(02:22):
You know, before we get intoit with Lisa Ray, what do
you think about that when you lookat how we started five years ago with
this particular brand and showman, whatdo you what have you saw in the
journey as we got to this twohundred episode? Well, the first thing
I think about is how little grayhair I had when I met you and
how much gray hair? Okay, thing you say, but it's been a
(02:58):
great journey, man. You knowhow our journey uh started together? Perfect
correct, And it's it's been agood it's been a good journey. It's
been a been a good ride manand good friendship. Jeff is one of
those people that Jeff is one ofthose people that he makes you want to
choke him sometimes, but but youknow he got your back, so yeah,
(03:23):
will make you want to joke him. But but I long he owns
it, you know what I'm saying. You know what you know what Cock
calls me, Coco calls me alovable oh, and that's what she calls.
(03:44):
Oh okay, I'm gonna have toyou might use that one. Yeah,
she called it, so I listen, I wear well, I wear
proudly. So that's what it is. That definitely, it's been a it's
been a it's been a good journeyman, a good ride and looking forward to
the next man. So congratulations.I appreciate that. Man. You know,
(04:06):
most people don't know Darvel was influentialin me getting in to broadcast and
getting my first internship. So he'sactually watched the progression of my broadcasting career
and he's been on it every stepof the way. So big shout out
to you, Darvo. And Iwant to ask something, you know,
(04:28):
because on you a little while myself. Now, okay, okay, from
the other side of this, Isay that, you know, two hundred
episodes, that's big, you knowwhat I mean? And that means that
you've had to display some type ofskill level to be able to keep it
going, to keep people entertained,to keep them engaged, to be able
to have guests that they like andwant to see so they can tune into
(04:53):
you. So you know, thisis a fan base thing too, you
know, what I mean, theymust be feeling you. You're doing something
right to be able to say twohundred clubs. So my hat's off to
you. Congratulations and keep doing you, y'all, Keep doing y'all. I
appreciate that. You know, Godis good. God is good. You
(05:13):
know, we continue to work.We just want to get better and we
want to do this thing for anothertwo hundred episode. I don't know how
old I'm gonna be on that twohundred episode, but you know, I'm
looking forward to five years. I'llbe forty eight, So Darville, that's
the goal man, forty eight, four hundred episode, you know. But
but with that said, I don'twant to be rude. Lisa Ray McCoy
(05:36):
in the building, y'all already norfrom the Classic Movie Players Club, Damon
said on the way off, alwaysin white curious she want to be and
I ain't. And she's not bucketnaked. Wow. But anyway, how
(05:57):
you been, how have you beensince? Ask Ti visited with me on
this show? You know life thenyou had a hold of me and I
had it by the horns, Andjust like any other kind of ride,
you know, it's like a rollercoaster. You know, you got to
get for the things that's gonna happen, the things you don't know what's gonna
happen, and the things that knockyou down. You know what I mean.
It's life. I think it's theway you approach life is and how
(06:18):
you live life is what's gonna giveyou that longevity. And I tend to
be able to take life by thehorns. I really love and enjoy living.
I did you know, um,you know bury my mom just recently
about I'm ago now and so that'syou know, I'm healing and still grieving,
you know, and it's still acceptingthat. That's why I'm at But
(06:40):
it's things like this and ask likethis that allowed me to come out of
that stage, to go to thenext stage, to say, let me
show up, you know what Imean, and you allow me to go
out. So you're sharing your platformwith me. I appreciate that you could
have called anybody, but you gotme, you know, so I'm yeah,
let me tell you why I calledyou. Okay, you know,
(07:02):
for a little while I've known you. You just real and I feel like
you come from well I mean thegutter, not gutter, but I'm saying
you come from an organic beginning, right, and so you understand this,
this journey of building from nothing thatmakes sense and and so for me to
(07:27):
have you, it's big. Youknow. Um, there were some people
that I thought could flip the bill, but God made it too where you
were the white person for it.And I thought about this person. I
thought about that person, and I'mlike, you know what, let me
reach out to my girl and seeum. And you know, and I
started not to because I know you'vebeen in this season, but I said,
(07:50):
you know what, let me justtry because I understand. You know,
sometimes people might say yes and somepeople might say no. But even
if you said no, I muststill love you almost. I still got
nothing but love faith. And that'sthe thing people don't realize to see you
the example, oh only only thingto fail is what is that? What's
(08:11):
that saying? Uh son about thefailure as a trial tried? Yeah?
