Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Long for Truth podcast. I'm Robin Long.
Join my husband Dan and I as we explore the
roots of the early Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, and we
shine a light on false doctrines and false teachers in
the modern church. Let's get started.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
I feel the annoying.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Come on, I said, I feel the annoying. Don't quit,
don't quit.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Praise and praise.
Speaker 5 (00:25):
Him, pray it, praise him a hall in Lujah.
Speaker 6 (00:32):
President Trump is anointed like a David, and so therefore
the enemy is going to attempt to tempt him.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Do you feel the annoying going through you?
Speaker 7 (00:43):
Pablo? Y? What do you feel?
Speaker 8 (00:50):
Hot?
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Hut? Now what is the annoying? Now let's go down
to this part right here. Satan strategy is to keep
God's people from this anoying by the Antichrist. All right,
that's first John, chapter two and verse eighteen. The Antichrist?
(01:13):
Now what does Christ mean? Known on what? And his
annoyed it? So you are Christians, you are little Christ?
Got it? And you have been filled with his what power?
(01:37):
Got it? Why? Because He left you here to do
what he did. So that anoying is on you?
Speaker 5 (01:46):
And I feel the annoying standing here?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Do you feel that got him? Got him?
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Mighty Lord Jesus, I felt that, Say you did too,
didn't you?
Speaker 3 (01:55):
And that great?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
See that's the annoying.
Speaker 9 (01:57):
Hello everyone, walking along for truth. My name is Daniel Long.
Today we're going to be talking about the anointing, and
I think that it is an important topic because within
charismatic circles, you hear the anointing, the word anointing being
thrown around a lot. But what does the Bible say
(02:18):
about the anointing, because certainly it certainly does talk about
the annoying. Scripture talks about the anointing. So what I
like to do is I'd like to contrast between what
some popular charismatic teachers say about the anointing and look
at what Scripture actually says about the anointing. Now, it
(02:40):
does say a lot. I mean, we could talk about
anointing kings and prophets in the Old Testament, but we're
going to stick to what the New Testament actually says today.
So this is not going to be a hugely deep
dive into this topic. I mean that could take that
could take way longer than what I have time for
(03:03):
in this video. But I do want to just do
a contrast and compare what do popular charismatic teachers say,
what's being taught about it within charismatic circles, and what
does the Bible say. So that's what we are going
to do today. So let me start by going to
(03:26):
our first clip and let's look at what Isaiah Saldivar
says here about the anointing.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
The anointing has power.
Speaker 10 (03:35):
God has anointed you for such a time as this
to walk in his power. There's a reason for his spirit.
There's a reason for his anointing. So God wants to
anoint you, but it's for a reason. Lord, I pray today,
anoint me. God anoint me. God anoint my kids, anoint
my wife, anoint my husband, anoint my church.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
God anoints us. And supernaturally. What is he anointing? It's
the supernatural empowerment of God.
Speaker 10 (04:03):
It's when God supernaturally empowers you buy his Holy Spirit to.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Do what only you can do with the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
All right, So.
Speaker 9 (04:13):
Isaiah says God wants to anoint you, it's something he
wants to do, and that the anointing is his supernatural power.
Now there is power in the Christian life through the
Holy Spirit. He gives us the power to speak boldly,
He helps us in our weakness, He prays for us.
(04:36):
There's a lot we could talk about about power in
the Christian life, and that does have to do with
the Holy Spirit. But here's the thing, folks, you, if
you are a Christian, you're already anointed. This isn't some
mystical thing that you have to wait on that you
(04:57):
have to feel. And we're going to see that that
the Holy Spirit or I'm sorry that the anointing is
something that you can feel. We'll talk about that as well,
but before we do, let's hear what Vlad sab Chuck
always mess up his esme because it's like a tongue twister.
(05:17):
Vlad Sabchuk has to say about the annoying watch.
Speaker 11 (05:22):
Inter anointing is in you. Outer anointing is upon you.
