Speaker 1 (00:22):
What is going on everybody? Welcome, Welcome, Welcome back to
another edition of the John and Randall Football Experience. My
name is John Avino, and with me is my main man,
Randall Minoau Randall. It's the day before Thanksgiving and the
second straight mobile episode for me. What are you up to?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Jehan? What do you think I'm up to? I'm doing
what I do every time we record. I'm eating in
my car, baby, So we're.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Both in the car today. I was actually gonna that's
what was gonna be my setup was. I was gonna say,
we're both in the car today. I'm traveling back to
New Jersey and you're who's doing what you always do?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Kind of like when some people call into the sports
radio show and they don't get the location where they're at,
they just say John in the car.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Go Well, quite frankly, that would be the move if
I called into a sports radio show today, because I
don't know what town I'll be in when they picked
me up. You know, Yeah, I know I'll be in
the car though, so that's a that's a good good thing.
But yeah, I'm on my way back to us family,
New Jersey for a couple of days. So again not
probably the greatest quality audio here for me. For two
(01:37):
weeks in a row, however, we could not let Thanksgiving
come and go without the thought of giving you guys
football content. So Randall, it's we're gonna do the show,
whether I'm on the move or not, and as we
always do, we'll start with quick hits, Quick hits, all right.
(01:58):
So we were just talking about before we started recording,
and I think where we're gonna start in this episode
with quick Kids is with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets
because they didn't play last week, so we're not gonna
be able to talk about them losing a game. But
what did happen was there was reports coming out about
Rogers maybe his future, and specifically reports that came out
(02:20):
saying that he wanted to play next year but didn't
want to play for the Jets. Now, he has since
gone on Pat McAfee the last couple of days, he's
denied this. He said that he basically it's the opposite.
He doesn't know if he wants to play next year,
and if he does want to play next year, he
feels like the team that he would most want to
play with is the Jets. So I mean, Randal put
(02:41):
me in the perspective of both sides here, Rogers and
the Jets. Which side would you rather be right now?
And do you really think that if he does want
to play next year, that he has any chance of
playing with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
If I'm the just, there's no way at hell, I'm saying,
miss s Man, it'd be a waste of money, waste
of just a waste, waste, waste. I think we talked
about this on last episode or two episodes ago, talking
about how his demeanor and everything is. It's kind of
like cancer culture right now. It's water cooler talk, right.
(03:18):
I don't think you can build an organization and a
team around Aaron Rodgers right now. One is lack of
talent and ability, But to his personality, yeah right, He's
not the kind of guy you want to have in
a locker room that's going to bring people together to
that goal and mission of winning a championship. I think
(03:40):
he's also just trying to cover his ass right now
because it was leak saying that he didn't want to
play for the Jets next year. He has to come
out and say, yeah, I would love to play for
the Jets next year. Now, it'd be a different store
if he gets placed on I are he's done for
the season. Yeah, okay, I can see that. But until
that happens, John, he needs to protect his ability to
(04:04):
walk into Jets facility, protect faith, not lose it. And
that's why he's said those things.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Yeah, you know, I think you're partially right here. I
think you're kind of hitting it on the head with
the whole like he's got to kind of say things
that are not going to paint him in a bad
light to the organization because again, he is trying to
play out the rest of this year with the thought
that either a if he does want to play next season,
that he's either auditioning for the Jets or another team
(04:33):
to say, you know what, this guy can still play
a little bit. I mean, he really has not been
the same player since the last time he won the
MVP a few years ago. And what's really interesting about
Aaron Rodgers is that he had such success in Matt
Lafleur's new style offense when he got hired after they
fired Mike McCarthy, and he had the arguably some of
(04:54):
the most success of his career, and then he decided
you know what, I want to leave the situation and
go back to what I use to do, and what
he used to do is what he's doing now, and
it's not been nearly as successful for the Jets obviously,
So I think you know you're right in the sense
that he has to say these things because whether he
did or didn't say that he wants to play next season,
not for the Jets, the fact is that if he
(05:16):
doesn't go out there and play these last however many
weeks left, however many games left for the Jets, that
other teams are gonna look at him and the lasting
image of him is going to be he towards Achilles.
Then he came back from that and he didn't look
very good for a team that was not very good
at all. So I mean, from the Jets perspective, it's
almost like where do you go from here? Kind of thing,
(05:36):
because if Rogers isn't back next year, I don't know
who you plug and play with because the rest of
the rosters we've talked about, maybe the defense isn't as
good as they were last year, but they've got a
team that has players on it that was supposed to
be elevated by Rogers coming back to it. And of
course this year they've won less games to this point
than they did with Zach Wilson last year, so they
(05:57):
they've clearly not been elevated. I think, you know, new
regime coming in, it's gonna be really hard for that
new regime to say, you know what, let's sign up
for one year or two years of Aaron Rodgers and
then we're gonna have to restart. I think anybody new
coming in is going to want to be able to
plant their flag from the beginning and say this is
our team, and this is the way we want to
run it, and we don't want this forty year old
(06:18):
quarterback who hasn't looked very good at all.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yeah, John, he hasn't looked good at all. Who knows
what goes on in the set. It really doesn't make
sense why you would want to leave a team where
you're winning to go to a team John that's about
to enter. I think it's the fourteenth or fifteenth year
of not making the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Yeah, I think it's the fifteenth. But yeah, it's rough.
It's rough out there right now for Jets, and we
talk about it every week, and maybe it's unfair that
we're talking about in a week where they didn't even play,
but of course they're still making news. So that's what
we do, is we bring the news to the people.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Right Randall, we're breaking it all the time, John.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
I don't know if we're breaking it, but we're bringing it.
So we had last Thursday to go back. Now to
talk about the games from last week. Will start last Thursday.
We had this Brown Steelers game and it ended up
being quite the snowy affair. I was on a flight
back from Florida, and while I did check in in
the first half of the game a little bit with
(07:18):
the on flight Wi Fi, I was ended up. I've
been binge watching Silo, a great show on Apple TV
that I discovered, so I did end up watching a
lot of the first half. But when I got off
the plane and I was walking through the airport, I
was astounded when I saw the TV screens and saw
all this luscious white snow out there. A game in
which the Steelers did not win, they bounced back and forth.
(07:41):
Both quarterbacks Jamis Winston ends up getting the win. He
has the funny comments after the game about how he
was so thankfully playing in a game and an environment
like this. But you know, we talked a lot about
the Steelers last couple weeks being a for real team.
Do you think that their lack of ability to finish
off drive sometimes because that's how game started again, there's
(08:01):
a lot of field goals from them. Uh, do you
think that's gonna ultimately haunt them in any hopes that
they have to try to make a playoff push this year?
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Of course, John, you have to be able to get
the ball in the end zone. Ultimately, you want to
be able to score points, right and at least, hey,
they're getting into field goal range, so they have some
movement going. Well, you need to be able to, like
you said, finish the drives. That's gonna win you gained
you when you're going up against Kansas City Buffalo the Raven.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
The first team out of your mouth there?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Interesting?
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah, yeah, interesting, you did that just kind of subconsciously.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Sorry, they're gonna put up points, and they're they're gonna
put you putting up points John by scoring touchdowns. Granted,
your defense is phenomenal. However, I will say this, it's
a division game, John. Division games are tough. They're hard
nos spot down to the lot. Okay, but I still
(09:03):
believe the Steelers team is gonna be a Okay, I
still think they can make a run. They can make
a push just because one Russell Wilson has been there.
