night was Javon Evans versus Josh Briggs and a singles
match the night prior, uh, Jevon Evans actually appeared on

Ain's open challenge for the United States title, and he
did a really good job. It was a really good match,
and the main roster crowds seem to really be into
They seemed to be really into Evans. And then he
also appeared on Impact or Not Not Impact Victory Road

I'm Sorry, where he answered another challenge, this time Leon
Slater for the TNA ext Division title, which is gonna
be bound for glory. So he's been busy getting his
face and his name out there.

So but gonna be fucking insane when it happens. If
you like the flippery dudas and just insane athleticism, that
one's gonna be for you.

First match in the car Javon Evans versus Josh Briggs.

I mean, this is this is a nice opener. I like,
I think it's Briggs. I know RJ isn't too high
on Briggs, but I mean you even put on Twitter
that you thought Briggs was a lot more bearable in
this match, you know, than you know what you usually
see from him.

Uh, I'm going to say this about Josh Briggs. Josh
Briggs is a good worker for a big man and
everything like that, right, But he, like a lot of
other people that they see him high on, that's a
big man, right, He's just boring. There's nothing else to him.

what the fans think. There's nothing new, genius or brilliant
about it. And he's just he's just there. He's just

an MLW watcher, there was another big, generic guy who's

went away a couple of years ago and he came
back with a mask, with a whole new gimmick, and
now he's the MLW World Heavyweight Champion. That man's name
is MATG.

And yeah, and I just state that Briggs might need
to go down that route, might need to come up
with a character, might need to come up, maybe wear
a mask, do something, because what he's doing right.

When the bell rings, Yeah he's good, but there's nothing
else to him. He's not special. He doesn't cut of
promo that special. He doesn't get you hyped into anything.
At least Oba has that. Oba has that walk, he
has that aura whatever to him. And I mean, if
you look at other big guys in wrestling, like war
Little Hobbs, you look at those guys, you just want

to root for them and stuff like that, Josh Briggs
doesn't have that. To me, he doesn't have that quality.
And I just think that he needs something extra on
that bone. Wearing leather pants and a big vest with
somebody's skull on it. That looks cool, I guess on paper,
but like, that's not a personality.

He just doesn't. When Vader had the stupid giant mask
with smoke coming out of it and it looks less
cool thirty years later on his shoulder.

Yeah, I don't get the whole smoking skull thing on
his shoulder. That just that kind of throws me off.

Nothing about Josh Briggs is bad. He can do everything,
but nothing about him stands out, like if he's if
he has a twenty year career, okay, if he's released tomorrow,
and his work in the indies okay. I mean, he
just feels sort of fungible. And I think a real
opportunity was lost a few years back when they brought

JBL back and they paired him with Baron Corbin. But
instead of changing anything about Baron Korman, they had just
had JBL with Baron Corbin. And I thought at the
time it, I mean, you have a guy named JBL
who his character was a rich you know, commodities trader
from Texas. An oil baron, that's what they're called. And

you could have put Baron Corbyn in a cowboy and
to call him oil Baron Corbyn. And at that point
you could have paired him with Josh Briggs, brought them
up and been like a new Blackjacks, kind of like
two big cowboys, and that might have worked with all
of that together. I don't know if it would ever
want of uh, I think Josh Briggs the biggest problem

is it when you look at him, he just looks
like a nice guy. He is a kind face. And
yeah he's too big to be a typical baby face,
but he's got a kind face. So while I wasn't
really thinking about Mad Krueger at the time, a mask
would do a lot to hide the face. War paint
would do a lot. To some sort of eye wear

that he's always wearing would do a lot to hide
the kind face. In any event, he just seems like
he's a gatekeeper now. And again you could move him
up and he could be somebody's heater or bodyguard and
it'd be fine. But you know, after Javan's twenty four
Hours and all the hype with Javon and a few
lost title matches here and there. I mean, there was

no way he was losing this match on this PLI
So while the match was fine and it was fun,
you know, I didn't mind it, but I was sort
of just waiting for a tand.

Yeah, same because I'm not I'm sniding the Brigs.

Not into Briggs, just not and when I'm not into
a rest automatically kind of shut down on it, especially
when that particular wrestlers on offense. Like I kind of
doubled down and just like look at my phone and
pay attention to my phone a little bit. And when
Javon started his comeback and started like bowing up and

slapping him around and tell him, hey, you want this
shit jit, and that's when I started paying attention again.
And you know, of course the finish and everything like
that was very smooth. But other than that, I just
I can't get into Briggs. Man, can't get into Briggs.
That's why I wrote what I wrote on Twitter earlier.
You know, Javon Evans got me to care about him
for at least twenty minutes because he was in the

match against somebody actually like a care about.

So when you went down that road of there's a
big guy who didn't have much of a character, who's
down in MLW. I didn't know who you were talking about,
though you said the Championship, because you could have been
talking about Die Jack. You could have been talking about
Baron Corbyn or Bishop Dyer, and I suppose you could
have been talking about Matt Krueger was a long time ago.
I I didn't even think about him that way. I

think about him just as Mad Scruger, you know.

