Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Long for Truth podcast. I'm Robin Long.
Join my husband Dan and I as we explore the
roots of the early Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, and we
shine a light on false doctrines and false teachers in
the modern church. Let's get started.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Of course, of design power aims to be bulletproof, like
Fort Knox. First, you have to pass through three identifying
lasers just to get into this room, the in out room,
or as it's also known, the turntable. That's because now
it's time to rock and roll. You turn off your car,
turn off the engine, and now you just sit back
and relax and do absolutely nothing from here. It's all

(00:41):
done by the car elevator itself. There's a dolly right
over there after the car rotates that is going to
then shoot out. We'll under the car hook it, pull
it back into the elevator, and away you go. Now
in time laps, this is what it looks like. The
car elevator, trademarked the Deservator after the developer guild. Desert

(01:01):
is then pre programmed to your private garage wear. At
about two to three minutes, you and your rid are home,
and that home is a multi million dollar skypad right
on the ocean, high end appliances, your own private pool,
on your own private balcony, and your car visible next
to the living room through fireproof glass. So yes, car lovers,

(01:22):
you finally get to sleep with your car. Each floor
has just three units built around this revolutionary car elevator shaft,
and since most of the units are second and third homes,
they're likely will never be away. One hundred and thirty
two units just six left, including this four story, thirty
two million dollar penhouse with twenty foot tall windows and

(01:43):
ceilings and a spectacular sixtieth floor terrace. This car elevator itself,
the deservator, is totally American made, built in tested in Chicago.
Portia designed the building's interiors and for the celebrity or
billionaire who doesn't want to talk or see any one,
this building's perfect. You can drive in off of a
one A right into the car elevator escorder writes your

(02:06):
view views of the ocean as you can see, and
you'll never have anybody even know you've pulled into your home.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
And this preacher tad may be the biggest of all
the personages in America. The mansion behind me is where
Pastor Jesse Deplantus lives. It's located outside New Orleans, and
he has said it cost about twenty million dollars to build,
and he often brags about all the valuable artwork inside.

(02:33):
But records from last year show neither to Plantis nor
his church paid a single cent in taxes on this property.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
I have the biggest house of any preacher in America.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
I'm saying that on television.

Speaker 6 (02:48):
You don't think they gonna nail me next week when
I get on.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
De Plantis didn't return our calls or emails, so we
caught up with him in this Georgia church parking lot.
We wanted to ask you if you're paying property taxes
on your mansion in Louisiana.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
To me, those houses look more like a fortress than
an open door.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
Hello, everyone, welcome to Along for Truth. My name is
Daniel Long, and sitting next to me is my lovely wife, Robin.

Speaker 7 (03:11):
Hi.

Speaker 6 (03:11):
Everyone, So should a pastor live above the means of
most people in his congregation? Well, we see a lot
of that going on in many churches across the world
and in the United States. And Robin, we've been talking
about megachurches over the past several weeks, and we're going

(03:33):
to continue talking about that today, but this time we're
going to be focused on the lifestyle of the pastors.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Absolutely. So, like Danny mentioned, if you've seen any of
our recent videos, we have talked about what the pastors
are wearing and what they're preaching, and using movies as
their themes. We've covered a lot of bases using crazy
gimmicks up on the podium, up on the pulpit, and

(04:02):
so today we wanted to switch gears cover another topic,
and that is these filthy and I use that term
literally filthy rich pastors who pastor these ginormous congregations and
what kind of example are they setting and is it
a biblical example?

Speaker 6 (04:21):
Yeah, And in our research we came to find out
that some of the pastors of some of the largest
churches in the world are making not just millions, but
even up to a billion dollars off of their congregations.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
It's insane, absolutely, and the number one filthiest richest pastor
in the universe would be a dear Messito from Brazil. Now,
when we studied this, we actually found out like three
or four of the top ten richest pastors in the
world are from Brazil, and Brazil has a very large

(05:05):
Pentecostal presence. And these people are coming from Catholicism going
into Pentecostalism because of the excitement and because of the
hope of becoming like their pastor, who happens to be
very rich. So let's talk a little bit about a
dear Messito. He was raised Catholic and converted to Pentecostalism.

