Now you're your host. You guyshave been broadcasting online Godfathers Podcasting himself
Donnie des that thanks. Yes,yes, yes, ladies and gentlemen,
(00:46):
we are back. We are theGodfathers. And like the lady said,
my name is Donnie and the mannext to me, well, he is
the Ricky Morton to my Robert Gibson. He's the Greg Valentine to my Brutus
Beefcake. He is the Sean Michaelsto my Marty Jeanetti. That is notorious
Tid Chris did well what wow?Is it because of the broken back thing
(01:12):
looking back from carrying me for thelast twenty five years. In case you're
not getting all the wrestling references,it's because this is going to be a
very wrestling heavy episode this week onthe Godfathers of Podcasting. Because it's wrestle
Mania Weekend TD, not just WrestleManiais on the weekend, the and Ere
(01:34):
Weekend is WrestleMania and WrestleMania accoutrement andevents, and so we are going to
deep dive on that this week. And we figured, you know, why
not, let's just have some fun. It's not something we ever do,
and why the hell not? Right? I mean, are there rules?
Are there rules to any of thisstuff that we do, Donnie, so
(01:57):
we might as well. If there'sno rules, then I say, we
have fun. If there's rules,we break the rules and have fun.
Even when we used to work ona network that had rules, did we
obey any of the rules? No? I got fired. I remember so
many times back in the early days, in the wild West days of the
(02:21):
internet, when Tit and I firststarted doing this stuff and we would just
be on the air talking shit, and the station owner would run down the
stairs into the studio be like,Hey, how do I know. I
don't come from the same world thatall y'all came from. Y'all y'all came
(02:42):
from like this world of like youwent to school and you learned how to
do it. I'm just a dumbass with a big mouth who says stuff.
So until I hear you can't saythat, I'm will say it literally,
I've learned. I've learned. I'velearned a lot of things that you
can't say. This sounds like aninappropriate euphemism, but I literally just found
(03:02):
Tid on a street corner. Likethat's not even a joke. Literally found
him on a street corner. Imean I wasn't lost, sure, No,
he was standing outside of a nightclubbeing the big heavy. I was
eating out of people, Milking peoplefor money is what I was doing,
Rustling like a motherfucker marking. Ohmy god, it was the best I
(03:27):
got it. I know I've toldthis story before, but for anyone who's
new, let me just recap realquick. My favorite thing ever is being
a young nineteen year old standing nextto Tidd and we're working outside the hottest
nightclub in Toronto and there's a line. Okay, the line is two and
a half three hours at any giventime, right because the owners were dicks
(03:49):
and they made us hold the line. They wanted a big line at all
times, so there's always a hugeline. And then people would start coming
up to Tim like, hey, bro, what's it gonna take for me
to skip this line? And He'slike, it's not gonna take anything.
You're gonna go back in line. And then the guy'd be like, well,
how about twenty bucks a person. He's like, how about you go
(04:10):
fuck yourself? How about forty bucksa person? You just got in,
Yeah, you still got to paythe cover charge. Let's just get you.
That's just to get you to thefront of the line, bro.
And the best, the best ison New Year's Eve, people standing on
this tree in a two hour lineat eleven forty five. You know you
(04:33):
want to be inside for New Yearfor midnight. So now the money starts
flying. Well, so remember rememberthey would try to tell us that you
couldn't you couldn't charge right, Andit was tickets only to get in,
so you had to have a ticketto get into the place. So we
had people that would show up andthey'd have their tickets and they weren't going
(04:55):
to go. So I'd be like, I'm gonna buy your ticket. What
can't I sell it back to theclub. I'm the club. I'll buy
your ticket. Boom, and thenI would resell them right in front of
the club doors for double what.I'm ticketmaster. There you go. You
were the ticketmaster. You were stubHub before stub Hub you know who's making
(05:18):
a killing this week. You knowwho's making a killing this week is places
like Ticketmaster in stub Hub because listen, you said it in the beginning,
WrestleMania forty from Philadelphia, the Cityof Brotherly Love. And it's been going
on though. So WrestleMania officially startsSaturday, but it's been going on since
(05:42):
I don't know, a month anda half ago. I said it over
on The Law Livebody of Wrestling onthat show. I said it earlier when
we did a thing I said,I don't know what is longer WrestleMania a
week or a white girl's birthday month? Know what I mean? You know
what? That's a funny game. What's longer than wrestle Mania weekend, white
(06:05):
girl's birthday months? Uh? Indianwedding right, I'm into a few Indian
weddings, man. The one that'sstill going on is good though, Oh
goodness best? Yeah, so good. I'm doing a quick search because now
(06:27):
I'm curious. I'm looking on stubHub to see if there are WrestleMania tickets
available and what they're going for.Oh, I can't imagine. Oh,
okay, where are we talking about? Are we talking about on floors?
Are we talking about on floors?Give me give me a give me an
area, give me an area ofwhere where it could be, and I'll
try to guess the price. Sofloors, it says section F fifteen.
(06:55):
So you're about it looks like, based on this photo, you're at least
one hundred and fifty two hundred feetaway from the ring. But you're on
the floor, so you're gonna puta lot of heads in front of you.
All right, all right, it'snot a great view, but you
are on the floor. Okay, all right? Two tickets fourteen thousand each.
(07:17):
No, no, it's not thatcrazy. But it's nine thousand,
two hundred for the pairh that's lessthan five grand. You spend that on
a trip to change. Yeah,whatever, it's insane. Bro. I
used to go to Mapleaf Gardens andsit ringside for twenty bucks. You know
(07:39):
what we'll ask We'll ask the guestswhat's the most paid for a ticket to
go see a show? Absolutely?Do you remember Before we get to the
guest, let me ask you this. Do you remember the last time you
actually paid money for a wrestling show? And how much you paid? Oh,
I'm sure it's been a while.Ooh ooh, I don't think I've
(08:03):
paid for a ticket since maybe ninetyfive. Ooh yeah, bro, because
early nineties. It would have beenearly nineties. Yeah, no, no,
wild right, that's insane and ctI should not remember those things anyways,
(08:26):
So I don't know. You've beenhitting the head a lot. Yeah,
get rid of those thoughts, makeroom for new ones. Have you
seen that uber that uber eats commercialwhere they do exactly that. They're like,
every time you remember something new,you have to forget something that is
that funny? Wasn't that a superBowl commercial or something? Yes? Yes,
(08:46):
there's so many different versions of it. One with David Beckham and Posh,
and there's one with Jennifer Aniston andShwimmer, and there's one with Jelly
Roll. It's watching Money. It'smy favorite commercial right now. Right,
ladies and gentlemen, withover further ado, let's get to this week's guest.
It is time for the big Hello. This week's guest he is a guy
who just loves to pod Back intwenty fourteen, he launched his first website
(09:11):
called Comics I Read, where hewould just you know, review comics and
that spawned the birth of his firstpodcast and a brand new passion. In
twenty twenty, he helped launch anew show on a network that we've been
affiliated with for quite some time,SNM. He eventually worked his way up
to taking over the hosting duties ofthe flagship show, where he talks wrestling
and everything that he loves and hatesabout it. That show can be heard
(09:31):
every week on TSN and iHeartRadio. This week is basically Christmas for him.
And as we're coming up fast toWrestleMania Weekend, ladies and gentlemen, here's
the host of Sunday Night's main event. This is Boris Roberto Aguilar. How
are you. I'm doing great, gents, how are you guys? Well,
(09:52):
we are doing just lovely. Andit's like we said, it's WrestleMania
Weekend. So for anyone who's everbeen tangential a part of the wrestling industry,
for anyone who has ever been evena casual fan, this is a
big This is a big week.Yeah, it's a big one. It's
a big one. It feels likeit's really the first day, you know,
(10:13):
all the afternoon shows have started andI already feel tired, just from
like people messaging me getting if you'realready feeling tired. Actually, it's funny
that you should even say that.Yeah, yeah, it's a thing.
It's a thing. No, Butlike realistically, it's it's been a crazy
day already, and just thinking aheadof the weekend, everything that's happening,
(10:35):
And you know, you said itat the top, it's more than just
WWE. It's kind of like acollection of everything to do with wrestling launching
in Philadelphia right now, the amountof companies running shows, you know you
want to be in Philly this weekend. I spoke to I'm not exaggerating when
(10:56):
I say this. I spoke tono less than twenty five thirty people in
and around the wrestling industry this week. Former ww employees, people that have
worked for the other major promotions, people that are big names on the independence
scene, and I'm like, hey, how's it going, Like, oh,
(11:18):
I'm on my way to Philly.Like really, like everyone's going to
Philly. Everyone's going. There's like, like you said, there's a whole
bunch of indie independent shows that areall working in and around WrestleMania festivities.
