Speaker 1 (00:21):
What is going on everybody? Welcome, Welcome, Welcome back to
another edition of the John and Randall Football Experience. My
name is John Avino, and with me is my guy
Randall mnogue. Randall, it's Week two upcoming. We've already made
it through week one. How are you feeling about the
way the season started?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
My friend, oh man, John, fourteen favorites ended up winning
only two dogs. But these were some of the craziest
games I can remember in a week one watching. I'm
I mean, there were so many games that were like
(01:03):
just down to the wire, especially.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
The Sunday night game and the Monday night games.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Like sense, when do we get such talent like that
and action and most importantly entertainment.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I mean, is it rigged? I don't know, but I
don't care because it was fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, it certainly was. And we'll get into all that
and more coming up here in just a second. But Randall,
it's time to start with quick hits, big hits. All right,
So quick hits. This evening just kind of decided on
the fly here Randall, we're going to recap last week's
picks as far as our people's parlay was concerned, and
(01:44):
it did not go all that bad until it did.
We had three of the four legs that hit in
favor of us. The one leg that did not hit
was the Falcons money line ended up not hitting, which
was unfortunate because we did hit Dallas plus eight and
a half sorry as a what was it plus eight
(02:08):
and a half, We did hit Pittsburgh money line, and
we did hit the Jaguars and Panthers under forty six
and a half random So the first People's parlay came
up one leg short. Whereas they say in the biz,
we got hooked.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
Man, if we only had that ghost parlay feature going
would be okay.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, I didn't place that on the ghost leg, but
maybe this weekend I should place our People's parlay on
the ghost leg. But the good news is that Randall
and I have already placed our People's parlay and if
you stick around till the end, we'll give you the
winner for week two. Isn't that right, Randall?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
All we do is pick winners.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
John, I mean technically it really wasn't our fault with
like I said, only two dogs winning, I mean, one
of them being the Raiders, which I really I kind
of called a little bit ish but you know, we'll
get to that later.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Yeah, well, let's start with the Dallas and Eagles game
as far as what we're gonna recap, because this game
was really good for a while, and you can make
the argument that Dallas outplayed Philadelphia for part of this
game and then they until they didn't, you know, at
the end. Specifically, he had a couple of drop passes
from Ceedee Lamb, one of which would have been a
really hard play on that diving attempt at the end.
(03:22):
But you know, what did you make of this battle?
Because obviously the Eagles coming off the Super Bowl at home,
they had the ring ceremony and the banner ceremony. They
get the win, but Dallas really showed out in this game.
Dak Prescott looked like he was on a mission to
come back strong.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
I really think that the Eagles kind of got away
with one there. The Cowboys came in, they were ready
to go. But I wasn't. I wasn't sold on the Eagles.
I think I think that's more so what I learned
in this game. Dallas is still is not going to
be a good team this year. I'm still not sold
on the Eagles being able to get back to that
(03:59):
gale glorious run that they were on last year. I mean,
Sakwon definitely didn't look as good as he looked last season.
I get his game one, but he only averaged three
point three yards to carry. His over under was like
ninety five. I hammered the under, hammered the under, and
there is proof. There is proof, John, that I did that.
So I can show you after the game that I
(04:20):
did call the under for that. But this next week
coming up for the Eagles is going to be a
true test on the road, even though I didn't even
say a true test because I think the Chiefs are
falling apart. But the Cowboys could have won this game.
Ceedee Lamb dropping the ball, like you said, even though
he had one hundred yards, that drop was a key
(04:41):
pivotal turning point.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
In the game.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, especially when you consider the fact that you know
they just paid him. They obviously traded away their defensive
start right before the season started, but these are guys
that they have paid and Ceedee Lamb is one of
the highest paid players and wide receivers in the league.
He's also one of the best wide receivers in the league.
So you just kind of expect him to make these plays,
but I did think, you know, there's no such thing
(05:05):
as moral victories, which we'll talk about probably a lot
throughout this episode, because there's a lot of teams that
you could make the argument came away with a quote
unquote moral victory in week one, but I think this,
you know, you can get as close to it could
have been as a moral victory for the Cowboys. And
you mentioned the Eagles, who have maybe a tough trip
to make to the Midwest upcoming, But the Cowboys get
(05:27):
to go home now and they're going to take on
the Giants, who did not look very good in Week one,
as we'll talk about in a couple of minutes, but
you know, they they should be able to rebound in
my opinion, week two against a Giants team that didn't
show a lot of offense. So we'll keep an eye
on the Cowboys. Obviously, I'm not very as high on
them this year as maybe you are. Randall. I think
(05:49):
they were in your playoff picks for the postseason. If
I'm not mistaken, you can correct me if I'm wrong,
But yeah, I think I don't know. I think they'll
probably win next week, but I'm not sure how far
they'll go. I don't I don't think you're gonna be
surprised to find out that the Chargers won in sou Pallo, Brazil.
(06:11):
They had a pretty good, pretty good showing there against
the Chiefs. Randall specifically in the second half and and
the you know, the end of the third quarter and
fourth quarter, they scored two touchdowns. Quentin Johnston had a
good game, Keenan Allen caught a touchdown. The Chiefs just
kind of tried to play catch up for the entire game,
and they really never got themselves back fully. You know,
(06:34):
they were within one point at one point, they were
within two points in the fourth quarter. But the Chiefs
led the whole way and you picked them in in
the spread pick. We did charge Chargers left led the
whole way, and you picked them in your spread pick.
So why don't you go ahead and give yourself a
pat on the back here?
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Yeah, John, I mean I picked them in the spread.
I also picked Justin Herbert to win MVP this year,
and what did he do?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
He went out and showed out.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
I also had Justin Herbert to throw over three hundred
yards at like plus five hundred pregame just so you know,
so that told me mixed with that money line. Oh
it was plus one thousand, John plus one thousand. Okay,
all I'm saying is the Chargers are finally here to stay.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
In my opinion, they're finally here to stay.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yeah, I thought the Chiefs were really underwhelming. It didn't
help that Xavier Worthy got hurt instantly dislocated his shoulder
by running into Travis Kelsey, which is just weird because
you remember last year it was Patrick Mahomes running into
Rashid Rice that caused injury right away. It was just
kind of weird how it's almost the same thing and
not obviously the same part of the fielder as seriously
(07:49):
doesn't appear. But anyway, so, I mean, they didn't look
very good. You know, they had a couple of moments,
but you're right, the Chargers, I mean, justin Herbert looked good.