Yeah, so you you you wentout there. I was like, I
ain't got nothing else to lose.I Did she say no, okay?
Cool? Did she say yeah, all right, yeah, you know,
yeah, don't waste that relationship, don't waste that time. Go ahead out
there and do your thing. Askfor what you need to ask for,
grab what you got to grab, and get what you got forget. Yeah,
(08:33):
yeah, yeah, I just Iwas like, man, I just
you know, I just felt likeyou were the perfect you know person to
help me celebrate, you know, with me and darbyon and Coco who will
be on shortly. And I justthank you. So now, how have
you outside of you know, dealingwith the passion of your mom and you
(08:54):
know, my condolences to you andyour family. Um, how have you
been able to manage this career, this wonderful career you have and still dealing
with this and still being Lisa RayMcCoy and still happened to go home and
still be you when you know, when the cameras are often, you know,
(09:15):
because a lot of people deal withgriefs differently, and they some people
stop living when they're dealing with grief. How have you been able to just
keep living? How have you thoughtthat way? Very slowly? You know
time, you know, because youknow, I have had a rally of
people around me that said, youknow, take your time and no no
(09:39):
rush for anything. Because I'm originallyfrom Chicago, so I my mom has
been with me for the last fourand a half years. Yes, hadn't
been back to Chicago house that long. So going back to that house and
rediscovering fifty years of history of howlong we've been in that house. I
was in that house, was inthat house my granddaughter, you know what
I mean. So it was whoa, you know what I mean. So
(10:01):
it hit me, but I justsat in it because what you sit in
is your own stuff, and yougot to be able to look around because
I'm the one to have to dealwith it all, you know what I
mean, And I took it in. I cry when I had to cry.
What people don't realize though, isthat when my mom was here,
I was a caretaker before she passed, so I was a bit heavy even
before this happened. I knew thiswas happening. I knew it was coming.
(10:24):
You could never prepare for it,of course, but I absolutely when
people say to you, you know, she in a better place, and
then first you want to go tohell with that. You know the circumstances,
she really is in a better place, and so I know that.
So I try to think about thatmore and not be selfish and say that
what she not here for me?Because I'm the one left behind here and
I'm feeling this when I'm crying.Make no mistake about it. I didn't
(10:46):
looked in the mirror and said,Yep, I got a couple of more
gray hairs. Yep, my eyesare sinking in my head. Yep,
I'm dehydrated. Yep, I ain'teight. I lost three pounds, and
three pounds was good though, Iwas, I was, I was loving
it. Look, you know whatI mean. My swommach went in my
breastles out. I was like, yeah, I like you, but I
got an angel, you know, another after me, And there's things like
(11:11):
this and opportunities like this that's allowingme to show up and to be able
to even you know, with themakeup and stuff. There can be a
certain amount of sadness behind somebody's eyes. But I know that my mother know
I worked, that I'm anna workerholic, that I'm still striving. I'm not
where I want to be. Youknow what I mean. I'm I'm okay,
(11:33):
I'm successful, I'm accomplished. Ifeel tons of gratitude, but at
the same time, it's like, hey, I'm going through some things.
