Speaker 1 (00:21):
What is going on everybody? Welcome, Welcome, Welcome back to
another edition of the John and Randall Football Experience. I'm
Jonavino and joining me as all these from Florida is
Randall Minogue. Randall, Welcome back to the show.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
John, thanks for having me. Always a pleasure being a guest.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
First time, long time. You know that's what they say
when you call in the station.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Of course I've said it multiple times.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
When I was growing up, I used to listen to
you know, back then in Boston.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
It was w ee.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
I used to be the hot stuff, you know, the
Big Ohs show, so I called him. They used to
have this thing called the Wiener Winer Line. I'm not
sure if you ever heard of it. It was fantastic.
People would call in John. People would call in and
talk and they would just kind of like basically bitch
about problems. They would if they would say, hey, John,
(01:17):
I can't believe how bad the Red Sox sucked. They
needed it was just a bunch of crying and winding
and it was like you were leaving a voicemail and
then they would just go in and play it. It
was the funniest thing. I gotta find some YouTube videos
of it if they have it.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yeah, should we start our own wier winer line here?
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Oh, because just start the weeder winer line or the
booty cheek cline.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Either way, We've we've got a whole lot of brand
new stuff going on. Uh. Well, it's great to talk
to you, my man. It's been a fun, fun week
of football. Obviously the trade deadline, it just happened the
other day. You know, we had a couple of peekings
move around. But you know how we do. We're gonna
start with quick hits like we always do.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Start with what.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Quick hits, hits.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Like when you make your I need you to be
quicker than that job for quick hits.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Okay, okay? Uh Well, Dak Prescott was injured this past week.
He uh, he injured his hamstring. He's gonna miss at
least the next four weeks with this hamstring injury, and
that's gonna decideline them him and it's really going to
impede the Cowboys chances of winning when they've already had
a hard time winning.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
I don't know, did you see anything about James Jones
calling out Dak Prescott on TV and calling him a quitter?
Basically saying that as a non rushing quarterback, it has
a hamstring injury. The fact that he went on IR
is kind of embarrassing, and he's like he's quitting on
the team. I don't know if I'll go that far
as it is quitting, but I will say that the
(02:55):
Dallas Cowboys season has gone from bed to as bad
as it possibly can be.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Dak going out, yeah, I mean I really didn't see
them losing to the Falcons this week.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
I know there were dogs on the road.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Look, he picked the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah, I thought.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I thought that was gonna be an easy game for
them to get back on track.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
I was wrong. Kirk Cousin has played well.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
But regardless, I don't think it matters because no, who's
stepping up John Cooper Rush Cooper Rush. That man is
five and one in his career as a starter. Okay, however,
his one loss is coming up against the team that
they're playing this week, the Eagles. But he is five
(03:38):
and one as a starter and his QBR he's basically
identical to Dak, if not a little bit better at
ninety five point eight. So with that being said, they
could move off of Dak keep Cooper Rush use that
money to go elsewhere, build the team up and bada
bing bad the boom. Next thing you know, Cooper Rush
(03:58):
is the man.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
They just saying that they just signed da didn't they
They did?
Speaker 3 (04:05):
They did.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I remember my first, my first quick hit in this
show's history was that Dak Prescott wasn't gonna be on
the Cowboys next year, and then he signed a contract
like a day later.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, So I mean, I really I want to know
if Cooper Rush does well.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
So say he's out two weeks, got.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
The egos in the Texans, he will probably win one
of those games, I really believe. Then you have Commanders, Giants, Bengals,
Panthers winnable games there as well. So I'd like to
I love watching Cooper Rush come in and do well.
I love seeing the backup QB play above.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
His means you must love that new Uh what is
it the Nationwide or Progressive or one of the insurance
companies where they have the backups. They got like case
Keenum and they've got oh yeah, Josh Dobbs, and they
got Colt McCoy. They've got like the all the backups
in there. Like you must live for that because like
you love these backup quarterbacks between Bailey Zappi and Mike
(05:07):
White and Gardner Minshew and now now this guy.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
I see value in the undervalued backup QB that could
potentially be a great starter if they put the right
pieces around.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Him and letting him loose. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
So you're trying to tell me that the Cowboys aren't
cooked just because their quarterback is out.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
I think they're actually in a better position because their
quarterback is out, John.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
They're in a better position because Dak is out.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
That's interesting because I don't think Dak is bad.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
No, he's not bad, but I just saying he's not.
He's not doing as well as he should be. The
team around him isn't doing as well either, But all
do you think do you.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Think he's quitting on the team? Then by sitting out
for at least four weeks with a hamstring injury.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Hamstring injuries can be serious, you know, I mean like
that if he It depends though, because I do see
the point in saying he's not a rushing He's not
a running quarterback, right, So how bad is it hurting
for him to just be able to take a couple
of dropbacks, sit in the pocket, let it loose. If
(06:15):
there's pressure in your face, get rid of it, right,
run the ball. More so unless it's Dallas saying fuck it,
let's put him on the Let's put him on the
IR quick for four weeks and if we lose, we're
going to get a better draft pick. And if we
happen to win, perfect, it's a win win scenario for them.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
I'm thinking two is if Cooper Rush doesn't work out,
they still have Trey Lance over there.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
They do, But I also think it's an easy out
for them too. Right, maybe Dak did want to play
and they said, nah, we're putting you on the IR.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
We need you to be able to run.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
So now if they news it's hey, yeah, well Dak
was on the IR. We were still gonna win out
the rest of the way. He got hurt.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
I'm thinking it could be a cop out.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Well maybe, but either way, they didn't win this game.
Kirk Cousin looked really good, as you said, which is
the other half the coin here. They did have an
injury as well. Drake London left this game with a
hip injury. Hopefully he'll be Okay, But the Falcons or
the other half this coin Randall, and they've been really good.
They're six and three. They lead that division, which is
(07:33):
kind of falling apart because of the rest of the
teams in it. So, you know, what do you think
of the Falcons? Another good win for them here against
a team that maybe wasn't as good as we thought
they were. We think they're gonna be or whatever you
think they're gonna be with Cooper Rush, But what do
you think of the Falcons as part of this win.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I think they're doing well, John, I mean, they're doing
what they need to do essentially, and they're beating up
on bad teams. They're six and three. Surprisingly, it doesn't know,
I don't know how they've been in tight games.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
You know.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Cowboys this week was a one possession last week the
Bucks was a one possession. Yeah, they lost to they
got blown out by Seattle. But they are doing a
good enough job to win the division. Because at the
end of the day, who's in their division? John, what
is their division? Their division is essentially.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yes, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Everybody's under five hundred in that division besides them, So
they're sitting in the driver's seat. They control their own destiny.