People like, hey, hey, fans, you're already here, you got
nothing to do on Thursday night,Come watch an indie wrestling show. So
(11:41):
there's stuff that's going on NonStop. It's crazy because you know, as you
mentioned, the fortieth installment of thismajor event, and when it started,
it was just a big show thatpeople could purchase to watch, and no
one knew if it was going towork. And now it's this thing.
It started to evolve right around Ithink WrestleMania sixteen seventeen somewhere in there when
(12:07):
they started doing the Fan Access eventright before WrestleMania, which is like a
big convention type thing. That wasa big deal, right that was extending
the the WrestleMania weekend. Then theystarted adding in the Hall of Fame ceremonies,
and then they added a second nightof WrestleMania, and now they have
(12:28):
the NXT pay per view that ispart of the same week It's like,
holy shit. Like, if you'rea dude or a lady that's in a
relationship with someone who doesn't like wrestling, they may break up with you this
weekend. Yeah, this is thisreally puts a lot of relationships to the
test, just because you're focus oneverything that is WrestleMania if you have anything
(12:50):
to do with the industry in regardsto whether it be even reporting or anything,
your focus is in Philadelphia right now. So the format tonight, and
I say this to the listener, this is going to be less of an
interview with Boris like what we normallydo, and this is just going to
be the three of us talking aboutthe whole weekend of events and giving our
(13:11):
two cents. So let me startoff going to Tidd because the first Chiefs
of the WrestleMania Weekend happens tomorrow nighton TV when the Hall of Fame kicks
off. We have Paul Hayman,Bull Nakano, maybe the greatest boxer of
(13:31):
all time, Muhammad Ali, LeahMayavilla, Thunderbolt, Patterson, and Wyndham
and Rotunda but not Wyndham Rotunda allbeing inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Who are you the most excited tohear from Tidd in their Hall of Fame
speech? Paul Hayman. Paul Haymenfor the plain and simple fact that he's
(13:54):
I mean, he's going to bethe best talker. It's going to be
the greatest thing. If you talkabout where it should take place, there's
no better place than Philadelphia for PaulHayman. I mean, that's where the
entire industry changed, was Paul HaymanPhiladelphia ACW Shane Douglas. That promo sparked
(14:16):
everything, right, So for PaulHayman to get his flowers in Philadelphia,
Yeah, that's the one I'm mostexcited about because I go back to those
Pauly Dangerously days. I go backto those you know, those those pictures
with that big Zach Morris telephone, you know what I mean. So I've
(14:37):
watched him grow to when he hadhair, then he lost hair, then
he got rid of all of hishair, like I've watched it over the
years. Yes, I'm dating myself, right, but I've seen all of
that. Now outside of that,Wyndham and Rotundo, that's going to turn
into a tear jerker, you knowit is because because of Windom Rotunda.
(15:03):
Right, So, Wyndom and Rotundawill be a tear jerker because of Windom
Rotunda. For anyone who's not inthe know, Windom Rotunda is the real
name of professional wrestler Bray Wyatt, who passed away last year at a very
young age, and Mike Rotunda washis father, Wyndham Bury Windham was his
(15:24):
uncle, and dad named him afterhis best friend. His brother in law
Well named him after his work nameand called him Wyndham. And I thought
that was just the coolest, thecoolest name I've ever heard in my life.
(15:45):
If you could do that, ifyou could do that with your kid.
Let's say you have another child, either one of you, right,
you have another child coming on theway, and you have free reign,
but you have to pick two wrestlersthat go together, a name that will
go together, and that's your child'sname. Who do you sent the last
name? Just your last name. You can't just give yourself a new last
(16:07):
name. What your last name is? Just your last name. Absolutely you
can. There's what middle names arefor, like your middle name. Duh.
So I think if I had anotherson, it would be Tidwell sucks
to Silva. Wow. Wow,I mean, I mean, I'm not
the one that has to live withthat name. Fuck do I care?
(16:36):
It just tells people you're a badparent. Was zero creativity. Going back
to the Paul Haven thing though, when you say you know how far he's
come, I remember you and Idid graveling down to see live ECW shows
back in the day when they werestruggling to get attendance where they had no
(16:56):
media, right, we would showup and we are the press. And
Paul Hayman at that time was sopersona non grata with WWE. We used
to hear stories from guys in thelocker room about how no one in WW
would even return a call to himor anything. And and now look how
(17:18):
far this guy has come. Yeah, it's wild boris who are you most
excited to see in there? It'sPaulman. Paul Hayman as well. Like
you know, I remember not evenbeing a teenager with my older brother driving
town to Buffalo to the Bert FlickingerCenter to watch ECW. You know,
that was just some of the bestmemories of my early teen years and before
(17:41):
I was like eleven years old doingthis with him. And you know,
actually, I'm pretty sure I raninto you guys at some point. I
like I do remember like like meetingand thinking, oh, aren't those the
guys from the law like way backway early in the day anyways, But
yeah, honestly it's for me,it's it's Hayman's That's someone who you know,
I absolutely respect in the wrestling business, just the way that he talks,
(18:03):
and the fact that you know,he even said he's not really preparing
a speech. He's just gonna wingit. He's going to see what the
atmosphere is like and he's going totake it from there. And that just
goes to show you how great ofa talker he is, how comfortable of
a talker he is. And youknow that the speech is going to be
epic regardless. Yeah, that's bullshit. I'm gonna call bullshit. I'm calling
(18:25):
bullshit on that. There's going tobe some prepared shit from Peah. I'm
sure there will be, but onehundred percent, and it's going to be
so well written that none of usare even going to know the difference.
Yeah, I agree, And Ithink actually the induction speech from Roman introducing
him is probably going to be alot better than people are expecting. He's
an eloquent son of a bitch,so I'm curious to see how he sets
(18:48):
it up. But two people Iwould have loved to have actually seen there,
but unfortunately they are both posthumous inductionsis, of course the great one,
Muhammad Ali and Leami. A lotof people are not happy with the
leamiv induction because they're equating it toDwayne the Rock Johnson. He returns to
WWE, he gets a seat onthe Board of Directors and then snaps his
(19:10):
finger and his grandmother is in theHall of Fame. Let's not forget that
she earned her spot there and probablyshould have already been in, and people
go when she wasn't in the WWE. But the WWE Hall of Fame has
extended past WWE borders. It hasreally become almost like the NBA's version of
the Basketball Hall of Fame, whereit's not the NBA Hall of Fame,
(19:32):
it's a basketball Hall of Fame, and the ww will induct whoever they see
fit, and in this case leamIba being the first ever female wrestling promoter
and a person who really helped developa lot of talent that Vince eventually stole.
And you know, there's a storythere that is actually fascinating. You
(19:52):
talk about a woman that fought theFBI and lost, and then fought the
FBI again and one coincidentally, shewon when The Rock was a big star.
I don't know if that was partof the equation or not, but
just saying, but unfortunately those areposthumous inductions. The other one that I'm
super excited about and did this again. I'm hearkening back a lot to you
(20:18):
and I tonight with our early days. I remember hearing from people back in
the day going on and on andon and on. No matter who was
that would say it, h baby, Dusty Rhodes, He's just a Thunderbolt
Patterson rip off man did We usedto hear that a lot like a lot,
and Thunderbolt Patterson is finally getting hisjust do, being inducted into the
(20:44):
Hall of Fame. I find itbizarre when I see the announcement on ww's
socials and then all these fans like, whoo, whoo, who's this boomer,
like as if Google's not a thing, right, But Thunderbolt Patterson,
A lot of people have long feltthat after Dusty tagged with Thunderbolt Patterson in
(21:07):
the seventies, he just essentially liftedhis entire gimmick and went and did it
on a bigger stage. But ThunderboltPatterson isn't being inducted because of his energetic
cares charisma. He's being inducted ina lot of ways for his efforts as
a builder in professional wrestling and aguy who really fought for rights. He
(21:33):
fought for the rights of the blackperformer, he fought for the rights of
all performers when it came to timeoff and medical benefits and being taken care
of and being able to report, hey, I'm injured without losing bookings.
And it took a long time fora lot of that stuff to catch up.
