(00:33):
Well, good morning, good morning, good morning to you. And I'm
sure for many of you, especiallyif you were one grew up in the
sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties, that tune that I opened up just
now with is familiar to you.And I opened up with that. You
know, it's based on a conversationI was having with my aunt last night

(00:55):
in terms of do you ever feellike we're in the Twilight Zone? And
so I was teasing her last nightI said, you know what, I'm
gonna open the show up tomorrow morningwith the Twilight Zone theme. And sure
enough, that's what I just did. I opened up with the theme from
that old show, the Twilight Zone, because honestly and all honesty, I

(01:18):
honestly feel like Rod Serling is goingto pop out somewhere and say you have
entered the Twilight Zone, because that'sthe way it seems like. It seems
like that's exactly where we are inthat we are in the Twilight Zone.
If you don't know who you're listeningto, this is your hosts Mark Medley.

(01:38):
We come to you most Saturdays livehere from six to nine am,
right here on Brave New Radio ongo Brave dot org. And so again.
And when I say about, youknow, feeling like being in the
twilight zone. And I'm not anews junkie anymore. At one point I
did used to religiously come on,come home, and flick on CNN immediately.

(02:00):
I haven't done that now in nearlythree years, but I do keep
up with what's going on between socialmedia as well as a few news apps
that I have on my phone.I will scan them, and as I
scan those, it is absolutely amazingof the events that are occurring around the

(02:23):
world. And so that's why youknow, I'm gonna do it. In
a couple of minutes, I'm gonnakick off the show reading from the two
Jan VanZant books. I'm gonna kickoff reading from them because we have to
have some positivity in a very negativeworld. And when I say very negative

(02:44):
world, I mean very negative world. So I am going to open up
with my opening song of something goodis going to Happen to You. I'm
gonna go ahead and put that backon and open up with that so that
my spirit can be encouraged that somethinggood is going to happen to us.

(03:06):
Because if you really look around youand you're really awake and you're aware of
everything that's going on. I havea feeling I'm not the only one who
feel like we must be in someother world. We must be in the
Twilight Zone. So Anthony Brown, now I started to show off with the

(03:27):
Twilight Zone theme, because even withall that said, there are times when
I actually feel as if I amin the Twilight Zone. I sit here
because as I told you, Idon't turn on the television, so I
don't watch the news on television, but I will scan the various news apps
and I can very quickly skim youknow, the article or the title of

(03:51):
the hitting or what have you.And it is amazing to me the significant
number of people who are willing toput a thug back in the White House.
That's the only descriptive that I cancome up with. I don't know
about anybody else. I can't speakfor anybody else, but when you start
looking at the behaviors, the words, the tone, what's being said,

(04:16):
how it's being said, that's nothingbut a thug. Let's be real,
let's call it what it is.We have a significant amount of people who
are willing to put a thug backin the White House. Now, that's
not to say we haven't had thugsin the White House before, but not
to this degree, not to thislevel, all right, Just a straight

(04:39):
up thug that you have so manypeople willing to put back in the highest
office in the land amazes me.That's why I say, that's one of
the reasons I feel like I'm inthe twilight zone, Like, am I
the only one seeing it this way? And am I the only one that's
kind of processing what's going on here? That's a straight up thug? And

(05:00):
yet if that thug was of adifferent skin color, there's no way in
the world that thug would have gottenthat far. That's what I'm talking about
in the twilight zone. You couldhave a pristine, non thug of a
different skin color that would have stillwound up being lambasted, probably imprisoned,
or what have you certainly not supportedat very least, certainly not supported pristine

(05:28):
record, and yet you have analmost for the most part, most likely
could have and you never know becausethis is twilight zones. It made me
not convicted thug that has an opportunityto chance to maybe wind back up in
the White House again. So thatkind of blows me. Away. So
now I'm in a meeting the otherday and the person who was leading the
meeting, we were talking about youknow, you know, education systems and

(05:53):
everything's going on in the world, and she says, there are over twenty
one wars going on in the world. Now there's the one in the Middle
East, is not the only onethat's going on. They are over twenty
one wars going on simultaneously around theworld. We hear about one or two
the big ones, but they arelike multiple wars going on around the world.