He knows what it's gonna take to get the job done.
Yeah too, That defense is stellar. They are phenomenal, phenomenal, phenomenal,
And I just can't say it enough how great they are.
(09:24):
They're phenomenal.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yeah they are, I mean, but the problem is, yeah,
I know, but I mean, the problem is that they
two weeks ago we were talked about, you know, last
week's episode, we were talking about, oh man, they beat
the Ravens without scoring a touchdown. They must be pretty good.
You know, that's a good sign for their long term output.
But you know when they play games like this against
the Browns. Yeah, it's another division opponent, but the Browns
(09:47):
came in with two wins on the season, and it's
a snowball and I just feel like you've got to
find ways to to win games like that against teams
that you're supposed to beat, even if it is a
division opponent. So I keep going back and forth on
the Steelers. I still really like the team. I just
feel like, like, yeah, like what I asked you is true.
(10:07):
If they can't find ways to consistently get in the
end zone and they keep settling for three points, yeah,
Chris Boswell might be happy and he might be setting
Steelers scoring records. However, they are not going to end
up winning the big games against the teams you mentioned
when it actually matters, because those teams have much better
touchdown percentages at this point. So I don't know, we'll see.
(10:28):
I can't really get too mad at them because they
still have eight wins, but that being said, it's been
an interesting kind of road for them with some of
these games they've won. I think that's two games they've
won this year without scoring a touchdown, which is just
not normal for teams.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
So I don't know, No, it's definitely not normal. But
you know what, considering your circumstances, I think it goes
to the show like, wow, this team is able to
win without scoring touchdowns. Now is that going to put
more pressure on your defense and come playoffs.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
So there were a couple of teams that won games
that you maybe were a little surprised about. We'll talk
about those in a second here, But to start with
a couple of teams that we weren't so surprised to
see win games. The Buccaneers. I know you you were
pretty high in the Bucks this past week, Rando. If
I'm not mistaken, I think that was the only team
that either one of us got correct in the hard
(11:24):
locks this week. Was you on the Bucks. They won
big over the Giants in New Jersey. You had the
whole Baker Mayfield, Tommy DeVito mocking or celebration, whatever you
want to call it, as he did the Italian gesture
afterwards after he scored a rushing touchdown. But the Bucks
they looked like they kind of looked earlier this season.
(11:46):
They got Mike Evans back. I know it was the Giants,
but the Bucks now as they're fully healthy. Early this season,
we were talking about them like maybe they have one
of the better teams in the NFC. Do you feel
like they can kind of reclaim that here and at
this win can kind of get them going in the
right direction.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Mike Williams, Mike Evans is coming back, has come back down.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
That's gonna help. From an offensive standpoint, They're they're gonna
be moving the ball. They were moving the ball. When
those guys are out, they're gonna continue to move the ball.
Now that Mike Evans is back, the only thing is
their defense. It's like a wet towel man. Wet blanket
does no good to nobody, you know this, And they
got lucky. They were playing Tommy DeVito in a bad
(12:29):
Giants team this week, and Tommy Debrido didn't look bad, right,
He started the game like seven for nine eighty yards
something like that. But he's on the Giants. They can't
really move the ball, well, can't block. It's it's a shamble.
I will say. I don't know why he was mocking
Tommy DeVito.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Like this dude's over there, just sitting minding his own business.
Next thing, you know, he looks up on the JumboTron
and he's seeing its celebration be thrown in his face.
It's like, Faker, come on, the guy's a backup quarterback.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah, that's Baker's though. You know, he's gonna do stuff
like that.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
And that's probably why people hate him.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Yeah, I think people have come around him a little
bit though. I feel like if it was him five
years ago. Yeah, people have been calling him an asshole.
But now it's like, oh, that's Baker. He's funny, and
I think it's because he's playing a lot better. But
you know, I do think you're right to some degree,
like why is he mocking a guy that has barely played?
And I think it may have been more for the
fans than anything else because they get so into this
(13:31):
whole DeVito craze. But I I mean, you're right, this
Buccaneers defense is gonna ultimately be there. They're either what
they win with or lose with, because we know that
the offense has has shown us with Mike Evans healthy
and obviously they don't plan on getting god Win back,
but when you have at least one of those receivers
there and the running game is as effective as it's been,
(13:52):
Bucky Irving has kind of broken out, especially this past week.
He had a great game against the Giants. Their offense
can play with anybody in the NFC. It's just a
matter of what the defense do. Uh So for them,
any given playoff run could be based on just who
they match up with. But you know, I don't. They
started off the year really well. They lost four street
since getting guys hurt, and now they win a big
(14:13):
game against a team that they were supposed to beat.
But they're getting healthier, so I guess we'll see kind
of what their trajectory looks like.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah, when you win the game Sean that you're supposed
to win, it's that helps, right, because they're gonna You're
gonna have these teams like the Giants that you're gonna
constantly play throughout the year, and when you lose those games,
it's it's gonna hurt the morale in the locker room,
it's gonna hurt your confidence, and sometimes it really hurt
your ability to get into the playoffs. But if you
(14:43):
are able to take care of business against those teams
like they did, boosts everything up and I think it's
gonna solidify them to get them ready for a playoff
push in the division.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Yeah, certainly, and a couple a couple more of those
teams that probably games that you were expecting them to win,
especially in the one o'clock window you had the Lions
beating the Colts, which you know, the Colts have been
no slouch this year, but that was still a game
that you know, you thought the Lions, if they're playing
as well as they should be would win and they
won it quite handing twenty four to six, and then
(15:18):
you had kind of the opposite of that with the Chiefs.
The Chiefs did win Randall, and I know we keep
talking about them every week. They did have the one
loss finally at Buffalo, but they came to Carolina and
they got Bryce Young's best shot. He tied the game
up with not much time left, but Patrick Mahomes was
able to engineer a drive to get them in a
field goal range and the end up kicking a game
winning field goal. You know what about this game surprised you?
(15:43):
Were you surprised to see Bryce Young hang around or
did you think coming to the East Coast maybe playing
a part in this for the Chiefs, Because I don't
know if I can remember another time watching Patrick Mahomes
play at one pm.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
I mean, he plays at one pm all the time.
I feel like, no, he's only in the Central time zone.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
I feel like he's always at the four o'clock window
or primetime. I feel like I never see him playing
at one o'clock.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yeah, maybe that's true, Maybe that's true. I haven't really
paid that much attention to the man that much.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
You know, well, you only you only live to hate him, so.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Exactly, I don't care about watching them, But what I
do care about is Carolina covering the spread, which they did,
in which I told you was gonna happen, John, I
knew there was no way Kansas City was gonna be
able to cover them. And again it's another point, John,
another one point one score victory four to Kansas City.
(16:41):
This team should have like two wins on the AAR. Yeah,
they are horrible.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
You love floating this stat with the whole You did
it a couple of years ago with the Vikings when
they had that unbelievable year, and you love to point
out the fact that, oh if the Vikings, if they
if they're all their one score games were reversed, they
would beat this record. Well, guess what, they're not reversed.