But he was the one that startedrattling the cages. You know,
(21:57):
obviously a bit of a trail blazerand well ahead of his time. Either
one of you have thoughts on ThunderboltPatterson going into the Hall of Fame.
I'm gonna be one hundred percent honest. I didn't know too much about him
until, like I've heard of him. I knew kind of what he was
known for in terms of, youknow, the union things and the rights
(22:18):
and whatnot. But you know,I used this crazy machine called Google and
I learned a lot about him whenhe was inducted. And you know,
that's a really really cool one.And again kind similar to what you said,
right, this is the rest turninginto the Wrestling Hall of Fame more
than just WWE itself. So yeah, I really do I kind of dig
(22:40):
it. That one's gonna be agood one as well. I think,
I honestly don't think that there's goingto be more than fifteen to twenty percent
of the people who actually knew whoThunderbolt Patterson was before this. Agree been
said, that been said even myself, I had only come across him very
(23:04):
sparsely back in the day, butwe were talking. I go back in
the day because I would watch theSmoky Mountain stuff. I would watch the
Pacific Northwest stuff I was. Ihad the Texas stuff, you know that
it was available to me, theAwa stuff. So I go all the
way back in those territory days. But even then, watch tid watch Frank
(23:26):
gotch versus Abraham Lincoln when he waswhen he was a twenty year old,
that that didn't happen, and gentlemen, that didn't happen. Anyways, go
ahead, go on, I'd go. I'm finishing the point. I was
just trying to get a cheap shotin. Oh did it work? No,
absolutely. So my point is isthat I hope that we get to
(23:52):
see a lot more of these typesof inductions in the future, because what
is happening is you just heard it. Your Boris just said it himself.
Is it forced him to have togo to you know, Google and look
up the history of this one person. And there needs to be more history
told to people because I'll tell youa streak fucking up right now. It
(24:15):
is so aggravating when it's like,oh, who is your favorite wrestler when
you were growing up? I don'tknow, like maybe the Miz. All
right, listen, all due respectto the Miz is a phenomenal talent,
there's no doubt about that. Butif you don't think that wrestling actually existed
(24:40):
before the year two thousand, thenyou need to do your homework. You
need to go out and look upthe people that made it possible, because
everybody has ripped off everybody from thepast. That's the way exactly. Did
I have a question for you nowthat we're talking about, you know,
the history and wanting to see moreinductions like this, is this a sign
(25:04):
of WWE kind of stepping back andlooking at the history of wrestling or do
you think this is just you know, coincidental. No, I think that
this is going to be a moreoften thing than not. I think you're
going to see this actually work itselfinto its own category, you know,
for years to come. Absolutely andhopefully hopefully stuff like this causes a catalyst
(25:30):
or is the catalyst to open upan actual place, an actual I know
they have and they have the ability, and who knows, maybe with this
new ownership and the new direction, you know that they're going to go with
these partnerships because the UFC is verymuch into this stuff, and we're seeing
a lot of places that are tryingto make their museums. Hell. In
(25:52):
Las Vegas alone, there's this placecalled the Punk Rock Museum that is this
massive, massive warehouse that covers thehistory of punk rock music. The wwe
could have something like that and thenkind of like integrate more of the outside
uh wrestling, all the promotions, all the tapes, all the libraries that
they've bought, and start utilizing, you know, and telling the stories of
(26:17):
those people, because otherwise they're theonly ones that have the opportunity to get
this out there. They're the onlyones that have this at their you know,
in their drawer to be able togo whoop woop, put this out.
Hey, have you heard the storyabout this kid? You know,
So it's their responsibility to to actuallyeducate wrestling fans as to the history of
(26:44):
wrestling. A nice thing right nowis I heard from someone who is on
the inside that told me that thisis the first year that Triple H is
the one solely respondsible for choosing whogets inducted into the Hall of Fame.
And he's an old school guy,and he's a student of the game,
(27:08):
and not to you know, turnupon or anything, but I mean,
well, it's his name the game. But I think that it's an interesting
thing because whereas Vince McMahon, theformer owner of the company H and head
of everything in the company, wouldoften not have people inducted because of personal
(27:32):
grudges over the years, for whateverreason, that doesn't seem to be the
case with Triple H. He doesnot care, and he's not a guy
that seems to hold a lot ofpersonal grudges. I mean there's been there's
been people like Cody Rhodes and cmpunkthat he had personal beef with, and
at the first opportunity to bring themback into the fold, he's like,
(27:53):
welcome home, baby, let's makesome money. So I don't think that
those kinds of things are going tobe obstacles anymore. And I think it's
also going to open the doors fora lot of other legacy inductions, maybe
guys like Ivan cole Off, youknow, who probably should be in the
Hall of Fame, you know, and others. So it's going to be
(28:14):
exciting to see. I think thewhole weekend, oh excuse me, the
whole Hall of Fame ceremony is goingto be a lot of fun. It
usually is. Let's move on becauseI want to talk about some of the
other stuff that's happening this weekend.Let's let's talk a little bit about Stand
and Deliver, which is the NXTversion of WrestleMania that's happening on Saturday afternoon.
(28:38):
Some interesting matches on here. Idon't know how closely either one of
you are following NXT right now,For me, the two matches that sell
this pay per view are the TagTeam Championship match and the Big Grudge match,
right the big grudge match being TrickWilliams versus Carmelo Hayes. I called
(29:00):
Hi a month or two ago,and I said, Trick Williams is my
new favorite wrestler. Look at thereaction he's getting on SmackDown. For those
like brief appearances like, man,he's going to be a superstar, and
to think that he was, youknow, the secondary. He was,
you know, second to Carmelo Hayesjust a few months ago. He was
his diesel and people like to saystuff like, oh, he sucks.
(29:25):
He only knows three moves. Idon't care if he doesn't know one which
he's good, he's over, andhe's money. And I like the guy.
I think he's super energetic and relatableand believable. And I think that
match has been built up beautifully,so I'm looking forward to it and the
tag match. I did not thinkthat there was anything that company could do
(29:48):
to make Baron Forbin interesting to me, but they did. Baron Corbin and
Bron Breaker are interesting to me.You know, bron Breaker is a freaking
nature and I think he's going tobe a huge star. But that tag
team is interesting to me. Nowthat all being said, they're probably gonna
lose the titles because Bron is onhis way to bigger things on SmackDown.
But is there anything on this carthat stands out either one of you?
(30:08):
Let's go to boris the tag teammatch? You know, Baron Corbyn,
Braun Breaker, Axiom and Nathan Fraser, right, Nathan Fraser, student of
seth Rawlins, you know, andyou have Axiom, first Spanish born wrestler
who's just done amazing things in NXTUK and NXT Regular. Really looking forward
(30:29):
to that match. In particular matchthat I'm kind of curious about just because
of I never thought that this personwould be a heel. And that's the
women's match, the women's titles match, and that's Lyon Valkyria against Roxanne Perez,
with Roxanne Perez being the bad girlin this match. Right, She's
this person who has this amazing backstoryof being a huge fan since she was
(30:52):
a little girl. They have picturesof her waiting in mind taking pictures with
superstars as a like ten year old, so like her road to becoming a
face and kind of like that sameroad that Bailey had where she was just
this lovable, bubbly person and turningher heel was very very interesting. So
I'm more interested interested in the dynamicsof that match. But both ways can
(31:17):
go, and that's going to bea great match. I think that might
be kind of like that silent matchthat is Match of the Afternoon. The
problem with that match, Lyra andRoxan Is. When I watch the two
of them in the ring together,I feel like I'm a little drunk or
a little high, because I feellike, aesthetically they're so similar looking.
(31:37):
Yeah, I'm like, what's goingon right now? Am I fucking seeing
double? Am I tripping balls?Like? One of them is just a
little bit more ethnic looking and theother one is a little bit more white
looking, but they look like thesame person. Yeah, And honestly,
I need to call out any matchthat Elia Dragonov is in. You know,
it's going to be a great match. He can have a match with
(31:57):
just about anyone and make that otherperson look great. You know, the
matches, the classic matches he hadwith Walter, the classic matches that he
had even with Trick Williams and CarmeloHayes. And now he's gonna go up
against you know, Tony DiAngelo.I think that match is going to be
hard hitting and tons of fun basedsolely on Ilia Dragonov. Is there anything
(32:22):
on that card that you're looking forwardto? Here, here's the thing.
It's not so much the card thatI'm looking forward to the most. And
that been said, I think thatthe Trick Williams match and Carmelo Hayes Is.
