Speaker 1 (00:21):
What is going on? Everybody? Welcome, Welcome, Welcome back to
the penultimate episode of the season of the John Randall
Football Experience. My name is John Avino, and with me
on the other side is Randall. Minoah, random, we've made
it to the Super Bowl. Can you believe it?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Man, it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
When the season starts, you're like, wow, we got eighteen nineteen,
all these weeks to go until playoff time starts, and
then next thing you know, it's boom, it's the Super Bowl,
and you're like, how did we get here? There's teams
that shouldn't be here, there's teams that have played well, oh,
just a lot of shenanigans that have gone on throughout
(01:03):
the course of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
And we're left with two.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
And we are left with two, the Eagles and the Chiefs.
As we know, we talked last week briefly about the
results of the Kings prior. Obviously we didn't get into
the Super Bowl at all, which we will do here
in a few minutes. But Randall, it's only right that we,
with two episodes left, start today as we have all
season long, with quick hits, big hits. Thank you. Okay,
(01:31):
So we had the NFL Awards last night, and it's
fun because there was a lot of expected awards. There
were maybe some that were a little bit surprising, but
of course we got some answers to some questions that
we were wondering about who we're going to be honored
after the seasons that they had. So I guess we
can start with the maybe not so surprising ones unless
(01:52):
you have somebody that you thought should have won the
award differently than these guys. But Saquon Barkley won the
Offensive Player of the Year award, which I think is
justified given the season he had, almost breaking the rushing
record there for the single season. And then Patrick Certan
actually one defensive Player of the Year in opposite of Saquon,
(02:15):
So those two took home those awards. Any thoughts on
those guys winning those awards and did you think they
were the right choices given the seasons that they had.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Is Offensive Player of the Year, I mean, shouldn't that?
Isn't that your MVP essentially, because when one is your
offensive player, not your MVP, not on offense aka most
likely a QB.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
But yeah, I think they should change the name of
the award to Best Quarterback for MVP because quite frankly,
that's usually what it is. The Offensive Player of the
Year ends up being like Cooper Cup that year he
set the record for catches, or Christian McCaffrey last season,
or Saquon Barkley this season. It always ends up being
(02:59):
a different off offensive skill set, position player that has
a great Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
I mean, and I do think it is fair to
say that, say Kwang could be the MVP, because do
we really think the Eagles are going to be doing
what they did if they did not have sae Quon.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Bark No, although they did two years ago.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
They I mean not to this extent.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Well they got to this point.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yes, but they're fifteen and one in their last sixteen eights.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
But you're being.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Ridiculous with two episodes to go job being ridiculous. But
what I But the point I'm trying to make is, yes,
I do think you, like you said, they should change
the the names of it from maybe and I think
it could still be an MVP. But if your Offensive
Player of the Year and your MVP are both on offense,
(03:54):
it doesn't make sense.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
It's contradicting itself.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
What about most Valuable Quarterback and best Offensive Player or
Most Valuable Offensive Player quarterback.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
But yeah, yeah, I mean, but you don't you don't
you have it in baseball, you have an m v P, right,
just one. You don't do a best offensive hitter, best
best we have the best first basement hitter where you
got your silver sluggers and stuff like that, right.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
But yeah, but pitchers can win this the m v P.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Correct, We've seen.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
It happen before.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Correct. And then you have your cy Young Award winner, which.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
M vps or batters can't win, so wins the m
v P has also won the cy Young because I'm
pretty sure that's what happened with Verlander, isn't it? At
one point?
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yep?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
But I mean I think I think we found something
in the whole of these professional sports leagues that they
need to uh tidy up.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
A little bit. Yeah, I don't disagree with you. I
think it's a great point, because honestly it is. You know,
they already separate the two awards, but I think that
they probably should just, you know, the Defensive Player of
the Year. They don't name a defensive MVP as well,
you know what I mean, because it's implied that the
MVP is going to be somebody who technically could be
(05:17):
on defense. But you're never gonna see a defensive player
win MVP in today's NFL. So if you're already separating
defensive player from offensive player, and your defensive players really
have no chance of winning your MVP anyway, then you
might as well just call the MVP award the most
Valuable Quarterback Award and then just give the other guy
the most offensive or most valuable offensive or whatever you
(05:38):
want to call it, because again, McCaffrey last year, Saquon
this year. You know, I even go back to Cooper
Cup again, who I remember a few years back won
it with the Rams. It's it is different, obviously, because
they're talking about offensive production and a guy who potentially
broke a record or came close to breaking a record.