So if I happen to break outin a hymn and a hum and a
crop. Y'all just roll along withme and be like, I'm gonna pray
for it. That's what it is, you know what I mean? But
in then that's up and down, you know. Wow? Let me ask
you a question. What I knowyour mom has poured so much inteth What
(11:58):
is something that you can share withus as advice for life that your mom
gave you sack and help us?Absolutely, It's what I'm going through right
now. We all gonna get older. We all got to figure out what
our life is gonna look like whenwe get older. Who's gonna take care
of us, where we're gonna be, how are we gonna live? How
(12:20):
much money we got we're saving upnow? When I was taking care of
all of my mother's business to upto this time, like the living trust
and our property and being able toput this in my name and to be
able to secure certain things, andwhat's the best way. So what I'm
the You know, if I'm theonly child and I got to go to
probrate, what does that mean? What does that look like? You know
what I mean? What do Ihave to pay taxes on what money that
(12:43):
she leaves me? And what's thecapital game like it? She was educating
me. That made me say,do I have my stuff together? Let
me I got to know the combinationof my sake and knows where then what
the paperwork is, and let memake sure that my life insurance policy ain't
laughing and I'm not gonna lose itand ain't gonna keep growing as I grow,
because when you get older that thatpremium gets more and more and more.
(13:05):
You know, you can get lifeterm, life insurance, living life,
you know, and just really takingcare of the business of how you're
going to live when you get olderhas been very huge for me. Compassion
is the next thing because my motherand I we always did this. But
when she was here, I understoodthat she just wanted to be heard.
(13:28):
She was like, from what youknew as a child, let me tell
you what that really means as anadult. Let me show you how I
sacrifice. When I said that, you know, I stayed here with your
father to make sure that you gotan education. I stayed doing it.
And it was like at first,it was like, okay, so does
that have the other woman when you'reyoung? But she was like, when
you become a woman, you're gonnalive differently and you're gonna think differently.
(13:50):
And all I'm trying to let youknow is is to be ahead of the
game instead of behind. And sometimeat your age, when you ain't mature
or you ain't even focused on that, you missed, You miss it go
over your head. But with herbeing here, I got it. It
clicked. It gave me more compassion. It gave me more understanding and more
clarity to be able to live andlove her more and deeper. And i
(14:13):
have no guilt, none at all. So I'm really glad about that.
I'm really glad that we mended everything. I said what I had to say.
She was saying, We lived, you know, that's important. I
didn't want to be on the outswith her, So I'm king about that.
Wow, that's that's a major.So all y'all listening, Lisa Rayers
drops her major jams. Get yourhouse in order and half compassion for your
(14:37):
loved ones and those that are aroundyou, and data brings you great success.
Listen, we don't be fight backbecause hey, what do you say
that? Listen, We'll be rightback with my girl, Lisa ray McCoy.
And guess what we still celebrate twoon an episode, so we'll be

or wherever you get your podcasts. This is the Jeff Brown Show and we're
back. We're back. We're backwith the lovely and the beautiful and talented
Lisa Ray McCoy dropping on the gems, helping me celebrate this two hundredth episode.
(15:50):
This is a big, big,big showy so ay Lisa Ray.
So I was thinking about it todayand Darvo, I was thinking about you,
because uh, we've our podcasts alonghas reached some amazing heights where we're
like through Uh. One of themain um charitable digests is one of the
(16:14):
main um entities that track who's streamingthe show. And we've been blessed,
I think, DARVYO, we've beenblessed to hit every major category in the
top two hundred just through Apple Podcasts. We're in the top four hundred for
black culture. Uh for for thepodcast your show too, Darvo is in
(16:37):
the top one hundred for black culture. So um. And then we just
as a collaborative, we all justhit over a million streams together through FCB.
So I'm thinking about this stuff todayand I thought about you, DARVYO,
because you said I was a badinfluence on them kids that was listening
to the show. Um, Iforget what country that was, but I
(17:02):
think I was like in the topten for like three we Yeah, it
was a it was a. Itwas an African country. I believe.
I can't know what country that was. I can't remember which one it was.
And all it was you was like, what poison are you giving these
kids? Because it was it waskids that was dumb. It was yeah,
(17:26):
because he was like chartening like inthe kids section, Like what I
was? What do you think wassaying I was? I was saying a
lot. Probably I can't you knowwhat Lisa rays. When I talk,
(17:47):
I try to say what I'm gonnasay, and I try not to remember
it if I can, because Isay a lot of I say a lot
of stuff from time you too, know, and so, um, you
know, I thought about the umthe Leader Rashane Summer the Summer Leader Rashine
(18:12):
and how that went down with usdarball with me. You know, yeah
it was you, you did itwas it was me. It was me.
