Speaker 1 (00:21):
What is going on? Everybody? Welcome, Welcome, Welcome back to
another edition of the John and Randall Football Experience. My
name is Johnavino, and joining me from down in Florida,
hoping you're staying save My nain man is Randall Minogue. Randall?
Is the hurricane hit yet?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
John? So where I am in South Florida? Where should be? Okay?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
I don't think it's supposed to hit the west coast
of Florida until like two am.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Potentially.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I got a location that's out there in Clearwater. Luckily,
luckily they said it's gonna go a little south of
Tampa now, which is basically where clear Water is, and
our location John, there, it's not a little hill, and
I know Florida hill's in Florida are there enough?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
So thankfully it shouldn't be getting any flooding. But I
will tell you this one thing, John, the wind is
howling out here.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
I just want to go play golf. I just want
to go play.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Softball and have the wind on my back right now
and hit a ball like Aaron Judge.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Well, he doesn't do much in the playoffs, so that
might not be the best reference right now. But but yeah,
I mean that's I'm glad to hear you're not any
harm's way right now, but we are thinking of of
your Florida brethren who might be in a little bit
more harms way than you. So hopefully everybody stays safe
down there yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Including thank you. John.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Maybe I'll be saying that to you when a nor'easter
hits you guys this winter time, so I'll be saying
stay inside, stay warm, buckle up.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah, well, I'm not looking forward to that. It's already
dipping into the forties at night up here. So all right,
well we have a jam packed episode because a lot's
happened this week, so let's not waste any time, Randa,
let's get into it with quick hits.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Go Ahead Hits presented by Quick Hits.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
All right, John, my quick hit is, can you believe
the Patriots are gonna start Drake may right now? This
is ridiculous, absolutely Mayhem. So much for developing a guy.
I mean, this is gonna be We're gonna talk about
this in the long run. But my quick kit, hot take,
quick take on this is gonna be disaster.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
That's it. You think he's he's not ready or you
think the team's not ready around him.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Not ready around him, John, the dude's gonna end up
six feet under.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Did you see what just happened to Jacoby Brissette.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
I mean they have their highest rated, sorry, the worst
rated offensive line in the entire National Football League. Yeah,
he's Jacoby Brissette was pressured. I'm fifty drop backs this season. Okay,
that is a high amount. I don't know why you
want your third overall pick to be put under this
kind of pressure.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Makes no sense.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, well, I mean that's a It's a good place
to go with your quick hit because I kind of
agree with you, and it's gonna be interesting to see
how it plays out. I'm sure we'll talk a little
bit more about Drake may and this the show goes on.
I'm gonna stick with the theme of the week and
go with the other big story. My quick hit is
going to be about Robert sala. It's an interesting move
for the Jets, and the fact is, I think that

(03:35):
they are going to be better off for making this
move now when they do. You could make the argument
they should have done it coming into the season because
if he's gonna fire him five weeks into the season,
then why didn't he just do it? Coming in? The
timing is a little bit weird, but I do think
that this is the right move in the long run.
I think Sala is a great defensive coordinator. I don't

(03:55):
think he's got the chops to be a head coach.
And it's just some guys just can't take that next
step and it's no offense to them, but they just
need to be a coordinator and I think that's what
he will end up doing eventually. Again, I think the
Jets this is the best move possible. They didn't wait
too long before the train tracks completely fell off, or
before the train completely fell off the tracks.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I should say, no, they really didn't, John, I mean,
but the only thing is they have the same record
they did last year with Zach Wilson.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
They have the same.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Amount of poids score as they did with Zach Wilson.
Question for you, Question for you, John. I'm not a
big Robert Sala fan either, However, A question for you.
Was Robert Sala the one that threw three horrible interceptions
against the Vikings the other day?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
No? He was not.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
He he was not. Was Robert Sala in charge of
play calling on the offense.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Let me check here, No, he was not.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
What is the common denominator with the Jets offensive sucking
last year?

Speaker 2 (04:59):
In the Jets offense sucking this year?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
John Nathaniel Hackett?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Ding ding, ding ding, We have the winner.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Look at you, John, We're just a couple of minutes
into the show and you're already winning games.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
You don't get used to it.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Okay, However, I I just don't see how Nathaniel Hackett
is Your answer is the scapegoat here right? Like, Oh,
you're sorry, that's what That's what I mean. Robert sala
is a defensive coach, so when you bring a defense,

(05:39):
I get it. He's the head coach in charge of everything.
But what's his his main expertise going to be what
the offense? The defensive side of the ball. Okay, is
the Jets defense solid boom? Yes it is. Could it
be a little better on the run, of course, but
you know what defense is keeping them in games?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeas, Jeff ol the defensive coordinator, got elevated to head coach,
so I think they know that he's the guy, and
he's been the one connecting with the players and I
mean solid. I don't think you're wrong. I think what
you're saying is true, But I just think that the
head coach of the football team oversees everything. And the
rumors came out this week that he was going to

(06:19):
strip Hackett of play calling duties, which maybe it was deserved.
Maybe it was deserved, because what you're saying is not wrong.
They had the same numbers last year as Zach Wilson's
they do this year with Rodgers. But I do think
that there needs to be a little bit of a
grace period with your quarterback who's been hurt and now
coming back and trying to find his rhythm, Whereas the
coach has been there now for what three years, and

(06:39):
this just hasn't gotten any better no matter who's been
the players out there for him. So I don't know,
I think that somebody need to be escape coat. And
you're probably not wrong that Hackett is probably next in
line if things don't go well with the offense soon.
But the fact is that the Jets are on the
clock here with Rogers so to speak, because he's not
gonna be around forever, and they had to do something,

(07:02):
and I think unfortunately Robert slid because of how long
he's been there and because he oversees the entire football team.
And let's not forget that Aaron Rodgers likes Nate Hackett.
And again they're trying to please Rogers and keep him
content for now. So I think that's a big part
of it.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
You want to keep Aaron Rodgers content. The only thing
is he's not even playing well. I know, the dude's
playing horrible.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
And that's why you're valid what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
And it's just do I think Salah is a great
head coach? No, I don't.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
But bringing in Nathaniel Hackett horrible move. I get you
wanted to get Aaron Rodgers, but yeah, let's bring in
a forty one year old guy or forty year old
quarterback that over the last couple of years hasn't been
that impressive, that's coming off a bad season. It was
different when Tampa Bay went after Tom. Tom was still
taking great care of his body, doing everything that he

(07:57):
needed to. Oh, by the way, he went to the
OTAs in mini camps and stuff like that in the
summertime with the guys during COVID.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Yeah, I think Rogers went pretty much everything besides the
one when he was in Egypt. But I get your point,
and I also understand you have to understand like and
I think it's you know, he wasn't hurt when they
traded for him. Obviously, he maybe was coming off a
bad year in which he had maybe minor injuries, but
the fact is he got hurt four plays into his
Jets career. They never got to see him last year,

(08:25):
and again, you're gonna be invested in the guy who's
proven that he can win multiple MVPs in this league,
even if he is forty plus years old and so
far has not shown in your uniform. And he performances
other than the game against the Patriots, which honestly was
really just the first two and a half quarters against
the Patriots that he played really well, and then things
kind of didn't go so well for the offense after that.