(05:27):
In nineteen seventy five. He started a church called the
Universal Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. It currently
has temples around the world, and I think it has
six thousand temples in Brazil alone, with twelve thousand pastors.
It is located in how many countries, I have, like

(05:50):
one hundred countries, one hundred and fifty countries. There are
three hundred and seventy two of his churches in the
United States.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
It's insane, absolutely insane. And what these guys do, folks,
in case you don't know, I mean, there's lots of
ways that make money. There are a ton of ways
that they make money. But one of the big ways
that they do it is plant these churches all over
the world and even in the United States. And they
require the pastors of those churches to tithe to them,

(06:21):
give a portion of their ties to them, and they
make BOOKOO box off stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Buy bookoo we need Mesito is worth one point eight
billion dollars with a bee. It's disgusting, It really is.
So if you were to go online and you were
living in New York City, you could type in the
Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and find like
thirty five locations in New York City alone, and imagine
each and every one of those locations, Like Danny says,

(06:49):
it acts like a franchise or a chapter is sending
money back to Mesito.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
You did a comparison, and I don't know if we've
got a slide for this. If we do, I'll put
it up. You did a comparison of some of these
past maybe it was a Messito and how they're compared
to a mafia mob boss.

Speaker 8 (07:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
As a matter of fact, they just because in addition
to getting all of this money from these different chapters,
they also do a lot of money laundering. As that
money comes back to them, they funnel it through different
businesses so it doesn't look like it's their money, and

(07:30):
then they use that money to grow non tax exempt businesses,
which is illegal. It's ugly. It's a very ugly business
at now Messito. In addition to having this ginormous church
empire around the world, he owns the third largest television

(07:51):
station in Brazil, but he always has free advertising. He
owns a record company, he owns half of a bank,
so he's got his hands, his money hungry hands in
the pot of all of these different types of businesses.
He writes a ton of books and he sold over

(08:12):
ten million books as well. I know we're going to
put up some pictures of his lavish lifestyle. He of course,
he lives in a crazy mansion. But the one we
wanted to talk about the most is you may have
seen his name in the news recently because he recently
put his fourteen million dollar condo located in Miami in

(08:35):
the Porsche Building in Miami, which was one of the
most famous buildings there located in Miami, and he put
that up on the market because he was getting a
lot of outcry from probably his congregation.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
I would yeah, and you mentioned the price of the condo,
fourteen million dollars is what he is up for. And
if you saw the opening clip and you saw the
Porsche the Porsche elevator. That is the it's called what
is it, It's Porsche Palace or something. That's the name

(09:11):
of the condo in Florida, the big building in Florida.
And it's got an elevator for your car, a car
elevator that you can literally ride up and take to
your it's condo. It's it's just and this is this
is These are pastors, folks, and this is what is
so disgusting. These are people who are, you know, living

(09:37):
this lifestyle off of the donations of their people.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Live in Levi to Loco. Right, let's talk a little
bit about his church. He had it built in twenty
ten and it looks like the Temple of Solomon. So
he decided to do that. Worth how much money.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
It was like three hundred million dollars or something like
that to put now, well, I was getting ready to
mention the worth of another pastor. We'll do that later on.
But three hundred million dollars for a building christ church building.
It's and it looks like the Temple of Solomon.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, it's supposed to. So inside he has an exact
replica of the arc of the Covenant. But the most
interesting thing about the Temple of Solomon is the fact
that they have a conveyor belt that goes from the
pulpit to the back room to carry the tithes that

(10:34):
they receive every Sunday, So tithing conveyor belt, and that
that is a perfect picture of what these megachurch pastors do.
When we say megachurch, I do want to say that
not every single megachurch pastor falls into this category.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
Yeah, we want to qualify that, sir.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
There are certain things you should have your eyes open to.
Is like, how is my megachurch pastor living? Is it
far above the norm?

