August twenty first, my Friday. So very glad you are
joining me today. You know, I was just reading something
I want to share with you. And I know that
you know it. I know that you've heard it before,
but I think we should be reminded of it today.
It's just a paragraph. It's a pretty powerful paragraph, but

it's just a paragraph. And I want to ask you
if you think that were following because I touched on
this yesterday, and I want to ask you if you
think that we're actually following this. Okay, we hold these
truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.

(02:15):
Granted it says men, but you get the gist now,
even just that now, we know our founders in a
way didn't believe that because they felt that blacks are
one to fifth people and they own slaves. So if
all men were created equal, their slave would be their
equal and wouldn't be their slave. I mentioned slaves today

because Donald Trump, in his sweep of the museums, has
said that he wants the Smithsonian and other national museums
to downplay slavery because they make it seem too bad. Now,
these are his words. His words today was that we
present slavery as too bad, you know, and you know

(03:02):
it was really horrible. So he's saying, hey, you know
what we're presenting it just too bad. It's too bad.
That's like saying, you know, hey, the Holocaust wasn't that bad.
We didn't kill every Jew, you know it was you know,
the nuclear bombs going off in Hiroshima and Nagasaki weren't

(03:24):
that bad. You know, we gave them some warning, you know,
o Maha Beach. That wasn't so terrible. Some soldiers made
it through the Black plague had killed millions, but didn't
kill everybody. It's not all that bad. I mean, come on,
people with slavery really that bad. That's what he said today.

(03:50):
He said he wants museums to stop focusing on how
bad slavery was. That's that's something. We hold these truths
to be self evident, that all men are created equal,
that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights,
meaning you can't dispute these rights. Life, liberty, and the

pursuit of happiness. And I think a lot about those
life now, life entails a lot of things, housing, food,
medical care, raising your children, being able to feed them.
So life liberty. I don't know if you know what
the word liberty means, but it literally means to live

(04:38):
free from the oppression of someone else's views. That's what
liberty means. And the pursuit of happiness doesn't say you're
going to get it, but it says you are allowed
to pursue it. Our gays, our women are blacks. You know,

(04:59):
slavery was that to secure these rights. Governments are instituted
amongst men, deriving their powers from the consent of the governed?
Are we doing that today? Is government deriving its powers
from the consent of the governed or from the billionaires?

(05:20):
That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends,
it is the right of the people to alter or
abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation
on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form
as to them shall seem most likely to affect their

(05:42):
safety and their happiness. Do you think this current administration
is about your safety and your happiness? Prudence indeed will
dictate that governments long established should not be changed for
light or transient causes. And accordingly, all its experience have
shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils

(06:05):
are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms
to which they are accustomed, in other words, the Trump era,
that we will live under evil instead of abolish it,
we will put up with it instead of starting over. Wow,

(06:27):
these were smart guys. But when a long train of
abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a
design to reduce them under absolute despotism, I would say
he's an absolute despot, wouldn't you. It is their right,
it is their duty, to their duty, their duty to

(06:52):
throw off such government and to provide new guards for
their future security. You know, No, that's that's so powerful.
Just that paragraph. That was the paragraph that started our
separation from the only government we had known, King George

and the British government. And I wonder did the founders
have more courage than we do? I mean, it would
appear so. Did the founders value their life, their liberty,
and their pursuit of happiness more than we value ours?

