Speaker 1 (00:00):
So listening to WCAT radio, your home for authentic Catholic programming.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hello, and welcome to the heart of Fiat crucified Love.
Today we are going to do a podcast on the Rosary.
And I have not been able to keep up with
a weekly podcast, even a monthly podcast. I apologize to
those of you who've reached out and asked about them.

(00:29):
This summer was just really busy. I had two full
time jobs. I was finishing my doctorate, and I became
a foster mom, and I had one placement. But there's
just a lot of work and all of that. It's
a different kind of mission and we each have a
season of our lives where the Lord asks for different things.
So I hope and pray you could keep up with

(00:52):
me on the Rosaries that I would do sparingly, and
this fall I plan to kind of get back into
my regular missionary everything. But I thought the Rosary was
a beautiful thing to talk about this week during the
month of July. I really wanted to do a podcast

(01:12):
on the Blood of Christ, and I still might later
on or I'll wait till next year now, but the
Blood of Christ is like a powerful weapon that people
don't necessarily use that brings great healing in this world
and peace. And another powerful weapon that brings healing and

(01:33):
peace to people is the Rosary. When people come to
me with problems, I always suggest that they pray to
the Blood of Christ, focusing on his sacred heart that
pours out that blood as a fountain of mercy for us,
and that they pray the Rosary every day. Pray the
Rosary every day. I was blessed to be raised in

(01:54):
a family where the family Rosary daily was prayed, and
my parents always use that saying of Father Peyton. The
family that prays together stays together, and so many problems
can be solved simply by people sitting down and praying

(02:15):
a Rosary together. It is asking our Lady, who is
the Queen of Peace, to come and to insert her
solutions of grace in the midst of conflict that happens
in families, or in the world, or just even in
your own individual lives. Right, and we look here at

(02:38):
this beautiful statue behind me of our Lady of Fatima,
And each time our Lady has appeared in the world,
whether it be Fatima, Lord Scarabondell Magigoria Lasilette, you know
she's always asked her people to pray the Rosary, to
pray the Rosary, and to pray it for peace. I

(03:00):
also pulled out this little statue of mine of the
Rosa mystica. You'll see it better once my guitar gets
put down. But our lady in those apparitions also prayed
that asked that people pray the Rosary for the virtues
that they need in this world, and that they also

(03:23):
make sacrifices. Right, Sometimes it's hard to get a Rosary in,
or you're tired, or the kids complain, or it means
you're gonna miss part of your favorite show. But those
are sacrifices that go along with the Rosary that can
really bear a powerful fruit in the world, just powerful.

(03:43):
A friend was sharing with me the other day about
some big family problems she was having with one of
her daughters and grandchildren, and she goes to Magicoria often
and she prays a Rosary daily. But I asked, are
they praying the Rosary in that home? And she said, well,
I'm sure my daughter does sometimes and she goes. I

(04:04):
guess I probably should with the kids when I'm there,
and I said, yes, pray the Rosary pray the Rosary.
All of my nanny babies know the Rosary, even when
I've gone into homes where they're not practicing the faith anymore.
I tell the children when they are falling asleep to
listen to me and I pray the Rosary. It's a

(04:26):
way of bringing great peace to people. And then they
ask for it right because they love that presence of
our Lady that brings with her a bit of heaven.
And there are many promises that come along with the Rosary,
and many different ways that we can look at that prayer.
And so that's what we're going to do today. I'm

(04:47):
going to go through the promises that we're given to
Saint Dominic to those who pray the Rosary, and I'm
going to go through some of the meditations of this
wonderful little book of Saint Louis, for it's called The
Secret of the Rosary. It's tiny, it will take you
no time to read. I highly suggest think you can
get it for three or four dollars from somewhere, but

(05:12):
it's really beautiful some of his reflections that he collected,
and so we're just going to take some snippets there
and hopefully it will inspire you. If you're not already
personally praying the Rosary every day, to do it. If
you're not praying it in your families or your homes,
do it. My parents had a rule after dinner, everybody
went and sat in the family room and prayed the

(05:32):
Rosary right If you had homework, it went on pause.
If you had a date, they waited home, and you know,
if there was, you know, a big event outside the
house and half the family was gone, whoever was home
led the Rosary. I remember my teenage brothers doing it
many nights. But it's a powerful thing, and so I

(05:57):
hope that this can help you commit to that. So
at the beginning, we're going to say a prayer and
just pray the song to our lady, and then we'll
talk a little bit. So in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen, Come,
Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle

(06:19):
in us the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit,
and we will be recreated. And thou shalt renew the
face of the earth.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb. Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray
for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen,
our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us, Our Lady,

(11:44):
Queen of Peace, pray for us. So I'm so glad
that we get to talk about this mystery of the
Rosary heart the end of August. If you follow the
liturgical calendar every day, both like the big public feasts

(12:07):
and then like the hidden feasts, starting on August fifteenth,
the Feast of the Assumption. All the way up through October,
there are just a myriad of Mary and feast days.
Of course, there is the Queenship of Mary right and
we then we had our Lady of Chesta Hava. Today

(12:29):
is the seven Joys of Mary. That's like the hidden
little feast. We'll have the birth of our Lady and
her holy name, and our Lady of sorrows, our Lady
of La Sallette, our Lady of Victory October seventh is
our Lady of the Rosary. There's our Lady of Hebron,

(12:49):
Our Lady of tomorrow is our Lady of Kiev, which
is a Russian saint. Yes, two days ago or three
days ago is another Russian one. Our Lady of Dawn
d o N, not d a w n. But every
day has from all over the world their own little

(13:12):
I'm sure I'm forgetting some other big ones. But Mary
and Feast stays, and so I feel like our Lady
is jam packed in our lives from the middle of
August all the way up to October, which is the
month of the Holy Rosary, and of course October thirteenth,
our Lady of Fatima right, the special apparition Fatima. And