(08:47):
He didn't play the whole game. By point being that
he really has not had a start to finish great
game yet. And I know that's what you're saying too.
I don't know though, because I think of this. It
continued to go badly and the Jets offense started to
play a little bit better. Then you might have looked
back and say, Okay, well is now the time to
go Basala out of here. So it's kind of like,

(09:08):
you know, it never really works out in the NFL
and when the teams do this, but it works out
in other sports. And I think about the NBA, you know,
I think Lebron and whoever his coaches have been have
been fired multiple times and the guys have taken over
in season. I'm thinking mainly of the guy in Cleveland.
I think it was David Blatt who got fired while

(09:28):
he was coaching Cleveland when he had gone back to Cleveland,
and they hire somebody else and then they have won
the title that year. It works in other sports to
some extent. I don't think it's ever worked in the
NFL where an interim guys come in and led a
team to a Super Bowl. So it would be a
first if somebody can come in and do that. But
I do think that if you're gonna do it, now's

(09:49):
the time to do it because waiting only is gonna
get you nowhere. And they have to hope that Rogers
can turn this thing around because ultimately it is on him.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
It's on him, it's on I really think that Hackett's
not gonna get another coaching job in the NFL if
if this offense does not turn around either. I mean,
the proof is in the pudding crash offense last year,
trash with Denver when he was the head coach there
running plays. I mean, it's obvious, John, it's obvious he's

(10:21):
your problem right now. Get rid of Hackett.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
He hacking you know what. But guess what, John, I
don't care if Aaron Rodgers gets mad about you letting
Hackett go, because guess what, it's not cutting it. You're
you're not playing well. You yourself, Aaron are not playing well.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
With what's being called. So either you got to.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Up your game to save his job or we're gonna
get somebody in here who's gonna call better plays.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
All right, Yeah, I agree?

Speaker 2 (10:55):
All right?

Speaker 1 (10:56):
So you your other your quick kit was about Drake
May So why don't we start with that game from
this past week, the final game of Brissette's starting career,
because this was an ugly ass game, Randall, I don't
have to tell you that. I'm sure you're well aware.
You're not only a Patriots fan, but you live in
the Greater Miami area. So you have ties to this
game on both sides of it now. But you know

(11:19):
there was a field goal fest until the fourth quarter
when the Dolphins scored a go ahead touchdown. Prissett not
you know, not good, not terrible, but he didn't really
do anything to help them win. It was a good
game for Andre Stevenson. But the move has been made.
They're going to Drake may I know you gave your
initial thoughts during your quick hit here. It's not a
good move because there the team isn't ready around him.

(11:42):
So what do you think, what do you expect? What's
your feeling coming out of this Dolphins game? Because obviously
they didn't play very well and that's why the team
is making the change now because they feel like, if
we're not going to do it now, when are we
going to do it? Kind of like the the Robert
Solid thing. But how are you feeling right now as
a Patriots fan?

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Right now?

Speaker 3 (12:02):
I was a Patriots fan. I'm just this past Sunday
was a winnable game. A winnable game. You played a
trash Miami team from head to toe. You couldn't block them.
Jacoby Brissett died every time he was second back. The
play Calumn was horrible. The middle of the field was
wide open the entire game, and they only decided to.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Use the middle of the field for the last three
plays of the game. It seemed like.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
It was a bad loss, John, bad bad loss. And
I don't know Alex van Pelt, he needs to go
his offensive cord and he's horrible. We need to use
our top three pick that we're about to get out
and on a left tackle and just pray that that's

(12:49):
gonna do it. I was very adamant John in the draft.
We just should not get a quarterback. Should not get
a quarterback in this year's draft. Let's get a skills
position player.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Larvin Harrison pretty bad.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
I wanted Marvin Harrison because guess what, then we could
have maybe just so many things wrong.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
John.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
And it's honestly, it's gonna take at least I want
to say two years at best case, but it's gonna
have to be at least three years. It's gonna take
the next three drafts to build a team. And then
I don't even I don't even know if Drake may
will be the guy then.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Because we're putting them in the same situation we put
mac Jones in.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
The only thing I would say is let's bring back
Josh McDaniels. I want to bring back Josh McDaniels. He's
the only one that made mac Jones look halfway decent. Yeah,
and maybe he can make Drake may look decent too well.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
To your point about a lot of the other things
you've said, they they really need a better line around
this kid, and I don't think he's destined to succeed
until they have proper protection plays. I mean, your watch Persett,
and he doesn't necessarily get the rid of the ball quickly,
which is not doing himself any favors. But you also
have to have some sense of protection around him to
have any sort of effective effectiveness in a football game.

(14:06):
It goes for any team.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
You know.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
I didn't watch much of this game. I was traveling,
and I was also the games I was focused on
were not the ones that were not high scoring. But
the Patriots led for most of this game. They scored
a touchdown late in the first quarter to take a
seven to three lead, and they led all the way
until the four to twenty four mark, when Ingolds scored
the touchdown for the Dolphins. So I just think that

(14:29):
if you're a Patriots fan, it was probably demoralizing because,
like you said, it was a winnable game against the
Dolphins team that's not been good since Tua got hurt,
and unfortunately for the Patriots they come out on the
wrong side of this thing. The Dolphins make enough place
to get it done. It only, you know, for the
if you're the Patriots, you have to feel like it's
only gonna get harder from here because they do have,

(14:50):
you know, maybe a couple of softer opponents upcoming. But
this week they have the Texans, and that's that's the
team they end up saying, let's go Drake. May two
is against the Texans, who are four and one, one
of the better teams in the AFC, and you know
they're gonna come in and and just do what they've
done and probably make pretty ugly.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Who did they just destroy the Texans? Yep?

Speaker 1 (15:14):
The will They didn't destroy the Bills when they beat
them by three.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Yeah, but did you see what they did to Josh Allen?

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Yeah? They did. Oh you mean like specifically player wise? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Yeah? And what Josh Allen.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Is considering nine He was nine for thirty in this game.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
He is, he considered one of the better quarterbacks in
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
He's considered by a lot of people to be maybe
top two or three.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
And he struggled against that defensive line in that defense,
So what do you think a rookie with.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
The worst offsup line?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
They said, Hey, guys, uh, let's go ruin our first
round pick. Let's let's let's go, let's go see how
bad he's gonna suck.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Let's kill him.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
They literally held Josh Allen below thirty percent passing for
one hundred and thirty yards. And you're right, I mean,
this defense for the Texans. They're not necessarily world beaters.
They only had one sack of Allen, but they're gonna
make life miserable. And you better believe they probably will
end up with more sacks in this game, because that's

(16:22):
what defensive coordinators do against rookies, is they blitz them.
They put them in situations where they're uncomfortable. And the
Patriots line has already shown such vulnerability. But let's, you know,
let's talk about that game maybe a little bit. Let's
keep our focus on this Texans game because they did
just kind of dismantle the Bills you know, Stroud had
a couple of really nice throws. The unfortunate thing for

(16:43):
the Texans they lose Nico Collins in this game, who
was literally leading the league and receiving, and he's gonna
be out for at least four weeks. He was placed
on IR today. So I mean, the Texans look legit again,
obviously after last season the debut of Stroud. The only
game they've lost to the Vikings, who were undefeated this year,
so you can almost excuse them for that. But the

(17:04):
Texans are four and one, they're primed up. This was
a big win for them, by far, their biggest win
of the season against the team that they hope to
be seeing maybe down the line in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Ramble John.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
The other thing too is I've kind of I kind
of called it at the beginning of the year.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
I said I wasn't sold on this.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Buffalo team because losing Stefan Diggs, they lost Gabe Davis. Okay, however,
you know the first couple of games, Yeah, you know what,
didn't really play anybody. I guess ultimately worthwhile right now,
but he did decent these last two weeks. These last
two weeks, he's really been putting a rock between a

(17:46):
rock and a hard place. I mean, this dude doesn't
look great right now. And is it because of him?
Is it because he has no weapons?

