why the Red Wings should sign should sign forward career

(01:04):
Caprice CAPRICEO? Let me type this in here just one minute?

(01:33):
All right, here we go? Yeah, why should the Red
Wings sign Caroll Caprice off? Because I've ran into an
article over here? Yeah, I keep it, Yeah, apologize for that,
but anyway, I'm gonna share the screen right now. From

(01:56):
the Hockey Writers, written by Jim Parsons two days ago.
Detroit's rebuild continues, but even when even with some key
additions this summer, the Red Wings remain a team on
the outside looking in when it comes to serious playoff contention.
The acquisition of goalie John Gibson and the reigning resigning

(02:18):
of Patrick kaneer positive moves, but they are unlikely to
be enough to vault Detroit into the upper echelon of
the NHL. With just under twelve million dollars in salary
cap space available, general manager Steve Eiserman and executive president
has yet to make his all end push. One has

(02:39):
to wonder if he's waiting on something or at the
news this week that Carillca prisoff is turning down sixteen
million dollars with the Minnesota Wild might get Eiserman's attention.
The Red Wings seemed to be holding back. This summer
offered a prime opportunity for Detroit to add impact players,

(03:03):
particularly those on teams constrained by salary cap considerations. While
Isserman was active, he missed out on some bigger targets,
including a failed attempt to engage with star winger Nikolai
Ellers before he signed with Carolina. The Hurricanes sportsnets Elliott

(03:24):
Friedeman noted that while Ellers may never have been a
realistic option anyway, Detroit's inability to secure a conversation underscores
the challenge Detroit is facing as they try to attack
attract bigger They try to attract bigger name free bigger
name free agents. Now two questions here, is Eiserman waiting

(03:49):
on the exact right move or is he hasn't given
the mass? Given that the massive difference maker hasn't been available,
CAPRICEO would qualify as a big splash Easadham entered. Carill
capriceof the Minnesota Wild Superstar reportedly turned down an eight year,
one hundred twenty one hundred twenty eight million dollar extension,

(04:10):
knowing that the deal that would make him the highest
paid player in NHL history. Even if the validity of
the report is unclear, GM general manager Bill Garen is
playing it off like the reports aren't true and the
negotiations are going fine. The evidence appears clear capriceov is

(04:30):
either not getting the offer he wants or he's willing
to test his market for maximum value. For Detroit, a
team with cap flexibility and an established reputation as a
patient but serious suitor, capriceof represents a rare opportunity. Starting

(04:58):
in twenty twenty six, twenty twenty seven, which is next year,
which is next season, not this upcoming season, but the
season after that. The run Wings are projected to have
forty four million dollars in cap space. If they wanted
to offering Caprizo more than sixteen million dollars he reportedly
turned down, would not be an issue. Paying capriceof that

(05:20):
much money comes with risk. At the same time, landing
the winger would add a dynamic player the team has
been missing one with elite's scoring talent. Add him to
add him to the current mix of players on the roster,

(05:42):
and it would arguably transform the Wings into a legitimate
playoff contender. This is a player who clearly believes he's
worth whatever he's asking for. Caprisot likely has no issue
putting a team on his back and leading them in
terms of offense. A big money contract comes with big response,
and he seems ready for it. Signing him would accelerate

(06:04):
Detroit's competitive timeline and give clear direction to what has
been a somewhat confusion vision by the organization. They have
a full they have a group full of potential, but
he would be the star offensive centerpiece to rally around
Dylan Larkin, Alex Dabrinktt Lucas Raymond, and Patrick Kane would

(06:24):
have a finisher. On another level, is Detroit's window this
coming summer. Of course, all of this is contingent on
how things pan out between the Wild and Caprisov. The
two sides may figure out the gap between them and
he could inc a deal before the season starts. If
that doesn't happen and the trade deadline approaches, insiders are

(06:47):
already teasing the idea that Garan might want to obtain
a list of destinations Capriesov would be willing to go
too again. Detroit not be it again. Detroit might not
be on that list. But if it's a about the money,
the Red Wings have it, they have a lot of it.
Speaking of money, let's go to that first. Before we

(07:08):
go to advanced hockey stats, let's go to spot track first.
There we go Minnesota Wild career Caprisof. He becomes a

(07:31):
he becomes an unrestricted free agent next year. Right now,
he's being paid nine million dollars per cap hit per
android average Anielevilley value a nine million dollar cap hit
this year. He's in the final year of his contract,

(07:53):
so the Red Wings are going to have to hold
off on capriceof for now until at least the the
upcoming trade deadline or next upcoming free agency offseason next summer.
But I want to show you Caurel Capriov's amazing advanced

(08:18):
hockey stats. Look at this, look a look at all
the great projective projected war projected percentiles. Projected war percentile
ninety nine percent, even strength offense ninety eight percent, power
play ninety nine percent, finishing ninety nine percent, teammates ninety
eight percent, competition ninety percent, penalties ninety percent. He stays

(08:42):
out of the box, even strength defense seventy seven percent.
He's a little above average, but still good. I think,
still good enough. He can help the help the defense
in front of in front of John Gibson and Cam
cam Talben and goal first assist ninety six percent, goals
eighty nine percent. So overall, he's a two way player

(09:08):
and he could be the only player that could you know,
he could be the best defender on this roster that
could actually also help with the penalty kill, which is
anna right now, but I would get if I were,

(09:29):
if I were on the penalty kill, if I were
head coach Todd McLellan, I would I would at least
give capriceof a try on the penalty kill if Capriceof
ever came to Detroit, my goodness. So with that said,

(09:57):
this is just a short and sweet video no Tiger's
Tribune episode. We're gonna forget that. We'll save it for
the next episode. So what we What have we learned?
The Red Wings have a golden opportunity to and definitely
should sign for career Caprice off because he plays very
good two way hockey, especially offense. Again, they're gonna hold up.

(10:22):
They're gonna have a golden opportunity in the in the
near future in technicality, whether it's the the upcoming trade
deadline or next off season, in the in the next
summer season, it's coming. The Red Wings and Steve Eiserman
had better be prepared. That being said, I can't wait

(10:43):
for hockey season to come to fruition. So that's what
we've learned in this episode of the Michigan Sports Truth Podcast.
