeah, she performreally well at his his pro day,
(23:03):
So showed the athleticism needed to uh, you know, make to stick at
corner and like I said, beyour chest piece. Move them around man.
You know, heck of a puntreturner too. So you're getting,
you know, getting a lot ofthings with very very valuable Uh you're looking
are you hoping you're you're stealers snatchhim up or something like that? Is
(23:25):
that why you throw his name? And no, I mean I wouldn't be
mad man, Like I said, corners On, there's a possibility for the
Steelers, But yeah, I preferablywould want to golfs. Yeah, I
got you, we got we gotthe richest defense in the league man and
the youngest offensive. So paying allthat money and the boy the you know,
(23:48):
still got got seven first round pickson on defense. So I wouldn't
be mad at get you know, cool with Degena any corner. Yeah,
but I'd rather often The other runningback that I like is I mean,
(24:10):
I like Michigan Mike. Yeah, but he's a little kind of lake Corn,
a little kind of small. ButI do like the way he runs.
The one that I really like asmy number two if it wasn't Jonathan
(24:30):
Brooks who came to the Cowboys,I like Brailn Allen out of Wisconsin.
I like Allen. Yeah, Ilike Brailin as my number two. Hope
who lands on the Cowboys. Yeahit was it was two thousand and seven
Brandon mm hmm, because for severalreasons. One just how he runs.
(24:55):
Two Wisconsin was just running the ballforty game they want throwing around around the
park. So not that not yourdaddy's Wisconsin, it's not your daddy's Badgers.
Yeah, change it up. ButI also like the running back out
of note your dean estimate. Yeah, I like him to like him too.
(25:18):
He runs, Yeah, like him. It's it's a lot of guys.
I said, it's gonna be bunchedright there. You're gonna see a
run on running backs. I thinkonce one team takes him, takes one,
everybody else is gonna be like,Okay, I gotta get my starting
to get my I guess a lotof guys are liking shift. Yeah.
(25:41):
Do you like Frank Gore Jr.I do, but I don't think he'll
be drafted very high. Yeah. It's tough to be small and slow.
Mm hmmm. Yeah, a guylike Isaac Grenda from Louisville, former Wisconsin
(26:06):
running back. I think he's asleeper. You know, he just big,
fast, but he just doesn't playup to his size power. Yeah.
But my, my, my guyin this drafted running back is uh
Tyern Tracy Jr. Former wide receiverfrom Purdue. He's a former wide receiver.
(26:30):
He was a five star receiver andthey moved the running back. So
you can not a lot of experience, and you can tell that it is
running, but you can also tellthe receiver by creative as he is.
But yes, what's his size?Like, how he a decent size?
Yeah? How six one? Liketwo ten? Yes, that's decent.
(26:55):
Yeah, that's real decent all right, But I like them a lot in
a class like this where you knowthere's no Adrian Peterson or Ezekiel Elliott.
You know, it's kind of athis drafted running back is kind of a
choose your flavor and you know,so whatever fits your preference. But it's
(27:18):
a lot to like out there. It's kind of like the linebacker class you
can get. You can get areally good player in the second, third
round and later because teams are notgonna draft him by Yeah. I think
Brice Hall was like a third roundpick, you know. So it's like
when you are able to get aquality running back second, third, fourth
(27:44):
round, right as you're building aroster, that definitely helps, right yeah.
Man, So and you gotta haveone, I mean everybody saying there,
you know, they're devalued in theirdraft, devalued and free agency unless
you take one. But but youguys, you gotta have a good one
(28:06):
or a good room, a goodrunning back room. And to me,
a good running back room usually meanyou got at least one really really good
guy, and I mean I likethe rotation side of it, and that
to me when I look at theCowboys, if we were able to get
a really that guy and have Dowdleand the leak and you know, now
(28:33):
we got a good room. BecauseI like Donald he's solid. Yeah,
I like that. Oh good twobacks, right key? Yeah? Good
number two. So the Goat's kindof thrown it out there that he's open
(28:59):
to making a comeback. Two questions. One, do you think he's just
blowing smoke trying to stay relevant orand if he's serious, will anybody call
hm? Well, I think he'sserious, just because one Tom Brady never
(29:26):
really seemed like to stay relevant tight. Two I'd imagine any top athlete.
Most top athletes have an itch rightafter a year goes by. It's like
I kind of missed this game, man, I could, I could.