But the MVP obviously usually just goes to a quarterback
(05:59):
of a team at home success, which is silly because
why I called m VP if it's just going to
be the quarterback that we want to you know, Annoy here, right,
Zach correct? Yeah, the rookie here, yeah, yeah, you read
in my mind, Daniels clear choice offensively right.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Oh one hundred. Nobody even came close the dude made
the playoffs. He won on the road, tough loss, okay
against the Eagles. I mean, this, dude, this this this,
this guy deserved it. Deserved it without a doubt.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Yeah, I agree. I mean he you know, being the
second pick, you're gonna have a lot of eyeballs on
you anyway. But we've obviously talked about him throughout the year,
and you were high on the Washington right at the
beginning of the season coming into the year. But yeah,
what a year. I mean, Caleb Williams didn't really do
anything with the Bears this year. Maybe he will next
year with Ben Johnson now as his coach. Bo Nicks
(07:03):
was probably I didn't see you finished second. I don't
know if they announced that kind of stuff, but he
was probably right there because Bonnicks had a good year
once he got the chance to start. Drake May obviously
was probably in the mix. I don't know a little bit,
but not really. He was a pro bowler, so you
have to take him seriously a little bit, I guess.
And then obviously Panics didn't play a ton, so he
wasn't gonna be there. But Defensive Rookie of the Year
(07:25):
went to my guy, Jared Verse on the Rams who
had a great year.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
You know, him and.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Aaron Donald now both winning Rookie of the Year for
the Rams when they were on defense. So that's got
in common with Big Number ninety nine. I am excited
about the future with him on defense. I'll talk about
the Rams for a second in a couple of minutes
here with some of the news that's come out about
them in the recent days. But yeah, I was happy
(07:51):
to see Verse win Rookie of the Year defensively because
it was pretty clear that he made a huge impact
right away, you know, coming out of Florida State, which
was cool to see. And then ye had Joe Burrow
win Comeback Player of the Year. I think it's the
second time he's won it, right, because the one time
coming back from the major injury and then this time
(08:12):
again coming back from an injury. So he's he won it,
and he said something funny about not wanting to be
nominated for that award multiple times. But he did have
a great year despite the Bengals not going to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Randall, I mean, he did have a great, great season numerically, right,
if you take out the wins and losses, he was
first and yards first and touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I believe, yeah, second, and I.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Don't know, he's like eighth or ninth in interceptions, so
he was up there right like ha, The do so,
especially the defense and offensive lot.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah, no doubt. And then when you look at the
the MVP award here, you know, it was Josh Allen,
which I think is surprising for a couple of reasons.
One because he had a great year, which we know,
and he was kind of, you know, as a stretch
run was happening for both the Bills and the Ravens.
The Ravens kind of you know, Lamar kind of stood
(09:23):
out down the stretch, I'll say. But it was more surprising,
I think because Lamar was named the All Pro Quarterback
based on the voting, and the voting for that is
the same people who vote on the MVP. So it
was kind of surprising to see Lamar get the nod
for All Pro. However, Josh Allen was voted the MVP.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
John It literally just goes exactly back to what we
were just talking about.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
None of it makes sense, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
None of it makes sense, and it goes it was
also to the fact of some of these guys making
the Pro Bowl. That it's like Drake May should not
have made the Pro Bowl. I love to do it,
but he should not have made the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
I think he threw two pick sixes in the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Oh my god. And that's people not even playing I know.
So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Did you see the final score of the Pro Bowl?
Speaker 3 (10:26):
By the way, I did not. I didn't even watch it.
I forgot.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
I mean, I didn't watch it either. It's you know,
it's a lot different than it used to be when
we were kids. But they so the Pro Bowl, the
actual game, the final score was. I don't even think
you could guess it if I gave you a chance
to guess it, fifty to forty your way off it
was seventy six to sixty three. Because they don't play that.
(10:55):
It's just like touch football obviously.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
And then yeah, I'm trying to find if I was
trying to find if I could see if Drake May
threw a couple of pick sixes. But I can't find
it right now. I just read it the other day.
