Let's begin with the 'Perpetual Drought' that Oregon State Climatologist Larry O'Neill declared about three weeks ago. ' Perpetual' meant three weeks. Portland set daily record rainfalls on Saturday and Sunday, with the total coming close to twice normal for the entire month of September. Mother Nature has a tremendous sense of humor, especially when it comes to "the experts" at OSU who claim to understand her. O'Neill has been completely silent, refusing to answer emails.