(06:15):
Again, I'm sitting there, likeam I in the Twilight Zone.
Then I continue to scan through theapps, and I see where P Diddy,
your young lady is now bringing alawsuit against P Diddy. Apparently she's
saying over the years, she's beenseriously abused by Diddy over the years in

(06:39):
multiple and various ways. I readthat because we already know what's happened with
Bill Cosby. Don't understand that.I already know what happened with R.
Kelly. Don't understand that. Andwhen I say don't understand it, I
don't mean I don't under I don'tmean I don't understand the consequences. I
don't understand why they were acting inthat behavior. I understand why people of

(07:01):
what they have would act the waythey were act and ultimately convicted of.
Because my thinking is this, ifyou get to that level, you don't
have to do all that to geta woman. If you get to that
level, you don't have to doall that to have any sex. If
you get to that level, youdon't have to do all that to have
anybody to hang around you. Ifyou don't have to do all of that,

(07:25):
because that's going to come with thenature of being a celebrity. I
mean, I have been, Ihave traveled. Back in the eighties,
my aunt was married to the cousinof George Gervin Iceman. For those of
you basketball buffs out there, youall know George Gervin during that time was

(07:45):
the man. This was prior toMichael Jordan. Maybe Jordan Jordan was a
pup whenever Girvin was older and aboutto retire. I think Michael had just
entered the league. But prior toMichael Jordan and all that, like Ice
Girvin and all these guys, theywere basketball. My aunt was married to
Iceman's cousin to George Gervin's cousin, and so whenever the Spurs would come to

(08:09):
town, we would go to thegame. Whether they played the Nets or
the Knicks, we would go tothe game and then had the opportunity to
hang out after the game with theballplayers. When I tell you, when
we would get to the hotel, the women that were flocking that lobby unreal.

(08:31):
When I tell you, I meanthe lobby as we would walk through
attempting to get to the various hotelrooms just to get from the door because
they had found out where the teamwas staying, to get from the door
to the registration desk, to theelevator, to get to the room wall

(08:56):
to wall women. I'm sharing thatstory to say there is no reason for
R. Kelly, Bill Cosby,P. Diddy accused for having to do
what they did because by nature ofbeing a ballplayer or an entertainer, an

(09:16):
actor, actress, what have you. By nature, women and sex flocked
to them. So I have tobe coursing somebody, drugging somebody, abusing
somebody doesn't make sense to me.Again, That's why I feel like I'm
in the twilight zone because I'm readingthis young lady's account of everything over the

(09:39):
years, Puff Daddy, P Diddy, Sean Combs, whatever he calls hisself,
has done, and it's just notmaking a whole lot of sense.
Now. Of course he's denying it, as they all do, and of
course they're saying, you know, she's just out to get paid, she's
just out to defame him, soforth and song. However, now this
young lady now that is coming outis now, just like in the Cosmic

(10:01):
case, and just like in ther Klly case, now others are coming
out with similar stories. So we'regonna kind of see where this goes as
well. We're gonna kind of seewhere this whole P Diddy story goes.
I honestly hope it's not true.I can't sit here and try to defend
either way. I can't defend her, I can't defend him. But I

(10:22):
hope it's not true to a certaindegree because P Diddy is again, this
is another one. Diddy is notstupid. Sean Comes is an educated man,
Shawn Colmes went to college, graduatedcollege, understands the business, knows
how to make money so far,so he's not stupid. Now, if
there's another side of him that folksdon't know or can't see that these women

(10:43):
are seeing. That's something a littlebit different. But I kind of hope
it's not true because it's not needed. Bill Cosby, I don't understand why
he would have needed to drug anyoneout. The question always comes up,
Well, these women knew what theywere getting into when they were hanging with
the celebrities. Obviously they wanted somethingto they want when it's something out of
the deal. The fact that theywere hanging with the Bill Cosby, or
the fact that they were hanging witha Rkla or the fact that they're hanging

(11:05):
with a P. Diddy, theywanted something out of the deal too.
That could be true. But stillnone of them deserved to be drugged.
None of them deserved to be abused, none of them deserved to be urinated
on. None of them deserved tobe all these crazy things that have come
out from these folks. That's whatI mean by twilight Zone. That's what

(11:26):
I'm talking about, is like, what world are we in? What planet
are we on where people do thingslike that to each other? Because I
posted on Facebook together you can't makeme believe and a lot of things.
What I'm talking about you. Ifyou follow me on Facebook, you'll have
seen the posts. But you cannotbut make me believe that people do not

(11:46):
know what they are doing when they'remistreating other people. I just don't believe
that you don't know that you're mistreatingsomebody else when you're doing that. Now.
I could be wrong again, becausewe don't word in the twilight Zone.
I could be wrong, but Ijust find it hard to believe that
you don't consciously know that you're mistreatingsomeone else. I've shared this story with

(12:13):
you all before in terms of mostof the time when students come to my
office has gotten into a conflict,I will pose the question, would what
you did to him? Because myschool's all boys, so it's always a
hymn. Would what you did tohim? Would you want someone to do
that to you? Just about onehundred percent of the time the answer comes

(12:35):
back no, okay, So youwouldn't want what you did to that child
done to you, yet you hadno problem doing it to him Again,
does not make sense to me,Twilight Zone. Maybe you know I'm probably
gonna use this time that I'm spendingwith you as my podcast, and I'm
gonna title it the twilight Zone.I think that's what I'm gonna do.