Yeah, when he was when he was Logan Creed, I
was like, oh my god, who the hell is this guy?

And I mean I liked the original version of Contra better,

you couldn't exactly tell what he was supposed to be,
but it was sort of like a combination of the

At ends with the Evans countering a choke slam into
a cutter and then defeats him with his finisher, So
which was which was impressive nonetheless, but yeah, you're right.
I mean, Evans has had a pretty impressive week, so
there's no way he's just he's going to lose to Briggs,
you know, clean. But again, Evans, I can't say enough

good things about him. The dude has a future. And
it's weird because he started his wrestling career at thirteen.
I didn't know.

five minutes because it was for the I guess the Championship.
I'm not, but I mean the match is fun. I mean,
there really is no other way to describe it. It

was a five minute match, and it's quick, obviously, but
it was it was fun. You kind of suspected what
was going to happen. Lash legend came out, caused a distraction.
I was going after Jada but accidentally hit Zaria, and
then Zaria speared Lash and then Jada in the ring
and got hit with the soul Snatcher one two three,

So Saul is still the speed Champion again. Just really
no other way to describe his match other than that
it was fun. Wasn't like overly offensive. I don't really
think there are any botches so well, actually there was
one trying and then she kind of had to like

maneuver it into a pin.

thought it was going to be a TNA woman who
was going to answer the call, So I was surprised
with with Jade, I see, I figured the whole thing
was going to be was going to tie into either
one of two things. Either Zaria is like, you've got

two titles, I've got none. We're supposed to be focused
on those those tag team titles, and here you are
show voting or Charlotte and Alexa, we're going to be
in there. And inadvertently, Zaria, would you know clock you
know soul Rucas they've done a million times before, and uh,
you know Laney Read or whomever would would get the title. Instead,

they just did a you know, a typical whatever and
kept the last legend Dada Parker feud going, which was fine,
and kept the title in soul Ruka, which is also fine. Yeah,
I don't mind, but you know, the the whole Laney
read thing felt a little bit ache all along, and

apparently at some point this week her her picture was
moved to the main roster. So I guess she got
a raise, which it's pretty fast. I don't know. She
sort of reminds me of j D McDonough in that
she's her timing is good, She's always in the right place,
so you know, she definitely knows how to wrestle. They
obviously have a lot of faith in her very quickly.

But she has a character. I mean, it's it's you know,
and you know, it's it feels more normal on her
than it ever did on Lacy Evans, So I'll give
her that. And Lacy Evans has a lot of other
advantages over her, but this feels more natural. I don't know.

I guess. Speaking of TNA, A Jordan won the TNA
Knockouts Championship after Ashby Elegance had to forfeit it due
to assuming injury. She basically in the promo, you know,
real life stuff is caught up, so I can no
longer be the Knockouts champion. Pregnant word on what that is? Yeh,

she's pregnant.

I was saying, could she could she be pregnant, because
she didn't necessarily say she was injured.

I mean, it could be anything. I mean, it could
literally be anything. I mean, we've had we have had
a rash of pregnancies with on women with titles recently,
but have not. We have no idea what it is,
and I'm sure it'll I'm sure it'll filter out soon enough.

because she, you know, she had been waiting a long time.
She went through a little bit of hardship and kind
of reinvented herself sorta, not really, but sorta.

I give her credit. I give her credit. She she

for keep on going. She went over to TNA and
just me trying to make strides to get better and
to do whatever she can to make sure she's being
seen and heard. So I got to give her credit
and respect for that.

who's who doesn't watch DNA, or even if you do,
the person who holds that entire act together and makes
it interesting is George Iceman.

competent wrestlers could have could have the same success if

TV contract pretty sure, EMLW is going to get a
TV contract pretty short. TNA is going to get a

she appeared during this invasion angle. Yeah, you're going to
be seeing a lot of venexed talents that at least

I've always liked her. I'm kind of glad she's being
put into this spot. I don't really have.

I just wish they would have given it to a

like what a year and some change run with the
NX ten Women's North American Championship, Like Jada and Lola
need to be builted. They needed to be builted quickly,
both of them. They're way too good at what they
do right now to not be champion right now, you know, hopefully.

it's not a complete insult to TNA. And you know,
I I think that Lola Vice's future belts are in

really do like her entrance, and the song is starting
to girl me a little bit. Yeah, this is a fun.

Oh yeah, it's it's it's basically, you know, we can't
afford Sabrina Carpenters, so we had to find the other
equivalent to it. But but no, this is a fun match.
The crowd seemed to be into it. It was, you know,
weapons and you have two women who know what they're doing.
I think Blake is starting to kind of it's weird

to say this because she's been around for a while,
but it seems like she's grown more comfortable in a
role on the show, and the fans are starting to
take to her a lot.

Like when you see her, you think Blake run Monro. No,
you don't think Maryana anymore? Yeah?

Oh no, what? But like, I think the fans are
starting to take to her a lot more because I
don't really think maybe knew how to understand her when
she came in, but she's growing.