They play the Panthers again, They're gonna play the Saints again.
They already finished their series with the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
And swept them. So they're they're looking, they're looking really
pretty right now.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Yeah, it would take a colossal screw up or some
major injury to the Falcons for them to not end
up as a division winner in that division at this point.
All right, So that game that covers us there, and
you know, obviously quick Hits is brought to you by Randall.
(09:06):
All right, so let's go back to thanks or to Thanksgiving.
I was gonna say to Halloween. Last week on Thursday,
it was kind of spooky, And by spooky, I mean
the stat line A. CJ. Stroud had not a good
game for him. The Jets, on the other hand, were
shut out in the first half, and it came out
and outscored the Texans twenty one to six in the
second half to get the record to three and six. Randall,
(09:28):
I ask you a simple question. Did the Jets save
their season with this win against the Texans?
Speaker 3 (09:36):
No, John, they did not save the season.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
The only thing they saved is the hope of Jets
fans to last another week longer. That's the only thing
they say, because essentially they're they're done, They're they're out
of here, John, I mean, yeah, you're you're three and six,
your second, your second in your own your second in
your division at three and six, which is absolutely wild
(09:59):
too as well, Right, but you're chasing Buffalo's. It's gonna
be tough to catch up to them, and I don't
see them getting a wild card spot. They are bad, John.
Even in this game, they got lucky on the comeback.
They got lucky that Houston missed two field goals, right,
They got lucky that Houston wasn't able to punch the
ball in when they were in the red zone a
(10:20):
couple of times.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
So, I mean, ultimately, I am not sold that the
Jets are playoff bound or just in general saved the season.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I actually am am kind of on the same page
of you here, because quite frankly, they did beat a
team that is probably going to be a playoff team
or pretty close to it in the Texans. But when
you look at their outlook on their schedule, it doesn't
really get a whole lot easier. I mean, they have
winnable games, certainly, but they're also you know, we look
at teams sometimes when we play this game, Oh can
(10:54):
we beat them? Can we not beat them? And often
we're just looking at the team that they're playing and
saying that team's not very good. I think you have
to account for how the Jets have played when you
look at these games. So if you're looking at them
straight up against the Cardinals in Arizona, you'd say the
Cardinals at five and four, have been the better team
this year between the two of them, So on paper,
I would think that Arizona should win it. The spread
(11:15):
for this game is kind of interesting, it's even, but
that's the kind of game they're gonna be playing in
a lot more than not here down the stretch of
this season. I don't necessarily think they saved it either.
Their nine games in, they only have three wins, which
means that they have less games to go than they've
already played. And best case scenario, even if they won
six of their final eight games, you're looking at eight wins,
(11:36):
so or sorry, nine wins. So I don't think that
nine wins is something to scoff at, but it's also
not going to probably not gonna get in the playoffs,
and if it does, you're gonna be a very, very
low seed. So show me a couple more wins in
a row if you're the Jets before I start buying
in completely.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Yeah again, I think, and I've been high on the
Cincinnati Bengals. I think they're the only team that has
been poor that has a chance to make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
And why is that?
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yeah, they're defenses a crass, but their offenses a juggernaut.
Joe Burrows actually doing really well. If they were winning
games and they had a better defense, Joe Burrow would
be in the MVP conversation. But he's not because they're
four and five.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Well, that's the person transition to this game. And he
had five touchdown pass against the Raiders the other day.
They won their back to four and five, and their
team trending in the right direction.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Right direction.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Indeed, they have the players, they're playing well, right, and
we get a rematch of a team that they just
lost to this upcoming week, the Eagles, which is going
to be a fantastic matchup, by the way.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
But the Bengals. Bengals are not playing the Eagles this week.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah, Thursday Night Football.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
No, they're playing the Ravens. My man, they already lost
to the Eagles this week.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Oh the Ravens. Sorry, I'm Birds, John, You know the Birds.
They think, yeah, that's that's that's my fault, thank you
for I'm like, I'm pretty sure they're playing Thursday night
versus the Birds.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
You're like, they lost to them already this year, and
I'm like, yeah, they did. They don't play the Eagles twice,
That's that's not how that works. But they they did
lose to the Ravens too, in overtime in in Cincinnati.
So it's a chance on Thursday Night might actually be
the best Thursday Night game of the year that we get.
So that'll be a fun one to watch out for. Uh.
(13:27):
But yeah, I mean, this offense is clicking on all cylinders.
It's really gonna come down for the Bengals. Like you
just said, can their defense consistently keep teams below what
they're scoring? And if you have to make a statement,
this is the week to make the statement because you're
playing the best or one of the best offenses in
the league. So far, the rushing attack for the Ravens
has been ridiculous. So if you're Joe Burrow, you just
(13:49):
got to keep doing what you're doing, because I mean
he's been able to find a ton of different receivers
within his offense. They brought Mike Geseki in. He had
two touchdowns in this game. You know, andre yovas that
third receiver that has been pretty good for them. You know,
Jamar Chase has obviously come to life the last couple
of weeks as well, So this has been fun to
(14:11):
way right right. And and what's his name is also hurt?
Not Chase Brown. Zach Moss is also hurt. Now the
Bengals did are the Yeah, I think the Bengals just
made a trade for running back. I think they got
Khalil Herbert from the Bears, which should help their depth there.
But right now, their offense is not the problem. So
they're gonna be just fine there. It just comes down
to defensively for them and the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Yeah, the Raiders on the other side of this game,
I mean, they're just a mess. They fired they fired
a couple offensive coaches this week. I think Antonio Pearce
probably won't last past this season, and if he does,
the Raiders are gonna make a lot of changes around
him because it's just not been good this year. This year, obviously,
they're missing the most important player on the field as well.