I've often called him a fraud because I don't think
he's really proven much yet and he still really hasn't. However,
this was a great start to the season. I should
have started on my fantasy team. I have him and
Dak Prescott in the same team, and I opted for
(08:11):
Dak Prescott, who scored me nine points whereas Justin would
have scored me an extra eighteen compared to that. But
you know, it is what it is. You make mistakes
in fantasy, just like some of these teams don't come
up the way you think they're gonna come up. I
was on the side of the Chiefs, and I was wrong.
So I'll give you credit the Chargers. They showed out,
and right from the beginning they showed out. They were
up ten to nothing, you know, just a minute and
(08:33):
a half into the second quarter. So give the Chargers
their flowers this week for going up one to zero
the Chiefs, and that, of course is one of their
home games, because they were the home game, or sorry,
the designated home team in this neutral site game. So
(08:54):
all right, Randon, where do you want to go next?
You want to go to the Raiders Patriots game?
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Why not? John? Why not?
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah? Go ahead? Oh well.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Call it Mac Jones two point zero. I guess I
don't know, I mean may just yeah. I told you
from somebody who's got to.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Sound the booty alarm. Booty cheeks, booty cheeks, booty cheeks,
booty cheeks.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
I I said this last year. I would have rather
them take an offensive weapon like Marvin Harrison Jr. With
a third overall pick and hold on to Milton the third.
I really think he's he's a talent. I really think
he could have done something in New England.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
I mean, I'm not It's it's early for Drake May still.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Obviously he hasn't even played a full season last year,
so like he hasn't even played seventeen eighteen games yet.
So we're playing Miami this week. We'll see how it goes.
But I like what Josh McDaniels is doing. I like
what Mark Vuryboll's doing. I knew it was gonna be
a tough game. This is why, Hey, I chose the
Raiders with the points?
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Did I not? Last week? I chose the Raiders, you did.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
This was yet another loss.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
For me and I and I and I had the
pay I have the Patriots make the playoffs on my bracket.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
But it's just.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
It was it was I wanted them to obviously still win,
but it just did not look good. He did not
get the ball out quick enough. He did not It
just I can't even put it into words. I'm just
so flabbergasted. At what was happening man, Because they couldn't
run the ball well, threw the ball like fifty freaking times.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I was just gonna say, I mean, they didn't really
get the run game going at all, and for whatever reason,
you know, Tramion Henderson. The preseason, all we heard about
was how good this kid was gonna be, and somehow
he got out rushed twice by Ramondre Stevenson. I mean,
he had five carries for twenty seven yards. That's five
point four yards per carry. Give the guy the ball.
Ramondre Stevenson had seven carries for fifteen yards, which is
(10:59):
kind of attention of what he did last year. He
was not very effective for most of the year. You
could make the argument that Gibson was better consistently last
year than Remandre was, which is a shame because he
had a great year two years ago when he first
burst on the scene. But then you look at the
other side of the coin here and Gino Smith. Aside
from throwing an interception, he was the offense for the Raiders.
(11:21):
He threw for three hundred and sixty yards, had a touchdown.
Pass Genti did score, but genty only averaged two yards
per carries, so both run defenses kind of showed up
in this game. It just really came down to the
passing game for the Raiders being a little bit more overwhelming.
You know, the Raiders did lose Brock Bowers in this
game too, after he had torched the Patriots for five
(11:42):
catches for one hundred yards, but he even you know,
Gino Smith turned the other tight end, Michael Meyer into
a viable target. And oh, by the way, old friend
Jacobe Meyers had a good game as well. So I
don't know. I think the Patriots are going down to
Miami is a good thing, obviously because Miami looked awful,
which we'll talk about second here. We can go to
them next. But you know, nothing's a sure thing obviously
(12:05):
because now they're traveling, and obviously the Dolphins are going
to be kind of in desperation mode as well, coming
off of the game they came off of. So I
would like to think the Patriots rebound this week, but
I don't know that it's such a sure thing having
to travel down to Miami. So we will we will,
mean to see.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Nothing's a sure thing in this league, John, But I
just really want to see a step and a little
bit better of a direction.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
I mean, it was.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Two first time head coaches for their new teams, yep,
going against each other. Pete Carroll welcome back to New England.
But the Raiders definitely looked better than the Patriots, especially
that open and drive for the Raiders where they scored
really quick and Gino Smith looked phenomenal that first drive.
But I just don't think that New England ever, ever, ever,
(12:57):
really looked like they had control in that game and
started on the ground that couldn't get anything going.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
On the round.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Well, speaking of not having control in the game, how
about the Dolphins laying a complete dud against the Colts.
They did score a garbage time touchdown late in the
fourth quarter, was six minutes to go. Devin a Chain
did get in the end zone, but it was I mean,
this was as bad as it gets. I mean, the
Colts are not projected to be a great team this year.
(13:23):
They're starting Daniel Jones, who, by the way, did something
that no quarterback has ever done. He scored seven times
in seven offensive possessions or whatever it was. They did
not not score. They scored every single time they had
the ball, which is just absurd. To think about. It
was Daniel Jones, But that's a whole side story here.
I think the main story is how bad the Dolphins look,
(13:45):
because this is a team that Mike McDaniel has now
been coaching for what three years or four years, and
they seem to get worse every year. The quarterback, you know,
he's he's inaccurate a lot of the time. He seems
to only be doing well when Tyreek Hilton get open,
which by the way, did not happen at all in
this game. I don't really know. I don't even know
(14:05):
if he had a catch. I'm sure he did, but
he didn't. Was not very effective at all, So that's
a problem. And now he's got all these other I
know he's you know, had the domestic violence stuff going on,
but he's back in the news with that. He had
four catches, by the way, but he was not very effective.
It just didn't amount to anything, and they couldn't get
the run game going. But I thought this was an
(14:26):
all around embarrassing performance for the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
John it was. It was not pretty by any means,
just because.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
I do not understand how they thought let's take Tua
over Justin Herbert.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
That was there.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
I honestly think that's where.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
I really believe the Dolphins franchise is in a different
place today.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
If they took Justin Herbert over to it was.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Did Brian Flores want them to do that when he
was the coach and they didn't do it?
Speaker 4 (14:59):
I I think so, But that that's where this went
bad for them. Their backup right now is freaking Zach Wilson.
But it just everything Tyreek. It doesn't matter how good
Tyreek is, it does not matter. Tyreek could go off.