They're winning these games. So I know what you're saying, like,
there's close, But you can't just sit here and say, oh,
(17:06):
they should only have two wins. I mean, they've won
all these games, whether it be close or not.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
You're right, You're absolutely right. But all I'm saying is
when it comes to playoff time, this shit ain't gonna apply. John, Yeah,
down to the wires stuff is not gonna fly. They
are done and gonna get I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
I still seem to fall back on the whole Patrick
Mahomes thing, which you've probably at this point just tune
me out when I say it. And I don't know
how people who are listening feel bad because I say
a lot of the same stuff about him. But I
just trust the guy. I don't really. I mean, he's
He's done nothing throughout his career to tell me that
he's not going to show up in the most important moments,
(17:49):
right down to last year when he was in the
Super Bowl with like a broken not a broken but
a sprained ankle. I mean, the guy had to play
through that and he figured out a way to get
it done. So I don't know. I just trust the guy.
And he did it again at the end of this game.
So whether you like him or not, Randall, he's still
been very effective for the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
So would you rather have John Patrick Mahomes or Matthew
Stafford right now.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
That's a great question. I would rather have the guy
that's going to win me the Super Bowl if we
get there, and both of those guys have done it,
So I can't. I don't know. I mean Stafford. It's
hard for me to say I don't want Matt Stafford
because I still think he's a great quarterback. If I
was a fan of a team that didn't have a
guy like Stafford, I'd be picking Mahomes pretty much all
(18:34):
the time. But Stafford won a Super Bowl, So I'm
not going to turn my back on now.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Let me just say this, Sean, I'd rather have Drake
May than Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Well, May, Drake May didn't look all that great against
the Dolphins. This is another one of those games that
the team that you thought probably would win did end
up winning thirty four to fifteen. It really was not
close at all at the beginning of this game, and
then the trade. The Patriots kind of did it in
a back door covering, but they ended up kind of
(19:07):
back door making it closer than it was. So, I mean,
what were your evaluations of Drake May coming out of
this game? Because I feel like he'd been playing fairly well.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
And this game didn't go so great, and John and
you saying that, I know, the reason why you're saying
that it didn't go so great is because you didn't
get to watch the game. Okay, you didn't see what
was happening, all right, and you want to know what's happening, John,
I had red zone on, yeah, and they were gonna
show the Patriots in the red zone. That's the thing.
(19:36):
They weren't in the red zone ever. I don't think
they were above the fifty yard line ever. Man. Yeah,
they offensive line, in particular, the right tackle was got awful,
absolutely god awful. He was gonna get Drake May killed.
That dude was an open door twenty four seven for
(20:01):
defenders to go after great many. He didn't stand a
chance in the pocket. It was horrible. So the play
call wasn't great. It was just an overall bad day
for the New England from top with the coaches to
the players. Everything everything stunk up. There to have made
(20:23):
some nice passes, I will say that to it looked
pretty good. Yeah, he had some plays that he was
able to thread the needle on and move the ball
well downfield. So I'll give credit to Miami Dolphins. However,
you beat the Patriots just like the Rams day and
look what happened the following week. Okay, I want to
know what teams records are play in New England and
(20:46):
then the result the following week.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Another one of those things that you just bring up
that you want you want to know that we you know,
but you don't do any of the research on because
we don't have a stats department. It's just awesome. If
you're gonna ask these questions, the only way they're gonna
get answered is if you.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Go look them up, and you know it's that that's
something I might have to look up. It's an interesting fact.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Okay, well what you said fair enough. I didn't get
the chance to watch a lot of this game, but
I don't really need to be able to watch the
game to know that they were down big, big before
the second half this game. I also had Tua in
my fantasy lineup this week, so I was very pleased
with the fact that he found a way to throw
(21:31):
four touchdowns against this defense. But yeah, I mean, I
just don't know. It seems like, you know, they put
together a couple of decent weeks, and everybody seems to
be like, oh, Okay, the Patriots coaching staff is fine.
You know, we're not gonna overreact. But I do think
it always keeps coming back to the same question of
are these guys qualified to be doing this right now,
(21:52):
and if they aren't, then are the Craft specifically Robert
going to make a you know, decision after one year
to go a different way, because if not, then this
is all kind of you know, for not and it's
just gonna be next year again, kind of waiting to
see if they have a good, good coaching staff or not,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Yeah, and suse I do think John that this game
is going to push Miami forward. I mean, they're they're
scoring so many more points now with two at quarterback,
and I know they didn't really have anything before with
the backup situation, but if Julie goes to show yeah,
(22:33):
Twa does make a difference in this offense, Yeah, I
like he can make a difference. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
He's been very good for them since Mike McDaniels got there,
and I think proving that is the fact that he
did go out obviously, and they've looked much better with
him back in there, and that just goes to show
you that he can be that kind of player for them.
I don't know if they'll be able to make the
playoffs just because of the amount of grownd they'll have
to make up in what is a very, very competitive
(22:59):
a but they certainly have more of a chance now
with to it than they did before without him. So
those are some of the games that teams won that
you thought they should win, at least in the early window.
We'll talk about the late window here in a sec,
but I do want to talk about a couple of
games in the early window where teams didn't win that
you thought would And I guess the first one we'll
mention is the Texans against the Titans. Here. I will
(23:23):
give Will Levis some credit. He's definitely gotten a lot
better than he was when he first started playing, and
specifically when he first took over as the starter. And
you know, I think about Week one this year, Week two,
whenever it was that he threw that awful pick six
at the end of the game or the fumble at
the end of the game that ended up costing them
a lot. But I mean the Texans here, some of
(23:44):
the shine has kind of come off since CJ. Stroud
last year's a rookie burst upon the scene. His team
had all the success. They may end up winning this
division just by default because the rest of it's not
all that great. But I mean, where do you currently
stand on the Texans as far as their overall threat
level in the AFC, Because this is a game at
(24:06):
home against the Titans that you just can't lose if
you want to be taken seriously in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
And what happened, John, they lost, They got spanked at home.
I mean you lost to will leven.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
They lost by they lost by five. But yeah, you
can use the terminology spank. That's fine.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Yeah, I mean I consider a spanking John. Yes, it
was by five. But when it's a team that that
is that bad with two wins now three wins. Yeah,
just getting just getting beat in general without it coming
down to a game winning field goal, it's a spanking.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Yeah. And if you take it into account to spread too,
it was you know, twelve and a half point difference
on the spread because it was seven and a half
point favorites.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Exactly, So I mean you have to take all that
into CONSI they got Tony Pollard ran all over them.
I mean will Levis do for almost three hundred yards.
It was just they they dominated everything. They dominated. They
had more total yards, more passing yards, more Russian plays,
more first downs, more third down conversions, I mean they
(25:19):
literally less penalty yards. Okay, they time of possession, every
single thing, John, you go down that list, check off
in Tennessee's favor. Yeah, and the Texans, I said at
the beginning of the year there was gonna be a
regression coming off of what happened last season. It was
just gonna be the case. Right. However, I don't think
(25:43):
anybody was thinking it was gonna be this bad. Right,
and again it seven and five. But what did we
just say about Tampa Bay beating the teams? You have
to be this was one of those games, John, And
Texans still probably gonna win the division easily, right, But
where your matters, right, like being between the two to
(26:06):
three the four, like that matters?
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Yeah, I mean right now, if they're the four seed
in a playoff scenario, like if they end up posting
because they're the last division winner and they're the they
have the worst record of the four division winners, they
would probably end up posting a Baltimore right now, because
if you're just looking at the playoff picture, they're you know,
Pittsburgh's the division leader in that division. So Baltimore then
(26:29):
would drop down to the five spots. So you're gonna
tell me that they're gonna be favored at home even
against the Baltimore team that, yeah, they've been a little inconsistent,
but I think that the Texans have bigger problems here.