Inter anointing is for you. Outer anointing is for others.
Inner anointing affects my walk. Outer anointing affects my work.
Inner anointing steals me. It brings me peace. Outer anointing
(05:43):
stirs me. It releases power. Inner anointing teaches me. Outer
anointing is transferable. You can't transfer inner anointing. You cannot
impart your devotion life to somebody else. You can't lay
your hands on somebody and impart hunger for God. But
you can impart spiritual gifts. You can impart spiritual anointing,
(06:04):
and you can impart spiritual outer annointing. You can't impart
your inter anointing on somebody.
Speaker 8 (06:12):
All right.
Speaker 9 (06:12):
So, according to Vlad, there are two kinds of anointings.
There's the inner anointing and there's the outer anointing. The
inner annoying is for personal holiness, the living, the Christian life,
while the outer annoying is for things like impartation and
transferring gifts, things like that, And well, again we're gonna
be talking about all that. But here's the thing these
(06:34):
guys are saying. Sometimes, guys like Vlad and others will
say there are different types of anointings, and then you
have David Diega Hernandez saying this, watch, there's.
Speaker 12 (06:47):
Only one anointing. Now that anointing can affect your life
in many different ways. That's the power of God. So
when I say anointing, just know I mean the power
of God, and the power of God can affect your
life in many ways. The power of God can work
in you. The power of God can come upon you,
the power of God can flow through you, it can
work around you.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
The power of.
Speaker 12 (07:08):
God has many different things that it accomplishes. So there's
this idea that some believers have that they have to
collect all these different anointings to become the super Christian.
So they think, Okay, I want the healing anointing, and
I want the prophetic anointing, and I want the deliverance anointing,
and I want the preaching anointing, and I want the
business anointing. And I want the favor anointing. Oh I
(07:29):
want the Esther anointing. Or I want a Joseph anointing.
Oh I want a Moses anointing. No, no, that's not
how it works. There's only one anointing.
Speaker 9 (07:36):
That's the power of God, all right. So according to
David Digga, there is only one anointing, and that anointing,
by the way, is not the power of God. I mean,
there is power with the anointing, and certainly we as
Christians have been anointing, but the anointing is more than
just just this power that you have. But anyway, he
(07:59):
says the there's only one anointing, but then Joyce Meyer
says this watch.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
The anointing is the presence and the power of God
in and on your life. And many times we are
anointed for certain things. So there's the general anointings on
our life as believers. But then God can anoint us
(08:25):
for special things. I'm anointed as a Bible teacher. That
means that God has called me and equipped me to
do this.
Speaker 9 (08:34):
All right, So we seem to have a consensus the
anointing is the power of God, but there are different
kinds of anointings according to these teachers. The problem is
some of them contradict each other. Again, David Diga, there's
only one anointing, and that is the power of God.
And now there are different, you know, ways that this
(08:55):
power is used. Right that you, as a Christian, you know,
can use this power. I guess that's how they would
say it. But you know, there's only one annointing. But
then you have lad saying there's at least two. You
have Joyce Meyer saying there's several, and then you have
other teachers saying things like this watch.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
And I speak life, life, life from out of the
seer anointing into your life, that you shall.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Rule and reign.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
I see this now, I declare what I see, and
you shall receive an impartation of the seer. You shall
receive an impartation of courage, and you shall receive an
impartation of faith. And you too shall roar over your
enemies in Jesus name, Woo.
Speaker 7 (09:37):
I don't want a social media annoying kid. I want
a kingdom anoint king that devil's obey me, that the
spirit of God moves when I speak.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
That's the annoying.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
And I want the annoying that raises the dead, the
annoying that delivers the oppressed, The annoying that opens blind
eyes and empties wheelchairs and refines dead places. They're annoying
that shakes nations. That's the annoying I want.
Speaker 13 (09:59):
During a time a prayer, the Lord began to tell
me to prophesy, to declare the ox anointing. That the
church is coming into a time of tremendous bublas.