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Right? So it's what do we see it?

Speaker 1 (17:59):
You know what the funny thing is? Yeah, sorry, go ahead,
finish your point.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
No, no, no, that's it. That's it.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
I was just gonna say. The funny thing is I
said the same thing before the season. I expected to
be and you and I were. I think we're picking
two different teams to win the East, but I think
you were on the Dolphins and I was on the Jets,
and we're both kind of saying that the Bills there
could be a falloff just because there's not as many
weapons around him anymore. And those first few weeks it
didn't look like there was gonna be any falloff, specifically

(18:24):
against the Dolphins and the Jaguars, because in the Cardinals game,
they were down in the first half. They had to
come back and win, and he did a lot to
help them come back. But I mean, they blew out
the Dolphins, they blew out the Jags, and then they
get blown out by the Ravens, and in this past week,
it's a close game at the end, but the score
was not nearly what it indicated because of what we said,

(18:45):
Josh Allen really did not play all that well this
Texans defense. He got a credit to them. So I
don't really know what to make of it either. You know,
from the Bills point of view, They've got the Jets
this week on Monday Night Football, which you know, you
never know how to feel about those games. I think
you probably have the statistics better than I do on
the games where the teams fire their coach, how they
play the next week, and which way you're supposed to
bet on them. But the Bills, that's the team they

(19:06):
get next, is this Jets team that just fired their
coach on Monday Night Football, and then there's a stretch
where they play the Bills, or they play the Titans,
they play the Seahawks, they play the Dolphins, they play
the Colts. So it's certainly winnable games there for the Bills.
But the question going to be long term for them.
Are they going to be good against good teams or
are they just gonna beat up on the bad teams?

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (19:29):
I think, and realistically that's every team right like Miami
was doing that for the longest time. Their record we
talked about this lot of black show. Their record versus
teams under five hundred phenomenal. Hm, their record verse teams
over five hundred. And don't get me wrong, like you

(19:50):
said too, they're beating the teams they needed to beat.
But now in Putschcubs to shove, John Josh Allen needs
to step up here.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Yeah, I agree, And he's lucky.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
He's in a crappy division right now.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Yeah they are. I mean, that's the thing is the
Dolphins and the Patriots right now are kind of both
dead in the water without too healthy for the Dolphins,
and we know what the Patriots have looked like. The
only team that maybe if they get resurrected, could be
the Jets. But at this point the Jets have also
looked dead in the water, hence why they're firing their coach,
and the quarterback has not played very well. So the
Bills might just by default be the best team in

(20:27):
that division, even if they end up not being as
good as we thought they were. There were some good
games this weekend. We can go back to Thursday, first second,
the first game of the week. Falcons ended up beating
the Bucks in ot and end up being a pretty
good game back and forth. Kirk Cousins threw for five
hundred and nine yards in this game, and Kup hit
a field goal with time expiring in the fourth and

(20:48):
then Hodge caught a forty eight yard touchdown pass for
Cousins to win the game. I mean, I know this
division is not maybe the best in football, but I
look at these this Bucks and his Falcons team as
two of the more exciting teams in football right now.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Randall, I guess you could definitely say that.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Do you agree or not? I mean, the points, the
way Baker's playing, and I mean Kirk Cousins, maybe not
every week, but the potential that they showed in this game.
It was a lot of fun. This offense, the way
the offense is playing.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
It was fun watching that game. Now.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Are you telling me, am, I going on Sunday turn
on my TV to watch Baker or Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Probably not right now, John.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
If it's a Thursday night game primetime and nothing else
is on, yeah, I'll watch it and tune in, and
if I get to watch a show, I'll watch the show.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
You know. But hey, he bawled out. He did his thing.
Both of them did really well, okay, and they're on
the rise. Now.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
It seems like the Saints are gonna be taking a
little bit of a backseat to both Tampa Bay and
to Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
But are they going to be able to continue this?

Speaker 3 (22:02):
We're a quarter of the way through the season a
little more now, we're on week six, Okay, are they
able to continue to keep it going against teams that
are now starting to figure it out? This is when
it really matters. Okay, We're coming up in the time
when it matters most, and that month is December.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
We're still a month and a half away.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Okay, but now if you can start playing great ball
now and continue to December, say hello to January.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
I mean, this is pretty obvious stuff that you're saying,
but fair enough it is.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
But I'm just saying, both these teams, between these two
John Baker's done this before. Kirk Cousins has had performance
like this before with Minnesota. Right, I'm just not sold yet.
I was quick on the gun to say Saints. Wow,
the Saints after two weeks, Yeah, they are. I know, right,

(23:01):
we both were. But now it's okay, let let's actually
take a step back. How are these two teams defenses.
Did these quarterbacks have a good game, Yes, without a doubt,
But are they going to be able to duplicate it?
That's the one thing, John, is being able to duplicate it.
At least three weeks in a row. I want to

(23:23):
see a trend two weeks, not a trend three weeks.
That's a trend.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
It's like building a habit, right, you have to like
bad habits. To get a good habit, you have to
do it for a couple of weeks and then a
couple more weeks and then it just become second nature exactly.
How about Kirk cousins former team, the Vikings. They're five
and zero. They went across the pond, as they say,
and they beat the Jets. And of course this was
the the Rogers game that we were just talking about

(23:50):
a little while ago. He threw three picks. He threw
two picks in the first quarter for the first time
in his career. One of them was a pick six.
And we've already kind of talked about the Rogers angle
the Jets angle a little bit here, But what about
the Vikings Randall, they didn't even get their best game
from Sam Darnold. He was fourteen of thirty one, didn't
throw a touchdown, only had a pick. They only had

(24:10):
their leading rusher at thirty yards. So what do you
think of this Vikings team their ability to win games
in a variety of ways so far. Do you think
they're legit or do you think it's still too early
to say, or do you think it's just been a
matter of lucky circumstances that they're five and zero.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
I mean, depends how you want to define lucky circumstances. Right, Like,
they've played some serious teams. You go over to London,
you picked off Aaron Rodgers three times. Your defense rose
up there. The offense didn't play terribly well. Okay, but
your defense played great the other games. Your offense has
been playing pretty stout. But I know for certain the