(13:36):
so there's no greater way we can honor our lady
than to pray the rosary that she gave to us.
Just as children, their first word is often mama, right,
sometimes it's dad. But interestingly, when I was in Africa,

(13:56):
in Qis Swahili, the babies would call their moms dada,
that meant mommy, And so when they would meet me,
they the wan little toddlers. I took care of mostly babies,
but then toddlers and older kids. I was Da Da Mary,
which was Mama Mary. But children loved to prat the

(14:18):
name of their mother, right, Mama, Mama. And there's something
so beautiful in becoming a child of our lady and
becoming small again in her arms. She who was the
smallest of all, the least of all, raised up to
be the greatest queen. Right when we become small and

(14:39):
we just repeat her name, there is such a power
in that name, you know. For years I worked in
the exorcism and deliverance ministry, and I saw firsthand the
power of the name of Mary, of just Mary. In fact,
often when you're helping in a room, the priest is

(15:00):
praying the exorcism, and you're praying along or helping them
discern things. Satan will attack different people in the room,
and he often came at me. But he would never
call me by my name because my name is Mary.
He would call me by my last name. He would
call me Klaska because it takes all of his might

(15:23):
to even say the beautiful name of Mary. Right. What
does that name of Mary mean? There's many, many, many meanings.
One could be the star right, another is the sea right,

(15:43):
and so Mara, she is that sea, that ocean that
that is a resting place for the ark of God,
which was Christ.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Right.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Her name represents those waters in her womb where Christ
came to rest. She was somewhere. Is it the drop
of the ocean, the drop of the sea, right? And
if the sea is the divinity of God's love, she
is a drop of that, a pure refulgence of His

(16:23):
holiness right, a perfect reflection of that. My favorite beloved
is another. Her name could mean beloved, But my favorite
definition of the name Mary is bitterness. Most people would
say why, But it's because our lady took everything that

(16:45):
was bitter to herself and she made it sweet. She
took the thorns to herself and gave forth the perfume
from the roses. Right, she was at perfect rosebush that
had that perfect rows of Christ that came forth, and
so she was so were reminded of her union with

(17:06):
Him under the cross by that name Mary. Right, and
Saint Bernard of Clervaux wrote some really beautiful writing on
the name of Mary, the power of the name of Mary.
I should read it to you, but I don't have
it right here. But there is here Saint Luis de

(17:26):
Montfort speaks about that. So we're gonna I'm gonna read
some excerpts and comment on them. Just when I was
at work over the weekend, I flipped through here and
folded over the pages that I thought would be apropos. Right,
but Saint Luis de Montfort speaks about the mystical rose tree. Okay,

(17:50):
good and devout souls who walk in the light of
the Holy Spirit. I do not think that you will
mind my giving you this little mystical rose tree, which
comes straight for heaven, and which is to be planted
in the garden of your soul. It cannot possibly harm
the sweet smelling flowers of your contemplations, for it is

(18:10):
a heavenly tree, and its scent is beautiful. It will
not last in it will not in the least interfere
with your carefully planned flower beds. For being itself all
pure and well ordered, it inclines all to order and purity.
If it is carefully watered and properly attended to every day,

(18:33):
it will grow to such a marvelous height, and its
branches will have such a wide span, that, far from
hindering your other devotions, it will maintain and perfect them.
Of course you understand what I mean, since you are
spiritually minded. This mystical roast tree is Jesus and Mary
in life, death, and eternity. Its green leaves are the

(18:56):
joyous mysteries, The thorns are the sorrow ones, and the
flowers the glorious mysteries of Jesus and Mary. He wrote
this before John Paul the Second obviously gave us the
luminous mysteries. The buds are the childhood of Jesus and Mary,
and the open blooms show us both of them in

(19:17):
their sufferings. The full blown roses symbolize Jesus and Mary
in their triumph and glory. A rose delights us because
of its beauty, So here we have Jesus and Mary
and the joyous mysteries. Its thorns are sharp and prick,
which make us think of them in the sorrowful mysteries.

(19:38):
And last of all, its perfume is so sweet that
everyone loves it. And this fragrance symbolizes the glorious mysteries.
So please do not scorn this beautiful and heavenly tree,
but plant it with your own hands in the garden
of your soul, making the resolution to say your Rosary

(19:58):
every day. By saying it daily and doing good works,
you will be tending your tree, watering it, hoeing the
earth around it. Eventually you will see that this little
seed which I have given you, and which seems so
very small now, will grow into a tree so great
that the birds of heaven, predestinate and contemplative souls will

(20:22):
dwell in it and make their nests there. Its shade
will shelter them from the scorching heat of the sun,
and its great height will keep them safe from the
wild beasts on the ground. And best of all, they
will feed upon the tree's fruit, which is none other
than our adorable Jesus, to whom be honor and Glory

(20:43):
forever and ever. Amen. And I also have this one marked.
This has to do with the rosary being inant for children.
If you have children and you're like, you know, their

(21:05):
babies or their toddlers, they're not gonna sit still, but
you can put them on the floor, teach them to
be quiet, right, you don't make jokes during it, and
you let him crawl around and do their thing while
you pray around them. I was raised with small children
in the room while we prayed. Right. Sometimes they have
blacks or books or something. And as soon as they

(21:26):
get old enough to be able to speak and to
say the prayers, that they can sit there. It's not
going to hurt them for fifteen twenty minutes and hold
their rosary and to try to respond. And then when
they're old enough, you can have them take turns leading
the rosary. One of my brothers, he always prayed the
Rosary with the children when they went to bed at night,