I mean, listen, that's afeud. That's a few that you
could carry over onto one of theother shows very easily. Here's what I'm
(32:44):
really looking forward to the most isbecause we know these call ups are happening,
and NXT has delivered every single time. The way that they've been able
to build these guys up right beforethese guys and girls, right before they
get called up to those bigger shows, has been absolutely phenomenal. The problem
(33:05):
is is that there's too many there'stoo many such good players in NXT right
now, and not everybody can getcalled up. Some people have to be
held back, you know what Imean. Like Iliya Dragonov should be doing
a lot more on the bigger shows, Carmelo d should be doing a lot
more on the bigger show. Youknow what I mean. There's a lot
(33:27):
of people that should be doing alot more. The fact that they've got
Baron KORbin down in NXT doing stuff, the fact that they've got the good
brothers down there doing stuff, youknow what I mean, to be these
veteran leaders to help these younger guysget ready so that they can go up
to the big shows. Shows me, shows me that the environment in NXT
(33:50):
is just a little bit different thanit is on any of the other shows,
I think. And they're knocking itout of the park absolutely every single
time. And I find that thisiteration of NXT is such an amazing class
and it's kind of like they don'thave that hooplah of the super independent that
you know, the Adam Coles andthat Jag you know, the end of
the Black and Gold generation of NXThad. This generation of NXT is just
(34:15):
so talented, so much fun,and they're kind of sliding under the radar
a little bit, I think.I think one of the reasons though,
is because you got to remember whenNXT started before, they didn't have the
structure, the class structure that theyhave now with the Performance Center, with
the uh, this is your classtime, this is what's going on.
Everything is very structured and planned outuniversity style, and so you have people
(34:39):
that are really getting indoctrinated into that, into the program, so to speak,
right out the gate, as opposedto before you were still allowing a
lot more of you know, thesethe indie darlings to come over and and
still kind of get their shit inand learn the process as they go.
Now guys and girls got to gothrough the entire process before they're even seen
(35:04):
on TV and the other thing oranyone that's sorry, I was just gonna
say, for anyone that's brand newto NXT, they don't normally watch the
product. They're checking it out forthe first time. Some of those names
that Tit is referencing that are probablygoing to be major players on Raw or
SmackDown over the next year or twothat you might want to keep an eye
(35:25):
out for, aside from the nameswe've already mentioned, like trick And and
Mellow and Ilia aside from those names, and bron Breaker of course, keep
your eye on Joe Gacy, keepyour eye on Oba Femi, who is
getting major praise from the agents downthere. Keep your eye on Die Jack
(35:45):
and even though he makes me cringea little bit in every single match because
he always does something that's a littleindie rific and a little green, Nathan
Fraser has something. He has somethingright. He's an athletic New World spot
monkey, and he has something inhim that people really gravitate to. So
(36:07):
keep your eye and of course, friend of the show Sean Spears will be
on the show and he's just he'sthe quintessential great hand right to listen,
Spears is my boy. I've lovedthat guy for years and years and years,
and I love the fact that he'sback in NXT. Another veteran who
(36:28):
has been down. He's seen multiplerings all around the world now and multiple
big companies, and that's really somethingthat can be utilized, even his hand
in the ring, but his coachingability. Another guy that I'm going to
say it all the time. Idon't care if it happens year after year
until it actually happens. I'm gonnasay, the man who deserves the call
(36:50):
up more than anybody in NXT,my boy, your boy, everybody's boy,
referee Adrian Butler. Get his assup to the big show right away,
all right, make it happy thecoach, shut up, he the
call up, Give him the callup. He's so happy where he is
so happy. I love him everynow and then, every now and then
(37:12):
I see him on SmackDown and andI'll text him and I'll be like,
so, who called in sick?Because he's so happy. He's he's ripping
twelve plus hour days right now. That started earlier in the week I talked
to him, and he couldn't behappier. He's loving the grind and it's
(37:34):
absolutely couldn't happen to a better dude. I was playing WWE two K twenty
four yesterday with my eleven year oldand I'm in the middle of a match
and I'm it's like, if you'veever played the game, you get all
these like achievements that they tell you, Okay, do an Irish whip into
the corner. It's like a fuck, okay, I gotta do an Irish
whip. So I'm trying to Irishwhip Andrea the Giant, and I do,
(37:57):
and he runs into Adrian Butler, the referee, and I get disqualified.
I'm like, fuck Hornet, getout of my way. Sucks bro
terrible ring positioning and you're killing me. All right, let's move on to
wrest media because there's a lot totalk about here. There's two full nights
(38:20):
of matches, and you know,a couple of weeks ago, I started
thinking to myself, two full nightsof matches, they still got a bunch
of names that aren't on either night, and the card is looking a little
light. And then all of asudden, all these extra matches started getting
added in and it became the traditional, Hey, we got to make sure
that our stalwarts that are our loyalsget a WrestleMania payday, and I like
(38:45):
that they do that. So,you know, some of those matches that
recently got added Ray Mysterio and DragonLee representing the l W against Dominic,
Masterio and Santos Escobar. This islike the epitome of the thrown together just
get them on the show match,Like Dominic is not part of Escabar's faction,
(39:08):
but they want Dominic on the show. And you know, they just
sort of tried to kick start hisfeud with Ray again. In the last
couple of weeks, Dragon Lee justgot thrown into the LWO because I guess
Carlito isn't good enough. I don'tknow, Like, I'm not sure why.
I found it weird that they gavehim a WrestleMania spot like this,
(39:31):
But this week on their new showon Twitter, he lost in two minutes
and fifty seven seconds to Ricochet,Like is he good enough for WrestleMania or
is he not good enough for Speed? Which one? Is it? Right?
So I thought that was interesting.Obviously, they just announced the match
Damage Control against the Black Avengers,Biancapelle Air and Jade Cart Gill and Naomi.
(39:53):
I think that's gonna be fantastic,to be honest with you, like
the star Power, and then youknow, they announced a couple of other
matches for Night two, like BobbyLashley in the Street Profits against the Final
Testament, which I think is goingto be exactly what you think it's gonna
be. But on Night one,I'm gonna quickly run down the matches.
(40:15):
You guys, tell me what you'remost jacked up for. Rhea Ripley defending
Means Becky Lynch, Guns versus SammyZaine, Damian Priest and Finn Bower in
that sixth Pack Ladder match for theUndisputed Tag Team Championships, Jay versus Jimmy
Usso. I just mentioned the women'ssix man tag and the LWO versus Dominic
(40:39):
and Santos, and then we havethis huge main event on Night one,
the Rock and Roman Reigns versus Codyand Seth Rowlinds. I think for most
people that main event is a massivedraw because it's like, Oh, what's
the Rock going to look like?In his seventh match in the last twenty
years. But let's remove that onefrom the equation. What else sor you
(41:00):
really jacked about? Really stoked tosee? For me, it's brother versus
brother. It's Jimmy and Jay rightout the I mean, listen, I
couldn't be happier for two dudes becauseyou know that they thought about this when
they were just little kids, youknow what I mean. You're facing off
against one another at WrestleMania, andnow they get a chance to do it.
(41:22):
So it's going to bring out justsomething a little bit extra. I
think, you know, some ofthe stuff is going to mean a little
bit more to these guys. AndI think that this match also story wise,
has a lot more implications to whatcan take place on Night two as
well, right, because you thinkabout it, if it becomes on night
(41:44):
two, if it becomes a bloodlinerules, right, well, then there's
outside interference, and these two arequite open to being able to be part
of that outside interference. Who knows, right, So that's the match that
I'm really excited about for night one. You had to lay down one hundred
bucks, who would you put yourmoney on? Jimmy? Really interesting thing
(42:08):
that seems to be the prevailing sentimentright now is Jimmy Usso going over?
And someone made the comment to me, every fifteen years they have real life
brothers fighting at WrestleMania, and it'salways the heel that wins. It's like
always the heel. Holy small samplesize. That's happened twice. But that
(42:29):
being said, if I had tolay down one hundred bucks on that one,
I would put it on Jay becausethey call him main event Jay USO
and he never wins. The guyneeds a win on a big stage,
like when he beat Nakamora this week. It was the first time he's won
a singles match inver on TV forever, So he needs it. People like
(42:52):
to say, oh, he's alreadyestablished. Jimmy needs it. Jimmy is
Jimmy. He's fine. A heelcan lose Boris. Aside from that match,
what else are you really stoked abouton Night one? Oh man,
that's a great question. I wouldhave to honestly say, Ria Ripley and
Becky Lynch. I'm really looking forwardto that match again. You know,
(43:13):
is Becky Lynch gonna take a vacationafter this? Is she gonna, you
know, get the belt? What'sthe plan with Rhea Ripley. She is
arguably, you know, one ofw's biggest stars period male or female,
one of their biggest stars period. Is she going to continue her title reign?