And yeah, I think, you know, last year it was
such a big success in the eyes of many because
he came in CJ. Stroud did and right away they
had all these things working. And yeah, Nico Collins has
(26:50):
been good, Tank Dell's been good. Obviously, Steph Diggs got
hurt and he's been out for you know, the year.
Now after a few few games missed, he won't be
coming back. But they they do strike me as a
team that, yeah, they have a two game lead in
that division. Like I said, they might just win the
division by the fall. But I don't know how much
noise they're gonna be able to make in a playoffs there,
even if I end up hosting a playoff game, which
(27:11):
they likely will, just because they don't seem to be
as consistent as they were last year. And again, I
think that's evident when you lose a game at home
to the Titans, that you're favored by more than a
touchdown in.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
You know, oh, all right, you.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Are right.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Choke it. I was choking on the vanilla John, you know,
the ice cream, the milk, It gets stuck in the
throwing little mucus going just got just gotta just gotta
get just gotta get it out.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Thanks for paying, Thanks for paying. The picture for everybody,
all right. And then the other game in this one
o'clock window that was a crazy ending, uh, was the
Cowboys Commanders. It was three to three at halftime game
and it ended up being a thirty four to twenty
six win for Dallas. I mean, really, you could just
(28:06):
take the final four minutes in this game and put
it in its own kind of conversation because that was
where the craziness began, especially because the Cowboys were up
Washington somehow got the ball back. They go down the field,
they kick a field goal with a minute forty left.
You're thinking they're down seven, they're still not really gonna
have a chance. And then they get the ball back
(28:28):
and on the first play that they have the ball
back eighty six yards, Terry McLaurin goes on what wasn't
even that deep of a ball. He just kind of
outran everybody once the ball was in his hands, he
scores a touchdown, and all of a sudden, then you
have a on side kick recovery for a touchdown after
(28:48):
Washington misses an extra point that would have tied the
game up. So this was just this was wild all
around because Washington was obviously heavily favored a game against
Dallas's backups in which you think they should be winning.
I know you thought they were gonna win. I know
you picked them for your hard lots. I'm not trying
to call you out because I was Ozer in three uh,
but you've also been high and Washington all year. So
(29:09):
were you What did you make of this game and
the craziness that ensued here?
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Well, speaking of speaking of regressions, shot him with CJ. Stroud,
I think we saw some regression this past week with
Jayden Daniels, right Like. It was not what I was
expecting from them. I was expecting them to come out
ready to play against the Dallas team that I kind
of thought was just gonna throw in the towel. Yeah,
(29:36):
but that wasn't the case. That was not the case.
And you know what, Cooper Rush continues to do what
Cooper Rush does, right that man two fifty two touchdowns,
no picks. I mean, really, it's just the Eagles that
seems like is that man's scryptonite. Yeah, so I'm excited
to see what he's gonna do this week. But John,
(30:00):
the final two minutes of this game insanity, Yeah, insanity.
And if I'm the kicker for Washington, I mean they
were a kick away from really actually sending this thing
to overtime because you're not gonna then do the outside kick.
You're not gonna give up the touchdown there, right, But
(30:21):
that was just I don't think I've ever seen something
like bang bang bang bang bang happen like that. Yea,
and Jayden Daniels, John Dan Daniels does a great job
with the thirty second trill.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Yeah, he sure does. You know, Washington's kicker, Austin Sebert,
I think, you know, the biggest problem for him in
the situation was that there was such adrenaline pumping and
they had to go out there so quickly after this
huge touchdown happens. I'm not trying to give him an
hour excuse here. I'm just saying it's a reality situation.
It almost would have been beneficial for Washington to take
a time out and say, let's all just gather ourselves
(30:56):
for a second here before we make you over run
out there and do this extra point because quite frankly,
you know, the extra point miss was after all of
the craziness, probably the craziest part the fact that they
were right there after like an impossible game for them
to win and then they have a tie in their
midst and you just don't get it. And the other
part of this was that Dallas on the ensuing on
(31:18):
side kick, you have them run it back for a
touchdown when the reality says the best play would have
just been to go down on the ball because Dallas
didn't need to give the ball back to Washington. Had
they just fielded the onside kick, and then gone down
and taken one knee, the game would have been over.
Washington'd have any timeouts left. But by scoring that touchdown,
you go up now eight points. So yeah, Washington has
(31:40):
to go score another touchdown and get a two point conversion,
but the game is still open at that point. So
this was all these things are going through my head
at the same time while this is going down, and
it's just like impossible to follow in real time because
of the actual craziness of it. But this is a
game again, just like we were talking about Houston. I
thought Washington had to win this game. It's a division
of you know, the Eagles have been red hot, so
(32:02):
you have to beat the teams that right now are
the ones that are not supposed to be beating you.
In Dallas certainly filters that bill with all the injuries
they've had, especially to Dak and whatnot. So you know,
Jadan Daniels, he's aggressing a little bit faster, maybe in
his first year because c J. Stroud it took his
second year. But I think you are seeing Jade Daniels
kind of come back down to earth a little bit here.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
And again, he's a rookie, right like, He's going to
have the ups and downs. But I think, without a
doubt though, he is definitely the guy for the job,
right Like, he just has so much talent where he's
an athlete, he's an athlete. I honestly think he's a
better look he has potential to be a better Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Yeah. Yeah, that's a high praise for guy who's wanted
the MVP a couple of times. So we'll see if
that ends up. Being the case or not. He had
this Minnesota Chicago game that was also pretty crazy. Chicago
ends up scoring a touchdown they recovered on side kick,
they do kick a game time field goal, and then
in overtime the Vikings end up prevailing and winning it.
(33:06):
So this is one of those games where the Vikings,
you say, you know, on paper, they should win this game,
probably just because that they're the better team this year,
but Chicago gave them a run for their money. And
this was awfully close, obviously going to overtime with the
on side kick and all that, you know, But Minnesota
now nine and two. So what did you think of
(33:27):
this game and the way it kind of played out?
Were you surprised to see the Bears, you know, in
the position they were trying to figure out a way
to tie it up.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Caleb Williams sometimes has these touches of games where he
just throws for three hundred plus yards like he did
in this one. Right. He he looked, He looked great,
he really did. And they look like a Bear's team
that hey can compete compete in the division game, and
that's that's what they did. But Sam Donald, John Sam
Donald's in the right team with the right situation, the
(33:58):
right coach, right player around them. I mean, they were
doing a great job with Kirk Cousins. Now they're doing
a great job with Sam Donald. I mean, it's kind
of like what people thought would Brock Purty Jimmy Garoppolo
over there in San fran Hey, it's more of a
system that's going on there. And maybe that's what's going
on in Minnesota too, is that you have all these
(34:20):
great players. Just hey, get me a quarterback that's decent.
Give me a quarterback that's not going to turn the
ball over too much. We got a great wide receiver,
we got a great running back. We can go and
win some games if we just do those things. And
that's what they're doing right now. John, They're winning games.
You're nine to two. Sam Donald's looking like you might
win Comeback Player of the Year or something or he
(34:42):
should be. Yeah, I don't even know if he'd be
considered for Comeback Player of the Year, but it has
to feel great for him as well.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
The comeback Player of the Year campaign for Sam Donald
starts right now on this show. Thanks to you, Randall,
The Vikings did just sign Daniel Jones to so they're
doing the whole really. Yeah, just a little while before
we start a few minutes before we started the show,
the news broke that they have signed to the practice squad,
so he won't be the backup right away, but the
(35:12):
thought is that he probably will be after a few weeks.