I don't remember where I read it. But I didn't
watch a second of this game.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
And Russell Wilson, I believe was there too. Yeah, in
the Pro Bowl. It's like, come on, guys, like.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Don't forget a few years ago Tyler Huntley made it
when he was on the radio. So it's yeah, it's
just ridiculous this point. Okay, So before we move into
actually I guess that does ever Quick.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Hits does it for what Quick Hits kits?
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Before we move into guess that spread, I just need
a moment here, Randall, because as you may have read
and heard and they've even seen this week, there's been
a lot of speculation to talk about the Rams future,
specifically with Cooper Cup and now Matthew Stafford. So Cooper
Cup was kind of first. It came down the other
day that the Rams are going to be looking into
(11:55):
trading him this offseason. I can't tell you that I'm shocked, honestly,
because it's product has gone downhill, and a guy who's
being paid like he's going to be paid at this
point his career, it's probably not the best financial decision
for them to keep him. However, I will say that
for what he's meant to that organization in the last
eight years, you know, they could probably find a way
(12:17):
to do it and continue to keep what they've already
gotten the building there. But then you had this whole
Matthew Stafford angle that kind of came into it over
the last couple of days. And it's really come from
his wife, Kelly Stafford, who has been, you know, an
outspoken voice over the years. It has a podcast now,
and I think this is where she said it, but
(12:37):
basically her thoughts were, you know, while she loves la
if at this point they decided like they want to
move on for Matthew Stafford, she will be fine with it.
And she mentioned specifically talking about Cooper cup leaving and
the fact that they're going to trade him, And to me,
it sounded like a woman who was very much speaking
what her husband was probably feeling in a lot of ways,
(12:59):
and she's done that before. So I'm a little bit
kind of skeptical about what this offseason could look like
for the Rams, because for the first time since they
traded for Matthew Stafford, I really do feel like this
could be the end of this small era of Rams football,
which obviously, for me, has been the most successful era
that I remember in recent history, because they won a
(13:21):
Super Bowl and they obviously went to the one and
lost with the Patriots, which was still with Goff. But
but yeah, not to ramble on for too much here, Randall,
but I'm a little bit scared that the Rams are
going to go into this offseason and things are going
to fall apart and suddenly I'm gonna be rooting for
a team that is not going to be competing for
a playoff spot next season. Jeez, John, John, Yeah, yeah,
(13:47):
pick me up a little bit here.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
John, I need you to understand something. There's hope Stetson.
Bennet's a winner, man, God won He's a winner.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
He's thirty years old already, Yeah he is.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
But that's called mature maturity.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
No veteran maturity is spending like seven years in college.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Right, Yeah. I mean, hey, you'll never worry.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
I'm even more worried about Jimmy Garoppolo being the quarterback
next year after that one game he played against Seattle
didn't look terrible.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
I think Jimmy g wouldn't be a bad choice honestly
for you guys, Maybe you go after Sam Darnold to
make a bit on him. I don't know where Stafford's
gonna go, but I do hear that Cooper Cup is
gonna be traded as well. It's it's it's the time
is now, John, the time is now. Lambs are going down.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
As long as they have Pooka and Kyron next year,
I'll be happy. But I am gonna be a little
bit curious about where they go at quarterback if they
do end up trading Stafford. And we'll see if they
do end up trading Cup as well. I have to
imagine that if they're gonna say, if they're willing to
do it, so it will keep an eye on this
the next few weeks. I just kind of see where
(14:58):
it goes. But Randal that that brings us into the
big game, and it's time to play one last edition
of Guests That's Spread.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
It's time to.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Play Guess.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Spread.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
All right, It's time to play Guess That's Spread one
final time this season, Randall, and we're gonna do it
the same way we did it a couple of weeks ago.
And if you missed our episode going into the conference
title games, what we did was we just picked we
both picked the lines that we thought for each player,
(15:42):
and we saw who was closer. So the rules are
you still have to be within the range to get
the point here, Randal, just to remind you, you can't
just be the closer one. However, we're both gonna get
a chance to guess, and we will do it for
each quarterback and each running back, and we'll pick a
receiver from each team as well. Does that work for you?
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Yes? It does?
