Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Long for Truth podcast. I'm Robin Long.
Join my husband Dan and I as we explore the
roots of the early Pentecostal and Charismatic movements and we
shine a light on false doctrines and false teachers in
the modern church. Let's get started.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hello everyone, welcome Along for Truth. My name is Daniel Long.
Thank you for joining me. Well, the scandal continues and
we have more information about the day Star television scandal.
This time it concerns Jimmy Evans and Jimmy Evans trying
to manipulate Jonathan and Susie Lamb to accept the marriage
(00:41):
of Joni and Doug Weiss, which they didn't want to
do because they believe that the marriage is unbiblical. Just
I don't know, a couple of months after Marcus Lamb's death,
divorced his wife, left his wife, and then soon married Joni,
which is you know, that's yeah, that's not fishy at all.
(01:08):
But anyway, the point is is that Jimmy Evans is
part of this what I would call day Star Television mafia,
this group of people that just want money, power and control.
That's exactly what it is now. The Rory's Report we're
(01:29):
going to look at in just a moment. But the
Roy's Report put out a video clip of a recorded
conversation between Jonathan Lamb, Joni's son, and Jimmy Evans take
a listen well at.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Day Star TV. Jonathan and Susie Lamb claimed that they
were spiritually abused by Jonathan's mother, day Star president, Joni Lamb,
and her close allies. This included Jimmy Evans, founder of
Exo Marriage in July twenty twenty three, and Susie refused
to read a listener comment praising Joni's recent marriage to
sex therapist Doug Wise. The couple objected to the marriage,
(02:07):
believing that Wise lacked biblical grounds for divorcing his wife,
but an audio obtained by The Roy's Report, Evans pressures
the couple to submit to Joni, claiming she has godlike authority.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
And submission means she's the voice of God to you
and I'm sorry, can you clear?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
She said, she's a voice of God to me, So
I have to hear.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I can hear from God from her outside of day
stark Well, she says, is God in they start, This.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Is the voice of God in the So what accountability?
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Does she has if she's.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Got us, she has a board. Yeah, but you're not
and visually you're not her accountability and visually you're her employment.
All right, that's part of the audio recording. Now, that's
all that I could find as far as the audio goes.
But we do have a transcript of a bunch more
(02:58):
of the recording in the the latest Roy's Report article,
which we are going to take a look at. Now,
you need to know that it wasn't just Jimmy Evans
that was part of this conversation between Jonathan and Susie
was there as well. Jonny was also sitting at the table.
(03:19):
And some of the things that they say is it's
downright just.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Evil.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
I know I use that a lot, but that's exactly
what it is. These people are our spiritual abusers. Now,
I'm gonna point out some things as we look at
this conversation, but I want to say in advance that
I am hoping that this situation, because day Star is
(03:50):
it is a hodgepodge of false teaching. It is filled
with heresy and heretics that are on that program. You,
Kenneth Copeland, Benny hen.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Uh I.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I I mentioned before Andrew Womack, Jesse du Plantis, Perry Stone.
You're not gonna get solid teaching there at day Star
Television Network. I can promise you that. But let's uh,
let's go ahead and look at the article, because the
(04:26):
article has the transcript of the conversation, or at least
I don't know if it's the full conversation, but it's
a whole lot more than what's on the clip I
just showed you. And then we'll also take a look
at just some of Joni's statement, because she made a
statement and put that out as well. So let's take
(04:47):
a look at the article. All right, this is the
article right here, and uh, we're not going to read
the entire article because it's way too long, but I
want you to. I want to at least show you
the majorority of what that transcript says. Remember, at the meeting,
you have Jimmy Evans, Jony Lamb, and they're confronting Susie
(05:10):
and Jonathan and what are they confronting them about. They're
confronting them about Doug Weiss, Joni's new husband and their
marriage and publicly publicly for Jonathan or and Susie to
publicly come out and and be happy and promote their marriage,
(05:32):
and so you can you'll see them as the manipulation
as we go through this. So I'm gonna come down
here to this section. Right here. We are God's these guys. Yeah, yeah,
we are God's representatives. On the recording of the meeting,
Evan asked, Evans's Jimmy. Evans asked, let me highlight this
(05:52):
for you so you can see. On the recording of
the meeting, Evans asks Jonathan, if God came to you
right now and he is saying you made a mistake,
would you correct it? And that's exactly what's happening, of course,
without question. Jonathan requires replies, but you're not Evans says, no.