Like there's a lot of questions whereit's like, who is actually gonna
win this match? And when Ican't go into a match flat out knowing,
(43:36):
you know, as a fan, who's gonna win? That always entices
me a little bit more. Ifeel like that's the case with every title
match on Night one. You don'treally have a sense of who's gonna win.
You could make a case for anyone, right Ria versus Becky? Would
it be weird if Becky didn't win? Not really, because no, Ria
(43:58):
is so hot right now, soyou know, it's crazy to think that
you would not have Becky win atWrestleMania. But Ria Ripley's so hot right
now. Actually that's a really goodpoint. Let's do that. There's three
championship matches on Night one. Givea prediction? Did Ria versus Becky?
You're muted? You're muted. Sorry, there's a zoo going on. Ria
(44:24):
Ripley. It's not time for herto lose the title yet. I think
that she's the face of that divisionright now. Uh, And I think
that I think that Judgment Day isabout due for a shift in some way,
but I think that she maintains herspot. Of course, Ria and
(44:45):
Becky. Yeah, I think Riois gonna wait. I think Becky Lynch
is going to go on that vacation. And Ria's just she's just so hot
right now and just such a starfor w W. It would be a
huge miss for her not to getthat pas the torch Ish, especially if
Becky becomes less full time moving forward. It's just funny to see when the
(45:07):
WWE puts the promotional machine behind someone. In the last eighteen months, Rhea
went from obscurity to the hottest propertyin the company. Like, it's insane
how big she is now? Dude. Before she joined Judgment Day, she
was like, there was how manyfans saying, oh, you know,
Rio's ruined on the main roster. What is she doing on the main roster
(45:29):
right now? Yeah? She hadshe had nothing going on. The Interconneval
title match. I think is reallyinteresting Gunther versus Sammy's aim. All the
TV booking would suggest Sammy's gonna win, right. He's been laid out in
multiple weeks, and usually on thego home episode, whoever's left laying is
the guy that's going to get hishand raised at the pay per view?
(45:52):
Did Sammy versus Gunther for the ICstrap. Yeah. As much as I'd
like to think that the Cinderella storyis going to take place with this one,
that's not the Cinderella story that theWW is gonna tell, I think
that Gunther keeps this one and probablyloses it on a lesser, lesser known
pay per view down the line. That's interesting, of course, I agree.
(46:16):
I think Guther is gonna end upwinning. And like you said,
the real Cinderella story is Chad Gable, not Sammy's Ain. There's a lot
of belief up there that Chad Gable, who's been acting as quasi mentor slash
coach to Sammy over the last fewweeks, that Chad Gable could actually turn
(46:39):
heel and end up screwing Sammy's Ainout of the title. I think that's
a very possible working scenario, andthen those two spin off into a feud
that's possible. I don't want Gootherto lose. I've gone on record saying
he's my favorite piece on the entireroster. That being said, all the
(47:00):
traditional WWE booking makes you think Sammy'sgetting his hand raised. So I'll say
Sammy, even though it's not whatI want to have happen. The six
Pack Ladder Match, Judgment Day,Awesome Truth, New Day, a town
down Under, which, by theway, I love that name, New
Catch Republic for the six Pack TagTeam Championship. I mean, this is
(47:24):
a pick em. This is likea fucking crap shoot. Did you don't
think so? Super easy, supereasy, our truth, Our Truth wins
this whole fucking thing. I stillremember. Yeah, Michael Cole went out
of his way on Raw to saythat all both sets of titles need to
(47:45):
be pulled down before the match ends. So there is a possibility that either
the same team wins both in theundisputed continues or the tag team titles get
split up. So you think, are they gonna be Do you think they're
taking it on? I think Ithink no matter what, our Truth ends
up with one of those belts.Yeah, there's no doubt about it,
(48:06):
because I mean's he is just gold. He is money printing money right now,
right, So you let him runwith it a little bit. Why
not? It's not going to getanother chance at it, you know what
I mean. You give this dudehis flower, yeah, killing him,
absolutely killing it. I mean,if you go based on that, and
(48:28):
you go based on his marketability, you're one hundred percent right. I think
Our Truth has to win something.I think Priest and Balor have had their
run and they've established themselves. Balor, it's been well publicized. His contract
is coming up and has not assignedan extension yet, although the word I
hear is he plans to stay withWWE for the rest of his career,
but still contract is coming up,and that's not a company that is going
(48:51):
to leave their belt on someone whenthey don't have a renewal. Damian Priest
a lot of rumors about him cashingin his money in the bank briefcase,
so he doesn't need the tag titlesanymore. We'll see what happens. But
I have heard the same theory thatBoris mentioned about this would be the right
way to split up the tag teamchampionships, So that's entirely possible too if
(49:14):
they were going to do that.I think Awesome Truth wins one set and
then maybe the New Catch Republic takesthe other because I think those two guys
have something, you know, andI think the big strong boy is really
doing a good job getting himself overwith all his crazy shtick. At Night
(49:35):
two, I'm gonna run that downreal quick. Seth Rawlins versus Drew McIntyre
for the World Heavyweight Championship, EoSky versus Bailey for the Women's Championship,
La Knight versus aj Styles, LoganPaul defending the United States Championship versus Kevin
Owens and Randy Orton the Pride Ihate that name. Bobby Lashley in the
Street Profits versus The Final Testament, and then Roman Reign defending the Championship against
(50:01):
Cody Rhodes. It might be ano rules match. It will be a
no rules match on Night two,and that's what's going now. So we
have four championship matches on Night two, So let's specifically look at those championship
matches. Seth versus Drew. Isthere anyone that thinks Seth is keeping the
(50:24):
title? I really doubt that there'sany chance he can. No. Yeah,
No. The bigger question is who'sgonna leave us Champ, Drew McIntyre
and Priest. Well, that's anotherquestion. Right, Because there's been a
lot of talk of Damian Priest cashingin his money in the bank. I
(50:44):
don't think he can do it onthis night. I don't because I think
the only way Damian Priest cashes inmoney in the bank is if Seth Rollins
manages to retain somehow. That's theonly way I see it happening. Because
through McIntyre has been so fought andhe's been so good as a heel and
(51:08):
then to get screwed by another heelthat really cuts his legs out from under
him. I think. I thinkit really cuts his legs out from under
him and gives him nowhere to go, right, So I don't love that
idea. I think if if ifPriest is going to cash in, it's
only if Seth finds a way toretain. That's my opinion. Remember what
(51:30):
is punk is on commentary? Fuckingwhat? I'm just saying. What if
Damian Priest does cash in and everybody'slooking at that match like that's where he's
going to cash in, that DrewMcIntyre match, right with Seth. What
if that's not the match that he'slooking to cash in on. What if
(51:52):
that happens and Cody does end upwinning only to get only to get in
on the anger that people are wouldhave if that were to happen. Yeah,
what better city for it to takeplace? Is not enough police kill
(52:19):
Hugh Delphia Triple h better not evenbe in the city when that happens.
If that would have happened, youknow, Vince would book it. You
absolutely no, Vince would book it. And Vince is nowhere near the building
on Sunday nights, you know what? Speaking of Witch, Speaking of Witch,
(52:42):
I heard a really interesting thing todayfrom uh, what's his name,
Dutch Mantel, and he said hegot this from a very very reliable source
that said last year twenty twenty three, remember when Seena had that extended run
during the writer's strike and he cameback to w TOW for a few months.
