Good afternoon. How are you yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
After here? Not too mad?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Are you staying dry?
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:39):
It's probably a quite welcome rain for master of Sapling,
I think.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
I mean at this time of you you don't really
turn down moisture in a lot of places.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
No, absolutely a So those ones we've been heaving sort
of the last few weeks, you know, we've just absolutely
drive the ground there something chronic and you know it's
the reigners. Ye're welcome and you'd say most people will
agree that at fifteen to twenty mills a once a
week will be quite good.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
So as far as the velvet saying, how's that been going, Yeah, no,
it's just the same as last one, to be fear Endie.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Just it's just coming off doing about thirty animals a week.
Probably it's just just a weekly job. Well this year
as you're probably more of ature this year actually, but
just a weekly job we've.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Got to do.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
You say it's a chure. Why is that?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
It's probably just reflection on the process of things too. Theater.
We have had it good for the last probably eight years,
I guess. But yeah, the process this year just pretty poor.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Really saves no sign of a breakthrough coming occurring any
time soon, I don't believe.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
So, No, it's probably still a bit early to tell.
And and no, but I suspect yeah, nothing will really
change for the season anyhow.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
So what do you do?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
You just treat the product like you would like any
other season and just take it off and just do
what you've got to do. Really, absolutely, I think I
think everyone's done it.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Of course, it's probably killing quite heavily on the on
their older stage in particularly, and anything that's not cutting
sort of decent weights just down the road because vincent
process are recently good for especially for old staggs. Essentially
sort of worth some money, is venocence. Yeah, a lot
a lot of velvet growers and producers are just getting
(02:17):
stuck into the into the cold vealvenue stacks.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
So that's probably your saving grace for the industry, the
fact the venison she duels are right up there to
you like the other ones.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, no, absolutely, it is. The challenge, of course, is
that there's a unlimited space for old staggs. There is
a freezing work, so a bit of a challenge around
getting guinea animals space for them and that works. There's
another challenge of course, but that's okay.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Do you make the call sooner than later regarding what
goes to the works and what stays well.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
We we air policy is just specially as the velvet
comes off your wire teeth and if it's not up
where it should be, they get a tag and they're
going to more than hope you get space for them.
And yeah, a lot of guys are pretty organized and
they have space already organized and blocked up and organized,
and but yeah, sometimes you just don't know, you hear,
(03:09):
you get to get and yeah, yeah, so there's a
little bit of a challenge at the moment, but yeah,
it's just a pat and pulsele.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Really, So how's the trick to where it's been going?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I know we've got on pretty good at it was
a bit of pitching a bit slow, but no, this
last last couple of weeks we got into it and yeah,
and all their crops are in them spreads. This rain
will be going in very good actually, sir, h I
think we just got maybe seven or eight heap years
of grass going probably next week with a bit of luck, sir,
And then that's all the egg work done. So I
know we're sort of on top of that sort of
(03:39):
things until well, until the grass grass stunts gravel, the
grass is growing, but until the bailer starts coming off.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, Baylor's when do you hope to do that?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
You reckon, I'll hope to make a start next week
to be fierce. Yeah, yeah, it's ready to go now,
So yeah, next week we'll probably make a start on.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
That's so Duncan from where the watches on the show
later on in the yellows.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
So as far as you wonder, Cross, so are you
keeping the same policy.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Pretty much the same policy. Yeah, yeah, it's probably a
few more icties of Kale this year, but no, it's
the same policy really, just you're just cracking on doing
what we normally do. So yeah, it's yeah, they're all
in the growing. Well perhaps you're growing, so you know
it's good.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Well that's ray is going to be a god scene
of the crops just gone on the ground.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Right Yeah, one sent days far a beat wind in
an apaticas Swedes went, and probably it will be two
weeks ago now so that they'll be loving us. But
weaving the rain and absolutely Kale's just weak. It's got
soing on what there we've we've got something on Wednesday
I think it was that's around to be second and
quite nasty for them too, So yeah, it's just quite
(04:43):
handy to having this rain right now.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
That's what you call good management.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Well I think so all good luck. I'm not sure
what it is, but either way, so it's uh, that's good.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Now, last time we spoke to you, you're about to
hit away the fun out as to follow the rallying circle.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Being part of the team there, sounds like it was
a good weekend.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, no, so no, it was a good week initially,
so Caleb the driver, he managed to clean up the
national competentsonship Anie Healser. Yeah, you can see him out
doing it, so you know he's very happy with that.
So we are celebrated pretty well on that Sunday night.
Any HEALTHA made a very slow Monday coming home.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
But I may you have a smile on your face
as you wake up in the morning knowing that you've
achieved the goal.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Oh absolutely So we also got a team trophy as
well for the for the Beast and best team for
the year, so you know it was it was pretty
amazing really.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Now the Tian Fishing Classic is happening next weekend, of course,
so what's supposed to be at Labor weekend, but the
weather dictated otherwise.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Well you're going up for that on imagine No.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Well not no, there is the boat club have Lynn
Ross Fishing competition this weekend up there. My grandfather started
that well I'm not sure went way back in eighty two.
I think it was wow and uh and it's just
it is just for Gore Boat Club members as such,
(06:08):
and uh and it's have always been this this weekend
about it. Well, what we did that third weekend in November.
I guess, yeah, yes, we were at Yes, we were
at so so we eventually got the good boat clubs
has got their own one this weekend up there, So
we're not head up there for this. We got head
up there later on today for after we get the
velving done. Sir, Yeah, no, so that's what we're doing anyhow, So.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
How many members in the Goold boat Club?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Oh gee, this good question actually there. It might be
it might be wrong saying this, but I have a
feeling that the Gore Boat Club is the biggest club
in New Zealand that doesn't have a lake beside u
or river land landlock Town. Yeah, well lake water water
land Town or something like that, and so I'm pretty
(06:54):
sure where they didn't have that total for a while.
So whether that's still got it or not, I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
That's a hell of a stet.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
While well done, Yeah I can't and I can't hear
how me me membies hers, But yeah, so no, it's
it's yeah, So we'll wait at ten this weekend for
the len Ross Fishing weekend any elsa, Yeah, good on.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
You, Ile, We'll leave you to it. Always appreciate your
time and all the best on the fishing cot this weekend.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Yep, no good has got any.