Yeah, I'm not surprised who callshim. That would surprise me. Like
(29:51):
when I really if you scan theleague, especially at this point, yeah,
maybe if somebody got hurt, allright, maybe you know, I
might call him in the middle ofthe season, like, hey, you
know how Joe Flacco got into thebrown situation this year? I can see
(30:14):
that. Yeah, the only thingI could possibly at this point think about
maybe if so, maybe so theRaiders. I mean he's got his ties
with the Raiders now, you know, getting in the ownership and well they
got Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshaw. That's not a bad look. The only
(30:41):
thing is they're not a championship caliberteam. So you willing what would they
be with Tom Brady and Devonte Adams? Is Josh Jacob still there? Oh
that hurt? Yeah? Like whattom Brady turned them into a contender?
(31:03):
I mean not a contender, butI guess if I'm Tom Brady, I
was just playing with Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So but you want to super like
That's what I'm saying, Like, could he would he? Could he do
the same thing there and turn thatone? Not? Could he? But
would he be willing to go tothe Raiders knowing I ain't even got a
(31:30):
shot at Super Bowl? I don'tthink Tom Brady would. I think he
looks at that roster and says,I can do something with this. I
got a shot, Okay, theylike maybe you look at the Raiders.
I mean, with with the Raidersroster as it's constructed, and a quality
(31:51):
quarterback. I would say they're inthe playoffs, now, can they march
all the way to the super Bowl? Just I mean, but I would
put him in the playoffs though, right, Well, shout out to you
Tom. Now. I don't wantto see him back. I don't want
to see him back, But anyplayer who wants to keep playing, I
(32:13):
always say, hey, go doit because you only you know need too.
Ain't like to come back at sixtymm hmm. So he like,
can I get one more year?Right? And he didn't go out looking
bad like that's the part that Icould see an athlete like that getting the
itch because he's staying yeah, yeah, I leave too early, right,
(32:36):
And I mean Tom Brady is notlike he's going to have a major learning
curve. He seemed all jump rightin yeah son and yeah joking Tom.
Tom Brady will always oh right thegoat right, yeah man? Yeah man.
(32:57):
That's all. We got really uhin and out really quick today.
Last thing, man, you gotan important shots for the people. No
nothing, I don't. I don'thave anything to add this week, man,
Just stay up, stay healthy andenjoy hopefully got some good weather and
(33:20):
you know, shout out to allthose on the J Cole side of the
beef. I wasn't gonna talk aboutit on that, but I don't need
to talk about it. I'm justshouting alcohol on my side. Got to
talk about it. Just shout outto all those who are rocking with J
Cole. All right, what's whatyou wanted to ask a quick question?
(33:46):
What were your thoughts on the women'snational championship. Oh, thank you for
letting me say my piece. Shoutout to Doing Staley and the game Cocks
for winning a great game back andforth. They started out slow, so
(34:09):
it was a great game. Itwas a great tournament. Big up the
Caitlyn Clark like an amazing player whoLike what I love most about her game
is that she always show up.Like I love those types of players who
(34:31):
in the toughest of the tough theythey there. I love that. And
you know what, I was talkingto somebody about Dawn's career. Man,
when you think about what Dawn Staleyhas accomplished, she might go down at
one of having the most amazing successfulathletic careers of any athlete. Because when
(34:54):
you think about that, she wasan amazing college player, she won as
a professional player, she's in theOlympics. She she's also coached won multiple
championships and might go down as oneof the best coaches ever. And she
was on the episode of Mark andshe was on the episode of The Martin
(35:17):
shout out to Daunte. But allin all, man, I thought it
was a great, great, greattournament. And for all those who just
catching up to appreciate women's basketball,I'm not say I told you so,
just you know who's not catching upand refuses to who's that cave man?
(35:43):
He still refuses to but wow, wow, who talked about him? Still,
well, we ain't we ain't converted. Everybody a parents, But welcome
to all those who appreciate this amazinggame. Because what college basketball has women's
(36:06):
college basketball compared to men's is theyhave a plethora of stars. And in
the men's college basketball, because thosestars leave so early, you don't get
to see this bubbling of stars likewe have in women's college basketball. Some
are leaving, but there's multiple freshmenstars that are about to take over the
(36:30):
game. Yeah. That was onepoint last week talking to Pool, is
you don't get an attachment to themen's game anymore because unless you move for
the jersey, right right, Butyou know, you know, you see
rivalries built anymore, development of players, and it's it's weird now in men's
(36:52):
basketball that the player of the yearmay not be a lot of mm hmm.
