Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, hey, everybody, This is Wendy Selbig with the Oily
Academy podcast and this is the Business podcast edition. Today's episode,
I want to talk to you about really important resources
that I have used and need and when I'm doing
this business and there's so many resources out there, and
I've I have a bookshelf literally in my office, five

(00:26):
shelves and it's what six feet tall and five feet
why it's like, I mean, I have collected books. So
I'm going to give you the highlight of maybe five
to seven of them though that I always go back
to and I always use, and I always end up
buying them and hand them out to people on my
team and whatnot. So the ones that I think are

(00:48):
really really important I'm going to share with you. Okay,
So I'm going to just dive right into it, and
I don't try not to take too much time to
tell you all these things. The very very first one
that I feel is the most important is an essential
Oil Dusk reference book. Now here's the problem, you guys.
Right now, it's not in print. And so I do

(01:11):
know there's a new there's a company that has bought
the rights and they should be putting one out over
the next year, and I don't know when it's coming out.
I don't know if it's going to be exactly the
same or if it's going to be a completely new version.
I don't know, And so I don't want to just recommend,
you know that you go try to find one on
Amazon someone's use copy for one hundred and fifty bucks

(01:33):
and then have them turn around and put these out
in three months and have them be the exact same thing.
I don't want that to happen. My guess, and you know,
my educated guess is they're going to come out with
their version. This new publisher is going to be a
new version. It'll still be Gary's information, but it'll be
a new version. So probably if you get a hold
of one of these Dusk references that it's okay, it's

(01:55):
like you're gonna want I mean, I will never get
rid of these books. So this called, you know, the
Essential Oil Dusk Reference Book, and the original producer was
Life Science Products and Publishing. Now there is a pocket
reference that is printed that is still available in I

(02:18):
think it's in black and white at Growing Healthy dot sorry,
Growing Healthy homes dot com. I just saw this now
I'm recording this August fourth, twenty twenty four at this
time when I'm saying this, they've got them. So you
might go get a pocket reference and that will get
you most of the way. There. Another thing I want

(02:39):
to recommend that's much much, much cheaper, but it also
would fill this role for you, would be to get
the Seeds of Time app. So if you go on
to your app store, download Seeds of Time t hyme.
I think it's like seven bucks for the year for
a subscription, but you basically have at your fingertips, you know,

(03:00):
a reference guide for any illness sickness thing that comes up.
You can look it up figure out what oils to use,
and vice versa. You can look up the oils and say, hey,
what does time oil do? You know? What what does
a regular oil do? And it'll tell you what you
can use them four so and it's a great price
at that price. I'm really sorry, I can't remember it
is six ninety nine or seven ninety nine or something

(03:22):
like that for the whole year. But you can take
that and you can turn around and gift that app
to your new members. You can you don't have to
pay for it and gift it to them, but you
could recommend it if you wanted to. I like to
give a gift of some kind to my members, and
so that is an option. And now if you want
to give it as a gift, you do have to

(03:44):
contact them. They do have a contact information off of
that app, and you kind of behind the scenes, have
to prepay for the gifting. They're working on making it
easy to gift that to somebody, but as of right now,
that's the way to do it, just so you know. Okay.
The other resources I think are super important is the

(04:08):
Supplement Field Guide that you get at growing Healthy homes
dot com. This I'm pulling up here to look at it.
The Supplement Field Guide, a Clinical Pharmacist Guide to Young
Living Supplements by doctor Ashley crib She is a clinical
pharmacist and this is my supplement Bible. I love it.
I love it and I will and this is my favorite.