Speaker 6 (10:08):
We've ever been a more critical time for the Watchman's anointing.
Speaker 12 (10:11):
And God wants that anointing to rest upon you.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
How do I know that because Jesus told us to watch.
Speaker 14 (10:18):
And the cool thing is Hannah. I feel like number
one is this powerful woman that we see in the scriptures,
who again is a reminder to all women just to
the amazing things that God wants to do through them.
But I feel like Hannah is an example, is a
prophetic illustration of this dimension of prayer He's calling us into.
That's why I call it the Hannah anointing. There's a grace,
there's a power on this dimension of prayer that I
(10:39):
believe breaks barrenness and also shifts the times and seasons.
Speaker 15 (10:43):
From every financial partner of a ministry gives their thirty
dollars a month, fifty dollars a month, hundred dollars a month,
that they form a team that is a benefactor. And
with God TV, we have a company of partners who
are benefactors. Every month they are faith to give. You know,
it might be their thirty dollars, fifty dollars, one hundred dollars,
(11:04):
some some can give more. But the thing is every
person is a benefactor and builds a corporate benefactor anointing
so that God TV itself can be then a blessing
to all the nations of the world. It fits right
in with the blessing of Abraham. So we do want
to encourage you if you want to step into a
benefactor anointing right now. I do want to encourage you
(11:27):
to become a partner with God TV because you become
a partner with a whole company of benefactors using that
anointing to bless the advancement of the Kingdom worldwide.
Speaker 13 (11:37):
And I believe today that God is calling those of
us that love Him to begin to stand between people
that He's positioned in our lives and us in their lives,
and to begin to pray that this is the Intercessor's annoying.
And let me just say again, this is not an
annoying that is for an e lead group of people.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
So there's the inner anointing, there's the outer anointing. There's
the ox anointing. There's the Hannah anointing. There's the bit
of factor anointing, which you, by the way, can make
a lot of money if you can get that anointing.
There's the intercessor anointing. A lot of different anointings, and
yet David Diga says there's only one anointing. So different
(12:20):
teachings among different charismatic teachers. And it's really not that difficult.
It's quite simple, and we'll get to that. But first
we have to talk about this idea of the anointing
being transferable. Now, this is what this is common, okay,
and we've seen this. It goes way back, way way back.
(12:41):
And we can talk about Rodney Howard Brown because we're
going to show them show a clip. So that's where
we'll talk. That's what we'll talk about. You remember the
Laughing Revival in the early nineties, in the early nineties
that Rodney Howard Brown was a part of or orchestrated,
I guess, and how the Holy Spirit supposedly fell on
these meetings and people just laughed uncontrollably, I mean the
(13:05):
entire crowd sometimes, right, You see Kenneth Hagen clips on
YouTube of him walking around the crowd and you know,
just so supposedly transferring this anointing to the crowd, and
you see the crowd is going berserk, laughing uncontrollably, rolling
(13:27):
around the floor holding their bellies and it's just ridiculous.
And that, folks, is not the Holy Spirit. But that
is what Rodney Howard Brown says. The Holy Spirit is,
and we've seen that kind of stuff and in Toronto,
we've seen it in Lakeland and just all of these
different places. Bethel. But they say that the Holy Spirit
(13:49):
is transferable. So let's take a look at this clip
of Rodney Howard Brown talking about that watch.
Speaker 8 (13:57):
And the annoying thing is transferable, and so you have
to place the demand upon it, as the woman with
the issue of blood placed the demand on the annointing.
How does she do that? She came and touched the
hem of his garment, and she actually said that as
a point of contact, which would be no different that
if you went home and took your bedside table lamp
(14:20):
and unscrewed the lob bob and put your finger in
the socket, you'd have a shocking experience. Are you with me?
That's what happened to her. And she came in the press.