It would appear so. Did they have more courage that
our current Congress, or than three hundred million people or
even two hundred and fifty million people who did not
vote for Donald Trump? Yeah? They did? And so I

that And you know, I say to myself, are we
even deserving of the government and the country they laid
out for us two hundred and forty nine years ago.
Do we even deserve this document if we're going to
ignore it, You know, it's amazing. We will cling to

(08:25):
ancient tones and documents, the Bible, for instance, or the
Constitution and the Declaration. We will cling to them like
their sacred but we will not take their lessons. No
one takes the lessons of the Bible in today's world. Nobody,

no Christian I've ever met, gets the message of the
Bible right, love everybody like you'd love yourself. Judge not
lest they not be judged. No one ever get it
the Bible right. And it appears that while we say
we value the Declaration of Independence, we value the Constitution,

(09:11):
we don't value it enough to risk anything for it, because,
just like it says, we would rather lament under evil
than to change it. You know, today he won a
victory half a billion dollar judgment thrown out on appeal,

(09:32):
the one Letitia James in New York had gotten. I'm
not surprised. I just shook my head and staid, of
course he's going to start. Nothing is going to be
bad is going to happen to him. Everybody is cowering.
He has placed people loyalist. Three of the five panel
members in New York were Trump appointees. He has made

(09:54):
it secure so the courts will not rule against him.
Texas is about to pass are redistricting. Well, California counter
We don't know. Obama came out yesterday for it, but
we don't know if it's going to happen. But if
we just go back to the instruction manual and I
know as humans we don't like to do that. Women

do but men don't. Men hate to you know, go
back to the manual. But if we went back to
the day the declaration of this detective, it is streaming
at us to abolish our current form of government. Want

obvious that it's not working. It's not working for me.
I know it's not working for you. When Americans want
to leave their own country in mass not just a
couple or a few, or one hundred thousand a year
or whatever. When millions of people want to leave the country,
that means it's not working. It's not working for them.

Is America working for you? And I mean, this is
America in its current form working for you? The answer
is no, it's not. You know, it's just it's not.
It's broken, and the work to get it back is extensive,
but no more than our founders went through. We would

have to set huge term limits in the Supreme Court,
in the House, in the Senate. We would have to
get all money out of politics and make the campaigns
publicly funded. Since there are airwaves, the public airways, we
would have to tell major corporations that you're not going
to charge for political ads. They are free if you

still want to broadcast on our airwaves. We would have
to not be afraid to remove a president like Donald Trump,
to use the articles of impeachment that have been given
to us by the Constitution on Trump on the Supreme Court.
But we don't. And so that led me, after reading

(12:44):
that paragraph, that led me to life, because I think
in our world, in my world, your world, we really
should be about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,
and so we need to get to live in or
start dying. And Trump has paralyzed so many people, including me,

(13:12):
because every day you wake up, you see the headline Trump.
You know, half a billion dollar judgment overturned. You know,
every day you see him winning, not being prosecuted for
all of his crimes, not being prosecuted for what he
did with Epstein, not being and you see people supporting him,

(13:33):
and it makes you feel horrible. It makes you feel powerless,
It makes you feel paralyzed, like there is no future,
and so you don't craft one. That's what I've been doing.
I've been treading water because I don't see a future

(13:54):
for the United States. I don't mean with me in it.
I don't see a future for the United States. I
see it failing continually. I don't think Democrats are going
to make a big surge in the midterms because they're
going to cheat and redistrict. I don't think in twenty
twenty eight that Democrats are going to win and win

(14:14):
the House and Senate. I think the damage is irreparable.
I think it's been done, and I think the patients
on life support in a coma and not going to
come off. So what do we do? What do we do?
We get to living, We get to living. For instance,

(14:37):
I owe forty grand on a second mortgage on this house,
but outside of that, I own the house. It's currently
valued about two hundred and sixty thousand dollars. I'm going
to REFI that forty into a sixty thousand dollars line
of credit. Take that twenty and that's what I'm going
to use to move. Figured it out yesterday. That's three
months rent somewhere. That's you know, moving expenses and all

of that. Over those three months, sell the house. Whatever
proceeds I have left goes in the bank, and either
I keep renting somewhere or I move somewhere where that
amount will either buy me an entire property or puts
me in a property that's like a duplex or a
four plex where the other property pays my expenses. That's

