(00:53):
Got a little Tiger's update to pass along and talk
about that, plus a Lion's Chiefs full recap. Sorry it's
sorry this is overnight, but anyway, also got Red Wings,
right and high. But first off are two disclaimers. Number one,
(01:18):
if you can't handle any news, stats, research, or criticism
regarding any of our teams, then stay completely away from
the show and it's comments section at all times. Disclaimer
Number two If you're too arrogant to learn anything, and
especially decide to be a homer, a stupid a stupid
party favorite clown and a tool you're app then you're
(01:38):
absolutely irrelevant to this podcast. I take I take sports
very seriously, HM, as you would as you would see,
because this is this is the Michigan sports truth, not satire,
not pop culture, just the truth. Nothing but the truth,
(02:01):
the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about sports
of the state of Michigan. So that being said, are
Tiger's Tribune. The Tigers extend their manager A. J. Hinch
to a to an undisclosed contract extension that means no
details provided yet by team president Scott Harrison, general manager
Jeff Greenberg, and owner Chris Ilich, the chiefs Gate Parking
(02:24):
Lot king. It kind of reminds me of Chris Ilich
signing then general manager back in July fifth, twenty nineteen.
Chris Silich, the sole owner of the Detroit Tigers franchise,
(02:47):
signed then general manager Alavila to an undisclosed multi year
contract extension and not get and doesn't do a damn
thing about, doesn't explain anything about it, and tells everyone
(03:12):
to be patient, which we never accept it obviously because
we all know Chris elig for what he really for
who and what he really is, So nothing to see there,
just meaning at least that is, you know, staying the same.
(03:41):
So with that being said, the Lions come up short
to the Kansas City Chiefs thirty to seventeen. And we're
all aware of the of everything that happened, the brawl,
(04:02):
the officiating, everything like everything else. But I want to
recap the full game and I want to handle I
want to handle it professionally. Okay, no need to argue
or pick fights. Let's just keep it reasonable, okay, please,
thank you. So that being said, I'm going to share
(04:23):
this screen right about now. Uh Jamir Gibbs seventeen carries
just sixty five yards, not quite one hundred? Do you have?
Montgomery only four carries, so not very many carries by
(04:57):
David Montgomery gives Ken somehow. Sometimes power is way through traffic,
but the run with speed for more yards. He has
to find holes that the Lions offensive line tries to
provide for him. And he got most of the carries
in the first half, and Golf took us and the
(05:26):
and the illegal shift penalty that negated the touchdown on
the opening drive for the Lions because of because of
an illegal shift and uh golf took a step forward
and then backwards before the in motion before the snap
(05:49):
on fourth and goal, and the Lions had to as
a result, suffered a five yard penalty and had to
settle for a chip shot twenty eight year field goal
by Baits. At least they didn't come up empty. That's
the positive side about That's the positive side about about that.
(06:12):
And the offense bounced back by scoring a touchdown Jared
gop delerting to Jamison Williams. M hm. And then I'm
un ross Saint Brown with another drop on fourth and two.
He's been dropping quite a few passes throughout the course
(06:34):
of the season. Yes, he's human, but he can play.
He can sure do better because he's because he's better
than that. Mm hmm. Some some can argue some some
can make it a value. Some can make a valid
argument that Saint Brown's drop on fourth and two turn
(06:55):
the turn the tables. And but here's the thing, the
defense didn't do much of their jobs either. That that
(07:19):
so yeah, and that did not help either. So mhmm.
You put those elements together, you have a recipe for
losing for losing this game. Sure, the officiating favoring Kansas City,
of course factored in, but it wasn't, but it wasn't
(07:41):
the main reason. Of course. The zero penalties, yeah, right there,
We all were all aware of that Lions only got
penalized for four times, but for thirty eight yards. But
for thirty eight yards. Yeah, and they were the right
(08:04):
calls though, but really just just four penalties at least
at least there weren't. They didn't commit eight or ten.
So obviously, statistics wise, it looked like a clean, a
(08:25):
clean game by both teams, especially the Chiefs. But yeah,
that we're aware that the Chiefs got away with a
few holds, with a few holding penalties which were which
were not called. But but if you're gonna but but
if you're going to blame the referees, of course you're
(08:49):
a whiny bitch, and you know it, grow up or
shove a silver spoon in your mouth or go to hell,
one of the two, because I don't need that, because
you're just having a defeated answer, and that's what I
don't tolerate here on this podcast. All right, grow the
(09:11):
fuck up, like right, now or stay off this damn show,
Stay off the stay out of the comments section, stay
out of the live chat. Is that fucking clear? Thank
you good, thank you? Don't even post a word. M
(09:37):
lines were zero for two on fourth down, so yeah,
they weren't just over one with a drop on Aman
Ross Saint Brown and the chief for two for three
on fourth down. That that defense, that Lion's defense just
(09:57):
got just got plowed absolutely total yards but by the
Chiefs three hundred and fifty five. Yeah, yeah, it's still
under four hundred, but it still could have been better.