(24:48):
Vikings john are serious, at least on the defensive side.
At least on the defensive side. I know they are
locked down. Yeah, okay, Flores, we've known this, We've seen
this him on the defensive side.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Is he's a.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Beast, absolute beast. I kind of got this like banana
split in between where the defense and the offense are
not both juggernauts He's controlling that juggernaut of the defense,
and I think that's all it needs to be. I
think if Sam Darnald can just stay decent, he doesn't
need to be great.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
He just needs to be decent. Yeah, turn the ball
over and they're gonna win.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
I agree. And that's the thing is he did turn
the ball over in this game. He didn't throw for
a lot of yards. They still found a way to
beat the Jets, who again we're not saying that the
third necessarily the world beaters, but you said it. They
did beat some good teams here.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
You know.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
They beat the Giants by twenty two points. We didn't
think the Giants are very good. But the Giants have
now won a couple of big games. They beat the
Niners at home, They beat the Textans at home. They
went on the road to beat the Packers in Week four,
which obviously they led by a lot in that game.
Almost what the Packers come back, but they did ultimately
hold them off. Big test this week for the Vikings.
They'll play the Lions. Actually not this week, they have

(26:07):
a bye. This week. Coming out of their bye, they'll
play the Lions. So that could be a very interesting
game to keep an eye on see how they're faring
against another team in their division who they feel is
going to be maybe made their main competitor to win
the division, and it could be a big swing game
depending on how the Lions doing. Lions are coming off
of by themselves they just had In Week five, the

(26:28):
Ravens and Bengals played a really good game. This game
ended up going to overtime. The Ravens were the team
that pulled off the comeback this time they've been down.
They were down by ten with just a undred nine
minutes to go, end up getting a late touchdown for
Likely and then a late field goal to tie things
and then a field goal in overtime from Tucker to
ultimately win the game. So, I mean this is two

(26:50):
Juggernauts in the AFC North. I guess you could call it,
even though the Bengals are one and four now, but
ultimately the Ravens, who've actually had a little bit of
trouble the end of the games this year, Randall, they
found a way to hold on and win this one
after coming back.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
They they shouldn't have won this game, John, it should
have been Cincinnati taking home the cake. I mean, you
got Joe Burrow leading the NFL QBR passing yards, touchdowns. Okay,
he's he's destroying the competition. Okay, I I think I

(27:28):
think after this week it became can we can we
get a fact check?

Speaker 2 (27:32):
You check, chick check perfect season.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
So we want to be making sure we get our
facts exactly.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Hold me accountable. But Cincinnati had a chance here to
do something great. Overtime comes, they handed the ball off
three times and elected to kick a long field goal.
Now I get Evan McPherson's a stud fifty yarders.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Dudes have been kicking them easy this year.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
But why are you taking the ball out of a
guy's hands that has had a phenomenal games right now?

Speaker 1 (28:07):
And Joe Burrow is sixth.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Oh, maybe it wasn't pass it was passing touchdowns. He
was first in passing rating. I think he's at a
one thirteen. He's first in a couple categories. Okay, I'm sorry,
passing guards.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
You have to apologize.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
I was trying to prove a point. You made me
out to be a fool. John.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
Joe Burrow leads the league with twelve touchdown passes. There
you go.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
At least we got one thing right that's all that matters,
I guess. But regardless, you run the ball three times,
Jamar Chase, Joe Burrow, two best players on the field.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
You took the ball out of their hands. Why why.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
They're gonna have a lot of work to do to
get back into this thing. But lucky for them, Ravens
don't look too hot. Pittsburgh's in a slump. We'll be
talking about the Browns a little bit. So theoretically this
division could be anybody's too go on a little winning streak.
If Joe Burrow continues to ball out.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Yeah, well, they need to get some wins and quick
because they're one and four. Speaking of one in four,
and now's a good time to probably talk about the Rams,
you know, because of the Patriots are also one and four.
We already talked about them. The Rams fell to the Packers.
Tough game again. They are going to struggle until they
get a healthy offense, and unfortunately it might be too little,

(29:34):
too late once they do. They have a bye week
right now, Randall, but I am hoping that after the
bye week, Cooper Cup is back, Maybe some of the
linemen that are hurt are back, and hopefully we can
win a few games in a row. If you remember
last year, which you probably don't remember this, but the Rams,
I believe they were three and six with eight games

(29:55):
to go, and they won seven of their last eight
to go ten and six. I'm not our ten and seven,
so it's not impossible for them to still make a run.
But right now, unfortunately, things are not going great for
the Rams.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Now.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
The good news for them is that they have to buy,
like I said, and then they do have a couple
more home games after just being at home, so they've
basically got a month straight where they're at home. Hopefully
they can get healthy. Their next game will be against
the Raiders. But yeah, I'm I'm just kind of trying
to figure out. You know, last week, I think I
came on here and said that the Rams season was over.
It probably is over, but I'm trying to give myself

(30:31):
some level of optimism.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Gon Shohnoh probably probably come on, man, it's over. Man,
thing is long gone.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
Well, then you know what we're doing next week? You
and I are both going to declare the team's bandwagons
that we're jumping on next week.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Oh don I like that. I love when we add
little little things like this. Oh, this is so exciting.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah, a little wrinkle, a little teas for the fans.
Tune in next week to find out who Randa and
I are putting our support behind. It is election season,
so we will both we will both endorse a new
team to win this season since our teams both suck. Yeah,
So I don't have anything else to say about that,
because that's that. Jaguars got their first win and must win.

(31:24):
They beat the Colts. Joe Flacco balled out again for
the Colts, but Trevor Lawrence did find a way to
win a game. They finally get one on the board.
Their season is probably over too, but what can you do?
But Jayden Daniels, Let's talk about Jade Daniels for a second,
because you just brought this up a moment ago. The Browns.
The Browns are the other half of this equation, but
Jade and Daniels, I mean, this kid is a ton

(31:46):
of fun to watch. He did throw a pick in
this game. I'm not saying he's perfect, but eighty two
more rushing yards. He had another passing touchdown, another two
thirty through the air, and it just seems like he's
already He's kind of like this year's version of c. J.
Stroud where he comes in, he starts right away and
it just seems like things are destined to go good

(32:06):
for them. So how are you feeling right now about
jayde and Daniels? Because Randall, if I'm not mistaken, I
believe you picked the Commanders to win the NFC East.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
You did.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
I'm looking at it right now.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
I did, John, And you know what we should do, John,
We're gonna have to go back look at preseason odds
and say, Okay, if we put one hundred dollars on
every single team to win the division at the end
of the year, John, who would have the most money?

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Lean to you in the analytics department to get that.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
Due I'll do.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
However, I do know they were the highest odd team
to win the division at Do you remember, John?