Speaker 6 (11:05):
That kind of thing. Yeah, conveyor about now, we tried
to find a picture. That's the biggest thing for me
when finding out that there's a conveyor belt that takes
the money into the pastors into the back or whether
it's in middle's office or not, I don't know, but
could not We could not find a picture.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Find a picture.

Speaker 6 (11:27):
Worry about that?

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Do we will bring it to you.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
But that was mentioned in several articles that we looked at,
not just one, but several articles. And so, yeah, this
guy is filthy, and I think we have a clip
of him preaching, and what is he He calls people loser,
those who doubt they're losers.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Just to show you a little bit of what his
Of course, he's a prosperity preacher. And in this clip
he is at a church, one of his many locations
in Miami, so there will be a translator, and he's
talking about losers.

Speaker 8 (12:07):
A word of doubt is a word of Satan, a
word of hell. He destroyed, which destroys, which makes a
person become feeble, spirited, destroyed, which also makes a person

(12:31):
become a loser.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Last persons, you see.

Speaker 8 (12:40):
The loser, people who became losers, are full of doubts.
And so the spirit of evil speed to the spirit

(13:02):
of these world, spirit of Satan, the spirit of demons,
evil forces have created inside people's lives, this fear insecurity, weakness, uncertainty.

(13:28):
Do you understand what I'm saying? How many opportunities have
you lost because of a doubt?

Speaker 7 (13:38):
M hm?

Speaker 6 (13:39):
So if you doubt, you're a loser. Now, I have
watched a few videos or a few sermons by this
guy this week, and there's not a He doesn't say
a lot, to be honest with you, he just he
quotes Bible verses. He is a prosperity preacher, but he's
not as or at least he wasn't in the few

(14:00):
sermons that I listened to, he wasn't as pushy as
some of these other prosperity Gospel pastors to give are.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Right, and he's not as pushy Danny because he trains
his preachers to be kind of this go getter. Never
show them a weak side preacher. And if your congregant
won't give, don't worry about it, because others will. So

(14:29):
he's just like you put it out there. If they
don't give, they can leave. We've got others. So it's more.
It literally is this conveyor belt Christianity where he's just like,
bring in the givers, find the givers, get from them
so that we can all profit from this. One of
the sayings he's most known for sums up his lifestyle,

(14:50):
and it says, if I preach prosperity and my clothes
are ragged, who will follow me.

Speaker 6 (14:56):
One of the things that you're gonna see that each
one of these pastors in common as we go throughout
this video is that they're all greedy for gain. Now
they're not going to admit that that's not something they
would admit, but it shows by their lifestyle and how
they treat money and some of the things that they say,

(15:17):
and even whose churches they show up and speak at.
So that's a huge issue, and the Bible warns about.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
That Titus one seven. For an overseer, as God's steward,
must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or
quick tempered, or a drunkard, or violent or greedy for gain.
One Peter five, two and three. Shepherd the flock of
God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion,

(15:47):
but willingly as God would have you, not for shameful gain,
but eagerly, not domineering over those in your charge, but
by being examples to the flock.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
Think about what Peter and Paul are saying here. They're
talking to pastors in their time, and so this this
has been going on since since the beginning of the church,
that the devil has people coming into the church that
look like legitimate pastors, but they're actually out for themselves.

(16:21):
They're out for gain, they're out to make money off
of their congregations. And how much more today, I mean,
when you look at the wealth at some of these guys.
This especially is next guy we're gonna be talking about.
And who's the next next pastor on the list?

