Con un dottorato in Fisica e Astrofisica, Luca Perri si decica sia all'attività di ricerca che a quella di divulgazione: dallo sviluppo tecnologico di telescopi, allo studio dei nuclei galattici attivi e alla spettroscopia nucleare di galassie, tiene regolarmente conferenze presso i planetari di Milano e Lecco, nonché in occasione di vari festival scientifici.
Appassionato di cultura pop, spesso parla di credenze popolari e gioca con riferimenti a Big Bang Theory, Star Trek e soprattutto Star Wars su cui ha scritto un libro uscito proprio nel 2021: "La scienza di Guerre Stellari. Dal Millennium Falcon alla spada laser. Cosa è «fanta» e cosa è «scienza»".