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (32:44):
I do.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
It was like plus twenty was it that? Yeah? I
thought it was twenty two hundred, but yeah, it might
have been.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Maybe it was that.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
I know, I know it was at least plus one thousand, Okay,
So I'm very happy with myself.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
I called it.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
I gave you an analytical response to it too, saying, well,
you know.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
I mean I'm just setting you up right here, Randall,
because you did pick the Browns to win the AFC North.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
They still could if there's a okay, I mean.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Ye, well that's not happening. They have. The Browns have
two hundred and forty million reasons why they won't change quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Yeah, but they'll they'll have a lot more winning reasons too.
And I really believe that they would sit. They would
sit to Sean and start Jamis. If they want to win,
you have to. There comes a point, John, There comes
a point in time and everybody's tenure where hey, I

(33:46):
know I'm paying this guy the big bucks, but I'm
not winning. I have to go to what's gonna win
me games? And know what answer that was? Look at
the forty nine ers and brock Purty.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
You can't spell Winston without win.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
I mean, I feel I'm motivated to play for that guy.
I love him. He's eating W's like he's eating the
crab legs.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Yeah, he's great. Okay, I remember that when he stole
those crab legs. Okay. The Bears blew out the Panthers
and the the Kayla Williams Bowl not worth talking about. Really.
The Broncos blew out the Raiders. How about bone Nicks?
Are you impressed by this kid? Because he's kind of
quietly been the second best rookie and it's not even close.

(34:33):
I mean, there's only been a handful that have played,
and obviously now we'll see Drake May. But what have
you thought about bone Nicks.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
I got a little slow start to him, right, Obviously
he's just trying to get his feet wet in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
But hey, you know, the.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Turnovers haven't been there the last two weeks, so that's
so sorry. Last three weeks for him, had a great,
phenomenal passer rated It was definitely his best game of
his career so far. It was the first time that
he didn't throw He threw multiple touchdowns, no interceptions, So
I mean he's starting to come along. But again against Vegas.

(35:09):
Is it the the best team to go against? Who knows,
But you know what, it's a good show in Jean mm.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Hmm, Yeah, I agree. I mean, he's you know, he's
been great to uh to see kind of get better
each week, and I don't think it happens that easily
a lot of times. But I do think he's got
a great coaching situation there with Sean Payton, and I
think that he's going to succeed ultimately, whether it be
you know, playoff Berth this year, I don't know if
that's possible. But they're three and two kind of quietly,

(35:38):
and they've put together a nice little run here in
the early part of the season, you know. And do
you have bo Jangles down there in Florida?

Speaker 2 (35:48):
I do not have bow Jangles down here.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Have you heard? You've heard of the fast food restaurant
bo Jangles, though.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Of course I have.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Okay, Well, their slogan is It's bow Time, and every
time I see bo Nix's name, I just think it's
bow time and I want bo Jangles. But that's besides
the point. The other half of this equation here is
the Raiders. Randall, they lose Patrick Surtan picked off Gardner
Minshew twice, and now Minshew was gonna get benched going

(36:15):
into next week for Aidan O'Connell, which we've seen Aidan
O'Connell before. But this Raiders team is kind of down
bad right now. DeVante Adams has been out, he's hurt,
he's requesting trades, all this other stuff. They don't really
have a healthy offense, or I mean a good offense
outside of Davante when they're not healthy. The running back

(36:36):
situation is kind of a mess right now. I mean
your boy, I know, Gardner Minshew's your boy. Do you
think this kind of falls on him some of the
failures of the Raiders right now?

Speaker 2 (36:46):
It does?

Speaker 3 (36:47):
But again, has DeVante Adams been out there the last
couple of weeks?

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Now? He hasn't.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Right, he's quit on the team. He's done, he's long gone.
He's a bomb, he's a loser. He can't stick to
this decisions.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Damn he's made.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
Yeah, harsh it is, but it's the reality, John, it's
the reality.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
He wants out of there. Why do you want out
of there? Oh? Because we suck? Well, maybe you suck, Okay,
Like it's the truth. I speak the truth, John, Yeah,
I know.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
I know he's putting he's putting bad words and names
on my man, Gardner Minshew.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
He got him benched.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Yeah well he uh. Minshew might have another chance at
some point, but O'Connell right now is gonna get the chance.
He was underwhelming last year, but he did play okay
at times, So we'll see if this does anything to
spark the Raiders. The Cardinals had a pretty big comeback
against the forty nine Ers here. The forty nine Ers
were leading twenty three to ten in the at halftime,

(37:52):
uh and then it was all Cardinals in the second half.
They outscored the forty nine ers fourteen to nothing, a
field goal, a touchdown, and then a field goal with
a minute and a half to go to take a lead. Ultimately,
for good, perty did throw two picks in this game,
and the forty nine Ers ultimately do not pull off
the win. This Cardinals team is kind of kind of sneaky.

(38:13):
They're two and three, and honestly, I'm kind of glad
they did come back. This is the only reason I
could say that the Rams season might not be over,
because technically right now is it currently since the Rams
are only one game back of first place in the
NFC West after the Seahawks lost and the forty nine
Ers lose. But I mean, were you surprised that the
Cardinals are able to pull this off because the forty

(38:34):
nine ers just haven't looked as crisp as they did
last year or in the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
That's tough.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
I mean, your your main running back, CMC is he's
out hurt right now. So if any forty nine Ers
fans want to donate a couple of Killy's ten minutes
to the man, I'm sure he'll take him right now.
But they I'm not worried about them at all. To
be honest with you, John, I'm not worried at all.

(39:01):
I think they're gonna be doing just fine. Come down
the stretch. Brought Party is a great quarterback, I think,
and he's gonna leave them to the victory. The only
problem is the last couple of losses, they were up
double digits in the fourth in the second half. Gotta
put those away.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
Yeah, I agree that you're not wrong. They do have
to find a way to put those away. I also
just misspoke a moment ago into the Seahawks are also
two and three. The Seahawks are three and two, and
it was a big loss because they go to three
and two instead of four and one, so the Giants.
The Giants become the second team to beat them this season,
with the other one being the Lions a week ago.

(39:40):
So the Seahawks started three and oh they lose two
straight games. This may be the most shocking result of
the week if you're you know, if you're looking at
it from the outside looking in, I mean, I thought
the Seahawks were gonna roll the Giants in this spot.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Randall, Yeah, you're not the only one. John, I was shocked,
absolutely shocked at this result. I mean, you block a
field goal, take it back for a touchdown. I'm not
sure if you saw that.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Yeah, at the end of the game, I think that was. Yeah,
that's what clinched it, because the Seahawks were gonna kick
a field goal to what try to go up and
they were trying to go up twenty three to twenty two.
Are they trying to take the lead. I think they
were trying to. Yeah, they were trying to tie the game. Maybe,
I don't remember what it was exactly, but then they
returned this and that's what ends it.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah, it's maybe Daniel Jones is starting to become a
quarterback in the NFL, and he did that without his
best wide receiver in Marleak Neighbors.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
Yeah, okay, become really good as Wandell Robinson has been really.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Good, John, Yeah, sneaky good, consistent. He was their second
round pick.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Last year, Yes, he was, and I know Darius Slayton
actually had a better line than him in this game.
Actually a few guys did. But Wandell Robinson had a
touchdown this game, and then last week I think he
had twelve thirteen catches. I mean, he's been really sneaky good.
And if they can have a legit passing attack because
of him and Slayton and then hopefully a healthy Molik Neighbors,

(41:11):
then Danda Jones really has no excuse. He did play
really well in this game, two fifty plus with two touchdowns.
You know, he was pretty efficient. So you only if
you're a Giants fan, you hope this is what you
get because you know, he's on that rare situation where
he's on a forty million dollar contract. He's probably not
going to be back next year unless they do something
absurdly good because there's just no incentive to sign him

(41:32):
again for the Giants to that much money. But we'll see.
I mean, if he plays well and maybe he doesn't
end up demanding as much of a contract, maybe he's
there in the long run. And in the last couple
of games of the weekend, it had Sunday Night Football
with the Cowboys beating the Steelers with a four yard
touchdown pass with twenty seconds to go in this game.