Their current backup is Nick Mullins. And then I think
they have a rookie from last year, Jaron Hall, who
is their third string, So Jones on the practice squad.
Now for the Vikings, they could be doing this whole
thing with the two former New York quarterbacks Donald and Jones.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Yeah, I want, I really want to know why they
brought Daniel Jones in. I hope and it's I wonder
to know if it's, Hey, do we actually want him
in here justin case if Sam Donald gets hurt? Is
it justin case Sam Donald stinks? Or hey, we want
to put pressure on Sam Donald to continue doing what
(35:53):
he has been doing this entire season.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Well, I think eleven games in, Like, they probably think
that Donald is probably okay this point. They feel like
they've gotten enough from him this year that they're like, Okay,
he's playing consistently. We have to feel like he's gonna
play this way. But I almost think this could be,
you know, a little bit geared towards this year, but
also maybe a little bit towards the future because they
have JJ McCarthy they drafted, but everybody's talking about Donald resigning,
(36:17):
and they might just not have the money to resign
Donald if he ends up getting a contract after this,
because that's the reason they didn't resign Kirk Cousins. So
Donald was brought in as a kind of a bridge guy.
So maybe next year Jones can be the ultimate bridge
guy and he signs, you know, some sort of short
term deal after this year, and him and JJ are
the guy who's going to next year. I don't know.
I'm just getting way ahead of myself obviously, but skeptic
(36:41):
to your point, it is kind of interesting to see
why they'd bring him in. You know, there were other
teams that probably had bigger backup needs that could have
used him. It would have made a little bit more sense.
But whatever. The four o'clock window from this past Sunday
not great. I mean, there was the bro the blowout
in Green Bay. The forty nine ers just really nothing
(37:02):
doing with Brandon Allen at quarterback. I told you I
texted you early in the week, Randal, it was pretty funny.
I picked them as one of my hard locks, the
forty nine ers plus two and a half. And this
was before I realized that Rock Party was not going
to play. He was questionable for I think the second
or third straight week, so I just assumed, Oh, he'll
be out there again like he has been, but he
(37:23):
ends up not playing. The line moved quite a bit.
And what did I text you before the game? Or before?
Maybe a day or two before the game.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
It was the day before the game, John, or two
days before, and you said, Hey, Rock Purty out, any
chance I can get the new line at plus five
and a half or even yet you plus five and
you can keep the minus two and a half. I
said no, no, no, no no. But me being the
generous guy that I am, John, I then texted you
(37:56):
after the game saying, you know what, I'll give you
the fire that half.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah, yeah, you did, And I was gonna I was
gonna say that too. So I'm glad you brought that
part up because I thought it was very generous of
you to wait until the game was basically over to
say you know what, here you go. You could have
the five and a half because it really it ended
up not mattering at all, which was the funny part.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
But yeah, this game just never really the forty nine ers,
I don't know what to make of them. We're gonna
have to see once Purdy's back if if this was
just a fluke game. But they they really need to
be able to make the playoffs in order to go
on any sort of run, and right now they're just
not in position to do so. They're in last place
in that division, and obviously the wild card is a
far thought right now because of the record alone. The
(38:39):
good news for them though, the division is still wide open,
but they're gonna have to start to put together some
consistent performances here. And meanwhile, Green Bay continues to be
one of the weirder teams. I feel like they're inconsistent,
but they look good this week, good offensive output from them.
Josh Jacobs had a monster day. So I don't know
where put green Bay right now. I feel like they're
right there, but if we don't talk about them a
(39:01):
ton because they're in a division with Minnesota and Detroit,
so I don't know that the three teams in that
division that were all probably gonna be in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Yeah, they're jugglings, John, They're just strugglings. It's what they are.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
Yeah. And then we had the the other two games
in the window, the Raiders and Broncos, which, you know whatever,
the Broncos beat the Raiders by ten points. Uh, nothing
too crazy going on in that game, unless you wanted
to talk about any of it. And the Seahawks beating
the Cardinals sixteen to six, which was a kind of
a weird, disappointing game, I want to say, because me
(39:35):
looking at the whole slate for Sunday and just matchup
wise and where teams were, I was kind of most
excited for the Cardinals Seahawks game out of all the
matchups that weren't, you know, with my own team playing
in it. So you know, I didn't really think that
this game would be kind of a dud, but it
ended up being a dud that the Seahawks won. It
(39:55):
does obviously I end up working out for me Randall
as a Rams fan, because the Seattle Seahawks win, and
they now jump into a tie at first place with Arizona,
and they kept the leader with the division at six wins,
so even with the Rams, who end up losing on
Sunday Night to the Eagles. They're still at five wins,
They're still only a game back in division.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
Yeah, I was shocked the way to care that the
Cardinals came out in Seattle, John to play. Yeah, Kyler
Murray didn't really do all that lunchure anything potentially, and
just as a team, they weren't. They weren't great, they
weren't great, and Seattle somehow six and five. I'm honestly
shocked that they are six and five, John and the
(40:42):
top of the division.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Yeah, I am too, But I mean I'm more surprised
about the top of the division part against the six
and five. To me, they're always kind of a team
at medals and that that kind of range. I mean,
you obviously have the new coach this year, which is
a factor for them. But yeah, they're they're playing Okay.
That division literally is going to come down right to it,
which leads us into the last game of Sunday before
(41:05):
we talked about the horrible quickly and move on. But
the last game on Sunday was the Rams and the
Eagles on Sunday Night football. And the Eagles just keep
on rolling they beat the Rams pretty soundly out in LA.
It got off to a kind of a weird start.
The Rams are going right down the field and I'm
like watching this, locking my chops, thinking, oh man, we're
gonna knock off the Eagles. And then Kyron Williams fumbles, which,
(41:29):
unfortunately for him, has become way too common of a
thing and he just keeps getting run out there every week.
And I mean, he's still very effective, but he fumbles
a lot. But after that happened, I kind of waned
on confidence or even the Rams. They did hold him
to a field goal after that, and then they went
down and scored a touchdown. And you know, there were
(41:49):
points in this game where I felt okay, especially early on,
but then as the second quarter kind of progressed and
the Eagles kept scoring, and you know, we got into
the second half, the Ram answered a touchdown, but it
just never really felt like they were ever going to
quite catch up to the Eagles. And I don't really
know what to make of the Rams. You know, we
were talking about them before we started recording Randall and
(42:12):
they're sitting there five and six.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
Now.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Last year it was, you know a little bit earlier
than this when they kind of turned it on. They
won six of the last seven or seven of their last
eight to propel them to a playoff spot. But now
they're sitting there and they're five and six. Again, they're
only a game back because the way the division has
been with still some games to go into division. They're
playing New Orleans this upcoming week, so yeah, win could
(42:36):
be possible. But I just I don't really know what
to make of them, because some weeks they look really good,
and some weeks you're saying, oh, Stafford still looks like
he's got this edge, and the other weeks, I mean,
it doesn't look like he's bad or anything, but they
just don't seem to have it in games against teams
that are better, and the Eagles would certainly fill that bill.
(42:56):
So I was a little disappointed with the kind of
lack of of, I guess, competitiveness, and especially when it
came to like tackling Saquon Barkley. I mean, this guy
went off, and he's been doing this to a lot
of teams this year, but I just felt like he
just picked a day and said, I'm gonna torch these guys.
