Welcome to the k wots podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Hey guys, welcome to the k Watts Podcast. I am
your host Brandon Watson, but you know me as Brandon Watson.
And this week is actually very very special because your
boy is doing a whole podcast takeover for this week's
episode and I'm really really excited about it. My wife

(01:04):
said on I want to say Tuesday, Hey, how do
you feel about doing this podcast? I said absolutely not.
I am busy this week. I have about six songs
I need to finish out and there's no way I
can record this episode, and she was like, I think
that you should do this episode, and I was like, no, it's.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Okay, It's okay.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
And then lo and behold, I see on Twitter threads
and also Instagram that she had already made the announcement
that I was doing an episode takeover. So, as a loving, gracious,
merciful husband does who's just willing to serve the household,
I am doing an episode takeover. And actually, I really

(01:50):
really am excited.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
So Babe, I know you're listening.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Thank you for having me, thank you for allowing me
to be on your podcast.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
I'm gonna make you proud.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well, hey, let's dive into this because I'm just gonna
tell you from a personal experience that I do not
like waiting.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I don't like waiting.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I am a patient man in some aspects, and in
other aspects I am not patient and I like things
as we all know.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Now, I'm sure you're with me on that.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
With microwaves, with social media, we are of a culture
of I want it now, whether it's buying a car,
buying a house, launching a business. If you're in the
creative industry, music industry, podcast industry, even if you're in ministry.

(02:49):
You want it to happen now, and so many times
I know for me, you know a little bit about
me already. I'm a church boy through and through my families.
My family is pastors, my dad pastors. I've grown up in.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Church and through all the years I have.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Gotten I can't even give you the number of prophetic
words over my life, of promises of the Lord that
have all lined up, they have all been incorrect. I've
had a couple parking lot prophecies that people have popped
out of the bush wanted to give me a crazy one.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
But we're not talking about those today.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
We're talking about the promises over our life that we
know that are in our hearts, the desires of our hearts,
that we get these encouraging words, and it's God just
speaking to us and we're like, yes.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
God, it's the promise to the palace. It's the King
David's story.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I'm in this pastor, I'm working, but I can see
the palace in the distance.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
However, if the Lord said the palace.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Was going to be another twenty years or another thirty years,
how many times are we gonna be like, yeah, we're
probably not We're probably gonna sit down and say, well,
I got some time to spare, I got some time
to wait. And really, what I am in talking about
this whole time, this whole podcast episode, is the word

(04:19):
that we don't like to hear.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
And it's the word wait. I'm gonna let that sink
in for a second. The word wait.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
So I have, just like you've received words, encouraging words
over my life and that I've been waiting for in
certain aspects. There's other aspects that I have seen the
promise fulfilled in my life and all my life that
God has And about a year ago, my wife and
I actually made out made a trip out to Nashville

(04:52):
before we moved out here, and we did some business
out here. We went to church out here which is
now our home church. Shout out out.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Belong and co We love y'all.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
We absolutely love Belonga Coo and that's our home church.
But we went to a service a year ago before
we decided to come out here, and in that service
we had gotten a word that was wait. And I

(05:25):
literally almost wanted to roll my eyes and be like,
not again, Lord, not again. And there was so many
things in our life that we were planning at the
time in a season of our life where we were
praying about relocating and you know, career wise and ministry wise,
just God, what do you have next? And we knew
in our heart where God was leading us, which was

(05:47):
out here to Franklin in Nashville area. But we still
got a word that said wait. And I'm like, well,
for how long?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
God?

Speaker 3 (05:58):
I started asking all the questions, how long exactly do
you expect me to wait? What areas am I supposed
to wait? In talking to my wife about it, I'm like, hey,
of God saying wait, what is he telling you to wait?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Odd?

Speaker 3 (06:11):
And We're just going back and forth and back and
forth with the Lord. And you know, God really just
started making every crooked path straight as we began to
have peace with waiting in the promise and waiting in
His presence. And I was reminded by two scriptures that

(06:33):
popped up in this season because a lot of how
we wait and how we posture ourselves, that's really how
what God is looking at. He's looking at our attitude,
he's looking at our posture. He's looking at are we
still going to worship him the exact same way? Even
if we weren't waiting and we were doing the thing,

(06:57):
or we were living the dream. He's still going to
cry out to him the exact same way. Are we
still going to be hungry and desperate and don't need
nothing from God but just to be able to sit
and wait in his presence? And so the scriptures that
had popped up over the last I want to say

(07:19):
year and a half to me, was you know, of
course I'm a King David fan. That is my guy,
that's my hero. I love me some good, King David.
And in Psalms he's writing in chapter forty it's actually