They're still not gonna use as lot as them properly.
(15:20):
He's only one guy like they it's Tua is just
so bad man.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
He's bad, yeah, bad, bad bad.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
You feel bad almost because a couple of years ago
he had a really nice year. But he's obviously taken
so many hits and you don't know if that's affecting
his play. But he's just never been to me, he's
never been as good as his numbers would indicate. And
I think this year he might get exposed a little
bit more, and clearly Week one that happened. I also
think Mike McDaniel is probably on the hottest of seats
(15:49):
of any of any coach right now. I mean, he
can make the argument about a lot of guys, but
I could see a world where Mike McDaniel doesn't make
it through the season. I did think Rex Ryan was
a little harsh calling him nerd boy on ESPN the
other day, but I do think that he had a
lot of solid points in saying like, the players don't
respect this guy whatever. I think that clearly there's been
(16:10):
a shift there and they might need to get something
fresh going on. But I also saw there was reports
that the Chiefs were apparently calling them about Tyreek Hill
possible trade. So we will see what happens there. But
right now, the Dolphins don't look like they're going anywhere good.
So maybe maybe a pick that you want to make
(16:31):
is the Patriots next week. But we will obviously make
our pick shortly so you can see if either Randall
or I go in that direction. Randa, let's move our
attention to another one of the one o'clock games, the
Steelers of the Jets. This was a fun game to watch.
I don't know how much of it you saw or
watched solely because obviously the Patriots were playing, but you know,
(16:54):
the Steelers. Aaron Rodgers looked really good, but so did
Justin Fields. That might be the more surprising thing. Aaron
Rodgers threw four touchdowns Justin Fields in this game, kept
moving the ball, kept answering when you felt like, oh man,
the Steelers are gonna put them away here. You know,
we had the Steelers money line in our people's parlay,
(17:14):
so we both were in lockstep that we thought the
Steelers would win this game. But they did not cover
because they were three point favorites, and unfortunately, you know,
they for the Jets rather unfortunately they came up short
in a game where they played maybe as well as
they are capable of playing on offense.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
John One, Yes, I was watching the game because I
had money on the game, and I had money on
the Jets.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Why Randall's back, baby, He like didn't all last season.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Now he's back, and and I might be gone after
it because that was so heartbreaking to watch. John, Like,
the guy fumbled a kickoff and it just changed the
game for this.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
They cut him by the way today.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
As deserve they should.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Xavier Gibson and you feel bad because he's been there
for a few years. But Aaron Glenn had to make
an example.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
That cost them the game? John, It did that cost
them the game? But you want to know what else
cost them the game?
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Aaron Glenn? Why are you going for a two point conversion? John?
In the first quarter? Why it may have been did.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
They have a penalty? Were they on the one yard line?
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I I don't know what happened.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
All I know is they went for two in the
first quarter and they did not get it which the line.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
But regardless, why are you doing that? Because look, I
guess what happened.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
What they lose by two, and you know what, what
have they would have been tied?
Speaker 1 (18:50):
They would have asked me one had they kicked that.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
Point, no, because they had to go for two after
the next touchdown to go try to.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Go up three, and they didn't get it.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
No, they did not, guess, So they had two missed
two point conversions, one in the first quarter, one in
the fourth quarter, which they had to obviously go for
in the fourth quarter because there was like two minutes
to go.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
They just scored a touch that.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
They were up. They were up by one when they
did that, because they were trying to make it so
that a Steelers field goal would hurt would try then
if you can that time, but that time you don't. Yeah, okay,
so your point is is valid still because the first
time you're saying that that's what they should have done.
The second time they did the right thing for the game,
(19:35):
because if they kicked the extra point, they're gonna lose
by one either way or two exactly. So yeah, correct,
I know what you're saying. The first time they should
not have.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
But they they botched it. I mean, then a couple
of guys dropped some balls that shouldn't have been dropped
and just the fumble. The fumble cost them. And I'll
do it for you.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Last play Jalen Ramsey made on Garrett Wilson fourth down
and Justin Fields probably could have ran that for the
first down. Definitely could have ran it for the first down,
but you know, Wilson probably should have caught it. I
know Ramsey and him were going back and forth the
whole game, but still one that I'm sure he feels
like he should have had sod it. The Jaguars beat
(20:19):
the Panthers pretty handily. Don't have to get too into
that game. I don't think either one of us are
too surprised with that result. You had the Cardinals. Beating
the Saints wasn't the best performance from the Cardinals, but
they did go on the road and get the job
done against a team that they definitely should have beaten.
And then you had the Bengals at the Browns Randall,
which to my surprise, was a lot closer than I
(20:41):
would have imagined. You and I both did pick the
Bengals minus five and a half. But I have a
feeling that if we could have gone back in time
and picked again, you might have changed your pick, you know,
on the game day maybe, But you're pretty high on
the Browns coming out of this game.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
I watched that game because I did live bet the
Browns and they let me down to And let me
tell you, there were Joe Flacco looked amazing, looked absolutely amazing.
He was hitting guys in stride and they were dropping ball.
So third and five, throw for a first down, boom
right in the hands, nobody around them drops.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
He did four two picks, John, Were you watching the game?
Speaker 1 (21:25):
No?
Speaker 3 (21:25):
I didn't have, So you want to know what those
two picks were?
Speaker 1 (21:28):
How many screens do you have?
Speaker 5 (21:30):
No? No?
Speaker 3 (21:30):
No, John, were you watching the game? No? No? Do
you want to know what those two hold on.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
I have red zone and I have a second TV
where I watched a second game.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
So that's great, But do you want to know I'm
willing to tell you.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
What tell me about the picks?
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Okay, both picks were tipped by his own receivers to
the defenders, literally in the hands into the defender's hands,
as simple as that.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
So they should not have interceptions. Do you think she
count You.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Think that she count as team interceptions when that happens.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
It should be something.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
Man, Can you see the NBA just change the rule today?
