Speaker 1 (00:00):
HM, welcome back to the muster.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Now we're catching up with Nickel Horror, chairman of Environment South,
which is of course sponsored by Environment South. Then Nickel,
good afternoon and welcome once again house.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Things are pretty good, you know, the sun's coming out again,
so good to see. We're all getting through carbon and
lambing and the end isn't cycloto of us, so it's
always good to get to that stage.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
So Nickel, talk to me about this wind of gracing
and voicing claims and feeds have brought up recently.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
It is only look you, we're incredibly disappointed, you know,
the high profile but members of our community basically saying
that you know we're price guarding and everybody's getting charged
that that's not the case. The only people that have
been a boy is people we have had leasny theories,

(01:03):
no compliance. It's not not the ten meter all. It's
it's either one of the rules, either slope or being
left like a three meter world. A long time and
I don't believe ten meter escorts for fusion. My understanding
is nobody has received something for the ten meter r all.
That is all education and the people that have my

(01:27):
understanding is that they have in non compliant the last
couple of years, so education, education, but you know there
are story of three strikes and you're out. If that's true.
I don't think that's unfair. And sometimes people need a
wee bit of a jolt to actually improve their compliance.
And obviously our guys and we're happy to work with

(01:51):
the industry people need support for next season. I'm very
happy to provide it to make sure everybody's on the
right track. That Look, you know, we've got four of
our some farmers out there that the majority of doing
a fantastic job. We've come a long way since we
set up a group quite a few years ago now,
so all the players get the same information and we're

(02:13):
all giving the same advice. And the worry about what's
been going on in the last couple of weeks, it's
actually causing to trust in our community where we all
want to work together for the right to get the
right outcomes.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
It looks as there's a little bit of confusion regarding
their compliance. Surprise that counsel brings. What does that involve exactly?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
The should be based on costs, and I guess we
federate departments said over the years, if the costs should
fall where they lie, don't put up the rights and
all the right players, somebody's out and do the wrong thing.
So that class recovery is it's across the country too,

(02:57):
that whether it's complys or consenting, the bulk of costure
that that's which would actually lie. And I don't reason,
we fear out and we've probably got people who never
haven't had a consent and that's suddenly got a bull
and are quite concerned about it. And look and all

(03:19):
is alway open. If anybody who feels that behn and
fairly treaded that they can make an email or rather
than this out and were happy to listen. And if
there's something that we haven't seen, something we don't know about,
that would be taken into consideration.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Now there's been questions raised regarding nitrogen reporting fees. What
can you say about these?

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Well, as most people should know, this is a national
direction to come in twenty twenty two where all dairy
farmers have to submit their their nitrogen whos for a year.
So this year we received at eight hundred and seventy

(04:02):
three returns those that I think six that were acceeding.
But it was education first and no where they actually taken.
Twenty Millie Farmers were set nine supply of seventy hundred
and twenty three dollars just inclusive after they'd had two
direct reminders of again three strikes and you're out. Consequently,

(04:24):
I think about twelve we've provided their data and only
eight that actually haven't. But those who are now now
promoted data that they can actually apply for a remittance.
I want to get it all back, but you know,
for fairness and now got it there, we would only
again only charge was what at it a cost to
get the information that we're required to.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Good on your echo. Always appreciate your time on the master.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
I know you have a good day, and look we're trying.
I think we're reaching out to Federated Farmers both ways.
I think we were going to meet with Federated fire
Is on next Friday with Robin, myself and other councilors
and some of their stuff. So look, we need to
actually sit down and find where our differences are and

(05:11):
hopefully we can come out the other side with some clarity.
If we're doing anything that is wrong, we'll be happy
to correct, but we want to get this misinformation that's
out of the way and actually work together as we have. Look,
but no problem with Federated Farmers. There anybody else taking
us on if they think we're doing something that's wrong.
But the wintergrade thing thing, we've worked together over the

(05:34):
years and that has been really really effected. So we
don't want to lose that relationship we've had with the
farming community and we are here to help. And with
some suggestion that people are scared to come forward because
they would be persecuted in the future, that will never happen.

(05:54):
Had to buy watch or any other councilors, nobody in
this building would do that. We're here, we've got a
rectory role, we've got to do it. But at the
end of the time, we're here to support for the
farmer community AMBA versa Settland.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Get on your nick I'll appreciate your time as always.
Oh good, thanks for that, Nicole Horral, Chair of Environment Southland.
This is the muster. Before we wrap up, change of text,
we're talking motorsport and studio.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