(53:05):
Apparently Vince went and hired John Cenawithout telling TKO the board and paid
him a ridiculous sum of money asa fuck you to TKO. And when
TKO found out, they locked Vinceout of all of the accounts and they
permanently locked him out of the headquarters. He's not even allowed to go into
(53:30):
the building. So Wild was sayingDutch was saying, when people Dutch was
saying, when people talk about Vinceis still pulling puppet strings, He's like
those strings were cut off by AriManuel a long time ago. He's got
no strings because if anyone was foundto be colluding with Vince, they'd be
(53:52):
fired. So nobody loves Vince enoughto put their own job on the line,
you know what I'm saying. Andit's an interesting story. And when
we were talking about the Hall ofFame earlier, just to bring that full
circle, isn't it funny that theone guy who's never gonna get in the
Hall of Fame is Vince McMahon.Yep, there you go. Is Chris
(54:15):
beat Chris ben Wah in the Hallof Fame. Chris ben Wah does not
deserve a spot on his merit comparedto Vince McMahon. I'm just saying it's
funny that he'll never get in.We don't know, we don't know that
Vince McMahon has killed people or not. He'll never get in. But you
(54:42):
guys both referenced the main about asecond ago. I'll get back to that
a second. But another championship matchEO Sky versus Bailey. I feel like
this one is another gimme, likeBailey is one thousand percent gonna win.
As unpredictable as the championship matches areon Night one, I feel like Night
two championship matches are a little bitmore easy to read. Yeah, I
agree. The build is to themain. The build is to the main
(55:05):
on Night two, So that's whyI think they loaded it with with championship
matches. So you still have youstill have those matches. Oh, it's
a championship match, but nothing's reallygoing to change in this ones, right
Logan Paul, Heaven, Owens,Randy Orton, that one to me is
a pick um. Uh No,I disagree. I disagree. Logan Paul
(55:28):
is going to win, and he'sgoing to walk down with his brother on
Netflix with the US Championship and wheneverthat is that fight. Yeah. I
think I think that. I thinkthat they like what Logan Paul is doing
with that belt right now, andthey're going to continue to let him get
(55:51):
eyeballs on that belt the way thathe's doing it. I think the nice
thing about this is is I feelsorry for Kevin Owens because I feel like
he's third wheel in this match inthis feud, because I really really like
the idea of seeing what Randy Ortoncan pull out of Logan Paul. Logan
Paul is a blessing to everybody inprofessional wrestling right now. That's coming from
(56:16):
a guy who has taking bumps, his athleticism and his wanting to learn and
just completely submersing himself into all ofthis. I mean, who knew,
Absolutely nobody fucking knew. And thefact that now he's got a chance to
get in there with a guy likeRandy Orton, I mean, come on,
(56:37):
come on, who Randy? Like? I watched the Logan Paul interview
he did last week with Rhea Ripleyon his podcast, and he was talking
to Rhian. It was a verycasual shoot interview. Ria is out of
character and he says, you know, I'm still an outsider in that locker
room, and I tiptoe around becauseI feel like I'm an outsider and everyone's
(56:58):
very nice to me, but Iknow that I don't do what they do
because I'm not on the road asmuch as they are, and I just
sort of fly in when they askme to. He's like, everyone's very
nice, and Randy Orton is verynice, but he terrifies me. Yeah,
and he's like, that's a shoot. Yeah, I can see that.
You can see that, Yeah, yeah, if you know anything about
(57:22):
Randy's past, right, like Iwould like, Oh, I've only ever
had like, I've only ever hadone or two in person interactions with Randy
Orton. They're both very very short, and he does have a stoic the
fucker you looking at resting face Likehe's one of those guys that if he
(57:43):
likes you, you're good, andif he doesn't like you, you might
want to just leave the room.I could honestly see either one of those
really talented workers winning this match. But I think you're right, Logan.
Paul probably retains, does anyone haveany interest in versus AJ styles? Yeah?
La Knight does that he's finally gota WRESTLEADIA match or a match in
(58:09):
general. Listen, I think thatmatch is going to be a lot better
than people are giving it credit for. You know, I think it's going
to be a hell of a match. And you know, maybe that's the
match where something switches, but switches. Maybe that's the match where it finally
happens for La Knight that he canyou know, get hella over. Oh
(58:36):
isn't he over? It's over?But he's not hell over. I think
at this point for him, heneeds to have a moment like what MJF
not in early twenty twenty three. In early twenty twenty three, MJF was
a guy who people said was justa talker and his ringwork was balls.
(59:00):
And then he said, Okay,Marx, watch this, and he just
started doing shit. He just startedputting spots into his match, even shit
that doesn't even make sense. Hewould just build dumb high spots into his
match and then the marks go,oh my god. He's so talented in
the ring, and I think LaKnight as much as he's an old school
(59:22):
guy kid with an old school mindsetof I don't need to do this in
that right, I think for himto take that next step in the eyes
of the public, he needs toinject a little more git needs to inject
a little more stuff into his work. That's what I was so so like.
(59:42):
He went from a guy who didthe work to then a guy who
does the talk. Now he needsto be the guy that does both.
And I think that a match withAJ is going to be able to pull
that out of him, And foranyone out there who says, well,
you can't do all that stuff becausehe's not that good. He's the guy
(01:00:05):
that does the motion capture for everysingle move in WWE's video game. Yeah,
he does everything. The top Rope, Spanish Fly, the Poison Ranas,
the fucking the Tollpaceless, he doesall that shit. Listen, we've
all been around, and I've beenaround in enough locker rooms enough to I
know enough of these fucking guys.I've been in the business for twenty six
(01:00:29):
fucking plus years. Just because youcan do it doesn't mean you should do
it. It doesn't make any sensefor that character to do those types of
things. Right now, say thatin the mirror ten times, will Ospring?
(01:00:50):
Who would show up? What's that? Who would show up if you
did that? If you said itin the mirror ten times, you know
what I mean? Like a candyMan moment, the ultimate spot maker.
No he ain't no spot monkey,No no, no, I wasn't answering
you. I wasn't answering you.Super crazy shop that Maybe that's a good
(01:01:15):
one. Psychosis right, hoovy hoovey. So I think that match has potential
to be storytelling. Now, Idid just reference MJF. Okay, there
is a filthy, disgusting, probablyunlikely rumor that's been going around out there
(01:01:38):
that MJF has secretly signed a contractwith WWE. I don't think this is
legit, but this is a dirtystory that's out there. And one person
said that there was a plan forJohn Cena to make an appearance, an
unscheduled appearance at WrestleMania forty and toINTRODUCEF. I don't know that there's any
(01:02:04):
validity to this. Do you guysthink there's any likelihood whatsoever? If you
had to bet some sum of money, what would you bet on the likelihood
of MJF showing up either at wrestleMania weekend or the week after WrestleMania,
which is traditionally a big week fordebuts. I mean, if I had
(01:02:27):
to guess, if I had toguess, I would say that if you
were to use him on WrestleMania weekend, it gets lost. I think a
moment, a moment like that getscompletely lost because where you supposed to put
him, you don't just throw himright into the mix. And everything is
building towards these towards just one momentin this WrestleMania, Right, so what
are you gonna do? You're gonnahave him come out? You have him
(01:02:50):
come out at the beginning, likein the pre show. You know,
Grayson Waller is out there cutting apromo and MJF comes out and gives him
the what for? Right, takesout a heel, baby faces, and
then next week turns heel on somebodylike you're not you know what I mean?
So, if you're gonna use him, use him on Monday night,
have him come out, or evenif it's even if you start a tease,
all of a sudden somebody sees, you know, somebody walking out the
(01:03:13):
door and was like, is thatAnd then they open up the door and
there's a scar flaying on the groundor something like that. You know what
I mean? One thousand percent theywould, right, But you can start
something like that. You could absolutelystart something like that because I think that
if you use him on this weekend, it kills any kind of momentum you
(01:03:35):
could get with him. So overthis weekend or the next week, what
do you think the likelihood is tidnext week? If so, you think
it will happen next week? No, I don't think anything will happen because
it's the world of professional wrestling. What I would like to have happen is
exactly that. But you know, boris what's your thought. I don't think
(01:04:00):
that there's really much of a chanceof that happening. And I agree with
Tid that if it were to happen, Monday has to be it. Like
again, that's the night of firstappearances, return surprises. You think back
to Lesler in twenty twelve, Goldbergtwenty, you know, two thousand and
three, right, So it wouldbe Monday if anything. But I really
do I doubt it'll happen. Tobe honest, you don't want to waste
(01:04:25):
a pop like that on something that'sgonna get lost in the mix. You're
spent, You're gonna have to spendway too much. You're gonna have to
spend way too much money for thatpop, right, so you're gonna want
to utilize it. I say,it's gonna it's gonna be hard as hell
to keep that a secret this weekend. Yeah, right, as heavily trafficked
(01:04:47):
as the whole city is right now, it's gonna be really hard to keep
that on. The Look at Julia, Look at Julia. She's been spotted
at the airport going to Philadelphia fromTokyo. So like, yeah, but
those girls got stalkers, man,Well yeah, right, you knew earlier.