It's relevant. No, So the NBA decided today that half
court or full court heaves at the end of the
buzzer are not going to count against the person shooting
them anymore. It's gonna be a team statistic.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Correct. I knew they were talking about doing that.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
So that's what I'm picturing here, is like you're kind
of saying, like these should be team interceptions.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
I mean, there should be the wide receiver, it should
count as a fumble or something. I mean, like give
the wide receiver the interception, like should have been a
cop ball or something like that.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
You know.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
But so those two interceptions were both were both through
the wide receiver's hands and tipped into the defender. They
marched all the way down, missed that Pat missed the
third five yard field goal wide right. They sacked Joe
Burrow three times in a row to get him down
to the one receiver fumbles on like the twenty yard line. So, John,
(23:03):
I mean, the Browns literally did everything possible to lose
this game. Obviously they lost it, but they did so
much wrong on the offensive side of the ball to
lose and they still only lost by one.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Yeah, this defense is legit.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
I don't know if we've seen the end of the
greatness that we thought the Cincinnati Bengals were gonna be.
I don't know if we saw saw it like it's
it's over. Well, the Super Bowl team that they were just.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Overreact. We saw a whole season of it.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Yeah, I know, But they also lose the opener every year,
and this year they won it despite being bad anyway,
I mean one hundred and thirteen yards exactly. Yeah, they
found a way to win. This is my whole Chiefs
argument from last year.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
They found a way to Yeah, they found a way
to win.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
They should and what happened The Chiefs lost in the
Super Bowl and they lost open to night and guess
what downhill from there? Since the man downhill, I honestly think,
since he's going one in my mind.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Well, I mean, they clearly did not live up to
the expectation, especially in the second half. I mean, they
had fourteen points in the first half. They scored seven
and a half minutes in. You're thinking, Okay, here come
the Bengals. This offense, You're thinking it's gonna be great
this year, and then it really never materialized. Again. They
had the Noah Fan touchdown the second quarter and then
only three points. And the fact is the last seventeen
(24:28):
minutes of this game, nobody scored. So the Browns, to
your point, had every chance every time they made these
defensive stops to just go down the field and take
a lead. And this was a one point game for
seventeen minutes. As it just kind of ended that way.
It's kind of weird, but that's the way it went.
Another close game. This was one that I was high
(24:49):
on the Falcons. You also were high on the Falcons.
We put them in the People's Parlay. They beat the
Bucks both times they played them last year, and they
were at home for this game, and I thought Michael
Nix played fantastic. You know, he threw for three hundred
yards or two yards short of that two ninety eight
on twenty seven completions. You know, Bijon Robinson had a
(25:09):
huge day catching the ball. You know, Baker Mayfield didn't
look great until he did, and he needed to in
that second half, specifically down the stretch. They scored with
a minute to go to take the lead for the
first time since the well They led in the third
quarter two, but it was tied at halftime. It was
back and forth in the first half. This is one
(25:30):
of the better games of Week one. But your boy
Baker Mayfield, he pulled it out and kind of pulled
the strings out from our people's parlay Randall.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
John.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
It was a third and ten, fourth quarter, fifty seconds
to go.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
You had this game on your seventh TV right.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
But first down absolutely killed me.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Man. Then they missed the field goal to tie. I
mean it just I I was literally and of course
what I do.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
I live bet the Falcons. I was thinking about it.
Do I just hammer hammer Tampa? No, No, They're gonna
come back now. I'm gonna lie bet the Falcons they're
gonna hold them here.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
No.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Yeah, lost on a field goal there, lost by two
point conversions in the Jets game, lost because a guy
missed a field goal in the Cincy Brown game.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
I mean, it was just.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Brutal form brutal on the live bets, and I mean
I'm still feeling it and it's taunting me to this
very day and moment still, So thank you for bringing
it up.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Yeah, don't worry about it, man, anytime, anytime. But yeah,
the Falcons are a team that I like going forward. Still,
I think that they just kind of came up short
in a tough spot here, especially at home Week one
against the Bucks because now they have to play the
Bucks again in Tampa later this season. Then the four
o'clock window hit and you had, i'd say some surprises here,
(26:55):
despite maybe not all the results being all that surprising.
I mean, the Rams beat the Texans, which obviously I'm
happy about, but it was not necessarily the offensive showing
that I thought we'd see. Actually, I skipped a game
that I wanted to talk to you about, the Commander's Giants.
We'll go back to that one real quick, because the
Commanders and Giants, the Giants were not very competitive. They
scored six points, the least amount of points that we
(27:17):
saw from any team in Week one. Russell Wilson did
not look very good. He was seventeen of thirty seven
throwing the ball for one hundred and sixty eight yards. Obviously,
the talk about this team is going to be winning
against Jackson Dart. So I mean, what do you think
as far as what we're going to see from this
Giants team going forward? We both picked the Giants to
(27:38):
cover here. This was one of your hard locks. This
was one of your hard locks, the only one that
lost last.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Week, Randall John, I really, honestly.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
I I owe an apology to the people because, for
whatever reason, I forgot that Russell Wilson was booty cheeks, John,
booty cheeks.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Cheeks, booty cheeks. Sorry, that's our alarm system.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
I literally forgot how ast he was.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
I'm watching the game, John, fourth and one, okay or
fourth and.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Three, whatever it was. They go forth.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
They don't get it, but there was a flag on
the plane brings them now to the one yard line,
so they got bailed out on the one yard line.
Don't get it in again from the one yard line.
Don't get it in on third and down again from
the one yard line, don't.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Get it in.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
Four tries from the two to the one, and they
do not get it in. They ended up trying to
They end up kicking the field goal. But John, they
are so bad, Oh my god, And I really do
not know what's going on at practice or anything for
them to say, yes, we're gonna stick with Russell Wilson,
because I get it. Once you move off of Russell Wilson,
(28:50):
you cannot go back to Russell Wilson. And now you
have Russell Wilson on the bench, it's gonna cause a scene.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
You're paying the money.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
You're probably just better off telling them to go on home, right,
But my god, was the booty cheek?
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Yeah? I think the one thing that we have to
keep in mind here is that Brian Dable is also
coaching for his job, so he's got to almost thread
a really weird needle. Whereas if he puts Jackson Dart
in too soon and they are no much, no better
off than they were before, you know, he's going to
lose the trust of the ownership if he waits too
(29:28):
long and then puts Jackson Dart in. That could also backfire.