You had two seventy yard touchdowns in this game, so
(43:19):
that gives you an idea just kind of how his
day went. But yeah, I don't know, Randall, I don't
know where to think about the Rams right now. As
far as the overall picture of things.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
Yeah, I'm not sure either. They you have a great quarterback,
you have a great running back. You have We've said this,
two great wide receivers just need to go out there
and win the games. But I really think Sekwon Barkley
is just on another level. And I mean, I really
do not know. If you're the Giants owner and John Morraw,
(43:54):
how you know what, how you don't fire your GM
for the abomination that this dude did to your organization,
Like just just wait.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
A little while. You might get fired.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
He probably will, He probably should for letting this man
walk out the door, Like it makes no sense. Their
whole team is trash. They've been trash for so long.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
I will say the one thing about the clip from
Hard Knocks, because that's what I know you're kind of
alluding to, because if everybody saw the clip, that was
the first time that a team has ever done in
Hard Knocks, like in season like that, or sorry, in
the offseason like that when when was that one aired?
It was it was the training camp.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Right or it was different than Yeah, it was different.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
Than normal hard knocks. So they did it in a
time of year where they don't normally do it for
the first time ever, and that is literally the first
time ever that an owner has had a comment like
that be used against him because it just happened to
be publicized like this. So it is I will say,
it's true. What you're saying is all true, but it's
it's getting blown up to be so much more just
(45:03):
because everybody has seen that clip over and over and
over again.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
They've seen it John. But at the same time, it's well,
he wanted to come back, he wanted to be a giant, yeah,
and you didn't give him up. You didn't. You didn't
make it happen.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
And now the guy that they ended up paying all
the money too is gone as well. So it's like you,
you know, you didn't straight up pick one over the other,
but you did in some ways because he gave Daniel
Jones so much money that you you handcuffed yourself and
how much you can offer Barkley and then now both
of them are gone. So I don't know, it's tough,
it's unfortunate, but it is what it is. I guess
(45:41):
that's the business.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
Right, It's the business, and it's it's it's bad business.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Yeah. Well, the Eagles are well on their way to
the playoffs again. Uh, they kind of put it together
after the game of the year. They were looking on
and off if he even when the games they were winning,
fans weren't happy. I think people are pretty happy with
the way they've been playing of late. And then you
have the last game of the week on Monday night
the Harbor for the third time, the two brothers meeting
(46:11):
as head coaches. I think they're the only two brothers
that have ever met it as head coaches in the NFL.
I can't think of too many combos. I know, you
had the grudens. Obviously they didn't they didn't never coach
against one another, But you have these two who it's
been a while, but they did face off twice before,
once of course in the Super Bowl. Both times previous
that they had faced off, it was John Harbaugh winning
(46:34):
the game against Jim and that is exactly what happened
this past Monday as well. It started off pretty good
for the Chargers Randall, but the Ravens ended up figuring
out a way to win this game. The Ravens continue
to be kind of anomaly of a team. One week
they look great, the other next week they blow a game.
This week they looked good though they had things firing.
(46:55):
You know, Derrick Henry, another big game for him. Did
you think that this could be a potential playoff? Preview?
And what did you make of the whole horrible situation?
Speaker 2 (47:06):
That's what it always is. It's a great matchup. I mean,
just like last season, the Chargers fell to the Ravens.
They choked the game away and it was a game
that they needed to have. I get it, they're still
playing well, nothing crazy or anything like that happened, but
I still think you need to beat these good teams
at least give me a came down to the wire,
(47:29):
came down to a field goal kick. But I still
think Justin Herbert needs to rise in these moments and
he's not doing that for me.
Speaker 1 (47:36):
Yeah, I mean it was your point? Is I mean
it didn't. It was not a very close game. It
was a two touchdown game with under a minute to go.
Then the Chargers scored a late touchdown to make it
a one score game. So, you know, I do think
that overall the Chargers are going to be okay. They've
played well this year. They've shown the ability to bounce
(47:58):
back from games like this, but on your home home turf,
in a game where honestly, it didn't feel like they
were overrun by Baltimore fans because if you watch the
night before, I mean, the Rams fans are always out
numbered because they're not from the area as much as
the San Diego now La Chargers are, so La Chargers
always seem to do a little bit better when it
(48:20):
comes to the homes fans, but you know they're bolt.
There was not many Baltimore fans there. It felt like
a true Chargers home game, and they still didn't find
a way to get it done. So that's the disappointing
part I think for them, and obviously for Jim Harbaugh.
He continues to not be able to beat his brother,
which it is what it is. It's just it's just
a game against your brother. But ultimately, like I said,
(48:42):
I think the Chargers have a pretty good team. I
think they'll probably be okay as far as making the
playoffs are concerned, But you know, you never know, I
guess until until it's time, so we'll see it ultimately.
But this could have been maybe a little look at
the preview of a playoff matchup where we could see
the Harball family once again in having to choose sides here.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
Yeah, I mean, I didn't think that there was a
ton of Chargers fans though in attendance either. I feel
like for whatever reason, those LA stadiums, even even when
the Rams play Man they up LA State, will just
does not come out like.
Speaker 1 (49:24):
Or the Rams that don't get the fans than the
charge I think.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
But yeah, you're right, it's a shame. It's a shame, John,
your people don't support your team.
Speaker 1 (49:35):
All right, Well, it is a shame. And what also
is a shame is that that is it for week twelve.
So we've now put the cap on week twelve and
it's time to move on to week thirteen.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
Moving on forward, John, let's do it.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
I love when I set you up for things that
you're not ready for, Like when I just end sentences
and you're like, oh, what should I say here? Uh,
because you're probably waiting for to do this. It's time
for hard locks. Sorry, Sorry, I met it's time for
guests to spread. I know you're right. No, we're not
(50:14):
jumping out of order. It's time to play guess that spread.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
It's time to play guess spread. All right, our best one?
Speaker 1 (50:32):
Yeah, I think so too. All right, so let's let's
play guest that spread. I think most of our most
of our loyal fans know how it works by now. So, Randall,
I've been dominating this year and guess that spread. For
whatever reason, it's really just all come together for me.
I don't really have a rhyme or reason to it.
I've just been able to kind of figure out things
this year. Last week I went two for three. You
(50:55):
did go one for three. However, it was just simply
not a enough once again to beat me.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
John, You've been on another level this year, man, And
I'm telling you it's been the fourth quarter. It's been
that last drive, Hail Mary. What it's going on? John's
jumping up and making the waw on handed ground.
Speaker 1 (51:18):
I know, and it's often it's been at the very
end as well that I've kind of pulled it out here.
But I don't know, I don't know. We'll see what
happens this week. But that being said, I can get
us started.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
If you'd like, Let's do it. John Rippett.
Speaker 1 (51:36):
All right, So the first player I'm gonna give you
for this weekend, as far as quarterbacks aren't concerned, is
I'm gonna go to the La Rams and New Orleans
Saints game. I'm not gonna go with my guy Matt Stafford,
but I would like for you to tell me how
many passing ours Derek Carr is on the sleeve for
this week.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Let's see their car, Derek Carr, he's gonna be it's
gonna be somewhere in between two forty two sixty and
I'm gonna go with two forty seven and a half.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
John Randall, you are way too high, my man. You
gotta be laying off the cush two fourteen and a half.
Speaker 2 (52:22):
Wow. Yeah, yeah, from the raptors. Just send me down, baby,
whoa man. That was a brutal Yeah, that was that.