(06:18):
But God didn't appear, he didn't speak. Jonathan says, God
has spoken to you. Joni interrupts, he spoke to you
through me. He spoke to you through Jimmy. You're not God,
Jonathan says, But where God's representatives? Evans says, where God's representatives?
(06:43):
Jony repeats. Jony and Evans also appeal to their ministry
experience as a basis of their authority over Jonathan and Susie.
You've got eighty years of experience sitting right here talking
to you. Evan says, it's a spirit. It's a spirit
that you won't listen, not just to authority, but to experience.
(07:06):
Did you past her for forty one years with marriages?
Jony adds, I don't think so, you have a thumbnail
of experienced compared to us. Elsewhere in the meeting, Jonathan
inquires who has authority over Joni? What accountability does she
(07:28):
have if she's off? He asks, well, she has a husband,
she has a board. Evan says, I'm on the board.
Jonathan replies, at that time, the only people on Daystar's
board were Jonathan, Joni, and Tom Callender, a lawyer and
Joni's longtime friend. Jonathan told the Roy's report. So Jonathan
(07:49):
is asking a really solid question there. So Jony is
God's representative, Jony is the voice of godath and ask
what happens if Jonie's off? I mean, who's her who's
holding her accountable? He's right to ask that question now again.
I hope that this whole thing will cause Jonathan and
(08:12):
Susie Lamb to just totally cut ties completely with day
Star and find a good, solid church that teaches godly
biblical doctrine and not this this garbage that's being spewed
out of Daystar Tellivision. But getting back, I digress, getting
back to the topic, that is a fantastic question. Who
(08:36):
holds Joni accountable? Who holds her accountable? Well, Jonie is
hearing directly from God. Therefore Jonie's authority is God himself.
Except for the fact, how can we test what Jonie
or anybody who claims to speak from God is saying?
(08:57):
What accountability does she have if she's off he had, well,
she has a husband, she has a board. Evan says,
I'm on the board. Jonathan replies, at that time, the
only people on day Star board, on day Star's board
were Jonathan, Joni, and Tom Callender, a lawyer in Joni's
longtime friend. Jonathan told the roy's report. Yeah, but individually,
(09:17):
you're not her accountability. Individually, you're her employee. Evans insists
she's the voice of God in day Star. There's no
other accountability at day Star. Jonathan complains. Then Evans appeals
to scripture Romans thirteen tells us to submit to authority,
(09:39):
all authority, because it's established by God. Jonathan again, it objects, no,
but I'm saying, who is her accountability at day Star,
But that's not your concern, Evans asserts. Your concern is
to do what she says, and if you can't, you
(10:02):
can't be here. Then Jony interjects, tell him what the
Lord told you about stubbornness, what it leads to, what
the Bible says. This was related to Saul that rebellion
is the sin of witchcraft, Evan says, and stubbornness is
as iniquity and idolatry, and so it equates stubbornness with
(10:23):
being an idol worshiper. And the reason it does is
because stubbornness is the worship of your own opinion. And
that's what y'all are doing. And the y'all there, he
is referring to Susie as well, and that's what y'all
are doing. You're being stubborn, You're making an idol out
of your own opinion. Related to Doug Weiss elsewhere in
(10:48):
the meeting, Jony similarly accuses Jonathan of making his opinion
and idle and warns him of the consequences. God wouldn't
be pleased with this, Joni says, and you've opened up
yourself both of you to demonic activity in your family
(11:11):
and with your kids by your rebellion against me. So
you see there, how this is working. This is this
is this is what colts do, by the way, this
is what cult leaders do. All right. This is what uh,
this is what people who are trying to control others do.
(11:36):
They try to threaten you by saying things like this, Oh,
if you rebel against me, you're rebelling against God. Oh
if you rebel against me, you have a demonic spirit.