(14:56):
They don't have consistent play a quarterback. We actually saw
Desmond come into this game and uh and throw the
only touchdown pass for them that they had. But so.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Then that comes to difference like, Okay, yeah, we're gonna
let go with the coach. But at the same time,
it's okay, was the coach to one that drafted this team? No,
because he's only in his second season as head coach, right.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Last year he took over last year during yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Exactly, so he's in his first year. He didn't draft anybody.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Who does he have a court And I'm a big
Gardner Minshew guy, I.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Love Gardner Minshew.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Yeah right, but realistically, who does Gardner Minshew have around them.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
But the Monte Adams anymore.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
So it's that's the thing where, Okay, are these guys expecting,
like are they going into the season saying, yeah, we're
gonna compete and we're gonna be able to win with
this team. I mean, realistically, they have to know that
that's not gonna be the case. So either it's an
out for the coach where they're just gonna use that
as the scapegoat, or they're gonna go and try to
(16:03):
do something to make it work with this guy.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
I mean, I just don't know if he is the
most equipped guy for the job. It's nothing against him
or it's not. I mean, your point is valid, Like
usually you do want to see these guys have their
own you know, the old Bill Parcells saying or whatever,
you got to pick your own groceries to make it
all work. It's obviously not exactly what he said, but
that's I think with a lot of mindset, if people
(16:28):
is let me get my own guys first before you
can me. But I just don't know if Antonio Pierce
was ever really deserving of a head coaching job. It
almost was like Jeff Saturday on steroids, because remember what
happened with him, you know, he got hired off of TV. Basically.
The only difference here was Antonio Pierce was actually a
coach before this, but he just got kind of thrust
(16:48):
into a position that he had never never been close
to prior. So I don't know. I think he'll be
a good coach, you know, coach for a long time.
I just don't know. If head coach is the right
move for him or right position for him. But again,
I mean your point is valid. They don't have a
ton of good players around him, so what are they
supposed to do? The Dolphins and Bills played a pretty
(17:09):
close game up in Buffalo, but the Dolphins were still
unable to win the second game back for Tua as
he came back and played. And I just think, you know,
right now, they're kind of free falling. They've lost how
many games are now three straight since that win against
the Patriots when they didn't have Tua. But this Bills team,
(17:31):
I mean, they're doing just enough to win a lot
of these games. And in this case, they won it
on a Tyler Vast sixty one yard field goal.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
An absolute boot of a kick, John, an absolute boot
of a kick.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
The golden boot.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Miami, smell you. They are done, so John, that is that.
That's that's a wrap for the Dolphins and the Finns. John,
you can kiss them goodbye. They're winning ways, they're gone. Buffalo,
Buffalo superior in that division.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Now.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
It's it's clear as they they are superior. They are
the daddies of every team in the division.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Now, So you are you willing to call You're willing
to call AFC East because you picked the Dolphins to
win the division this year.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Yeah, also didn't pick two it to get hurt and
play like shit either, you know what I mean? But yes,
I didn't think. Also, the Bills were going to be
able to sustain this. I thought they were going to
continue to go down and decrease in value.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
I thought. But I am because I picked the Jets.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I know you picked the Jets. I think that one
was worse than my pick.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Okay, both they're both two win teams, so or I
guess that one more win.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
But yeah, But and with that being said, I am
willing to crown our first division champ. For a second,
we could say if we crowned the Falcons the first one.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
I mean, the Chiefs are eight No, my man, we
haven't even got to them.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yet ever, never count them out yet. But maybe we
got three division champs.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
So yeah, I mean, I don't know if the Dolphins
are done the Bills. The Bills are good, but I
don't know if they're as good as every hethinks they are.
I mean, they've won seven games.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Cooper didn't play last week either, though, so their help
that they got didn't play.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Yeah, I know, but it's I just feel like they're
missing something, even with him, and I mean, he's a
great player, and I'm sure he'll fit in good a
long long term for them, at least this year, long
term down the road, But I don't know. I mean,
Josh Allen's having a great year. They're having a good year.
I'm not trying to take anything away from it. I
just don't know how they're gonna stack up against the
(19:40):
better teams in the NFL, although they are now exactly
what I was just gonna say, like.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Say that Kansas City Chiefs, Shohn, I'm selling you these
This team could have lost so many games right now.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Yeah, so many, but they are making moves.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
You're brought in Kareem Hunt back, He's he's been fantastic.
DeAndre Hopkins finally had a great game.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah yeah, go ahead, keep talking. You want to talk
about them. It was the Monday night game, but we
can jump around.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Uh well, I was just I was just kind of
going with the Bills. I get they haven't looked great,
but I'm more confident in them than I am Kansas City.
I mean, if you were running the same boat. Maybe
maybe they're both in the same boat. They're even they
win games, they've won games that they're kind of like.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I'm willing to compromise with you. If I was ranking
AFC teams right now, I would probably be Ravens won,
Bills two and then Bengals three, Chiefs four. You know,
not by record, just how by a field right now?
About them?
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Of course, of course, the only thing is I feel
like one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL
is the Ravens. Right when they play like great, they
have two ways of playing great and bad.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
They don't have.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
What Buffalo and Kansas City has where they can get
away with a little bit more to still compete and
win the game. When things are going bad for the Ravens,
it's going bad and they're just.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Out. Yeah, even though Labar is having a great year,
I get that.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
The losses they've had this year. You know, they lose
Week one to the Chiefs, which you know, it is
what it is. They lose Week two to the Raiders
and remember how that game broke down because the Ravens
were up big. And then they lose not this past week,
but the week before to the Browns Jameis Winston in
Cleveland and you know, a lot of energy there. But
I know what you're saying. I mean, they play some
(21:44):
of these games they look like the best team in
the league, and in other games they don't. But that's
what I'm saying is right now, if I had to
pick out of any of them, even though the Bills
have a little bit better record, I think any of
the Chiefs have the best record, I still think I
feel most comfortable saying if I had to pick right now,
I think I picked the Ravens to win out of
any of those. But that's why they play the games.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Randall.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
We have a long way to go.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
We do we should do.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Next week like kind of like or in two weeks,
like a three quarter way breakdown, you know, our top
five teams in the division and who we think is
gonna win.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Still, yeah, yeah, let's do a bonus show. Let's start
recording two shows a week. What do you think can
I contract you for that?