So I've had a great journey,so I've uh been able to uh
really celebrate. But you know, yes, I just you know what in
(18:33):
your celebration, what are some ofthe best gifts that you feel like you
had that just really came through? And you know, I'm glad you asked
that. Um, so best guestsI've had, of course you. Um,
I'm gonna tell you a secret whichI already tell all my guests.
You and Kim Whitley and I believe, uh I think Reverend Jesse Jackson were
(18:56):
the top three shows to chart onour Spotify our Spotify platform. Oh yeah
no yeah, our inner yeah, your interview, Um, and got a
lot of love out here, yeahyeah, yeah yeah yeah. So um
(19:19):
Coco Brown who's now my um myco host the Lovely Coco Brown. She
she just came on, she justlogged it. Um top guest you,
Kim Whitley, DC, Young Fly, Um Jay Anthony Brown, far A
Gray. Um. Who else havewe had? Vernet Watson a great interview?
(19:45):
Um we've had? Um who else? I mean we've been We've been
blessed. And when I say that, I said so humbly because I'm not
with Radio one. I'm not withall these major conglomerate of companies. Right,
(20:07):
it says us, it's urt,you know, it's DARBYA, it's
myself. We've been able to vealsomething that is so strong and it's relevant.
You know, you google the JeffBrown. You google Jeff Brown,
it comes up, Jeff Brown.Let me Brown is what you just you
know, came up. And I'mthinking about sh let me start a little
bit of it. So go ahead. What artists are entertainer or guests have
(20:33):
you had that you had to likeinterview them like pulling teeth like they wasn't
so entertaining, Like I want tosay, I'm gonna put you in that
spot. But what's the ones thatso I got one? O Lord I'm
gonna say, I'm gonna say RolandMartin, Roland Martin, Yeah, he
(20:59):
was, he was. He wasmy wrong Darvio. He was one.
No, you're not. And I'veinterviewed I've interviewed him too on my shows.
He's very smart. He's very intelligent, very intelligent, but very intelligent,
super arrogant. Oh yeah, yeah, that's why I don't think did
he get very political and politician onyou? And yeah it's almost like yeah,
(21:21):
you know, you know you asking, hey man, what do you
think about you know, Joe?Yeah, well you know it is what
it is? You know, Imean if that, I'm like, okay,
bro. So it was one ofthose things. And uh a local
celebrity here uh here in Cleveland. Her name is uh Sabrina uh Sabrina Parr.
(21:45):
She was with she used to bewith Lamar Oldham right correct. Yeah,
that was an interview, a trainwreck of an interview as a train
I just think it was more.I think I was like, that was
the lady that was the trainer, right he still is she still? Yeah?
(22:07):
So she? Um. I thinkshe was cool. I just wanted
I thought I could pull her.Sometimes the interviewer can can really grab you
As an interview. We end andI think I'm pretty good with that.
Right. We just couldn't get her, You just couldn't. Just was one
(22:29):
of them. It just didn't work, just didn't work out. Game spilling
all over the place. Yeah youSo let me just say, how Lisa
Ray, how you doing? What? Mommy duty back? So I know
(22:52):
for real, I'm here. Howare you doing? Beautiful? You gay
girl? I'm good. You knowI could complain, but ain't nobody gonna
listen to that a loan. Justgo on alone, life exactly, keep
it moving, keep it moving.I will have to say that the interview
that had me kind of uncomfortable wasthat one with doctor Umar um Oh.
You know, I felt I feltlike my womanhood was being tested, my
(23:18):
black woman being testing out, butJohn out from biding what we were talking
about. So doctor umar Johnson,he does give a great interview, but
sometimes his interviews he goes deep.He just goes like, you know,
(23:41):
he's very um passive aggressive when itcomes to black women. I feel like
y'all need to have a different showyou're talking about to pull out game.