She said, I'm going to touch his clothes, and when
I touch his clothes and I'm going to behold. Now,
I'm not saying that this is the only way that
(14:41):
the norning's transferred, because the knowing is also transferred when
you preach. The knowning is transferred as you sing are
you with me? Peter Shadow passion over people that were healed.
But this would be I would say, the number one
way in the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, and
the number one way that God actually allowed me to
(15:03):
begin to first transfer for the annoying. And he talked
me about the ling on of hands and the power
of the annoyting by the ling on of hands.
Speaker 9 (15:13):
All right, a lot of stuff we can unpack in
that clip. We can talk about for sure. First of all,
the woman with the issue of blood that touched Jesus's
garment did not receive an anointing. She received healing. Okay,
that's not the anointing. And Rodney Howard Brown unbiblically says
(15:38):
or claims that it was kind of like a point
of contact, an electric shock, like you would put your
your finger in a lamp socket and get shocked. As
if that's what happened to her. Folks, you've read the story,
read it in context. Nothing like that happened at all.
She got healed. She didn't receive an annoying. She got healed.
(16:01):
She said, if I just touch the hem of his garment,
and what did Jesus say, power went out of me? Yeah,
But that's what they try to use. They say, oh,
that's that's the anointing. That's not the anointing, all right.
She had faith, she believed if she just touched the
hem of his garment she would be healed, and she
was healed. That's not the anointing. So anyway, this idea
(16:25):
that the anointing is transferable is just not something that
is true. Again, we're gonna get to that, but we've
got to keep moving along here because now we're gonna
be talking about the anointing being something you can feel,
like Perry Stone says, watch this clip.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
So the anointing is tangible, and the annointing can be
found what you're feeling now, and I can tell I
can see it on you. That's not emotion. Don't miss
don't misunderstand, that's anointing. I have been to the Super
Bowl when they're getting ready, they're getting ready to win,
and I'm a Patriots fan at that time, and I
getting ready to win, and so I watch as they
(17:06):
score and they win, and my hair stands up just
like it does in church. But I happen to know
that was not the anoying. It's the same part of
my body that gets excepted, go study how you get goosebump, goosebump?
So what if you want to call him that? It's
really interesting. So it's the same effect, but it's not
(17:27):
the same source. So watch this what the enemy knows.
He knows how to give you an effect that feels good,
but he doesn't have the right source. And here's the
reason why you're high from him will come and go.
(17:50):
He'll pick you up and drop you down.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
That night.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
At night you're up. By the morning you're down. But
I'm telling you, at night he's still with me.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
In the morning, he's still with me.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
When I sing this as a day the Lord has made,
he's still with me. Because it is not about any
emotional high. It's about the most high. And it's because
the annoying abds in me, and that annoying can stir
me up any time, any place, anywhere.
Speaker 12 (18:26):
Sha.
Speaker 9 (18:27):
So Perry Stone says, it's not about an emotional high. Yes,
it is about an emotional high. He says in the
beginning of the clip that you know I can see this,
I can see you. This is an emotion. You know
I know I can tell How does he know? How
does he know that that's exactly what this is. This
(18:47):
is all about emotion. Watch the meetings. Look at what happens.
How's rolling on the floor, laughing, acting like you know,
crazy people. Not an emotional high. And here's a big
danger of this when you are seeking after an emotional high. Eventually,
(19:08):
and I say eventually, you're gonna have to the the
the highs are going to get fewer and far between,
and so it's just it's just this constant roller coaster.
It's this constant hamster wheel that you're that you're on.
You're just chasing this emotional high. You feel good for
a little bit, you go home, and then the cares
(19:31):
of life come in and the emotional high is gone, right,
and so now you got to seek it again. The
anointing isn't an emotion. The anointing isn't something that can
always be felt, all right. I'm not saying that there's
not emotion when it comes to the anointing at all.
I'm not saying that. But it's not about, you know,
(19:54):
chasing this constant feeling or mystical experience. It's just not
about that. So that's Perry Stone, but there are others
that teach the same thing because Apparently, the anointing can
actually come on you and you can experience it. You
can feel it when you're just doing your every day
(20:16):
task like ironing.