(07:40):
verse one, King David says, I waited patiently for the
Lord to help me, and he turned to me and
he heard my cry. And then also it goes on
in chapter forty six, verse ten, it says, be still
and know.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
That I am God.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
I will be honored by every nation, and I will
be honored throughout the world. I have a hard time
sitting down not doing anything, to be honest, I have
a hard time taking a sabbath. I have a hard
time not working. I have a hard time disconnecting. I
have a hard time just chilling. I have a hard

(08:21):
time staying in the house and that's just me, that's
just how I'm wired. I've learned from being married and
with my loving wife, who's been very patient with me,
to be able to sit on a couch binge watch
a TV show and it's okay. It's okay to sit down,

(08:42):
it's okay to take a sabbath. In fact, the Bible
says to take a sabbath. So with that, there's a
few things I want to unpack with these scriptures, because
one I waited patiently for the Lord and he helped
me to me and heard my cry. This is King
David speaking this because in that moment, a lot of

(09:07):
us we don't like to wait patiently.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
We like to get to.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Hear the word from the Lord that says wait. And
along the way, we have a lot of gripes. I've
been there, I've done it. I'm speaking from experience. We
have gripes.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
We have attitude issues. We have.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Just grouchy days. We have some moodiness with the Lord
and with others because of the Lord saying wait. And
so many times if we just knew what God knew,
we would completely change our attitude. Because sometimes God is
sparing us because we're not ready for the promise. God

(09:54):
is sparing us because what comes along with the promise
carries weight and respond and if our character is not ready,
He's not going to give it because He actually loves us.
He loves me, He loves you more than actually giving
us what we're begging and praying for.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
He would rather.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Our heart and soul be completely in love and drawn
and total submission to Him than to just be a
gift giving God and make us spoiled. You know, I'm
the only child with my family, and everyone has said.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
That I was spoiled growing up.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
But one thing that about me is I have learned
being married, I enjoy receiving gifts and they really mean
a lot to me, Like I will thank my wife
over and over again for her buying me a pair
of flip flops and surprising me, like it means so

(10:58):
much to me. And that may be you as well.
And you know, God loves that. He loves when we're
just thankful and we come in with gratitude. You know,
the Bible talks about even in a form an act
of worship, that we would come in his courts with thanksgiving,
and we would come in his courts with praise, that

(11:18):
is a that is a posture of worship, and that
right there is the first lesson of waiting. How are
you waiting? How are we waiting? How am I waiting?
Am I waiting in a posture of worship? Or am
I waiting in a posture of being disgruntled with God?

(11:38):
Am I waiting in a posture that is so off
putting to the body of Christ that they don't want
to put me in any any responsibility within ministry because
that person looks bitter, that person looks angry, and it
comes off in every conversation because really, I'm upset with God.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
But God is.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Is telling us, Hey, it's okay to rest, it's okay
to wait, it's okay to lean back, it's okay to
wait patiently for the Lord to help me. Because when
we wait patiently, He then turns to us when we're
crying out to him, Hey, God, I need you.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
You know what. I let go of the.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Promise because if you gave me the word, it's still
going to happen because.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
You're not a liar. So God, I let go of that.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
I give those back, the desires back to you because
you're the one who put them in my heart to
begin with, and I wait patiently, and while I wait,
I will Stewart Well, what you've given me to Stuart Well, relationships, businesses, ministry, family, friends.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
And that's what we're talking about here today.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
And the next, the next layer to it is the
bet still part, right, because we can wait patiently, but
just being still, if you have add that is like
the worst thing you can be told, hey be still,

(13:18):
or hey be quiet and stop talking.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
It is the worst. It's the worst thing. But the
thing is, this is what the scripture is about.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
It's be still and know that I am God. Meaning
sit there and look at the face of the Lord,
and look at who he is, and look at that
he's gracious, and look at that he is kind, and
look at be still, and know within your soul that
God is who he says he is. God is who

(13:51):
the Word of God, who he is what the Word says,
That is who God is. He's not this crazy, angry,
upset God that doesn't want to give you your prayers
that you're asking for. He wants you to be in
total love and in total submission and total willingness to

(14:13):
serve him. And to Stewart Well, the things that He's
given you well and so many times, even within the
worship community as a worship leader, as a worship musician, you.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Learn very quickly that.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
A flow is so important in worship and making room
and making space and worship is the really really just
creating the moment for God to speak himself. It's the
screen of being still and knowing that he is God.