He go deep, what are youreally talking about? Right? Come on,
you know what I mean, you'regonna you're gonna hang out with us
on that shown. Hey, meand Darbio have known all along what Jeff
(24:06):
really want to be saying. Yes, okay, don't take your drink,
don't take you a drink, toy'all, to y'all. Right, But
yeah, Coker did get a littleuncomfortable. Oh she definitely did. Dang,
(24:26):
my black womanhood was gonna be attacked. And you know me, Jeff,
you know, I know, Iknow who this this is Jeff's show,
and um act like you know thewoman that he just summons you may
speak. I just it was veryit was just it was it was a
(24:48):
little tits. Yeah, Coco waskinda like quiet on that interview. I
was just in there like Okay,I'm just gonna be hush. I'm somebody
and somebody shut and shut down.Yeah, soudy. I because I knew
I had to pick my battles girl, because I knew if I went where
I wanted to go, it wouldhave been ugly. And I didn't want
(25:10):
the show to go that way.I was trying to be a team place.
I got your listen, I gotyour back. We're good, We're
charging so we're good. We willcharging. Probably if we was down in
the dumps, I would have probablybe like Coco, but you know what
we up there. That means hegiven you permission to next time fire away.
Yeah, yeah, we're good.I was like brad Um, Hey,
(25:37):
Cocoa, you ain't gotta worry aboutme. It's Daria you gotta worry
about. Because Darry the one whoget gray hair that we do stuff.
So it's Darby ain't no weed,it's you don't want That's what happened.
Yeah, message hairline up, Wellwhat you really can't move it or put
(26:03):
anything on it for like forty eighthours. It has to you know,
you can't taraze. So ay LisaRace. So what's new? What kind
of new projects you got? Becausehe was doing the dating show right Yeah.
(26:26):
TV one has a new show calledAsking for a Friend. I'm the
host of It's a dating show andtwo of your best friends come together and
try to, you know, hookyou up with your boot, you know,
two double datings on the same day. And it's been you know great,
it's been fun. Uh, it'sa universal topic. Everybody looking for
love. I know I am,you know what I mean, And I
want to give love, you knowwhat I mean. So I think it's
(26:48):
very cute and it's very you know, um, it's very common to be
able to talk about something that youcan talk about like the side of your
hand. So when they called meand said we won't you to host it,
it was like, whatever do youmean? But it was a great
bit. I've worked with TV onebefore on my first reality show, Lisa
Ray The Real McCoy. I havea relationship over there. I sold my
(27:10):
first directorial debut to them, soyou know, TV one is like family
to me. So it's an easyshow. It's a fun show, you
know. I have other you know, ideas for the show to get bigger
and better, you know, overseason after season. So I'm already called
for a second season, you knowwhat I mean. My show still on
bt UM Family Business. Yeah greatas well. I'm leaving next month to
(27:33):
Italy to do a film. It'sum a film called Lunar Lockdown where I
played the Wharton to the prison onthe moon, So go figure that's sad
fi. So I'm excited about that. Come over the side, don't look
like yourself and they're gonna make youlike green or something. Uh. I
(27:55):
can't give it away. But there'sa parasite that enters your body and it
takes over your body. So that'sgonna happen. I know that I got
some fight scene. You know whatI mean. I called it talking about
hitting. I just I like that, you know what I mean? Just
you know a jam boy, youknow what I mean that. I just
I need some of that, especiallyright now. So I'm gonna get some
(28:17):
of that off and and and dothat and come on back and you know,
talk about it with y'all further.Yeah, yeah, we definitely want
to hear about that. I've seenyour right hood. I've seen it in
I've seen it in your first uhsituation. Oh yeah, you got I
mean right up, think women likeyou didn't make it hard for women like
me. I still do this, but I did that get bad. I'm
(28:41):
gonna beat your ass. How doyou use gotta have the finger? It
don't mean not to lets you usethat finger? Wow about you? I
love it. I love it.Well. You know, all good things
must come to an end real quick. I know, got like meb a
minute left, um because I knowour guests. She got so much going
(29:03):
on cocktails with Queens. Yes,okay, now that show, let's talk
about it. When when does itair? And when and when does the
uh the the Dating Show air?Talk about that so we can get plugged
in and follow you and get allget all that stuff, lead that information.