(41:54):
This was a weird game. It got delayed from the
onset because of lightning in the area, so it didn't
kick off till close to ten PM. I didn't end
up seeing a lot of it because I was getting
back from a late weekend or a long weekend, but
I did watch them the highlights the next day, and
ultimately what it came down to for me is that
the Steelers offense, while they've been okay at times with
justin fields, they're just lacking something. You know, the quarterback

(42:18):
they can put them over the top with his arm talent,
I think is the biggest thing. I'm not saying that
Russell Wilson's that guy. I know you're not the biggest
Steelers guy here, Randall. They've lost the last two now
to get to three and two. Cowboys are three and two.
Which of these two three and two teams do you
think is better?

Speaker 3 (42:36):
I gotta go with the Cowboys, right, I mean I
The Steelers defense is fantastic, don't get me wrong, fantastic. However,
as fantastic as they played, their offense just not score
points for them.

Speaker 2 (42:53):
No matter who they're playing. Yeah, it might be time
you got to go to Russell Wilson. Now, you guys
got lucky.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
Steeler fans got lucky John at a three and oh start.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
They got lucky.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
You think it was luck, and you want to know
why it was luck. You got lucky that Kirk Cousins
was just coming off an injury okay in the first
couple of games and learning how to walk again.

Speaker 1 (43:21):
Okay, okay, bo Nicks and they played justin justin what's
his name, Herbert, who I don't think was completely healthy, right, So.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
Correct, So you got lucky with three games, and hey,
they were on your schedule. You don't control who you play.
You won those games. You won the game you needed
to win. But you're gonna be going into a brutal
stretch here. I don't think that they're gonna be able
to handle it.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
Yeah, they do kind of. I mean, they have the
Raiders this week, so that's a winnable game for them,
the Jets, the Giants, I mean, they have some winnable
games upcoming. But yeah, we'll see how the Steelers fare.
They always seem to be around five. I would agree
with you, I think, right now the Cowboys the better
team rough patch of a couple of weeks, but I
would give them the upper hand. Uh. And then you know,
your favorite guy to talk about is Patrick Mahomes. And

(44:10):
I think that we had a pretty spirited text debate
yesterday in preparation for the show Randall when we were
talking about this, because I am very much of the
belief that the five and oh Kansas City Chiefs are
the most dangerous team in football right now, because quite simply,
they're fine without Patrick Mahomes having.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
Nearly to his ability stop.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
They're five and six touchdowns and.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
Six picks, so far back behind my head right now.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
Mahomes is sucking exactly.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
And there you're gonna make the point for me. No,
the point I'm making, John, the point I'm making.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Be careful because if you don't do it well, you're
gonna make my point.

Speaker 3 (44:58):
The point is John, he is stunk, okay, and they've
gotten so lucky with the other team making the mistakes.
Lamar Jackson going down on a game winning drive, what
does he do miss is a wide open guy for
the game winning touch. Joe Burrow should have won that game. Okay,

(45:21):
he messes up the game winning drive. All these teams
have had chances to destroy Kansas City, and they should have.
The only Saints Derek Carr leaves the game, he gets blessed.
I'm telling you, John, one and done. The Holmes is done,
It's done. The goat debate is gonna be done.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
All right. Well, he's off.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
A cliff, Okay, Max Kellerman, I think that some of
what you say, maybe you can give a little bit
of credence to. But I think what I'm trying to
tell you is that you're making my point for me.
If you want to call it luck, that might be
a little bit of a strong word for me to use.
But they've won these games and Patrick Mahomes has been

(46:07):
a bottom ten in the league starting quarterbacks so far.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
And if he continues to do that, John, well what
he continues to do that and ultimately they won't win anything.

Speaker 1 (46:16):
But guess what happened last year. Guess what happened last year.
Guess what happened last year? The guy do not have
a great season, right, He didn't have the best year
according to all his standards, and you know he ends
up throwing twenty seven touchdowns with fourteen picks. It's a
career rind picks for him and a career low in
touchdowns compared to only twenty nineteen when he threw twenty

(46:36):
six and five. Okay, so he didn't have a good
year by his standards, But then what did he do?
He showed up in the playoffs and they win the
Super Bowl again. So all I'm saying is that this
team is five and oh right now, and they have
a guy who is capable of doing a lot of
things really well that has not done those things really
well yet. So if he gets going, look out because

(46:58):
this team's five and oh without him and playing well,
and that's a real fear for I think other AFC
teams right now.

Speaker 3 (47:05):
I'm not fearful. How did how did Philly start out
last year?

Speaker 1 (47:08):
Yeah? Well, you know what that you made You made
that point. You made that point to me in text
mess yesterday. But Philly doesn't have the proven track record
that Kansas City does. Philly doesn't win the Super Bowl
every year, So I don't know. That's all I can say.
Will agree to disagree for now, But they once Mahomes
starts playing well, do not be surprised if the Chiefs
are the best team in the League.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
Again, Mahomes has to start playing.

Speaker 1 (47:32):
Well, who would you rather be?

Speaker 2 (47:33):
Right now?

Speaker 1 (47:33):
The Chiefs are the Vikings at.

Speaker 2 (47:35):
Five O Vikings all day, Vikings all day.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
With you a hater. I knew that you'd say that.

Speaker 3 (47:42):
No no, no, no, no no no. That defense is
so much more solid with the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
The offense is looking pure.

Speaker 3 (47:51):
You've got a true number one ride receiver out there,
and Justin and Jefferson. Give me Minnesota. That's the John.
I don't need to wait till next week. Give me
the Vikings now, I'm I'm raising the flag.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
John, is this.

Speaker 1 (48:06):
Early hard lock alert?

Speaker 2 (48:08):
I'm blowing in the hole.

Speaker 1 (48:13):
I got news for you. The Vikings are not playing
this week.

Speaker 2 (48:17):
I know I'm by god Man. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
Uh all right, Well, I think that does it for
our recap of week five. So I guess it's time
to move into Guess that Spread.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
It's time to play Guess that.

Speaker 1 (48:38):
Spread. Yes, it's time for Guess that's spread, where Randall
and I will take turns trying to get each other
to guess the spreads of certain players player prop lines.
So let's do it. Randall, last week, I don't believe
either one of us hit or no, sorry, I think
one of us hit on one each. Uh you know,

(49:00):
throughout the year, we've hit on one here or there.
Neither one of us hasn't exactly yet this year after
you had a couple of them last year. Uh So
let's jump into this, shall we.

Speaker 3 (49:09):
Let's rip it, John, and I'll rip it for you.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
Give me.

Speaker 3 (49:16):
The man the Myth making his NFL starting debut.