It's it's all about intimidation, and that's what's going on
(11:57):
here Jonathan and Susie of Jack saying it's not rebellion,
it is rebellion. Joni asserts, you'll bring a curse upon
you and your kids. At one point in the meeting,
Joni accuses Susie of being led by her feelings and
points to the sex to the abuse allegations from twenty
(12:20):
twenty one as an example of how unreliable Susie's feelings are.
We have to talk about that one more time, because
if you remember, in the last video, I read a
little portion from the previous article from the Roy's report
about the abuse, the the horrible abuse that happened between
(12:47):
a staff member. I believe it was a staff member
of Day Star, and that their their their daughter, Susie
and Jonathan's daughter, the Lamb's granddaughter. At that time, Marcus
was still alive. And what did Jonie say? God spoke
(13:07):
to her and told her and they the article the
Royer's report named the perpetrator Pete because there were no uh,
there were no charges yet, so they didn't use his name.
But so Joni says, God told me. God spoke to
me and told me last night that Pete was innocent
(13:29):
of all charges, I mean, and so we have to trust.
There's nothing there's nothing there that you can you You
can't do what the Bareans did and test what Paul
(13:51):
was saying the scripture. You can't do that with this
incident because there's nothing to test it with. What do
you test it with? You can't. There's nothing there. And
so you just have to look at Joni and say, yeah, no,
you're full of garbage. God didn't speak to you, and
(14:11):
why wouldn't he Just you know, I'm sure that Jonathan
and Susie, being a part of day Star, believe that
God could have spoken to them just the same and
told them just that. Why Jony, nothing to test it with,
nothing to test that stuff with. Now, this is Jonie
speaking here on this part and I and she's speaking
(14:33):
at the table here. She says there was an issue
with and she names a family member and I'm not
going to tell you that because I know they wouldn't
want me to share it, Jonie tells Evans. But Susie
was completely convinced, and Jonathan was completely convinced that family
member was doing something that he absolutely that he absolutely
(14:55):
was innocent of, and it was a terrible thing to
happen in our family. But she drove that thing for
a lot. It's the same thing. It's exactly the same.
So I whether or not that family member is on
staff at day Star, that I'm not sure of, but
that so I might have misspoke there and said it
(15:15):
was a staff member, it was actually a family member.
So the conflict reaches let's move here. The conflict reaches
a crescendo fifteen minutes later, with Jony and Susie going
head to head about Susie refusing to read the viewer comment. Okay,
so evidently there was a viewer comment that Susie was
(15:41):
supposed to read on the air. This viewer comment was.
This viewer was commenting about the marriage of Joni and
Doug and how happy she was about it. So the
conflict reaches a crescendo fifteen minutes later, with Joni and
Susie going head to head about Susie refusing to read
(16:02):
the viewer comment. If I'm not comfortable, then I have
to stick with my convictions, Susie tells Johnny quote. It's
not your right to agree or disagree with it. Joni
tells Susie. If a viewer has a comment about me,
or you or anybody else, it's a nice comment. That's
a good thing to read it. It doesn't have anything
(16:23):
to do with you. You're reading a viewer comment. I'm
representing it. It's a lie. Susie says, you're not representing anything.
Jenny replies, I'm I'm reading it. Susie says, it's not
a lie. It's not a lie. Jeny objects, it's a
(16:44):
lie if I say something I don't believe. Susie replies,
it has nothing to do with you. It's a viewer comment.
It's not a Susie comment. It's a viewer comment. Joni says,
I can't remember my convict. I'm sorry. I can't go
against my convictions. In that, Susie says, don't come back.
(17:05):
Then Jenny replies, you're gone. You're fired. If you can't
read a nice comment about Doug, I don't want you here.
You won't do the green Room. Jonathan and Susie show
on Day Star, you won't do anything. After Susie is fired,
Jimmy and Jony turn their attention to Jonathan, asking if
(17:25):
he'd read the comment if asked to do so again repeatedly,
Jonathan asked Jony to respect his wishes. All I want
to hear is that you'll submit to my authority. Joni says,
that's all. I don't want to hear anything else. I
don't want to hear about your personal convictions. Jonathan says
he will submit to Jony, But when Evan's asks if
(17:48):
that means Jonathan would read the comment if asked to
read it today, there's a long pause. Then Evan says, see,
now you're in trouble with her. Susie objects to be
being made some bad guy. Then Joni says, you are bad, Susie.