the plan. Why, because I got to have a plan, good, bad, whatever.
Got to have a plan. And then you know, I
have a tentative date set October twenty third at Feinstein's
at the Hotel Nico, which used to be the Razroom.
I haven't promoted it yet because we haven't signed the
deal yet and it's not a great deal. They only

want to give me fifty percent of the door, and
that's not good. Maureen Langan has said she would do
the show with me October twenty third at Feinstein's. Well,
I'm gonna need other dates, obviously, because I need to
get back to and I think all of us do.
I think it is time to walk away from Trump

and from MAGA, to walk away. Let them destroy the country.
Make sure you're registered to vote. Make sure that you
if something is happening in your community, some sort of
activation knocking on doors or phone banking or whatever. If
you are prone to do that, then do it. Make

sure you're on the right side, and that all your
ducks are in a row, that you're registered to vote,
that you are giving your time to help a candidate
in your area win or giving money, and that's it.
The rest leave because you can't control it anymore. Stop

watching the news. I know that's hard for a lot
of you. I changed my default when I turn on
my TV was that it turned onto BBC. I changed
that the movie Hub. So now when I turn on
the TV, it's a movie, it's not the news I
can't take. You know, they're moving into Gaza. Netanyahu has

committed genocide and he is going to complete it, and
no one is stopping him militarily. The world's military needs
to move over to Israel and stop Netan Yahoo. Troops
need to be put in front of Israeli troops and
told we are protecting Gaza, you're not occupying Gaza. But

the world won't do that, because, after all, the Holocaust
wasn't so bad, so genocide isn't so bad. That's the
era we live in. Trump today said slavery ain't so bad,
and he wants museums to stop harping on how bad
slavery was. And we look at Israel and we don't
think what Netanyah who is doing is so bad. It's

beyond bad. It's Hitler bad. Netan Yaho is a Jewish
Adolf Hitler. There I said, it prove me wrong. You know,
he's committing genocide. He's occupying territory that isn't his. He's
a Jewish Adolf Hitler. So what are we doing about it? Nothing?

So I have to walk away from that. I can't
heal the Palestinians. I can't grant them the land that
they rightfully deserve. And I can't stop net and Yahoo.
So I have to let it be. I have to
get to live in because all the other is making
us die. I don't know about you, but I feel

like I die inside every day by reading the news.
Every day that I see Trump getting away with something,
net in Yahoo getting away with something, Vladimir Putin getting
away with something, people and my governor getting away with something.
Every time that I see resources being taken from the

poor and given to the rich, every time that my
sister called me in tears yesterday because Medicare does not
want to cover her oxygen generator now, her inogen one now.
They wanted to go back on tanks that she can't carry,
and she was in tears, saying they just want her

to die. That's America now. I told her not to worry.
We'd finance a tank if we had to, you know.
And so we need to get to living. And to
do that, we have to stop dying inside every day,

which means we have to actually turn away from them,
like I deleted Instagram and TikTok yesterday. We have to
turn away. Do what you need to do in your world.
Register to vote, make sure you vote, give to the
right campaign. That's it. That's about all you can do.

off your couch and vote. All I get are negative
comments on social media. None of you go under my
social media and comment and take the commenters to task.

Republicans are going to get their redistricting map. So what
did leaving the state do? Nothing? Nothing. The outcome was
the same. If you don't like this state of being,

then you leave. That's what happened in Nazi Germany. That's
what's happened under every tyrannical regime. People that did not
like it, that felt powerless and wanted to go somewhere
where they felt they had more control, they left. That's
what they did. So we've got two options. We leave

or we simply stop fixating on things we cannot change.
You can't get them out of office. You don't have
the power. I don't have the power. The people that
have the power. They know how we feel about it.
No one is wondering how liberals feel about Donald Trump.

in You know, I am tired of feeling like I'm
dying every day because of Donald Trump. Fuck him, fuck maga.
I really don't care about them. If they could all
fucking drop dead and I don't care, I really don't.