I don't think this is going to go very well
with Russell Wilson. I do think it's probably worth having
Jameis Winston as the listed number two guy, unless they
do plan on Dart being good to go, because I
think Winston, for as much as he can really ruin
an offense by throwing pick sixes or whatever, he can
(29:50):
also bring a level of energy to an offense, whereas
Russell Wilson just kind of a steady presence, and not
necessarily in a good way these days. I think he
just kind of has a very steady, almost too calming
presence about him as a quarterback. You want a little
bit more fire. I didn't think this was a very
good performance at all all around for the Giants. Obviously
(30:11):
the defense too. But but they're gonna have a lot
to kind of figure out here. They've got a talented
receiver and leak neighbors, the running backs not really, there's
a little bit left to be desired. Camp Scatibo obviously
is a little bit interesting of a prospect, but I
don't know. We'll see what happens with them. But this
was a bad loss, and I cannot believe in hindsight
(30:34):
that I figured they would cover six and a half.
I just had too much hope for I guess all
the stuff that we heard coming out of their camp
this year. But that's what you get. That's what you get. Okay,
now we can jump into the four o'clock window quickly.
I talked about the Rams beating the Texans. This was
not an offensive onslaught, but Pooka Nakua, what a monster
(30:55):
this guy is. Randall, I don't know if you saw it.
I'm sure you did because it sounds like you have
ten TVs. But he obviously left the game, got checked
for concussion, was fine, but had a lot of blood
coming from his head and got bandaged up. And then
he was having an issue where the helmet would go
over the bandage properly and he started like bleeding again.
But the guy had ten catches for one hundred and
(31:15):
thirty yards. Matthew Stafford made a couple of big throws
down the stretch and the Texans offense never got in
the end zone. They kicked three field goals and it
ended up being a very low scoring five point win
for the Rams. My lone win in the hard Locks
this week was the Rams and obviously, I'm very happy
about that. Randall.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
Yeah, John, I think they snuck away with this one.
I honestly thought for a second that Houston was gonna
win this game, just kind of the way things were
playing out for them. But guy Scott, Lucky, Puka Nakua
is showing showing up and showing out, man like this dude.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
They got blessed with this man. They got.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
They did their research on him, and he's been every
single time time he's out there, he's been phenomenal.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yeah, I mean the key is just keeping him on
the field. There was only one touchdown in the second
half this game, otherwise no other points. It was nine
to seven going into the halftime break with Houston leading.
They had three field goals in the first half that
was good for a two point lead. The Rams made
the comeback, so I will take it. They're one and
oh and they're going to play Tennessee this week, so
hopefully they can get two and oh. Speaking of Tennessee,
(32:25):
I was, you know, we were both on the Broncos
here to go minus eight and a half and they
covered until they didn't it was eight, So I think
Sean Payton might have been on the other side of
this one randal because he was given the Titans every
chance he could to get the ball back. It seemed
like every time he had a you know, opportunity to punch,
(32:47):
put them deep in their own territory. You know, he
did something like go forward and fourth down, even late
when they were up by eight. So but obviously the
Broncos won, and the big thing there was that we
both had picked them for the survivor pool. We survive
in advanced Week one.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
Yeah, I think that there was honestly a minute, a
couple of minutes throughout that first half where I'm like, this,
this is gonna be the upset that I was waiting
for throughout the first one o'clock games, four o'clock games. Honestly,
like every every week, I feel like I'm always waiting,
(33:23):
who's gonna be that shocking upset?
Speaker 3 (33:26):
And I thought that was gonna be it.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
I thought Cam Moored was gonna pull some rabbit out
of the hat, and unfortunately wasn't able.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
To do it.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
But we saw why the Titans were the number one
uh picking the NFL draft last year first hand.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
I mean, they're still bad.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Broncos got lucky a little bit but I mean grant
they still won by eight.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Yeah, that's they got lucky.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah, I agree. Uh, the forty nine Ers beat the Seahawks.
Kind of a weird NFC West game. Sam Darnald didn't
look great in his debut, but neither did Brock Purdy,
and the storyline there was the George Kittle ends up
exiting he's gonna be on ir for the forty nine ers.
Purdy also might not play this upcoming week, so they're
at the Saints. We might get a mac Jones sighting
(34:14):
for the forty nine ers this weekend, so we'll keep
our eyes on that. The Lions and Packers, this game
kind of surprised me. You had the Packers, you were
all over them minus two and a half, so you
probably were not that all all that sorry all that
surprise to see them kind of pull away early in
this one, and then really the Lions only got a
(34:35):
couple scores in the second half that really didn't them
out too much.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Yeah, no, I definitely.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
I'm not high on Detroit. John I really was not
high on them after watching what happened last season the
end of the year, and then not to mention that,
but guess what you lost your offensive coordinator, you lost
your defensive coordinator. Now, Jared Golf without Sean McVay and
without Ben Johnson is just a very very Mac jonesy
(35:06):
and quarterback. And I'm not gonna take Jared Goff versus
anybody decent this year.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
It's Yeah, this is another spot that I think we're
looking at a regression, you know, And I think Detroit
will be better than Miami, but I think it's sort
of similar Dan Campbell. I don't think it's gonna be
on a hot seat yet because they did have success
last season. But uh, you know, it's interesting because they
they kind of been that team that maybe did overachieve
(35:34):
with Goff for a while. But now, you know, given
the division, the Green Bay clearly looks like they're gonna
be for real again. You know, we'll talk about the
Bears and Vikings game, the game they played on Monday
night just here in a second. But you know, the
Lions could be the odd team out in some ways
if there's two other teams that are better than them
in this division and they're not good enough to make
(35:55):
that third wild card out of that division. So we'll
just have to see. But not great start for them. Offensively,
they didn't score their touchdown until the final minute of
the game. Gibbs Montgomery couldn't get anything going on the ground,
So not a great look for them, all right. And
then that brings us to the two primetime games. The
first one was the Ravens Bills. This game was absolutely
(36:17):
absurd from the beginning. It felt like a playoff atmosphere,
and I think that's a great thing for football because
they were able to kind of build that Sunday night
football the first week. And I think you do that
naturally by having two teams that have the highest expectations.
I think those two teams on paper, when looking at
Super Bowl odds or both in the top three or
four at least maybe the top two. Not looking at
(36:41):
the odds right in front of me. But you know,
this was a game that played out as classic as
you could expect. The Ravens were up big time, you know,
seventeen to seven in the first half, and then again
they were up twenty to ten second half. They got
up by two touchdowns. They were up by as many
as fifteen points when it was football thirty four to
nineteen and then forty to twenty five. With eleven forty
(37:05):
two to go, when Derek Henry scored that touchdown to
get them up fifteen again, and then all hell broke
loose as the Bills, with three minutes left, scored a touchdown,
scored another one with four minutes left, sorry, and then
another one two minutes later, and then Matt Prater kicked
the game winning field goal as time expired. Obviously, had
the late Derek Henry fumble in there, randall, but this
(37:27):
game had everything that you want from a primetime game
Week one in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
GON what I want to see is chaos, madness, mayhem.