You've got him by the you know it, babe. They're
(18:10):
really scaring me, Susie says to Jonathan, they think horrible things.
I've got you by the who talks like this. You
give him a look, Jonie says, I give him a
look of pity, like you're concerning. You're cornering him. This
is so evil. What's happening? Susie replies, No, what is
(18:32):
evil is you. Joni says, what's evil is you and
the spirit that's driving you. At the end of the meeting,
Susie appears to leave the room, leaving Jonathan alone with
his mom and Evans. Jony encourages Jonathan to draw the
line in the sand with Susie. You're gonna pay hell
(18:54):
for what. You're gonna pay hell for it by stand
your ground. Jonathan tells us mother that he and Susie
are on the same page, but she appears not to
hear what he said. You're going to catch hell, so
you handle her, Joni says, you're her covering handle her. Then,
(19:16):
speaking to Evans, Joni says, this is going to be
his Alamo, so he's going to handle it and handle
her or not. But I can tell him this will
probably decide your leadership role at day Star and how
you handle that after the meeting. Let's go down there.
(19:39):
After the meeting, Jonathan wrote an email to Joni that
he felt trapped in an impossible position. Things are completely
out of hand. I never thought of my life I
would be put in this position. We urgently need to
meet about this matter. Joni replied that for now, peril
isn't being affected and she would let Jonathan know when
(20:00):
she's ready to meet on the issue. Over the next
eighteen months, Jonathan and Susie say the intimidation and threats
from day Star intensified, culminating in Jonathan's termination from day
Star on November sixteenth, twenty twenty four, and the statement
released this afternoon, Jony accuses Jonathan Jonathan of fabricating a
(20:23):
smear campaign because he was not named future president of
day Star following the death of his father. Jony also
accused Jonathan of attempting to blackmail his way into becoming
the future president of day Star, and released a portion
of an email from Jonathan. We remain willing to put
this episode behind us. However, we also require security, transparency
(20:45):
and certainty about the futures of day Star. To achieve
this goal, we would suggest that Jony, day Star, and
ourselves enter into a new contract that clearly spells out
my future role as president of day Star restricts the
ability of Joni or any other officer or director from
taking actions adverse to our employment without good cause, to
(21:08):
be clearly defined and without prior approval of a majority
of the board of directors. In exchange for the agreement
contemplated above, we will agree to use, disseminate, or otherwise
publish any and all audio recordings that could be harmful
or embarrassing to day Star, Jony, or our family. According
(21:29):
to Jonathan and Susie, the commitment not to publish audio
recordings was not blackmail, but a response to thirteen stipulations
day Star gave the couple. Thirteen stipulations day Star gave
the couple if they wanted to be reinstated to their
previous positions of day Star. One of the stipulations asked
(21:50):
for the couple to agree to destroy all recordings of
meetings with Jimmy Evans and Jony, and any recording of
Jony talking privately with Joni and Susie over refusal to
read on air. Jonathan added that this reference to his
future role of president of day Star was not an
(22:11):
attempt to usurp his mother's position. Instead, he was referring
to the succession plan his father had outlined that if
Joni passes or retires, that Jonathan would become president. However,
and this is the part I want you to really see. However,
both Jonathan and Susie noted that these negotiations happened before
November eighteenth, twenty twenty three, when Denise Bogs revealed to
(22:33):
them that the internal investigation had not cleared their family
member of molesting their daughter. At that point, the couple
say they no longer cared about their jobs, but they
wanted justice. But folks, that's not all because Joni put
out a public statement. Now this is a long statement.
I'm going to play the entire clip, but I say long,
(22:54):
it's about two and a half minutes something like that.