(01:05:11):
Jeff Hardy posted a video on Instagramtoday where he was singing and the
backdrop. Fans were calling out, like is no one going to comment on
the fact that he's in Philly.I'm like, uh, Jeff's under contract,
so I'm pretty sure that's not athing. But who knows. But
the Hall of Fame is happening,I don't know. Yeah, Hall of
(01:05:33):
Fame happening. Anybody could be there, like this is the beautiful thing,
right, Yeah, there's conventions, there's all kinds of shit going. Yeah,
yeah, okay, the main event. And for the record, I
don't think MJF has signed a contractwith w W. I don't buy that
dirty story that's out there. RomanReigns defending against Cody Rhodes, the undisputed
(01:05:55):
ww Universal Champion. Deja vu,Everything old is new again. We did
this last year, Let's run back. I do think it was the right
decision last year to not have Codywin. Now he is hotter than ever.
The people are demanding that he wins. Cody went on the Today Show
today and his quote was, ifI don't win the title this weekend,
(01:06:20):
I may as well stop wrestling andmove to commentary. That's a big statement
to say on the record. Yeah, no, wrestlers don't say stuff on
the record ever. But he's buryinghimself. Yeah, yeah, so that
(01:06:42):
it all looks that much bigger. You think there's a possibility to that Cody
doesn't walk out of WrestleMania holding thetitle. I think that he wins the
thing, and I think he getsswerved somehow. I think we're seeing Dusty
two point zero all over again. There's no way I say he walks into
Monday Night Raw next week with thetitle. Do you think he leaves Raw
(01:07:08):
with the title? Then you don'tgive a ship. But he's walking into
exactly. I can't I can't bookRaw, but he's watching to Raw with
the title. I will bet,I will bet anything that that's gonna happen.
Boris, what do you think? Here's the thing? Right? Like
(01:07:30):
we you and I have talked aboutthis online, and is there any way
that Cody can't come back? Isthere any way that he's not you know,
quote unquote buried. If he loseson Sunday, that's too back to
back main events against the same person, the same story. Odds are stacked
against them. If he loses,I just don't see a world where he
(01:07:54):
can get any person. Would youtwo marks lose faith in him? I
think the entire fan base. Oh, I'm asking YouTube, I'm asking you
two listen. I've never really believedCody as a main event player. But
that's irrelevant. But that's irrelevant. The truth is the fans believe in it,
and they want it. And whatI'm saying is, at this point,
(01:08:16):
after you've revved up the promotional machinetwo years in a row, if
you don't pull the trigger, youcan't rev up that promotional machine again because
people will be like, fooled meonce, shame on me, fooled me
twice, shame on you. Tryto fool me three times, I'll kick
you in the dick. Like there'sno way they're gonna crank this up again.
(01:08:39):
And if he loses, then whatwhat do you do with him?
You can't have a rematch. Theyalready stated a stipulation, no more rematches
for him. That's what I'm saying. Damien Priech there's nowhere to go.
There's nowhere to go. He reallyshould just move to commentary, Damien Price.
(01:08:59):
Damian Priest would be the new programus. He wins the title,
sure, and then Price. Okay, listen, I'm not gonna go into
the weeds that far. He's gonnabeat Roman Reigns for them, Okay,
that's what I'm telling you. He'sgonna beat Roman Reigns for the belt,
(01:09:21):
all the other all the other possibilitiesand fantasy booking. I don't know,
but he's gonna pin Roman's shoulders tothe mat one, two three. It's
probably gonna take seventy five crossroads facebusters. But that's what's gonna happen. And
contrary to the belief of a lotof people online, I do not believe
(01:09:41):
for one second he's gonna get helpfrom person A, person B, person
c. No one else would touchRoman at all because it will remove the
shine from Cody's win. If ababy everyone else, If a babyface runs
down and chases the Rock away, chases Solo away, chases Jimmy Await,
(01:10:05):
that's fine. Nobody else touches Romanat all at all, because if one
other person touches Roman, it's likeCody didn't do it. Cody didn't do
it on his own. He hasto do it alone for it to matter.
So then what if it doesn't matter? What if the Rock is the
one who touches Roman, that's notgonna happen. That the belief that people
(01:10:30):
had that Rock was going to turnon Roman, that all went up in
flames last week when Rock left.Cody is a bloody mess. I think
the story of Rock turning on Romanpossibly comes after Roman loses the title and
then we start to see a powerstruggle within the bloodline, like you call
yourself the tribal chief, you droppedthe ball and in that case, to
(01:10:54):
me, I'm getting visions of andcoincidentally, Triple H is the man with
the book. I'm getting flashes ofwrestle Mania aftermath when Sean Michaels lost the
WWE Championship and the next night onRaw, Triple H came out and declared
a new time for DX. Sehnis out, Gripple H is in,
(01:11:17):
and he brought in new recruits andthey just signed Tomatanga and Uh and the
other one his brother, what's hisname again, Tia or Leoni. The
two Haku brothers. Right, theysigned both of them. They are not
(01:11:38):
family per se, but they areconsidered extended members of the family. They
could both become part of the Bloodlineangle. Booker T I know for a
fact, has been pushing hard forthe last six months for them to sign
Jacob Fatou, as have each memberof the Bloodline. If they brought in
(01:11:58):
Jacob Fatu, that's another piece toenter into that story. And they also
have Umaga son Zilla, who's greenishship. But if you just want a
guy to be the new Solo whileSolo starts working more, he could be
that guy. And then you've gotso many names. Maybe it turns into
(01:12:19):
a a splitting of the bloodline. One half led by Roman, one half
led by Rock. They could feudfor the next two fucking years. Maybe
I think you're missing the Sun thenSung hero in all of this, though,
because that entire pack, that entirepack could also have their own referee.
(01:12:42):
I'm talking about Adrian Butler Fijian Bloodlineright there, right, this is
the perfect time to call him up. Come on Trips, Harnet. I'm
trying to get you up there.Brother. You're in the blood Line.
We have our own referee. He'sthe Nick Patrick of the blood Line.
(01:13:06):
Bring back uncensored the side story foreveryone. Back in the day when Adrian
Butler was an indie wrestler in theGreater Toronto area and we go out to
the clubs and he was a shyyoung kid. I would wing man for
this kid, and I would goup to girls. I'd be like,
ladies, this is my friend. He's the Prince of Fiji. He doesn't
(01:13:27):
speak much English, but he's veryvery rich. If you would just smile
and nod and and yeah, andthen he'd and then he'd close. Yeah,
super easy, excellent. So,uh, boris I don't think you
went on the record Roman or CodyCody. Yeah, it has to be.
(01:13:53):
It has to be. I thinkit has to be, especially if
you go by what I said earliertraditional WWE booking. The guy has been
destroyed physically the last two weeks ina row, and then you're gonna pin
him, Just fire him. Atthat point, he don't need him on
the roster anymore. If you're gonnapin him, just get him out the
(01:14:16):
door, you know, because valueto your roster anymore. Just create the
new. Uh. You can hirea Davy boy Smith Junior again and put
him in a tag team, justlike Lex Luger had to do after he
kind of had the same route. How well did that work out? Exactly?
Listen, listen. Nobody knows howmuch I enjoy seeing happy people's happiness
(01:14:43):
taken away from them. So I'mgonna say it's called dusty finish for a
reason. Ladies and gentlemen, comeon, Oh, you are the quintessential
asshole yelling at clouds that just wantsto w the world burn. Yeah,
you just wanted to see everyone beangry. Yeah, yeah, let's get
(01:15:08):
that. Let's get that emotion flowing. Ladies and gentlemen, come on.
You know you noted. When itcomes to professional wrestling, I am the
biggest advocate and believer of heat.I think that heat was a long forgotten
aspect building intensity, building emotion. But in this instance, that's bad heat.
(01:15:31):
That's selling stock heat. No,we're north of the border. That's
fine, it'll never touch us uphere. I'm telling you that's worth fire.
I'm telling you for all the peopleliving in Philly, Woo, Sunday
night can get a little crazy.Yeah, convenience stories will be up in
(01:15:53):
flames like forget it. There's nochance get your cheese steaks early because every
shop is going to get burnt toash. Do the poles get greased?
Do the lamp poles get greased? This year in Philadelphia? Oh God?
How much of a factor do youthink it'll be that early? Reports say
(01:16:16):
that Saturday and Sunday in Philadelphia isexpected to be about fifty degrees. Yeah?