Speaker 1 (49:26):
If you didn't do it to me, I was gonna
do it to you. So you're just beating You're beating
me to the punch here.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
It's a class AA. Does that mean you saw it?

Speaker 1 (49:33):
No, I have not. I don't click on it until
after I hear you go first because I don't want to.
I don't want to have any cross contamination here. But
I knew you were gonna try to maybe beat me
to the punch here, which is hilarious that you did.
This line cannot be very high. I can't imagine it
can be very high. I think you gave me percent
or I gave you percent one of these other weeks.

(49:55):
I'm trying to remember what that was around. I'm gonna
say his opening line for his first NFL start with
the way the Patriots offense is played, is going to
be one seven eight and a half.

Speaker 3 (50:12):
That's not pad, John, you were talking about exactly, is right? Yeah,
you're nowhere close one hundred and fifty and a half.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
I thought you were gonna tell me I had an
exacty for a second. That is way lower than I
was anticipating it was.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
Yep, Oh god, that's funny.

Speaker 1 (50:33):
All right. I want you to give me the over
under for passing yards for Deshaun Watson. They're playing at
the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
That man's on booty cheek. Watch, John, I mean he is.

Speaker 1 (50:48):
Watch he's I think he's the reigning booty cheek player
of the week.

Speaker 2 (50:53):
He's going to be the player of the year for
the boot cheek player of the Year. John.

Speaker 1 (50:57):
At this first team all booty.

Speaker 3 (50:58):
Cheek, give be uh two twenty one and a half.

Speaker 2 (51:03):
John, that's not bad.

Speaker 1 (51:06):
You're only off by the same number I was off
by basically, uh one ninety two and a half.

Speaker 3 (51:12):
Wow, they're not even giving him two one hundred, not anymore. No,
it's a different error we're living in, John, different quarterback era.

Speaker 2 (51:24):
Yep, all right, John, So let's go with running backs now.
I'm gonna give you.

Speaker 3 (51:33):
He's back now, Kenneth Walker, San Franas, Seattle.

Speaker 1 (51:37):
This is the Thursday night game, So God, if you
have my toes here, Kenny Walker. I'm a big Kenny
Walker fan. I don't know if he likes being called Kenny,
but I call him Kenny when I'm watching the games.
He was pretty involved last week, more so than Sharbonne.
I mean Sharbone I think was involved, but not a lot.

(51:58):
I'm gonna say Walker's number is hitting some way around
sixty something. I'm gonna say sixty two and a half.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
Ding ding ding four point five?

Speaker 3 (52:07):
John, Great going there, Great going sixty four and a half.

Speaker 1 (52:13):
Okay, good for me. I'm right right on the money
with that one, basically. So I'm on the board here, Randal. Yeah,
you have some pressure to kind of match me here.

Speaker 2 (52:22):
No pressure. John is just doing what I do best,
all right.

Speaker 1 (52:26):
Well, in that case, I want you to tell me
the rushing yard total four Derrick Henry in the Ravens
and Washington Commanders game that's taking place in Baltimore, though
it's basically a home game for both teams.

Speaker 2 (52:42):
Yeah, he's been having a decent season so far. John.
By decent, I mean exploding.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
This dude has been letting out some mega runs of
sixty plus yards. Give me Dereck Henry John at seventy
eight and a half.

Speaker 1 (52:58):
Yards, Randall, you are in the money, my man. Eighty
one and a half.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
I told you I don't fret. John, I don't told
you I don't fret.

Speaker 1 (53:10):
You put the ball right back in my court, right
back to serve returned as.

Speaker 3 (53:14):
They say, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. All right, John, it is
time for receiving yards and and go with.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
Dalton kin Kine for the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets.

Speaker 1 (53:36):
You slimy bastard. Let's see here, Dalton against that Jets
d This number is not gonna be as low as
I would want to think, but it's not gonna be
very high either. I'm getting there's like a number that's
just like screaming out at me right now. And I

(53:56):
think if I have to listen to my conscience and
just say it, forty eight and.

Speaker 3 (54:04):
A half, oh, John, thirty eight and a half.

Speaker 2 (54:10):
Oh, you were close, you're close. You said the four.
I'm like, is he gonna do it? Is he gonna
do it? And he didn't do it.

Speaker 1 (54:17):
But that's all right, all right, well I gotta pick
a good one then to try to get you. Now,
so let's see. Let's see here, let's see. Okay, I
got the guy. Um, actually no, I don't let me see. Yeah,
do to do to do? Okay, I got the guy.
I know who I want to give you. I'm gonna

(54:40):
go right back to your U to your team here. Okay.
Actually I don't see any lines for the Patriots guys
right now, but I'll stick with that game Patriots and Texans. Uh,
Nico Collins is now hurt. So the number one receiver
is Steph Diggs. I want you to tell me what
Stefan Diggs's number for receiving yards is for this week.

Speaker 3 (55:00):
He's going to be at sixty nine and a half yards, John,
for the win.

Speaker 1 (55:07):
Sixty nine and a half yards is wrong, sixty three
and a half, one outside the range of winning.

Speaker 2 (55:22):
Wow, that's hard that.

Speaker 1 (55:23):
Depending on what book you're looking at, you might have
even won. But not today leather egg, where we both
go one for.

Speaker 3 (55:32):
Three, one for two, John, or one and two one
four three? Yeah, depending how you're like.

Speaker 1 (55:39):
Yeah, baseball season still too, so I have one for three.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
You're right, you're right. I like that. That does it? Four?

Speaker 1 (55:46):
Guess that said? All right, good, good job Randall. Okay,
so then we can move right along here into hard locks.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
Locks.

Speaker 1 (56:05):
All right, so last week in hard locks, Randall had
his first completely losing week. Now, he did push in
one of the games. However, you were oh too and
ones the first time you didn't put up a win
in a week. I, on the other hand, was what
was my record? One and two, which means I still
have not had a week where I've been over five hundred.

(56:27):
I have four to one in two weeks in hard locks,
and I went one to one and one during week two,
so I'm still looking for a winning week. However, technically
I did beat Randal this week in our hard lock picks,
so I've got that going for me. But that being said,
it's time to jump into them. And because I've won
this week, does that mean I have to go first?

Speaker 2 (56:48):
Now? It does? John, Okay, So for the.

Speaker 1 (56:52):
First time this year, the tea box is mine. Uh.
And that being said, the first game I'm going to
take is going to be to Do to Do. I'm
going to pick one near and dear to the heart here. Uh,
and that's gonna be the forty nine Ers and Seahawks.
I'm gonna take the forty nine Ers minus three and

(57:12):
a half. This is the Thursday night game. They're playing
in Seattle. The Seahawks have lost two straight games. Maybe
they try to bring the energy. Maybe things are just
wild there in Seattle. But I think the forty nine
Ers are gonna come out and have to make a
statement uh in this game, and I think they'll be
able to do so. I think they'll figure things out offensively,
and I just don't think the Seahawks are as good
as they played the first three weeks. So I'm willing

(57:33):
to take the roll of dice with the forty nine
Ers minus three and a half.

