Speaker 1 (00:06):
Welcome back to the Oily Academy, the podcast for all
things A Room with Therapy and Natural Health. I'm Wendy Selbig,
your host. I'm ANAHA Level two certified a Room with
Therapist and an NTCB certified a Room with Therapist Coach.
And today I'm dropping this special episode because it's Saint
Patrick's Day. I've always loved this holiday. I do have

(00:26):
Irish im my bloodline, but honestly, I think my love
for it started back in grade school. We used to
celebrate at big time, and of course there was always
candy involved. But back then, you know, it was totally
fine to bring candy to class, and Saint Patrick's Day
always meant plenty of it. And then there was that
whole we're green or you're gonna get pinched thing. I
remember kids going around pinching and honestly sometimes punching each

(00:50):
other all day long. But it was fun and it's
always stuck with me as a day of playfulness and
good energy. So in the fun spirit of the holiday,
I thought, why not bring Ireland into our central Oils
and Aromatherapy conversation today, Let's talk about the Emerald Isle.
Whether you're Irish by heritage or just Irish for the day.

(01:11):
I think you'll enjoy this little journey as we explore
some of the beautiful plants and trees that grow in
Ireland and how we can experience their benefits through essential oils. Now,
when you think of Ireland, you probably picture rolling green hills,
stone fences, and maybe some sheep grazing in the distance.
But did you know that the Irish have always had

(01:32):
a close connection with the land For centuries, They've appreciated
the gifts of nature, plants, trees and herbs that support
health and wellness, and today we can enjoy those same
blessings through essential oils. Ireland has long been known for
its deep connection to the land. The people there have
a rich tradition of appreciating nature, not just for its beauty,

(01:53):
but for the many ways plants and trees support health
and well being. Whether you see nature as I do,
as reflection of God's creation or simply as something that
brings peace and balance, there's something special about tapping into
plants and trees, these timeless gifts. Cedarwood. We're going to
talk about this oil, this tree. Cedar trees were prized

(02:17):
for their strength and durability. In fact, cedarwood is mentioned
many times an ancient text, often as a symbol of
strength and protection. Today, cedarwood essential oil is known for
promoting calm, grounding, and focus. I love diffusing cedarwood when
I'm praying, journaling, or simply just trying to quiet my
mind after a busy day. Now, I personally used cedarwood

(02:38):
with one of my children who had a lot of
attention deficit issues, and it really helped him bring calm
and serenity to him when he was feeling out of
sorts when his mind is racing as a young child.
He really dealt with that, and we got him a
cedar wood oil, and we got him a diffuse or necklace,

(03:02):
and he could wear that necklace and wear that oil
during the day and if you felt uptight or if
you felt like his mind was racing, he would take
that and smell it. Now, there are some studies out
there that show cedarwood works as well or maybe even
better in some cases than typical ritilin and medicines in

(03:22):
calming and focusing and helping children especially. The big takeaway
I would say for you to understand about cedarwood is
that it is a tree and it's grounding. If you
feel like emotionally you're all over the place, or you're
going through a hard time, cedarwood is going to be
a good oil for you to be breathing in. To diffuse,

(03:44):
they always say when it comes to oils, if you're
having emotional issues, grab a tree. And it's because they
are for whatever reason, to our brain and to our
mind and body it is, they're just very grounding. Now,
Basil is another essential oil i'd like to talk about.
Basil has been cherished for centuries as a symbol of blessing,

(04:08):
protection and abundance. Basil essential oil has a fresh herbal
scent that uplifts and energizes. I'd like to think of
it as a reminder to the provision we have all
around this. Diffusing basil can help with mental clarity and focus,
making it a great choice when you're working on something
important or need a little extra motivation. Now, if you

(04:30):
want to bring a little piece of Ireland into your
home today, here's a diffuser blend I put together that
reminds me of walking through those lush green hills. The
Emerald Isle blend is what I'm gonna call it. Just
came up with this today. Three drops of juniper, two
drops of cedar wood, two drops of spearmint, one drop

(04:52):
of basil. Add this to your diffuser. However, your most
diffusers are with water, so you would add this to
some water and your diffuse or turn it on and
it is perfect for clearing the air in your home,
refreshing your mind, and creating a peaceful, uplifting atmosphere. It's
also a great blend to have going during quiet moments,
whether you're reflecting, praying, or just taking a few deep

(05:15):
breaths and being still. As we think about Ireland today
and all its natural beauty, it's a great time to
pause and reflect on the blessings in our own lives,
whether it's the beauty of nature, the people we love,
or simple moments of peace. There's so much to be
thankful for. So here's a little encouragement for today. Diffuse

(05:35):
your emerald Ile blend, take a few quiet moments and
reflect on the goodness that's around you. Whether you spend
that time in prayer, gratitude, or just stillness, it's a
wonderful way to honor the day and reset your mind
and heart. I hope you've enjoyed this little journey to
the Emerald Isle with me today. It's such a great
gift to be able to use the plants and the

(05:55):
trees from nature to support our health and well being.
And essential oils make that that's so simple. Now. If
you found this episode encouraging, I'd love for you to
share it with a friend who loves natural health or
just needs a little boost today. And if you're interested
in taking your essential oil knowledge deeper, check out my
aromatherapy certification course at the Aromascience Academy dot com. It's

(06:17):
self paced, affordable, and meets no house standards. And hey,
if you've ever wondered about which essential oil brand is
the best and safest and most effective, or you're just
curious about the ones that I personally recommend, feel free
to send me an email at info at the Oily

Until next time. May your home be filled with peace,

(06:39):
joy and maybe a little bit of Irish cheer today.