Speaker 1 (16:37):
The next pastor hailing in from South Africa is drum
roll please, alf lu Cow worth a mere one billion dollars.
Alf is more overtly prosperity minded than a dear messito.
He's the one driving the flashy mobiles, wearing the flashy clothes,

(17:03):
really carries himself like a king in among his congregation.
So born in nineteen seventy five, he founded his organization,
which is Ala Lujah Ministry's international aim in two thousand
and two. He of course owns a private jet his company,

(17:23):
the alf Lucau Group. He has his hand in mining,
real estate, energy, petroleum, media, everything. He's got money everywhere,
and in some lists you're not going to find him
listed as one of the top ten pastors because so
much of his money may come from other organizations like this.
But the way he carries himself in front of his

(17:46):
congregation just places him so firmly in this megachurch mold.
He claimed to resurrect a man from the dead, and
there are videos of this out there and it's such
a scam.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
Oh my, it's just absolutely ridiculous.

Speaker 9 (18:02):
Elliots, elliots, Jesus, lit your hands, lit your hands.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
Jeez, it's commanding, it doesn't, it doesn't.

Speaker 7 (18:49):
Just so fake.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
It's really poorly done. He like Messito, has franchises all
over the world. I know there's one in North Carolina
where it's an aim International Church. We actually have a
clip showing his Highness alf Cow arriving at church.

Speaker 10 (19:10):
What after we spent in seclusion, hidden in the secret place,
in God's counsel and deep prayers for yours and my
miracle post off, the cow makes his way to the
century where thousands of men and women are weight to
receive the which God has set for them. My, oh,

(19:31):
my goodness, foster Off is making his way into the
auditorium right now, Family, The atmosphere is charged. The glory
of God is increasing at this place. People are tired
of a mediocre life. People are tired of sickness. People
are tired of mediocrity. I am telling you, family, after
we emarinated, after we assaulted our lives, will liberty the
same again. Family, We're about to go inside for President Watship.

(19:53):
Right now and after today we will all testify of
the goodness of the law. Joseah tipped a twelve use
thirteen by a prophet, the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt,
and by a prophet he was preserved. Every time that
God wants to intervene in a situation, he will send

(20:14):
his beloved prophets. All the strain, the bitterness, and the
pain that the saints have been experiencing sees us.

Speaker 11 (20:23):
Today.

Speaker 10 (20:24):
We will see the greatest manifestation of the supernatural power
of God like never before.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
It's not just the pastors of these churches, it's the
people in these churches as well. They are They've put
this pastor in front of them. This is what they
want to hear. They don't want to hear Christ and
him crucified for their sins. They don't want to hear
you know how the Bible tells us how we are

(20:59):
to live as Christians or anything like that. They want
to find out how to get out of poverty. They
want to find out how to get out of debt.
They want their best life now. And that's the issue.
Many of these people in these churches are just they're
not Christians because their mind is set on things of

(21:22):
this world. That's not where our minds are to be
as Christians. We're to be the apostle. Paul tells us
where to set our minds on things above. But these
people in these churches, I'm going to say, the majority
of them, it's all about using Jesus, using God to
help me either get rich, be like the pastor and

(21:45):
have all of this wealth, or get me out of debt,
get me out of poverty. A lot of these pastors,
and even those in Nigeria, they're in poverty. You know,
countries that are that are you know, filled with poverty,
and they want out of it. And so they look
their pastors and they're like, man, I want what this
guy's got exactly.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
On the Desiring God website, John Piper has a really
good quote. He says, nobody is drawn to Jesus as
the spiritual, saving, satisfying treasure of their souls by the
luxurious lifestyle of those who supposedly preach the word nobody.
What people are drawn to in preachers who make much
of their luxury is the hope of luxury. That's what

(22:25):
they're drawn to, the hope of luxury. And that really
sums it up now, we're going to show this luxurious
pastor working the room as he's.

Speaker 6 (22:36):
Take a look at his microphone, will you This is
a very intelligent man.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
And the Lord give me a name.

Speaker 9 (22:43):
He say, pray for a man. His name is Samil Modak,
and I heard that he was born on the fifteenth
of June. And he say, as you pray the blessing Beta,
I will release true. You will rich his mother, who

(23:03):
is eighty four years old.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
That's amazing, that's amazing.