The Dating Show. You came bya time. The Dating Show is
(29:25):
every Thursday night at eight pm onTV one, a brand. And then
you have Cocktails with Queens, whichis my you know um talk show if
you will on Fox Soul with ClaudiaJordan's, Selena Johnson and Vivica Fox and
myself and we talk about all thingstrending, all things gossipy, and we
(29:48):
also put our personal life on theline. We have great interviews as well,
and we just have It's a veryopinionated show on different levels because we're
all different and we're all very strongwomen. So you get it chance and
an opportunity to year different perspectives. And I'm a real perspective person, like
how you look at things, howyou gauge, and how you check yourself.
So it's been exciting for me.It started out as a pandemic job
(30:11):
and it gave us a reason toget cute and put some makeup on one
and now here we are in ourfourth season, you know, and we're
charting too. Baby. Oh look, oh, I'm beautiful women on that
show. I can't see y'all mychart. Okay, I'm finding you with
the white and should be only me. But okay, ain't gonna be selfish.
But it's so funny you would saythat because every time I wear all
(30:33):
right, why you can ask myone of my best friends. She was
saying, I will literally get inthe car and be like, girl,
I feel like Lisa re all whiteeverything that's people they see me, they
go, oh my god, youreally do all white all the time.
I was like, yeah, it'sbeen twenty years. You know, you
started a trend. I call ityou know much styles. But you were
away. I said, you'll giveme some Lisa Ray, give me some
(30:55):
white white. They never looked sogood, safe, you and clean.
I love Queens and Cocktails. Istarted following it and watching it during the
pandemic, and I have to say, out of all the talk shows,
I love, love, love thetransparency because I know all of you are
queens in your own right, withyour own accolades and accomplishments. But y'all
(31:18):
keep it so real, and Ilove that. You know, it's it's
no you know, nobody's don't knowEgo, Tim, you know, everybody's
just transparent and real. I reallyreally appreciate that. And every now and
then I have to readjust my crownsometime what I mean. And I'm actually
learning a lot through the show andlearning more about me. If even if
it's things that I've said that Igo, oh, I didn't mean to
(31:40):
say that, or it's more tothat, or let me keep my mouth
clothes. I'm knowing how to holdand win the fold. That's very important
as well. So I've learned alot of things about myself because it's not
all about Lisa Ray said. It'slike Lisa Ray said, would now you
know what I mean? And soif I'm going to control that, let
me be the one to do justthat. So I like it for what
it is. It's it does well, the people love it, and until
(32:04):
I stop having fun, then youknow, I'm gonna be right there.
All right, y'all already here first, the lovely Lisa Ray McCoy joint us
for the two hundred episode of TheJeff Brown Show with hey listen, we
know you gotta go, but youknow I love you, God loves you.
(32:27):
Let Lisa right, y'all doing y'allthing seriously, So I would say,
keep it just above book like y'alldoing, keeping it real, being
able to have people shine, usingyour platform to allow them to do so,
and and just you know me,even just being here and just building
relationships, because this is what thisgotta be about as well. We can't
just do this and be talking totalk and not have relationships and be able
(32:51):
to call somebody on the phone andsay hey, just like you and I
Joe, you know what I mean. You call me when my mom passed
and you reached out to me,you know what I mean, and that
meant a lot to me. Andthen you checked on me even afterwards,
so that ain't unnoticed. I appreciatedmy heart, adore you for it,
and you got a new friend inme for always you two Coco, thank
(33:13):
you, say thank you much, love you more. Listen, We'll be
right back with more of the JeffBrown Show. Is a Jeff Brown Ship

her energy is amazing and um andshe's just so relevant. You know,
(33:35):
Um, she's just relevant all Imean, just always got some great going
and that's just lovely way. She'salways transparent, you know what I'm saying.
As as all. You know, you can always tell when another female's
on some other. But she isjust really real all the way to the
core. Like like I can't sayit on the air, but I with
(33:57):
her for life, like I loveher. I love her sup real,
it's real. Yeah. Hey,why did DARBYO say that interview was a
total trash? It was? Iwasn't. No, you wouldn't never what
made it so trash? DARBYA.I didn't. I didn't say it was
trash. It was a train difference. It was just it was right,
(34:25):
it wasn't. It wasn't trash. It was a train wreck. Yeah,
it was a trade wreck. It'sdifference, you know, trash. You
know, you could clear that up. But I think that was around the
time. It was either I thinkthat was around the time something was in
the news with her and lamar oldhim, or it was something that was
trending and she was just broke up. I want to talk about it.