The South could be destroyed by some natural disaster and
I wouldn't shed a tear. And maybe I'm callous, maybe

of them. They know the gravity of what's going on,
and it's weighing them down. Well, they're the only ones
that can stop it, and they're not. You and I can't.
We can vote, we can donate, we can march. That's

about it. So we need to get busy living. We
got three and a half years. We gotta live. We
gotta love, we gotta laugh, We got to sing and dance.
We have three and a half years. We can't just
cocoon ourselves and die. We gotta live. And pursuing life,

liberty and happiness is what I'd rather be doing. That's
what I would like to be doing, pursuing life, liberty,
and happiness. So just filter everything through that. Just filter
it through. Whatever's coming into your world. Is it bringing
you life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness? No, then

keep it out. Keep it out until it has to
be there in the midterms. Okay, support a candidate, vote
all of that. Until then, filter it out life, liberty
or pursuit of happiness. If it doesn't pass, muster on
those three things, keep it out of your world, because

to die simply because I don't tell the MAGA party line,
or because I'm gay, or because my teeth are weird,

have stage four cancer, there comes a point where you
stop the chemo, you stop the radiation, you stop it all,
and you just say, whatever time I have left, I

want it to be happy. And That's where I'm at
with America. America has always been toxic to me as
a gay man. It has never accepted me, and I'm
tired of it. I'm tired of seeing the obvious when
it comes to politics and have it not happened. Have

it be some sort of fight that takes twenty years.
How's the fucking homeless get them off the goddamn street.
I'm sick of seeing them. How's them give money to
the poor, stop sending billions in wars across the world,
and take care of the poor. You were supposed to
be America first. Take care of the poor. Don't demean them,

(37:29):
cut their benefits, tell them they're lazy, say they're not
working enough. Take care of them. I'm sick of talking
about it, sick of debating it. Give a woman back
the right to her body. Leave gays and buys and
trans alone. It's none of your business. But getting there

(37:52):
to those simple truths with an uneducated populace and billions
of dollars that want to sway the country a certain way,
that's a feudal fight. That's trying to fight glioblastoma stage four.
You're not gonna win. I know people that have had

(38:16):
glioblastoma and they stopped the treatments and they said, I'm
going to go have a good life. And that's what
today's show was about. America is terminal, and no one
will say it. The Democrats want to believe we could
revitalize it, we can bring it back, we can save it.

It doesn't want to be saved. Twenty maybe fifteen of
the states want progress, want to move forward, want equality
and diversity. The other thirty five states, they don't want
what we're selling. They don't want to be saved. Trump
just took the ability to detect pollution in the ocean

(39:00):
and the air out of the next gen satellites. They
don't want to hear about climate change. They don't want
to hear about poverty or equality or rights. They don't
want they don't want it. Thirty five states out of
fifty don't want what the other fifteen want. Well, that's

(39:23):
a toxic relationship. And until somebody has the balls to
break up this union, until states have the balls to
secede from the union, we're always going to fight these fights. Always.
We're never not going to fight abortion, gun control, gay
by trans We're never not going to fight that. And

(39:45):
I don't know about you, but I'm sick of that
when there are real issues to handle, and so you're right,
it is actually time to walk away from the treatments
and to do what you need to do to sustain
your life, but to not aggressively try to save the patient.

(40:09):
The patient's dying. America as we know it every day
is dying. We have to accept that we have to
and if we don't, then you can spend your entire
life rallying against it. Go ahead, I have. I've spent
thirty years on talk radio trying to get people to

see the light. I've spent forty years as a journalist
trying to get people to see the light. And where
are we in the most oppressious, oppressive regime we've ever had,
with more rights being taken from us every day than
ever before. After sixty two years of fighting the good fight?
Where am i? I'm not right back where we started.