(21:47):
and he had like upstairs like a landing, and he
had the boy's bedroom in the girl's bedroom. So he
had cancer for many years, and I took care of
his children during that time when his wife needed to
be with him, and I would sit in the hallway
there and pray shouting into both of the bedrooms while
they fell asleep at night. That's the way that I

(22:11):
do it with the children that I nanny and take
care of, because they don't always know the prayers and
they're not going to sit down and pray with me.
But as they fall asleep, they can hear it, and
they ask for that, and they've come to learn the
Rosary and love the Rosary that way. If you absolutely
don't think that you can get it done, then pray

(22:33):
one decade. Pray one decade on the drive on the
way to school. But I promise if you take the
time to give it to our lady, she will bless
the rest of your day and you'll see miracles that
you've never seen before. You'll see her hand. It's like
opening your door and saying, mother, come in and live
with us here. Right. Most of my sisters homeschooled as

(22:56):
they were raising their large families when I was younger,
and they said that when they took time every day
to take the children to Mass and to pray that rosary,
even those schools started later, they got more done because
when you put God first, when you ask our Lady
to be with you and arrange everything. Then all goes accordingly.

(23:17):
And it's interesting even nieces and nephews or people I
know who have left the church maybe they stop practicing
their faith. Or you know, different people I've met who've
been caught in sin. If they were taught the Rosary
as a child, they still have an affinity and a
love for it, so they pray it with their children,
even if they're not always going to church, right, or

(23:39):
they'll pray the Hail Mary, or if they might be
really caught in sin, but when they're caught in traffic,
they're praying a Rosary, right, And they tell me about this.
So you're giving children a tool like a permanent telephone
connection to heaven, so that no matter what happens later
on in life, when you're not there, our Lady is

(24:03):
able to reach them and connect with them. Right. And
the way that the human person has made we always
go back to that which we had in our childhood.
So it's important to have positive things around your children,
to take the time to give those core memories and
to form good habits because that's what they're going to

(24:26):
fall back on. Right. When you work with old people
a lot of times I'll work with people with dementia
or Alzheimer's or things like that too, or those at
the end of life, they always, even if they've forgotten everything,
they always go back to their childhood, right. So you're
giving them tools to get them not only ready for
life as children, to get them through life as they

(24:47):
live it, but to prepare them for eternal life at
the end, even when they don't remember anything else. So
Saint Louis to Momfort speaks about the Rosary being for
little children. And we know also that our lady when
she appeared in Lords to Bernadatte and Fatima, to Francesco
and Lucilla and Yacinta, she had them praying the Rosary

(25:11):
in La Silette. She asked them. When she came in Mediagorias,
she taught and asked those children to pray that rostary
every day. And they're not only just one decad all
of them all fifteen at the time. So our Lady,
who knows us better than we do, knows that not
only children are capable but need to be praying like that.

(25:35):
It's the foundation that you're giving them for the rest
of their lives. So Saint Louis de Montfort writes, dear
little friends, this beautiful rosebud is for you. It's one
of the beads of your rosary. And it may seem
to you to be such a tiny thing. But if
you only knew how precious this bead is, this wonderful

(25:56):
bud will open out into a gorgeous rose. You say
your Hail Mary really well. Of course, it would be
too much to expect you to say the whole fifteen
mysteries every day, but do say at least five mysteries,
and say them properly with love and devotion. This rosary

(26:17):
will be your little wreath of roses, your crowned for
Jesus and Mary. Please pay attention to every word I
have said, and listen carefully to a true story that
I want to tell you, and I would like you
to remember. Two girls, two little sisters, were saying the
rosary very nicely and devoutly, in front of their home.

(26:41):
A beautiful lady suddenly appeared walking toward the younger, who
was only about six or seven, took her by the
hand and led her away. Her elder sister was very
startled and looked for the little girl everywhere. At last,
still not having found her, she went home and heart
broke wo kingly told her parents that her sister had

(27:02):
been kidnapped. For three whole days, the poor father and
mother sought the child but could not find her. At
the end of the third day, they found her at
the front door, looking extremely happy and pleased. Naturally, they
asked her where on earth she had been, and she
told them that the lady to whom she had been

(27:22):
saying her rosary had taken her to a lovely place
where she had given her delicious things to eat. She
said that the lady had also given her a baby
boy to hold, that he was very beautiful, and she
had kissed him over and over again. The father and mother,
who had been converted to the Catholic faith only a

(27:42):
short time before, sent at once for the Jesuit father
who had instructed them for their reception into the church,
and who had also taught them devotion to the Most
Holy Rosary. They told him everything that had happened. And
it was this priest himself who told me this story.
It all took place in Paraguay. So dear children, imitate

(28:06):
these little girls and say your rosary every day. As
they always did. If you do this, you will earn
the right to go to heaven to see Jesus and Mary.
If it's not their wish that you should see them
in this life. At any rate, after you die, you
will see them for all eternity. So be it. Therefore,

(28:29):
let all men, the learned and the ignorant, the just
and the sinners, the great and the small, praise and
honor Jesus and Mary night and day by saying the
most Holy Rosary. Salute Mary, who has labored much amongst you.
So the Rosary is especially important for small children. Where

(28:57):
did the Rosary come from? It came from Saint dom
And here's a story told directly by Blessed Alan de
l'au roque, who wrote about the life of Saint Dominic.
He was a Dominican father. So Saint Dominic, seeing the
gravity of people's sins was hindering the conversion of Albigensians,

(29:24):
withdrew to a forest near Toulouse, where he prayed unceasingly
for three days and three nights. During this time he
did nothing but weep and do harsh penances in order
to appease the anger of Almighty God. For the sins
of the people. He used this discipline so much that

(29:45):
his body was lacerated, and finally he fell into a coma.
At this point, our lady appeared to him, accompanied by
three angels, and she said, Dear Dominic, do you know
which weapon the Blessed True wants to use to reform
the whole world? Oh, my lady, answered Saint Dominic, you

(30:07):
know far better than I do, because, next to your
son Jesus Christ, you have always been the chief instrument
of our salvation. Then our lady replied, I want you
to know that in this kind of warfare, the battering
ram has always been the angelic psalter, which is the
foundation stone of the New Testament. The angelic Psalter is

(30:32):
when Gabriel said to our lady, Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee right. Therefore, if you want
to reach hardened souls and win them over to God,
preach my salter. So he arose, comforted and burning with
zeal for the conversion of the people in that district.