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Awesome? All right, Randal. Let's start with Patrick Mahomes. What
do you think his passing yard number is. We'll do
both quarterbacks at the same time so that I don't
see ones line after looking at the other.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Oh okay, let's go with Patrick Mahomes. Is gonna be
right around two thirty Nope, too low? To forty I
mean two forty five is just call my name.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
We'll go to forty five and a half.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
All right, So you're putting two forty five and a
half for Mahomes. I'm gonna go a little higher. I'm
gonna go two fifty five and a half, and then
for Allan, since you did Mahomes first, I will go
with let's say two. This is gonna be higher too, probably,
(16:52):
I'm letna say two thirty eight and a half.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
H two fifteen and a half.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Oh okay, all right, let's see where we landed with
the quarterbacks. So Randall, just to remind you, for passing
yard over under, you had Mahomes at two forty five
and a half. I had to fifty five and a half.
He comes in, Wow, two fifty one and a half,
(17:27):
which is just slightly closer to me.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Oh, I thought we were going last week we did
prices right rules.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Well, no, but I'm still within range and I'm closer.
That's how we played all year.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yeah, but last week we did prices right range. You
can't go over.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
No, that's not that's not what we did. I don't
know why I said, Josh Allen. I meant to say
Jalen Hurts, and I'm hoping that you were still picking
the number for Jalen Hurts. But do you want to
amend your two to fifteen and a half. I'll give
you the chance. I'm locked in on my number.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
I'm locked in up by eight and a half.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
I definitely knew it was Hurts, but I said Allen's name.
I've got good news for you. You're right. Two fifteen
and a half is just three off from the posted
line of two twelve and a half. So we both
go on there unless you want to play prices right,
rules in which neither one of us will get one.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
No, no, no, we can play these rules.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
But if we're going by an average cumulative score between
the two, I was closer if you take the two
averages together, so really I could.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Beat that would be that would be a tie break.
We'll see if it happens. Okay, So for running backs, now,
I'll give you the option if you want to pick
Pacheco or Kareem Hunt. But obviously Barkley is the pick
for the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Rip it to me. It doesn't matter, all right, you go.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Let's yeah, do you go for here and give me
your number for Kareem Hunt.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Kareem Hunt is gonna be sixty one and a half.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
All right, I will say the Kareem Hunt is going
to be I'm gonna say fifty three and a half.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
I like Barkley. I will go with God, his numbers
have been absurd. I'm gonna go with one oh seven
and a half.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Oh I like that. I'm gonna go with one fifteen
and a half.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Here, staying right where he's been these last couple of games.
All right, let's look up who is closer on these
when we go to the rushing prop totals. My friend,
we've got rushing yard over under Kareem Hunt is forty
three and a half, so neither do take there. He
(20:00):
was gonna be lower, and then Saquon Barkley. Ooh, Randall,
this this is interesting.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Okay, you're gonna say like ninety two.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
No I'm not. I'm gonna say one eleven and a half,
which is exactly halfway between you and I one oh
seven and a half. You had one fifteen and a half.
So I think we both get half a point there.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
I'll take it. I'll take the half me.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Too, which means we go into our receiving category, Tide,
do you want to do two receivers from each team?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Just one?
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Just right? So then we're gonna do Aj Brown and
Travis Kelcey. Perfect, So you can give me your number
for Travis Kelcey first.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Oh, Travis Kelcey. He's going to be hmmm, big time game.
He's gonna be sixty sixty, sixty and a half, sixty
and a half.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Okay, I'm gonna go with Kelsey here at let's say
it's slightly higher than that. I'm gonna go seventy I'm
gonna go sixty eight and a half.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
I like that. That's a respectable number, John, I respect that.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Thank you, all right. And then for A J. Brown,
I'm gonna go his number is gonna be somewhere probably
fairly similar to that. Actually, I'm gonna go slightly lower,
sixty five and a half.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Yeah, I'm just gonna say fifty six and a half.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Okay, all right, let's see who's closer on these do
over under for receiving yards. Let's see here? Where is it?
Did I miss it? There? You go receiving yards over under? First,
for Travis Kelcey, the number on the book is sixty
(21:54):
one and a half. You were off by one, so
you get the point there. Oh, and then A J.
Brown sixty nine and a half. I was off by four,
which means I get a point there, which means we tied.
That was pretty good. We both both got two and
(22:16):
then both split the one in half.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
I love it. We're pretty good, John breaker, it's the
last one.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yeah, yeah, why not over under field goals kicked for
the game.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
The posted line. That's uh, that's crazy. All right, let's
do let's figure out something we could do here. It's tough,
because I've now looked at most of these lines we're
gonna I don't know. I don't know what to do.