I said this right out the getgo, bro, there's a real
listen. You see it, Yousee it behind me. Everybody knows that
I am a diehard Eagles fan,but there is a very finite time when
I will go to a game inPhiladelphia because it's an outdoor stadium. Yeah,
(01:16:42):
absolutely, because uh uh, it'shit and miss. Everybody knows that
it's hit and miss down there, right. So it's gonna be cold.
I said it was gonna be cold. It may not snow, it may
not rain, but it's going tobe cold. Still. You ever wrestle
in your twenty six year career anddoor show where it was that cold out?
Yeah? Hey, I wrestled whenit was that cold and raining in
(01:17:06):
a ring coincidentally in a three wayor something like that, and Hornet was
one of the participants, and hetook the finish, which was a choke
slam that I gave him like Iliterally picked him up and like slow motion
put him down on the ground.Oh, it was so ginger and soft.
(01:17:30):
It was great. It was somehours to show some outdoor fare show
up north someplace in Ontario. Like, what time of year would this would
have been? How cold was it? Do you remember? Oh? It
was it was the it was thefall fare. I know that, so
it be. It was cold.It was cold. We wrestled. I'm
pretty sure. I'm pretty sure heand I both wrestled in hoodies. Amazing.
(01:17:59):
I mean, you normally had aT shirt or tank top anyway.
But it is trying. Yeah, legit, that is so funny. Who's
the third guy? Do you remember? I don't remember, I honestly don't.
It might have been Matt Burns.I don't know. That's so funny,
(01:18:21):
so funny. Okay, overall,it's fun to look back when we're
talking about forty years of WrestleMania. When this one is said and done,
it's a highly anticipated show by allprojections, It's going to be the most
watched and highest selling, biggest revenueWrestleMania of all time. But in terms
(01:18:48):
of enjoyability rewatchability, where do youguys predict that this one will fall in
the pantheon of WrestleMania. I thinkthis is gonna be up there. It's
gonna be up there. The cardlooks pretty good. You know, we
talked about not like I know,we went through some of the matches,
(01:19:11):
but even then there was a lotof discussion, discourse, conversation, fantasy
booking that can happen, like thewinner isn't known going into the night.
So I think that that's really gonnabe fun. The card looks great.
I think it's gonna be the topthird I think overall, just because talent
wise where we are, Yeah, you have to assume that they're gonna be
(01:19:33):
bigger and better shows. Production wise, absolutely, As far as going down
over the course of history, Imean, you're gonna be really tough to
beat WrestleMania three. So you know, well, the the iconic measure of
that Hogan Andre thing, you knowwhat I mean, and the implications that
(01:19:57):
it had on professional wrestling still tothis day go down as one of the
biggest I think, right, so, will this be better produced? Will
it have better talent, will bea more I appealing show. Will it
have the same ramifications on professional wrestlinggoing forward? I don't think so,
(01:20:18):
but we'll see. I think alot of people traditionally suggest that WrestleMania X
seven is the best one ever.I've never really subscribed to that belief.
I think WrestleMania ten is probably myfavorite top to bottom, despite the fact
that that son of a bitch BrettHart got his hand raised at the end
(01:20:38):
of the night. But aside fromthat, my personal feelings for Brett Hart
aside is a stellar card. Iactually thought the last two WrestleMania's thirty eight
and thirty nine were very very, very very good and very well done and
are highly underrated because people have arecency bias the old ones. But they
(01:21:00):
were both really good, and Ithink I think when it's all said and
done, WrestleMania forty will fall somewherein that top five top six. Ever,
when you look top to bottom andthen when you revisit in five to
ten years and go, oh wow, look how many people on the undercard
became huge? You know, Ireally see that on this show. And
(01:21:26):
the same goes for Stand and DeliverI think Stand and Deliver is filled with
massive future stars and people that willeventually have upper card positions at WrestleMania.
Any final thoughts before we wrap thisup. Boris honestly looking forward to it.
You know, I just love wrestling. This is the big weekend for
(01:21:47):
it. Really looking forward to it, really looking forward to talking about after
each night. And yeah, guys, it's going to be a long one,
but it's going to be a funone. Shout out to philadelph It's
been nice knowing you. For allof you people that are still going to
make it through the apocalypse down there, If you're looking for something to do,
(01:22:08):
shout out to our boy the BlueMeanie, who is having a party
at mccuskers. Look it up,Google it, go say hi if you
go there to mention if you mentionedDonnie Blue Meanie will buy you a drink.
He doesn't know it, but hewill, so please do so.
And to all of you in Philadelphia, man, have the time of your
(01:22:29):
life. Stop and smell the roses. To all the workers out there,
Absolutely enjoy this for what it is. But remember why you're doing all of
this in the first place. It'sgoing to be fantastic if you go to
mccuskers and tell the Blue MIENI thatDonnie sent you, he will buy you
a drink and then he'll call meon the phone and get my credit card
in fill. That's what's going tohappen. But I want everybody to have
(01:22:56):
a great time. Originally I wasplanning to go out and hit up a
couple of different WrestleMania parties. Tedwe talked on this show a month or
so ago with shat Claire and hewas planning a host of WrestleMania party and
I was like, Oh, that'llbe fine. I'll go chill with shot
Claire. And I've just made thedecision. I made a last minute decision.
I am going to sit my asson my couch. I am going
(01:23:18):
to be super comfortable. I'm pullingin Notorious Tid this weekend and I am
not leaving the house. I'm puttingmy fucking feet up. I'm going to
make a ton of food and I'mgoing to watch every minute of everything from
the Hall of Fame to Stand andDeliver Tonight one and night two. Even
Boris said to me, Hey,we're doing a thing on the air.
(01:23:39):
If you want to come and talkto her the show. I'm like,
bro, I'm gonna sit down andI'm going to watch the shows and that's
all I'm doing on those nights whenthe shows are on afterwards. Sure,
whatever you need, ladies and gentlemen, this has been a lot of fun.
That is notorious. Teddi Boris, thank you so much for joining us.
(01:24:00):
And of course, if people wantto check you out, they can
go to the s Enemy Network andthey can check you out on TSN and
iHeartRadio. Right, that is correct, that's the best way to go.
Sunday nightsmadevent dot Com, Uh,your favorite podcasting apps, Sunday Nights Main
Event perfect and Ted, you've gotshows going on this weekend or next week
(01:24:20):
or what the hell are you doing? Yeah, we're just kind of like
playing it by ear. And however, we just because we don't have rules.
I don't have rules. Fucking liveaudio wrestling. It's gone back to
the original days, right, fuckyour couch and fuck your rules, ladies
and gentlemen. Here, I amlike thinking, what am I gonna do
for two segment? Three segments?Like so I'm just like whatever, Yeah,
(01:24:44):
Trivia, I'm doing trivia, bringingpeople on Trivia next because you have
rules. We don't have rules.No, don't. I don't play by
them. I don't play by them. We have no rules absolutely. So
that's about it. There might besome pop up shows. I do some
roundtable stuff. We might not.Oh, it would be fun to revisit
(01:25:05):
once Night two has ended and figureout how wrong everyone was. I can't
wait for that. You know, that might be a Sunday morning thing.
Even. Yeah. As much asI love the unpredictability of this year's card,
yeah, because as much as Ilove prognosticating and trying to fantasy book
(01:25:28):
and decide what might happen, Ialso recognize this is a brand new regime
and creative. They are not followinga lot of the same tropes that have
been followed in the past, andI like when they work me. I
like when I don't know what's goingto happen. Purpose, And that's the
whole purpose of being a fan ofprofessional wrestling. Same reason, same reason
(01:25:50):
people that ride roller coasters like rollercoasters is the thrill they get if they
know they're going to that bottom. You know it's going up and it's going
down. Wrestling fandom, same exactthing. Man, you know you're gonna
get duped. You know you're gonnaget worked, but you're here for it.
I'm here for it. Thanks Ted, Thanks for My name is Donnie.
(01:26:13):
This episode one hundred and seventy inthe books. We are the godfathers
of podcasting. We'll see you nexttime, Gooses. Fuck this shit,
I'm Mount. Fuck this shit.I'm Mount. No, thanks, don't
mumy. I'm gonna just grab myselfand lease excuse me. Please, fuck
this shit. I'm Mount. Helpfuck this shit. I'm Mount. All
(01:26:34):
right then, I don't know whatthe buck just happened, but I don't
really care. I'm gonna get thefucker Patty. Here is shit. I'm out.