(30:52):
He made straight for the cathedral. At once, unseen angels
ring the bells to gather the people together, and Saint
Dominic began to preach at the very beginning of his sermon,
an appalling storm broke out and shook the earth. The
sun was darkened, and there was so much thunder and
lightning that all were very much afraid. Even greater was

(31:17):
their fear when looking at the picture of our Lady
exposed in a prominent place, they saw her raise her
arms to heaven three times, to call down God's vengeance
upon them if they failed to be converted, to amend
their lives and seek the protection of the Holy Mother
of God. God wished, by means of the supernatural phenomena,

(31:39):
to spread this new devotion of the Holy Rosary and
to make it more widely known. At last the prayer
of Saint Dominic, the storm came to an end, and
he went on preaching. So fervently and compellingly did he
explain the importance and value of the Holy Rosary that
almost all the people of Toulouse embraced it and renounced

(32:03):
their false beliefs. In a very short time, a great
improvement was seen in the town. People began leading Christian lives,
and they gave up their former bad habits. There was
the story you'll hear about. On October seventh, our Lady
of the Rosary. This feast was created in honor of

(32:25):
Our Lady of Lepanto, and it's another story where you
see the power of the Rosary. There was a big
battle going on between the Christians and the Muslims, and
the Muslims were winning on the ocean and boats, and
the Christian generals started to pray, and the Pope had

(32:47):
a vision of what was going on, and he also
began to pray, and our Lady appeared and she won
the victory for the Christians, and to honor her for that,
they made the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary
and declared that a special they will remember her intercession.

(33:08):
But it all came from during the Battle of Lepanto,
when they prayed to her and she appeared and she
conquered the Muslims. So I think about our little prayer
groups that we've started all over the world, the Children
of the Cross, if you're not familiar with them. A
couple of years ago, it was on my heart to
start children prayer groups to pray for priests specifically because

(33:31):
the prayers of children are so powerful. But the needs
of our persecuted Christians was also powerful, and most of
the children that were joining these groups were from persecuted countries,
so we decided to double up the mission. That their
mission was to gather on first Fridays. Although most we
meet weekly, some daily to pray the Rosary and other

(33:57):
Catholic prayers, if possible, in front of the Blessed Sacrament,
but if not, at least the Catholic prayers of the Rosary,
the Chopolet, the Litany's Four Priests, and for persecuted Christians.
And we have thousands of children in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Uganda,
the Cameroon, Ethiopia, our biggest places, but then little groups

(34:22):
all over the world, even here in the United States.
And these prayers are converting the Muslims that are persecuting them,
that are killing their family members. It's really beautiful. And
we look at the problems in our own country, the lying,
the stealing, the cheating, the promiscuity, the pride, the greed,

(34:43):
the satanism and witchcraft and new age, the murder of
children and abortion, the gender dysphoria, and the confusion about
one's own identity. Right, all of these ills can be
conquered by the Rosary. If only Americans would pick up

(35:06):
the Rosary with their children and pray every single day.
So think about that. There is also the story of
Bartola Mulongo. Saint Bartolo mu Longo was a Satanic high
priest and he converted to the faith through the Miraculous Medal,
and he spread devotion to the Miraculous Medal and to

(35:29):
the Holy Rosary. He became an apostle of the Rosary,
and he became a great saint. So no sin is
too great to keep you from heaven. If you turn
to the Lord with contrition and you pray the Rosary,
you invite our Lady to guide your life. This whole

(35:51):
book is just brilliant, But we see the Rosary as
a crown of roses. Saint Louis de Montfort writes, ever
Vince blessed Alan de lel Roke re established this devotion
after Dominica kind of fell away, and then one of
his his fellow Dominicans, later on re established this devotion.

(36:14):
The voice of the people, which is the voice of God,
called it the Rosary. The word rosary means a crown
of roses. That is to say that every time people
say the Rosary devoutly, they place a crown of one
hundred and fifty three white roses and sixteen red roses
upon the heads of Jesus and Mary. Being heavenly flowers,

(36:36):
these roses will never fade or lose their exquisite beauty.
Our Lady has shown her through approval. Her thorough approval
of the name Rosary. She is revealed to several people
that each time they say a Hail Mary, they are
giving her a beautiful rose, and that each complete Rosary

(36:57):
makes her a crown of roses. The well known Jesuit
brother Alphonsis Rodriguez used to say his Rosary with such
fervor that he often saw a red rose come out
of his mouth at each hour Father, and a white
rose at each Hail Mary. The red and white roses
were equal in beauty and fragrance, the only difference being

(37:21):
their color. The chronicles of Saint Francis tell of a
young friar who had the praiseworthy habit of saying the
Crown of Our Lady the Rosary every day before dinner.
One day, for some reason or other, he did not
manage to say it. The refractory bell had already been
rung when he asked a Superior to allow him to

(37:42):
say it before coming to the table, and having obtained
the permission, he withdrew to his cell to pray. After
he had been gone a long time, the Superior sent
another friar to fetch him, and he found him in
his room, bathed in a heavenly light, facing our lady,
who had two angels with her. Beautiful roses kept issuing