But listened to just listen to how she portrays herself
in day Star in this clip.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Watch, Hello everyone. I wanted to take a few minutes
today to speak from my heart to the day Star
family and friends. Recently, day Star made the decision determinate
my son Jonathan Lamb's employment that decision was not taken lightly.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
It followed a.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Fifteen month review of Jonathan's performance and his refusal to
take any steps to satisfy a detailed performance improvement plan
put in place. He also refused my offer to participate
in a formal mediation to resolve grievances in a biblical
and professional manner, rather than take any steps to improve
his performance at day Star. It seems clear now that
(23:46):
Jonathan was focused on fabricating a smear campaign. You see,
Jonathan was extremely disappointed that he was not named the
future president of day Star following the death of his
father and my husband, Marcus lamb Bite. The fact that
Marcus had given a clear directive to the family and
to the board that I would succeed him as president.
(24:08):
Jonathan's disappointment in not getting his way only deepened when
I married doctor Doug Wise, who has been such a
blessing to me, the rest of my family and day Star.
I can tell you that as a mother, as a grandmother,
the situation saddens me deeply and it grieves my heart
because I love my family, I love all my children,
(24:29):
I love my grandchildren, I love the work we've done
together for so many years, and I had hoped that
we could have resolved this situation in private, but now
Jonathan has given me no choice except to speak out.
Everyone knows that we have dedicated our lives to spreading
the love of Jesus, and to see it attacked by
(24:50):
my son Jonathan and his wife is truly heartbreaking. I
want to assure you that all the allegations that are
circulating against myself and my late husband are completely false.
We have already begun to take legal steps to defend ourselves,
and we will address the accusations in a God honoring way.
(25:11):
We stand firm in our faith, knowing that God is
with us and His purpose for day Star is far
greater than any present challenge we may be facing. While
this attack is very painful and wrong, I know that
our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against
a spiritual enemy who seeks to destroy and divide, no
(25:31):
matter what the cost. I want to ask you for
your prayers. Thank you for your continued love and support.
Our team here at day Star will keep you updated. Again.
Thank you for your prayers. God bless you.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
So let me ask you did you find that statement?
Since here, let's go over it a bit. I've got
the trans script right here. She said. The decision was
not taken lightly. It followed a fifteen month review of
Jonathan's performance and his refusal to take any steps to
(26:05):
satisfy a detailed performance improvement plan put in place. No, no, no.
From all I can tell and all I can see,
this was Look, this is a woman. Think about this, folks.
This is a woman that wanted to cover up the
(26:29):
horrible abuse that was that happened to her granddaughter. How
is that? How is that even even a good thing?
And this is how it's covered up or or this
is how it's it's it's to be pushed under the rug,
so to speak. Because God says Pete is innocent. God
(26:51):
says the alleged abuser is innocent. God tells Joni this.
So of course, folks, this is just I don't even
know how to comment on that and be nice, because
there's nothing nice you can say about this woman. That's
what this is about. She doesn't want this to come out.
(27:12):
She's calling this a smear campaign. This is not a
smear campaign at all. This is the truth coming out,
and she is trying to say face. She says, I
can tell you that as a mother, as a grandmother,
the situation saddens me deeply and grieves my heart because
(27:34):
I love my family. I love all my children, I
love my grandchildren. If she loved her children, she wouldn't
be she wouldn't be making this statement, and she would
get the protection. She would take the word of her
granddaughter over over her desire to well stay in the
(27:59):
money and stay as you know, keep day Star's good name,
good name. It's you know, to them anyway, to keep
day Star from you know, being a part of another scandal.
So folks, it's all about the money. This stuff angers
me and it really frustrates me. And I hope, I
(28:23):
really hope that people will that are that are giving
to this this network of evil people will stop giving
and see all of the videos that are being put
out about day Star in this particular scandal, and they
will realize, wait a minute, what am I doing. They'll
(28:43):
repent of giving to this evil station. They'll repent of
following this false doctrine that's being spewed there, and they'll
start reading their Bibles and hopefully, uh get in a
good solid church and get some good teaching. Anyway, I'm rambling,
but I'm really frustrated, as you can tell. Anyway, Folks,
(29:07):
that's the latest. If there's any more news that comes out,
I'll do my very best to update you on that
as well. Thanks for watching.