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Hey? Now, the sponsors will pay for that, So don't
you worry.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
The Commanders beat the Giants in a tight game this week, Randall,
And you have been high on the Commanders. This is
one of those where I'll give you credit because if
we're checking in on division winners this year, and I
think we've mentioned this a few times now, but you
had the Commanders on the season preview show. As you're
a NFC East Division winner, and you want to talk
(22:55):
about a team that's right out in front of it
right now, the Washington Commanders are that team.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
I know the.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Eagles won, I know the Eagles are playing fine, but
the Commanders right now are the team to beat in
the NFC East.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Jandon Daniels, Man, I mean, Dan Campbell's doing a great
job with that team. He's probably looking back saying I
got out of Dallas just in time.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Hold on, hold on, back up, hold on, hold on.
His name is uh?
Speaker 3 (23:23):
It's Campbell.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Campbell's the Lions coach.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Oh my god, I'm blanking.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
What's his Uh?
Speaker 1 (23:31):
It's the d n C.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
I definitely know he was the coordinator for Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I need you to figure this out. I can't give this.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
One to you. Oh my god, John, he was the Falcons.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
He was the Falcons decordinator as well.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Yes, yes, oh my god, Oh my god, Washington Dan Commanders,
Dan camp.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
There you go, There you go.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Dad, Cliff, that is crazy.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Oh my god. He's like, Nope, not Dan Campbell.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
And then I said Dan, and you're like Dan Campbell,
that's great. But yeah, you can talk about Cliff Kingsbury
too if you want.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Courts. I mean, I think this is perfect.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Cliff Kingsbury, young guy used to working with the younger quarterbacks.
I think with him back in just the offensive coordinator role,
he's able to have them working efficiently and if this
is their first year altogether, they want. They won the draft,
and I know the Bears have a better offense around Caleb,
(24:52):
but Jayden Daniels is just a stud. And when you
have a stud like that, John, you can put bits
and pieces around him to tighten them up. And they're
gonna be a great team in this division for the
next couple of years.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
I think they're gonna go ahead.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
No, I'm just gonna say, I think they're gonna be
that team like the Cowboys were the last like five years,
getting those ten twelve win seasons every single year in
that division. I think that our shift is starting to
turn to them.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
I think what you just said is really smart and
interesting too. I'd like to give you some credit for it.
I think what you mentioned about the fact that Jade
Daniels doesn't have as many weapons as a guy like
Caleb Williams, but he's still performing better. I think that's
what you look for in these guys. You know, if
you think of Tom Brady or even Mahomes, as much
as you want to hate on them, their ability is
(25:47):
to make players around them better, and you know, they
don't have to have the stud receivers to get success
because they're able to do it and bring the best
out of them. I think that you know, Jayden Daniels,
Terry McLaurin, it's not like he doesn't have anything, but
the better he can play without, you know, them spending
money on guys around him, the better long term they're
gonna be without having to do that. The more they
(26:09):
can spend on guys on the offensive line to protect him,
they're gonna be able to reinvest a lot of things
around him. Whereas the Bears, you know, ultimately maybe they
will find success with Caleb Williams, but maybe it does
mean they have to keep retaining guys at these positions
to make their offense, you know, click and be successful.
So it'll be interesting to see the development of both
of them. But your point is, and I think extremely
(26:31):
right right now too, that the Commander has won the draft,
There's no.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Right now. It's not to say the Bears lost it,
but right now the Bears are in a drastically different
situation than the Commanders are. And you know that is
case in point with this week. The Bears have just
been very up and down. They lost a game this
week by three touchdowns to the Cardinals. They never really
had a chance, even though they kicked a bunch of
field goals in the first half. That was all their offense.
(26:57):
This game was weird. Did you catch any of this
game Randle on Red Zone or I don't know if
you watch any of it. But there was like weather
happening even though it's a dome, and they were trying
to get the roof closed, and there was like hail
coming down while they were trying to close it.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Yes, I was like, what is going on right now?
I couldn't believe it. And then I saw they were
trying to close the roof. It would have been this
awesome they just kept playing in it.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Yeah, well, I mean it was pretty disruptive. To at
least the Bears, I guess, but the Cardinals end up
figuring out a way to play through it. They won.
You know, the Cardinals are leading the NFC West right now.
Do you look at them as a legit team, as
a chance to make a playoff run this year?
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Yes, in the sense of I don't know about a
playoff run, but I think they're gonna make the playoffs. Okay,
I think Seattle's starting to slip down a little bit.
Sam fran Is gonna pick it up. But I see
Arizona winning a wildcard spot for sure. I do, though,
believe Arizona needs to throw the ball better. I don't
(28:03):
think that they're getting the ball to their threats, which
are obviously Marvin Harrison's junior James Connor has been a
piece for them, But I need to see them do
a much better job throwing the ball.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Yeah, Kyler has had an okay year. I mean he's
been pretty good protecting the football. He does have eleven
touchdown passes, and Martin Everson has been pretty good. But
I know what you're saying. You just want to see
a little bit more consistency from this offense because they've
been a little bit unbalanced at times, though it is
working for them when they win these games. So, you know,
good on the Cardinals. You just mentioned the Seahawks. They
(28:39):
are down after this loss to the Rams. Randal. The
Rams are charging back after winning what their third straight
game here. They were one and four after the first
five games. They beat the Raiders, they beat the Vikings
on Thursday Night Football, which I didn't even mention last episode,
I don't think, and then they beat the Shawks this
(29:01):
past week in overtime with my boy Maddie Staffs throwing
a dime fifty yards down the field to walk it off.
I'm pretty excited that the Rams are right back in
the thick of things here.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Randall.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
They are going to be a playoff team this year.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Mark my words, absolute nuke And it really is crazy.
You know, you go on the road, you win, your
Puka Nukula gets thrown out with the ad minutes of
the game starting.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
What was your take on that job?
Speaker 1 (29:29):
I mean, it was kind of weird how it all
happened so quickly. You know, I don't disagree with him
being thrown out necessarily, but I do think it was
kind of odd how it was portrayed on TV because
I was watching this game because I watch all the
RAMS games, and the way they were talking about was
so matter of factly, like, yeah, he threw a punch,
(29:49):
he needs to be out. And I looked at it
and as like, you know, he might not have he
might not have been the the the you know, the
first aggressor or this or whatever he might have been.
He's the main aggressor. But I looked at it as
almost like a mutual kind of thing between two guys.
And yeah, he extended his arm out towards the helmet,
but I didn't look at his like throwing a punch.