And last year the Natesmith Player ofthe Year was undrafted. So I
mean two years ago it was undrafted. And so the guy who's the Nasmith
(37:12):
Player of the Year the last twoyears, Zach Edie a lottery So what
does that say. It's just rightbecause and and it hurts public perception because
what do we think, Oh,this guy stayed all four years. He
must be trashed. He couldn't evenmake it in me and it's after his
restman year. So yeah, Iappreciate the women's game for that is you
(37:37):
get to see these rivalries and he'she's bubbling stars. Like you said,
you get to see players developed, you get to see coaches like Dawn Bill
programs. It's fun to watch becausewhen she first gets to South Carolina,
(37:58):
they're nobody, they're not winning, there's no one coming to the games.
And for her to develop this productthrough and shout out the Asia Wilson.
Yeah, because I can remember ustalking about her on the Defile life.
I can't remember who. I don'tknow if it was Pool, what was
the brother that was a basketball coachthat was Yosh would bring her up in
(38:22):
her magnificence, her magnificence way backthen. Shout out to Yosh, but
shout out to Dawnsdale again. Justa big fan and so that's what I
was rooting for and have been aGame Parks fan because I've been a Dawn
Stalely fan and just continue to followher career and watch her excel at what
(38:43):
she does and does it the rightway. Like that to me is when
you listen to her as she doesher interviews, when you listen to her
on the press conferences, as wellas when I see her on the court.
Me being a coach watching a coach, I'm just like, yo,
you're the bar. Like that's whatI'm trying to aspire to be. Be
(39:05):
as good as the coach is doing. Staley. Yeah awesome, Yeah,
three three rings and captain yes andcounting. Get ready no, no,
because even on that squad in thatgame, you saw some of her freshman's
show up and like lead the teamto victory. They got another three top
(39:30):
recruits coming in next year. Sobut like she said, if you if
you, if you're looking to winplay the year, don't come here,
want to win national championships. Cometo me. We're going to do that,
tell to me. Yeah, yeah, so I was. I was
following it from the beginning in termsof this tournament and multiple really good games.
(39:51):
Got to watch a couple with mydaughter and so yeah, looking forward
and wife because Gina even you know, got a little did this tournament season
and I think so that shout outto Kaitlyn Clark again because what she has
done is brought in some of thecasual more casual fans wonder what's this Kaitlyn
(40:12):
Clark all about and watching the gamein the process of watching the game,
appreciating it for its excellence. Yeah, do you think her I'm gonna say
she got exposed, but her limitationskind of was shown as far as ball
handling, getting back on deft effortsa lot of times. But because she's
(40:36):
you know, she's such a theyasked so much from the offense. That's
just how that team is built. But you know, she got a little
lazy with her ball handling. TheRaven Johnson, you know, put the
clamp shown in a lot a lotof instance. Do you think that poses
some concern on the next level.I think it's going to force her to
(41:00):
continue to evolve and get better. And I think it also suggests that she's
gonna need to have good players aroundher in the league right but that she
could still be an excellent player.Like a woman that I think of in
the NBA right now is Saprina Anescue, and she plays for the Liberty,
(41:22):
which is, you know, onNew York teams, So you know I'm
watching just because they're from New York. Got me a chance to watch her
game, and I've known her fromcollege. Can't say I watched a lot
of her in college. But mypoint is there are games where she is
physically dominated into where if you geta taller, quicker guard on her,
they can give her problems. TheAces tend to have that type of player
(41:49):
and will give her problem. Butwith the player that they got, Breonna
Stewart, who's one of the bestin the league, it allows her to
give some of that responsibility the player, and you can she still is now
you can see how great of aplayer Sabrina Nescue is my point is Caitlyn
Clark might need to be might needto have that type of player along with
(42:12):
her to take some of the pressuredefensive pressure off of Yeah, and which
might work out just that way ifshe's the first overall pick because she's they
ended up playing with Leah Boston.Hello, I've already said watch out for
(42:32):
the Indiana squad. Give them, give them three years, give them some
time. Right, That's what Iwith the young players. I'm always give
them some time, let them develop. But by the time two or three
years come around, watch I thinkthey want to Yeah, absolutely because her
(42:54):
shooting range. Yeah, it's goingto open up so much. Oh shooting
right, just crazy. So here, I want to get your thoughts on
this. So I was reading LynetteWoodard. I think, Okay, who
is an amazing player from the eighties, who was one of the women that
(43:17):
Caitlyn Clark wrote her record. Yeah, Lynette's like, no disrespect to Caitlyn.
