Morton Jensen, and today we'll be discussing the Memphis Grizzlies,
the New Orleans Pelicans, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Orlando Magic.

common denominator by all those four teams, it is obviously
because we're about to talk about the panic meter that
is going on within the NBA right now. And when

Memphis Christlies. Yes, listen, you and I have had this
conversation a whole bunch. I've been on this for at
least a couple of years now. I also just wrote
a column about this already. Yeahoo sports, I'm just done
and I have been done for a while with the
whole John range Jared Jackson junior combo. Now it seems

like he's grown, you know, personal not between those two.

see what happens there. But like just in terms of
the basketball skill set between the two of them, I
just don't like the fit. I haven't liked for a
while now. It's the I'm a raid ideology of being

a slashing point guard. But you're one practically never available,
two can't shoot. Three, you drift off defensively every single time.
Things just don't go your way. That's that's such a
bad starting point. And then you have arguably one of
the most athletic six seven, six eleven guys sixty seven.

it's I think we're having some cognitive dissonance because a
couple of years ago, before Job started getting suspended and
start getting injured, you know, the Grizzlies looked like one
of the up and coming teams in the West. It
was like them and the Thunder were supposed to rule

the West for the next half decade decade for the
rest of the twenty twenties, and then obviously that panned
out exactly as planned for the Thunder, but the Grizzlies
have not exactly panned out as expected, So yeah, I
mean it's an interesting kind of inflection point for them

this year for.

I mean, typically in situations like that, the star player
wins out over the head coach, but they already fired
one head coach last year because he allegedly clashed with

are you willing to turn through to find one that

he's meshing with, and especially when these results are so
underwhelming and he's you know, like hopefully he has Instagram

backdrop too, like you got to make sure he's got
his head on straight when you're not at the arena,

and clearly over the last couple of years that was
not the case. So it's just like it's kind of
risky to build around him, you know. I think there
was an ESPN article today kind of touching on like
some of the big potential trade Candi and they were saying,
you know, if Jah, Trey, Trey Young, and LaMelo Ball

all hit the market hypothetically right now, I actually thought
LaMelo would have the most trade value of the three.

Yeah, I'd buy that.

I do too, But I think that kind of speaks
to how far John Morant's stock has fallen.

Year, you know, when there was some like very premature
Tyree Maxey trade speculation. You know there was, and like
the Grizzlies were fine but kind of underachieving that. There
was a lot of talk like would you trade Ja
Morant for Tyree Maxey? And like, I don't think that's
a conversation anymore. It's just a straight no from a

sixer side. So I think the interesting thing if like
Memphis did decide to just fully detonate Jared Jackson Junior,
I think would there would be a lot of interest
in him. But like, what could you think of any
teams where jam Rant makes sense?

No? I mean again, if we're going the whole Trey
Young John Moran swap, which is one I've floated a
couple of times. Sure, you know, it does make sense
for him to go to a team that is so
tall that is so long, and there is three point capability,
there is a lot of lessicism. You know, you have
two forwards who are like six', nine six,' ten who

can handle, the ball who can shoot the ball. And
rebound we can do a lot of these both big man,
wing things which kind Of allows jah in, my opinion
to focus on being more of, a slasher more of
a rim pressurer and. A playmaker but here's my like
even going into like the, basketball, stuff, like okay we
can sit here and, talk about, you know all what

makes sense from a, basketball perspective but you kind of
alluded to, something HERE which i think is the far.
Grander issue how can you take a guy who has
been so unavailable over the past, few years who keeps making,
a fuss who has kept putting himself into untenable situations

reasons for no, reason whatsoever and then he still sits there.
In complaints he thinks like if you have not ever
played seventy games in, your career and like you're supposed
to be this star and you're supposed to BE a B,
and c but you're getting yourself suspended all the time
you're you're not even able to hit the floor because
you're also injured a fair amount. Of time like at,

some Point if i'm, sitting there either as an owner or,
An executive i'm asking, the question like where do you, get,

even try in your own mind to justify that type?

coaching staff, everything there how's that going to make him

context like if you're going to say a guy has,

for the number twenty. Three Pick the pacers currently are one,
and seven tied for the worst record IN, the nba
so non zero chance that they just traded the twenty
three pick in last year's draft for a mid to
high lottery pick in this. Year's draft and then he

compounded that by trading the twenty, three pick along with
the better of either There or milwaukee's first round pick
in twenty twenty six To The atlanta hawks to move
up ten Spots.

Recent games so THIS is i feel like any analysis
of that trade just comes up like unnecessarily Harsh Against,
derek queen which is UNFAIR because i Think Like derek

that might be a. Bad Pick, new, orleans however is two,
and six tied for the worst record In, the west
and was oh and six before they got to beat
Up on Charlotte without LaMelo And, brandon miller and Then
the Mavericks without Kyrie And.

LaMelo would have the most trade value of the three.

sixer side. So I think the interesting thing if like
Memphis did decide to just fully detonate Jared Jackson Junior,
I think would there would be a lot of interest
in him. But like, what could you think of any
teams where jam Rant makes sense?

Young John Moran swap, which is one I've floated a
couple of times. Sure, you know, it does make sense
for him to go to a team that is so

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole.