(04:29):
So next to that desk reference, this Supplement Field Guide
is really important to me. Another thing at that same
website at growing Healthy homes dot com is gentle Babies.
That is a great resource for anyone who's working with
young mamas, anybody who's in their twenties, thirties, forties. You know,
this helps you know how to use essential oils and

(04:50):
other natural remedies for pregnancy, childbirth, infants, and young children.
And it's written by Deborah Rayburn, who is now remarried
and she's now Deborah Starky, and she's retired, but she
was a natural path and had tons and tons of
letters behind her name at one point with master Herbalists
and all those things. She but this is a great resource,

(05:13):
So I recommend that one. And then I also recommend
Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Carolyn L. Maine.
She's a chiropractic doctor, and you have to find that
on Amazon. So it's called Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils.
I have used this book so many times. I've probably
bought it seven or eight times. I end up people

(05:36):
borrowing it. I use it at vendor events, they get
bent up. I buy another one. This book is my
emotional release Bible. Okay, So like this is, I use
this as a go to and I will teach you.
And actually I did a podcast somewhere in the Oil Academy.
I did a podcast on how to unreleasing emotions and

(05:59):
but this book guide you through and show you how,
and there is a there's a reference guide in the
middle where you can look up according to the emotion
that you're feeling. And so like, I'm just opening it
up right now, and I see rejection. Okay, So rejection
is the emotion, and then it shows you the other

(06:19):
side is acceptance. So that's what you want to feel,
is acceptance, not rejection. And it gives you a way out,
which is a way to like something to meditate on
and think about and create a new emotion. And so
this one says I accept all that I am. It
tells you purification is the best oil for this, and
you put it on the lung point, which is a meridian.

(06:42):
This is Chinese medicine on the lung point. And then
it has a chart and it shows you where that
point is. And so if I was dealing with rejection,
then I would focus on the idea that I accept
all that I am, and I would meditate on that
until I felt it, and I would put purification on
the point, my lung point, and that purification on that

(07:05):
will travel on the nerve from that where the lung is,
and it would take it to the place where that
emotion is stored as a chemical molecule. Man, it's a
long story. I can I'm gonna have to teach it
to you, and another thing like how to work it
all out. But this is so good in helping people
release emotions. So that is one of my very loved resources.

(07:28):
There is another one that I love and need and use,
and it is hard to find, and I hate that
so much that they're hard to find, but it is.
It's Gary Young's book about the Ninja Wolfbury. Let me

(07:48):
just see if I can see what it is on
Amazon right now. So it's called Ninja wolf Bury The
Ultimate Superfood Gary Young. Endi. All right, so that book, uh,
one hundred and fifty one dollars right now? Okay, oh no,
here's one for forty dollars, a paperback for forty. It's

(08:09):
so high because they're not in print anymore. But this
one is this tells you everything you need to know
about the Wolfberry. And like, this is how I found
out that Ningjer Wolfberry is full of superoxide dismutaste from
this book, and that is superoxide dismutasee is the major

(08:29):
antioxidant in your mitochondria that if you don't make that
very well, you will fight you will, you'll be one
of the one out of two people that do come
down with cancer. Like you can't fight off cancer ultimately
long term your whole life if you don't have enough
superoxide dismutase and so me, I've already been genetically tested

(08:50):
to find out that I don't make superoxide dismutases and
very well, so I need the Nanga red. But I
came to that conclusion from this. So, man, if you
can get yourself a copy of it, it's this is gold.
It's gold for your business because you want to educate
people about the really great health benefits of the names' Wolfberry,

(09:14):
and this is the book that's going to give you
all the information that you need. I'm sorry that it's
hard to find, and I'm sorry that sometimes it's more
expensive than others, but I would get a used copy.
What if you can get one, get it? Okay. So
then I think the last one I was going to

(09:35):
tell you about, well, okay, I'm going to tell you
two websites to go check out. One is rain Drop
training dot com. That is the care website that's for
getting if you'd like to get licensed as a rain
drop tech, you know, to give the rain drop it's
like a massage. You can be certified in it, and

(09:55):
I you know. But they also have a bunch of
books there, so you can go to that that web site,
go to the resources tab and look at the books.
And the chemistry of essential oil is made simple by
David Stewart. Please don't get overwhelmed and feel like you
have to have all of these these books. Please don't.
You can take years to get these on your shelves. Like,

(10:17):
don't feel like you have to go spend the money
all at one time. This is a fifty dollars book.
But this book you could write a class on oils
off of every single page almost. I mean, it's chemistry
and it's really deep and there's a lot of really
good information. So you're only gonna want this if you're
science y and nerdy and like you love the research
and you love the facts and all the chemical breakdown