Speaker 12 (20:18):
Watch one time I was getting ready to minister at
a church in Chicago. We actually were doing our service
there and before the service, get this. I'm just ironing
my shirt for the service that night. And as I'm ironing,
sometimes the Holy Spirit does this to me. As I'm ironing,
this heavy weight of the glory of God comes into
the room and I feel this tangible touch of his presence,
(20:43):
like a strong sense of the glory of God in
the room, and I can feel him on my physical body.
When I feel the annoying kame onmie real real heavy,
I get very very steel and I sometimes even start
to rock back and forth, almost like there are ocean
waves that are moving me back and forth. And I
can literally feel this weight on me. And it was
so beautiful, like it was a beautiful, heavenly Jesus centered experience,
(21:07):
and I loved it. And so I'm saying, Lord, I
want to take this to the service tonight and minister
under this.
Speaker 9 (21:15):
So yeah, just just your every normal day tasks, this
anointing can just can just follow on you. Now, here's
what's really interesting about this video. David Diga Hernandez actually
says that, you know, after he leaves the room where
(21:38):
he's ironing his clothes, he was just had this great feeling,
this wonderful piece, this great just you know, ready and
filled with power and ready to minister. But as he
was going past the television and past conversations, the anointing
began to weaken. So apparently, if you get distracted, get distracted,
(22:01):
that anointing can weaken.
Speaker 12 (22:04):
Watch and so what began to happen is there were
some distractions in the room, like with the TV. I
had to turn it off, and I'm just worshiping. I
get ready, I go down to the lobby. I met
Steve and a few of the ministry team members down
in the lobby, and I get there. They're all just
having these casual conversations, not talking about anything that's particularly evil.
I mean, they were talking about like sports and where
(22:24):
they were going to go eat after the service, things
like that. But I remember that as I was standing
there hearing this chatter, that sensation that I sensed on
my body began to weaken, almost like a blanket that
was being lifted again. The annoying was not being taken
from me, but the realization the sense of that tangible
touch of God's presence was dissipating.
Speaker 9 (22:46):
It was weakening.
Speaker 12 (22:47):
So I go back to where the guys were standing
and I tell Steve, Steve listen. And we had Uber
drivers back then. I said, Steve, listen, I'm gonna put
my headphones on. I need you to talk to the
Uber drivers so we don't seem like we're a bunch
of rude people. And I'm not gonna talk to anybody.
I just need to focus. So I sat in the
back seat and I'm just staring at the seat in
front of me, have worship music playing. I don't always
(23:09):
do this. You probably think that's strange, but that's what
I had to do to protect whatever it was I
was sensing. And so I'm just kind of rocking in
this wave of the annoying and I'm just sensing this
on my physical being. And as I look out the window,
I saw signs for restaurants, advertisements for like lawyers, and
very very harmless or seemingly harmless things. And I remember
(23:29):
just sitting there in the back seat just looking at
some promotion for like ten percent off, you know, chicken
and family family meal. Just the mundane, everyday surroundings of
the world began to weaken this power that I was
sensing on my body.
Speaker 9 (23:47):
All right, So what does the Bible actually say about
the anointing? Folks? It's really not that difficult. It's quite simple,
to be honest. Yes, there is power in the anointing.
But when you realize what the anointing actually is, then
of course there's power in the anointing. So what does
(24:08):
the Bible actually say about the anointing. Well, first of all,
the anointing is the in dwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
That is what the anointing is. The anointing is that
is the Holy Spirit, and each one of us have
(24:31):
the Holy Spirit. That's the anointing. It happens at the
moment of conversion. We'll talk about that, but that's exactly
what the anointing is. So let's take a look at
a passage of scripture here. First, John two twenty six
through twenty seven. I write these things to you about
those who are trying to deceive you. But the anointing
that you received from Him abides in you. You have
(24:55):
no need that anyone should teach you. But as His
anointing teaches you about every and is true and is
no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him.