(12:58):
I'm gonna use what I'm saying rightnow and put that as a part of
my podcast, because this is theradio show, this is not the podcast.
But every now and again I willuse what I'm saying on the radio
show on the podcast, and viceversa. Sometime I will say on the
podcast, I'll use it here onthe radio show. But I think I
am actually going to use the chattime that I just had with you.
I think I'm actually going to usethat on the podcast, and I'm going
to tile it the twilight Zone becausethat's what I feel like I'm in.

(13:20):
As I sit here and I scanaround the world, as I take a
look on my news apps, asI see the significant amount of people who
are so willing to put a thugback in the White House. As I
sit around, I look at allthe different accusations of various people that there's
no way in the world they shouldhave to do it. And then I
get on the local level, Isee there's almost like a shooting in the

(13:41):
city almost daily, the city thatI was born and raised in. I
look and almost see that there's sometype of a shooting or a murder going
on daily. Actually, when Iwas out in Colorado last week, it
popped up on my phone another shootingin Patterson, New Jersey. I was
like, Wow, I'm way outhere in Colorado and I'm seeing a learning
about a shooting in Patterson, NewJersey. Almost a shooting daily. I

(14:05):
mean's almost sadly, and I domean sadly. Back to Twilight Zone again,
sadly, almost like wild West City. So yesterday I get a student
brought to my office. Teacher comesin. I already dealt with multiple issues
throughout the morning. I was tryingto get something down. I was trying
to focus on the email that Iwas sending to the superintendent, and everybody

(14:26):
kept tapping on my door. I'mtrying to focus because I wanted the words
to be right. I didn't wantany grammatical errors. I didn't want any
spelling errors. I didn't want anykind of errors because I'm sending it to
the superintendent. So I'm trying tofocus. Teacher taps on my door.
He comes in with his phone,So I got an issue for you,
and I tell him I don't wantto hear any issues right now, but
he says I say, all right, what is it? I'm playing with
him, but he pulls up hisphone. He shows me a screenshot of

(14:48):
a website a child in his classwas going to that was dealing with guns.
I immediately pulled the child down. And when I tell you, read
this child the Riot Act, Imean read child the Riot Act. And
he looks at me because I'm tellinghim, don't you think we have enough
killing going on in our city asit is? For you to be sitting

(15:09):
here looking up guns. I don'tcare if it's a toy gun, I
don't care if it's real gun.But for you to be sitting here on
a web page when you're supposed tobe studying something else, you're pulling up
a web page about guns, don'tyou think we have enough killing going on?
And he looks at me, Andthis is where I really like rate
him the Riot Act and I literallytold him I need it. Based on
that comment, I ought to putmy foot in your behind. But in
any events, he looks at meand he says, in the most innocent

(15:33):
little way, but that's not killing. So I had to explain to him,
no, son, you're not dealingfirst off, with a stupid person.
I know exactly what I said. No, it's not killing. However,
the thought process leads to killing. The fact that you're sitting here with

(15:54):
a gun on your mind, thefact that you're sitting here during class time
going to gun websites means that atsome point a gun is on your mind.
So the fact that a gun ison your mind means at some point
you were going to go out andeither try to purchase or order that toy
gun or a real gun, becauseeither one of them can get you killed.
Whether it's a toy gun or whetherit's a real gun, you could

(16:17):
wind up there. So after readinghim the riot Act, I showed him
the various YouTube videos of the TamirRice case because he and Tamir about the
same age, and I said, you understand, you need to understand,
son, I'm trying to save yourlife here. You need to understand.
So that same thing that you justsaw in that video with Tamir Rice,
don't you think that can't happen toyou? Don't you think that can't happen

(16:37):
here in Patison, New Jersey.Don't you think that that cannot happen near
you? Now, let's say youmake the argument, mister Medie, what's
a toy? Well that's what TamirRice got killed over. He got killed
over a toy. So, Imean, these are the kind of conversations
on having on like a daily basiswhere he GE's trying to change mins.
And that's why when you so,if you wonder were Minster Medley or Mark
why do you feel like you're inthe twilight Zone? As I started putting

(17:00):
all these things together, you can'thelp but wonder when is Rod Serling going
to pop out and say you've justentered or you are in the twilight Zone all