So when these broadcasters were talking about it like he
(30:11):
did something vicious, it was kind of annoying me, Like,
don't talk about it like he was out there swinging
his helmet around trying to kill something.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
He's not that type of guy anyway, you know. No.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
That was the other part was you could see how
shocked he was because he sat on the bench for
a few minutes before he even left the field, which
obviously he probably should have left the field right away,
but he was just kind of sitting there in disbelief,
and then he finally ran off the field, and when
he went out, I was a little bit like, oh, man,
of course this is how this is gonna happen, because
you know he was he was fine last week and
(30:41):
then in practice this past week apparently he banged something
up again so he was questionable. And then he's fine again,
he's gonna play, and then he gets thrown out and
you're like, what the hell is going on? So luckily
Cooper Cup has been really good when he's healthy. Matthew
Stafford loves finding him. And honestly, when they have these
other guys Cooper Cup and Pooka and Akua, DeMarcus Robinson
(31:03):
ends up being a big threat because the team doesn't
have anybody to cover him. When DeMarcus Robinson's the number
one guy, that's a bad sign for the Rams. When
he's the number three guy, it allows him to do
other things and that's why he's caught like four touchdowns
the last two games. So I'm pretty excited. I mean
the Rams, you know, they they're always gonna get me
to watch their games. Uh, they have the Dolphins on
(31:25):
Monday Night this week, and then they're coming to New
England baby for the seventeenth They're playing the Patriots, So
they've got winnable games up coming. Hopefully they can win
their next two. Even if they don't, they get through
one and one, they'd be five and five. So I
feel pretty good about the outlook of the season right now.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
And I'm there with you. I'm there with you as
this team, this Rams team, they're well coached, right like
best coach league. I wouldn't go that far, but you know,
maybe better. I mean, I do think that.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
He's doing a great job.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
I like Kyle Shanahan, right like, I think he's doing
a fantastic job.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
He knows you're not gonna say Mike Tomlin's name because
you hate that guy.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
I do hate him. He's always winning though. But know
who I do think could be a fantastic.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Coach, Dan Campbell, Yes, Sir Dan DC. Maybe Dan Campbell.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
I mean, this guy is really and he has to
be in because in that conversation as well, just because
of what he's done with the historical franchise that has
been pissed poor for its entirety, right And with that
being said, you gotta put him in the conversation. But
(32:52):
Sean McVay always staying competitive even when guys are out.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
It's very impressive.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah, I mean this is h He's been great and
uh and I'm gonna say he's the best coach either.
If you don't agree, so that's fine. But this was
a great win. Matthew Stafford is a dog. He still
got it. I don't care what anybody says. This guy's
a legend. Panthers and Saints played arguably the most competitive
game of the weekend. Randall, Uh, the Panthers won their
(33:21):
second game. Did you feel happy for Bryce Young?
Speaker 3 (33:25):
A little shocked?
Speaker 2 (33:26):
I mean I actually picked them John with the spread
in our in our picks, that mean you do off
the air and normally they've been letting me down there.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
But turns out he actually did well.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
And hey, good for him. He needed a win, He
needed a game. Not only were they won, but they
actually put up points.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Right, he was due for a game.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
He had one of the worst starts to his career
of any NFL quarterback. I don't see your number one
pick man. Brutal, Absolutely brutal. It's not even like he's
He was throwing for a lot of yards before throwing
touchdowns and just making bad plays.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
He just wasn't doing anything. Yeah, he was not doing anything.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Well. Derek Carr. All I know is that he must
be like, what is going on here? They did fire
Dennis Allen the Saints. They were the first team to
let their head coach go besides the Jets obviously, so
they let Dennis Allen go, and now I don't even
know who was named interim head coach. But they've got
a lot of things to figure out down there. They
started the season two and zero with the Saints and
(34:31):
they've lost seven straight games. So things are, as they say,
trending in the wrong direction, which I think is an
understatement at this point. The Eagles beat the Jaguars. He
got a little bit, you know, a little bit close
for comfort, I'm sure there at the end of the
game for Eagles fans, but they did pull off the
five point victory. You know, in the end. A couple
(34:51):
of really nice plays, especially the catch from DeVante Smith
Randal between I'm sure you saw the catch by DeVante
Smith and the catch by Garrett Wilson. Which one would
do you think was better this past week?
Speaker 3 (35:07):
I gotta go Garrett Wilson, right, I mean that.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Yeah, that that was for one that truly mattered in
the game for them to win, that needed to be
a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
I gotta go Garrett Wilson, that was yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Plus just how close the shin in the knee were
to being at Like the shin was in the knee
was out, you know what I mean. Like, that's how
close it was. So I'll say, Garrett Wilson, too good,
good call. And then what other games do we have here?
We had? Oh yeah, we didn't get to talk about
the Patriots and Titans yet, Randall, how about Drake May.
(35:45):
Drake May had that miraculous throw at the end of
regulation to tie the game up.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Yeah, and there's a video where you can watch the
left tackle right before Drake May gets smoked by two
guys as he's throwing that ball. You can watch the
left tackle just let you guys go blatantly by him.
It was absolutely insane that this guy did not try
(36:10):
to even touch a single soul and they should have
went for two.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
The Patriots should have went for two.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
But at the end of the day, I really am
excited with what Drake May has to offer. What I'm
not excited about is the trade deadline came and went
and we absolutely did nothing to benefit our team for
the future. We gave away players for a nothing of
a draft pick, and it's just gonna be very, very,
(36:40):
very long rebuilding period, see, even though we got the
most cap space in the NFL starting next year.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
That's what I was just gonna say is I don't
know if it's gonna be this long rebuild like Patriots
fans feel like now, because if you do indeed have
the quarterback, which I don't want to jinx anything, but
this kid looks ten times better than mac Jones did,
and mac Jones had a better coaching structure around him
and arguably better players for his first couple of years there,
(37:07):
although that's very arguable because it's not that they've ever
had really great players in that offense besides Tom Brady,
Randy Moss, Robnkowski, Ernandez, whoever else you want to name.