(38:04):
from his mouth at each hail Mary. The angels took
them one by one, placing them on our lady's head,
and she smilingly accepted them. Finally, two other friars, who
had been sent to find out what had happened to
the first two, saw the same lovely scene, and our
Lady did not go away until the whole rosary had

(38:26):
been said. So the complete rosary is a large crown
of roses, and the rosary of fifteen decads is a
little wreath of flowers, or a small crown of heavenly roses,
which we place on the heads of Jesus and Mary.
The roses the queen of flowers, and so the rosary

(38:46):
is the rose of all devotions. It is therefore the
most important one. There's so many miracles of the Rosary.
I mean, I have to read the whole book to
share them all, but I'll just share a few. Blessed

(39:15):
Alande Roke restored devotion to the Rosary and received many
pilgrimage privileges from our Lady. She graciously appeared to him
several times to teach him how to work out his salvation,
to become a good priest and perfect, perfect religious, and
how to pattern himself on our Lord. He used to

(39:37):
be horribly tempted and persecuted by devils, and then deep
sadness would fall upon him, and sometimes he used to
be near despair, But our Lady always comforted him by
her sweet presence, which banished the clouds of darkness from
his soul. She taught him how to say the Rosary,
explaining its value and the fruits to be gained, and

(40:00):
she gave him a great and glorious privilege, the honor
of being called her new spouse. As a token of
her chaste love for him, she placed a ring upon
his finger, and a necklace made of her own hair
about his neck, and she gave him a rosary. Blessed

(40:26):
Thomas of Saint John was well known for his sermons
of the most holy Rosary, and the devil, jealous of
the success he had with souls, tortured him so much
that he fell ill, and was so sick for so
long that the doctors gave up on him. One night,
when he was really thought to be dying, the devil
appeared to him in the most horrible form imaginable. There

(40:50):
was a picture of our Lady near his bed, and
he looked at it and cried with all his heart
and soul and strength, help me save me, my sweet
sweet mother. No sooner edi said this than the picture
seemed to come alive, and our Lady put out her hand,
took him by the arm, and said, do not be afraid, Thomas,
my son. Here I am, and I am going to

(41:11):
save you. Get up now and continue to preach my
Rosary as you used to. I promised to shield you
from your enemies. When our Lady said this, sa devil
fled and blessed Thomas got up, finding that he was
in perfect health. He then thanked the blessed Mother with
tears of joy and resumed his Rosary apostolate, and his

(41:32):
sermons were marvelously successful. Our Lady blessed not only those
who preached the rosary, but she highly rewards all of
those who get others to say it by their example. Alphonsis,
King of Leon and Galicia, very much wanted all of
his servants to honor Blessed Mary by saying the rosary.

(41:54):
So he used to hang a large rosary on his belt,
and he always wore it, but unfortunately he never said
it himself. Nevertheless, his wearing it encouraged his courtiers to
say the rosary very devoutly. One day the king fell
seriously ill, and when he was given up for dead,
he found himself in a vision before the judgment seed

(42:15):
of our Lord. Many devils were there accusing him of
all the sins he had committed, and our Lord, as
sovereign judge, was about to condemn him to hell, when
our Lady appeared herself to intercede for him. She called
for a pair of scales and had his sins placed
in one of the balances, whereas she put the rosary

(42:37):
that he had always worn on the other scale, together
with all the rosaries that had been said. Because of
his example, it was found that the rosaries weighed more
than his sins. Looking at him with great kindness, our
Lady said as a reward for this little honor that
you paid me in wearing my Rosary, I have obtained

(42:58):
a great grease for you from my son. Your life
will be spared for a few more years. See that
you spend it wisely, and you do penance. When the
King regained consciousness, he cried out, blessed be the Rosary
of the most Holy Virgin Mary, by which I've been
delivered from eternal damnation. After he recovered his health, he

(43:21):
spent the rest of his life in spreading devotion to
the Holy Rosary. He said it faithfully. Every day people
who love the Blessed Virgin ought to follow the example
of King Alfonsis and of the other saints who I've mentioned,
so they too may win other souls for the Holy Rosary,
and then they will receive great graces on earth and

(43:45):
an eternal life. There are many miracles that have been
done by virtue of the Rosary. While Saint Dominic was
preaching the Rosary, a heretic made fun of the miracles
and the fifteen mysteries of the Holy Roslae, and this
prevented other heretics from being converted. As a punishment, God suffered,

(44:07):
God suffered fifteen thousand devils to enter the man's body.
That's a huge possession. His parents took him to father
Dominic to be delivered from the evil spirits, and he
started to pray and begged everyone who was there to
say the Rosary out loud with him, and at each
Hail Mary, our Lady drove out one hundred devils from

(44:28):
the heretic's body, and they came out in the form
of red hot coals. After he had been delivered, he
abjured his former errors, was converted and joined the Rosary confraternity.
Several of his associates did the same, having been greatly
moved by the punishment he had and the power of

(44:50):
the Rosary. The Rosary has been known to heal people.
The rose has been known to provide for people in need.
You know, when different saints had great needs of financial
needs or needs of provision, that they would pray and suddenly,

(45:15):
in praying the Rosary, those things would show up so
that they could continue their mission. People in darkness who
don't know their way, do not know God's will, can
do a Rosary novena or you know the fifty four
day Rosary novena where every day, you do a rosary
for fifty four days offering it. And our Lady she

(45:37):
heals people, She guides people, she provides for people. She
spreads the red sea, she makes paths where there are none.
She converts people, She heals relationships, She brings peace. She
brings peace in Majiagoria. Our Lady said, by praying the
rosary and fasting wars can be stopped, so we all

(46:04):
need to do that. One day, when Saint Mechtild was
praying and was trying to think of some way in
which she could express her love of the Blessed Mother
better than she had done before, she fell into ecstasy,
and Our Lady appeared to her with the angelic salutation,
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee right,

(46:27):
inflaming letters of gold upon her bosom. And she said
to Saint Mechtilde, my daughter, I want you to know
that no one can please me more than by saying
this salutation, which the most adorable Trinity sent to me
as a love letter, right, and by which he raised
me to the dignity of the Mother of God. By
the word ave, which is hale right. It comes from

(46:51):
the name Eva or Eve. I learned that in his
infinite power, God had preserved me from all sin. And
it's a tendant misery which the first woman had been
subject to. The name Mary, which meant Lady of Light
shows that God has filled me with wisdom and light
like a shining star to light up the heaven and earth.