I want to That's what I love that right, like
the way the Bills game ended, I see, I love.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
I love the madness, like I said.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
But at the same time, I mean, I didn't want
the Bills to win because obviously in the same division
as the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
But when I'm.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Watching games where I think it's over, like we both
were watching that game thinking with five minutes to go,
there's no way the Bills come back to win.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
After watching the first half of the Vikings game both,
it's kind of crazy, the two primetime games. Both of
those games, I said, there's no way the Bills are
winning this because the Ravens look too dominant. And there's
no way the Vikings are winning this because JJ McCarthy
looked I.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Don't even know what he looked like like he had fifty.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
Yards and a half. John, How do you win when
your quarterback has fifty yards.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
And a half.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Well, that's the big difference is that the Bills did
have Josh Allen compared to the Vikings having JJ McCarthy.
And the last thing I'll say about the Bills too,
is that you mentioned there were two underdogs that one
week one. The Bills were one of them, and they
were at home in this game. So coming back against
the Ravens was crazy and its own right, But the
fact that they were also an underdog at home, you know,
(39:05):
it's just crazy in a concept to begin with, but
obviously when you look at the opponent they were playing,
it makes a little bit more sense. But yeah, they
came back. And I will do the other last thing
I'll say and then we'll move on fully to the
Vikings game is DeAndre Hopkins. That was the coolest part
of the whole game to me, was just him making
a random cameo out of nowhere to make a spectacular
(39:26):
catch for a touchdown, you know, being on the Ravens
now He had that random touchdown the second half, so
that was pretty cool to see. Obviously, they came up short.
But to your point about JJ McCarthy, I mean, the
guy looked like he never played football before. In the
first half of that game. Caleb Williams went right down
the field the first drive of the game, and I'm thinking, Okay,
(39:46):
Ben Jhonson's got something here. You know, the Bears are
gonna kind of figure this thing out. And I was
on the side of the Bears and the pick. You know,
I liked them at home to open the season with
the new regime. I thought the Vikings would come out
and I was not feeling J Jim McCarthy and I,
you know, early on in this game, I'm sitting there thinking, Man,
I'm gonna be right about this one. Reynald's gonna have
to have to eat it on hard locks because this
(40:08):
was your final hard lock pick. And uh, you ended
up being right. The Vikings came back. JJ McCarthy ended
up pulling it out for you.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
He did.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
He looked like a completely different guy in that second half.
I mean, granted, in the first half they were running
the ball like crazy, like just running running the ball.
I mean, he didn't throw it much, but every time
he did throw it at just his interception on the
pick six got awful. But it's just amazes me how
(40:38):
teams can just sometimes flip a switch, like a literal
switch was flipped in both those games, John to where
I'm like, the.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Vikings put up over twenty points in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
M h yeah in Chicago, by the way, So yeah, crazy,
crazy results all around. It was a weird Week one
in a lot of ways. But as you said, fourteen
of the sixteen favorites one so if you just look
at that, it's pretty straightforward. But there were so many
odd results as far as the way they ended, or
(41:11):
how close they were, or the hooks on the spreads,
whatever it may be. But this is it. We're back, baby,
it's NFL season. We love it. So yeah, that's a
recap of Week one. So now it's time Randall to
turn our attention to Week two, which gets started tomorrow
nights with the Commanders and Packers. By the time people
are listening to this, it will most likely be to
(41:32):
night that it will be getting started week two. But
with that, it's time to move on to one of
our favorite games to play here. Guess that's spread.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
It's time to play.
Speaker 5 (41:45):
Guess that.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
Spread? All right, guess that spread is back. Last week
I won on the buzzer the last category, the wide receivers.
I was able to pull it out kind of like
I did last year. A lot of the times it
came down to the wire, I was able to get it.
So Randall, because I'm the defending champion, I'll give you
(42:11):
the choice. Would you like me to give you one
first or would you like to give me one first?
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Uh, I'm gonna give you one first?
Speaker 1 (42:19):
John, All right, perfect, let's go.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
Alrighty John, we have the MVP justin Herbert Pat The
raid is over under for him, John, but.
Speaker 1 (42:34):
He got well the future MVP. Umm, let me see
here he's gonna I mean, he just threw for over
three hundred yards. The line's gonna be fairly high. They're
playing at the Raiders, who I don't think I have
a great defense. I'm gonna say this line is gonna
be pretty high. I'm gonna go two fifty five and
(42:57):
a half.
Speaker 3 (42:58):
Well, you consider that high?
Speaker 1 (43:01):
Well, by average. Yeah, but I mean his three hundred
yard number could have pumped that up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
Well, ding ding ding fifty two and oh man, you're
gonna be in the two seventies after what you were saying,
you pulled.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
You pulled the fast one on me there. I thought
it wasn't gonna get it for a second. Okay, I'm
on the board early this time. We'd love to see that.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
Uh all right, are you able to confirm your book
shows the same thing as my book?
Speaker 5 (43:30):
John?
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Can you can you just give me a confirmation real
quick for that?
Speaker 1 (43:33):
Yeah? Hold on, let me see here.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
Do you.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
The number I'm seeing for his over under on here
is to fifty one and a half. But it's close enough.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
You were either way you got a point. You would
have got a point anyway.
Speaker 1 (43:51):
Yep, sure did. All right, let's bring you to one
of your favorite guys in the league and talk about
Patrick Mahomes. I'd love for you to give me his
past his passing yard over under number against the Philadelphia
Eagles in Kansas City this weekend.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
Oh boy, John.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
Had in week one?
Speaker 4 (44:15):
No, because that doesn't matter. I know where he was
in week one. He was around like two sixty. I
believe eight.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Yeah, let's go. I'm gonna go in the it's gonna
be in the two forties. I'd imagine. I'm gonna go too,
forty five and a half.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
Ding ding ding ding ding to forty two and a half. Alrightly,
you are dialed, Yes, all right, we're both on the board.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
All right, go ahead, alrty, John.
Speaker 4 (44:49):
Let's go to a guy who had a great Week
one with his new team. Let's go to the East
Coast with Bebo Samuel over under receiving yards for Debo
Verse the Packers.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
This is a guy who I have my fantasy team,
so I was very happy with his Week one success.