She was only in the States for like what a
year in a w because why people think she was

in Japan for most of the time too, So maybe
it's another thing of getting it getting used to an
American audience as well, because Japanese people, they'll eat shit
up in a heartbeat. You can do anything stupid and like,
they'll eat that shit up. But in America, you know,
you gotta work a little bit harder to get you know,

So I'm thinking that's another factor as well.

But continue, I also think she's believable in a role,
like when she comes out and she's the badass, or
when she got that promo saying, you know, I can

you're someone who didn't really follow her career. And I'll
be honest, I wasn't too familiar with her career. I
saw a little bit of her stuff in aw Justin

can probably back that up more than I can. You know, RJ,
you probably can. Jeff, maybe you can. Yeah. But for
somebody that caes hear talking, it sounds legit, like she
sounds like she knows what she's talking about. She's not
just playing a role and Jordan's good. Like, there's really
nothing else I can say. But there was a bit
in the match where where Blake ties Jordan's hands to

the ropes with a hair drard cord and cuts her hair, which.

Good, atrocious Jordan, Grace gotta stop with that hair. That
is awful. That hair do is awful. Doesn't do her
any favorites. I guess it's a tribute to Luna, but
it's like Luna rocked that shit a whole lot more
better than you did, Sweetheart, stop bad.

Agreed. I did think. I didn't think the match went
on maybe a few minutes too long towards the end,
but there was a nice spot, you know, with an
air raid crash to the table and Grace got the win.
So I'm I'm gonna guess maybe a third match. It's
gonna happen the matches last woman standing. But but what'd

Jeff, I don't really buy Blake and Rowe in the
hardcore mat so this seems strange. It seems like she's
someone who should have a heater that's in the hardcore match.
I'd like some of the spots I thought The match
was fine, but I have to be frank with you,
when Jordan Grace came out in all white or hardcore

weaponized in a steel cage match and there was no
blood during this match, that just left me feeling hollow,
because what you don't wear white, you don't advertise this
kind of match, you don't have blood in the story,
you don't cut somebody's hair, have a steel cage. And
they never used the baseball bat, the most impactful weapon

in the whole thing. Nobody used the baseball But I mean,
so listen, the match was fine, but it felt like
a very controlled WWE hardcore match, which the most part
don't really feel like hardcore matches, you know, every like.
There were a couple where where Mischin did some I
think which he was still me a yim in NXT

they went pretty well, and I enjoyed the one with
Russev and Seamus, but honestly, most of those Chile Lee matches,
what is called Donnybrook matches, most of those when it
was like a fight night and with Rich Holland and
Pete Dunn, and I thought most of those stunk, and
this one didn't stink. It was fine. I was never bored.

But it could have just been a regular match. If
they were just going to have Blake lose, I mean,
it should have been something weird where Jordan lost, because
I mean, Blake is the one that's the star, unless
they're planning to have Jordan have a four or five
month run with the NXT Women's title and she goes

to the Royal Rumble and you know, with the NXT title,
doesn't win, and of course and then loses shortly after,
and then there's you know, been on the main roster.
But it didn't make any sense to me. I don't
understand why you're pushing Jordan over Blake. I mean, the
obvious thing is for Jordan to win this match because

she's bigger and stronger, more experienced, and there's weapons. So
the whole point is that is that the sneaky Cannovy
and heels should somehow win and Jordan should have blood
all over wearing all white. So, like the whole story
I concocted in my head before this match and when
it showed up was entirely different than played out. So
you know, maybe it was just my expectations were all wrong,

But I don't know this match just felt it was
just okay for me.

about the match and match yourself. I thought got better
towards the end evening. It was a little slow. I
can't really say if it was on either girl. I

either girl. Maybe that was by proxy, but it was

were trying to get into it, but they got more
into it towards the end. She went fellon, got involved
and pulled the referee out and she got thrown out
and that's when the pace started picking a bit more
and I was getting into it. I was like, Okay,
here we go, here we go. The minute that Lola
hit her finisher, and all of a sudden, she does

the whole I hit my finisher. That was too much
power from meious, It's like, ah, here we go. And
while the ref wasn't looking mysterious good, then you go
ahead time no finish, I insist, Okay.

Well, I mean she did her finish her but her
momentum was going in the other way, so like they
weren't positioned correctly for her for her own finisher's momentum
to carry her like she should have been. I don't
know if if she hit JC on the north and

looked really artificial. Aside from that, I actually thought the

we're into the finals. We're into the playoffs now and
we'll take it to the end and then we're going
to do one retrospective with an actual wrestling fans. Also
a psychologist who's gonna do some analyze some of our
dime store psychology and what she thinks of the jobs

and it's not everywhere. It's not an Apple. I know

him because he's the guy who pulled Roger Jackson off

that did a damn thing. So we talked to him
about food and stuff, and then some of my other
shows are just dropped. The show with John White from
Craignford on Dragons and Serpents and uh other fun stuff.
We're also working on limited series on the show Dark,

which was on Netflix, and it's sort of like a
time travel kind of show that people were begging me
to watch. And we're going to do three shows, doing
seasons one, two, and three each per episode, and we've
recorded two three of them so far, so that's plenty.
But it's all on Guarden of Thought, it's all free,
it's on every podcast platform that you could possibly imagine.