Speaker 9 (23:10):
And he says to me, the eighty four years old mother, Anita,
would be touched as a prey for him. But also
Monica sixty four years old. Monica sixty four years old,
how do you know about my family, pastor, Jesus, how

(23:31):
do I know about it?

Speaker 5 (23:36):
Hallelujah, Jesus, hallelujah.

Speaker 7 (23:40):
That's amazing.

Speaker 9 (23:43):
Somebody lifts your hand, said Jesus. Jesus said, Jesus, Jesus.
The Lord is remember you.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
Well, somebody with a gold microphone.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Really, I think he really on the actor. Oh my goodness,
did you know so much about my family, pastor? I'm like, wow,
spend a little more on your actors out. Oh, it's
known to do this all of the time. He's definitely
got the little ear button and they're feeding him info
about people constantly. He's like, oh, there's a woman here

(24:22):
named x y Z and he'll say magical things about her.
But yeah, that kind of sums up alf Locau.

Speaker 8 (24:28):
Right.

Speaker 12 (24:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
Now, the next pastor, of course, on the list, and
this guy depends on the list that you look at.
You know, he could be listed numbered the number two
richest pastor in the world or the number three richest
pastor in the world. But it's Kenneth Copeland from the
United States. Of course. Now, we've done videos about the

(24:49):
Word of Faith movement. We feature Kenneth Copeland in those videos.
We have used Kenneth Copeland videos over and over and
over again. Yeah, so we're not going to spend a
huge amount of time here on on Copeland. But one
thing I will say is that he is not ashamed
in any way, shape or form about the fact that

(25:11):
he is rich.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
She flaunts his wealth, he definitely does.

Speaker 13 (25:14):
Yeah, I'll go ahead and tell you this. Now, don't
get disturbed because he said three billionaires, Now don't. I
don't want you to get disturbed because since I'm one
of them, that'll lonely leave two more the last now,

(25:37):
don't tell them, senators, this the last time we totaled
it up, which has been some time ago. This ministry,
since it's been in operation forty one years.

Speaker 7 (25:56):
This month.

Speaker 13 (25:58):
The last the last accounting out and this has been
this has been two three years ago, so there would
probably be at least one hundred and fifty million more
added to this. Their income last year was over one
hundred million dollars, so there has been over a billion

(26:22):
three come into this ministry since it's went into operation
now or used flyer.

Speaker 11 (26:28):
Lines, right, But even back there then, man, it got
to the place where it was agitating his spiritual for
coming up to him. He had become famous and they
wanted him to pray for him and all that. You
can't you can't manage that today, this dope filled world.
And get in and there, get in a long tube
with a bunch of demons, right, that's exactly, and it's deadly.

Speaker 12 (26:51):
And you know what got her attention? My airplane. So
I can thing familiar to you. I had an opportunity
right there on inside edition to talk about Abraham and

(27:14):
his wealth, to talk about the curse of poverty at all,
and it just went out everywhere because I own a.

Speaker 7 (27:27):
Big airplane now, while brother, Copan, you own a forty
five million dollar airplane. Yeah, but you don't know what
I paid for it, nowhere near that.

Speaker 12 (27:47):
But it's the same airplane, and Gloria designed a new
interior for it. Sonny boy and a lot of you partners,
what is in it?

Speaker 4 (28:03):
They're about the copany and your dear wife, Laura.

Speaker 7 (28:06):
Would you look at us, look on us same silver
and gold?