Speaker 1 (52:32):
Was pretty brutal. It's okay, You'll still have a chance
to rebound.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Okay. Well, on another note, John, my favorite quarterback in
the NFL. We're gonna go with Vegas at Kansas City.
You know who he is. I know who he is.
Give me Patrick Mahome.
Speaker 1 (52:54):
I thought you were gonna do a little like a
favorite quarterback. Here's Gardner Minshew kind of thing. Where are
they playing this game? It's in Oakland or sorry, it's
in Vegas, in Kansas City. Okay, it's on Black Friday
on Kansas City. So this game is coming up rather quickly.
I'm gonna go ahead and say this number is gonna
be two thirty four and a half.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Uh, no faith in your que be, John, Nope, two
fifty one.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
That all right? Okay, I was closer.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
Than you were, So yeah you were. But don't worry
on that spreadsheets coming soon.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
All right. Philly is playing at Baltimore this week, and
Derrick Henry is having a great year, as is Saquon Barkley,
maybe having the two best seasons, both of them joining
those respective teams before this season. I'd love for you
to tell me how many rushing yards the line is
set for for Derrick Henry at the moment. This game
will be played at Baltimore at four to twenty five
(54:00):
PM on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
I'm gonna say seventy eight and a half yards.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
John Randall, you are on the board seventy nine and
a half oh, you are very close to the year's
first exactly. We're still waiting week twelve. We're week thirteen now,
we're still waiting for our first exact y. But Randall,
you have taken a one nothing leading.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
We love that. Wow, wow, wow, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, awesome, John,
thank you. I appreciate that. Now, a guy that has
been absolutely destroying the NFL. John destroying.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Uh huh.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
I'm gonna give you any of you want to hear.
Give me Sequalm Barkley rushing. Okay, Keldy at Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
It's the same game that I just gave you Barkley.
Let's see, he's been very similar to Henry, so I
have to imagine the numbers for these two are gonna
be somewhat similar, maybe a tad more on Barkley. I'm
gonna go with eighty three and a half.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
N two and a half, and that is high. He
is such a go on a day, is what they're saying.
That is.
Speaker 1 (55:31):
That's kind of crazy. But he's had that kind of year,
so good for him. Okay, Randall, I'm gonna go for
a receiver. I always try to give you a tough
one for receiver. Just to try to stump you a
little bit here. I'm not going to go all that tough.
I'm gonna give you a brand name a guy that's
burst upon the scene this year as a rookie, Ladd McConkie.
(55:54):
The Chargers are playing at the Falcons. What is LADDI
mcconkee's receiver line set at?
Speaker 2 (56:01):
My friend, well, John, he just he led them and
received in this past week against the Baltimore Ravens. He's
a great Brookie. He represents the undersize, under undervalued wide receiver. Okay,
let's just say I'm gonna go with sixty five and
(56:26):
a half.
Speaker 1 (56:26):
Yards Randall you have another point sixty eight and a half.
Speaker 2 (56:34):
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
All right, Well, the good news is that you you're
up to two. But the bad news that I could
still catch.
Speaker 2 (56:50):
You here with an exact team that you can that
you can. So I'm gonna go with a man that
has just absolutely been and booty cheek all year long.
Great gim me Marvin Harrison, Junior, Arizona app Minnesota. Eh
(57:11):
oh man.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
Okay, so he has not been great. It's been you know,
there's been moments, certainly, but your point is valid. He's
not been overall the best. I think this number is
gonna be lower than I would expect it to be,
but not so low that it's such disrespect. I'm gonna
(57:33):
say that his number is forty seven and a half.
That's the number that keeps jumping.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
Out of me, John, do you want to just say
that one more time?
Speaker 1 (57:45):
Forty seven and a half?
Speaker 2 (57:50):
This guy, this guy that is one?
Speaker 1 (57:58):
No, what was it forty eight?
Speaker 2 (58:03):
Forty eight and a half? Job?
Speaker 1 (58:05):
Oh, oh my god, I should have said forty eight
and a half. Forty seven and a half was just
like screaming to me for some reason.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
If you got an beyond that job, that would have
been like four weeks in a row. Hail Mary, Like,
I'm gonna start calling you Jene and Daniels Doddy. I
mean you got it was basically like you got the
ball down to the one yard line and just couldn't
get it in the end zone. Like still impressive. Yeah,
you know your wide receivers. You know your wide receivers,
(58:38):
and the end the story unless you're cheating, but you
know your wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
Yeah. I wouldn't do that. I don't want to. Like
I used to accuse you of cheating in this game.
We used to play it with the game sprints, but
I wouldn't do that for the integrity of the game.
But that being said, I mean that is that's pretty
wild that I was been in one there, but you
did win, so you've got two. That's only one for me,
so you finally, uh finally back in the wind column.
(59:02):
I guess that spread.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
I'm ending the drought, John, I ended the drought.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
Ended the drought, is right? That does it for guess dam.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
Spread John. I don't know if it's coming in like
this for you, but for me, it sounds like like
this segment right here, like we were on sync, like
we said every word at the same time.
Speaker 1 (59:33):
The car audio is a little weird, but it's fine.
Speaker 2 (59:36):
It see to me. It's like I said, guess you're saying,
guess I said spread them? You say spread them.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
I don't think we say spread them. I think we
say spread I I don't know. I don't know what
you're talking about or who you're talking to about spreading them.
But yeah, but anyway, that doesn't forgets that spread. So
let's move into hard lock for week thirteen. As you know, Randall,
it's Thanksgiving week. So we've got a full slate of
(01:00:06):
Thanksgiving games, We've got a Black Friday game, and then
of course we have the rest of the slate on Sunday.
All the games are available for us to pick for
hard locks.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
Here.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
Last week you went one and two and I was
zero and three. So not a great week for either
one of us. The lone win you had, who was
the loan win you had again that had in front
of me and.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
Now I know and of course, uh the loan win
that was the Tampa Bay That is correct.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
So you had the Buccaneers winning and covering and they did.
Everybody else that we picked did not. Okay, Randall, I'm
going to let you go first since you were the
winner last week, even with your one win, Thank.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
You, John the winner. I'm I'm gonna give you three
winners this week. Man, I'm picking three and oh I
already have. That's the idea for us, it really is.
And let me tell you what. And it's gonna start
off with Dallas minus three point five. Okay, they're going
up against the stinky g men right now. And I
(01:01:07):
don't mean any disrespect to Tommy DeVito, okay, but it's
just I think the Giants are becoming the Jets. They
playing the same stadium, which means we're putting them on
the don out bet list, John, do not bet on
the Giants. Do not bet on the Jets. Gimme Cowboys
and Cooper Rush as he rushes away with the victory
(01:01:28):
for you all on Thanksgiving minus three and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Now, Randall, I don't know if you saw, but he
was also announced a little while ago. I mentioned that
Danny the Dan Daniel Jones news, but they also announced
the Giants announced that Tommy DeVito is not going to
play in this game. He was injured. He's going to
be the emergency quarterback for the Giants. So they're gonna
be starting Drew Locke and the backup will be Tim Boyle,
(01:01:55):
who they signed a week or two ago. So I
don't know if that changes your pick at all, But
just so you know, it's not gonna be the Veto,
It'll be Drew Locke.
Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
It does not change John My pick at all. Do
you want to know why? Why? Because I got Cooper Rush,
the best backup in the league behind Bailey's Zappie and
Mike White. Okay, okay, fair enough.
Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
All right, I'm gonna also pick a Thanksgiving game first,
I'm gonna go with a slightly larger spread. See what
I did there, Thanksgiving larger spread. I'm gonna go ahead
and pick the Lions minus nine and a half. I
know that it's a big spread for them, but they
are a really good football team and there's no reason
for me to believe they're not gonna be able to
handle the Bears at home by ten points. So give
(01:02:41):
me the Lions to roll the Bears. I know the
Bears coming off a pretty emotional game in which they
were able to tie up the Vikings late, but I
like this one for the Lions at home on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
What was the line?
Speaker 4 (01:02:54):
John?
Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
Nine and a half? WHOA?
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Yeah. Sometimes you always have these games where they're just
absolute blowouts and you're like, eh, I'm wasting on this
is fun watching this Thanksgiving Day. And that used to
be the case when they were the John Kitten Allions,
you know what I mean, back in the day, the
John Kitten Allions. This team, John, I'm proud of this
(01:03:24):
young man. He's got a lot of time left in
the NFL. I'm taking Minnesota and minus three and a
half at home against Arizona. All right, Sam Donald, justin Jefferson,
they know what they're doing. He chucks the ball up,
(01:03:44):
he catches it, they score touchdowns. All right. Great teams
continue to win, and they went at home. Minnesota has
an edge at home unlike any other right now, Yeah, okay,
give me Minnesota minus three and a half. They didn't
cover two and a half this week, but they're gonna
be covering it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
I was gonna warn you. I just took them three
and a half and they only won by three, So
hopefully they fare better for you than they did for me.
I'm gonna go ahead and take the Commanders. They're at
home on Sunday minus five and a half. I know
they're coming off of a tough loss to the Cowboys,
but they're hosting the Titans, and the Titans are kind
of coming off of a big win. So I just
(01:04:24):
think this has all the makings of a comeback down
to Earth spot for the Titans and for the Commanders
hopefully a little bit of an urgency. Let's come back
to reality and play better spot. So just logic a
loan is telling me Commanders minus five and a half
will be too low of a line for this game.
I think they'll win by at least a touchdown. Give
me the Commanders minus five and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
I like that jobs now, it wouldn't be hard Locks
without a dog now, wouldn't give me the New England
Patsies plus two. I gainst the Colts. I don't think
Anthony Richardson has anything going from right now. He's down
(01:05:07):
in the dumps. They're not playing well. New England is
gonna get their act together right here. Drake May is
gonna show up and show why he was a top pick.
New England.
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
The dogs. The dogs are out. I will say the
Colts have played fairly well against the teams that they
should be beating on paper. But to your point, I
don't think Richardson's can all that great, so maybe Drake
May can just outplay him and they can, especially at
home as a home dog. I don't mind that pick
at all. Randall, uh, I am not going to go
the way of an underdog this week. I'm gonna go
straight straight favorites across the board, and the last team
(01:05:44):
that I'm gonna pick is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers minus six.
Coming off a high on the road, they beat the Giants.
They're gonna be in Carolina, so another road game for them,
but a division opponent and a division opponent that I
think that they should be able to handle fairly easily.
They're getting healthier with Mike Evans coming back, the rushing
attack is kind of all clicking. So I will go
(01:06:05):
three for three with favorites, and I will take the
Bucks minus six over the Panthers on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Wow, wow, wow wow. I like that. I see plus
five and a half, but I'll give you plus six, John, Great.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
Thank you? Did you Mark? I said minus five and
a half? I think we actually you know what. I
said six, but it just changed to five and a half,
like literally in the last second.
Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
So I'll take five and a half Tampa Bay minus
five point five. You got it.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
You're writing these down right up?
Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
John? What kind of guy would I be? I'm the
writer down a down you are.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
The right You are the writer down or I have
to give you that? So all right, Well that brings
us to the end of hard Locks.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
That does a poor Pa Locks.
Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
That was a little extended bark there, Okay, So that
brings us to the final segment of the show, and
we all know what that is. So, Randall, this is
the point where I handed over to you to take over.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Well, John, it's about to be a shortened version of
the show because normally my girlfriend gives me a word
or phrase to use. I say it, John guesses it. Well,
I forgot to use the word in the phrase, John,
I forgot to use the word in the phrase. And frankly,
(01:07:36):
I forgot to ask for a word and for a phrase.
See the nurse she worked, she worked last night, got
home at eight am, working overnight, and I forgot to
ask her before she uh went to sleep.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
That's okay.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
So and uh so I could have came up with
the word I forgot and that's not me.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
That's okay. It just mean that neither one of us win.
It is a great week for it the week of Thanksgiving,
so we can each take a break from all the hostility.
When it comes to the word of the day. I
was gonna say though there was nothing out there that
I had. I didn't really have a guess. So I'm
glad that you didn't have a word because I didn't
have anything that I thought could have been the word
(01:08:19):
of the day.
Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
You could have. I could have just made up a
word that I said, and you would have been like, wow,
I really didn't even remember hearing that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
Well, anyway, I appreciate your honesty when it comes to it,
all right, Ran, Well, well that brings us then to the
end of the episode, and I guess since it is
Thanksgiving week, I will ask you, you know, what are
your favorite Thanksgiving foods that you're gonna be putting on
your plate tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
Oh? Man, I'm a turkey guy stuffing guy. You know.
Sometimes they have a little hickory smoke ham where I go.
That's the list. You like all that stuff?
Speaker 1 (01:08:57):
Because you're very picky, aren't you.
Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
I'm very picky, But I love that stuff, dude, I
I truly do. I love turkey, love mass potatoes, love gravy,
love stuffing, love meat stuffing. I love I love it all.
I love it all.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
You like the cranberry sauce.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
I do like cranberry sauce, Jehan.
Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
You like the sweet potatoes.
Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
Potato?
Speaker 1 (01:09:22):
My mom makes the sweet potatoes. He puts like marshmallows
on top and they melt. It's so good. It's like
candy dams or whatever. That's that's really good. What else?
What kind of pie.
Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
Do you like I'm a pumpkin, I'm an apple. I'm
a peakan kind of guy.
Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
You know you got one of each slice on the
plate there?
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
Oh what a beach spice. Don't be silly. I go
two to three of each spice.
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
Job.
Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
Yeah, just cream on top.
Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
Just making sure. All right, Well that's good. I so hopefully,
h hopefully everybody can have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy
listening to us getting ready for the weekend. It is,
but obviously with the three games on thing Thanksgiving, it
always feels like a bigger football day than most other
Thursday night games. So we'll have three games Thursday, which
could be today by the time you're listening to this.
(01:10:09):
The one game will be on Friday, that's the Chiefs
and Raiders, and then the rest of the slate on Sunday. Randall,
I truly hope that you have an amazing Thanksgiving and
I cannot wait to talk to you in December next
week after week thirteen.
Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
Wow, John, go eat up, baby, go eat up, go
protein up. And hey, I'm a great nap on the
couch after you're done eating.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
Yeah, John, that Giants Cowboys game looks like a prime
time to be napping.
Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
So oh yeah, well.
Speaker 1 (01:10:41):
I'd be doing that myself. All right, Randal, go ahead
take it away for us, Why don't you?
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Goodbye, goodbye, good friends, goodbye.
Speaker 4 (01:10:52):
It's the Thanksgiving poll.
Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
We're going to eat some.
Speaker 4 (01:10:58):
Food and what so oh go and I hope you
stay away, far a away far All so long, friend,
I got nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
I got a word to the guys. I got nothing.
See you next time.