And then we have one John two twenty. But you
have been anointed by the Holy One, and you have
all knowledge. Now we'll get to what that means when
(25:18):
we say all knowledge. But the anointing is also given
to every believer at conversion. So the Anointing being the
Holy Spirit, he is given to every single Christian the
moment they are converted. So we have Second Corinthians one
twenty through twenty two. For all the promises of God
(25:43):
find yes, find their yes in Him. That is why
it is through him that we utter our amen to
God for his glory. And it is God who establishes
us with you in Christ and has anointed us, and
who has also put his seal on us and given
us His Holy Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
(26:07):
So the anointing in these passages is not a mystical force,
a second blessing, or an emotional experience. It is a
synonym for the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit given
to every single Christian. Now we look at this again.
It's the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. It's given
(26:30):
to every single believer at conversion. Okay, And the anointing
is permanent. It's not some mystical force that just comes
and goes. And we have Ephesians one thirteen through fourteen
that says in him you also when you heard the
(26:51):
Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation, and believed
in him, we're sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who
is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession
of it, to the praise of His glory. So the
Holy Spirit doesn't lift off a believer like in the
(27:13):
case of Saul, which was a unique Old Testament judgment
and the New Covenant. The Holy Spirit abides, He dwells
permanently with all believers. And you can see John fourteen
sixteen through seventeen where Jesus tells that to his disciples.
So the anointing is the dwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
(27:35):
It's given to every single believer at conversion. If you're
a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit. The anointing is permanent.
It's not some kind of mystical force that comes and goes,
and the anointing gives understanding of truth. So the Holy
Spirit helps us to understand truth. Now we have a
(27:57):
very big passage to read here, but I wanted to
read First John two nineteen through twenty seven in its contacts,
and this is what it says. And this is John
talking about the false teachers, by the way, which is
why First John was written. First John was written to
combat the false teaching of proto gnosticism. Okay, that was
(28:21):
infiltrating the church, and they were saying things like, well,
Jesus really wasn't in a body, He had more of
a spiritual body. But that's not what John says. But anyway,
let's read First John two nineteen through twenty seven. They
went out from us talking about the false teachers. They
went out from us, but they were not of us.
(28:43):
If they had been of us, they would have continued
with us. But they went out that it might be
complained that they all are not of us. But you
have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all
have knowledge. I write to you not because you do
not know the truth, but because you know it, and
because no lie is of the truth. He who is
(29:04):
the lie, who is the liar. But he who denies
that Jesus is the Christ, this is the Antichrist. He
who denies the Father and the Son. No one who
denies the son has a father. Whoever confesses the son
has the Father. Also, let what you heard from the
beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the
beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in
(29:26):
the Son and in the Father. And this is the
promise that he made to us eternal life. I write
these things to you about those who are trying to
deceive you. But the anointing that you received from Him
abides in you. And you have no need that anyone
should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about
everything and is true and is no lie, just as
(29:47):
it taught you, abide in him. So you have the
false teachers that were denying the bodily resurrection of Christ.
They were just you know. And John is combating these teachers.
Nan is not saying here you don't need teachers, by
the way, because John is teaching them right. And the
apostle Paul talks about teachers and the gift of teaching.
(30:10):
And we have the the the New Christians in the
Book of Acts, you know, being under the apostles teaching,
and we have the Apostle Paul talking about pastors teaching
right doctrine and the importance of right doctrine. So John
is not talking here or saying here that you don't
(30:30):
need teachers. The Holy Spirit's just gonna teach you. That's
not what he's saying. What he's saying here is you
don't need some kind of uh, mystical download or direct revelation.
You have been given the Holy Spirit. You have that anointing.