(34:47):
Why did you even come on aninterview? Right? But right, even
though we actually talked about that thoughdid we talk. He was just she
was on one. She was completelyuncooperative with you, like, completely uncooperative.
Just pay me in on one andit was just it was not a
it was not a good experience. And you know, it will take my
(35:08):
good friend Lisa Ray to ask methat, because you know, I'm gonna
tell the truth. And you know, Roland Martin was cool. He was
just very Roland Martin because yeah, that's I told you my rolling story.
Oh I know, it's just Iknow, I know, and that's if
(35:30):
you Yeah, I really garnered hisrespect because I went to him woman to
man and was like, look herebro, and ever it's dead. It's
been number of yeah you know, yeah something you know you got the cohunas.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, youknow, you know, um,
(35:55):
I know, you know, beforebefore we get out of here, do
you want to touch on a couplea couple of hot topics. A man,
I want to get Coco's thought aboutbeing a part of the show,
knowing that we celebrate our t otherepisode. I just outed to be here.
I mean I was, you know, I came on the show when
I think you're around the when youwere first starting it and then you know,
(36:15):
you and I just became friends andyeah time. And then when you
came to me and said, sinceI need a co host, are you
down, I'm like absolutely, Ihim having a ball. I looked forward
to being on this show like Ilove that. Oh I love it,
but no, like I love beingon your show because you know, it's
one thing when you liked the personthat you're you know, rolling with,
(36:37):
I like the Darby or like mybrothers. So it's like I love it
here. I love it here.I can eat that funny, especially what
I'd been going through. I knowyou somewhere to coming again. Yeah,
we have fun. And you know, I think because because I met you
on Sam Silk Show. Yeah exactly, Yeah, and you was funny on
that show. You was Darby.I always tell you of my shot at
(37:00):
Cocoa. But I told her Ihad little friends and stuff Coco Like.
She just looked at me like, you're just gonna be knowledge like that up
Like yeah, yeah, she wouldhave had to kill you. Now what
I told her, I didn't chooseto kill on the team. I'd rather
be drafted, you know, toanother team. That's all. Yeah,
yeah, it's cool. Agent.I didn't want to craft. It was
(37:25):
already eight eight starters. I didn'twant it. But guess what, it
worked out. It worked out perfectlybecause guess what if it went out the
way, she may not be myco host. You know we just fell
out, Joe. You know wejust fell out every days. So are
you so you would have been myco host? You? Hey? Oh,
(37:49):
I'd have been up here angry ashell, just saying the most snide
slicked craft stuff like the weather realhere, nice to Cleveland. I bet
you don't all the time. Yeah, you have made me a party of
stand up. I'm like, youcome to Cleveland, my axe dude.
(38:13):
Y'all know, y'all know Jeff Brown, Yeah, hell me, you know
he got so he got rises inthe shoes. Oh man, Yeah,
so I'm Jeff real real quick man. Before before we move on, I
(38:34):
do want to say this also,I want to thank Coco as well for
being a part of this. I'vebeen even before I met Coco, because
she came on my show too.A couple of times. Before I met
Coco, I was I've been afan. I've been a fan for years.
I used to watch UH for Betteror Worse all the time, and
I've always I've always been a fanfan of yours. I've went and seen
you at the improv a couple oftimes too, even before we before we
(38:58):
met. Like I was a fan, I'm like a legit fan of yours,
you know what I'm saying. Andso I appreciate I appreciate being able
to work with you. I appreciateyou being a part of that. You
know what I'm saying. That thatmeans, that means a lot to me,
especially covering from somebody who was alegit fan and now a friend too.
(39:19):
So I appreciate that. Yeah, yeah, we love you, Coco.