All right, Why don't I just give you a line
and if you get it, you win. If you don't,
(22:50):
I win.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Let's let's just guess a person like Isaiah Pacheco.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Yeah, what about him?
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Let's guess them. Let's gets the rushing yard. Yeah, problems.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
I already saw it when I was looking at Kareem
Hunts total after Oh my word, I don't want to
like you know, I don't want to b s U.
Let's just call it a tie.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
I guess you know, all right, John, I guess.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
I guess we can use your tie breaker rule and
see who was cumulatively closer if you want.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Nah, that'll take too much math to add out there. Yeah,
but it's only right.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Did the last guest that spread of the year?
Speaker 3 (23:28):
All right? Here?
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Now this is what we'll do, John. We could do
a rock paper scissors shoot game real quick.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
All right?
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Ready, rock baby scissors, shoes shoe rock scissors.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Yes, and I said it first too, so I win.
That was completely kosher.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
The weird thing is it actually had me saying my
first on my head.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
But that's funny.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Well, I mean, yeah, we'll play it back in real
time and see who shows up first on the actual
audio recall. All right, Well that does it for.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
D sread all right, Randall, Well, there's only one thing
left to do with this game, the big game, and
that is picket.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
It's time to play hard Locks one final time here
in this season.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Yeah, that's true, because it's time for.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Hard Lock.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
You notice what I did there?
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah? You like forgot what you were doing. I was like,
wait a minute, this guy is checked out already.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
No, I said hard lock instead of hard Locks.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
I got it. Yeah, it's a hard.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Hard Lock Super Bowl Edition.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
I think we came into this week with the exact
same record in the playoffs, Is that correct?
Speaker 2 (24:58):
I believe so, John, If anything, I might be a
game up, but I believe we are tied.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
No, if anything, you might be a game up. Yeah. Now,
actually we went three and three the first week, two
to one and one the second week, and then I
don't remember what happened with the third week because I
don't have it written down here. Do you remember what
happened in the week three of the playoffs? The championship
Rowns two games.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Like our records?
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Yeah, do you have those? Still?
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Let me check here, John, let's see hard locks. Yes
I do.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
I had Eagles minus six and Bills plus one and
a half commanders, and you had Commanders and Bills, So.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
You won the Eagles game. Neither one of us won
the Bills, so you are one up on me.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
You're correct, Okay.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
That means that here in the playoffs, you are six
four and one and I am five five and one
with one game left to pick. So Randall, why don't
you go ahead and do the honors of picking the
Eagles first so I can pick the Chief second.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
John, You know there's a rule. You know, there's a rule.
Back in the day when Tom Brady was playing. You
know what the saying was.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
What do your job?
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Don't you don't bet against Brady? And the Vegas community,
it was, you don't bet against Brady Brady. Brady's got
out there, right Brady, that's Brady that However, there's a
new saying, John, do you know what that new saying is?
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Don't bet against my homes.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Don't bet against my homes. Some people call him my homeboy.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
John. You think I'm going with the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Well, I'm going where your money can't lose, and that's
on the Eagles plus one of.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
The saw that come a mile away.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Oh and it's not because I'm biased, It's because everybody
and their mother is on the Chiefs. Vegas needs the
needs the under and the Eagles so that way they
do not lose a bunch of money. I'm taking both.
I'm parlaying them. Give me the Eagles, give me the Yonder.
I don't even know what the under is, Just give
me the Yonder. Saquon's gonna go off. Mahomes is gonna stink.
(27:15):
Jalen Hurts is gonna beat him, facing him for his
second time. Kellen morres oc This is going to be
going down in history.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Mahome boy, ain't no more boy.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
This guy is about to be homeless once Travis Kelsey
Lee's no more help. He's done, done, done, and no
better way to be done than losing in the Super
Bowl to Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
And it's gonna be over the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
John will claim victory and I will not have to
hear anymore.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Is Patrick Mahomes the.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Goat man that you just laid out your dream scenario
by the way. So you're taking Eagles plus one and
a half, and you're also suggesting to h.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
No, no, no, I'm suggesting take the Eagles alternate spread
minus twenty and a half.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
All right, for the sake of our game. You're taking
the Eagles plus one and a half, and you're also
suggesting that you'd take the under forty eight and a half. Correct. Okay, Well,
officially we're going to pick I guess we're gonna pick
the over under two because that could help me get
back in this year, and not only to overtake you
(28:26):
or tie you with the Chiefs win, but overtake you
if I have you over under correct as well. So
I'm gonna go with the Chiefs minus one and a half.