(47:14):
That's because Christ, the Light of the world, lived within her.
The words full of Grace reminded me that the Holy
Spirit showered so many graces upon me that I'm able
to give those graces in abundance to those who ask
it from me. As the mediatrics. When people say the
Lord is with thee they renew the indescribable joy that

(47:37):
was mine when the eternal Word became incarnate in my womb.
When they say, blessed are you among women? I praise
Almighty God's divine mercy which lifted me to this exalted
plane of happiness. And at the words blessed is the
fruit of your womb, Jesus, the whole of Heaven rejoices

(47:58):
with me to see my son Jesus Christ adored and
glorified for having saved mankind. I'm looking for where this began.

(48:34):
Our lady, says my Hail Mary, my Rosary of fifteen
or five decades is the prayer and the infallible touchstone
by which I can tell those who are led by
the spirit of God from those who are deceived by
the devil. I have known souls who seemed to soar
like eagles to the heights by their sublime contemplation, who

(48:55):
have yet pitifully been led astray by the devil. And
I only found out how wrong they were when I
learned they scorned the Hail Mary and the Rosary, which
they considered as far beneath them. The Rosary was always
considered a pious prayer of the poor. In monasteries, you
had the monks and the sisters who would pray the Psalter,
the Liturgy of the Hours, the psalms every day. But

(49:19):
if you were really poor and not smart, and you
never learned to read, sometimes you'd be admitted to the monastery.
But you would be a simple sister or monk, which
meant that you would just pray the Rosary, and by
saying those one hundred and fifty Hail Mary's and the
fifteen decades, you'd make up for those one hundred and
fifty psalms. But instead of seeing this as as something

(49:41):
beautiful and childlike. It holy. Those people were looked down
upon right, And that's what he's speaking of is people
who were so holy that they thought that the Rosary
was beneath them. The hail Mary is a blessed dew
that falls from Heaven upon souls of the predestinate. It
gives them a marvelous spiritual fertility, so they can grow

(50:03):
in all the virtues. The more the garden of a
soul is watered by this prayer, the more enlightened one's
intellect becomes, the more zealous his heart, the stronger his
armor against spiritual enemies. Think about Padre Pio. He prays
seventeen eighteen nineteen rosaries a day while in the confessional.
That's why he could touch souls. The hail Mary is

(50:25):
a sharp and flaming shaft, which, joined to the word
of God, gives the preacher the strength to pierce, move
and convert the most hardened hearts, even if he has
little or no natural gift of preaching. Here is a

(50:46):
beautiful explanation of the holy of hail Mary by Saint
Louis de Montfort. It's in the chapter called the twentieth ros.
Are you in a miserable state of sin, Then call
on the devil Mary, and say to her ave, which
means iolute thee with the most profound respect, you who

(51:07):
are without sin, and she will deliver you from the
evil of your sins. Are you groping in darkness of
ignorance and error? Go to Mary. Say to her, Hail Mary,
which means hail you, who are bathed in the light
of the Son of Justice, and she will give you
some of her light. Have you strayed from the path

(51:28):
leading to heaven, Then call on Mary. For her name
means Star of the Sea, the north star that guides
the ships of our souls during the voyage of this life.
She will guide you to the harbor of eternal salvation.
Are you in sorrow? Turn to Mary, for her name
also means the sea of bitterness, which has been filled

(51:52):
with the sharp pain in this world, but is now
turned into the sea of purest joy in heaven. She
will turn your sorrow to joy and your afflictions into consolation.
Have you lost a state of grace? Praise and honor
the numberless graces with which God has filled the Blessed Virgin,

(52:14):
Say to her, you, who are full of grace, filled
with all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. She will
give you some of those graces. Are you alone having
lost God's protection? Pray to Mary and say, the Lord
is with thee. This union is far nobler and more
intimate than that which He has with his saints. And

(52:36):
just because you are one with him, he is your son,
and his flesh is your flesh. You are united to
the Lord because of your perfect likeness to him by
your mutual love, for you are his mother. And then
say to her, the three persons of the Godhead are
with you, because you are the temple of the most

(52:57):
blessed Trinity. She will play you once more under the
protection and the care of the Almighty God. Have you
become an outcast? Have you been accursed by God? Then
say to our lady, blessed are you among women? Blessed
above all nations. By your purity and fertility. You have

(53:19):
turned God's maledictions into blessings for us. She will bless you.
Do you hunger for the bread of grace and the
bread of life, Draw near to her who bore the
living bread which came down from Heaven. Say to her
Blessed be the fruit of your womb, You who have
conceived without the slightest loss of your virginity, You who

(53:42):
carried without discomfort, and who gave birth without pain. Blessed
be Jesus, who has redeemed our suffering world when we
were in the bondage of sin, who has healed the
world of its sickness, who has raised the dead to life,
brought home the banished, restored sinners to a life of grace,

(54:02):
who has saved men from damnation. Without doubt, your soul
will be filled with the bread of grace in this
life and of eternal glory in the next. Amen. What

(54:22):
are these fifteen mysteries that we pray in the rosary?
A mystery is a sacred thing that's difficult to understand.
The works of our Lord Jesus Christ are all sacred
and divine because he is both God and man one
at the same time. The works of the Blessed Virgin
are also holy because she is the most perfect and