We do. We appreciate you.I am, I am. You
know. I think about the journeyman, Darbia. We have evolved in
a great way, man, realtalk. I remember my first episode was
Valentized Day twenty eighteen, and Italked about, uh, Valentized Day.
(39:44):
I talked about how much money wasspent on about how much money spent on
Valentines, and I talked about wherethe order and of Valentine came from.
And what you don't know, JeffAndy, what you don't know is I
was absolutely miserable that day and Iwas miserable that day because probably about a
(40:07):
week or two before, I justhad a break up with the woman that
I thought I was gonna marry.Oh. So, so I was miserable
that day. So I was withall the trash. You was a lot,
Oh he was, Yeah, Iwas with a lot. I was
(40:29):
my heart, I was my heartwas so broken. And Jeff came in
being Jeff. I was with itall day, Darby. How to put
raise the blaze and chocolates? Youknow, noave this, I can't with
(40:51):
I can't with both barrels blaze. And I was really trying to cultivate the
style and what I do. Andum, you know, because we you
know, we we want to builda brand at last, you know,
um here in Cleveland. I'm youknow, I'm addressed as the Jeff Brown
show it if the brand is strong, you know, Darviel tell you,
(41:12):
I don't just say it, butwe have definitely built a phenomenal brand.
Um FCB is because it is thenumber one urban um podcasting platform in a
state of Ohio. Okay, uhand and weird over a million streams.
We're doing so when I look atthis journey, because we have really I
(41:37):
remember when Darviel hit one hundred thousandcollectively, I remember hit that. Yeah,
you know. So I'm looking atus and we're all a part of
it. Like we we we continueto put in the work and and and
just uh being consistent. So I'mjust thankful to you Coco as well.
I appreciate you and thank you.Yeah, this is dope, you know.
(42:01):
And I just look a lot ofproblem friends, and you could have
chose anybody, but you chose.Well. Let me tell you why,
Let me tell you, Let metell you why why I felt you were
the perfect situation. You were aperfect situation because you understand it. Yes,
number one. Number two, youdo you and I never get in
(42:23):
the way of you doing you.But outside of that, you allow me
to do me and you never getin a way of me doing me.
But it works, it works. It's after each other. And yeah,
like I never I never crossed intowhat you do, but yet you share
what you do on here and ithelps elevate us, and then I collab
(42:46):
with you. We do what wedo and it just makes perfect sense.
I remember when I went to Darby, I said, hey, man,
I had a conversation with Coco andshe's gonna be my new co host.
He was like, man, that'sbrilliant. Yeah, yeah, you know
we have some you know we've hadI know, Darbio has been stressing me
(43:07):
about doing you know, bringing backmy own podcast and you know, getting
it straight, you know, andmaking sure I don't have someone that wants
to do a four hour podcast.Oh wow, knows that well. But
love him clearly, But working onsomething. But you know me, Jeff,
(43:27):
and I think Darbio, you knowme, I have to be inspired.
I have to be motivated, andI have to put my all into
it. And right now, withall that I've gotten on, you know,
got going on, being a partof your show is just right for
me. I appreciate it. Welove it. We love you. Time.
I want to before we in theshow, I want to give a
big prayer out to you for recoveryfor Jamie Fox. And I'm a big
(43:50):
fan of his work. Um brother. According to reports, um he allegedly
had a stroke, and you know, you know, there are so many
factors when a person have a stroke. Just never wouldn't know what a person
is dealing with, the weight, the responsibilities, all of that. So
I just pray that God will youknow, because he's a phenomenal talent like
(44:13):
none other, hand down, andI just pray that God would strengthen him.
Also, a few days ago, breaking news here northeast Ohio the young
man Jalen Walker who was shot offorty plus times by eight police officers in
Akron, Ohio. Well, thespecial grand jury decided not to charge those
(44:37):
officers. So we're praying for theWalker family and the U and the Akron
community. So which that said, please, you know, let's keep each
other lifted, keep each other inprayer and m and continue to you know,
do us right and treat people right. And as Lisa Ray said early
(45:00):
in the show, she said, half compassion for people and for others and
your family and watch your life,um have great success. So with that