Lions are two hundred ninety seven total yards. Time of possession. Oh,
(10:18):
that's damn close. Lions at twenty nine minutes twenty three seconds.
Time of possession of the football Chiefs thirty and thirty
seven thirty minutes, thirty seven seconds. That's really dangerously close
to even, to dangerously close to exactly even. And of
(10:55):
course Jared Goff twenty three of twenty nine for two
hundred three yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, only took one sack,
eighty four point one quarterback rating. That's good. These numbers
are These numbers are the zero interceptions of stat right,
there is good quarterback rating stat is good two hundred
(11:19):
three passing yards not too bad, not great, could be better,
but still at least decent, maybe even good. Patrick Mahomes,
of course, twenty two of thirty not quite, not necessarily perfect,
but two hundred fifty two hundred and fifty seven passing yards,
(11:41):
three touchdowns, took three sacks, including one by eight Hutchinson
a strip sack, but we recovered by Mahomes eighty one
point three quarterback rating. Sorry, I know something in my throat,
(12:07):
but I don't want to grow gross anyone out. Mm hmm.
But two hundred and fifty seven receiving yards especially allowed, Yeah,
because there was because the the secondary receiving defenders left
(12:28):
them all wide the fuck open. Travis Kelcey, Juju Smith Schuster,
Hollywood Brown, two touchdowns, both left wide fucking open, one
of the one of which in a play where three
(12:49):
defenders were all over Travis Kelcey, leaving Hollywood Brown all
alone cover fucking zero whatsoever on Brown. It's supposed to
be man to man, not not three on one. This
is I'm not even this is that was not even
a zone coverage. Okay, I don't want to I don't
(13:17):
want to argue with anyone about that. We clearly saw it.
M Xavier Worthy a familiar name, Kareem Hunt, no Noah Gray,
Brashard Smith m one hundred and twelve rushing yards out
(13:46):
rushed the Lions one hundred and twelve to ninety eight,
just almost even. Lions had two hundred three receiving yards
sixty six by Jamison Williams, Sam Laporta a touchdown, fifty
five receiving yards not bad, a'mon Ross Saint Brown forty
five nine catches on ten targets, including yeah, his only
(14:11):
drop was on the fourth and two play, obviously, Jamis
and Williams six catches out of seven targets. Sam la
Porto with a drop, Jamiir Gibbs with a drop. David
Montgomery didn't drop the ball at all. Two catches out
of two targets, which is perfect. Alexandeloni doing most of
(14:39):
the tackling as usual. Twelve total tackles, seven seven solo
Jamari Connor fourteen total tackles for the Chiefs. So Lions
punted the ball times both teams eight up clock of course,
(15:08):
So yeah, Brian branch is gonna serve a one game
suspension obviously for his slap. Not it's not technically a punch,
but it's still a slap to the helmet of Juju
Smith Schuster right after the final knee of the football game,
(15:29):
and they both went and they both physically went at
it went toe to toe. Mm hmm. Yeah. Still no
word on Juju Smith whether Jujus Smith Schuster should be disciplined,
But that's not that's not what I care. I don't
care about that. Bran Brian Branch, even if he did
(15:52):
have a case of being bullied, he still can't do that.
He's gonna learn learn discipline. That's the thing that matters.
You gotta be And and of course some would argue
it was an illegal block, but it was a hard
hit mm hmm. And I don't see anything illegal with
(16:23):
a hard hit being a block, to be quite honest.
So the Lions are actually heading to Tampa Bay. I
thought they had had the byweight next but they had
the bye week after the Buccaneers, which we will preview
on our next episode on the next episode of the
(16:44):
Michigan Sports Truth Podcast. That being said, another edition of
As the Wing Wheel Turns, the Red Wings complete the
Holman Road doubleheaders sweep of the Toronto Maple Leafs with
a three to two win at Scotia Bank Arena. So yeah,
(17:10):
we're gonna share the screen on those bad boys right here,
so brace yourself. Dylan Larkin open the scoring up with
a power play goal. It's a five on four. It
was a five on four. They had a five on
three initially. Larkin also had six total penalty minutes. Yeah, yes,
(17:37):
just yes, six penalty minutes. That's all the Wings had
and Larkin served them all right here, six penalty minutes.
See that, see that line right here, Yeah, right there.
(17:57):
James Van Riemsdyke got his first goal as a red
Wing from cop Matthew Nye and Kelly Arnkrock propelled the
Leafs comeback to tie it at two at six eighteen
with six eighteen left, yarn croc but Mason Appleton, out
(18:22):
of all people filling intro for the inured Lucas Raymond Appleton,
scored the game winning go with forty four point one
seconds left. They reset, They would have the officials let
the event. The officials would eventually reset the game to
(18:43):
like at least like exactly forty five points zero seconds
left either way. The time of that goal is nineteen fifteen,
either whether it's forty five seconds flat or forty four
point one seconds lefteen fifteen the time of the goal.