But one I shot with a men'sbasketball, right, which I did.
I didn't know that either. Ididn't know that either. Two I
have three point shots, right. So I'm just saying what I did is
(43:40):
not what she did, and whatshe did is not what I did.
That's kind of what the point was. Like, Hm, I ain't know
all of that. It is somethingto think about, which is why I've
grown to hate comparing errors me too, because me too, I get point
that Waters right, I get inthat Water's point because she's right. I
(44:06):
mean, there was no three pointline she played with her. But that's,
for one, that's not Caden Claus'sfault. No, not at all,
No disrespect cat right. But onthe other hand, Kaitlyn Clark could
say, yeah, but you didn'tplay against the talent pool that I'm playing
against. Amen, Amen, goodpoint. So they're not as deep as
a talent pool, definitely, Ithink as good as South Carolina is right
(44:30):
now. I don't think we'll eversee the days where the dominance of a
Louisiana tach program, Tennessee or Yukon. I don't think we'll ever see that
again. The talent pool is sodeep, man, and that water when
you see when you see South Carolinadominating in this era, I agree,
(44:52):
the talent pool is way better thanforty years ago. That be said my
girl, my woman, my coach. Because I don't want to offend nobody.
Staley, I hope she does. You know how right she is man
(45:13):
to the point where I had tofeel about this, but you know,
to the point where somebody was like, coach cal left Kentucky when they call
up down state. Mm hmmm, please don't go, right, please don't
go. But it's good to seethat she's making such an impact that people
(45:35):
are like gender, what does thatmatter? You know, if she can
coach, she can coach, andthe other I appreciate you that your point
as well, the other point thatI've heard people mentioned in this era of
why should she have to go tothe men league? So I said,
I don't know why to feel aboutit, right, I need to go
(46:00):
like I could coach you. No, no disrespect, but I'm dominating here
exactly. And and that's and it'sand it's good to dominate. It's it's
no, it's not a different levelthan I moved, correct, correct,
which I honestly ten years ago Imight have looked at it as a different
level, like just I appreciate it. I thought, I'm like, oh,
(46:22):
you're right, right, do yourthing doing where you at, which
is the word that it was.The Caitlin Clark being offered five million dollars
to come play with ice. Hthat I heard someone express that opinion,
like why would she go there forwhat? Right? Like, yeah,
(46:45):
you're not You're not proven nothing byplaying with some men on a three and
three like right, and no stepup? Who said that? Right?
And I think although it is it'sbasketball, mm hmm, but like I
don't the different sports. H yeah, So you know, I wish people
(47:13):
could understand that that you're watching twodifferent sports, stop comparing, to stop
trying to cross them over and makewomen prove something by playing with like nah,
like come on, man, likewe're still doing this. Apparently we
are, so you know, golet her and then really like five mil
(47:35):
to go play in the Big Three. I get it. You know it's
a business. But okay, Linklockain't hurt for money, man, right,
not these days? Not these days. So if she is somebody not
looking at the Caitlin Clark because shewas, she made people so much Bunnie
this year, right, I hopeshe did cash in something that money,
(48:00):
because they made a lot of moneyoff of her. I'll tell you that
they did. And I mean sothe Gatorade commercial, a couple others,
like she didn't change her mm hmm. That's why you know, I'm I
appreciate that the w n b A, the w n b A season starts
in a month, right, andthen draft is next week. Let's keep
(48:23):
me going. Let's see how youlook in the pro right now. We
ain't gotta wait no all season. We get to see what she looks like
right now. And I'm sure theveterans are going on, all right,
let's see what you got, rookie, Let's see what you got. I
mean, as much as it's notfeasible and I ain't comparing it to but
(48:45):
damn if the NFL draft was liketwo weeks after college college football season,
yeah uh, I'll be in heaven. I can't imagine how lit that will
be. To be like right afterthe national championship we have a draft.
(49:05):
And it's interesting because it's like theirapproach is you just watched them the whole
season. What else you need tosee? Yeah? Right, we've just
seen a whole tournament full of themplaying. Let's go right, let's keep
it moving draft, let's go next. Ain't know all of that combine workouty
no, no, no, no, no, let's go yeah. Man,