But I just you know, Drake may looks like he
can play like to your point, So if he's the guy,
then suddenly you're that much closer and the rebuild doesn't
look as daunting if you have another, you know, early
(37:28):
pick this year, which I think right now the Patriots
are in contention for that top pick again, right if
they end up with the top pick or somewhere close,
they can take a position other than quarterback now to
help build them, and then all the cap space you're
talking about only goes to benefit the rest of the
team as well. So I don't think that the Patriots
are in for this long, big rebuild. I think as
soon as you know that you have the quarterback, things
(37:49):
start to trend the right direction. The question is just
going to be for them, do they have the coach?
And I will ask you, would you have liked to
see them go for two after they got within one
before the end of regulation?
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (38:03):
Why wouldn't you just go for the win right then
and there? It makes no sense. But again I'm glad
they lost. I want them to lose. I want them
to hopefully get the first or second overall pick. I
hope they get the first. The only thing with getting
the first is is there anybody in this draft class
that's worthy of that first overall?
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Like? Wow, yeah, that guy could help us.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
And right now they're predicting Schador Sanders to be that
number one not sorry, if not, shud Travis Hunter, but
it's are they going to allow him to be a
two way in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Okay, if they make him out.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
I think he's got to commit to one position.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Yeah, but it's where do you see more value for him?
Do you put him out wide receiver and make make
him a wide receiver? Do you put him at corner dB?
Like I want to know, because if they get the
first or second pick, I wouldn't be opposed to them
dropping back a little bit in the draft to take
an offensive lineman right where you're not gonna take that
(39:04):
with the first overall pick.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
If a guy wouldn't go number one overall.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Yeah, you'd like to move back a few picks, maybe
take a lineman and get another pick or two if
he can, just for moving back a few spots. It'll
be interesting to see how they approach it, certainly, and
if Travis Hunter does want to commit to one position
or the other, which ultimately I think he'll have to do,
I think receiver for his sake is probably the better
way to go, just because of all the money that's
out there at receiver. So you know, I mean, ultimately
(39:32):
it might not be up to him, but if he
had his way, I think he'd probably go receiver all right.
In the last couple of games. The Lions beat the Packers.
The Lions are seven and one, the Packers six and three. Now,
Jordan Love banged up a little bit in this game
again as he has been, but he was able to play.
Did he finish the game. I don't even know if
(39:53):
he finished the game.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
He played the entire game. But it just wasn't a
great performance from them. Through another pick, you know, the
lion just keep winning. Randall there right now. I think
they're as scary as a team as you've got in
the NFC.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
I mean, what else is there to say, John, It
doesn't matter the type of weather that they're playing in.
They just dominate.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
The Vikings. The Vikings got another win to to kind
of keep pace the top of that division after they
had had two straight losses. They beat the Colts Sunday night,
and then on Monday night, Rando, the last game of
the week, your favorite team won in overtime, the Chiefs
beat the Bucks. The Bucks did a good job just
to get there because of you know, all the players
they had missing with injuries. But the my favorite part
(40:40):
of this game is if you go watch the coin
toss in overtime, as soon as Baker Mayfield notices that
he lost the coin toss as well. It goes tilting
like what, He's like, you gotta be kidding me, Like,
there's no way we're gonna Look, it's like Home is
getting the ball first grade. I might as well just
pack it up.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Now that's the scenario where you go for two after
you tie the game.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah, I mean the Bucks are probably looking at it
more so like they're still in you know, the division,
maybe than the Patriots would be. But even that being said,
I mean you're there in Kansas City. If there's ever
a place and a time to do it, that would
be the place and time. I mean, even if you
think you're gonna be in division race, doesn't really matter.
I think if you got to have a chance to
(41:26):
get two yards to beat the Chiefs, that's your best
chance to win the game, not to go to overtime
and then have to see what happens, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Yeah, it has nothing to do with them being in
a division race. They could be up in the like.
It has to do with what is gonna give you
the best chance to win the game. Well it yeah,
and it's go for two, because why wouldn't. You don't
have many of you. You don't have Chris Gridwin, you
don't have Mike Evans. Right, you just mentioned you're on
(41:54):
the road in a tough environment. They're undefeated this year already. Clearly,
Now you're gonna leave it up to a coin top,
say you even win the coin toss, what do you
have to do? You have to march down get a
field goal, worst case scenario, right, And once you get
that field goal, who's to say that the Chiefs, who
you haven't been able to stop all night, aren't going
(42:15):
to be able to just march right down the field
and do what they do. Why are you not going
for two? Is beyond me? With your team that you have.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Yeah, I think that the whole analytic thing too, Like
that's such a big thing now. So the fact that
you're gonna say, like, oh, you know, analytics or this,
or analytics or that, and then you wouldn't go for
it there win again, it's only two yards that you
need to get to win the game. I think people
get caught up in the fact that it's so you know,
so decisive, like this is it. We can extend this
game if we kick the point but in reality, your
(42:45):
best shot is it's trying to do right exactly. Your
best shots is to win it right there. So Bucks
ended up losing, Patriots ended up losing. Both of them
had a chance to do it at the very end,
but they did not. And the Chiefs of course moved
to eight to oh. As I've been reminding Randall all
year long, they are kind of like a sleeping giant
even at eight tozer because Patrick Mahomes has not played
(43:05):
his best football. So just wait to see what happens
with this Chiefs team when it's all said and done.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's move on. Let's move on.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
All right, Well that does it for the the recap
from week nine, which is officially more than a halfway
point for us in the NFL season. I think we're
actually at the exact halfway mark of games played, according
to the great Scott Hansen on the Red Zone broadcast
the other day. So yeah, we're moving into week ten.
And with that, Randall, it's time to play guess that's spread.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
It's time to play guess yes.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
Spread, All right, Randal, it's time to play guess that's spread,
where we guess what kind of you know, spreads. We're
gonna be leaving out for each other's friends and family
that come over for the weekend. Just kidding. Uh, well,
we guess the lines of players in the NFL last week,
we both went one in three on guess that's spread. Uh,
(44:09):
it's been kind of a heroic season. Sorry, that's what
I meant to say. Yeah, yeah, we both had that.
We both went I meant to say one of three,
you know what I mean, like, we both have one
win at of three tries, and I did get the
hail mayor at the very end to tie you up.
As it's been kind of that kind of year for me. Red,
(44:31):
Do you realize that the last five weeks, I've had
at least one every week and two in another week,
So I've I've kind of been low key cooking. I mean,
you have two, You've been Okay, I've.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
Been missing some exact here and there on my wins,
but you know, one of us is due for an
exact counter is.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
Still at zero for the season, so this is by far.