Here should be no surprise because of what I've been
telling you all year long, Randal, on this very show.
You know, every week you'd come on here and you
complain about this and how the refs are helping out
(28:46):
the Chiefs and how they're winning these games they shouldn't
be winning. And what did I tell you every single
time we sat here, I said, Randal, you gotta worry
about the Chiefs, maybe more this year than ever before,
because they're not playing their best and they're still finding
ways to win. Mahomes had a pedestrian year statistically wise,
he was kind of middle of the pack when you
look at quarterbacks, but he is here in the playoffs
(29:09):
done what he needs to do to defeat everybody to
get back to this point again. And I'm sorry. I
will give Tom Brady credit because he was the only
guy who could beat this guy in the playoffs other
than Joe Burrow at one time. But Tom Brady is
the only guy who did it multiple times, and Josh Allen,
for whatever reason, just has not been able to overcome this.
Jalen Hurts has been through it once and unfortunately for
(29:31):
Jalen Hurts, he's going to go through it again. The
Chiefs did not lose when they get to this spot
unless they are playing the best quarterback of all time,
which is Tom Brady. For now, I'm giving the Chiefs
the spread minus one and a half, and I will
take the under with you, because I do believe that
these over unders are stupid in the Super Bowls or
(29:52):
any playoff games because usually it's always under. So I'll
take the under with you there so we can tie
their potentially but I'm going to go Chiefs one and
a half all day long. I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
That's okay, John, I'll forgive you.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
It's okay. I look, I'm not looking for forgiveness. All
I'm looking for is logic. And this guy has been
in the Super Bowl and my friends or you or
whoever's telling me, Hey, I gotta bet on the Eagles.
I gotta bet on the Eagles. We really want the
Eagles to win. I'm saying, Look, you could waste your
money if you want. Go ahead, Randall, throw away your
money if you want to bet on the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
You know, John, I could bet on the Chiefs and
that way, if they win, I win money.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
If they lose, I'm happy. But no, I'm going I'm
going with emotional hedge.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
I'm going where the money is going to be made,
and that's on the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Yeah, we will see. The only thing I would say
about the Eagles is probably Saquon Barkley will have another
big game. But the Chiefs, in my opinion, are the
team to beat here because they've been this way the
last several years now. Going for the three in a row,
going for the fourth of Mahomes' career, I'm just saying
they're gonna get it done. So all right, Randell, that
(31:00):
brings us to the end here. I don't know if
you had a word of the day or not, so
I'm gonna let you let you tell me if you did,
and if you did, I'll try to guess.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
John, I had no word of the day today.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
I was just focused on making sure we had a great,
great Super Bowl one.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
But I will tell you what.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Next week for our recap, there's gonna be a word
of the day. And I already have the word too,
by the way, Okay, I already have the word, and
it's gonna be a great word, especially if the Chiefs lose.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
I thought I thought that maybe it was shenanigans because
you said shenanigans early on, and that would have been
my guest had you told me there was a word.
But uh, but yeah, I figured maybe there also wasn't
because I know when it's time for the playoffs that
you just lock in here and you're super dedicated. So
I know that you don't want to screw around with
any funny.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Business, right, no funny business, Sean.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
All right, man, Well that does it for us. I
know it's a little bit shorter of an episode, but
only one game to preview here. Happy with the season
we've had, Randal, It's gonna be a shame that this
is the last time we're previewing game this season. But
I'm looking forward to recapping the super Bowl with you
next week, and looking forward to to our offseason as well,
which we'll get to after the super Bowl. But first
(32:20):
and foremost looking forward to the big game on Sunday. Randall,
go ahead and take it away for the second to
last time this season.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Hey, John, this was really fun. I hope you enjoyed
it too. Looks like we just begun, but now we're
finally through.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Goodbye, goodbye, good friends, goodbye.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
This is the.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Final Fall weekend. The Chiefs the Eagles in a big
boy match.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
I hope the Eagles come.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Out on top.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Come out on top.