I'm actually on the other side of the line, backwards
even more. That tells me the patient is not responding
to treatment. The United States is not responding to treatment.
The treatment being education, liberation. It's not Oh, what are

more on that instead of on this. And James Schnabel
in the chat room, he's retired and he's a scientist, pathologist,
so he knows what's going on. He dealt with cancerous
tumors every day, and he knows that the US is
stage four. Now. You can survive stage four cancer, you can,

you can beat it. But to deny that the United
States in its current form is not at stage four
cancer would be to just ignore all the facts. We're dying,
the values that we had, the principles that we had,
they're eroding. As who is this that just said?

Maxwell? Maxwell said? Uh, we've reduced no Robert A. Z
in Arizona. We have reduced Civics courses in public schools.
They don't even teach him anymore. They don't even teach him. Maxwell,

won't read books if I get told now if something
is over six hundred words, it's too long. Figure that out.
Let's see if Meredith mad at me because I singled

you know, get off the sofa and do something. There's
only so much we can get off the sofa, and

do you know what else in order to make let's see,
I've focused on my Maxwell says he's focusing on his family, uh,
and then his immediate community. The rest is out of control. Exactly.
That's exactly the point. Maxwell just summed up my whole show.

to living, focus on your family, focus on your community,
and then do your part nationally. In other words, vote
support good causes in California, help the redistricting effort. But
for the most part, focus on your world because the

powers that be outside of your world, the forces are
so horrible they will destroy you because that's what they
want to do. Maga and Trump want to destroy liberalism.
And the only way we do that is if we
let them beat us to nothing. Don't let them. We

(45:51):
need to spend his presidency restoring ourselves. Okay, that's how
we need to spend the next three and a half years,
getting as healthy as we can, following a plant based diet,
working out, visiting friends, being social with each other, reading
all that we can about science, literature. I read so

(46:15):
many scientific journals to day. You'd think I'd be an
expert at quantum physics by now. But reading, educating ourselves,
elevating ourselves, that's what we need to do. Sorry, I
had to check out. We need to not focus on them.

(46:35):
I'm not saying give up on America. If you think,
at stage four cancer that you can help save America,
then I say do it. Do it. But it's okay
to say I don't want any more treatment. It's okay
to say I don't want to do the radiation. And
for America, what that means is, you know, watching the

news is like potherapy. It's destructive. And if you want
to say I don't, you know right now, I just can't.
I can't do it. That's okay. It's okay for the
next three and a half years to focus on your life,
your world, your family, your community. It's okay to let

(47:22):
your national and worldviews shrink a little right now. Not
be oblivious. Obviously, the big headlines are gonna come through,
you know, but going down the rabbit hole for each one.
Like this morning, when I heard about that five hundred
million dollars being reversed, I just shrugged. I said, yeah,

of course, you put the judges in the right places,
and you're a dictatoria, things are going to go your way.
I didn't. I didn't scream about it. I didn't yell
about it. I was like, yeah, so what you know?
So what? All right? I went way over time today.
Did not mean to, but I did. I don't want

any of you to do anything except live your life.
I want you to act like you've got stage four
cancer and you stop the treatments and you're just going
to get to living. That's what I want you to do.
Start doing the things you've always wanted to do. So

many of us have stopped doing that, so many of
us have stopped living our dreams. Well, I can't afford to,
I can't. I get it. I get all the roadblocks,
but I'm telling you right now, you need to start
acting like you're doing your bucket list, busy yourself with

(48:49):
making yourself happy and then making your community a better place.
After that, it's all going to play out the way
it's going to play out. You know, it's going to
take and support the right causes. Support the redistricting in California,
you know, support the right things. Go down the productive