You know, we only had exactis for the first time
last year, but you had a few of them by now.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
I feel like, yeah, I we had a lot last
year a lot last year.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
But John, here we go. Since you won.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
Would you like to go or we pushed but you
won the last one. Would you like to be home
or away?
Speaker 3 (45:09):
You tell me.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
I'll let you decide today.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
I'll let you hit first. Right now, so you're away.
We're gonna go, Bryce Young.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Oh, you can't do it. And you can't do it
because I I just looked at him. I was gonna
give him to.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
You court you were okay. I appreciate the honesty, John.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
We gotta have integrity if nothing else.
Speaker 3 (45:36):
Okay, how about this, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (45:38):
With Edwin Rogers a Rogers discount double check jets at
Arizona passing Yards.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Oh, man, I feel like I have no idea where
his passing yards usually are, although I feel like maybe
I've been on a couple of times. I think this
is gonna be low to two let's say two twenty.
Let's just keep it even, you know, even quarter century
Mark to twenty five and a half.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
To forty one and a half, John to forty one.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
Just warming up. I'll be all right, all right, Randall,
let's go to New Orleans and uh, let's see here
Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr. Which one do I want to
give you? Let's go with Derek Carr. How Falcons are
playing the Saints. Saints are booty cheeks, as we know
(46:32):
they need to win. What's Derek Carr's stat line?
Speaker 2 (46:37):
Derek Carr, He's gonna Atlanta allows some passing, some running.
It's gonna be at least two thirty nine and a half.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
Derek Carr's number is two hundred and a half.
Speaker 3 (46:57):
Good.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
Its gracious, that was the fucking gas coming out my
butthole right there.
Speaker 3 (47:05):
My god, that was brutal. That was brutal.
Speaker 1 (47:14):
Yep, Are you gonna give me another one? Now?
Speaker 2 (47:16):
I am gonna give you another one? Now, let's see here,
what do we got?
Speaker 3 (47:20):
We got? Uh the running back section? John.
Speaker 2 (47:23):
Let's go with this man that's been absolutely destroying, absolutely
destroying the running game for Carolina.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
Let's go with Chabba Hubbard, Hubba Hubbard New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
It's chub Chuba Hubbard in. So you're giving me Bryce
Young or you're gonna give me Bryce Young. So now
you're gonna give me Chewba Hubbard instead. All right, So
he's been pretty good this year, career high in rushing
touchdowns they're playing the Giants games in Jurmy. I'm gonna
(47:57):
say the number here is sixty two and a half.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Seventy and a half.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
John, Oh oh, I was right there. You were just
go a little higher. Okay, where do I want to
go with this one? How about we go to the
great state of Florida where you're residing right now. Minnesota
is playing Jacksonville this week down there, and I'd love
for you to tell me how many rushing yards Aaron Jones.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
Is set at, he's set at. I'm gonna say it's
it's gotta be in that stame realm. You we're just
talking about I'm gonna say sixty five and a half.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
Randall, it was sixty six and a half. Damn Well.
You're on the board though, and you put the pressure
on me for the last round again.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
I did, I did, I did beautiful. We got it.
We gotta gotta hold on now. So what can we do?
What can we do? All right? John? Here we go.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Don't hate me New England at Chicago. Give me Kendrick Bourne.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Oh my god, this guy's been brutal. The passing game
has been I mean, okay, but it's been a lot Hunter,
Henry Um God, to save my night. I'm gonna go
Kendrick Bourne. It's gotta be like low. Twenty four and
a half. That's probably high. But twenty four and a half.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
And see, this is the problem.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
And i'd give you these shitty ass guys, John nineteen
and a half it was.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
I knew it was a little high, but I just
stayed in the range. Baby, I just stayed in.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
Got the hell Mary paid off.
Speaker 1 (49:48):
I mean, you're right though, because I knew it couldn't
be higher than like thirty, So you know, all right,
So now you got this for the win? All right?
Oh boy, We've got Pittsburgh and we've got Washington. A
good game. You've loved the commanders this year. I want
you to tell me how many receiving yards Scary Terry
(50:11):
McLaurin is lined up for this weekend.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
Scary Terry, give me him at seventy three and a
half yards. That's probably low.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
You were a little bit high. It was fifty eight and.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
A half way high way high WAYI goddamn it.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
Another bush.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
It's all right, another one and three week for us
both or one and sorry, one of three, one of three.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
It happens, Sean, and that does it for.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Guess says no sread hooray, good job.
Speaker 1 (51:01):
All right, let's move on to let's move on to
hard lock. Shall we.
Speaker 3 (51:07):
Time four hard locks?
Speaker 1 (51:12):
Last week in hard locks, Randall once again took the mantle.
He was two and one. He's had a pretty good year.
I was one and two. If you look at our
records on the season, Randall is fourteen twelve and one.
I am twelve fourteen and one. So we're pretty close,
within the range of each other. Randall's had a winning
record overall in the year, and Randall, you did have
the better week in week nine.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
So congratulations, Thanks Sean, Thanks Sean. Four my first hard lock, John, yep,
I'm just gonna say you.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
Get to go first because you won.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
So we are gonna go with a team, John, a
team that is built like no other, and that team
is the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 3 (51:56):
Plus five and a half. Give me a dog, John.
Speaker 1 (52:01):
I'll give you at six because that's what I've got here.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Oh, even better, thank you.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Okay, So you're gonna take six points Cincinnati. That's a
pretty good pick. I'm gonna go ahead and take a
non underdog for my first one because I really like
the fact that the Atlanta Falcons are three and a
half point favorites at New Orleans this weekend. We've just
talked about the Saints in some of their troubles. They
(52:27):
just fired their coach. The Falcons have been kind of rolling.
Things are coming together nicely for them, even if Drake
London isn't back on the field for this game. I
like the fact that the Falcons should go into New
Orleans and win by at least four points, no problems.
So I will take the Falcons, give you them minus
three and a half.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
Beautiful, John, I've taken this team or picked against this team. Sorry,
I've taken the team. This team is going to be
playing a lot.