They're playing who this week again? Remind me the pack
is that's right, this game is coming up very quickly.
I'm gonna say the receiving number on Deebo is still
gonna be and let's go. I'm gonna say fifty one
(45:27):
and a half.
Speaker 4 (45:29):
Wow, you are on fire today, John, fifty three and
a half.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
All right, okay, I'll take that any day of the week.
Let me see if you can get this receiver. The
guy I'm gonna go with is a guy that's near
and dear to my heart, Pooka Nakua coming off a
huge game. Uh, he's now playing at the Tennessee Titans
this weekend.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
I mean, every time Johnny's getting ten receptions a high
your yards, ten receptions a hundred yards, I mean, this
is I feel it's tough here. I don't even know
what it's averaging ten receptions.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
One hundred yards.
Speaker 4 (46:09):
You know that's normally what it is, these ten reception
one hundred yard kind of guy. So, I mean, I
really feel like it's going to be high here, not
quite nineties high, somewhere in the seventies. Maybe I gotta
go on the higher side of the seventies. Seventy eight,
(46:31):
seventy seven and a half.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
Ding Ning ning ning ning ning Ning Randall, it is
seventy eight and a half. You started saying seventy eight.
I was like, do it, and then you didn't do it.
That would have been our first exactly in two years.
Did I have one at the end of the year
(46:55):
Last year I had?
Speaker 3 (46:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (46:57):
I did last year?
Speaker 3 (46:58):
You have?
Speaker 1 (46:59):
You didn't have one all last year? That close? This game,
this game is good, man, we're both two for two. Wow,
that's the first time the history of the game, they
were both two for two. We have to go to
a shootout if we both get this.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
Well, John, here we go. I'm gonna try to get
here with the stumper. Okay, Oh boy, we're rushing yards
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore. Give me Derek Henry's over under.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
Oh god, well he just ran for almost two hundred yards.
They're playing Cleveland. Cleveland's rushing defense did not allow a
ton to chase Brown. I mean, this number is gonna
be high. Last year, I remember when Sakuon and him
(47:49):
were doing what they were doing. This number got really high.
I don't know if it's gonna be quite as high yet,
but I have to say somewhere, m I can't go
triple digits. I don't think I can do that yet.
I think I gotta go with ninety three and a half.
Speaker 3 (48:10):
This is wild. Give me the exact no way, get
out of here, dude, we are dial my god, what
what is happening right now? Exactly? Holy shit?
Speaker 1 (48:31):
Oh my god. Okay, I might have to go to
Vegas or Encore. Wow.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
Yeah, hell, what that means I should have went exactly?
You went exactly?
Speaker 1 (48:44):
Oh my god. So that means that even if you
get this one, I'm gonna win just on the fact
that I had an exactly unless you I.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Can get it exactly here, let me get exactly.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
Oh my god, all right, let me butter you up
with one here. Let me try to figure out who
makes sense to do.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Oh my god, that's insane.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
That is insane. That is actually wild.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
I thought I was gonna stump.
Speaker 1 (49:08):
Uh well, I mean, he had a huge game, so
I just had to go high. All right, I got
the guy. I got the guy. I got the guy
I'm gonna go with. Do I want to do? Yeah,
I'm gonna do Bejon Robinson for you. He's a big guy.
He had a good game Week one. In fact, most
of his damage came receiving the ball Week one. I
(49:30):
think he had like ten catches. But this guy's a
dual threat. How many rushing yards will he have in
Week two against the Vikings or sorry, how many rushing
yards is his line set at?
Speaker 4 (49:43):
Not gonna be crazy high, it's gonna be in between
forty five to sixty five in that range. I want
to go on the higher side of that. Even though
he's been getting receiving yards. I'm gonna sace, Oh, fifty
(50:04):
seven and a half.
Speaker 1 (50:06):
I should have trusted your gut. Sixty eight and a half.
Speaker 3 (50:09):
I was gonna say sixty seven.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Yeah, sixty eight and a half. Uh came up a
little short on that one. That number is gonna stay
high for now until he doesn't. You know, he had
a big game receiving.
Speaker 3 (50:22):
But yeah, I was gonna say sixty seven. I thought
that was gonna be too high. Oh that was.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
That was a hell of a guest that spread. That
was the best guess that spread we've ever had come
come back.
Speaker 3 (50:32):
That was great job and that I mean, yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
Guess that spread. Should have changed it to Uh, should
have changed it to know that spread for tonight.
Speaker 3 (50:47):
That spread didn't need to guess it.
Speaker 1 (50:50):
All right, It's time to move on to hard locks Randalls.
Last week Randall had a two and one record in
hard locks. I went one and two. He had the
Cowboys plus eight and a half that hit. He also
had the Vikings minus one and a half that hit
miraculously in the end, the Giants did not do it
(51:12):
for him. Meanwhile, my one lone win came in the
Rams minus three. I did not win on the Falcons
plus one and a half or the Bengals minus five
and a half. So I go into Week two a
game back of Randall on hard locks. That being said, Randall,
why don't you get us started.
Speaker 3 (51:32):
Well?
Speaker 4 (51:32):
John, I'm gonna start us off with what I think
is gonna be a good win for my patties down
in Miami. They always normally struggle down there. However, I
really do believe there is gonna be no regression for
Miami meeting. They're not changing anything. Give me New England
plus one and a half on the road in Miami,
(51:53):
they finally get things together. If Rabel gets his first win.
McDaniels has used to it down there, they are going
to win this game and put Mike McDaniel out of
a job.
Speaker 1 (52:03):
I don't know if he's gonna get fired yet, but
I do not disagree with you that I think the
Patriots are going to be a good, good bet down
there this week, just on the sole fact that the
Dolphins looked awful week one, I'm gonna go ahead and
take the Falcons plus three and a half. A little
dog alert here. I like them because the same reasons
(52:27):
I like them Week one. I think the Vikings kind
of overachieved in a primetime spot, coming back in the
second half, and granted there are going to be at home,
but I think Atlanta kind of gets it together. Michael
Penis had a great game, and I think, you know,
it's odd for J. J. McCarthy because he's facing off
against two guys in a row that were in the
same draft class as him. However, he's the rookie because
(52:50):
he didn't get any chance to play last year and
these guys did. But I think Pennix and the Falcons,
even if they don't win, I think they'll keep it
within three and a half. So I will take the
Falcons plus three and a half.