(30:51):
Therefore he teaches you what is truth. Let's move on
and to show that John explicitly links the annoying to
spiritual discernment and understanding of the truth, particularly in contrast
to the false teachers. So again, the anointing is the
indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The anointing is given
(31:12):
to every believer at conversion. If you're a Christian, you
have the anointing. The anointing is a permanent, not a
mystical force that comes and goes. This anointing gives us
understanding of truth, and the anointing flows from union with Christ.
The true Anointed one we have again we go right
(31:35):
back to Second Corinthians one twenty and twenty two. For
all the promises of God find there, yes and him.
That is why it is through Him that we utter
our aimen to God for his glory. And it is
God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has
anointed us, and who has also put his seal on
us and given us His spirit in our hearts as
(31:57):
a guarantee. So this tax explicitly links three things. It
first of all, links being in Christ or union with Christ.
It links being anointed, and it links being sealed with
the Holy Spirit. You see all three things in that text.
(32:19):
So we look at Galatians three thirteen through fourteen. Christ
redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming
a curse for us. Grit is written cursed is everyone
who is hanged on a tree, so that in Christ Jesus,
the blessing of Abraham might come to the gentiles, so
that we might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.
(32:43):
So the Holy Spirit comes to us the moment we
believe we receive the anointing. The Holy Spirit again is
the anointing, I'm sorry again, is the indwelling presence of
the Holy Spirit. We receive him the moment we believe.
Those who are in Christ by faith receive the Holy Spirit,
(33:05):
not by seeking a second anointing or multiple anointings like
the ox anointing or the Benefactor anointing. They received the
anointing through believing the Gospel. So we go through the
same thing again and then your Testament. The anointing is
the presence of the Holy Spirit. The anointing is given
(33:26):
to every believer at conversion. The anointing is permanent, not
a mystical force that comes and goes. The anointing gives
understanding of truth. The anointing flows from union with Christ,
who is the true anointed One. And finally, the annointing
is not transferable or for sale folks like we saw
with Rodney Howard Brown and the Laughing Revival, or Kenneth
(33:48):
Hagen and his Shenanigans and his meetings. But we see
a warning here and Acts eighteen eight eighteen through twenty
now when Simon saw that the spirit this is Simon
the magician right and Acts chapter eight now, when Simon
saw the Spirit was given through the laying on of
(34:10):
the apostles hands he offered them money, saying, give me
this power also so that anyone on whom I lay
my hands may receive the Holy Spirit. But Peter said
to him, may your silver perish with you, because you
thought you could obtain the gift of God with money.
So we've talked about this before. If you go through
(34:31):
the Book of Acts, you don't see your everyday Christian
laying hands on people to receive the Holy Spirit or
to receive the anointing. No, it was the apostles. Philip
was doing all kinds of miracles there in Samaria, people
were being converted. But rather than him lay his hands
(34:51):
on people to receive the Holy Spirit, because he couldn't,
the apostles were called, and the apostles came out, and
they laid their hands on people, and they received the
Holy Spirit from the apostles themselves. Even Philip and Steven
Acts chapter six received their spiritual gifts from the apostles,
(35:11):
all right. So you don't see every Christian in the
Book of Acts or in the New Testament at all
being able to do that. As a matter of fact,
even in the story of Dorcas where she dies and
they call I can't remember what chapter the Book of
Acts is I'm going off the top of my head.
But where she dies and what do they do? Do
(35:33):
they raise her from the dead? No, they call Peter,
and Peter comes in and Peter prays and he raises
her from the dead. You don't see your normal everyday
Christian doing this. That's because the anointing is not transferable.
The anointing is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
The idea of imparting the anointing like a commodity is
(35:55):
explicitly rebuked. The Spirit is sovereignly given, not transferred by man,
and certainly not bought or sold. So, folks, I hope
this episode was helpful. I hope it clears up some
confusion about the anointing and what the anointing actually is.
And if you've benefited from this, I would ask that
(36:16):
you pass it along, that you share this video. God
bless you, Lord Willing.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
We'll see you next week.
Speaker 9 (36:23):
Thanks for watching.