Speaker 3 (57:37):
Oh I like that, John, minus three point five on
the road. That's gonna be interesting. Okay, Now for my
first hard lock.

Speaker 2 (57:47):
John, give me a dog alert.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
I'm gonna take Arizona at Green Bay plus five.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
Like you said, Arizona's been playing well.

Speaker 3 (58:00):
I know they have a losing wrecker, but I still
think that Arizona is gonna shine. Marvin Harrison Junior didn't
have the best game last week. He's gonna bounce back here.
But give me Arizona plus five.

Speaker 1 (58:13):
Gotta stick with the dogs. I like it, my man,
I like it. You're a dog walker, so you gotta
be the dog. I've gotta take the dog. I'm going
to I don't even know what I'm saying right now.
Don't listen to me. For my next pick, I'm going
to also sound the dog alarm. I'm gonna go with
the Colts plus two and a half. They're playing at

(58:36):
the Titans here, and quite frankly, I don't know if
Anthony richards is coming back or not, but I like
them with Richardson, I like them with Flacco. I think
the Titans are booty cheeks and I think that right now.
The Colts are underdogs in this game, and maybe they
haven't believed the most consistent this year, but if they
get Flacco to do what he's been doing, or Richardson

(58:57):
comes back, and maybe Jonathan Taylor too, I like the
Colts in this game. It also looks like they're gonna
be without Michael Pittman. Uh, But you know what, I
don't care. I'm still rolling with the Colts. Give me
the Colts plus two and a half here.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
I love it. John. We were talking smack about him
earlier said they need to make a quarterback change.

Speaker 3 (59:15):
I'm hoping they will give me Pittsburgh minus three against Vegas. Wow, Okay,
with Vegas making the quarterback change, I think this is
the time. The Steelers defense is absolutely disgusting. They're gonna
reac havoc on Aiden O'Connell. So give me pitt minus three.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
I like that, man. You're you're you're interesting because you
say stuff and then you go back completely on what
you're saying. Not that you said that the Raiders are
gonna win, but you just don't like the Steelers. Now
all of a sudden, you're picking them. So gotta know
when to play it.

Speaker 2 (59:47):
You know, it's all about strategy, John, I'm picking.

Speaker 1 (59:51):
A third straight road team here. I'm gonna go with
the Falcons minus six at the Panthers. The Panthers, you know,
they did have a little bit of a bright spot
when Dalton took over against the Raiders. He looked a
little bit better. Maybe against who is it the Bengals
that he played in the next week. This week, they
didn't look very good at all. I'm gonna take the

(01:00:14):
Falcons in this one. Wait, the Panthers beat the Bengals, right,
with Dalton, and then he looked a little bit worse
against the Raiders. That what it was, or the Bears,
I know what it was.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
Yeah, he did not beat the Panthers, right.

Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
Right, Yeah, Okay, So anyway, I'm going to take the
Falcons here in this one minus six because I just
don't think the Panthers are trending in a good way
and I think the Falcons are starting to play a
lot better Kirk Cousins specifically coming off this big game
against the Bucks. Give me the Falcons minus six, Randall, I.

Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
Like it, John, I'm gonna go with the team that's
on the rise, with the number one quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
Give me Cincinnati minus three on the road at New York.
I get it.

Speaker 3 (01:00:59):
New York's been playing well, but it's still Danny Dimes. John,
it's still Danny Dimes. He stinks. So I'll take Cincy
minus three and a half on the road.

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
So I'm going to say I want to.

Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
Say I see three and a half in multiple places here,
So I'm glad you amended that. Okay, Well that doesn't
for hard locks, then hard locks? All right, Well, there's
only one thing left to do, Randall, we've made our picks.
We've talked about the last week we played guests that spread.

(01:01:31):
So tell me, my friend, what is left for us
to do?

Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
Here?

Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
John, it is time to play the game of the day,
which is the word of the day.

Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
Okay, John, I get a word or phrase, you guess it?
What is.

Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
All right? So I'm going for an unprecedented fourth in
a row here. You got me the first couple of
weeks coming into the season, and then the one from
week one going into week two. However, I've won the
last three and I'm looking for a fourth straight, and
I'm feeling pretty good. Randal, I gotta tell you, I'm
feeling pretty good. I know you don't want to hear that,
but you drop two things on me pretty early in

(01:02:13):
this show that I thought could be considered. So you
know you used to ask me for the word bank.
I'm gonna give you the word bank.

Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
The first one.

Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
The first one I've already decided I don't think is it.
So the first one I'm gonna say here is six
feet under, which you said in reference to Drake May
when you were talking about him being six feet under
because of how bad the line is, but you did
say something else early on, and I think you know that.
I know now banana split is the word of the day.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
That your final answer, Tom, it sure is. Let's find out, John,
is a complete banana split between the offense.

Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
Oh man, oh man, I am on fire right now.
As soon as I heard it. As soon as I
heard it, I knew I had it, So you know
I could have I could have taken it out of
your misery right there and just told you. I feel
like I could do I feel like I should do

(01:03:22):
that in the future if I know it right away,
or I think I know it right away and just
go for broke and try to say it right then and.

Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
There, just like that. Embarrassed me.

Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
John, I've gotten a lot better at trying to pay
attention to your your bs while I'm actually thinking too.

Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
So it was so much more fun when you didn't
even know I was doing this, and I would just
get you to say random words and repeat them back
to me.

Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
Oh, those were the good, good old days for you. Huh.

Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
It was.

Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
Well, unfortunately, the good old days are goodbye for you.
So four straight for me. That's a great way to
go into the end of this episode. Randall, It's you know,
week six already. I feel like this happens every year,
where we turn around all of a sudden. Most of
the season, not most of it at the point, but
a lot of the season is gone. What's one thing

(01:04:18):
I'm putting you right on the spot here, one thing
that you're surprised about through five weeks of the season.

Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
I am kind of surprised that Baker's steak consistent. Sam
Donald's steak pretty consistent, right Like, I'm surprised though, and
I am surprised at helps played, you know, So.

Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
It is it is a couple things.

Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
It Yeah, it is a couple things that I am
surprised about. But we'll see if they continue as surprise
throughout the whole season.

Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
Yeah, I would say that. I think my biggest surprise
is j Daniels for sure. So that's all.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Yeah, I want to say I'd be surprised, but I
did take them at plus one thousand, John just saying, yeah, well.

Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
You're it's easy to say that. Now. Remind everybody again,
I know you did take him, but it's easy for
you to point it out now again. All right, Randal, Well,
do you have anything else that we didn't get a
chance to talk about that you want to talk about tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
As set of The Patriots starring Drake May, they need
to bring back Bailey Zappy and give that man a
shot or sign Mike White. One of those guys could
lead the Patriots to the Promised Land.

Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
And I really think it could be Bailey z Appy.
That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 1 (01:05:36):
Drake May is next, so we'll see if he is
the answer. Until then, Randall, until next time, thank you
all for listening. Randall, you can take us away with.

Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
The song.

Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
Goodbye, Goodbye, good friends, goodbye.

Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
We're almost done with the season. Not really.

Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
It's here, it's there, and it's everywhere.

Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
Every night there's buff Ball, the Watch, buff Ball, the Watch.

Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
So long, Friends, I'm suddenly feeling like a man Askan.