(54:44):
pure of God's creatures. The works of our Lord and
his blessed Mother can rightly be called mysteries because they're
so full of wonders and all kinds of perfections and
deep and sublime truths which the Holy Spirit revealed to
the humble and simple souls who honor these mysteries. The

(55:05):
works of Jesus and Mary can also be called wonderful flowers,
but their perfume and beauty can only be appreciated by
those who study them carefully, by those who open them
and drink in their scent. By diligent and sincere meditation,
Saint Dominic divided up the lives of our Lord and

(55:28):
our Lady into fifteen mysteries, which stand for their virtues
and their utmost actions. These are the fifteen pictures of
every detail that rules and inspires our lives. They are
the fifteen flaming torches to guide our steps through the
earthly life. They are the fifteen shining mirrors which help

(55:52):
us to know Jesus and Mary to know ourselves well.
They also help light the fire of their love and
our hearts. They are the fifteen fiery furtices that consume
us completely in their heavenly flames. These are the fifteen
fragrant flowers of the mystical rose tree divined. Devout souls

(56:16):
fly to them like wise bees, so as to gather
their nectar and make the honey of solid devotion. You know,
at the beginning, at the end of the eighteen hundreds,
the beginning of the nineteen hundreds, it was like eighteen.
I want to say ninety eight, but I might be wrong.
Pope Leo the thirteenth had a vision of Satan who

(56:37):
asked the Lord for one hundred years to conquer humanity,
and the Lord allowed Satan to have greater power because
the ending of his rule was coming. And Pope Leo
the thirteenth wrote the Saint Michael Prayer in response to that.

(56:58):
But we see throughout nineteen hundreds and now into the
twenty first century, the evils upon Earth are greater than
any time before. The abominations. Look at the world wars,
Look at the spread of communism and atheism, and now
in our age, new age witchcrafts outright satanism. Look at

(57:20):
the abomination of abortion, Look at the sins of homosexuality
and gender issues, where where people are mutilating children and
marriage the marriage bed is being defiled. Look at pornography,
the trafficking of children, and the abuse. And in this

(57:45):
time of great evil, our Lady has appeared over and
over again in ways unprecedented before to small children, asking
them to pray the Rosary, to fast, to go to Mass.
And so Pope Saint John Paul the Second the Great

(58:06):
wrote this incredible and cyclical on the Rosary, trying to
revive it. He prayed the Rosary daily, and he did
not stop at representing the fifteen mysteries given to Saint
Dominic but he added another set of five mysteries. Where
you have fifteen shining mirrors, right, fifteen fiery furnaces, now

(58:32):
we have twenty. He beefed up our artillery. He gave
us five more mysteries of the luminous mysteries, so that
by praying twenty mysteries of the Rosary, greater enemies of
evil can be conquered. It's incredible. He didn't give us

(58:54):
a new devotion. He brought back to life this most powerful,
full devotion of praying the Holy Rosary, which honor is
our Lady, but also calls upon her intercession for the
world revelation. The Book of Revelation says that it's our

(59:14):
lady who will crush the head of Satan. Saint Luis
de Monfort says, I would like to give you more
reasons of embracing this devotion of the Rosary, which so
many great souls have practiced. They by praying the Rosary daily,

(59:39):
these marvelous results happen. Number One, it gradually gives us
a perfect knowledge of Jesus Christ. Two, it purifies our soul,
washing away sin. If you have mortal sin, yes you
still have to go to confession, but it helps you
to go to confession. It helps you see your sin
to have perfect CONTRITIONI for that sin to not repeat it.

(01:00:04):
It washes away those effects of sin that are residual,
that weakness we have, even if we're forgiven. It rightly
orders our hearts towards God. The Holy Rosary. Number three
gives us victory over our enemies. Number four, it makes
it easy for us to practice virtue. Number five it

(01:00:27):
sets us on fire with the love of our blessed Lord.
And no Verse six, it enriches us with graces and merits. Seven,
it supplies us with what is needed to pay all
of our debts to God and our fellow men. And finally,
it obtains all kinds of graces for us from Almighty God.

(01:00:53):
These are the beautiful effects of saying the Holy Rosary.
Our Lady and Fatima said, say the Rosary every day
to obtain peace for the world. Pope Pius A six,
in his encyclical on the month of May, urged Christians

(01:01:17):
to pray to our Lady, Queen of Peace, for world peace.
He said about the Rosary, that this is the prayer
so dear to our Lady and so highly recommended by
all of the Supreme pontiffs the popes. Pope Pius the
twelfth said, there is no sure means of calling down

(01:01:37):
God's blessings upon a family than the daily recitation of
the Holy Rosary. There's no reason you shouldn't be praying
it daily in your family. Father Patrick Peyton said, if
families would but listen to my message and give our
Lady ten minutes of their twenty four hours by reciting
the daily family Rosary, I assure them that their homes

(01:02:01):
will become, by God's grace, peaceful, prayerful places, little heavens,
which God, the author of the home life, has intended
they should be. Pope Leo the thirteenth, who had that
vision of Satan, said, a powerful means of renewing our
courage will undoubtedly be found in praying the Holy Rosary.

