Figlio di un professore di Storia moderna all'Università e un'insegnante di scuola superiore, Enrico Brizzi cresce a Bologna dove ancora alle superiori inizia a frequentare la redazione della casa editrice Transeuropa e all’università segue le lezioni di Umberto Eco. Esordisce a vent’anni non ancora compiuti con "Jack Frusciante è uscito dal gruppo", tradotto in ventiquattro paesi e divenuto film nel 1996. Negli anni l’autore riempie gli scaffali con romanzi, raccolte di testi brevi e graphic novel e allo stesso tempo da sfogo alle sue passioni per i lunghi viaggi a piedi e per le narrazioni ad alta voce, alternando le pubblicazioni con imprese zaino in spalla e la realizzazione di spettacoli dal vivo.