Speaker 3 (52:55):
Give me the job.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
At six and a half on the road at Carolina,
I think it was a flute game what we saw
out of Bryce Young. I think the Giants they need
a win to stay in this division hunt and Daniel
Jones needs a little bit of good luck on his
side to get the people and the viewers going. And
if they lose this game, it's gonna be bad news
for them. That is why give me Giants fine a
(53:16):
six and.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
A half All right. Just so you know, though you
said at Carolina, this game is being played in Germany
on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (53:22):
Oh yes, you're right. Sorry, nine a game even better.
Give me the give me the Giants even more so,
then I'll take them.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
And it's thirteen take the alternate line, is what he's
saying exactly. Yeah, okay, that's good. I'm gonna go with hmm,
where do I go with this one. There's a couple
of different places I could go with this one. I'm
gonna go with another road team. I'm gonna go with
a big spread too. It's killing me to take this
(53:52):
because I don't love it, but I do love it
at the same time. It's the San Francisco forty nine
Ers minus six, and the reason I love it is
three letter phrase. My friend c mc Christian McCaffrey will
be back for the forty nine ers this weekend, and
they have been a different team when he's been on
the field the last couple of years. And we obviously
know last year he scored basically in every game. So
(54:15):
I think San Fran going down to Tampa playing a
beating up Tampa team that's you know, just went to
overtime in Kansas City. I think they're gonna be in
a letdown spot. I don't think they I think they
overachieved a bit. So give me San Francisco. That defense
is unbelievable, and I think the offense will finally hit
their full strive this week. I like San fran minus six.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
I like it, Sean, I like that. I like that.
Speaker 2 (54:37):
Give me Hickory Dickory doc Old Hickory the Wood John
out in Nashville and Tennessee. Give me Tennessee plus seven
and a half on the road at the Chargers. I
think me Rudolph is doing a good job. I got
two dogs in my spread this week. Give me all
(55:00):
Hickory Hickory Dickory, Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (55:04):
Hickory Dickory Doc. All right, well, I'm gonna go with
the Rams for my last pick. They are one point
favorites at home. It's basically a pick them. The spread
currently at minus one, so that's where we'll clock them.
They're playing the Dolphins. They they're coming off three straight wins.
The Dolphins have not won a game in their last
(55:24):
two since two has been back. I just like what
they're doing right now, and I'm a fan obviously, but
I'm also confident that at home they'll win this game,
and all they need to do is cover the point
to do so, and to cover the hard lock here.
So give me the rams minus one.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Take it to the bank, baby, take it to the bank,
cash it, deposit it.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
That does it for hard locks.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
That does four hard k locks.
Speaker 1 (55:57):
I love that you laugh every time. Okay, so that
brings us to the final game of the show here, uh,
Randall will turn it over to you if you'd like.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
Awesome, John, my girlfriend gives me a word or phrase,
I use it.
Speaker 3 (56:12):
You guess it, job. What is it all? Right?
Speaker 1 (56:16):
Well, you know I've often said some words before guessing here.
Just some things that I like to say about this
game that we've played. I did get back in the
win column the last couple of weeks after there was
the the whole debacle of Week seven where I was
close but didn't quite take the credit for the c
rup line. But I will say this is probably the
best job you've done all season. And I'm gonna say
(56:38):
that because I had three words that I've put in
my word bank, because when we first started this game,
Randal I used to ask me for my word bank.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
Remember that I do remember the word bank.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
So I'm gonna give you the three words first, and
then I'm gonna try to pick one out of this
group the three things that I think you were trying to.
Hopefully you were trying, and if not, then on my
brain is just overthinking this. You said right at the
beginning of the episode, you said Weener Winer line when
you were talking about the w e I hotline that
people called into. You've said cornicopia a few times, and
(57:13):
you also said Hickory dickery right there at the end,
so you kind of spread out a few things. I'm
gonna say that the word of the day is cornucopias.
Speaker 2 (57:28):
Find out John, Yeah, yeah, Yeah, let's move on Cornpia.
Speaker 3 (57:37):
Oh shit, this guy is odd. Somebody put about call
the fire department, dude. The Wiener Wider line is an
actual thing. I know.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
I know, and honestly, the only reason I didn't like
I I we that came up organically, like us talking
about that and you. So I'm like, that can't be it,
but it's so good if it is. And then the
Hickory dickery the end, I'm like, wait a minute, now,
he's just throwing out something else.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
And then I knew because I just shout it out
cornacopia randomly too, and you the second time and you
set it back yeah, and I'm like, fuck, I gotta
try to do something to throw this guy off. So
I saw Tennessee, I thought, what bats old Hickory?
Speaker 3 (58:19):
Would you know?
Speaker 2 (58:20):
Like, I'm like, so I'm trying to go down that
tangent of Hickory Dickory. But uh yeah, rip.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
Oh man, this is it's getting a lot of fun
to keep out smarting you like this, because I think
when we first started, I was completely outmatched. I had
no idea what I was doing. But I've become very
good at this.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
Just so you know, John, next week you're gonna have
to bring out the pen and paper because it's gonna
be a brutal week for you.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
Yeah, you might have to start doing phrases that might
be better, Like some of these are like a couple
of words, but maybe like a whole phrase would be better.
Speaker 3 (58:52):
Who knows? Who knows about congratulations?
Speaker 1 (58:56):
Thanks dude? Uh well, that brings us basically to the
end of the show here. I know you've got a
softball game you're getting ready to go play in. Unfortunately
for me. My softball season came to an end in
the recent days with the weather changing here obviously, so
I will not be able to get back out there
for a while. But Randall, I wish you good luck
in your game tonight. And as I always do, before
(59:17):
we finish up, I'd like to ask if there's anything
we didn't get a chance to talk about that you
wanted to talk about this evening.
Speaker 2 (59:23):
John, We've been doing such a great job of getting
through everything. I wanted to say that I have nothing
for you.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
Wow, that's that's pretty impressive. I've been doing a good
job of checking all the boxes.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
I guess just like you do if you were a
date for a girl, you just check off all those boxes.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
John, all right, all right, and then you.
Speaker 1 (59:42):
Just talk about my love life. That brings us to
the end of the show until next time. I have
a great night, everybody, thanks for listening, And here is Randall.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
Goodbye, goodbye, good friends, good bye.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
This is the joining band of the experience.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
We like to talk football and Betty Sean is up
a lot of money on the year, a lot of
money on the year.
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
So long, friends, Doc and stuff. Money from my socket