(01:02:22):
He also said, we have elsewhere brought it to the
attention of the devout Christian that not least among the
advantages of the Rosary is the ready means it puts
in the hands to nurture his faith, to keep all
souls from ignorance of religion and danger of error. It
preserves us from following false teachings. Right there's so many

(01:02:47):
of them in the church and out of the church.
Pope Hius the twelfth said the Rosary will heal the
evils of our day. He said, we do not hesitate
to affirm again publicly that we put great confidence in
the Holy Rosary for the healing of the evils that
afflict our times. Pope John the twenty third said it

(01:03:10):
would be a means of Christian perfection. He said, therefore,
we're sure that our lady and all their brethren throughout
the world, that our children and all their brethren throughout
the world, will turn the Rosary into a school for
learning true perfection. As with a deep spirit of recollection,

(01:03:31):
they contemplate the teachings that shine forth from the life
of Christ and marry Most Holy. A great military leader
of World War Two, Marshall Fowk said that he thought
the only reason that he succeeded in his vocation was
the Rosary. He said, I think that I did not

(01:03:52):
miss a single day in reciting the Rosary, including the
most terrible times of battle, when I had no rest
day or night. How often did I see Our Lady
manifest intercession in the decisions that I made in choosing
a precise tactic take, Then the advice of an old
soldier seizoned by experience, do not neglect the recitation of

(01:04:18):
the Rosary for any mean, for any reason. Popeious the
Ninth said, the Rosary is a powerful way of obtaining
any grace you need from God. Among all the devotions
approved by the Church, none has been favored by so
many miracles as a devotion to the most holy Rosary.

(01:04:40):
And Bishop Hugh Boyle said we should pray it for
final perseverance before death. Those who say the Rosary fervently
and frequently will gradually grow in grace and holiness, and
will enjoy the special protection of Our Lady and the
abiding friendship of God. No one can live continually in

(01:05:01):
sin and continue to say the Rosary. Either he will
give up sin or he will give up the Rosary.
And lastly, I want to end this podcast by sharing
with you what I have marked out here the fifteen
promises given to those who pray the Rosary. These were

(01:05:23):
given to Saint Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roque.
This should encourage you to join me, or even just
individually in the car while you're driving, or you know,
in the morning when you hit snooze, to lay there
and to pray a Rosary. You want to sleep an
extra fifteen minutes, stay in bed, don't get up and

(01:05:45):
get that coffee, but pray a Rosary while you're laying there.
Number one, whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation
of the Rosary will receive signal graces, our Lady said.
Number two, I promise my special protection and the greatest
graces to all those who recite my Rosary. Number three,

(01:06:10):
the Rosary will be a powerful armor against hell. It
will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat all heresy. Number four,
the Rosary will cause virtue and good works to flourish.
It will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God,

(01:06:31):
and it will withdraw the heart of men from the
love of the world and its vanities, and it will
lift them to a desire for eternal things. Oh, that
souls would sanctify themselves by these means. Number five, our
lady said, the soul that recommends itself to her by
the recitation of the Rosary will not perish. Number six.

(01:06:57):
Whoever shall recite the Rosary de devoutly, applying himself to
the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered
by misfortune. God will not chastise him and his justice.
He will not die and unprovided for death. If he
be just, he will remain in the grace of God

(01:07:19):
and become worthy of eternal life. Number seven. Whoever shall
have a true devotion for the Rosary will not die
without the sacraments of the Church. Number eight those who
are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their
life and at their death the light of God the

(01:07:40):
plenitude of His grace, And at the moment of death,
they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.
Number nine, I shall deliver from purgatory all those who
have been devoted to the Rosary. Number ten, the faithful
children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of

(01:08:00):
glory in heaven. Number eleven, You shall obtain all you
ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary. So
if you pray online we always list all of those
intentions at the beginning. Then you probably have a long
list in your own heart too. Our Lady promised that
you shall obtain all you ask of me by the

(01:08:23):
recitation of the Rosary. Number twelve. All those who propagate
the Holy Rosary shall be aided by Me and their necessities.
Number thirteen. I have obtained from my divine son that
all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors
the entire celestial Court during their life and at the

(01:08:44):
hour of death. Number fourteen, all who recite the Rosary
are my son and brothers of my only son, Jesus Christ.
And number fifteen. Devotion of my Rosary is a great
sign of predestination. When I started my Facebook Rosary Live,

(01:09:07):
one hundred thousand people were praying with me every day,
no joke. And then Facebook started clabbering down and Satan
had so much spiritual warfare. I don't even know how many.
Now they don't put a number up. It's probably only
a few thousand, but it's also up on YouTube on
Rumball all sorts of places, and the numbers themselves don't matter.

(01:09:31):
What matters is that those who are truly devoted to
the Rosary are praying it somehow somewhere. But people loved
the prayers that I would pray in addition, and so
that's when I originally published this book, Mornings with Mary,
a Rosary prayer book. If you're looking for the prayers
of the Rosary and extra prayers to go along with it,

(01:09:52):
this is the one I recommend. I have everything you
can imagine in these pages, so you can get this.
It's available on Amazon, and if for some reason you
can't afford it and you're dying for this book, contact me.
I'll send you one if you're in the United States.
I'm not always able to send it outside. But we
have this book translated into many languages, and the cool

(01:10:15):
thing is we translated it into Ordu in Pakistan and
Dary for Afghanistan. This is the first time the Rosary
was ever praved in their native language. The people never
had learned it. It's the first time the Saint Michael
prayer or the extra Consecration prayers or the litanys that
are included in here were prayed in those areas of

(01:10:36):
the world. So in and of itself, it's a very
powerful book because it's reached places where people still hadn't
learned the Rosary. But I invite you to get this
book Mornings with Mary and as well. The Secret of
the Rosary by Saint Louis to Montfort was only a
small portion of the wisdom he shares in this book

(01:10:59):
about praying the Holy Rosary. Here at the end, I'd
like to just end with the song to our Lady,
the Mother and the Queen of Peace. I haven't played
this in years. I forgot to try it. Okay, I'm

(01:11:44):
gonna try it. Dearest Mother, we.

Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Hello, God's beloved. I'm Annabel Moseley, Author, Professor of the
al and host of then Sings My Soul and Destination

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose.
