Episode 38: Highlights
•Keep in mind that based on the time of year, hours of operation can vary dramatically especially if there is a new land(star wars), seasonal events, weather, etc. So generally all four parks operate from 9am to 9pm. However, these times could change so make sure to call ahead and find more information regarding operating hours, ride closures, etc.
•Disney’s Blizzard Beach is going thru a major refurbishment which started on Sept. 8 will continue thru the early part of 2020 but that’s not a surprise because both water parks usually stay closed for the good part of fall as well as winter.
•Disney Springs is a great family entertainment area filled with shops, movie theaters, restaurants, and bars. The best part is that it stays open until midnight so in case you need another option because the parks are closed due to acts of god/nature. Then, you can head to Disney Springs and still have a great time.
•Special events like Halloween or Christmas can affect park times so plan ahead in terms of going to the other parks on the days where events are happening.
•If you’re staying at an onsite Disney resort, make sure to check with the front desk and find out about extra magic hours as well as extra extra magic hours because that could pay off huge dividends in terms of more time on the rides. For instance, Hollywood studios will be open for resort guests( Sept 1- Nov 2nd) at 6am, Magic and Animal kingdom will open at 7am.
•You can book dining reservations in advance( for specific events of course) online instead of over the phone. You can book 180 days ahead for things like the harmony haircut shop, the pirates league, etc.
•Hollywood studios has new fast tiers which means the most popular rides are considered tier 1 and you only get one fast pass per ride. So, things like shows or star tours will be tier 2 or 3.
•New Ride construction is happening everywhere because of the fast approaching Disney 50th anniversary. New resorts are opening soon like the Riviera which opens December 16th, the star wars galactic cruiser.
•The Skyliner will be opening sept 29 and it will connect all the value resorts with Hollywood studios and epcot. Finally, there will be more hydration stations around all the parks.
•Pro tip: you can always order your snacks(water too) from amazon and have them delivered to your room.
•Pro tip: make sure you call up and make your room requests before your even begins!!(usually 5 days in advance) For instance, accessibility issues, location of room within what’s important to you like the lobby or somewhere a little more quiet, intimate, etc.
•Pro tip: Always ask about upgrades because in case you cant get a room in a specific area that you want at least you can get it thru an upgrade. For instance, at animal kingdom lodge, the savannah view rooms is where you can view the animals so you would need to upgrade in case you cant get it thru a request