What matters is Appleton won it for the Red Wings
(19:05):
with his first goal as a Red Wing from Sharon
and Finny. Finny gets another Phinny got his second assists
in his NHL career and on the season, and Cam
(19:26):
Talbot's absolutely stood on his head thirty eight saves. The
Red Wings got badly out shot forty to fifteen, but
guess what they got it? They got the job done again.
They beat the leaf six to three at Little Seasons
(19:47):
arenas Saturday the past Saturday Night, and they do it
again Monday night on Monday afternoon on Columbus Day, three
to two Canadian in other words, Canadian Thanksgiving Day. Thank
you very much. So uh, it's quite an accomplishment sweeping
the maple Leafs. Of all teams, the maple Leafs are
(20:09):
usually good. Yeah, they're without Mitch Martner, but they still
have other weapons right over there, like John John and Tavares.
As we take a look at the box score, the
bank beliefs Kayla Young, crock Nys Austin Matthews, William Nilander,
(20:37):
there's Tavaras like I mentioned, Nicholas Robertson, and then we
got Bobby, Bobby McCann, Max DOMI got all of those
other players also, Chris tannev Mark Riley, Jake McCabe, Oliver Ekman, Larson,
(21:06):
Anthony Stallars. Well, he had a start. He started both
games for the Leafs and gave up four goals a
Little Seasons Arena, gave up the three all those three
goals on just fifteen shots, only made twelve saves, which
(21:27):
makes his say percentage terribly a terrible eight hundred right there. Wow.
So so the Red Wings their next game, I believe,
(21:49):
is home back home at Little Seasons Arena against the
defending back to back Stanley Cup champion of Florida Panthers. Well,
I want to make sure that I'm correct. Yes, that's Tuesday,
October fifteenth on TNT at seven o'clock. M Now it's
(22:19):
Wednesday at seven on TNT. Thank god, I'm going to
get my TV back that day because I'm getting paid
by the Masaki Golf Club golf course. So anyway, that
(22:40):
is all the teams we've covered. Now, the what we've
learned segment. The Tigers are staying the course by extending
their manager A. J. Hinch. The Lions have them. The
Lions have themselves to blame for their laws and not
the officials and the Red Wings. Of course, they made
(23:00):
or statement by sweeping the leaves. I want to get
and I want to get delve into the Branch Branch
Shoster Smith Schuster incident. It doesn't matter what excuses any
(23:24):
anyone comes up with. And all the fans on social
media that can done things like this ought to be
locked up in jail or ought to lose their jobs
because words, words are very powerful, especially violent words. Freedom
see freedom of speeches always regulated and the media is
(23:46):
a pretty powerful entity social media, especially more specifically, and
you have to be careful what you post and reply
to to each post, especially on x It's been it's
full of toxic people, let alone sports fans. And speaking
(24:11):
of which, Branch was suspended for one game like he
should have been. And I only think he deserves just
one game, not two or three, just one, just to
be fair. But I think Brian Branch should be released
because he has not learned, disciplined. He's toxic out there.
(24:31):
I don't even care about his upside skills on the field.
This is more important. I'd rather have a losing season
than deal with someone like that, or come up or
come up short of the NFC nor title with a
shorthanded team rather than deal with someone undisciplined and toxic
on the team, learn more discipline and have thicker skin.
(24:55):
And just because the Chiefs were never penalized, doesn't mean
the Lions were completely screwed out of this by the officials.
Lions and Detroit sports fans and media are whiny, sensitive, soft, arrogant, obnoxious,
delusional and just plain terrible and just plain terrible people.
(25:17):
Lots of fans react so violently violently on social media,
especially on X they can don't and call for violence.
After everything they see and read and hear all that stuff,
you know what they really need to do lose whatever
jobs they have and get banned from their social media accounts.
There's no reason for fans to act like violent thugs.
(25:42):
That's one of the main reasons why I'd rather have
a very small audience, small and not so broad audience
rather than deal with toxic, toxic fans that coddle our
teams no matter what. But there are lots of other
fans that don't tolerate this, which is good and which
I come them for, because I'd rather have an audience
(26:03):
of those people, those mature people that know right and wrong,
no matter how broad or small it is. For those
that are watching on YouTube or Twitch, or listening to
or listening in audio form on Spreaker, Spotify, iHeartRadio, et cetera.
If you're toxic right now but are willing to change
(26:25):
sometime in the near future, give yourself a break, take
deep breats, meditate for a bit, clear your mind all
that stuff, and think for a moment or two before
you engage in any conversation. Be smart and vice versa.
(26:49):
