Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, guys, let's get into it because we're talking
about a government shutdown and this is pending, so you
don't want to miss it. My name's Paul Barren. Welcome

in there. Use our link down below. It does help
the channel. A couple of things I want to hit
on real quickly is this engagement between Trump and Schumer.
The bitterness is real, and it does increase the odds
of the potential shutdown. And I'm just telling everybody that
if we get a shutdown, this is going to have
some impact on your bags. And I'll talk about whether

(00:42):
or not you should be ready for this or not
as we get into it. I want to go to
this first clip though. Let's play stop one.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I think you could very well end up with a
closed country for a period of time.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
We passed the Continuing Resolution in the Republican House today
an amazing vote actually, But in the Senate we have
fifty three Republicans total and we need sixty votes.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
That means we need Democrat votes. But I think you
could very well end up with a closed country for
a period of time. And we'll take care of the military,
We'll take care of social Security, we'll take care of
the things that we have to take care of a
lot of the things that Democrats fight for, which in
many cases aren't very good. Things will not be able

(01:30):
to be paid. So we'll watch and see how they
do with that. Don't have to handle the constituents pretty carefully,
all right.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
So as you can see, Trump is prepping it. I
don't know if he is posturing for a negotiation with
the Democrats or what. But Schumer comes in and defends
himself in terms of a switch up in their position.
Take a look at this.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Either proceed with the bill before us, or risk Donald
Trump throwing America into the chaos of a shutdown. This,
in my view, is no choice at all. While the
cr bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown

(02:14):
has consequences for America that are much much worse.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
Mister Leader, do no longer believe what you said six
months ago.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
There.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Things have changed, Dana in three ways. First, since March
when that happened, the American people have seen how terrible
the Trump administration policies are. Their costs are going up
because of tariffs, because of electric bills, and most of
all because of the decimation of healthcare.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
All right, So, as you can see, he was his
hardline position right there. Trump came through though I believe
he might have saw this interview and look at what
he did. Take a look at this point.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
A government shutdown is still looming a next Tuesday if
they can't resolve things by then, and a meeting that
was supposed to happen between Hakeem Jeffreys, Chuck Schumer, the
top Democrats, and Trump has now been canceled by Trump.
He posted on truth Social this morning saying that after
reviewing the details of what he called unserious and ridiculous
demands being made by the minority radical elect Democrats or

(03:13):
returns from their votes to keep our thriving country open,
I have decided that no meeting with their congressional leaders
could possibly be productive. And he went on for a
while after that kind of criticizing some of the things
they're asking for, which remember a lot of this is
going to be about healthcare. That's what Democrats are staking
this on. They're looking for an extension of those Affordable

(03:34):
Care Act premium tax credits or else. Insurance costs are
going to rise for millions of Americans.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Is the risk?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Is the shutdown risk more acute in the Senate, which,
as you said, is going to be the only one
that has a chance to address it within the week.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
I mean, Carl, it all is really going to depend
on Democrats at this point, Chuck Schumer. She seems to
be holding firm saying that unless Democrats get some sort
of win on healthcare, they will not provide Republicans the
votes they need.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
So, as you can see, Trump cancels the meeting. Whether
this is a negotiation or not, I don't know what
we're dealing with right now, though, is the Dems really
have no teeth and it kind of shows in this clip.
Take a look, and.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
This is going to be Donald Trump shutdown. Democrats are
ready to work with the President. We're willing to sit
down with him today, tomorrow, We'll even come to the
golf course and sit down with him wherever he wants
to go. That's okay, all right.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
So it's looking like the government shutdown at least right now.
If you believe polymarket is at a sixty five percent
range right now on the possibility of it, that's pretty high, guys,
that's pretty high. So the real question is how does
this plan to your portfolio?

Speaker 6 (04:42):
Is?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
If we do get a shutdown, do expect some volatility?
The real question would be because you could play this
two ways. One, if there is volatility, there's an entry point.
It also could be maybe a flight to safety in crypto.
Can you imagine where we could see some movement there.
So there are a lot of factors that play out.
So you're going to have to be very diligent on
watching what is working right now now. Congress has been

(05:06):
putting in a lot of work lately. They're trying to
get these bills passed, they're trying to get things do going.
So I thought, hey, you know what, let's just show
how hard they're working. Take a look.

Speaker 6 (05:17):
The United States Senate was in session for a total
of twenty nine seconds on Monday. That's exactly twenty nine
seconds longer than the House of Representatives. Hello Hello, Hello, No,
still nobody. So the House and Senate were already scheduled
to be on recess this week for Rashishana, and the
House of Representatives was originally scheduled to come back on Monday,

(05:38):
the twenty ninth, but now Speaker Johnson pushed that back
until at least October one. The government funding deadline is
September thirtieth, so now they're scheduled to come back after
the government is already shut down. They believe it will
put pressure on the Senate to pass a continuing resolution
to keep the government open on a temporary basis they

(06:00):
come up with a permanent solution. They never came up
with a deal for fiscal year twenty twenty five. They
pretty much copied and pasted twenty twenty four's budget and
used it for all of this year. And that's how
the government has been operating.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I love the consistency and the amazing diligence of our
US Congress as they get out there and do things
just like this. This is a problem, guys, because it
does kind of point in one direction, and that is
maybe a shutdown. If you look at the history of
this nineteen eighty we saw this under Carter, we saw
this under Reagan several times, Clinton, Obama. Trump had his

(06:36):
two shots, both in twenty eighteen, and we stayed open
I think the longest under Trump, or it should say
closed the longest under Trump, which was thirty five days.
So if that does happen, expect some volatility. I think
this is a factor you've got to get into. Government
shut down would be looming if Congress hadn't spent the
last eight to ten months on vacation through that. And

(06:57):
I think this is the issue that we are facing
right now, the how over it is not working for us.
Take it into your own hands. Let's go to this
tweet right here. This is Eleanor Tarrett hitting on where
the current market structure bill is. And the timing is
interesting because September thirty was really the target. That's not
happening because they're too lazy to work. I guess I
don't know, But the point is is that we're not
getting in decisions and the possible new target now is

(07:20):
set for the week of the twentieth October twentieth. Remember
there's a big meeting with the Fed on the new
payment innovations that happens on the twenty first October is
happening or we hope it's going to happen, and of
course the market is potentially at risk here. The likelihood
is I don't think we're going to see necessarily a shutdown.
I think maybe we get a day or two, but

(07:41):
no extended. And I think there's where the opportunity lies
going into October. So if you guys are not part