(49:10):
rabbit holes. You know, if you want to go down
a rabbit hole, go down a rabbit hole that's going
to pay off in a rabbit Okay, that you'll make
a lovely little furry pet out of. That's all I'm
trying to say today. Stop going down rabbit holes that
are empty or that are filled with knives and danger
and you know, traps. If you want to go down

a rabbit hole, make it a rabbit hole that is rewarding.
You know, you want to listen to media, make it
media that makes you happy. You want to watch a movie,
make it a movie that educates, excites, makes you happy.
If you want to read news, make it news that

makes you happy, good news. Read entertainment news, health news,
science news. Subscribe to a good news feed. Let's purge
the negativity that is Donald Trump. Just purge it. Let
it go, and when you do, that's how you beat

stage four cancer. Every stage four cancer survivor said it
was their attitude. Their attitude was they were going to live,
they were going to beat it. All right, let's make
that our attitude. The best way is to survive Donald Trump.
To survive it, and to survive it, we have to

be in a good place. So start living your life,
yours and your families and your community. All right, we'll

to be a safe space for you and to give

Pacman and Don Lemon, and they're all great at what
they do. They're incredible, Tom Hartman, and they provide a
safe space for like minded people to vent their frustration,
which is great. But they've been on the right side
of every issue since they've been broadcasting. And look where

we are now again, I'm not disparaging them. They're on
the right side of every issue, and David Packman looks
good doing it. But what has it gotten this? Has
it converted people that are maga over to being not maga,

not a mass? Has it won election? No. So As
a talk show host for thirty years, I have been
doing something that I now realize, you know, I was
just doing for me and like minded individuals, and it
hasn't really changed the world. As a gay man, I

have changed the world, and so on the show. I
want this show to be a safe space for you
to come and be entertained. And that's why I said
I think I need to change it. I don't think
doing Trump politics every day for the next three and

a half years is what you need. I think you
need the opposite. I think every day you need to
come here to my show and laugh and sing and
cook and hear interesting guests that have written books, even
if no one's reading them. I think we should talk

more about the climate and things like composting or becoming
a plant based eater, or you know, stuff that you
can actually do in your world and community to help
the planet. And I think maybe that's what this show
is about, my personal struggle to change what it is
I'm doing. Because I get angry on the show, I

rant with you because you're angry. I'm angry. Things happen
that really piss us off, and you know, we're righteously angry.
But meanwhile, there's been so many incredible breakthroughs in medicine
that we're not even hearing about. There's been so many
interesting breakthroughs in science that we're not hearing about. There's

been such interesting stuff going on in the food space
that we're not even hearing about because Trump stifles all
of that progressive news, that woke news. And so I
kind of think I want to switch to presenting that

if you like it great. If you don't, then I'd
go broken, and you know what, I'd stopped doing the
show or whatever. But I just think it should be
a safe space here for you, but one that's entertaining
and not just angry or political. Because for thirty years
I've done political topics. Look where we are. I remember

(57:35):
being so sure that al Gore was going to win
in Florida, that they were going to do a recount,
and that al Gore was gonna win because he won
the popular vote and that he was going to be
the president. I was so sure, and then the Supreme
Court illegally stepped in and handed the election to George W. Bush,
another coup, And I was so angry on KFI with

Andrew about that. I was, you know, apoplectic about it.
Didn't change anything. He became president twice. So I think
that we all need to find our safe spaces and
in those spaces start to live again with each other,

like minded individuals. You are my community. You are my community.
So what do I want to do for you. I
want to entertain you. I want to make you laugh
and think. I want to make you guffaw out loud.
I want to show you things that you haven't seen before.

You know, someone in the chatrooms sad, let's go whale watching.
I'd love to and do a whole show talking about
whales and why the blue whales have gone silent, because
they have that's very interesting to me. There's a probe
heading towards Earth. They say it's a comet. I think
it's a probe. And the aliens have gone and the
whales have gone silent. I saw Star Trek. I know

how this is that's the kind of stuff because all
this other stuff. You know, don't go to national museums
if they're going to be censored. Go to regular private museums.
They won't be censored. You know. If a book is banned,
find a different way to buy it. Live your life