Speaker 3 (53:01):
Love that. I'm gonna go with a favorite here, a
big favorite.
Speaker 4 (53:06):
Give me the Cardinals, Arizona Cardinals minus six and a
half against the Panthers. They did great at home last
year at six and three. I still don't think Panthers
have it figured out at all. On the offensive side.
Give me Arizona Marvin Harrison, Junior, James Connor.
Speaker 3 (53:23):
They looked great last week. Give me that minus six
and a half.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
I'm not gonna quite go as big and six and
a half. I'm gonna go five and a half here
with the Cowboys over the Giants. I just think that
the Giants are not a very good football team right now,
and I think that the Cowboys, coming off of their
performance against the Eagles, have a real chance to go
home and just absolutely blow out the Giants. Granted, we
did talk about this before the show. They were two
(53:47):
and seven last year at home, so not exactly a
great home team, but a lot of that came without
Dak Remembers, so he's healthy. Hopefully they can do this thing.
Javonte Williams looked really strong running the ball, and they
looked good it until Seed dropped go pass. So I
will take the Cowboys to not only win against the
Giants at home, but I'll take them to win fairly big.
Minus five and a half seems easy to me.
Speaker 3 (54:11):
I'm gonna go with uh. I want to go with
the dog here so bad, just because I'm gonna I'm
gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (54:19):
Give me the Bears plus five and a half on
the road at Detroit. I know it's a risky pick, John,
it really is. Okay, However, I do believe, like I
just mentioned, Jared Goff is not the same guy man.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
He's not.
Speaker 4 (54:35):
And I think the Bears after a heartbreaking loss like that,
are finally gonna start to get things going. They're gonna
turn it around, and Ben Johnson is gonna get a win,
his first win in his hometown of Detroit, where he
just was.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
I got good news for you. They're actually plus six
right now, so you can have them the extra half
point there. As we're making our picks on this Wednesday,
my final one, I'm gonna go back to the team
that won me my first one.
Speaker 5 (55:05):
Here.
Speaker 1 (55:05):
It's another spread of five and a half. It's the
Rams again because they're playing at the Titans this week.
I just think that they are the much better team here.
This is a little bit bigger of a spread than
they had over the Texans, But the Rams are gonna
be benefiting from the fact they play this division three
times in the first four weeks. They do have to
play the Eagles next week, which is really tough, but
(55:25):
after that they play the Colts. So I'm gonna take
them to win and win big at the Tennessee Titans. Here,
cam Ward, I don't think is gonna get a win
for a few weeks here. At least they showed us
that they're not a very good team even when given
a really good field position over and over and over again.
So I will take the Rams minus five and a
half on the road as my final hardlock pick.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Ding ding ding ding ding, And that does four as
RD RD.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
Yes, a couple of dogs on both sides for us.
So actually I had one, you technically have two with
the Patriots plus one and a half and the Bears
plus six. All right, Randal, The final segment of our
show is the People's Parlay. It debuted last week and
as I mentioned a few times throughout the show, now,
unfortunately we came up one leg short with the Falcons
(56:15):
money line dropping. So the Cowboys they did hit for us,
the Steelers hit for us, and the under and the
Jaguars Panthers game hit. But you can't win when you
have three or four unless you use your ghost leg
boost on DraftKings, which I did not do and I
did not do it again this week by accident when
I booked the one I already booked. But Randal, I
(56:36):
have the People's Parlay for this week. If you'd like
to introduce the segment.
Speaker 5 (56:42):
It's for the Peak pol my People's PARLAYE.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
Okay, good, So, Randal, this week for the spread, We've
locked in Cleveland plus eleven and a half. You want
to comment on that pick or no, you.
Speaker 4 (57:08):
Want me to keep going, I'll just keep going, John,
I told you I watched Cleveland play.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
They looked great, don't I mean?
Speaker 4 (57:15):
Also, the Ravens look great, and they might just absolutely
wipe the floor with Cleveland, which is very possible. But
I do think the Browns can keep this thing together
if they clean that up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (57:26):
On the Laco Flacco going back to Baltimore too. We
are taking the under in the Commander's Packers game under
forty eight and a half, so this will get us
started on Thursday again. This was the one that I
maybe had a little bit hard of a time of taking,
but I don't necessarily disagree. This is gonna be in
(57:46):
green Bay. The Commander's gotta go out there. Green Bay
looked good the other day. But you know I'm riding
with you on this one. Randall, you like the under
forty eight and a half?
Speaker 3 (57:55):
Here, I love the under forty eight and a half,
don't just.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
Like I love Okay, sorry to tell you short there.
We're going with the Chargers money line as our favorite.
They're on the road against the Raiders, But I just
think they're the much better team in this situation. I
think Randall agrees, especially after the Raiders came across the
country for a win and opening day and the Falcons
(58:19):
the team that sold us on week one. We're going
back to them as our underdog winner. They are at
the Vikings this week, and we both agree that they
should be able to kind of bounce back. The odds
were plus one to sixty, so actually a little bit
heavier of an underdog than they were last week. But Randal,
those are the four legs for the People's Parlay. It's
(58:41):
ten dollars to win one forty nine right.
Speaker 3 (58:45):
Now on Dragons, So love that great odds.
Speaker 1 (58:49):
Yes, plus thirteen ninety seven as I currently booked it
this evening. You can get in and tail the People's
Parlay with us. So far we are down ten dollars
on the season. So Randal, that concludes the People's Parlay.
Speaker 3 (59:05):
It's fun, my peek.
Speaker 1 (59:09):
Okay, anything else that we didn't talk about? Do you
want to talk about Bill Belichick being like a twenty
year old girl talking about how he doesn't want the
Patriots to come to his practices? Do you want to
talk about anything else in the world? Tom Brady anything?
He what his broadcast report did week one, Bailey's algy,
(59:31):
whatever he's up to, driving for Uber or delivering DoorDash.
Speaker 4 (59:36):
I hate you, John, that's not nice about talk about
my favorite player like that.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
But I'm good John. We had a great episode, great
great segments today.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
It's good to be back, my man. It really is
good to be back. Well, that'll do it for us.
We will be back for week three next week. Our
Week two recap, Week three preview next week. Until then, randall,
go ahead and take us home. Good Night, every buddy,
thanks for listening. We'll see you next time.
Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
Goodbye, goodbye, good friends, goodbye.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
This was the recap of week one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
There were winks and losses and favorite one and there's
gonna be some upsts, upsets, long friends,