(10:38):
of how this works and why it works. But this
is the book for that. Then. Okay. The last thing
that I'm gonna I'm trying to wrap this up. The
last thing that I want to just plant a little
seed in your mind. You are going to develop who
you are and what's your passion about helping and sharing

(11:01):
natural health with Is it with people if everybody? Is
it with animals? Is it with children and babies? Mamas
with babies. You know you're going to find that you
have a tendency to lean towards a group of people.
Probably it's probably the group that you're in is most likely.
You can probably most likely speak to young moms if

(11:24):
you are a young mom. Right, well, whatever it is
that you kind of have a tendency towards, you might
start thinking about writing your own little book. I know
that could be completely overwhelming to some people and for
some people don't even think this is not up your alley,

(11:44):
don't do it. But if you're an entrepreneur and you're
a go getter, it doesn't take too much to figure
out how to do this. Go to YouTube and do
a search on how to write your own book on Amazon,
Like it's free, It does not cost you money. Register
with their publishing department and they give you you can

(12:05):
download the template that you just start typing on and
you can write your own book. So think about this
is a more advanced technique, you guys, It really is
so don't feel like you've got to do this now.
This is just a seed put in your mind for
down the road. But think about what would you want
all of your new people that you sign up that

(12:25):
are going to be on your team. What do you
want them to know? And start making notes about that,
Like you want them to know about LOL to rewards,
you want them to know about Nasia read you want
them to what do you want them to know? And
you could put that all in a little book that
you publish by yourself from Amazon, and then while people

(12:46):
can buy it from Amazon or they can you can
order it and like, the price is so great. I
have a book on there. You can go check it out.
It's Natural Essential Oils Remedies and Recipes. And I think
I charged seven seventy seven for the book and when
I order it, it's like four fifty or something. So
I can order you know, twenty of them and take

(13:09):
them to an event and I can give them away
to anybody who you know, purchase a kit. Now they've
got a book to help them with it. You know,
go with it. You can take this strategy and go
wild with it. You could you could write a little
book you know about about the oils you could do it,
about the supplements, you could do it about just like
taking the toxins out of your home. There's other people

(13:33):
who have done this, don't don't think you can't do
it just because other people did it. You've got a
whole new audience, You're building a whole You've got a
whole new group of people that those people can't reach.
So what do you want your people to hear from you?
I wrote this book on natural central Oils Remedies and
Recipes on Amazon because at the time the desk reference

(13:54):
had gone out of print. I didn't have I was
had been given people little little reference books, and I
just didn't have them anymore. And so like, I'm just
going to write my own and I put in recipes.
I put in favorite recipes, skincare, heart health, respiratory health,
you know how to make roller balls, and just what

(14:16):
I would want every new person to have a whole up.
So I created that and I have I give this
to everybody who joins my team. That's like the first
thing they get. It's part of my system. Now, like
everybody gets this book. It doesn't cost me but four bucks.
You know, also to give it to them to send
it to them. So I don't feel like you have

(14:38):
to do that right now, but just put in the
back of your mind, Hey, I could write a little book.
I could be an expert on a certain area, or
I could even can just be a welcome to young
Living book. Like you could make your own professional book
and it's not that hard and it would set you
apart as really being professional. So I just want to
put that little bug in your ear. And if you're

(14:59):
on my team and you're like, I really want to
do this, Wendy, help me send me an EMO. All right,
I guess that's it. I'm trying to keep it short.
But these are the resources that I would write a
list that write them out, and then as you can
get one here and get one there and study them,

(15:19):
learn about those supplements, learn about those oils, learn about
how they can help you, and start using those products
for yourself and getting your own testimonies so that then
you can turn around with ease and just say, oh
my gosh, yes, well we used lemon for that, and
that it changed our lives. It totally helped like that.
I will never not use lemon again, you know. I mean,

(15:40):
that's that's you want to be able to have those
testimonies when you're talking to people so they really feel,
you know, like wow, Okay, she really did have a
great experience out. I'm willing to try it. Okay, that's
it for today. This one was all about resources and
I'll have a new podcast coming out super soon. Talk
to you soon. Bye bye,