Speaker 13 (28:13):
Have we plenty.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
So many.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Multi millionaire pastors out there, and I'm sure you can
name a few as well, but you know, we think
about Benny hann and T. D.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
Jakes.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
I think about even the lower level multi millionaires. I
just looked up David and Nicole crank worth five plus
million dollars, and they're all over the place, that these pastors.
And the problem, of course, isn't that they're wealthy. The
Bible does not preach against wealth per se, but it

(28:56):
preaches against.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
The love of money. Yeah, desiring well and the love
of money. And unfortunately, that's what happens to the people
in the congregation when the pastor is presenting himself as
someone that has a lot of money, and they're wearing
these designer clothes. Think about Michael Todd and all of
these younger pastors out there that are that are wearing

(29:21):
these expensive shoes and jewelry, and even these you know.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Guos, they cause others to covet exactly exactly. Let's look
at first Timothy six, nine and ten. But those who
desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare,
into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into
ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a
root of all kinds of evils. It is through this

(29:47):
craving that some have wandered away from the faith and
pierced themselves with many pangs.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
So notice it says, those who desire to be rich
fall into and a snare. And this passage is tucked
right into in the middle of a larger passage about
false teachers. Folks. Of these teachers, they desire riches, and

(30:16):
that just that just oors over spills over into the congregation.
And that's why these people are so dangerous.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
They are. To sum up the image of a megachurch
pastor that's carried away with his millions of dollars and
is leading a lifestyle far above his congregation. We just
wanted to use the example of Keith Kraft, who we
did a video about a little while ago, and his

(30:50):
crazy lifestyle and how he does believe that God can
do this for anyone and should be able to as
long as as you're following his exam So let's watch
him in action.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
We're believing God for it. Come on, say it like
you mean it. Jobs and better jobs, raises and bonuses,
benefits and settlements, estates and inheritances, interests and income, checks
in the mail, gifts and surprises, binding money, come on, y'all,
bills paid off, deb's demolished, royalties received, and most importantly,

(31:25):
the Kingdom of God advance. Thank you God, Thank you God,
Thank you God, Thank you God. Let's all be faithful.
People that come into our culture, they'll say, like, why
why don't you just talk about scripture? Why do you
talk about leadershipologies. I talk about leadershipologies because this is
what I used to lead myself with the word of God.
You've got to lead yourself with the word of God.

(31:45):
The word of God is not enough. Listen to me,
it's not enough. How do you know what dominion you're
supposed to take. If God says I bless you to
be fruitful, multiply feel the earth, subdue it, and take dominion.
How do you know what is your dominion to take? Okay, well,
let me ask you a question. What are your dreams?
What are the vision that you have? What's the vision

(32:06):
you have for your life? What idea for business is
on the inside of you? Or how are your gifts
being used to monetize? In other words, your dominion is
attached to your gifts that God's given you, that you develop.
Your dominions attached to your dreams. What dreams are in
your heart? What vision do you have for your family

(32:27):
and for your life? So, for instance, my family of
one of my passions for my entire adult life, my
children are now a part of this was to create
generational family wealth for the purpose of advancing God's kingdom.

Speaker 6 (32:42):
So you can see what keith Craft is all about
there and robbing that mantra that tithes and offering mantra
is very similar to that to what they do over
at Bethel Church as well, And I'm pretty sure that's
where he got the idea from. But we did our
video on Keith Craft, and we'll put a link to
it in description if you've never heard of him. This

(33:03):
guy is all about the money, and he's another one
that's not ashamed to talk about that too, and he
has a huge, huge church he does.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Of course, we'd like to encourage you if you're involved
with a church that seems to be a little more
about financial gain and prosperity and God making your life
here on earth as comfortable as possible, to please go
to God's word and see what God's word has to
say about money. Matthew six nineteen through twenty one. Do

(33:35):
not lay up for yourself's treasures on earth, where moth
and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steel.
But lay up for yourself's treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust destroyers, and where thieves do not break
in and steel. For where your treasure is there, your
heart will be also.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Well, where your treasure is there, your heart will be also.
It says a lot about these pastors when especially the
first couple of pastors that we mentioned, but that's where
their heart is, Folks. They're greedy for gain. And if
you are going to a church where your pastor is
flaunting his wealth. You're not in a biblical church. You

(34:14):
need to get out of there because that is not
a pastor sent from Christ. That is a pastor sent
from Satan. Folks, if this video has been helpful, we
asked that you would pass it along. Lord Willin We'll
see you next week.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