(15:03):
And I my style of worship leading. If you've been
in any services with me or around me, I'll have
a set list and I will try to stay on
the set list, but I also love to sing to
God what I feel in the moment he's telling me

(15:24):
to sing, because sometimes it's for the people in the room,
or sometimes it's just for the heart of the Lord
to He wants to hear these things. And that's what
we go into and it's creating that moment. It's creating
that space of God to show up for his presence
to rest in the room, for his presence to minister

(15:46):
to those that are broken hearted, that needs set free,
that just need really a hug from God. It's not
rushing the moment and those types of things is how
we can look at that even with our lives of
how many times and how many moments are we rushing
through and not making room and not making space for

(16:10):
God to one deliver us, set us free, renew our minds,
to even physically get our bodies healthy. How many times
are we so much on the go and on the
rush that we're getting no shade McDonald's, or we're getting
Burger King, or we're getting fast food because oh man,

(16:33):
I don't got time. I don't got time to eat healthy.
But in the longevity, the long run, that's not going
to be good for you. So make taking a moment,
taking space, making room for us not to be so
in a rush and in a hurry in our lives,

(16:55):
but in our spiritual walk, in our faith, in our
relationship with.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
The King of kings and the Lord of Lords.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
And a question that I've asked God is how long
would you like me to wait? How long would you
like me to wait? Okay, you've told me to wait?
How long exactly is that going to be?

Speaker 2 (17:23):
God?

Speaker 3 (17:25):
And really, the moment that I stop asking how long
is it that I got to wait? And I kind
of forget about it. When we truly let that go,
I've seen God show up and do the thing he'll
show up and a check will be in the mail,

(17:49):
or he'll show up and a booking comes in, or
he'll show up and relocates us to a whole different
city and state, or he you know the moment that
for me and this is my experience and for you
may be a little bit different.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
But when I.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Stop asking God, he does the thing because I fall
back into total submission to his authority.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
I fall back into God.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Even if it never happens, I'm okay, even if it
never comes true. I'm okay just being your son. I'm
okay with just having a relationship with the true living God.
I'm okay with making room and making space on my
heart and allowing every idol to fall because you are

(18:40):
the only king. You are the king of my heart,
and I'm okay with that. And we have one hundred
and thirty two days left in twenty twenty four. And
the question that I would love for you to introduce

(19:01):
into your life is instead of saying, God, how long
do you want me to wait? It would be God,
how would you like me to make space in my
life to wait?

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Well?

Speaker 3 (19:18):
And that is going to be my prayer for you
this year as we wrap it up, that you would
allow God to just wrap his loving arms around you
and speak life. And for some of us, it's hard
to be loved well because we haven't been loved well,
and so when we receive love well, we.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Don't know what to do with that. But God's not
that way.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
His love is perfect, and his love is kind, and
his love is patient, and he wants you you, he
wants me.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
He wants us.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Well in our waiting. He doesn't want us to be
disgruntled or turn devices or turned to devices, and he
wants us to turn our eyes to him and draw
near to him in the waiting. He wants us to
become better in the waiting. He wants us to become

(20:14):
kind in the waiting. He wants us to become loving
to one another in the waiting, and be a very
good steward of what He's given us. And I was
just having the conversation with my wife the night before
that I have learned within the last few months that
even though we are programmed, we are trained in entrepreneurial

(20:38):
space and the ministry space and in corporate that we
need to set metrics and we need to set goals
and be forward thinking and forward, you know, advancing at
all times. And you know, the Bible says, expand your
territory and your ten stakes, and that is all great
and we should. But so many times when you're a
visionary and a creative, you get locked into five years

(21:01):
and ten years from now that you forget to live
in the now, and you forget to appreciate the now,
and you forget to stuart well the now. And I
told my wife the other day that, you know, one
of the things that I'm I'm going to do well
at to end twenty twenty four is living more in

(21:24):
the now and not being absent minded in any kind.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Of way or.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
I'm trying to have my thoughts or my thinking in
years from now, even though goals are great and that
they are on the whiteboard and they are getting done.
But right now is what we have. You know, the
Bible says that tomorrow tomorrow is not promised, and we
get so caught up in the tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
But God is telling us to stuart.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Now well, and that's where we are. And I'm so
excited to see what the rest of this year looks like.
I'm so excited to see what the rest of this
year looks like for you.

sons and daughters of the Kingdom.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
And God, even if.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Someone stumbles upon this that does not know you, God,
that you would just draw them near to your heart. God,
that you would plant the seed and the desire to
know you.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
God.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Lord, as we are in a season of waiting, if
we have been told hold from you to wait, that
you would just give us the grace and the mercy
and the patience.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
To wait well.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
And God, that we would just rest and be patient
and be still and know that you are just you
are God, and Lord. I just thank you for this opportunity.
And I asked that this this word would go forth
and go well on the people's hearts and your name,
we pray. Hey man, Well, that is another episode of
